Free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott has reportedly "agreed to terms" with the Dallas Cowboys, setting up a return after one season away from the franchise, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport Monday (April 29) morning.

Elliott, 28, spent his entire career with the Cowboys prior to being released and signing a one-year deal with the New England Patriots last offseason after Dallas opted to franchise tag fellow running back Tony Pollard, who signed a three-year deal with the Tennessee Titans in March.

"Reunion: Three-time Pro Bowl RB Ezekiel Elliott agreed to terms with the #Cowboys pending physical, sources tell me and @RapSheet. With Tony Pollard gone and Elliott coming off a strong finish to his lone season in New England, it’s time to Feed Zeke again in Dallas," Pelissero wrote on his X account.

Elliott recorded 642 yards and three touchdowns on 184 rushing attempts in 2023. The former Ohio State standout recorded a career low 876 yards on 231 carries, though tying his second-highest rushing touchdown total (12), while splitting carries with Pollard in 2022.

Elliott ranks third in Cowboys franchise history with 8,262 rushing yards and 68 rushing touchdowns, behind only Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett in both categories, while having also recorded 10,498 all-purpose yards. The former No. 4 overall pick led the NFL in rushing yards during the 2016 and 2018 seasons and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 2016, a second-team All-Pro in 218 and a three-time Pro Bowler in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
