Speaker 1 (00:00):
Live from the Geico OutKick Studios, where fifteen minutes could

Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote. The
absolute embarrassment of spectacular sporting events continues as we move
in through mid April. We've got three NBA games that

(00:21):
happened last night, several NHL games that happened last night.
I know, wherever you are across the country, is a
good chance that your city or state is locked into
one of these games in one form or another. So
let's run through some of the takeaways here. I said
it I continue to say it that Toronto Raptors, the
most underrated team in the Eastern Conference, one of the

(00:43):
most underrated teams in the history of the NBA. Well,
they came out and did something that frankly hasn't been
done in a long time. They continued to dominate Washington.
Uh and this is several different postseason records that have
been set. This is the first Toronto Raptors amazing stat
have ever been two oh up to oh in a

(01:05):
series in the history of the franchise, the first time
they've won two straight games to start off a series,
they're now up to OH. They scored a franchise record
a hundred and thirty points, franchise record sixteen three point
field goals. Tavarta Rosen went for thirty seven points to
match his postseason best, and Kyle Lowry had twelve assists,

(01:25):
and that in and of itself is pretty good. And
their seventy six points in the first half, which basically
went a long way anyway towards deciding this game, are
the third most by any team in any half in
the playoffs in the last fifteen years. So if you're
not paying attention to the Raptors because they're from Canada,
you're racist against Canada. And the Raptors are up now

(01:46):
too OH for the first time in any series. The
Celtics Brad Stevens coaching, coaching, coaching, he loses Kyrie Irving,
he loses Gordon Hayward, and he's going up against the
pretty talented Milwaukee Bucks squad. And the Celtics win by
double digits to go up to OH in that series
and look pretty good about advancing. And then look, I

(02:09):
don't know what's gonna happen here, but the Portland's Trailblazers
everybody's team that they were like, oh, you know, they're young,
but they're close to taking the next step. Well, even
without DeMarcus Cousins, the Pelicans now have gone on the
road and taken a two oh series lead over the
over the Trailblazer. So am I correct in this? I
believe that I am almost all of the series right

(02:33):
now in the n b A. Uh, we have not
even had a split yet, right Um, You've got a
two oh series lead for the Raptors, We've got a
two oh series of lead for the Celtics, We've got
a two oh series lead for the Pelicans, We've got
a two oh series lead for the Warriors. And I
guess we got the one split in the Heat and
the seventies Sixers where those guys are split at one
game of piece. Now, m b A, the big story

(02:55):
I guarantee you tomorrow is gonna be what happens in
that Pacers and have series, which is going to tip
off at seven Eastern tonight. The Calves in a must
win game at home against the Pacers. They are eight
point favorites. Uh. The Jazz are playing against the Thunder
and the Tea Wolves against the Rockets. But all of
the attention is going to focus down now on Lebron

(03:18):
James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and can they bounce back
from the eighteen point defeat that they took on Sunday,
which seems like it was a long time ago now,
so just Game two of that series. But it is
taking place to tonight at seven o'clock Eastern. So that
is where we are. We talk about, UH, the NBA
series as we move into UH tonight's games, UH, the NHL,

(03:42):
the NHL. It was almost an incredibly brutal night of
one of many nights that the Washington area has had
because the Washington Capitals we're going in a must win
game on the same night that frankly, the Washington Wizards
did not look very good again the Toronto Raptors. And
this is crazy, but the Capitals and the Blue Jackets

(04:04):
went to overtime for the third straight game, and it
went to double overtime last night and the Caps found
a way to get a win. So Alexander Ovetskin, maybe
this Caps season is not going to end in futility
again way too early. We'll find out whether the Caps

(04:25):
can bounce back from losing their first two at home
to win their next two on the road. Big win
for the Caps over the Blue Jackets. They are now
down just two to one, must win game that they
had probably close to a must win game in Game
four as well as they try to even that series
on what I would imagine will be Thursday night, uh

(04:47):
in Columbus. So that will be a fun game to
to follow. In terms of the other outcomes, the Jets,
the Winnipeg Jets team that many people feel like has
a legitimate chance to win the Stanley Cup. It's the
win over the Minnesota Wild to now go up three
to one in that series. And and this is a
pretty cool story Las Vegas first ever pro sports franchise,

(05:09):
as they wait for the Raiders to arrive in their town.
They went head to head with the l A Kings
and they won four straight one oh the Golden Knights
one last night in l A. So they will now
sit back and wait. Looks like they are likely to
play San Jose. I would think that they will be
a favorite over San Jose. So that would get them

(05:30):
into the Western Conference Finals in their inaugural season. A
lot to to be happy about if you are in Vegas.
I have a lot of friends out in Vegas and
they tell me that it is crazy. You kind of
put into perspective how much the city of Las Vegas
is in on the Golden Knights. And by the way,
I know a lot and there are people listening to
us in Las Vegas right now either finishing their finishing

(05:53):
their their shifts and their work or waking up early
to go in. A lot of people talk about Las
Vegas in the context of the transient town. You know,
Las Vegas is the city that you go to to
uh to hang out in, to have a great time
for a weekend, to uh to be uh. You know,
you're to try on different personas just have a good time.

(06:13):
There's also a ton of people who live in Las Vegas,
and I got a bunch of buddies out there who
live in Las Vegas. And this town has been looking
for something to rally around outside of the gaming industry,
and the Golden Knights are it. So this is pretty remarkable.
In the first year of the expansion franchise to win
a playoff series four oh over the l A Kings,

(06:34):
the Golden Knights advancing into the second round of the playoffs,
the first team in the NHL or the NBA's opening
around two in their series and roll on in to
the next round. All those things are taking place, I
would say number one story out there by the way. Also,
Otani uh ran into a rough outing against the Red Sox.

(06:57):
He only lasted a couple of innings. Will see if
that has a long lasting impact or if it was
just a bad pitching outing and uh, we'll see how
long that could that could last. We have got a
loaded show for you. We're gonna talk to John Campbell
from odd Shark at the bottom of this hour. He's
been out on vacation the past couple of weeks. We'll
find out where he is, but gets you a sense

(07:18):
for where these series are in the NBA and the NHL. Also,
talk with him about the NFL draft in terms of
are there any prop bets he likes, who does he
think is gonna be number one overall? And what does
he think of the of of the likelihood of trades
and everything else as we are now what eight days
from the NFL Draft. Also, we will talk with Jeff

(07:40):
Schwartz an hour to our guy, former NFL offensive lineman,
will break down all of the NFL drama, what does
he think, does his value is in the open market?
And what are the New York Giants gonna do? He
played with the Giants. To me, the Giants appear to
be the lynchpin in this draft. If they go with
a quarterback, then they could really set off a run

(08:01):
on quarterbacks early in the draft. If they pass on
a quarterback, then that also means that there could be
some substantial differences. Uh. And also are they gonna trade
that pick? Because they seem to be sort of the
full grum point for all of the rumors about the
potential to trade that pick. So we will discuss all
of that and more with him as well. But I
think the story as we come into Wednesday morning, appreciate

(08:24):
you waking up with us, spending your morning with us.
Is Lebron and in particular, what is going to happen
in that series against the Pacers. If you weren't listening
on Monday, I came on and already issued a potential
apology to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.
I said, I will take out kick, I will bring

(08:44):
this show to the city of Indianapolis if they win
this series over the Calves because I said there was
a zero percent chance they were gonna win this series
before it started. Now I think it's a it's time
for legitimate discussion here about what exactly is going on
with the Cavs, and and what would this mean for
the Eastern Conference, the NBA Finals and everything else as

(09:07):
you look forward in uh in the playoffs. If Lebron
James suddenly is potentially eliminated in the first round of
the playoffs, I mean, we've never seen this happen before.
And I said, and I continue to say, the NBA
uniquely is dominated by players, and people tune in for
their opinion of whether they like the players or not,

(09:31):
and no player matters more in that same arena than
Lebron James. Everybody out there makes a decision about whether
or not they like Lebron James, and that means that
they're more likely to watch the NBA. A lot of
talk about NBA ratings being up, although interestingly, and maybe
we could talk about this a little bit later in
the show. In fact, I'm sure we will. Do you know,

(09:53):
w w E RAW on Monday night had more viewers.
This is the World wrestle Ing, What is the entertainment.
I guess now w w E. I grew up with
it as WWF. The w w E had more total
viewers on Monday Night for Raw than the NBA playoffs did.

(10:14):
They had more viewers and certainly than the NHL playoffs.
But they had more viewers than the seventies sixers going
up against the Heat, and they had more viewers than
the Golden State Warriors against the San Antonio Spurs. W
w E cost two hundred million dollars a year for
its television rights. The NBA costs two point five billion.

(10:36):
Which one of those do you think is the better deal?
When it comes to the playoffs. More people watched w
w E Raw on Monday Night than watched either of
the NBA playoff games on T n T. I'll see
how tomorrow. I'll find out whether or not Tuesday or
later this afternoon when they were released the full ratings
for Tuesday night. But it's possible that SmackDown had more

(10:58):
viewers than any NHL or NBA playoff game. Two. That's
why I owned stock in www E. That's why I
love the company. But can you imagine what that would
do to ratings if Lebron lost Game two to the
Pacers and what that would mean for the alarm bells
going off in the NBA. We'll talk about all of that.
I'll bring in the crew will discuss. I am Clay Travis.

(11:20):
I appreciate you guys spending your Monday morning with us.
We got a loaded show for you. Want to always
remind you go download the podcast. I know many of
you are doing that, and we appreciate all the support
that we're getting out there from the podcast community as well.
But up next we'll break down uh Lebron the chances
is a good or bad for the NBA that Lebron

(11:41):
is in a tough first round matchup, and then we'll
talk with my guy, uh John Campbell about the gambling
situation for the NHL, the n b A and also
NFL Draft prop bets. All that still to come next.
I'm Clay Travis. So outka the coverage on Fox Sports Radio.
Car shopping and be confused with terms like dealer price,

(12:01):
the list price, and voys. True Car shows you what
other people paid for the car you want, so you
can recognize a good price when you're ready to buy
a new or used car. Visit True Car to enjoy
a more confident car buying experience now that we continue
to move through the playoff series. I think probably in
the NBA and the NHL that so far the biggest upset,

(12:22):
particularly given the Caps have bounced back and beaten the
Blue Jackets in Game three in Columbus Center just down
to one, it's probably the Pelicans going on the road
and beating the Trailblazers two straight games. Uh. They'll come
back to New Orleans up two oh with a chance
to advance into the next round. And I would think

(12:43):
that the Golden State Warriors have to be looking at
that thinking, are you kidding us? You know, all we'll
have to do is beat the Spurs without Kallive Leonard
and then beat the Pelicans to advance to the Western
Conference Finals. That I mean, they have to be just
absolutely licking their chops, right, I mean, I think that's
the the way the Brackett would would break down. If

(13:05):
I'm not mistaken. Let me bring in the crew uh
and find out what they think. And I think almost
it's turned the page time on the show the games
that happened last night. Everything is great about that. Maybe
not that big of a surprise, although I'll ask if
there was any big surprises there. Again, this time of
year in April, there are just so many games going on.
It's hard to focus. It's almost like we have the

(13:27):
uh the NFL every single or college football every single day,
because there's so many different games taking place, and your
guys are out there watching so many uh different contests.
But are you guys with me that this is a
massive game tonight for the Calves and for the NBA, because,
my god, if the Pacers won two in a row

(13:48):
on the road, the alarm bell may be sounding already
for the Calves because they looked not just beating, they
looked out of shape and out of sorts against the Pacers.
Did not look like a good matchup for them. But
my god, if they lost a second straight home game,
it would be unbelievable heading into Indianapolis on Friday and Sunday,

(14:09):
Jason Martin, bring you in what jumped out at you
about last night? And are you with me that it's
almost time to turn the page and get ready for
Pacers Calves game? Too? Well, it doesn't require much much
exposition about last night other than the fact that Caps
Blue Jackets was a hell of a watch like watching
that game last straight overtimes is first of all, almost

(14:31):
unheard of. But then to go into double overtime the
Caps in a must win situation. That's been the most
entertaining series so far in the NBA or the NHL,
And overtime in in the NHL is really better than
anything else that exists in sports, I am, in my opinion.
You know, sudden death in the NHL as playoffs is

(14:51):
tough to beat. Yeah, especially when there's no commercial breaks,
which means they never even go off the ice like
it just it's it's breathless. It's like watch in a
quiet place or something like that. But the other thing is,
I'm gonna back up your point about the Raptors, Uh,
not not just how they played, but just the idea
that they are disrespected in some ways. Not I get
it with the market size, but how often do you

(15:12):
think in NBA history a number one seed has been
on NBA TV while a number two seed with no
stars has been on t n T against the Milwaukee Bucks,
you know, I mean, it's a good point, and I
think that that is why the Raptors are not getting
much attention. I think that the TV networks don't even
want to acknowledge it, but they lose out. I mean,

(15:34):
Toronto is a decent sized metropolitan area, but they have
no like substantial fan base in the United States, and
so the millions of people who will watch the Raptors
as they make their run through the playoffs don't count
for the billions of dollars that t n T and
ESPN are spending. So the Raptors advancing UH is a

(15:55):
disaster for them, and so they just pretend that that
series doesn't even exist. And next round, you know, at
least if Lebron and the Calves were to win, you
would get Lebron against the Raptors. But I just I mean,
they're not very many times you can ever point to
the second best team in the league, right, I mean,
they won fifty nine games, second most of of anybody

(16:18):
during the regular season, and nobody gives them any chance
or any respect at all. I mean, you compare the
amount of attention that the Raptors are gonna get in
their first round series with what the Calves are gonna
get against the Pacers, and there is there's no there's
no comparison. I mean, it's it's a totally different universe.
So so that is going on. Uh, what do you
think about the Calves. They're an eight point favorites tonight.

(16:39):
Do you think that they will come out and take
control of this game early and kind of put the
pacers away and get it tied up at one one
or do you expect the type game. I tend to
believe the former, but I think it's very possible the
latter could happen because I just don't trust anybody on
Lebronze change Lebron's team other than Lebron. I mean, he
got zero help basically from anybody that mattered in game one,

(17:02):
and he's gonna need a lot more of that. His
role players. Role players are supposed to show up in
the playoffs at home. Maybe they don't travel, maybe they're
not shooting as well from the hot corner or whatever
like that when they're not in their own gymnasium. But
when you're looking at it this way, all these guys
need to be able to shoot. They've got I mean,
you gotta get more than nine points from Kevin Love.
I don't care if he gets you seventeen rebounds like
he did in Game one. He's got to score more.

(17:24):
Lebron's not gonna have enough offense himself. He's not James Harden.
He's not gonna go out there and go for fifty.
He's not one of the five best individual scores in
the history of the n b A. He's one of
the five best individual players in the history of the NBA.
But that doesn't necessarily translate. I want to see how
Old Adipot plays tonight. Old Depot with thirty two, had
a chip on his shoulder, didn't like some of the

(17:45):
things that the Calves that were kind of talking about
him and talking about his team and the lead up
to this series. I want to see if he comes
out and goes for blood again early in this game,
because I think that determines whether or not Indianapolis gets
blown out or gets beaten by ten or fifteen points,
or if this thing is tight and you have a
little bit of a chance to win it, but you're right,
if this thing goes to two oh, I think I
think two oh in favor of the Pacers is the

(18:07):
best possible thing that could happen for the NBA, because
everybody's watching games three through potentially seven in this series.
If that happens. But I don't think that the NBA
is looking forward to the Pacers potentially knocking off the Calves,
not by any means. It's my theory that the Pacers
need to dominate the Calves because if they keep this
series close and it goes to Game six, and it
goes to Game seven, I think the Calves are gonna

(18:28):
get all the calls. I'm not saying the fixes in,
but I think the NBA superstar officiating down the stretch,
Lebron will get every call. I I really do so.
I think that the NBA is going to be desperate
that the Calves win tonight because if Lebron went out,
I mean, just imagine, we haven't ever seen this before.
If Lebron went out in the first round and you
were left at which would in theory tell me, if

(18:50):
I'd be right about these matchups, you would have the Pacers,
I think, going up right now, presuming that we know
what's gonna happen. You have the Pacers going up against
the Raptors, and you would have this Celtics going up
against who else is out there that's in that that
they would theoretically be playing against Sixers or the heat
depending on what happens in that one one series. But
there's nobody watching the Eastern Conference right in terms of

(19:12):
big numbers, And then you could end up with the
Raptors against the Sixers, you know. I mean that is
a that's a series that would terrify everybody out there
in the television universe. Now for just hardcore basketball fans,
I think that could be a really entertaining series, But
in terms of bringing in the masses, it ain't gonna
be moving the needle. And what do you think, by

(19:34):
the way, about the Warriors getting the opportunity, Look, they
look like they're gonna there's no way the Spurs are
gonna come back and win this series, right. Uh, They're
not gonna win four out of five games remaining. Uh.
The Spurs look like they're ready to kind of cash
in the chips and be done, and the Warriors look
like they're taking the next step. And then in theory
they the Pelicans look like they may really knock out
the Blazers. Not that we were that afraid of what

(19:57):
would happen to either the Rockets or the Warrior, but
that would be pretty wild for the Warriors, even without
Steph Curry to get that kind to draw UH into
into the Western Conference Finals. Let me go to the
out to l A. To my crew out there, what
jumped out at you guys you're in l A. Was
there any kind of pay attention to the fact that

(20:17):
the UH, the l A team out there lost in
the straight sets basically to the the the the Golden Knights.
I mean, because I can't even get used to saying
that the Golden Knights exist. And now they've already won
a series and they're up four oh, and they're moving
in the next round. Yeah, I'm sure you'll catch up
with Eddie about it in a few minutes. He was
actually there at Staples Center for the game. So, yes,

(20:41):
it was a sad end of the season for the
Kings and it was a bad night for the Angels.
So a bad night for some of the Southern California teams.
But as far as the other teams on the court
that you guys have been talking about, Yeah, the Blazers.
If you remember last week when you asked us what
teams we were interested in seeing, I said, the Blazers
with two top ten stars, it would be interesting to

(21:02):
see if they showed up or not so far. The
Blazers are looking like last year's Raptors, just asleep at
the wheel. The Pelicans, of course, we know what to
expect from Anthony Davis, but so far, the Blazers have
made Drew Holliday look like a superstar. That's been surprising.
Demarta Rosen. He's had a tremendous season. We had he
had thirteen points in the first quarter of yesterday's game,

(21:24):
so that that game in essence was over in the
first quarter. And then the Celtics, you haven't really talked
about them and their role players. We know about about
Jason Tatum and what he did in game one and
game two it was the Jason Brown Show, and then
the role players Terry Rose there and Barry Larkin's kids.
Shane Larkin had a great night. So the Celtics just

(21:45):
a deep team there their benches is pretty amazing. What
oh man well, I mean depends on what you believe.
The Angel said that he had a blister and that's
why he was taken out after two innings and had
affected uh him not being able to locate his pitches,
which is what he was. You know what the problem

(22:06):
was in that game. At one point I think he
bounced the ball like a good five feet in front
of the plate. Uh, So he didn't look good. But
I mean, to me, it's it's one game, so we'll
we'll see what happens is next time out. You can't
make any judgments based off of one game. Well, what
do you think about what do you think about what
happened in Kansas City with the whole deal with the crowd,
with the three students quiet while he batted, because he

(22:30):
wants They want him to be quiet while he's at
the plate. So now they've basically set him up and
put a target on him for the rest of his career.
Anytime he's not in anaheim Er in Los Angeles, it
is gonna be the loudest bat at bad in the
history of the MLB. Not the best week for him,
I would say. I mean, with that story, the whole
thing was because it was so empty in Kansas City
that it was really easy to I guess, single out

(22:53):
these particular screams from these college girls, and if there
was more fans in the stand, they would be just
you know, and over they would be drowned out in
the overall hum of the crowd. So I don't think
it's gonna be, you know, a big concern down the stretch.
Bringing Eddie Garcia, Eddie, you were out at the the
l A game for the end of the season there.
What was the vibe like? As the Golden Knights advanced

(23:16):
in a sweep, the Kings fans were definitely uh, not
wanting to see their team be swept out of the
first round of the playoffs. It was certainly a very
competitive series. Every game was decided by one goal, but
in the end, Vegas was was definitely the better team.
I was very impressed with their goaltender Mark Andre Fleury,
who was hes a three time Stanley Cup winner, but

(23:37):
he even took his game to another level. And uh,
you know again, the Kings were not looked at as
a favorite in the playoffs this year, but you never
want to be swept out of the first round, and
especially by a first year team. But Vegas is legit.
They are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. Well, we'll start
with the NBA playoffs where you talked about the Pelicans
beat the Trailblazers one eleven to one oh two. That's

(23:59):
six C in the West against the three seed and
New Orleans the sixth seed is one of the first
two games on the road against Portland's the three seed
Raptors over the Wizards one thirty to one, nineteen to
Martin Rosen thirty seven points. Where Toronto they've got a
two oh serious lead, first time in their history they've
led a playoff series two games to nothing. Celtics over
the Bucks one twenty to one of six Jalen Brown
thirty points with Boston as the Red Sox have a

(24:21):
two oh series lead NHL Playoffs, we just mentioned it.
Golden Knights beat the King's one nothing to sweep the
series in four games double overtime, but the Capitals beat
the Blue Jackets three to Columbus still has the two
one series lead and the Jets shut off the Wild
to nothing Winnipeg with a three one series advantage in
that with this repoint broad to by True Car online
car shop, you can be confusing, but not anymore. With
true Price from True Car now you can know the

(24:43):
exact price you'll pay for your next car some as
a True Car and enjoying more confident car buying experience.
And you guys just talked about it as well. The
battle between the two teams in baseball with the most
wins so far this season. Red Sox crushed the Angels
ten to one. Boston now fourteen and two on the season.
As you continue the best start in frank Its history.
Mookie Betts hit three home runs and for l a
Shootani took the loss, only lasted two innings, three runs,

(25:06):
four hits, one strikeout and a blister apparently on his
pitching hand, which is why they took him out after
two innings. The deal. Let's bring in John Campbell from
odd Shark at Johnny odd Shark on Twitter. He'll be
with us here momentarily as we get ready for the
n A and the NBA playoffs and break down with
him the the situation in the NFL as you consider

(25:27):
the prop bets heading into the draft um and obviously
there is much to discuss there, John Campbell, what are
you seeing in terms of interest level on gambling with
the NBA in the NHL, what's moving the needle right now? Well,
a lot of interest so far, and in the NHL,
the Golden Knights continue to be a huge story in

(25:50):
the betting world books to see Golden Knight's action every
single night and they've been killing the books this year.
The Golden Nights one almost a thousand more dollars if
you've had hundred dollars per game on every team, they
won almost a thousand more than the second best team
this year. So that's one that's moving the needle. I
think a lot of people surprised by the Calves and
Lebron losing their first game here and the Raps looking

(26:14):
great early on in the playoffs. What would the number
look like tonight? I mean, the Calves are around an
eight point favorite. Is the public massively on Lebron James
because they expect the Calves to bounce back? Or where
do you see the money in terms of tonight's game, Yeah,
it's I think we'll see most of the money come
in as the game gets later. And this line moved
up a little bit. I think we'll see a lot

(26:34):
of Lebron money come in u with the expectation that
he's just going to put Cleveland on his back and
and come back and uh and carry them in this game.
But I'd be careful here in this one. Eight points
feels like a lot to me, and and I think
this is a bad matchup for the calves. Indiana plays
really good defense and they've been able to keep these

(26:55):
games low scoring with Cleveland this year. Their four and
one straight up and against the split against Cleveland this year,
and this is feeling like a lot of points here.
I think book No, they'll get Cleveland action and they'll
be happy to take Indiana with a bunch of points.
So so I'd be careful with this one if you're
looking at Cleveland tonight. What about in general this Caps
series against the Blue Jackets, which has gone into overtime

(27:18):
every single game, even though the Caps are down to one,
does Vegas now expect for the Caps to come back
and win this series? What's the expectation? Obviously a huge
Game three win for the Caps. Yeah, the really interesting
series here, and we'd only ever seen this happen five
times before this one where a team lost both games

(27:40):
in overtime at home to start a series in the
NHL Stanley Cup Finals. So the Caps were a team
that that I took at four to one before last
night's game to come back in this series. And I
just think these games have been way too close. The
Caps have blown some leads, and I think they can
come back and win this one. We haven't seen the

(28:00):
odds come out yet for for the series year, but
I think the Caps will be much closer to tow
the one going forward, and I like them to win
this series. I'm gonna keep taking them game to game
as the series goes on. What about any other future's
odds in the NBA or the NHL. Is there anybody
right now that you like as the series continue to progress,
maybe that you've gotten a better number in um? Do

(28:22):
you like potentially the opportunity for the Trailblazers to come
back against the Pelicans even though they lost their first
two at home. Is there anything out there that you're thinking, Man,
there's value here? Uh? Well, the New Jersey Devils six
to one, uh in not one against the Tampa Bay
Lightning is one that I really like. The home teams
won every game in that series, and the Devils were

(28:43):
successful in kind of drawing Tampa Bay into a nasty
kind of game last game. So that's one that intrigues me.
I love the Celtics to beat the Bucks game to game.
They were minus one nineties going into last night's game
to beat to win this series as well, So I
I think Cltics game. The game are going to win there.
The Heat is the other one that really interests me.

(29:05):
There plus two seventy five against the Sixers to win
this series. Sixers have more talent, but the Heat needs
all the right adjustments for me in Game two and
with the young Sixers team, I think there might be
some value as as this series goes on and d
Wade looking like it it's the mid two thousand's all
over again. You can also bet on prop bets for

(29:26):
the NFL Draft, which is eight days from now. We're
talking to John Campbell. He's at odd Shark at Johnny
odd Shark on Twitter. Sam Donald is minus two hundred,
Josh Allen plus one seventy five, s Kwon Barkley five
to one, Josh Rosen tend to one. Baker Mayfield fourteen
to one is at least the most updated numbers I
have seen. How how much do you expect that Donald

(29:48):
is going to be the overall number one pick or
do you think there's potentially value here and maybe the
idea of a trade or something wacky happening at the
top of the draft. Well, Kwon Barkley has been the
guy all along at five six to one, I got
him at ten to one at being the number one pick.
He's been the guy all along that I thought there
was some underdog value there. It's sounding like Donald is

(30:10):
the career cut number one here and we'll go number
one overall. But I don't love any of the quarterbacks
in the draft this year, so it might be the
year that you do want to kind of bank on
on a long shot and take a chance there on
this one. I just I just don't love any of
these guys. So but it does sound like it's gonna
be Donald. Anything else in the NFL draft prop bet

(30:32):
market that you like? I mean, is there anything else
that you will bet? I know we're eight days out
and we'll talk to you next week the day of
the day before the draft, But are there any that
you kind of pay attention to in these these markets
to make the draft a little bit more entertaining or
even potentially see value. Yeah, The the over under by
position props are are kind of fun for me. And
the total running backs in the first round, the over

(30:54):
unders one and a half and the over is minus
one sixty, so you have to pay a higher price
on that one. But I love over in the running backs.
I think this is a great year for for running
backs in the drafts, and I like the over on
that one. There total number of SEC players drafted in
the first round. Every year SEC leads the way in

(31:15):
terms of number of players drafted in the NFL draft.
The over under is eight there. I think I'll just
take over every year on that one, and you're gonna
come out okay most of the time. So those are
a couple that I liked early on. You're in Canada.
Is there a sense that the Raptors are incredibly disrespected
in the NBA as a Canadian? One? And two? Is

(31:36):
there value that you can unlock based on the Raptors
being from Canada and not necessarily respected as much as
they should be from a numbers perspective in the United
States market? Or am I over overthinking things that that
might happen. Well, Canadians do love to talk about being
overlooked with things. But I actually think this is one
time where the Raptors finally are getting the respect they deserve.

(32:01):
And we we're the third favorite coming into the NBA
playoffs here and a lot of people taking them really seriously.
They've got a deep bench, they're playing really well. So,
so this is actually the year where I think a
lot of the value has been sucked out of them
and they are finally being taken seriously. There are minus
seven fifty going into last night's game to win this series,

(32:22):
so so that one is almost a fore gone conclusion.
There's not a ton of value left in the Raptors.
It was at the start of the year. You can
get a much better price thirty two one ish um
early on in the year. By most of the value
is gone. Unfortunately with these guys. There's not much value
between Warriors and Rockets, and that seems to be the
expectation in the Western Conference Finals that one of those

(32:44):
two teams is going to advance and be favored substantially
to win the NBA title overall. Is there anybody in
the East that you can take a flyer on that
you think makes sense, or even anybody in the West.
Is there anybody else other than those two that you
think can win the title? The Celtics is the one.
It's It's tough. I think the Warriors is gonna win overall,

(33:04):
But if I'm looking at those underdogs, the Celtics are
a team that I'm kind of looking at here still
the number one defense in the NBA. They went fifteen
and seven now sixteen and seven against the spread without
Kyrie Irving still playing really well. So if you want
to reach down and kind of take a long shot,
they're one team I'm looking at. Oklahoma City is another team.

(33:26):
They've got some talent, but but I really think it's
going to be the Warriors. They're just they're just way
too good. Good stuff is always John Campbell. We'll talk
to you next week. That's at Johnny Odd Sharko follow
him on Twitter. Final segment of the hour, Let's have
some fun. It's Animal Thundered Dome Time. I'm Clay Travis.
I'll kick the coverage on Fox Sports Radio. Wouldn't you

(33:49):
love a bigger tax refund? Tax Layer was the highest
rated for maximum refund, so you have more cash to
spend on whatever the heck you want this tax season.
Go out and slay it, max your re funded tax
Layer dot Com Wednesday edition now kicked the coverage. Let's
have a little bit of fun here, Animal Thunderdome Time,
and this story off the top is going to make
a lot of people nervous. Let's roll, ladies and gentlemen,

(34:19):
I'm just glad. I was scared. Boys and goods. I
thought he thought I was like this enormous piece of
chicken diarm times. I had to my this is animal thunderdog.
Would you believe me if I told you that kowalas

(34:41):
have a hundred percent These cuddly cute Australian marsupials, I
believe they are. They have a hundred percent clamidior rate.
And this is this is not good. Uh. The infectious
bacteria usually isn't fatal, but they severely impact Koala's health.
Young Koala, this is unbelievable. For over two decades, scientists

(35:02):
have known that they are have a massive lamidia problem. Uh,
and they don't know how to get rid of it. Uh.
They have treatments and everything else. This article is unbelievable.
But koalas again, uh have a near one percent chlamidia rate.
You thought humans had trouble in the age of apps

(35:24):
and everything else. Those cuddly koalas a little bit frisky.
A hundred percent chlamidia rate. With that lead in, I'll
toss it to you. Jason Martin is days in an
Australian company. Maybe Usher's friends with a lot of the
Koala community. Maybe I'm just saying this is interesting. I
just read about this. Looks like woolly mammoths. We remember

(35:46):
we had our dinosaur expert from Alberta on uh last month,
six weeks ago something like that. Well, we asked him
about potentially being able to bring back species using old
d N. A Harvard professors and scientists right now believe
that they have found a way to clone the long
extinct wooly mammoth. This is pretty cool, I think. Yeah.

(36:07):
They've been using DNA from a wooly mammoth found perfectly
preserved in ice in Siberia that died somewhere around forty
two thousand years ago. They're merging genes from that with
that of elephants, and they believe that they're gonna be
able to resurrect the species. In coming weeks, they're actually
gonna publish scientific papers laying out a detailed plan which

(36:28):
involves a revolutionary technique that will create implant mammalion embryos
and might be able to bring wooly mammoths back to life.
That's quite amazing. How big was the wooly mammoth? Is
it like a normal sized elephant or is it substantially
bigger anybody knows. I want to say it's big. Let's see,

(36:49):
shoulder height was nine to eleven feet tall and weighed
around six tons. So how does that compare? I mean,
I have no idea how that compares to a normal elephant.
I wanted to say an elphan. It was around one ton,
maybe two tons, but I believe it's like two or
three times the size of an elephant. Yeah, that would
be really cool to be able to take advantage of that.
What about you guys out in l A. What you got? So?

(37:11):
In San Antonio over the weekend, residents were taking pictures
of baboon's on the loose from the Texas Biomedical Research Institute.
Officials now are making changes to their enclosure after four
bab boons briefly escaped from their facility on Saturday. The
animal care team says that the baboons rolled a fifty
five gallon barrel upright narrow wall, which they climbed onto escape.

(37:36):
It's a forty year old facility, so they need to
make some changes there. The baboons were recovered in thirty minutes,
but officials were nervous because they couldn't find the fourth one.
They did a head count, and they determined that the
fourth had returned to the enclosure almost immediately because it
was scared, but the other three ran around San Antonio
for a half hour. You know what's unfortunate about this

(37:58):
is they basically like, this is like a human attempt
to break out of an enclosure, right, I mean it's
not like I mean they they used their brain power
to try to do this, which makes you think, man,
maybe we shouldn't be keeping them in uh in restrained cages. Right.
They're smart enough to be able to figure out how
to use an object to escape. It's like humans in

(38:19):
a in a in a prison or something, you know,
like they're trying to figure out how to get out
of there. Yeah, it's funny you say that. They said
the barrel was put there because they they determined that
it was an enrichment tool that helped the baboons mimic
foraging behavior. But after the escape, the staff says the
barrels were moved and they're gonna figure out how to
modify it in a different way. Yeah. Wow, I mean

(38:40):
that is a pretty crazy, crazy story. Um, anything else
out there, just so we need to correct this before
someone does it for us on Twitter. As I said,
we're gonna do some research here. Uh, the African elephant
the Asian elephant are a little bit shorter than mammoths,
but they're about the same size. So it was long
thought that mammos force huge. They're actually not. They're about

(39:01):
the same size. They do have six ft long tusks,
which separates them quite a bit from what we saw,
but they're not nearly as big as I thought they were.
And they also have hair, right, yes, I mean, which
would be the biggest change. But so the size wise
is not like they're they're like, you know, Leviathans or
something in comparison to the modern day elephants. All right,
real quickly, this is a bad idea. I just want

(39:22):
to say that you're on the record. It's necessarily idea.
I think it's I think it's a great idea. I
think it can just only because you want to kill
all the sea lions, but you want to bring back
I want to kill the sea lions if they are
deadly and trying to kill people. If they are just friendly,
I'm fine with them. Uh, we'll discuss and come back.
It's Clay Travis's outcake the coverage on Fox Sports Radio

(39:46):
Hour too oft and running. Jason Martin continues to fail
in the Animal Thunderdome. Blew it yesterday with the audio
that we were playing, way oversold it today, way over
sells the Wooly Mammoth. Frankly, I'm more bubbled by Justin
Cooper saying as we went to break that he's not
sure if he wants to have Wooly Mammoth's back. I

(40:07):
need to get more of an explanation of this. We're
live from the Geico Alt Kick Studios. Fifteen minutes could
save you fift or more on car insurance. Visit Geico
dot com for a free rate quote. So hold on, Justin, Like,
what is your argument for why we shouldn't bring back
the Wooly Mammoth. Look, I'm not I'm not like I

(40:28):
wouldn't consider myself a man of faith or anything like that,
But I do think that there's reasons that you know,
certain animals when extinct, and I don't know, I feel
like bringing them back is just asking for for complications.
What if it sets off some I don't know, something

(40:48):
in the the atmosphere, the environment, didn't just the earth
crumbles because something's here that wasn't supposed to be here anymore.
I don't know. It just rubs me the wrong way.
I'm actually intrigued by this because I thought everybody was
gonna be on my side that it's a good thing.
Now I I think the better argument you're arguing, like

(41:09):
Jurassic Park here that may be influenced by the movie
Jurassic Park, that if you bring back dinosaurs in one day,
rafters are gonna just eat people. Uh. I think the
intriguing question about this is if we can bring back
wooly mammoth's, what else could we bring back? In other words,
I'm not enough of a science. I have almost zero
scientific knowledge science, and like technology, I have no idea

(41:31):
how any of it works. But if you could bring
back a wooly mammoth, could you not bring back a
dead person? I mean, I mean this honestly, Like, is
the science not the same. If you can bring back
a wooly mammoth that's been frozen for forty two thousand years,
why couldn't you bring back Ted Williams or Walt Disney
who've been in cryogenic chambers since they died. I mean,

(41:56):
in any ideas they're like, I'm not saying you could
bring them back at the current age, but couldn't you
just take their d n A and reimplant their DNA
and somebody else and allow them to be born new again?
Am I totally wrong on this? Or would that not
be the same kind of logic? Like you'd have to
obviously have a parent carrying them, But if you had

(42:17):
somebody's d n A and you could somehow implant it,
could you not bring back a dead human any quale?
I mean, like, does that? I mean, am I crazy
for believing that the logic would apply there? I mean,
I imagine that they would be very genetically similar, but
I don't know how much, like uh, I guess remapping
of the DNA that they have to do like in

(42:39):
order to But I'm saying if they can do it
from a forty two thousand year old wooly mammoth, right
like this mooly mammoth has been dead for a long
ass time and just happened to be found in this
frozen tunder And by the way, the first time I
ever heard of this idea was and I'm not even
kidding about this. I mean like in Michael Crichton's book
Jurassic Park. I remember reading this as a kid. It

(43:00):
and the theory of Jurassic Park was that I think
it was it was a mosquitoes that were preserved in
amber that they were saying they could get the blood
from and then get the DNA from, and that turned
out to not be true. But we have been able
to extract I believe, some dinosaur DNA. But my question is,
if we can do it with this forty two thousand
year old dead wooly mammoth, why would you not be

(43:24):
able to do this same sort of technology with a human?
In other words, if I died tomorrow, I'm one day
old dead, they could clearly extract my existing DNA very
easily and it would still be very fresh. For lack
of a better term, I don't know what the technical
scientific term would be. Why could they not then allow

(43:47):
me to be physically reborn once they had my DNA.
If they can do it with a wooly mammoth, what's
keeping them from doing it for a human? Well, there
was a movie about this, I think it was the
early nineties, mid nineties. You remember Demolition Man with Stallone
and Wesley Snipes, Yeah, Wesley Snipes with blonde hair, that
they were pulled out of the chambers. Pull that A cried,

(44:10):
That's right, but they were. But they they brought them
back in their current physical form, right, Yeah. I mean so,
I mean, I'm not saying that you're that they would
use your existing body. They're not saying they would use
the existing wooly mammoth body. They're saying they would use
the existing d NA to bring back like a clone,
basically like a new version of that wooly mammoth. What

(44:32):
I'm saying, yeah, Yeah, What I'm saying is if that
science allows us to do that with a wooly mammoth,
why wouldn't we also be able to do that with
a human. That's maybe the more scary part is not
necessarily that we bring back to wooly mammoth. But if
we can bring back to wooly mammoth, why couldn't we
bring back like Abraham Lincoln and re rebirth them or

(44:54):
Thomas Jefferson or Martin Luther King Jr. Like if you
had their d N A, couldn't you in theory bring
back this person if you have their specific DNA code.
All of us have a unique DNA fingerprint, right, wouldn't
you in theory now now that would you know? Who
knows how much different that kid could turn out to be?
But wouldn't in theory that allow I mean, am I

(45:16):
totally Am I blowing everybody's mind out there? Or is
the logic here not sound that this would be possible? Well?
It would. It would definitely test the uh, the merits
of like nature versus nurture, that's for sure. Well, yeah,
I mean clearly, I mean it would. It would raise
all sorts of interesting questions because people always say, well,
imagine what Abraham Lincoln would be like if he grew

(45:37):
up today. Well, I mean, you might actually be able
to do it. Now. Those guys are older, what I
am saying, you know, I mean, and their DNA hasn't
been frozen like happened to this wooly mammoth. But we
we know, for instance, like Walt Disney at least as
rumored to be in a cryogenic chamber, and Ted Williams Jr.
In the world of sports, And I mean, is there
anybody out there who's disputing? And by anybody out there,

(45:58):
I mean the three of you, doesn't my logic seems
like it would hold true here. Yeah, in theory, like
I mean, I just I don't know enough. Um, I'm
trying to find it. Doesn't it would be I mean, basically,
doesn't it seem like it would be much harder to
bring back a forty two thousand year old extinct wooly
mammoth that has been frozen in like in the in

(46:21):
the in the you know, mountains of Siberia or wherever
the heck this thing was from Antarctica, wherever it was.
Doesn't it seem like that would be more difficult than
bringing than rebirthing a person a couple of days after
they died. Yeah, I mean that that part does make sense.
The one thing I was thinking about and I was
trying to see if there was any kind of theory

(46:42):
on this. It looks like it backs up kind of
what was in my head, which is all right, Let's
say we bring back Martin Luther King, just as an example.
It wouldn't be the same guy, Like obviously, if you're
trying to clone him his surroundings, his upbringings, experiences, yes, correct,
but his intellect would be the same, right like his

(47:02):
all of his physical traits would be the exact same.
I mean, he would be the same height, he'd be
the same weight. In theory, uh, he would be like
the same intelligence. Like and I think this would be true.
And let's use somebody who's less historically charged. Let's use me.
Pretend that I die tomorrow and then I am reborn. Yeah,
you're rooting for that to happen because you think I'm saying,

(47:24):
oh please, Like this is ridiculous. Could like I was reborn,
I'm thirty nine, like obviously growing up as a millennial
pussy willow. Maybe I would be a different person than
I am now, but I would probably be the same
height and weight, right, I would be the same eye color,
I would be the same. Mean like I would be
a clone of myself. Now, my experiences would be different,

(47:46):
which could like like justin Cooper saying, the nature versus nurture, uh,
discussion is incredibly interesting, and I would have different parents
and uh and all those things. But in theory, wouldn't
that be possible? Now there are all sorts of ethical
issues associated with it. But my thing with science is
if you can do it. My thought is somebody somewhere

(48:08):
in the world is going to do it right, maybe
not even in America, maybe in China, maybe in India,
maybe in Russia wherever. Like I think that our safeguards
in America are probably more pronounced. Wouldn't that be possible?
Am I create? Like people can reach out to me
on Twitter? I that that is that Justin Cooper has
got me thinking, not because of the wooly mammoth, but

(48:30):
just because if we have the technology to do it
for a wooly mammoth, wouldn't we, in theory have the
technology to do it for other animals, which could down
the line lead to more ridiculousness. And I'm surprised that
it's not more dominant in the votes. Early this morning,
I pull a question of the day. Harvard scientists say
they believe they're able to bring back the wooly mammoth

(48:52):
from extinction. Are you in favor of this? Yes? Fift
What if you could bring back Babe Ruth and put
him in my d day baseball? Would he be a
badass or would he be like a fact guy who's
not very good? Would he be a major League Baseball player?
If you had all the modern technology and you brought
back Babe Ruth or Ted Williams, would he still bad
four hundred. It's like you legitimately could bring back a

(49:15):
clone and check and see once and for all whether
your argument of comparing airs makes sense. It seems like
I need to reach out and find a cloning scientist
somewhere that once. I think we need we need an expert,
because if we can bring back the Wooly mammoth, it
seems like we should be able to bring back any
person who died. Obviously not the exact same person, but

(49:35):
they would have the exact same physical traits. Am I
totally wrong with this? It's possible that we're all idiots.
It's somewhat Hollywood because there was one other movie on
my mind when you started talking about this. I don't
think it was as popular as Demolition Man. But do
you remember the movie Godsend from the early two thousands. Uh?
Greg Knir and uh who else? I think there was

(49:56):
another famous actor and oh, Robert de Niro was the doc.
A fertility doctor believed that he could clone um Canar son,
but things started to go drastically wrong on his eighth birthday.
But this is the son like that had died, and
they bring him back so they did exactly what you're
talking about. That's the immediate thing that I think about

(50:18):
in these situations as parents who have lost children, UM
wanting to make the decision to bring them back. And
did it? Am I crazy? Or didn't Barbara Streisanne just
say she was cloning her cat? Did I totally make
that story her dog? Okay? So she's trying to bring
back the like the dog died and we have the
ability to bring back the exact same dog. Yeah, two

(50:42):
of her dogs were clones of her previous dog, Samantha,
who had recently died. So I mean the she just
basically got a brand new puppy from the dog that died,
two of them. I mean that. So, I mean my
theory has to be true, right, I mean, if you
can do that with dogs. First of all, I can't
believe something looks like I'm I mean, it would be
the exact same. You get something that looks like them,

(51:03):
And that's pretty much it. Based on all the all
the evidence of anything that's ever been done with animals
to this point that I can find. Everybody that does
it ends up disappointing because they're completely different except that
they look the same. Okay, so I don't understand how
that's possible, but I'm not Maybe it's just the science
on this thing. I'm not. So you would look the
exact same, But why would things be different? Wouldn't you

(51:24):
have because you raise them differently, Like I don't want
everything different about them, Their experiences, all of the stuff
that made them who they were would not be the
same now, but you would have then, but you would
have the same shell basically, right, you would have there'd
be a capacity for intellect, like there there'd be a
capacity to potentially have the same intellect, but you have
no idea all of the other factors that Then what

(51:47):
I'm saying, if you if you had a three year
old who died right, like it's like one of the
worst things that can happen in the world, you could
theoretically have that three year old cloned and raise them
the exact same because it's not like I raised any
of my kids differently. Now, my life experiences can be
different everything else. But I think that by the time

(52:07):
the two three year olds were the same age, they
would be very similar because I I mean, I don't
imagine that the experience of you know, I've got a
three year old. I don't imagine that his three year
experience would be substantially different for this three years, then
it would be if I had another kid and raise
that kid. Now the differences. If I had another kid,
that kid has a completely different d n A, like

(52:29):
a completely different d n A, completely different uh, you know,
genes and everything else. Which is one of the great
things about being a parent is you raise all your
kids the exact same, but they all turn out differently
because they're all unique individual people. But if you have
the exact same kid from a g n A d
n A and genetic perspective, my mind is starting to

(52:51):
get blown here. If we're doing this for dogs and
now we're bringing back to wooly mammoth, you get You
can't tell me that somebody rich in like China, who
can do whatever they want, or maybe even in America,
hasn't done this with a kid. You just can't happen, Danny.
Maybe somebody in India should find that newborn that the

(53:13):
monkey kidnapped and dropped into a well and try it
with that kid. Yeah, that's even more the case because
that baby clearly hasn't even developed that much. Well, I don't.
I don't think personality is is found in your genetics, right,
that's my point. That's my point. I'm saying I look
like him and is nothing else like him. But I
think you would have the if you're raising the kid

(53:35):
the same I think the personality traits would develop the
same way. No, not necessarily, because I mean you could
have a set of twins and raise them the same way,
but one ends up being shy and the other's outgoing.
Not necessarily, but I think that's I think that's there.
I don't know. I mean, I I don't think, first

(53:56):
of all, twins are not typically that much different if
they are identical for a D n A. Right, I don't.
I'm blown away by this. I don't know how it
would work, but Barbara Streisand is doing it, and somehow
that's just okay. I don't. I'm scaring a lot of
people out there. I think it's a brave new world.
Alice Huxley was right. Anyway, we're gonna bring in Jeff Swartz.

(54:18):
I'm sure he's an expert on this. We'll talk about
this in the NFL draft. Does Jeff Schwartz want to
clone himself? Uh? And when he ended up in an
NFL player two. This is out kicked the coverage. We
need some spooky music as we leave, because I'm sort
of to spend my I'm terrifying everybody across the country
this morning because they're sitting around thinking the same questions,
and inevitably there's some amazing DNA scientists who's out there,
who's listening to us? You can call in eight seven

(54:40):
seven six three six nine. Why am I wrong? Here?
If I am wrong? Uh, this is outkicked the coverage
on Fox Sports Radio. I'm gonna have to apologize. Like
the Virginian Tech women's lacrosse team, freehy Friday. Don't sing
along whatever you do. You're white, don't sing along everybody.

(55:04):
That's racist. Everybody's got it to do. List, drop off
the dry cleaning, pick up some milk. Here's an idea.
Let's add save hundreds of dollars on car insurance. Good
thing is you don't have to drop off or pick
up anything. All you have to do is go to
Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could be
saving fifteen percent or more on car insurance, extra money
in your pocket. It just may be the most rewarding
to do you today. I have not around teenagers very often, thankfully. Um,

(55:24):
but I was when I was down on the beach
after this story blew up and we spent some time
talking about it on the show. Everywhere I went on
the beach, the kids, it was spring break. I was
down there with my kids. Everywhere I went, the kids
were playing this song, I mean, on the beach and
I wouldn't even known it otherwise without the scandal blowing
up involving the Virginia Tech women's across team. But this

(55:44):
is uh, this is uh an unbelievable story that hopefully
has played out. But we're talking about cloning. Jeff George
everything about cloning. Yeah, if I myself per say but
I thought about yeah, I would, I'd be down for that.
So we're talking about the pole question is they're talking
about the fact they can bring back the wooly mammoth.

(56:05):
Do you have a favorite mammal, favorite animal that's extinct
that you would bring back if you could, a favorite
extinct animal I would bring back, just like the Jettie.
Is that an extinct animal? Is that just not exist?
Is that not exist? Well? I don't think it ever existed.
You can't create an animal that didn't exist. You're not God. Um,
thank you think I was? Um, I don't know what

(56:26):
I mean. I think it's it's fun to bring back
the dinosaur. Yeah, I think the idea of Jurassic Park
is pretty phenomenal as long as they don't get out
and start to kill you. Um. And so I think
that would do you imagine an animal underdown segments that
we had a living Jurassic Park unbelievable. And also if
we had the excitement of bringing these animals back, a

(56:47):
lot of you want to save or two tiger back.
But I'm freaked out now because I'm asking the question,
if we have the ability to clone, uh, like the
bring back the wooly mammoth, why couldn't we just immediately
re bring back somebody who died. Yeah, I just I
don't know if I don't know if I like that,
like yeah, that's free. It freaks me out, Like, I

(57:09):
just I think that like there is obviously like life
and death, and I kind of I believe in that
that idea. Are you washing dishes? What are you doing
right now? No, I'm trying dropping food off at my
kids chairs and don't don't scream while I do this.
Um um no, no, I I like to I kind
of understand the concept that life of life and death

(57:31):
and would be weirdest people lived forever. And also if
you're able to bring people back, because then obviously who
do you choose to bring back? And yeah, it just
it kind of freaks me out, Like I don't know.
And here's the other thing. I don't think we're that
far away from having somebody able to like distill every
memory in your head, right, Like, I don't think we're

(57:51):
that far away from somebody being able in the same
way that you can download like computer files. I don't
think we're that far away from somebody figuring out how
the download memories, right and then and if that were
to happen, then you could upload whatever memories you want
into somebody's brain and convince them or remind them of

(58:11):
who they are, right because people say, oh, you couldn't
create the same person again. But I don't think we're
that far away from being able to take you know,
like almost micro chip style. And I have no idea
whether this is true or not, but it seems to
me like the way technology is going, we could do this,
that you could grab everybody's memories, but don't you start

(58:33):
a need like some some sort of like connection to
those memories, like some sort of not to get too deeper,
you need like a soul to connect your stuff to
those memories. And I think if you just upload memories
into someone's body that doesn't that they're just going to
be freaked out and not really know how these memories
checked themselves and how. I don't know about that. I

(58:53):
think that you would if you went to I think
I don't know, first of all, I have no idea how,
but you're able to con its people like via hypnosis
that they believe things, assuming that hypnosis is real. I
don't know why you wouldn't be able to upload somebody
else's you know, like memories into your brain and make

(59:13):
you believe that that was real. Whose memories would you
want to upload to your brain? Well, that's a fantastic question.
I mean, this is like Freaky Friday. We just came
back with. Who would you want to change places with?
Freaky You know, Freaky Friday was filmed in my high
school while I was at while we were in school,
like while I was there, the Lindsay Law Went movie. Yeah,
it was filmed in my high school, and they filmed

(59:35):
it during um, during what we were actually in class,
they filmed, and then during recess at lunch they shut
off film and they filmed obviously after schools over. So
I had friends who got who were extras because they
left class early for whatever reason. It just got like
put into a scene. It's like Walker as a high school.
So that the best part about the whole thing that
I remember was, Um, the extras they used to play

(59:57):
high school students look nothing like us. They like seven
thirty years old, um, playing high school student extras, you know,
and we're obviously sixteen eighteen, Yes, my high school. Yeah.
It was like the the nine o two one oh
thing when they had Andrea Zuckerman playing like a high
school student and she was like thirty five. Yeah, you

(01:00:17):
know people think that that I college high school kids
think they look so much older than they actually do. Um.
And so they had like legitimate Now in Dawson's Creek,
they had people who were relatively similar in age. Uh.
That would have been amazing if you'd gotten in Freaky
Friday and Lindsay Lohan. Uh. It was basically like that
was when she was everybody thought like, this is the
next uh Elizabeth Taylor. We didn't see We didn't see her,

(01:00:41):
her Jamie league Curtis, we didn't see any any of them.
Kept us away from them. I don't for even were
the trailer's rat. But yeah, the set was in the
middle of our clause. How long did they film? It's
good question, Um a couple of weeks. I I want
to match. I mean they were there a long time. Yeah,
I mean I think they just try get all the
high school scenes high of the way early. I don't

(01:01:02):
remember them ever doing the reshoot. I mean maybe it
was in the summer they came back and did a reshoot.
But um, my high school gets used a lot modern families.
They're all their high school scenes and football things are
there right now. What high school was that in l
A Pacific Palaces? Is that a public Is that a
private school? No? Public school? Okay, that's pretty cool. Alright, So,
uh NFL draft, Um, when you look, I feel like

(01:01:25):
we're gonna talk to you next week, the day before
the draft. But am I correct that the that the
Giants at two are the lynchpin for what's gonna end
up happening. Yes, unless the Browns screw up the number
one tack and then the Johnson draft Sam Donald. If
if the if the Browns take Josh Allen, which to

(01:01:46):
me I still can't believe they would do that. But
if they do that, then the Giants will script to
the table and draft Stamp Generald. I think that's the
only quarterback they truly love. But then, like you said
it too, there's so many options for them to do.
They can obviously stay there and and draft Josh Rosen.
How have a hard time believing they'll stay at two
and take a position player that's not a quarterback. Um,
I just I don't think Dave Gentleman would reach for

(01:02:08):
running back to maybe Chubb the d N from NC State,
but he doesn't really fit their their defense. Just trade
away JPP because he's not a fit for them. I'm
not sure he fits. I can see them trading out
of two, and you have the Broncos obviously, then the
Bills are aggressively trying to move up because they're an
arrange at twelves right now where they're not going to
get themselves a top quarterback. I think they really want

(01:02:28):
what I think I look how I did some research
on the bill. Josh Rosen would be the perfect fit
for what they want to do that they're they're o
c Well, he really hasn't been good anywhere he's been. Um,
he likes the protypical six to the six four pocket
passer who can't move very well. If you look at
who he's had a quarterback, UM, that's who he had.
He was in New England as well. That he never

(01:02:49):
coached Tom Brady, but he was there with Tom Brady. Um,
and that's I think who they're going to target. Uh
So Giants could trade out takes down Donald or or
probably at a drafted Josh Rosen, which I heard they're
they're too high on. This could be a wild by man.
I mean, there's just a possibility of four quarterbacks draft
of the first four picks, definitely three in the first three.

(01:03:11):
And I think that's a certain Um, there's never been
more than four quarterbacks taking in the first round. I
think we're easily gonna get five. You're a smart guy.
Uh you played in the NFL. Do you ever remember
somebody in the NFL being so smart that they didn't
have any interest in being in the NFL? And The
reason why I'm asking that question, obviously, is because Josh Rosen,

(01:03:31):
even though he's not testing as smart on the Wonderlick
as a lot of other guys. I mean, he's he's
a smart guy, but I feel like his uh, the
expectation of how smart he is is kind of off
the charts relative to his testing. But I'm just curious
on this. Do you and your career in the NFL,
or in college for that matter, ever remember somebody who
was playing football and was so smart they just didn't

(01:03:53):
have any interest in football and as a result didn't
have a very successful career. No, I mean I didn't.
I mean the one guy to ever played with was
John Herschel and the guy who's I g right now
who end up retiring to do to do math. I
mean that's like the one example. But he's a brilliant
he's brilliant Scholler. I mean, I think that he made
the right decision. Um, we had an offensive linement who
had to play with Jeff Angarder who's got a forty

(01:04:13):
eight on the Wonderlock years. He loved football, he was
he was obviously brilliant mind. He went to a and
m Um, you know I think that the too smart thing. Um,
it doesn't. It doesn't mean that you you don't want football.
I think that coaches don't like to be challenged. Um,
and you have to realize that that millennials, I guess
how smart they stop you there? How smarter coaches like

(01:04:37):
in the NFL, they're not see that. Here's the thing is,
they're not. I wouldn't I would say they're not. Um
like they wouldn't score high on on testing. But they
obviously know the game. Mean the best ones doing. Look,
there's not good coaches everywhere, just like there's not good
in any profession, right like not all thirty two And
that's not how coaches are doing. Not all thirty two.
Oh c's are good, especially all three two offensive line coaches.

(01:05:00):
Here's what Here's what it is. Here's why. Here's why
NFL people don't like that. What guys are too smart
is because they spend all hours of the day composing
a game plan, putting it together, watching the film. And
they come down the meeting room on Wednesday and say,
look and its slab. You know, here's your game plan
for the week. They don't want you to say, well,
I'm not sure about this play coach, because they just
spent five hours going over that one play. He as

(01:05:22):
a player or like, I just I don't really know
if I liked that play. But what happens if we
have to say, he's down here and we do this
and they do that. And that's why coaches hate it
because they spent all these hours formulating a game and
they spent a play. I'm not they spend They'll spend
two hours working on one single play and you come
down there and players are on that one play. They're
not gonna be happy about that. So that's what they

(01:05:43):
worried about with Josh Rosen is that is that he
keeps questioning why why do we do? Which I think
is great because that's how I was. I want to
know I played faster if I knew why we did something.
I just did. Um And and I like guy and
Josh Rosen. I think this is so overblown. Um I
think he he if you if you read his interviews,
he's apologized for force, for the things he's done. His dad,

(01:06:05):
by the way, voted for for Donald Trump. So you
think he's like this raging liberal who who hates he
might hate Donald Trump. It doesn't mean that you're a
raging liberal if you hate Donald Trump. But his dad
was a donor and and voted for Donald Trump. So um,
like it's just all the stuff keeps going up proportion.
It is interesting. How do we know that? Is that
a story that they've written about es ESPN dot com

(01:06:29):
just came out with a story he the interview, We
actually interviewed the author, the journalist on My Pat twelve
today's show and Serious. So the interview was done before
the Jim Moore comments came out, and he asked him
to if he wanted to come on and do well interviewed.
The interview was done before it came out after the comments,
and we asked him if you wanted to add to that.
He said no, But um, he said Josh Rosen. He

(01:06:51):
came in thinking to the interview that Josh Rosen would
be the jerk that everyone made him out to be.
He thought he was the opposite. He answered questions and
very honestly. You know he you know, they asked him,
you know what do you regret? He said, Look, I
was eighteen years old. I shouldn't have warned the the
f Trump hat. I thought it was kind of funny.
And I think we run into this with with kids
at that age where you know, they think about, well,
how's it gonna look on social media. Everyone won't love

(01:07:12):
this on social media, not realizing that it goes further
than social media. Um. And so he said, look, I
was immature. I didn't I act in a certain way
when I was eighteen and nineteen years old. You know,
I got handed this this job at U c l A.
I was a little arrogant. I was a little cocky.
I regret being that way. I was also eighteen years old.
I'm now older, I'm more mature now. Um. And I
thought the interview was great interview. He said, look he

(01:07:34):
was my dad voted for Donald Trump. He donated Donald Trump.
Now my mom is is a liberal feminist. But I'm
kind of in the middle. Like I just think the
hat put you know, the hat for me just was funny. Um.
I probably shouldn't have done it. Now I look back
on I won't make that mistake again. Um. But you
know what, we have to do the research on all
these guys and see what they're about. And I thought
the interview was great. Josh was upstand so of the

(01:07:57):
quarterbacks and look it doesn't matter who you are. As
you break down the quarterbacks, you could be like, oh,
this guy is phenomenal, He's incredible, He's gonna be the
greatest quarterback of all time. And you could be wrong. Right,
these guys watch all this film, it's almost impossible. What
do you think the Browns are gonna do? My theory
as the Browns are gonna take Sam Donald because if
Sam Donald bust, people are gonna say, well, you know

(01:08:20):
he was a big star at USC that happens, right,
The Browns have busted for twenty years. If you take
Josh Allen and he busts, everybody's gonna say, oh my god,
what were the Browns ever thinking? He went to Wyoming,
he had a fifty seven percent completion percentage, you never
played against anybody. This is typical Browns. So I think

(01:08:40):
when you get into that situation, if you're Jimmy Haslum,
ultimately you say, okay, go with Sam Donald because if
he busts, everybody's gonna say, well, you know, what can
you expect? Versus if you go Josh Allen, who may
have a higher ceiling, but if he bust everybody's gonna
be like, oh, the Browns are idiots. Of course they
took Josh Allen. Does that make any sense? Uh? I
don't think so. But I think the Browns want to

(01:09:01):
draft the best guy. I'm not sure worried I understand that.
But if you but if you know it's a coin
flip and you draft a guy that everybody thinks should
be the number one overall pick and he bombs, then
it's like you'd avoid the you avoid the ridicule. I
mean either way, either way, John Dorsey will get fired
if bat this pick doesn't work out. But I do
think that you were better than nine if you're John

(01:09:24):
Dorsey and having drafted Sam Donald than Josh Allen. Josh
and Ellen only completed by the like four percent of
passes and juco. I mean that's that's like, that's I
don't understand. I excuses we make for him, he had,
he had a lower drop percentage rank de Lamar Jackson
and Sam Donald and Josh Rosen, um excuses we make
for Josh Allen's uh inaccuracies. Um is just it's astounding

(01:09:48):
because he you know, he obviously has oh tibvious said
this before. I mean, he reminds me of Jake Walker.
I would not touch him with a pick that high
at one. Maybe in the teams you go ahead and
take a flyer on him, but um, you know, John
Dors you did draft Pat Mahomes last year and now
a while that was Andy Reid, and that's another kid
that you might you know, compare Josh Allen too. But
if you watch Pab Mahomes film, I mean he completed passes.

(01:10:09):
I know he's an air raid in offense, but he
was sensational. And you know, in another excuse, I hear
all the times Josh Rosen had no protection. Have you me,
Josh Allen? Have you watched U C L A film?
Josh Rosen got beat up every single week? And I
just don't like these excuses for for Josh Allen. I
would not draft him number one. Uh. I think the
Browns will, I'll do the right thing. Um. But here's

(01:10:31):
the thing is, you know people are saying, well, the
Browns are putting out these rumors to to to to
you know, to you know, to throw people off the set.
But why they have the number one pick. There's no
reason to put out rumors, um, who of who you're taking,
unless you're trying to force someone to trade up to two.
I don't understand why they would care about that. Um,
but it's real. I mean there's there's five legit sources
that say they're taking Josh Allen and as of right now,

(01:10:54):
and you know, and in the offshore books have adjusted.
I mean, there's what I've seen that has Josh Allen
as a favorite. So, um, it's I can't imagine they
would screw this up that badly. But they're the Browns.
Ask question for you, if you were a GM what's
dead Bryant Worth, would you pursue him at all? I
think you're looking at a one year deal, almost like
what Alshon Jeffrey got a couple of years ago. He

(01:11:15):
goes like one year, nine ten million dollars maybe two
year deal to spread some hit over over the two
years of the contract. Um. I think that he's gonna
find his market will not be as as big as
he thinks. He's definitely not going to the NFC East.
I mean that the Eagles have no money and they
don't need him. The Redskins aren't gonna win anytime student
I think, so he's not gonna want to go there.
The Giants absolutely don't want him. I mean they want

(01:11:36):
a cultural change, and I don't think he adds much
to to being a change of culture. It doesn't seem
like the Dave gentleman type of player. Plus, they have
O'dalla Shepard and Ingram and Brandon Marshall's back. They don't
need him. Um. I think the Niners are an option.
I like the Houston Texans as an option. Honestly, they
have to established wide receivers, so you can put Das
kind of in a possession wide receiver role just you know,

(01:11:58):
you know, you're not gonna ask him to get a separation,
but just makes a big catches. Look, he's in his thirties,
is a wide receiver man, Like, you're not gonna he's
not gonna get the Martin. He's gonna get it. Good
stuff as always, Jeff Shorts, we'll talk to you next week.
Gonna be the eve of the NFL Draftniks wranging man, Yeah,
no problem, that's Jeff Shorts. Go follow him on Twitter. Also,
he's hosting on Friday. I'm in New York City on

(01:12:19):
Friday and Jason Martin and Jeff Shorts are gonna be
hosting in a couple of days. So he'll be on
the show before between now and then hosting the show
on Friday. Let me bring in Eddie Garc I find
out what shaking the world of sports claim the NBA Playoffs.
The Pelicans beat the Triblazers one eleven to one oh
two New Orleans. The sixth seed wins the first two
games of the series on the road against Portland. The
three seed Raptors over the Wizards one thirty to one,

(01:12:41):
nineteen to Mark de ros and thirty seven points for
Toronto Is. They have the two of the series lead,
and that's the first time in their franchise is history
they've led a playoff series two games to nothing. Celtics
beat the Bucks once twenty to one oh six Jalen
Brown thirty points as Boston grabs the two series lead.
NHL Playoffs Golden Night shut off the King's one nothing.
Vegas sweeps the series in four games all over the
top of the Capitals to be the Blue Jackets three

(01:13:01):
to two Columbus was a two one series advantage, and
the Jets shut off the Wild to nothing. Winnipeg has
a three one series lead. The supports brought to you

(01:13:23):
tryout for Monday Night Football and apparently is no longer
in the running to be the color analyst for that
job of Jon Gruden. Yeah, and then he sent a
tweet out saying like something along those lines that he
had done some sort of work and he wasn't sure
if he wanted to do it, which is the ultimate
Brett Farve tweet, right, like he never knew what he
was gonna do. But they are trying to figure out

(01:13:45):
what they're gonna do with Monday Night Football and bring
in a lot of guys to different tests. By the way,
my guy Sam Batasha sent me a He texted me
he's a producer at FS one works out in l A.
On his way into to work this morning, he says
that one of the topics we've had about like basically
bringing back. Bringing back a Kid via Cloning is a
Black Mirror episode. I haven't watched Black Mirror, but I

(01:14:08):
know that there are It's like a modern day Twilight Zone.
And uh and I've I've told that there are a
lot of freaky episodes there. They'll make your head spin
a little bit. And that's one of the episodes that
they have done there. I haven't watched it, but that's intriguing.
Jason Wentlock just texted me to he say he's gonna
hop on with us an hour. Three's in Indianapolis native.
He's a Pacers fan to talk about Caps, Pacers and more.
That should be fun. He's gonna join us next hour,

(01:14:29):
final segment of our two up next. Did you see
about Jim Harbaugh getting threatened by a former player on suspension.
We need to talk about this next on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:14:53):

In general with social media is that we don't really
know what normal behavior is because it's just been kind
of thrust upon us, and everybody's kind of figuring that
out as they go. And I have long been of
the opinion that we need to treat social media more

(01:15:14):
like real life. And that brings me to this story,
which to me is pretty wild. Um, Jim Harbaugh was
threatened on Twitter by a former player who they're investigating
right now. I don't know if you saw these tweets.
To me, this is a pretty big story. The guy
sent tweets and said Michigan is open carry. Let's not

(01:15:36):
forget that. Not your friend, and they sent someone to
my crib before I was nice enough to call the cops.
Next time, I'm calling the Morgue. I'm talking with facts. Uh.
This is a former linebacker from Michigan who have played
in seven games as a freshman in two thousand sixteen,
played four games last season. UH, and he has been
indefinitely suspended as he goes through a variety of different situations.

(01:16:01):
The Michigan put out a statement yesterday about this player,
saying he left the football program in mid November, no
longer with the team. He has been threatening Jim Harbaugh online. Um,
and he tagged Jim Harbaugh's Twitter account and said, uh
that these things that I'm reading and also said he
was suspended for going to take care of my family.

(01:16:21):
He uh, and they're now investigating him. I think in general,
and I don't know how many people out there agree
with me, but I I believe this, if you threaten
someone on on social media, you should be prosecuted the
same way that you would if you said it in person.
And I think we need to start sending people to
jail for things like these now. I look, I've gone

(01:16:42):
after Jim Harbaugh and made fun of Michigan some over
the failure of his team. But to me, this is
an important case where we can send a message and
I think this needs to happen, and it's it's happened
to me. I think I've told this this story before
on the air, but I had someone when I was
going out to l a every weekend, tag me and

(01:17:04):
my wife on Twitter and when we lived in our
old house in Nashville. They took a picture of my
house on GIA on Google Earth and they tagged me
and my wife and said, we know when you are
in l A doing work and your wife and kids
are home without you and tagged the picture of my

(01:17:25):
house in on Twitter. Uh Now I reported that to me,
the person who does that should be prosecuted and go
to jail. Like I think, if you threaten someone, you
should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law
on Twitter, and we should treat that the exact same
as if this guy had shown up at the Michigan

(01:17:46):
Football Complex and been yelling these threats at Jim Harbaugh.
I think we have allowed this world to exist where
people say things on social media that they would never
say on the radio, for instance, or that they would
never say on television. Now, you can agree or disagree
with everything that I say, but I would say everything

(01:18:08):
that I tweet, other than maybe occasional curse word, which
I'm not allowed to say for FCC reasons. I would
say on radio I would say on TV. My standard
for speech is no different from what I write versus
what I say, And I think that's the standard of
speech that should exist for everyone in the public, regardless
of you have a radio show like me, or you

(01:18:28):
just have a Twitter Twitter account like so many people
out there. And if you have an anonymous Twitter account,
I think if you make a threat like that, it
should be traced back to you and you should be prosecuted.
I think if we did a few of these prosecutions,
same thing with death threats to athletes everything else. I think,
if we need it, did a few of these prosecutions,

(01:18:49):
that social media would clean up in a hurry, because
I think right now people have this idea that the
real world doesn't apply on social media and that there's
no consequences for the speech. Now, I'm a free speech absolutist,
you know, I'm only the two things I believe in
completely are boobs in the First Amendment. Right. I've said
that many times, got in trouble for saying it on CNN.

(01:19:09):
But threatening someone's life is not protected speech. That's a crime,
and we need to treat it the same way. And
I would encourage the investigators up in at Michigan who
are looking into this to track down this guy. If
they can prove that he sent it from his account,
they need to charge him with crimes. They need to
charge him with legitimate crimes, and they need to start
doing it more and more frequently across the country. For

(01:19:32):
UH statements and tweets like these. Come back and final
hour of the show, we're gonna dive back into all
the NBA and NHL action. Jason Whitlock's gonna join us
at what Like Jason Live from l A to talk
about this Calv's Pacers game to which will be happening tonight,
all that more out Cake the coverage on Fox Sports
Radio from the Geico Outkicks studios. Fifteen minutes could save

(01:19:55):
you fifteen per cent or more on car insurance. Visit
Geico dot com for a free rate quote. We've got
scientific geniuses on hold who were gonna tell us a
minute about our cloning discussion. If you didn't hear an
hour two big poll question is out there today. This
is an interesting It's almost like an intersection of animal
Thunderdome and UH and biology and history and UH and

(01:20:17):
science and everything else. Harvard scientists say they believe they're
now able to bring back the wooly mammoth from extinction.
Are you in favor for this? And by the way,
if you're waking up across the country, yes, the wooly
mammoth might be coming back. Nearly ten thousand of you
have voted so far in the first hour fifty seven
percent in favor of it opposed to it, and that

(01:20:38):
led to a debate. But first, let me run through
the games that happened last night and give you a
roadmap what happened here in the final hour. We're gonna
talk with Jason Whitlock next segment. He's waking up early
with us. Obviously, the Calves are hosting the Pacers Game two.
We've had three days to think about the impact of
the Pacers eighteen point win in game one. What is
going to happen to game two? Uh? Jason Whitlocks INDIANAPO

(01:21:00):
as native. We'll talk with him and see what he
thinks is going to happen in UH in that story.
But for the games that happened last night, I would
say there are several different storylines. And by the way,
this is the time of year when there's so many
games happening in so many series. There are eight series
in the NBA going on, eight series in the NHL
going on. It's hard to track them all down. I mean, frankly,

(01:21:21):
it's hard to stay on top of all of them.
Trying to do that with you guys here the Raptors.
I am rooting for the Raptors now in the Eastern
Conference because I have decided that Canada is being discriminated against,
that they're getting no respect because they are a Canadian team.
So in that with that in in order, think of
all the things that happened yesterday in the Raptors win
over the Washington Wizards. There two and oh in a

(01:21:42):
series lead, as you just heard Eddie Garcia say, for
the first time in team history, which is pretty wild
to have never had a two oh series lead in
the history of the Toronto Raptors. They have a They
scored a franchise record hundred and thirty points last night.
They made sixteen three pointers, both of those are franchise records,
and Are Derosen tied his all time postseason best with

(01:22:03):
thirty seven points and Kyle Lowry had twelve assist which
is his best postseason mark ever. So the Raptors are
rolling right now. They are up to oh. The Washington
Wizards do not seem to have an answer for them.
I think it's fair to say the Raptors are likely
to advance. The Celtics. Brad Stevens getting the most out
of a team despite Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Herving both
being out, so the Celtics will get a double digit

(01:22:24):
win over the Bucks. Looks like the Celtics are good
to advance as well. And then we've got the Pelicans,
uh pulling off a second road upset, a second road
upset for the Pelicans, and now they go back to
New Orleans up too oh, trying to eliminate the Trailblazers,
who were the overall I believe, number three seed in

(01:22:44):
the Western Conference. In the NHL, best game of the
night in either the NBA or the NHL if you
were watching double overtime, the Caps come surging back after
losing two at home to the Blue Jackets. The Blue
Jackets lose at home in a game three are you
where they're trying to shut the door effectively on the Caps.
They lose in double overtime the Blue Jackets due to

(01:23:05):
three two. That series remains wide open to one. The
Blue Jackets lead with Game four in two days. The
Jets lock out probably the Minnesota Wild, taking it to
nothing win on the road to go up three one.
It looks like Winnipeg probably gonna play Nashville and what
would be a hell of a second round series. The

(01:23:26):
Golden Knights get a win over the Kings, a sweep.
Vegas has now had a team advanced to the second round.
The city of law, the city of Las Vegas is
wild with glee, with excitement. I saw the tweets going
out from several people who work inside of the sports books,
and they said, there's more money being bet on the

(01:23:46):
Vegas Golden Knights games than on any of the NBA
games or any other of the NHL games. That in
and of itself is pretty wild. I said that our
poll question is up, and we have been talking about
whether we should bring back the Wooly Mammoth. A lot
of people talking about this from a Jurassic Park perspective.
That led to me questioning the cloning process. If you

(01:24:06):
can bring back to Wooly mammoth, wouldn't you be able
to clone a human as well, just as easily. And
we also talked about the fact that Barbra Streisand has
cloned her her dogs and brought them back to life,
at least from a d n A perspective. There a
bunch of you sent me links to a to a
polo team which is all cloned horses. What's the impact here?

(01:24:30):
Am I wrong or is this starting to get wild? Well,
we've got a pH d in embryology. Mark in West
Virginia calls in, Am I totally not smart enough to
understand some of the concepts that I'm talking about here? Mark?
Or am I somewhat on the right track? Unfortunately, Clay,

(01:24:51):
I think you're off the mark um because of the
fact that even in utero, the embryo is going to
have different genus fression, and so you're never probably going
to end up with an exactly identical match to what
the original animal was. So how close are they Well,

(01:25:11):
physically they're gonna be very close, but then the whole
emotional and mental status is going to be changed, you know,
based on your experiences. Do you think, yeah, then that's
a fascinating Do you think that there has been a
human cloned somewhere in the world already? I'm pretty sure

(01:25:32):
it's happened. I'm not sure that people have really came
out and shared that necessarily because there's a lot of
religious um implications of that, but I'm pretty sure it
has happened. Yeah, so um, And and that's kind of
my thought is that it has happened. And my thought is,
and I'm curious. I mean, you obviously have the training
in this field, and we're talking to Mark, he's a

(01:25:53):
PhD in embry all embryology. Um. Is it crazy to
think that if from a human person effective, that oftentimes
this would be related to child children? Right, that if
somebody lost a child, they would think, oh my God,
can I please just bring this child back? And that
would be in their mind. One thing that they are
doing is bringing back the same d n A and

(01:26:14):
we're trying to raise the same kid again. Um. I
think from the standpoint of embryologists, Um, you know, most
of us try to stay away from the human aspects
other than trying to repair some mistakes that happened. But
certainly I think that would be from a standpoint of
a father, you know, you would want to try to

(01:26:37):
I'm not sure what the word is here, but you
know you would deal with the trauma and try to
replace that child. Yeah, and and so what do you
think as an embryologist when you hear that like the
wooly mammoth could in theory, be be brought back to
life via this forty year old DNA that they have
found in a frozen wooly mammoth. Is that a good

(01:26:59):
idea or idea in your mind? Um, I'm not sure
one way or the other. I don't have a strong
opinion on that, but I think there are implications, like
you guys have mentioned for diseases and things like that
that might be also brought up in the the whole
cloning process of an animal. How quickly is the technology

(01:27:20):
evolving here? In other words, you said you think there's
probably been a cloned human, because we know there's been
a lot of other cloned animals, but it just hasn't
been publicized. Um, is the technology advancing very rapidly here
such that the ethical questions that we might have about
a decision like this is almost being left behind by
the technology technological advances. In other words, we're not sitting

(01:27:43):
around debating whether this is going to happen or not
because there's somebody who is more interested in furthering the
science than they are debating the ethics. I think the
the whole idea of cloning has really been a slow process,
and I'm not sure that at what people believe how
fast it's evolving is is highly overstated. So in your mind,

(01:28:08):
what is uh so the wooly mammoth. Let's say the
wooly mammoth is gonna happen, and we gotta pull up
in fifty people think that it should happen are opposed. Um,
what what's the next generation here? Like? What is the
next time when a story like this is going to
pop the public and we're gonna be stunned by it.
I think that scientists all the time try to get

(01:28:31):
some publicity and get some funding for their UM research,
and so I think this might be another ploy to say, Hey,
we're getting some publicity for this. So I don't think
it's unusual to expect people to say these things over
the next few years. But the technology is just not
quite there now. One thing that I've read about that

(01:28:52):
I'm intrigued by is malarias still kills an unbelievable percentage
of people UM in Sub Saharan Africa, if I'm not mistake,
and it's a massive issue. And there has been talk
that maybe through the embryo and embryologists like you, that
you would be able to replace the gene carrying for
malaria in uh in mosquitoes and slowly kind of bioengineer

(01:29:16):
the destruction of the malaria virus because it's carried through mosquitoes.
Is that something that's a legitimate or does that scare you?
Is that a good or bad thing? I think that
a lot of embryologists try to do what you're saying
is make some corrections, smaller corrections, versus doing cloning. What
you're talking about is called a transgenic animal, where you're

(01:29:39):
just trying to engineer one gene. And so I think
that's a legitimate um situation. Um, my child happens to
have any immune deficiency and there might be a possibility
through gene therapy to correct that situation in her, even
after birth. You could go in and theoretically adjust that. Yeah,

(01:30:02):
that's what the stem cells in your bone, marrow and
stuff are. Therefore, I think is be able to to
replace the cells in your body, and so I think
you can take those out and uh, make some corrections
and hopefully increase the possibility of having a better life
for those people. Wow, that's remarkable. Well, a lot of

(01:30:24):
people probably listening to you right now saying why in
the world are you listening to Clay Travis to start
there your morning? If you're this smart. I love your show.
I love sports, but I definitely love your show, and uh,
you know that doesn't have anything to do with what
my specialty is. It's just the fact that I enjoy
listening to your show on the way to work every day. Well,
I really appreciate you calling in and giving us expertise

(01:30:47):
or one of the great things, and that's Mark in
West Virginia. He has a PhD in embryology. One of
the great things about the growth of this show is
I feel like, obviously I'm an intellectually curious guy, and
I have a little bit of knowledge about a lot
of different subjects, but I like to talk to people
who are experts in a particular field to see if
I'm on the right direction at all with the way
my brain is working. And uh, I mean that was

(01:31:10):
really pretty cool. Uh So I can just toss out, hey,
maybe somebody's an expert in cloning, and then we get
a guy with a PhD and embryology who is going
to call in and uh and help break down the
uh the situation here as we decide whether or not
to cloneal Wooly mammoth. Do you think Jason wentlocks in
favor of cloning a wooly mammoth. I don't know, we'll
find out. I know he's in favor of the UH.

(01:31:30):
And by the way, you got the stats, Jason Martin,
the of malaria debts UH that they've been knocking him down.
But that's a great example of something where an embryologist
could make a tremendous difference and hopefully be able to
to to change, like even the course of human life is.
If we could eliminate and eradicate the malaria carrying aspects

(01:31:54):
of the genome of the mosquito, that would change the
lives of millions and millions of people, tens of millions,
hundreds of millions of people who fear malaria every year.
There are two hundred at least in two hundred, two
thousand sixteen, there were two hundred and sixteen million cases
of malaria and four hundred and forty five thousand deaths

(01:32:16):
from malaria. If you could change the genetic code of
a mosquito to keep them from transferring that malaria gene
via mosquitos, I mean that would fundamentally alter the trajectory
of so many lives in Africa. I think that's an
example of where technology and the intersection of science and
genomes and DNA and everything else. Again, I'm not smart

(01:32:38):
enough to be able to understand it how it would
be done myself, but I can read and think about
the theories behind it, and uh, I am utterly fascinated
by things such as that. But what am I also
utterly fascinated by? Can Lebron James win Game two? We'll
talk with my guy Jason Whitlock up next. He's at
whitlock Jason on Twitter. Been joining us the last couple
of weeks. You guys love them, make sure you don't

(01:32:59):
miss it. Will be joined by him coming back on
the flip side. I am Clay Travis. This is out
keep the coverage on Fox Sports Radio. Anthony Sacrimony just
turned off Clay Travis on Fox Sports Radio. What's worth?
What's worse? Politics at ESPN or discussions about resurrecting the

(01:33:20):
Wooly Mammoth Monday? It was the best way to order
a steak. If you've run out of things to say
about sports, perhaps you should cut your show at half, Anthony.
A lot of people care about the Wooly Bammoth. It's
a big deal. Might get brought back. Uh, we are here,
and when you love a bigger tax refund, you see
the I R S blew it like their systems weren't

(01:33:41):
working and they had to extend that. It's like when
you have like a snow day and you didn't get
that paper ready or you didn't study for the test,
and then suddenly you get a snow day and you're like,
God's given me a break. Here. The I R S
extended the deadline an extra day because their computers crashed.
I think, right, Uh, wouldn't you love a bigger tax refund?
Well you got an extra day now. Tax Layer was
highest rade. You know what's crazy about that? As I

(01:34:02):
rushed to the to the post office to get my
tax return filed and then the computer shut down, they
didn't have to do that. Uh, tax lawyer highest rated
for maximum refund. So you have more cash to spend
on whatever the heck you want this tax season. Go
out and slay at max your refund at tax layer
dot com. Jason wentlock with us now like Jason on Twitter, Jason,
have you I'm sure you saw Jurassic Park back in

(01:34:23):
the day and Michael Crichton's book and everything else. We
got into a debate about whether bringing back the wooly
mammoth is a good or bad move. Do you think
it's a good or bad move to bring back extinct
animals if we have the technology to do it, I
would say bad idea. They're extinct for a reason. That see,
And that's a strong position out there, and continue, I'm

(01:34:45):
curious on your philosophy. First of all, I did see
Jurassic Park, but I don't what is the wooly wooly mammoth?
Is is just a type of of elephant. It's it's
an extinct type of elephant. They found it in like
an old and glacier forty two thousand years ago. It
fell and died, but they were able to extract the

(01:35:06):
d NA, and now Harvard scientists believe that they can
clone that wily mammouth and bring it back to life. Yeah,
that that doesn't sound good. Um, I would pass on that,
So you would pass on the and and by the way,
the poll question is up over ten thou people have voted,
and I was curious to see what the reaction would
be here. Um, it's a fifty seven percent in favor

(01:35:28):
of bringing back against all right, you are an Indianapolis native,
how uh much do you believe that the Pacers can
win this series in your heart of hearts being legitimately
not like a I grew up in Indianapolis and I'm
rooting for the Pacers, but trying to be objective here.
Do you think they can do it? Do you think

(01:35:48):
they will do it? Scale of one to tim, I
think I would put the chances at a four. Uh.
You know, so I'm almost halfway there, but I'm not. Look,
they beat the Cavaliers three or four in the regular season,

(01:36:09):
and you know that that opening round victory was pretty impressive,
but I gotta see it again tonight. Uh, And look
if they get up to oh, I guess everybody's gonna
jump on the bandwagon. But but listen, I've seen Lebron
James take out the Pacers too many times. I've seen
Lebron James elevate his play uh to a level that

(01:36:33):
the Pacers just can't match. Uh. But I think there's
so much chaos in Cleveland up from Thylan Tyrone lu
not being the coach for a time because the health sabbatical,
to just all the rumors about Tristan Thompson and Chloe
Kardashian and other I G. Models talking about Tristan and

(01:36:56):
hooking up with another married Calves player and Lebron On
James Uh, potentially leaving Cleveland again. There's so much chaos
that I think the Cavaliers are vulnerable and and this
isn't so much about the Pacers and are they good
enough to beat the Cavaliers. It's about the amount of

(01:37:19):
chaos in Cleveland and Lebron James. I'm just saying, Look,
he guarantees championships, but he also guarantees chaos and an
ugly exit, and we may be headed that direction again.
Is it good or bad for the NBA if Lebron
gets knocked out of the Eastern Conference early. Let's say

(01:37:39):
that the Pacers don't do it, but that the Raptors do.
I mean, I think if he advances to the Eastern
Conference Finals and loses there, that television executives and NBA
fans would be okay with that. But I think it
would be shocking if the Pacers pulled off this upset,
and I think it would still be a little bit
stunning if the Raptors got them in round two. Uh?

(01:37:59):
Is it good bad for the NBA? If that happens.
I mean, listen, if if you're broadcasting the Eastern Conference playoffs,
which I think ESPN is there, right, Uh, I think
it's bad to have Lebron exit. I think for everybody else,

(01:38:19):
I think it would be fascinating. I think it would
be you know, a hell of a story. I think
it's something they can survive just because they are. From
Ben Simmons to what Harden and Chris Paul are doing
in Houston, to you know, obviously Steph Curry and in
the Golden State Wars, there's enough interesting players and storylines

(01:38:45):
that I think the NBA would be fine. It's not
best case scenario, but I don't think the ratings would
just fall through the roof if Lebron exits the playoffs
early and you know, clearly of a Pacer fan, I'm
rooting for it. Uh. And And look, it wouldn't be
the first time that he's you know, maybe the first

(01:39:08):
time he's exited in the first round, but he's exited
the playoffs early before. And then the NBA will be fine.
When you look at the NBA in general, Um, are
you Lebron's thirty three? Next year, He's gonna be thirty four,
when Michael Jordan's left the NBA, the league fell off
a cliff and the league still has not built back

(01:39:30):
up to the ratings that they had in ninety six,
ninety seven, and ninety eight for the second of the
Jordan's three peats. Obviously, the culture has changed a lot.
There's a lot more channels, there's a lot more entertainment.
But do you think the NBA, when Lebron eventually steps
off the stage, that his departure from the NBA will
have anywhere near the impact that Jordan's departure did from

(01:39:50):
the NBA, or even like Tiger's departure from the p
g A has been. Or do you think the NBA
is strong enough to withstand the Lebron James moving off
of the primary center of the stage. I think the
NBA will be fine. I think the people that will
really be hurt by this are these studio debate shows

(01:40:11):
who build their entire lives around talking about Lebron James.
But I'm not sure basketball fans and the overwhelming majority
of NBA fans are as addicted to Lebron James as
debate shows are. And so look, Michael Jordan's I think

(01:40:32):
captured the imagination of sports fans, not just basketball fans,
sports fans in a way that Lebron James just hasn't. Again,
if you just look at uh the shoe sales, Jordan
is still the most dominant shoe brand at Nike and

(01:40:53):
in all of sports. Lebron James has never challenged that.
I think Jordan's sells more than every combined and so
I think Jordan's penetrated the psych of sports fans far
more than Lebron James. Uh, Lebron James, even in comparison

(01:41:14):
to Matti Johnson, Larry Bird, I don't think he's reached
that level. Now Again among the people that you know,
debate sports every day, Yeah, he's paramount in our minds,
but with the casual sports fan, I just don't think
Lebron's reached that level. What do you think the people
in our industry who debate Michael Jordan's versus Lebron James

(01:41:37):
every day would do if Lebron retired at the end
of this year, Like, what is the you know? I
mean this, I mean this is Honestly, there are guys
in our industry who every single day they have been
debating Michael Jordan's versus Lebron James for literally like seven
years or eight years now, maybe even longer. It seems
like every single day. Oh well, on his four thousand,

(01:41:59):
seven hundred thirty eight game, Michael Jordan's scored thirty two
and Lebron scored twenty seven and passed at the end
of the game. What does this mean about their compared? Like,
what is the next sports debate that will rise up
to Michael Jordan's versus Lebron? Because I would say the
one before this was probably should Pete Rose be in
the Hall of Fame? There were guys who would sit
around and argue about Pete Rose being in the Hall

(01:42:21):
of Fame every day for like a decade back in
the old school sports talker radio. What's the next one
that will be the eternal debate that somebody maybe I
need to get on in on this and get in
early so I can spend the next decade of my career.
It's it's already here. It's so obvious. The next Lebron debate,
it's already here. It's Colin Kaepernick. Yeah, but Colin Kaepernick

(01:42:47):
will be thirty nine and people will still be sending
out tweets and writing story, so and so just signed
such and such quarterback, and uh, Colin Kaepernick is still
on the market, so we'll be having and look, I'm
a participant in the Colin Kaepernick debate, but the Colin
Kaepernick debate at least is still. People are like, at

(01:43:08):
least that's two years old. But that is really funny
to think about, because Colin kaepernicks thirty one, not right now.
I think you're probably right. There are guys out there
when he's thirty eight, thirty nine, they're gonna be like, oh,
so and so just got signed, but Colin Kaepernick still
a free agent. Yeah, And look I was guilty of it,
Like I'm a Jeff George and I grew up together,

(01:43:28):
and you know, up until he was about forty, I
I never would give up on his football career. And
I think Kate I would troll people by, hey, how
come they didn't sign Jeff George? But people will legitimately, Uh,
you know, when Colin Kaepernick is thirty seven, thirty eight
years old, we'll be talking about, Oh my god, you
remember fifteen years ago he was in the Super Bowl.

(01:43:52):
He let it came to the Super Bowl. I can't
believe they just signed Clay Travis's son instead of Colin Kaepernick.
We're talking to Jason Whitlock at what Like Jason on Twitter,
you can follow him on Speak for Yourself, where he
will be debating Lebron James versus Michael Jordan's tonight this afternoon.
Um or not? Um? They called Kaepernick question is interesting

(01:44:13):
for this reason. I saw Adidas come out and say
they would sign him if an NFL team signed him,
which seems like a ridiculous decision by Adidas. But whatever,
why wouldn't Adidas just go ahead and sign him regardless?
I thought I I misinterpreted the story. I thought Adidas
said that they would sign him even if he doesn't

(01:44:35):
sign with a team. Did they say that? I I did.
I just saw the headline, so I thought they were
saying they would sign him if he signed with an
NFL team. Are they saying they would sign him regardless?
One of you guys can do the research someone. Look,
I may have misinterpreted the story, but look, I don't
know if that's a bad play for Adidas, because Colin

(01:44:56):
Kaepernick does have this huge niche of hardcore fans who
think he represents something big and significant, and so you know,
I don't think it's a a huge play, but I

(01:45:17):
do think people would go out and buy Adidas because
of what Colin Kaepernick represents it. Again, it's not a
large number of people, but when you're trying to compete
against Nike and under Armor, if you if there's two
percent of the market that you may pick up because
you know, the woke crowd can put on Adida's shoes

(01:45:39):
and and say, look, how woke I am I'm wearing Adidas.
I'm not sure it's a bad play. Uh. The quote
is Adidas president Mark King said we would definitely want
to sign him if he signed with an NFL team. Now,
I don't know why you would need him to sign
for an NFL team. It seems like they could sign

(01:45:59):
him guardless. I mean, I kind of agree with you
from a purely business perspective if you think there is
a market there. The question would be, would the blowback
on Adidas actually cost them on their guys who are
in the league. I don't even know who who does
Adidas have. I'm not like that they have James Harden. Now, like,
who are the top Adidas? So they got Dame Lillard.

(01:46:20):
Uh uh, they got Aaron Rodgers. Okay, Um, you know,
so they have a bunch of guys. The question would be,
do any of those guys have appeal. Are their parents
out there who are buying their kids Adidas shoes that
would decide not to buy Adidas if they signed Kaepernick?
And does that number cancel out the number of shoes

(01:46:41):
that they would sell if they did sign Kaepernick. From
the perspective of business, I don't know why it would
matter whether he's in the league or not. And there's
certainly a Kaepernick market. I just don't know if the
anti Kaepernick market cancels out the Kaepernick market, if that
makes any sense, Yeah, it does. But I don't look
for young people. Oh, they're attracted to rebellion, and so

(01:47:05):
for young people, I think Kaepernick and the shoe game
would be an interesting play and I don't see real
downside to it, because again, for young people, they can
they can put on the shoes and pretend that they're
rebelling against the system and the establishment. And you know,
adults I think would just kind of they wouldn't care

(01:47:29):
about the Kaepernick impact. You know, if you're some forty
year old guy you don't really care about. I just
don't think it would impact your decision making on what
shoes to buy. But for a kid, black, white, green, whatever, Hey,
if I can put on these Adida's shoes and it

(01:47:49):
represents my rebellion against the establishment, they'd go for it.
We're talking to Jason Whitlock watches show. Speak for yourself
at Whitlock, Jason, I want to be a chance to
make a pitch if people haven't watched this show, and
a lot of people are still getting used to FS one,
even though it's several years early. Every time you come on,
the feedback is fantastic, But I feel like a lot

(01:48:10):
of people probably still have not sampled the show. What
would you tell them to expect if they put on
your show on FS one in the afternoons, I would argue,
you know you're gonna get the most honest and common
sense show. Uh talking sports? I think that, you know,

(01:48:31):
part of what we have been trying to establish is
there's a conversation going on in the media that to
me is completely concerned about, well, how does what I
say land on social media? And social media is a
stage and so I think it causes people to perform

(01:48:53):
and put on an act, and so I'm trying to
do a show and have a point of view that's
not an act. It's not a performance for social media.
That's just like honest and filled with common sense and
filled with values, probably from Middle America more so than
the coast. And so I would ask people to watch

(01:49:16):
the show just so they can hear people talk about
sports the way they actually talk about sports in their home,
at a bar, at a barbershop or whatever. Because when
you're having real interactions with people, you're not thinking about, oh,
what's Twitter is gonna think of what I just said
and will this get retweeted? Or will people just uh

(01:49:39):
send me negative comments over Twitter because I said this.
When you're in a barbershop, at a bar, talking in
your home, you're not thinking that way. And so I
just think it's a real authentic conversation. Now, I would
say that's a very good way of of putting it.
Um It's I don't know if you want to get
into this very much, but I do think it's fascinating.

(01:50:00):
I know you and I have talked about it a
little bit off air this Starbucks case, because you just
mentioned social media. What is your take, and you've tweeted
about it with you know what, Let's take a break
and come. Do you want to talk about it? You
want to dive into this story? Uh? Yeah, I've got
no problem with it. All right, we'll dive into it.
Let's take a break here. We'll bring back Jason Whitlock. First,
I want to bring in Eddie Garcia and we'll call

(01:50:21):
Whitlock back. Get your popcorn. We'll talk about this Starbucks
case because he's been tweeting about it and we talked
about it a little bit. But first, Eddie Garcia. What
shake in the world of sports? All right, Let's give
you a quick recap of last night's playoff action and
the NBA Pelicans beat the Trailblazers one eleven to one
oh two New Orleans with a two oh series lead.
Evan won the first two games on the road. Raptors
over the Wizards one thirty one nineteen Toronto with a

(01:50:44):
two oh series lead, and the Celtics beat the Bucks
one six Boston a two oh series lead. NHL Playoffs
Golden Nights beat the King's one nothing Vegas sweeps the
series in four games to advance in the second round.
Double overtime Capitals beat the Blue Jackets three to Columbus
still has a two one series need Jets shut off
the Wild to nothing Winnipeg with a three one. Seriously,
the support brought to you my True Car on my

In the NFL, the league announcing that the two thousand

doing like a two hour special for it. You know what,
I'm watching because I want to see when the Titans
are gonna play My Titans are gonna play in London,

(01:51:28):
because I'm gonna go overseas and watch him play the Chargers.
I really am. I'm excited to see a game overseas NFL.
But I gotta figure out what I need to book
my airline tickets. Uh, and I'm gonna do the show
live from London. That's the plan anyway, I am Clay

at Whitlock Jason, Go follow him on Twitter, tell him

(01:51:48):
coverage on Fox Sports Radio. What does it mean when

or more on car insurance? To be you probably should
have gone to Geico dot com fifteen minutes ago. Jason
Whitlock waking up early with us at Whitlock Jason, encourage
you to check out his show. Speak for yourself afternoons

(01:52:09):
on UM on FS one, set your DVRs. If you're
not gonna be home, make sure you check it out. Also,
thank him he comes on early with us, come on
the last several weeks. Uh. If you enjoy our guests,
shoot him a line and he's and give him a
follow at whitlock Jason on Twitter. We were talking about
social media and I am fascinated by how stories become

(01:52:31):
viral and become kind of top of the line, stories
that otherwise would have disappeared forever. And this happened this
week with the Starbucks story. If you haven't paid attention,
Starbucks announced they're gonna shut down their stores U for
the afternoon on May twenty nine to have a racial
sensitivity type training. And this all spirals out of what

(01:52:51):
happened in a Philadelphia Areas Starbucks where a guy asked
to use the bathroom. I was told you have to
be a customer to do that. We don't know all
the details still in this story, but eventually the police
were called because the manager at Starbucks called and uh
they were rent and that individuals here were arrested. Um,
and this has turned into a major, major story spiraling

(01:53:15):
out of social media. What do you think about this story,
Jason Whitlock, and also the way that stories like these
continue to become top of the mind based on social
media interaction. I find the story amazing that Starbucks is
going to shut down for a day and you're inviting

(01:53:37):
coffee drinkers around America to find a different store to
drink coffee. This is amazing, all because one manager at
one store uh called the police to have someone removed.
All the Starbucks stores are now going to pay a

(01:54:00):
price for that decision. That's mind blowing to me. And
and just so if this hasn't happened at Joe's coffee shop,
a single proprietor coffee shop. I just don't think this
would be a story. It's you attached the name Starbucks
in the national chain and now it's a national story,

(01:54:24):
and it's a story they can go viral and a
big distore because one manager at a store made a
decision that you know, some people disagree with. It's it's
mind blowing to me. Your dad ran a business. Um
and a lot of people have worked out in businesses.
Their businesses exist and this is no like great revelation,

(01:54:48):
but to make money. And the way you make money
if you run a public business is by people coming
in and consuming the things that you are selling in
that business. And if people show up at your business
and they're not consuming anything, then at some point in
time you may request that they leave because they're occupying tables,
that everything else. What do you think your dad would
have done if he had had people come into his

(01:55:09):
bar and they had hung out there and never bought
a beer or bought a drink. Yeah, they're gonna be
asked to leave and just keeping my my dad on
a bar, uh like a cheer In a black working
class area of Indianapolis of Indianapolis off my entire life.

(01:55:30):
And so yeah, eventually, if you just come in and
sit down in loiter, you're gonna get asked to leave.
And then if you refuse to leave, you know, my
dad would and my dad's passed away. But at some
point he probably would have grabbed his thirty eight and
then thought better of it and called the police and say, hey,

(01:55:53):
I got some people here. They won't leave, and then
they would have asked the police to force them to leave.
And then if you refuse the request of the police,
I would think at some point you would get arrested
and remove from the premises. Again that that's what a
small business owner would do. And so I can't believe

(01:56:18):
the lack of reporting on this story in terms of
how long were they there? Did the guy ever go
to the bathroom? Uh? Why did they refuse the police
request three different times to leave? But when the police
say alright, stand up and put your hands whither, we're

(01:56:40):
gonna cuff you, they comply with that request. It just
you know, so some requests they declined to comply, and
then as soon as it's time to get arrested, they
do comply. To me, this whole thing reminds me of
Billions and the ice storyline in season two where someone

(01:57:03):
where Axle Rot of these guys set up a controversy
with this juice company to take the juice company out.
This seems manufactured. Yeah, I'm glad you bring that up,
because I have been in businesses, especially on the East Coast,
where there's large crowds, where they keep the bathroom door locked,

(01:57:24):
and they do that and they either have a code
or you need a key, and they do that because
so many homeless people want to use it and they're
trying to keep the business clean in some way. And
so I have been up I've said, hey, I gotta
use the bathroom. They say, oh, you gotta buy something,
and so you buy a newspaper or you buy something
if I have to go to the bath And by
the way, this has happened to me with kids, right,
Like I have had a kid and I've been like, hey,

(01:57:45):
I gotta go to the bathroom and they're like there
for customers only, and you're like, okay, I gotta buy something, right,
or you try to go to the bathroom without ever
talking to anybody, which is why I think the bathroom
was probably locked. But if you have to go to
the bathroom bad enough to use a public bathroom, most people,
I think would say, okay, I'll buy something, what's the
cheapest thing you got, worst case scenario in order to

(01:58:05):
use the bathroom. This guy either when did he ever
go to the bathroom? If he doesn't go to the bathroom,
then when he gets arrested, he's definitely not going to
go to the bathroom. Like, the whole story just doesn't
make sense to me. I kind of feel like it's
a set up too. And by the way, if this
was a racist manager and you knew it was a
racist manager and somebody set them up, then that's kind

(01:58:27):
of like a brilliant ploy because they're probably gonna end
up getting a lot of money. But I feel like,
from a Starbucks perspective, fire the racist manager if you
determine that they were in the wrong and they have
behaved inappropriately, but don't try to turn it into an
indictment of the entire business. Every business on earth has
employees who are not ideal, who are doing bad things

(01:58:49):
at times, and so you fire him. That's what businesses do.
Or who just make bad decisions at the moment or
look not maybe they're having a bad day or there.
There was some incident a week before with people that
wanted to use the bathroom, and they had a conversation
and said, hey, look, no more people using the bathroom. Listen,

(01:59:13):
this goes on at gas stations all the time. Hey,
you got to use the bath Hey, that's for our customers.
We won't get We won't give you the key unless
you unless you buy. That happens all the time. So
again I can't understand why. And again I'm not a
coffee drinker, so I don't freaquent Starbucks. I don't know

(01:59:35):
how expensive things are inside of a Starbucks. You can
buy in New York Times, or you can buy a
Wall Street Journal. We gotta finish off the show here,
but Jason went like go following giving feedback, thank you
for waking up early with us from Los Angeles. Watch
his show. Speak for yourself. At went like, Jason, you
can just buy something, buy something for a dollar two dollars,
buy the local newspaper. You can use the bathroom all

(01:59:55):
day long. There, I'm Clay Travis. I'll kick the coverage.
Thanks for hanging with us on on the show.
