Authorities arrested a Florida couple for an argument that devolved into a messy fight, according to The Smoking Gun.

The strange altercation happened Friday (July 31) between 45-year-old Stephanie Lannas and 35-year-old Adolfo Rivera at their Clearwater home, arrest affidavits say. The couple allegedly got into an argument that turned into a violent food fight. Lannas and Rivera shoved a plate of spaghetti in each other's face, an arrest report said.

A Clearwater police officer responded to the residence around 1 a.m. and found the pair “still covered in spaghetti upon officer’s arrival," according to records. Police noted that alcohol was a factor in the fight.

Lannas and Rivera were both booked into county jail on domestic battery charges. They were released the following day on their own recognizance, reporters said. They also didn't plead guilty to the misdemeanor, and a judge reportedly allowed them to have contact while the case proceeds.

The Smoking Gun also uncovered more history between the couple:

"Lannas was arrested in October 2020 for allegedly stabbing Rivera in the arm with a knife during a drunken confrontation. Prosecutors subsequently declined to pursue a felony aggravated battery case against Lannas, whose rap sheet includes multiple convictions for narcotics possession."

Another domestic incident happened earlier this year where a woman threw a plate of chicken at her boyfriend.
