Gwen Stefani ignited the stage with her infectious energy on the first night of the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Capital One on Friday (September 20). Stefani’s set included iconic hits throughout her career — including No Doubt throwbacks — and the first-ever performance of her newest single.
Stefani released “Somebody Else’s” from her fifth studio album, Bouquet, which is slated to release on November 15. The 10-track record will also include “Purple Irises,” the most recent, romantic duet Stefani previously debuted with her husband, country star Blake Shelton. Shelton hailed his wife “my favorite all-time songwriter, my favorite all-time singer, favorite all-time No. 1 human being I ever met in my life,” as he encouraged others to listen to “Somebody Else’s.” The couple met as coaches on The Voice in 2014, confirmed their relationship the following year, and tied the knot in July 2021 on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch.
Stefani launched her performance with a nearly 20-year-old anthem, 2006’s “The Sweet Escape,” when she arrived on the T-Mobile Arena stage in Las Vegas, Nevada. She continued with mid-90s No Doubt hits “Don’t Speak” and “Just A Girl” — fittingly, after the band’s highly-anticipated reunion at Coachella earlier this year — and wrapped up the performance with her 2004 Love. Angel. Music. Baby. anthem, “Hollaback Girl.”
Big Sean, Camila Cabello, Doja Cat, Keith Urban, Hozier, Thomas Rhett, New Kids on the Block, Paramore, Shaboozey, The Black Crowes, Victoria Monét, and others are also taking the stage during the two-night, genre-spanning event. It’s all hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
If you missed any of the action this weekend, or just want to re-live it all, an iHeartRadio Music Festival special including highlights from the event will be available to stream on Hulu on October 7th.
