Miley Cyrus proved that she truly did have the "Best of Both Worlds" while accepting a prestigious Disney Legends honor for her character Hannah Montana as part of Disney's D23 fan event in Anaheim, California on Sunday (August 11).
“I’m definitely going to cry," the icon expressed as she accepted the honor, standing out as the youngest recipient in history. Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana in the Disney hit series from 2006 to 2011, was very grateful to be honored as a Disney Legend, and even prepared two speeches.
"One long, if I’m the badass that I’m supposed to be, and one short, if I get scared.” After explaining that "doing it scared" is what makes a literal life legend, the "If We Were A Movie" star detailed the filming process behind Hannah Montana's first concert before anyone knew her name.
“They gave away tickets at the Glendale mall where I would have my first free concert. The first song I opened with was titled 'This Is the Life,' which of course no one knew, because in reality I was a little girl in a blonde wig at the mall with a big dream. But in my heart I was Hannah Montana, and I was so proud to be.”
The "Who Said" songstress revealed that while the show ended over a decade ago, Hannah Montana will always remain inside her heart.
“A little bit of everything has changed since that day, but at the same time nothing has changed at all. I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana because she made Miley in so many ways. This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality."
Cyrus closed out the speech with a line straight from the brain of Hannah herself.
"To quote the legend herself, this is the life."
