August is nearly over, so it’s time to start making Fall plans.
If you're looking for a road trip destination for a weekend getaway, October will be the perfect time to take scenic drives through the changing leaves, attend Halloween-themed festivals, sip pumpkin spice lattes and more. That’s why the travel blog Explore Now Or Never presented a list of the 19 best places to visit in October — and it includes one city in Georgia. “Whether you’re in search of epic hikes or wine tasting without the crowds, here are the most incredible places to travel this fall…”
So, where’s the best place in the Peach State to visit during spooky season? Savannah.
Explore Now or Never notes that the Georgia city is one of the “most haunted” ones in the U.S., so visitors looking to “take advantage of that spook factor” should consider visiting in October. The blog says of Savannah in part:
“Homeowners tend to go all-out with picturesque fall décor. Pumpkins line the entrances of fancy mansions in the Historic District, and visitors might spot fall foliage spilling over the gates of private gardens throughout the city…A plethora of ghost tours run throughout the day and into the night. The walking tours are the scariest, but haunted trolley tours—and even hearse tours— are also an option. The weather is perfect in October for touring beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery.”
The rest of the list includes destinations in California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York and other picturesque places.
