Team Oklahoma Wins 2021 Little League Softball World Series Championship

A team of girls under 12 years old out of Muskogee made history on Wednesday afternoon by becoming the first Oklahoma team to win the Little League World Series Championship.

The Green Country Little League team representing Oklahoma defeated Virginia 9-1 and made it through the post season undefeated.

Virginia took an early lead in the first inning, according to KJRH. After five runs in the second inning, the game was all Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's Juliana Hutchens told the Tulsa World that she saw the final play in slow motion.

“When that final out happened, my heart just dropped and it was really, really cool. It’s an amazing deal to be a part of," she said.

Team manager Johnny Hutchens told the players that he hopes that they'll remember this moment for the rest of their lives.

“They’re always going to remember the friends that they came out here with. We’ve talked about that several times at length. This is an experience that you will remember who you share it with more than you will the games, if that makes sense. These girls have a really, really tight bond, and it’s awesome to watch," he told the paper.
