Here's Where To Get The Best Ice Cream In Tennessee

During the summer, ice cream is the perfect choice to overcome the heat and, fortunately, there's plenty of great places around Tennessee that serve up the cold, sweet treat.

To help narrow down the search for your next cup or cone, Food & Wine compiled a list of the best ice cream in each state. To qualify, each shop had to be in "uninterrupted production" for at least one or two years.

"Even with this kind of guidance in place, the decisions in some places ended up being almost too difficult. Hopefully this list, which didn't necessarily favor old or new, but rather asked the question, fifty times, what feels the most essential, depicts as well as it can, the diversity and depth of our national ice cream culture."

So which spot serves up the best ice cream in the state?

Cruze Farm

Based in Knoxville, Cruze Farm's freshly-churned ice cream sources locally from their family dairy farm and features different flavors that are updated daily.

"[Cruze Farm] has expanded ... to include what appears to be a growing number of shops selling creatively-flavored soft serve made from high-quality Jersey milk to happy customers everywhere from Knoxville's Market Square to Pigeon Forge-adjacent Sevierville, on the road into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Served up by a small army of gingham-clad, cheerful young women, flavors range from a kid-pleasing Fruity Pebbles to a summery lavender honey."
