Eminem has confirmed his once-prominent alter ego "Slim Shady" is officially dead.

On Thursday night, April 25, the Detroit native posted a trailer for his upcoming solo album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). In it, the host of "Detroit Murder Files" implies that Em's 12th studio LP will rehash the events that led up to the murder of the bleach-blonde rap god. The teaser features a cameo from 50 Cent, who called Slim a "psychopath." It also previews testimony from a blurred figure (totally not Marshall Mathers) who asks "Who killed Slim Shady?" The clip ends with a gruesome photo of Slim's body, and a clue about the album's release date.

Eminem has been working on his forthcoming album for quite some time. The Shady Records co-founder was spotted in the studio with a few legends over the past two years like his mentor Dr. Dre and good friend Snoop Dogg. Earlier this year, Dre confirmed Em's plans to release a new album this year during his interview on Jimmy Kimmel. The Aftermath founder revealed his contributions to the album, but didn't provide any other details about it.

"He has an album coming out," Dre explained. "I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow. And he holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

Eminem's new album drops this summer. Look out for more updates on the album coming soon.
