Tiger Woods has reportedly "eliminated sex" as part of several drastic measures taken ahead of the 2024 Masters Tournament next week, a friend with knowledge of the situation told the New York Post on Thursday (April 4), exactly one week ahead of the event's opening round.

“He’s focused,” the friend said “He’s working really hard in the gym. He’s eating right. He’s even eliminated sex.

“He does that now when he’s preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn’t want anything to take away his focus.”

Woods, 48, widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential golfers of all-time, is currently single, having ended his six-year relationship with Erica Herman in 2023, which resulted in an attempted $30 million lawsuit that was dropped last November. The 15-time major champion was infamously at the center of a 2009 sex scandal that led to a five-month hiatus before making his return to golf at the 2010 Masters and, despite missing extended time due to numerous injuries since, has never missed a Masters Tournament since 1997.

Woods previously withdrew from the 2024 Genesis Invitational tournament on February 16 due to influenza while serving as the tournament's host. The 48-year-old was involved in a single-car crash in Los Angeles on February 23, 2021, which resulted in open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of his tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as other injuries to his foot and ankle.

Woods is a five-time Masters champion, having last won the event in 2019, securing his 15th career major, which is second only to Jack Nicklaus and has 82 tour victories, tied with Sam Snead for the most all-time.
