A Tulsa man is accused of kidnapping an unsuspecting FedEx employee while she was doing her job.

The FedEx employee was working in the back of a FedEx truck when William Powers jumped behind the wheel and started driving on Tuesday, September 28.

When the truck started moving, the woman yelled for the driver to stop, Fox 23 reported. Powers eventually stopped the truck and attempted to get into the back. He couldn't because the woman locked herself in to protect herself.

Powers got back in the truck and continued driving. He didn't get very far because he crashed the truck.

He ditched the wrecked truck and took off running. Tulsa cops were able to find Powers by tracking the GPS on the FedEx iPad he allegedly stole.

Powers' girlfriend, Taylor Sandridge, told News On 6 that Powers regrets what he did and that he was on drugs at the time.

"In a clear state of mind, he would not have done that at all. Especially know if somebody was in the back. Especially knowing there was a female in the back of the truck," she said.

Powers is currently being held at the Tulsa County Jail and faces charges of kidnapping, having a stolen vehicle, and concealing stolen property.

It's unknown if the FedEx employee was injured in the crash.
