Billy Corgan is using "the magic of AI" to help promote Smashing Pumpkins' latest album Aghori Mhori Mei. The bandleader shared videos in eight different languages on YouTube. The original message was recorded in English, and then AI filmmaking firm Curious Refuge re-made it in Spanish, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, Greek, and French. In each video, it looks like Corgan is fluently speaking each language, and his mouth and movements are perfectly in sync.
“Hello, everyone! William Patrick Corgan here, of the Smashing Pumpkins, speaking to you through the magic of AI,” he begins. “But don’t worry! Before AI destroys everything, including all culture, please know the Smashing Pumpkins have a new album out, Aghori Mhori Mei!"
“That’s right, a return to our old-school roots,” he adds, referring to the album's '90s sound. “Billy, Jimmy, and James, getting back to the old-school guitar style that we’re known for.”

Smashing Pumpkins are currently on tour in North America, playing a mix of headlining dates and support on Green Day's Saviors Tour. It's their first North American outing with new touring guitarist Kiki Wong. The band connected with Wong after putting out an open call on social media in January, following Jeff Schroeder's departure from the band. They received 10,000 applications, but only auditioned a handful of musicians. In April, they announced Wong has their new touring guitarist. Billy Corgan recently revealed what made her stand out amongst thousands of musicians, saying "there was something about Kiki's presence and personality and sweetness that we just were really attracted to. She just felt like a real breath of fresh air."
