Drake will have to sit down for a deposition or appear in court due to his alleged connection to XXXTentacion's murder trial.

According to a report Rolling Stone published on Thursday, February 9, a judge granted a request from suspect Dedrick Williams' defense attorney Mauricio Padilla after he petitioned the court for an "order to show cause." Padilla launched the effort after he claimed the Grammy award-winning rapper was properly served at the end of January with a subpoena for a deposition. Drake will have to show up for the deposition on February 24 or else he could be held in contempt.

“If deponent Aubrey Drake Graham does not appear to deposition he must appear before this court on Monday Feb. 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. EST at so [sic] the court can determine why he should not be held in contempt," the order said.

Williams' lawyer has been pitching Drake and his past beef with X as a possible theory that may have led to the Florida rapper's death. In opening statements he made earlier this week, Padilla argued that investigators did not look deep enough into Drake and XXXTentacion's beef. Their issues began back in 2017 after a friend reportedly told X, born Jahseh Onfroy, that Drake liked his music and wanted to assist him while he was in jail. Since the Canadian rapper never personally reached out, X's attitude toward him changed.

Then Drake released "KMT," which X believed to be a rip-off of his hit "Look At Me!" Upon his release from jail, X fueled the fire by making derogatory posts about Drake, his mother and one that claimed the Honestly, Nevermind rapper would cause his death.

“If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi. I’m snitching right now," X allegedly wrote in an Instagram Story. The post was later removed before X himself said his "accounts were previously hacked."

Padilla also said that Onfroy's own mother Cleopatra Bernard was also concerned about her son's issues with Drake and Migos. She even told authorities in her deposition that she asked a relative to join Onfroy at the RIVA Motorsports on the day he died “because of the ongoing battle with Drake and Migos.” William's defense attorney also noted in the filing that Drake has mentioned their beef in cryptic lyrics on several occasions including his latest song "BS" on Her Loss with 21 Savage.

“I never put no prices on the beef until we end this s**t," Drake raps. "I pay half a million for his soul, he my nemesis.”

So far, Drake nor his legal team has responded to Padilla's claims.
