Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have long been known known for their tight-knit (and oftentimes hilarious) marriage. But still, some social media users were apparently surprised that the couple didn’t post tributes to one another on Valentine’s Day.
Caroline took to her Instagram story on Wednesday evening (February 15) to set the record straight, sharing that “we’re gotten a lot of comments about not doing a Valentine’s post.”
That’s when her husband chimed in, saying with a straight face that, “it’s because we don’t love each other.” Caroline couldn’t help but burst out laughing, and assured her Instagram followers, “no, we don’t care. We’re too old, we’ve been together too long, we just don’t think about it.”
When she pointed out the “rude comment to Luke, the “Country On” artist raised his glass: “Cheers. Happy belated Valentine’s Day, world.”
Luke and Caroline have had a solid relationship for years. They met in college and tied the knot in Turks and Caicos in 2006 (Luke still laughs at a “goofy” photo of the couple grabbing one another’s butts while walking down the beach). They marked their 16-year wedding anniversary in December.
”I married my college sweetheart,” Bryan recently said, per his record label. “We dated back in college and broke up for nearly six years, and while I was off doing my Nashville stuff and touring and writing songs, she was finishing getting her career kind of going. Man, we just kinda bumped into each other one night, and it was like bam, here we are married.”
Bryan is part of the all-star iHeartCountry Festival lineup on May 13, at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Fans across the country will able to tune in to all of the incredible live performances at this year's iHeartCountry Festival as the event will be broadcast on iHeartRadio country stations nationwide, and on iHeartRadio.com as well as the iHeartRadio app on Saturday, May 13th at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
