A man who was building an upper deck on top of his RV says he will be taking down the structure, according to KOMO on Friday (September 17).
The RV sits on 8th Avenue NW right behind Reubens Brews and Fremont Brewery in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. Residents and business owners complained to city officials that the wooden structure on top of the vehicle was a safety hazard. They feared it could fall over and hurt someone.
Reporters say a homeless outreach worker convinced the man to abandon the project. He declined to tell KOMO his real identity, but he did say he was planning on placing wicker patio furniture on the now postponed second story.

“The structure is still there but we’re pretty happy just to see some tarps taken down," Lane Imbler-Bremner, a Ballard resident, told journalists. "That’s more progress than we’ve seen in months.”
Jennifer Adams, the outreach worker who spoke with the RV owner, says this is part of the larger issue affecting people like him: the lack of affordable housing in the area. Reporters also noted that there's no law in the city prohibiting RV owners "from getting more creative with their vehicles."
