Drew Barrymore is getting to the bottom of rumors that a Happy Gilmore sequel is in the works.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 49-year-old host desires nothing more than a sequel to follow the 1996 classic, and has to know if it's actually coming together after years of speculation. Barrymore recently released a teaser clip a The Drew Barrymore Show's 'Drew's News' segment in which she comments on Sandler showing Christopher McDonald (who played Shooter McGavin in the film) a first draft of the sequel.
"Are you kidding me? I want it. I need it and I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison. And then I sent Sandler a video of that and then he sent me another video back and I'm waiting to see if he's confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script."
Barrymore decided to take matters into her own hands and do what any "proper journalist" would do. So, she reached out to the source (who also happens to be one of her closest friends) himself!
"This just in. I have breaking news. So I'll just say this from my source that it is in process ... so there is a process and that process is in process."
Fans can now rest assured that a Happy Gilmore 2 is in process and that process is in process! The full 'Drew News' segment that reveals information about the sequel is slated to air on Friday, May 3.
