With October around the corner, that spooky time of year is nearly upon us, but one California man had a real-life fright that had nothing to do with Halloween. Joel Morrison was walking through a cemetery when he passed by a 100-year-old grave - nothing too strange about that, many graveyards have been around for well over a century - except this plot had human hair peeking out of it.

Video of the scene was shared to TikTok and in it, you hear Joel saying how he has just seen something "really f***ing gross." The camera then shows the tombstone and pans down to a clump of hair that is flowing out of a crack in the grave.

Joel told Jam Press that when his disgust subsided, he "started to feel bad for the deceased's family members and worried about the upkeep of the cemetery, feeling kind of like maybe they were being disrespected or desecrated in some way." He noted that other gravesites had been damaged by animals and overgrown trees.

Commenters were also disturbed by what they saw, with one calling it the "scariest thing I've ever seen." Others gave a guess on what they thought happened, with one writing, "Seems like they're buried near a tree. A funeral director once suggested to not be buried near trees as something like this might happen." Someone else said it's likely an animal "found the hole and tried to bring it out to make a bed in its nest."

Joel thinks they are onto something, stating, "What looks like happened to me was there was a large tree very close to the tomb/grave and the roots from the tree had grown up into the grave, disrupting the concrete barrier and brick mortar, possibly pushing up the remains. Then once the grave was opened squirrels, rodents and whatever other animals were free to go in and out. It looks like maybe they were trying to nest in the human hair."

Morrison returned later to see if anything changed and while the hair had been pushed back into the hole, nothing had been fixed.

He then decided to take some of the hair to test it to see if it is from a human or not.
