The Buffalo Bills have reportedly traded defensive end and former second-round pick Boogie Basham to the New York Giants "in exchange for a swap of late-round draft picks in 2025," a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Tuesday (August 29).

"Trade! The #Bills are sending DE Boogie Basham to the #Giants, per source," Pelissero wrote on his X account.

Basham, 25, was selected by the Bills at No. 61 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Wake Forest standout appeared in 23 games during his first two seasons but made zero starts.

Basham recorded 19 tackles, 2.0 sacks, one tackle for loss, five QB hits, one interception, two pass deflections and one fumble recovery while appearing in 15 games during the 2022 NFL season. The second-year defensive end was on the field for 39% of Buffalo's defensive snaps and 10% of special teams snaps, according to ProFootballTalk.

The Giants currently have A'Shawn Robinson and Leonard Williams listed as starting defensive ends, but second-stringers D.J. Davidson and Ryder Anderson are both dealing with recent injuries.

New York will kickoff the 2023 season with a home matchup at MetLife Stadium against the NFC East Division rival Dallas Cowboys on September 10. Buffalo will host the New York Jets during the first Monday Night Football matchup of the season in Week 1.
