Two French Bulldogs were returned after being stolen from a Detroit yard on Wednesday (August 4).
The dog-napping was caught on camera and the heart-wrenching video grabbed the community's attention, which helped identify the suspects.
The two dogs, Bruno and Bella, were stolen from a dog trainer's yard while the trainer was held at gunpoint.
According to FOX 2, as of Thursday (August 5), both dogs were returned to their owner. Someone from the neighborhood where the dogs were stolen saw the news story on social media and got in touch with the owners.
"Thanks to FOX 2 News, the social media platforms ... shoutout to everybody, the city came together," trainer Gary Major told FOX 2.
The owners were extremely grateful to the community for helping them reunite with their dogs. "The video was shared, it was heart-wrenching of course, but it was shared and the pressure was put on from the community and we got our dogs back," said one of the dog owners.
Detroit Police told FOX 2 that because one of the suspects was wearing a tether, also known as an ankle monitor, they were able to track both of them down by using the tether's GPS device. As a result, both suspects have been taken into custody.
