Olympic gymnast and silver medalist MyKayla Skinner returned home to a welcoming crowd. Dozens gathered at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to welcome the athlete home, reported AZ Family. Skinner said:
"It's just so fun to see everybody here-all the love and support-I could feel it out on the floor in the competition days and it's just been so awesome to have all these people here supporting me throughout the years."
Among the dozens gathered to welcome her home were her family members, coaches, and fellow church members. They all cheered and held signs as she walked up.
Skinner's husband, Jonas Harmer, said:
"She deserves it. She works hard. I think me being able to have a front-row seat to her hard work this whole time, it's nice to see the recognition."
Skinner's niece Brooklyn said:
"She got a silver medal and it's amazing that that happened.

MyKayla thought she didn't have another chance for a medal at the Olympics after not qualifying for the individual events. However, after Simone Biles stepped down, she finally got the chance. She said:
"I couldn't sleep for two nights, so I was like 'french fries, pasta!' Just kind of enjoying myself. I'm like, "I'm done, it's over.' It was hard going into training through the next couple of days because I was really tired and my body was--my aches and pains were there but Simone really came and helped me get through it every step of the way and was cheering me on through it all, so she really helped make it all possible."
