2024 Olympics Day 12 Results: Quincy Hall Wins Gold In Dramatic Ending

American sprinter Quincy Hall won gold in the 400-meter final in dramatic fashion during Day 12 of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday (August 7).
Hall, 26, was in fourth place during the final turn of the 400-meter race before taking the lead in the final meters to finish with a time of 43.40 seconds, a personal best and the fifth-fastest time ever recorded for the event.
“If you don’t get far away enough I’m going to catch you,” Hall said after the race via USA TODAY. “Every time.”
Team USA wrestling won its second gold medal in back-to-back days when Sarah Hildebrandt defeated Yusneylys Guzmán of Cuba, 3-0, in the 50-kilogram final. USA teammate Amit Elor won gold for the 68 kg weight class in her Olympic debut on Tuesday (August 6).
Cyclist Kristen Faulkner earned her second gold medal of the Paris Olympics by leading Team USA to its first gold in the Women's Team Pursuit. Faulkner, 31, had previously won gold in the women's road race on Sunday (August 4), becoming the first American to do so since Connie Carpenter at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
The United States Women's Basketball Team is now two wins away from its sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal, defeating Nigeria, 88-74, in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday. USA center A'Ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA Finals MVP, recorded a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, as well as two assists and one steal.
Jackie Young, Wilson's Las Vegas Aces teammate, recorded 15 points, three rebounds and two assists. Veteran forward Breanna Stewart finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Team USA will face Australia in the semifinal round, with the winner taking on the winner of the other semifinal matchup between France and Belgium in the gold-medal game. The Americans have won 58 consecutive games in Olympic play, a streak that dates back to the 1996 Atlanta Games and have won seven consecutive gold medals.
