If there's anyone who understands how much women have impacted Hip-Hop over the years, it's Angie Martinez.

On Monday, June 19, the radio and podcast host sat down with Good Morning America ahead of the debut of ABC's "Soul of a Nation" special “Hip-Hop @ 50: Rhythms, Rhymes & Reflections." The host and executive producer of the program, which celebrates rap culture, Black Music Month and Juneteenth, spoke about all the topics the special touches on including the drastic increase of women in Hip-Hop. GMA's Deborah Roberts brought up Martinez's verse on Lil' Kim's "Not Tonight" (Ladies Night remix), and suggested fans need for a new anthem for the ladies.

“We talk about where we are now in the culture, where we’ve come from," Martinez said. "One of the things that we were talking about is how many amazing women are in the culture right now.”

“There are so many [female] artists,” she added. “There were times in Hip-Hop where that was not the case. So it’s really great to see that now. So, yes, there are a lot of women collaborating with each other but yeah a big anthem like that would be fun to see.”

The 1997 banger is a remix to Kim's single off her Hard Core album. It appears on the Nothing to Lose soundtrack and features Martinez, Missy Elliott, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Da Brat. “Hip-Hop @ 50: Rhythms, Rhymes & Reflections" features four roundtable conversations focusing on financial literacy, mental health, social justice and women’s empowerment. During the program, Martinez leads discussions with rappers like Master P, The LOX, E-40, Lola Brooke, Coi Leray, Joey Bada$$, Fat Joe, MC Lyte, Charlamagne tha God and more.

Martinez's comments come not long after Coi Leray also called for a "Ladies Night" type record. Last week, the "Players" spitta took to Twitter to pitch a massive female-led collaboration with support from other ladies in the industry.

“Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year. Calling all the female rappers to [the] front,” she tweeted. “[Hear] me out. Ladies night. Hip Hop. Unity. #splash. Let’s make history with a number 1… together… with love. #justanidea.”

ABC's "Soul of a Nation" special “Hip-Hop @ 50: Rhythms, Rhymes & Reflections" is currently available on Hulu. Check out the trailer below.
