Delivery Truck Causes Massive Power Outage In Utah

One Utah city was without power for several hours last night after a delivery truck driver backed into a power pole and fled the scene.

A FedEx driver has been cited after striking a power pole while driving a delivery semi truck on Wednesday. The incident caused a widespread power outage in Kimball Junction. ABC 4 reported that the driver then fled the scene.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, the crash took place around 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening. That's also when Kimball Junction went dark.

Authorities said that deputies were called to the parking lot of a nearby gas station for a hit-and-run. According to reports, the FedEx truck allegedly backed into a power pole, which caused the outage. Some power lines then fell onto another vehicle as well as a result of the crash. The fallen power lines caused minor damage to the vehicle.

Kimball Junction went without power for several hours.

A 33-year-old man from Phoenix was located on I-40 and identified as the driver that caused the incident.

According to authorities, the man was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
