Cabins are the perfect place to stay when you want to immerse yourself in nature but not be at the mercy of the wilderness. People can venture directly into the woods for amazing hikes, wildlife viewing, swimming, or all the fun activities that come with camping (without the tent). Some destinations, however, are more suitable for these nature getaways.

Trips to Discover has the scoop on the United States' best places for a cabin vacation. Their list includes mountainous terrains, massive lakes, and other impressive environments.

A fantastic state park in Colorado landed on the list: Golden State Canyon State Park! Visitors can look forward to over 12,000 acres of thick forests, sprawling meadows, and rocky peaks. Horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and hunting are just some of the activities you can undertake. Writers explain why they featured this park:

"One of the most unique and peaceful places to rent a cabin in the mountainous state of Colorado is Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which has a picturesque landscape and comfortable cabins that are perfect for nature lovers. You'll enjoy a natural gas heater and electricity in some cabins and a full kitchen with multiple rooms for larger groups. Peak season runs between late May and early October. The Twin Lakes Recreation Area and the massive Rocky Mountain National Park are also great places to rent a cabin in Colorado."

You can find Golden State Canyon State Park at 92 Crawford Gulch Rd. in Golden.
