A shocking video released by authorities this week shows a shirtless man chucking a hammer at someone's windshield before driving off.

The King County Sheriff's Office said they arrested the man suspected in the July 27 road rage incident, which happened on Interstate 5 in Shoreline, Washington. The suspect is shown cutting off the victim in a Jeep, hopping out, and throwing a hammer at the victim's windshield. The shirtless man then drives over the median and flees.

"Road rage is real, especially when some whacked out driver throws a hammer at your windshield," deputies wrote on Facebook.

Authorities said the incident began when the driver of the Jeep began honking at the victim as they merged onto the Northeast 145th Street I-5 ramp. The driver allegedly kept honking as both vehicles traveled northbound, and the victim took an exit to avoid a freeway confrontation, incident reports say. Things escalated into the violence shown in the footage.

"Using additional surveillance, King County detectives identified the Jeep's driver. They learned that only three days after this incident he was apprehended for multiple felonies after fleeing from deputies in Snohomish County," according to the sheriff's office.

Q13 FOX learned the 47-year-old man was booked on July 30 following an alleged theft at a Home Depot. He's also accused of threatening and yelling racial slurs at another man in Everett back in June.

The road rage suspect was wanted for felony hate crime, felony eluding, theft, and an outstanding felony warrant for first-degree robbery out of King County. They also have charges pending in Shoreline.
