The Bay Area is about to experience a major shift in weather, with temperatures expected to rise 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Per SF Gate, this change comes after a frost advisory was issued over the weekend for inland parts of the region.

According to Brian Garcia, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service’s Bay Area office, an area of high pressure building over the Pacific Ocean will bring warmer temperatures to the region starting Monday. By midweek, some interior parts of the Bay Area could see temperatures up to the mid-80s.

"Areas away from the immediate coast will be the warmest," Garcia said. Overnight lows will linger in the low 50s, compared to the mid to upper 30s over the weekend.

Here's a look at the forecasted maximum highs for Wednesday and Thursday in various parts of the Bay Area:

- Livermore: 79, 81

- Walnut Creek: 80, 81

- San Francisco: 74, 72

- Half Moon Bay: 71, 69

- Morgan Hill: 80, 82

- Oakland: 76, 75

- Napa: 79, 81

- San Jose: 81, 82

- Vallejo: 78 both days

Even Santa Cruz, which Garcia jokingly said would be "absolutely cold, windy and miserable," is expected to be in the mid to upper 70s.

While this sudden change might seem unusual, it's considered normal for the springtime season as the Bay Area transitions into summer weather. However, forecasters are watching for a minor risk of heat-related illnesses throughout the region for extremely sensitive groups, including infants and elderly people, from Tuesday through Friday.

Garcia advised people to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, wear sunglasses, and take breaks in the shade if they're working outside.

But don't get too used to the heat. By Friday, another area of low pressure is expected to head toward the Bay Area and cool things down. Rain is also possible, though how much remains to be seen.

"We just don’t know – the models have been wobbling on it," Garcia said. "But either way you shake it, it won’t be very much."
