Man Warned Of Deadly Danger After White Paper Towels Turn Brown Overnight

Most people know that weird things can happen overnight. You might hear creepy sounds or wake up to a light on that you are sure you turned off. A peculiar thing like that happened to one person recently but when they shared their strange story on Reddit they were told something shocking - that their life might be in danger.

It happened as the person was trying to solve a mystery surrounding a roll of paper towels in their home. When they went to bed the night before, it was a roll of white paper towels, but the next day, they were brown.

While some commenters joked that it was the person's housemates messing with them, others' responses were much more grave. One explained, "From Googling, 'Carbon monoxide will leave yellowish or brownish stains on walls or other surfaces. If you see discoloration around any of the appliances or equipment in your house, you should call a certified professional immediately.'" Many agreed, with one asking, "Have you got a Carbon Monoxide detector up in there? Or, (and I'm being serious), you 100% the Oven is plumbed up right? No weird smell when you come into the kitchen first thing in the morning?" Another chimed in, "For everyone's safety, you cant smell/taste that stuff. And it can kill you. Get onto the gas engineers/supplier. And if it's not that you may look silly, feel stupid but it's a life or death situation if it is a leak. You potentially saved your lives."

The original poster later commented with an update revealing that the mystery had been solved. He was certain the roll was white, but it turned out a housemate had changed it out and was indeed messing with him when they saw how worked up he'd gotten about it. However, the poster was happy to have shared the story explaining, "One of the reasons I posted this was in case I'm the only person who didn't know that a sign of a chemical or gas leak was kitchen roll turning brown."
