USA Women's Basketball Team Cruises To Paris Olympics Semifinals

The United States Women's Basketball Team is now two wins away from its sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
The Americans defeated Nigeria, 88-74, in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday (August 7) to secure a berth in the semifinals. USA center A'Ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA Finals MVP, recorded a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, as well as two assists and one steal.
Jackie Young, Wilson's Las Vegas Aces teammate, recorded 15 points, three rebounds and two assists. Veteran forward Breanna Stewart finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Team USA will face Australia in the semifinal round, with the winner taking on the winner of the other semifinal matchup between France and Belgium in the gold-medal game. The Americans have won 59 consecutive games in Olympic play, a streak that dates back to the 1996 Atlanta Games and have won seven consecutive gold medals.
