G-Eazy and Demi Lovato appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform their new collaboration "Breakdown" live for the first time. The stage brought the video to life, with G-Eazy pulling headlines from his 2018 arrest, and Lovato using headlines from their 2018 overdose as they confronted their inner selves.

Lovato's voice takes on even more depth in their live version, both artists standing in mirrored rooms than dark visuals that bring to life the track's emotional lyrics. As Lovato belts the song's chorus and G-Eazy raps about battling his demons, the live version finds both artists confronting themselves and finding catharsis in doing so. See the full performance below:

"Breakdown" comes from G-Eazy's latest studio album, These Things Happen Too. Acting as the sequel to his major-label debut that was released in 2014, These Things Happen, the record finds G-Eazy going back to his roots and expanding on his earliest hits. The album also sees collaborations with Devon Baldwin, Lil Wayne, Bay Area legend E-40, and more.

Lovato came out as nonbinary earlier this year, and revealed that they feared it would affect their career if they did not present as "hyper-feminine." Speaking in a conversation with Jane Fonda, Lovato said, "After years of living my life for other people, trying to make myself smaller for the patriarchy _ they run the industry, they are at the center of everything. When I realized that, I thought, 'What are the ways that the patriarchy has been holding me back?' And for me it, it was putting me in a box telling [me], 'You are a female, this is what you're supposed to like, this is what you're supposed to do, don't dream bigger and don't speak louder.'"
