Nashville Students Taken To Hospital After Deadly School Bus Crash

A deadly morning collision between a school bus and another vehicle sent several young students to a local hospital.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a school bus heading to an elementary school collided with a passenger SUV in Dickson County Monday morning (August 16), per WKRN. Dickson County Sheriff Tim Eads confirmed that driver of the SUV was killed in the crash, which occurred on Bowker Road near Highway 49.
There were 43 students on the bus at the time of the crash, Metro Nashville Public Schools Sean Braisted told WKRN. The children were on their way to Granberry Elementary School when the collision occurred on Old Hickory Boulevard at Montelle Lane.
Though it was initially reported that no students were injured during the crash, Braisted said that four students were taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and checked for possible minor injuries. The other students were taken to school by a new bus that was dispatched to the scene, according to the news outlet.
No other information regarding the deadly crash has been released, including the identity of the driver who was killed in the collision or the extent of any injuries sustained by the students taken to the hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
