Falling Tree Strikes And Kills Woman In Wisconsin

A woman was struck and killed by a falling tree in Columbia County.

According to WCCO, a woman and her husband were in an off-road vehicle when a tree fell on top of them, trapping the woman inside.

Sheriff's officials say dispatchers got the call about the incident in the Town of Lewiston on Sunday afternoon (August 29).

To get to the woman, first responders had to cross field paths. When they arrived, they found that a large oak tree had fallen on top of the vehicle where she and her husband were mowing.

As responders waited for an ambulance on the roadside with the woman, life-saving measures were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Luckily, the woman's husband had non-life-threatening injuries.

Portage firefighters, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and UW MedFlight all assisted on the scene.
