Swifties Are Not Happy That So Many 'TTPD' Songs Are About Matty Healy

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy were only romantically linked for a short amount of time last year, but it looks like The 1975 singer left a lasting impression on the superstar. When Swift dropped her highly anticipated new album The Tortured Poets Department, releasing a whole second album's worth of material a few hours later wasn't the most surprising thing about the drop: it was that a lot of songs seem to be about her short-lived relationship with Healy when everyone thought it was going to mainly be about her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn. And Swifties are not happy about it.

Swift appears to make references to Healy in the title track, “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “loml,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)" and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys”—and that's just in the initial album.

"there is absolutely zero way to force people into liking the fact that taylor swift and matty healy were a serious thing like im so sorry the album is cute but that man is foul," one fan wrote on Twitter/X.

"using 'fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to' as a metaphor for finally being single and wanting to date matty healy is such an insane thing to admit in 2024," wrote another.

Meanwhile, "But Daddy I Love Him" seems to reference her fans' disdain about her relationship with the rockstar as she sings: "I'd rather burn my whole life down/ Than listen to one more second of all this b**hin' and moanin'/ I'll tell you something 'bout my good name/ It's mine along with all the disgrace/ I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath’s clothing.”

Harsh.

"i’d be sooooo ashamed right now if I was a swiftie who participated in the matty healy hate train listening to but daddy i love him," someone pointed out on X.

As always, there's a lot to unpack on this album and the extended edition also seems to reference Healy too. A source close to Swift told Us Weekly that she gave her ex a heads up about the album and he feels "relief" after its release.
