Police saved two men from a burning vehicle after a crash on a Michigan highway Wednesday night (August 25).
According to FOX 2, a Michigan State Police trooper was on I-127 when he saw a three-vehicle crash with two cars on fire. When arriving at the scene, the trooper was able to pull a 22-year-old man from a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was on fire.
Leslie Police Department, Mason Police Department and Ingham County Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene to assist with putting the fire out.
A 25-year-old man was pinned inside one of the burning vehicles but was saved in time. The two men inside both burning vehicles were transferred to Sparrow hospital and a 19-year-old man who was also involved in the crash.
Police say alcohol appeared to be a factor in the three-car pile-up. They believe the man driving the F-150 was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on the freeway.
The first trooper on the scene who saved the 22-year-old man was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation, and one other officer was also treated for smoke inhalation.
Michigan State Police tweeted a news release about the incident and also tweeted:
"From the first trooper to arrive on-scene whose heroic actions are to be commended, to all the subsequent officers who worked cooperatively together to save lives at this very serious crash scene, I couldn't be prouder of the courage and bravery on display." -Col. Joe Gasper"
