There's no love lost between Taylor Swift and her ex-boyfriend's mom.

On Thursday (July 24), Denise Welch, the mother of The 1975 singer Matty Healy, appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live!, where host Andy Cohen wanted to get the scoop about her true thoughts on her son's brief romance with the Midnights singer, and she didn't mince words, per Page Six.

"Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost," she said, adding, "Not that I have anything against her at all. It was just — it was tricky."

Swift and Healy dated briefly in the summer of 2023 before each going their separate ways, though not without some musical inspiration. Swift is believed to have referenced their relationship on her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department, which Welch said her son handled "all in good grace."

Welch continued, "She — listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it."

For his part, Healy cheekily responded to a fan earlier this year speculating that he has a new song inspired by Swift.

Both Swift and Healy have since moved on to other relationships after their brief romance and subsequent split. Swift has struck up a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce while Healy has been linked to model Gabbriette Bechtel since September 2023. The pair got engaged a year later, with Bechtel sharing a photo of her black diamond ring and Healey's mother confirming the news.
