Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening the Fox Sports Radio a giant sigh of
relief for a powerhouse program in college football. Will get
to the bottom of that coming up here in just
a couple of moments. He is Bucky Brooks. I am
Jonas Knocks. This is is Fox Sports Radio. You can always
check out the show on the I Heart Radio app
and wherever you are taking part in the program, we
always appreciate a few minutes of your time as we

(00:23):
come to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios,
where fifteen minutes could save you fifteen per center more
on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free
rate quote. Ladies and gentlemen. There he is the North
Carolina tar heel himself, Bucky effing Brooks. I mean, I

(00:43):
am all days now. Look, it's not like there's a
lot going on in the world of football though. I
mean it's not like anything like that. And don't worry,
we are going to get to uh to Bucky Brooks.
Is his guy, Antonio Brown, that's your guy. That is
that is your guy. It's Bucky's guys. So we will
get to Antonio Brown because some of the stuff that's

(01:05):
coming out of that is is almost comedic. But the
Michigan Wolverines, Uh, look, they went into a game earlier
today against Army and Michigan. You saw that game, and
he thought, all right, well, listen. I mean, it's early
in the season and you know they're still developing a
new offense and all that, but no problem whatsoever. Michigan

(01:27):
should handle Army easily and d program. And then all
of a sudden, we're in double overtime and it took
a striped sack for Michigan to win that game at home.
And people can criticize Jim Harbaugh has got a lot
of haters out there. People can knock him all they want.
Everything I've ever heard about those academy schools is they

(01:48):
are a pain in the ask to play. Um, what
is it? What is it about playing Army, Navy, Air
Force schools like that that make it so difficult on
certain teams. They're couple of things. One, it's hard sometimes
to get your guys to focus on hey man, Army, Navy,
Air Force, those teams are really good teams, and that

(02:09):
they can come in and beat you and all of
those things. And then their style of play is very,
very challenging because it really requires you to be very
detailed and discipline in what you do. You have to
be able to stay on your p's and ques, you
have to play assignment football. And lastly, they play a
physical brand of football. It is different because you don't

(02:30):
see that offense, that flexbone triple option offense on a
weekly basis, So it kind of takes you out your
comfort zone. But then when you're dealing with the cut
blocking and just the overall physicality of how they play man,
they can just beat you. Put you in the grinder
and the controlling the clock because they will milk the clock,
control it, grind it, They limit possessions and just make

(02:52):
it very very difficult for you to kind of play
the style of game that you normally a customed to play.
And so Jim Harbaugh, because he's a very loud guy,
he's got the his voice in the room wherever he goes.
He's got a lot of haters out there, a lot
of detractors, a lot of people call him overrated, and
they're gonna point to this game and say, yeah, well
they won the game. Michigan won the game. But nonetheless
it's still showcases that Jim Harba is overrated, all right, Well,

(03:13):
if he's overrated, then I guess Lincoln Riley must be
overrated because he is the guy when it comes to
offense and quarterbacks and not only college but the NFL.
Right now, he's the big hot commodity after what we
saw with Jalen Hurts in the opener for Oklahoma and
last year against Army, Army took Oklahoma to overtime in Norman,

(03:35):
and the time of possession that you talked about in
favor of Army minutes to fifteen in favor of Army.
And that's how they play. They want to control that.
They want to drain the clock, they want to shorten
the game, they want to limit your opportunity to score
because they believed to play good defense is to play
less defense, fewer snaps on defense. That allows you guys

(03:55):
to always be fresh. And so it is a complimentary
football system, one where they kind of play offense and
play keep away on offense so they don't have to
put their defense on the field, and it just it
just works with him, there was this was a tough
game from Michigan. I thought, um, when I looked at
it on paper, and it just kind of played out
that way. It is a week even enough time to

(04:15):
get ready for a team like this. You're a head coach,
I mean, how do you even prepare and practice for
something like You gotta start preparing for them and the
collegian game. You gotta start preparing in the spring. Um,
otherwise you just won't have enough time to really you
gotta start mixing in some of those things because it's
so out of the norm to face someone that's doing
a dive. Um, triple option is tough because you gotta

(04:38):
work about to dive. You gotta work at the quarterback,
then the pitch. You just don't see a traditional option
like that. Look, I I love watching them playing. Army
actually had a chance to win the game. At the
end of regulation. They had a fifty yard field goal.
It was wide right, and so it went to overtime.
Army scored, scored first time down, Michigan got the ball back,
they scored, had a terrible possession on their second possession

(04:59):
and overtime, but we're able to knock in a field
goal to take the lead, and then on a third
down and long uh, they got the strip sack for
the win. So that being said, Um, where do you
stand when it comes to Jim Harbaugh and what he's
done at Michigan and and just sort of the some
of the criticism that people have given him and saying

(05:19):
it's either this year or bust from Michigan. No more
excuses for Jim Harba. You know, I don't think you
can take that approach. I think you have to, like,
do you buy into the program? Do you buy into
what he is trying to do to you buy into
what he wants to build? And I think that is
kind of simple because if you mind to the coach
and buying into his philosophy, then you don't kind of

(05:39):
ed and flow based on what the response is gonna be.
I think you just had that the conversation. And they
were a bad team when he took him over. I mean,
they were a bad team. There was talks of you know,
people in ann Arbor, you know, getting free tickets when
they bought like a two leader bottle of soda at
a supermarket. Like that's a true story. I swear to God,
that's a true story that that that was being told
around Anne Arbor. They were in such bad shape, whether

(06:02):
it was a disaster with rich Rodriguez, um whether it
was Brady Hilk afterwards Harbus come in. He's won a
bunch of games. He hasn't beat his rivals, So the
criticism is fair there. But I also think people are
looking at comparing Jim Harbad Urban Meyer and Urban Meyer
is on a different level when it comes to college
football coaches like he. There's maybe only a handful of

(06:23):
coaches that you would put ahead of Urban Meyer, maybe
all time in the history of the sport. So to
compare him to urban Meyer, I don't know it's the
most fair thing to do, But nonetheless they're gonna love
this because definitely not fair based on all the things
that Urban Urban has accomplished. And when you take over
a program, because I mentioned you're a head coach, and
so when you take over a program and you've got

(06:44):
to either change the culture or get him in the
right direction, or get him on the same page, or
just kind of build from the ground up. When you
take over something like that, how much more difficult is
that than people on the outside realize, just in looking
at it and saying no, no, no, we need wins
and losses. It's tough because you have to the coach
are right to get the program, right, I mean, you

(07:06):
just have to you have to be able to do
so many different things to kind of get everyone hitting
in the right direction. And so as much as you
worry about the onto fuel, we have to also worry
about the off the field, in the chemistry and the
continuity and the commitment and accountability and to trust and
so it is definitely different and difficult and challenging getting
it going. I think he hasn't moving in the right way.

(07:28):
He just needs a fum piece, yeah and um. And look,
I've been a big proponent of this. I think if
I was a team in college football, if I was
a Power five team in college football, I would schedule
weak as opponents early on in the year. And I
don't care what kind of criticism I get. I really don't.
I admire what Oregan and Auburn did playing against each other,
two top twenty five teams going at it. But oregan

(07:49):
season is now compromised based on what happened against Soburn.
Oregon now needs to win out and then needs Auburn
to be really good but not too good, so that
they can sort of somehow get in in the mix
and take over for for Aubrey. It just you need
so many things to go your way starting out of
the gate, and I just think it's a difficult position

(08:10):
to put the team in, especially, you know, some of
these guys are still teenagers playing in the biggest stadiums
they've ever played in before this early in the season,
and no preseason, and there's no preseason to get ready.
So that's why so hard, weeks so hard. Alright. So
the time of possession for this game between Michigan and

(08:31):
uh An Army, so Army one time of possession this
this time, so they at least kept it close. And
obviously the time of possession, as we mentioned, forty to
fifteen in favor of Army against Oklahoma last year. So
they're they're a difficult team to match up with. But
there are tons of big time matchups all around college
football here. Obviously the big one going on right now.

(08:53):
They're scoreless in the first quarter Texas A and M
and Clemson. That is a twelve one matchup in college football.
That game going on as they wind down the first
quarter there, and then you've also got coming up later on.
There's a big matchup also between l s U and
Texas Number six Verse number nine in Austin. If you
listen to the Texas blowhards who are everywhere in college football,

(09:16):
Texas is back. Texas is back. But l s U
favorite on the road there against the Longhorn. So we
will have all of that here on Fox Sports Radio.
There's a UFC fight going on right now in Abu
Dhabi and this is craziness, Bucky Brooks, this is what
we wanted. We had to sit through spring training and
and terrible, terrible NBA talk and all that stuff during

(09:37):
the off season. We finally get football back, and it's
overload right now in the NFL and college football. I
mean there's a lot in the studio, a lot of games,
a lot of games. Mchigan was it was this Colorado
Nebraska trying to bring you back old? Oh yeah? Is
that the old Big twelve matchup Colorado Nebraska? There are
the Big eight alright, So Bucky Brooks Jonas knocks here

(09:58):
on Fox Sports Radio. We have great news. As a
quick and easy way you could save money, switched to
Geico and only takes fifteen minutes to see if you
could save fifteen center more on car insurance. Go to
Geico dot com to see how much you could save,
hands down, one of the most bizarre situations in the
history of the NFL, and so far the response from

(10:19):
John Gruden has been perfect. What do you already had
to say? Next? Here on Fox Sports Radio, at Farmers Insurance,
we know there's a crucial difference between a kick drum
pedal and your car's accelerator pedal, because at Farmers we've
seen and covered it. We are Farmers under written. My
Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchange and Affiliates products an available

(10:40):
in every state. He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. This
is Fox Sports Radio. You can check out this show
on the I Heart Radio app. Coming up a little
over ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio,
we will get some inside information on a very bizarre
situation in the NFL, one that I don't think that
we've ever seen. So we'll have that for you here.

(11:01):
Coming up ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio,
updating you on the big matchup in college football. End
of the first quarter in Death Valley, Texas A and
M and Clemson are scoreless, so we will keep you
up to speed on all of that as as the
Aggies go on the road to try and upset number
one Clemson. So we'll keep you posted there here on

(11:23):
Fox Sports Radio. All right, So Bucky Brooks your guy
Antonio Brown, just because I don't want him, so so
somebody's got to take him. And that's your guy, Antonio Brown.
This is this whole situation is so bizarre. How many
twists and turns can we take? Let's just a quick
little timeline. Um gets traded, goes into a cryotherapy chamber,

(11:48):
doesn't have the right foot protection, walks out and it
looks like he stepped in vomit. Um can't practice, then
doesn't like his helmet, so throws a fit about the
helmet issue. Then comes back to practice. Um disappears from
the team. Uh. They end up finding him. He goes

(12:11):
to the Raider facility or a couple of days ago,
gets to do a quote unquote altercation with Mike Mayock,
whare reportedly he called him a cracker, threatened to punch
him in the face. Mike Mayack, by the way, his
general manager, Uh, and then punted a football and said
find me for that. Comes back the next day emotionally,
emotionally apologizes to his team. Apparently there were tears involved,

(12:34):
talked to Mike Mayock one on one, gave a brief
statement to the media. Um Then a couple hours later
it comes out that he was not happy about being
fined again for you know, getting into an altercation with
his general manager. Then release a video on his social media,
very well done video in which he records a conversation
with his head coach unbeknownst to his head coach and

(12:56):
puts it into a video. Then the next morning he's
released and he's not going to get a dime and
he allegedly is okays like I've never seen anything. I've
never seen anything, like I've never seen anybody who just
I mean just walked away from swear to god, he
makes like we talked about Diva wide receivers, Antonio Brown's.

(13:19):
He makes Tara Loans look like he's amish, like I
swear to god, I do not recall another player hijacking
and off season like Antonio Brown is. It's bizarre, man,
It doesn't now. We all, I mean we all have
theories as to why maybe this is, uh, this is
happening the way that it's happening, for the very erratic

(13:40):
behavior and all that stuff, and look, you do uh,
you do enough thinking. You can probably come up with
those theories on your own. Um pass the powder donuts.
But um, I will just say this, Antonio Brown, he's
gone from the Raiders. They can move on. It doesn't
cost him a single thing. John Gruden, who apparently was
amused by video last night, talked to the media earlier

(14:02):
today and had this to say about his now former
wide receiver. We just have exhausted everything. We We tried
every way possible to make it work. I'm sorry it didn't.
I apologize, but i will tell you I'm very proud
of what we did as an organization to try and
I wish Antonio nothing but the best. And I'm sorry
that we never got a chance to see him in
silver and black. I really look forward to coaching him,

(14:25):
but it's not gonna happen. I'm sorry to the Raider fans,
but again, I really want to thank our football players,
Mark Davis and Mayock and all of us. You know,
we did try to make it work, and you know,
hopefully he finds what he's looking for and now. Um So,
David Carr at NFL Network has been very vocal about
just sort of the displeasure with Antonio Brown because obviously

(14:49):
his brother Derek Carr is the quarterback, so you would
assume that some of his opinions are based on information
that he is getting from a family member who just
so happens to be the starting quarterback on the Oakland Raiders.
So Antonio Brown goes on Twitter. Um, this after the
Vancouver Canucks offer him an invite to their training camp. Uh,
and he says, see you there, So take that for

(15:09):
what it's worth. Um, But he goes on Twitter and
just writes bumper cars with two rs. It's like it
just continues to get weirder and then has the great
And this is always my favorite move on social media.
When someone really wants attention and they want you to
want to ask you what's going on, they'll post something
on Facebook like wow, just when you think you know somebody,

(15:33):
and then of course everybody sends him message everything, Okay,
what happened? Is there anything I can do? Antonio Brown
posted this on on Twitter a little over an hour ago.
Quote the child who is not embraced by the village
will burn it down to feel its warmth end quote.
So again, this is your guy. Bucky Brooks this is
your guy, This is your Antonio's just guy. Okay, what

(16:00):
do you think is really going on here? Does he
just not want to play? Is? Is that what's happening?
I think he's I mean, he's just so far out.
I don't I don't know. I don't know how you
can explain away thirty million dollars. I mean, you've scouted,
You've scouted a lot of players. He's been around the
NFL and college football for a long long time. Have
you ever seen anything like this? Never? Ever? It's unbelievable.

(16:23):
And and this is a guy who got traded away.
He got his money and then decided it while and
then just and disappeared. I mean, he like he had
twenty nine million dollars. All he had to do was
play football. He was gonna walk with twenty nine million.
Even even better than that, he had fourteen million yearantee
this year. All he had to show up on him
the week one rust. So if he just stuck it
out for another fifty six hours or so, when it

(16:46):
made fourteen million dollars, I sort of got you could
you could attach jumper cables to my nipples for fifty
six hours. And I'm sticking through it. If I can
make fourteen million dollars, I couldn't care less. He just
another another two and a half days, he would have
been fourteen million dollars. It's it's it's crazy. It doesn't

(17:06):
make any sense. Um, and people are out there going out.
You know, maybe he needs maybe he you know there's
something more going on. Maybe he needs help. Well maybe,
But at the same time, if you're the Oakland Raiders,
you've got an entire team of players that you're trying
to get ready for the final season in Oakland. Um,
they controlled hard knocks better than anybody, and the narrative

(17:27):
of their team on hard knocks better than any organization has.
And now they've got a really good player that they're
gonna be without because one he almost fried his feet
off too, he didn't like his helmet, and three, uh,
he called his general manager a cracker, Like I just
I don't know what's what's happening here. I don't and
nobody has any logic behind it. Mike Mayock, Okay, you

(17:50):
worked with Mike Mayock at the NFL Network. How thrilled
do you think Mike Mayock is at this point that
finally it's over that finally you can move on. I
think I think he's over. He's you know what, We
would be good with him, but we may be better
without him. Yeah. And and if they had and say,
Antonio Brown is a member of the Oakland Raiders, how
many wins you give him this year? Five or six?

(18:12):
M with him? Yeah? I was thinking maybe seven without him? Four?
But still not a playoff team. Right, So if you're
not a playoff team, and you've got a head coach
who's not in any danger of losing his job because
he's got a ten year deal, what's the point in
keeping him around? The fact that it took this long
for John Gruden to pull the trigger and say, all right,

(18:32):
we're done here, it's crazy. Like he gave you a
free out all last week. The past several days, you've
gotten free out after free out after free out, and
he kept giving him a second chance, and kept giving
him a third chance, and then a fourth chance, until
finally they just decided, all right, we gotta move on.
Should have moved on two days ago. Um, but it's

(18:53):
so tough. Why why is it they wouldn't have owed
him any money? They don't owe him a dime If
they were to walked, they wouldn't they had cause to
cut him. Yeah, but the player is loved and revered
by the coach and that's it. Yeah, man, that's I mean. Look,
I love a lot of things too. They're not the

(19:14):
best thing for me though, you know what I mean.
There's a lot of people who love strip clubs and
love and and love cheeseburgers and love faston. That's fine. Listen.
A lot of people love love donuts and cupcakes and
uh and ho hoes. Yeah on a cheat deail have
a donut. But the problem it just it depends. There's

(19:38):
a place in Thousand Oaks called Fosters makes a really
good apple fritter. The problem is you get through half
of an apple fritter and you feel sick. It's too bad.
It's just too much. Honestly, it's it's really just way, way, way,
way too much. Um. But there's a lot of things
that are that are you know, not great for you,
that you really really enjoy. An Tonio Brown wasn't great
for this team. It just didn't make sense. They're trying

(20:00):
to quote unquote change the culture and the fact that
Richie Incognito and Vontes Burfett can behave more than Antonio
Brown can. It's nuts man. Richie Incognito is a guy
who not too long ago, through dumbbells at somebody because
he thought they worked for the CIA. Ritchie and Cognito
walked into a funeral home and wanted to remove his

(20:22):
own father's head like that is a true story, Like
because he heard voices or like those guys, those guys
figured it out. But Antonio Brown, with fourteen to nine
million dollars on the table, if he just stuck it
out another fifty six hours, couldn't get it together. I
just this is crazy. It's just crazy, just crazy to watch,

(20:44):
crazy to see. I've never seen anything like it. And furthermore,
it's awesome. It's really awesome for what we do. It's
really a good time. If you drafted Antonio Brown on
your fantasy team, I don't know to tell you that's
that's like getting into a relationship with a stripper and
then getting piste off. She smells like alone when you
go on listen, I don't have to tell you, like
don't well, you know, guys work cologne, you know, I

(21:05):
mean it's you get a little a little bit close
up in the personal space there not that I know.
Not a big fan. That's what I hear. All right, Um,
he's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knocks. Is his Fox Sports Radio.
You can check out the show on the I Heart
Radio app. Coming up next year on Fox Sports Radio,
We're going to ask an NFL insider his thoughts on
the next destination for Antonio Brown. That's next year on

(21:27):
Fox Sports Radio. But for all the latest from around
the world of sports, Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to
the gas man, David Gasca. What's up, fellas. It's up, Dave.
I'm doing good. Bucky's how's your how's your football team?
We're alling three, talk about it. You're a real real
bleeph hole, Dave. You know that. Listen, you almost got

(21:47):
in a car crash last night after you retweeted every
bad tweet that you get your way. I can't. I
can't drive home and on the ninety one freeway with
retweet after retweet about people just telling you to offer yourself. Listen,
I you know it's there's a lot of that. There's
a lot of hate out there. I don't know. I
don't have to tell you like I I could take
it personal. And then I could just think, all right,

(22:08):
that person is probably hammered out of their mind. So
where do they know? You hope? Right? Yeah? I mean,
and I just hope there's not anywhere near me. That's
that's more more importantly when you're in a gated community.
So I think, yeah, okay, okay, Mr bag Cereal growing up, Okay,
gated community. Fair enough. Hey, guys, let's start things off

(22:31):
in college football right now. Wisconsin's pounce delivery Central Michigan
early on sixteen to nothing. Badgers, Texas A and M
with an early lead over Clemson's three nothing right now.
Started the second quarter Alabama leading New Mexico State fourteen nothing,
and on Fox Nebraska seven nothing over Colorado. At home
Michigan and Army. Here we go, third and eleven. Hopkins,

(22:53):
Army quarterback up under center. He rolls out, he's going,
he's looking to pass. He's gonna be good. Fubo. He
fumbled the ball. If did Michigan recover. If Michigan recovers,
it's over Michigan, game over. The defense wins it in
the second overtime. Those guys are pretty excited. Rien's now

(23:18):
Army is a real deal man done. I know, I
just one was the final score. Army was twenty three
point underdogs in that affair. Meawhile to the National Football League,
we go and Tonio Browning you guys mentioned it. He
got fine yesterday and then released today after the Raiders
voided out his contracts. So he's now a free agent.
He could sign with anybody whoever he chooses. Julio Jones

(23:40):
gets a three year extension from the Atlanta Falcons three years.
In the extension sixty six million dollars. But guys, at
the point of signing, he'll get paid sixty four million
dollars in that guaranteed cash. Dolphins signing guard Jesse David
to a three year deal with fifteen million dollars. Brown's
released quarterbacks Philip gaines Ian rapport reporting earlier today Jordan
Reid has a concussion still in concussion protocol. He's not

(24:02):
going to suit up week number one against the Eagles.
Back to Jones, knocks and Buckey brooks in just ten seconds.
But first to words from Farmers. Farmers insurers knows the
difference between a car hitting your bumper and a clown
car hitting your bumper. That because at Farmers we've seen
him covered it. We are Farmers under written my Farmers
Truck Fire Insurance Exchange that affiliates products aible on every state.

(24:24):
And last, but not least, Palisades thirty four Grananda Hills eight, gentlemen,
that is such dirty pool. I'm being complete. Listen, let
me just tell you something. The Palisades, all right, like
it's they don't know what it's really like. They don't
know what the San Fernando Valleys, the palace that you

(24:45):
talk about, gated community, that's the Sades, all right, Bucky Brooks,
he's he's representing the San Fernando Valley. They haven't seen
they haven't seen eighty five degrees, let alone a hundred
and ten in the San Fernando Valley. Like Bucky Brooks
doesn't grown out of hills. Right, Are they getting better?
Bucky getting better? All right? That's all that matters. Slow,

(25:06):
slow grind, Dave stuff twisting the knife, all right, Bucky Brooks.
Jonas knocks here Fox Sports Radio coming up here in
a little over ten minutes from now here on fs
are we will get into more of the bizarre situation
in the NFL that is hijack the entire leagues that
will be happening at twelve minutes from now here on
Fox Sports Radio right now. Though Adam Kaplan is joining

(25:27):
us here on Fox Sports Radio. You hear him on
Syrius s x M NFL Radio. You also hear him
here on Fox Sports Radio. Here's our Fox Sports Radio
NFL insider kind enough to spend a few minutes with
us here on fs are Adam, thanks so much for
the time. Jonas Socks, Bucky Brooks, it's gonna be back
with you, with you another season. Looking forward to it. Yeah, No,
it's gonna be a lot of fun. So listen, Um,

(25:48):
let's talk about your guy, Antonio Brown, Adam, I know
you're you're a big Antoniock guy. Ada. What the hell
is happening? Please somebody help us here. Well, look, this
is not the way the Raiders the figured this would
go down, although you would you would say after what
happened in August that there was there was some concern
about what might wind up happening. But this week's events

(26:11):
put the thing over the top here obviously, and the
social media posts really bother the Raiders that there's no
question about that. And then when he asked for his release,
they certainly were going to have no problem to be
obliging them, because after his his apology to his teammates
and and really the football team that went out the
door less than twenty four hours later. That's the problem

(26:32):
with that, that that the it rang hollow and he
didn't really back up his words, and the Raiders moved on. Unfortunately, though,
the big, the big part of this, which not enough
people are talking about, is there without third and fi
fifth round picks that they gave up to get him
and that they'll never get back. And that's why this
deal looks obviously as embarrassing as it is. I mean,
just more layers of phone layers when it comes to

(26:54):
being this deal. Um At any point did the Raiders
thing this would be savage of after the incident that
he had with my Maya, Well, I think the apology,
I thought he was gonna I I quite frankly, I
know they were going to suspend him. I think there
was a real chance here he was going to be
released had he at some point, had he not apologized,

(27:17):
then I was with everyone else saying, okay, he apologized,
at least they're going to get through week one, but
it never got there. It's really amazing. See. The thing
is like he finds out that they're gonna avoid his guarantees. Now,
what I don't know is because he what he had said,
I guess in a social media post or or to
a text to somebody might have been a text or
reporter because it was out there somewhere. It might have

(27:38):
been NFL network that he got handed um some information
that said that he was going to have his guarantee avoided. Well,
if you're gonna do that, why don't you sit him
down and explain him where you're at with this whole
situation that That's the only thing where I think the
writers probably could have handled this situation a little differently.
Whereas you sit when you're gonna handle volatile player a
certain way, it's got to be behind closed doors, so

(27:59):
he knows exactly where this is going. They've documented everything
from from day one. They've done the right thing in
terms of that. But knowing that you're dealing with a
volatile player, why would you Why would you let him
go out and feel like he's being handed this information
as he's hand as he's gonna go out to practice.
I don't get that. Maybe we'll find out more, but
the fact the matter, as this thing blew up in

(28:20):
their face. Talk to the Raiders about an hour ago.
They are they feel like they're going to be much
improved from last season even without Proud, and that remains
to be seen. They'll find out moral money to night.
Adam Kaplan, Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider joining us here
on FSR, Jonas Knox Bucke Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio. UM,
this was my whole point. I felt like Antonio Brown
gave them an out. You know, like, if if you

(28:41):
find out somebody's you know, doing something behind your back,
at least you know, all right, that's somebody I don't
want to be around. So they kind of did the
dirty work for me so I don't have to wonder
moving forward. And so he kind of showed them without
having to commit big time money and without having to
jeopardize a game or anything like that. All right, this
is what the problem is going to be. So with
that being said, even with Antonio Brown, I had the

(29:03):
Raiders at what six seven wins this season? Where I
had it is exactly where I had. They still weren't
going to be a playoff team. So to me, yeah,
third and five, it's not ideal, but cut your losses
and move on and just think about the future. You're
gonna be in Vegas next year. I just feel like
that's that's that would have been the best way to go.
And so if if that's the case, I think the
Raiders could should consider themselves pretty fortunate here. No, you're right,

(29:26):
And you know what what I would say is the
thought around the league was, if you're gonna get Antonio Brown,
you probably think you're a playoff team, are better where
you want to make a push to be a super
Bowl winner if you obviously could handle him. But what
was the Antonio Brown really going to do for the
football team? And by the way, this is the same
John Gruden who said that Clill mac was not going
to help them be a playoff team. Think about that
last year when he traded him. So that John Gruden

(29:47):
is the one who needs to to really have the
most scoring here because he has personnel control. Like he
tried to blame Reggie Mackenzie for some stuff, but this
one he can't blame anyone for that. This trade, this
decision to trade for Brown's was was Gruten's he wanted
to be, wanted to coach him. He also tried to
trying to cover some of the issues. Um, it wasn't

(30:08):
it wasn't gonna happen, and the thing blew up in
their face. You know, it is just a remarkable thing.
But I want to I want to talk about something else,
something else that happened last week, said we saw our
flurry trades happen. Um heading into the regular season, the
first week in a regular season, I want to talk
about the fit with the jadeveon Clowney in Seattle. How
do you think that's going to work out? Well, I
think it'll be good. I think um, I think they'll

(30:31):
do a good job figure out how to use him.
They when they lost Frank Clark, I knew that that
was something they're not being able to replace. But they're
going to try to replace some of his productivity with
Clowney and they'll figure out after the season one kind
of contract he'll get assuming stays healthy. But look, they
this is a defense that is pretty much not what
it was during the Super Bowl run. They've gotten a

(30:52):
lot younger, by the way, Clowney only turns twenty seven
in February, so it's a little bit younger than most
people know. Um, they've been you know, they've been pretty
aggressive in trades over the years. When they traded for
for Dwayne Brown, they need a left tackle, so they
got one. They need some pass rush help, and then
they got they got some. But my one question would be,
why was it Bill O'Brien so motivated to trade this player?

(31:12):
But I was told before the draft he was actually available.
We're talking about Clowney, so why do you want to
move him? I'll never understand that. No one's ever been
able to quite figure that out. Yeah, it's uh, I mean,
look and good for Seattle. And if you're Seattle, you
look at their situation. They trade away Frank Clark. They
now have Ziggy Onza and Jadevian Clowney for what basically
would be the price of if they would have kept

(31:34):
Frank Clark or tried to franchise him. So if you're
Pete Carroll, you've gotta be excited about that. Yeah. The
the one thing though, when you really look at it,
Frank Clark is such a phenomenal football player. People have
no idea. What do you see him? Gets the Jaguars,
and that offer that that Jaguar offensive line, which is
gonna be without its left tackle, uh and their backup
left tackle probably, So you're gonna you're gonna see Frank Clark, who,

(31:57):
by the way, could play inside and nicol if you
want them to. He's really going to help the Chiefs.
That's the thing. I don't think enough people outside I
don't know how good Frank Clark is. You're not gonna
be able to replace him. He's one of the most
outrated players in the league. Now he got paid like
a big time star. I think he's gonna have a
big year for them, and uh and a big reason
why I'm gonna pick the Chiefs to make the Super Bowl.
Yeah a look at that. How about the cheese? But

(32:21):
what about the team. There's a team in their division
to Denver Broncos with Joe Flacco and the defense big
fan Joe gets his hands on awesome. Guys, What do
you think about Joe Flacco? How do you expect him
to play with Rich Scanned Growlow calling the place? Yeah,
you know, it's interesting covered Flaccos and so seven ways
that Delaware actually want to see him play and he
is a very talented arm strength guy. Mean, that's really

(32:43):
been his situation. Uh, you've you've been concerned about his accuracy.
The durability thing. Look, he towards a c L. Other
than that, he's been pretty durable. He had the partial
hit labram tear that he held on its own. He
didn't need surgery. He's got a lot to prove a
thirty four years old. I know he's very freaking aditive
and getting Amanua standards back from his achilles surgery. He

(33:03):
looks really good by the way that they have Courtland
Sutton h DaShan Hamilton's I know they're excited about Um,
you know, no a fan. They're gonna have a very
interesting offense. They have a good run game. They they
their offensive lines are great. But I think it's gounda
be good enough. They one issue that I think that
the le Broncos have is in the secondary. That that's
where I think the Raiders will attack on Monday night.

(33:24):
All right, last one for Adam Kaplan series x M,
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider joining us here on fs
are back to Antonio Brown tell us, Um, Look, I
don't think it's a question of if he gets picked
up by somebody else. I think it's a question of
when and who are a couple of teams out there
that you think could take a chance on Antonio Brown. Yeah,
I'm with the people and we'll see obviously whether it happened.

(33:44):
And I'm with the people that would think that would
make a lot of sense for New England. But no,
on the way in New England does business. I mean
basically Brown and have to agree not to be on
social media after what's happened there or anything that would
be interesting because there are plenty of teams that could
use receivers. He's gonna have to agree not to go
on social media during a tenure with the new chief.
He's gonna have to How could you do anything else

(34:05):
with him, because based on the way he handles himself,
I sort of God, he's on social media more than
my fifteen year old niece, and she would terrible. She is.
It's like she won't get off her phone. It's it's
I asked Bucky this and and and again, and I
like to you last time, this is really the last one.
Is has anything been more bizarre that since you've been
covering the NFL than this situation with Anthony Brown, I

(34:26):
got one for you because they're similar. Two thousand and four,
Tara Loans with the Eagles. Tara Loans was so belligerent.
What do you because he was so pissed off at
not getting his contract. We've done after one year. By
the way, if you if you saw him the hallway,
he would ignore you and he would also tell his
coaches not to talk to him. That's how bizarre was.
And if you remember, then then I when you try
to get us some money back after the Eagle's caught him,

(34:48):
his situation went to arbitration. But that was a that
was pretty close to this. But because we didn't have
social media back to two thousand and four, this one's
a little bit worse. Oh that's amazing, all right. He
is Adam Kaplan Serious x M, Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider,
joining us here on fs ARE. You can get him
on Twitter at Kaplan NFL. Adam, thanks so much for
the time, man. We appreciate it. Thank you. Jonahs knocks

(35:10):
Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio Studios, where it's easy to say fift center.
More on car insurance with Geico, go to Geico Dot
com or call eight seven Auto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. All right, I have
a sleeper team to sign Antonio Brown. Find out who
it is next here on Fox Sports Radio. Farmers Insurance

(35:31):
knows the difference between a car hitting your bumper and
a clown car hitting your poet that because at Farmers
we've seen him covered it. We are Farmers under written
my Farmers truck fire insurance exchange that affiliates products unavailable
in every state. This song's got Bucky Brooks written all
over it. I could just see him. You, you in
the weight room at doing hacks squats to this song.

(35:54):
Faith not are happening? Not your years, babe. Alright, So
he's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. Is is Fox Sports Radio.
A couple of updates here. One the big game going
on in college football right now. It is Texas A
and M and Clemson. Clemson, number one team in the country,

(36:15):
has a seven three lead. That game is in the
second quarter. Clemson is driving right now, but a close
one in Death Valley, under six minutes to go in
the first half. There for the Clemson Tigers. Um Also earlier,
Michigan survives and beats Army in double overtime on a
strip sack. Army actually, if they would have scored a

(36:36):
touchdown there would have won the game. But they faced
a third and long drop back to pass. They're not
exactly the most fluid passing team in the world, and
a Michigan got a strip sack, so they survive. And
then also kabib Nermaga made off. Is still the UFC
lightweight champion? Is he just choked out dustin pourrier in

(36:56):
Abu Dhabi? How about that? No? Third round? Yeah, the
third round. So listen, man, look, I know you think
you come here and you go, we're just gonna get football.
We're gonna get football shoved down our throats. No, no,
because not only have we talked about football, we've now
talked about the UFC. We talked about high school football,

(37:17):
cryotherapy chambers and uh and then we really have a cover.
Yeah right there, she was down, she was down four
to the opening opening. Yeah, we we do have the
US So I kind of feel bad for the US Open,
all right, because it's it's a great event. What's a
great event, and um, I just don't know that anybody watches.
There's too much going on. Man, A lot of people
watch them because they want to see her win our

(37:37):
twenty four Grandsam title. I get it. But there's you know,
there's a lot of people are football junkies, and they're
more enamored with Antonio Brown and whatever the hell he's
got going on. What he didn't have heard the news
he's now form re member of the Oakland Raiders. Oh yeah,
can you believe that? Fantasy draft? I know? All right,

(38:01):
So I have a a couple of possible destinations for
Antonio Brown. I want to run by you right. Destination
number one, this is the more believable. I'm talking about
a team that that feels like they've got to go
all in to try and win, a team who doesn't

(38:21):
have a ton of money tied up at the wide
receiver position, especially long term, and a team who feels
like they've got the infrastructure to take care of a
big personality if he walks in the building. That team.
Can you guess Bucky Brooks. I think towards the Baltimore
No no, no, no, no, no, NFC NFC. Yeah, a

(38:43):
big personnel. I'll give I'll give you a hint. Their
training camp is in knox Nard. Come on, Dallas Cowboy,
come what a b on the Dallas Cowboys? Come on, man, listen,

(39:05):
you need look. I like him Mark Cooper just as
much as the next I'm telling you. But but think
about it, Jerry Jones, You know, Jerry Jones. It was
just such a bite in the ass this offseason seeing
the Raiders get all the attention. You know, Jerry, that
attention in their right mind would take him on right now,
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys come here. Who's the

(39:25):
second team? Uh? The XFL. I've done you. They would
make him the face of the league. I think they'd
also try and make a run at Colin Kaepernick. And
you tell me that is now a watchable product. If
they were to make Antonio Brown the face of the league,
I mean, it would be more entertaining for sure. Hell yeah.

(39:45):
So so that's just a couple of ideas. Everyone's talking
the Patriots. I don't buy it for a second. I'm
leaning the Dallas Cowboys or the XFL for Antonio Brown. Yeah,
I know, how about that? All right? Jonas knocks Bucky
Brooks more here in the NFL on Fox Sports Radio.
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Well, well, well, just

(40:07):
when you think we've seen enough twists and turns for
one weekend, not even a full weekend, about a half weekend,
actually nothing, a half day of the weekend with Antonio Brown,
we take another one. Breaking news that we will have
for you are coming up in just a moment. He's
Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio,
and we come to you live here from the Geico

(40:28):
Fox Sports Radio studios. Or fifteen minutes could save you
fifteen percent more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com
for a free rate quote and for breaking news on
Antonio Brown. We send it over to David Gascon, our
national update anchor, Breaking news from Fox Sports guys. This

(40:49):
just came down the wire seconds ago. Antonio Brown goes
from the West Coast to the East Coast. Released related
today a but the Oakland Raiders. He has now agreed
to terms with the new England pay Trips Tom Brady,
Bill Belichick is now in the building for them in Foxboro. Yeah,
and the details on that, Bucky Brooks a one year
deal up to fifteen million dollars in worth and a

(41:11):
nine million dollars signing bonus for Antonio Brown sign nine
million dollars signing bonus. I just listen, man, So here
here's what I'll say about the entire thing. Right there,
There's something that people will talk about when it comes
to kids in classrooms and how kids crave structure and discipline.

(41:36):
The one thing that everyone knows when you walk in
the building in New England, it is structured, and his
discipline it is consistent. It doesn't matter who you are,
everyone kind of falls in line. And I believe maybe
because things to appear to be so kaotic for a
b then maybe he craves and desires a program where

(41:57):
he knows his stuff isn't going to fly because Belichick
is no nonsense, and maybe, for whatever reason, he sees
this as an opportunity not only for him to thrive
with a quarterback in Tom Brady, but a way for
him to reset and reboot his career. So if he
plays successfully there in New England, he either signs a

(42:17):
big deal with them or he goes somewhere else, and
then everyone can look and say, look, maybe it was
Pittsburgh that was screwed up. Maybe it was Oakland that
was screwed up. Maybe He's not um to blame. Maybe
it was the way that those organizations were structured in
the way they went about their business that affected the
way that he got down by the way, Thoughts and

(42:37):
prayers to ESPN, who was really hoping that late Monday
Night football game starring Antonio Brown was going to be
a ratings bananza. Go ahead and hand that baton now
over to NBC and Sunday Night Football because the Patriots
host the Steelers on Sunday Night. He can't play. You
don't think he can play, Yes, he absolutely can't. Why
couldn't he play? You don't think he's gonna be available
for the Steelers? How great would that? I'm telling you man,

(43:00):
How great would it be if they could get him
on the field. I'm telling you man, you talk about
I mean a winning lotto ticket in the hands of
ESPN and Monday Night Football that just blew away in
the wind. Augusta Wynn blew it away and it landed
in NBC's lap. And so Sunday Night Football is going
to be Antonio Brown taking on his former team, the Steelers. Wow. Yeah,

(43:26):
it's crazy, man. And and if if he doesn't get
it this time, if he doesn't. Well, I'm just saying
like at one point, you've now tried everything, all right,
You've tried the Pittsburgh Steelers organization who drafted you and
groomed you and brought you up and paid you. And
the Pittsburgh steel organization is a very well run organization

(43:50):
and a successful organization, but they'll let you slide a
little bit. And then you went to the other side,
and you tried the Oakland Raiders that are, you know,
juggling on unicycles and there's bells and whistles and they're
going to Vegas and their coaches all over the place,
and there GM was a TV star and and all
that other stuff. So that didn't work. Now you're going
all the way to the opposite end of the spectrum,

(44:10):
and you've got the Patriots discipline. Do this, do that,
or you're not going to be a part of it.
We don't care who you are. I mean, this is,
this is and it's and it's the best weapon Tom
Brady has had since Randy Moss, that wide receiver. Yeah,
I mean, look, he's telling the guy the only thing
got worried about with a B. The Patriots system is

(44:31):
such a detailed and precise system. And he's a bit
of a freelancer, a bit of a street ball player.
I'm wondering how that turns out. Chad Ocho Sinko had
a tough time playing in that structured offense. I just
want to can a b Can he play in a

(44:54):
structured offense that doesn't have a lot of freelancer doesn't
give you a lot of wiggle room? Yeah, And there
was tuck that Antonio Brown would frustrate Ben Roethlisberger because
he wouldn't be at the right depth on some of
his routes. He wouldn't be and it just sort of
caused a little bit of chaos with the offense. That
being said, he's an incredible talent and an amazing player.
But just to think where we are, Like if I

(45:16):
if I were to tell you, um, seventy two hours ago,
Antonio Brown is going to be on the field this
weekend in the NFL, and it's going to be Sunday
Night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. You think I was high?
Like why not? Okay, let's go okay, let's go live
to our Can Antonio Brown play on Sunday Night? Insider

(45:37):
Gavin Kinsel for the latest Gavin, Antonio Brown cannot play
Week one because he wasn't on the roster by four
pm today, which means he can't play against the Steelers tomorrow,
which is the only thing this whole saga isn't missing. Okay,
hold on a second, four pm? Where because I'll tell
you right now. Okay, But it's eleven after in the morning.
It's a seven after eleven in the morning in Hawaii,

(45:58):
so that's well before four pm. Alright, So so what
four pm are we talking about here? If I'm NBC, look,
float Roger Goodell a few bucks, whatever you need to do.
Somebody find a loophole in this system, just like you
found a loophole with the helmet, and get Antonio Brown
on the field for Sunday night. Please, could somebody do that? Please?
Please don't because I already bet Steelers plus five. Gavin, listen,

(46:21):
this is just the way it's got to be, so man,
this is this is craziness. And so now Antonio Brown
is a is a member of the New England Patriots,
and according to Gavin, will not be available to play
on a Sunday night. It also, just like it ruins Gavin,
Betty had him plus five and a half. It also
ruins the segment I just did with Bucky Brooks here

(46:43):
less than twenty minutes ago, where I said the Dallas
Cowboys would sign him next. So that's not gone. That
is gone. We can close the coffin on that idea
the XFL. We can also close the coffin there and here.
You can't close it all the way. The XFL coffering
should be open because who knows how much better are
the Patriots right now to Antonio Brown, I mean right
now as TVD because I need to make sure he's

(47:03):
gonna show it without an injury. He's gonna show with
his feet intact, he's gonna be there. He has so
many things I have to wait and see with his
feet into you act like he's Mr potato Head. You're
just taking off like yeah, I just uh yeah. By

(47:24):
the way, talk about maybe rethinking that whole approach. Maybe
let's let's think about how this is the optics of
this um look And regardless, you're gonna get a lot
of the dirty looks. You're gonna get Antonio Brown on
the sideline, a lot of the uh, It's still going
to be a bizarre scene. I wonder if the Patriots

(47:47):
would prefer him not be at the stadium for that
game one. I wonder if the Patriots prefer him not
to be on the side. I get it, I get it.
But there's there's been a lot of trash talk that's
gone on, a lot of this finger pointing and back
and forth. All that's gonna take is for Juju Smith
Schuster to catch a ball on an out route, go
out of bounds and toss the football of Antonio Brown's

(48:09):
face as he's walking away, and then we've got we've
got a Donny Brook on our hands. I don't I mean,
I'm just saying, man, this is and now now now
it throws al Michaels is uh, you know, commentary on
the gambling spread late in the game, all up in
a in a tissy because Al Michael's maybe had, you know,

(48:30):
a few bucks on the game, and now he's got
to worry about whether or not it would have been
affected by Antonio Brown. But uh, this is this is
bizarro world. Um, it's a it's it's a very bizarre situation.
We now we actually have sound here on Fox Sports Radio,
Jonas knocks Bucky Brooks this is uh Antonio Brown getting released?
This is a YouTube video. Of course, it is put

(48:53):
together by none other than Antonio Brown. Let's see fun yo,

(49:16):
let's yore? Oh God is the greatest. I don't know
what to do. I don't know, like grandmother like. And

(49:43):
this is the guy who was not I don't want
to say begging, all right, but he could not be
more ecstatic about being a member of the Oakland Raiders.
When did that happen? March Mark? I mean it took
six months, six months and not even a down played
with the team, and I don't even know how many
practice as he played with the team for Antonio Brown
to run around make another YouTube video um getting released

(50:06):
by the Oakland Raiders. I mean, if the Raiders are
really petty, if John Gruden is really petty, here's the move.
You now sue him for putting your recorded conversation on
a YouTube video without his consent, which is a full
blown violation in the state of California. If you're if
you're that petty, that's the avenue you take it. If

(50:27):
you're John Gruten, which I would if I were him.
Just to add another spoke, this is we could do
an entire documentary on just this offseason for Antonio Brown.
We could do an entire documentary on whether you want
to call it a thirty for thirty, a football life, whatever,
an entire documentary on the circus that has been Antonio

(50:47):
Brown this offseason. But nonetheless, listen, guy got what he wanted.
Apparently at this moment in Antonio Brown is now a
member of the New England Patriots, Antonio Brown signing a
one year deal up to fifteen million dollars, nine million
of which is guaranteed money. Antonio Brown is now a

(51:09):
New England Patriot, teaming up with Tom Brady Bill Belichick
as they take on his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers
on Sunday night. So again, thoughts and prayers to ESPN
that Monday that Monday night came between the Raiders and
Broncos is now resorted. Yeah, it went from the biggest

(51:29):
story in the NFL to two bad football teams playing
on a baseball field. What a kicking the nuts? That's soubelievable.
All right, Bucky Brooks Jonas Stocks here on Fox Sports Trading,
We'll have more on this developing situation in the NFL
involving Antonio Brown that's next year on FSR. At Farmers Assurance,

(51:51):
we know there's a crucial difference between a kick drum
pedal and your car's accelerator pedal because at Farmers we've
seen and covered it. We are Farmers under written. My
Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates product un avlable
every state. He is Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knocks. This
is Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over ten
minutes from now here on fs ARE. Somebody was given

(52:13):
a I guess they were soon as it just came
down uh month ago in the NFL. Antonio brown h
is now a member of the New England Persons have concerned,
have confirmed Drew Rosenhouse the deal is a one year
dean dollars nine million of which is guaranteed. So Antonio
by now a member of the New England Patriots. Now

(52:34):
that being said, um, he was a former member of
the Oakland Raiders. He almost made it to Game one
on Monday night and had fourteen more million dollars in
his bank account, but unfortunately that melted down pretty quick.
And so that being said. Josh Dubau joining us here
on Fox Sports Radio. He covers the Raiders for the
Associated Press. Josh, thanks so much for the time. I

(52:54):
know it's been a crazy couple of days they're covering
the Raiders. What do you make of the latest developments? Um,
but the least surprising part of the whole thing, right
that he ends up with the Patriots. Did anybody get
a sense that this is how this could go when
Antonio Brown was brought in there? Um, But you always

(53:16):
knew it was the possibility could go this way. And
obviously the way the things ended in Pittsburgh and that's
a more stable organization than in Oakland. So I think
the Raiders were hopeful that it would have turned out better.
But obviously they knew to a certain extent that, you know,
the risks involved, because you don't get a player like
Antonio Brown for a third and the fifth round pick

(53:36):
if everything, if everything's right with him, you know, if
there's not the off the field, you know, the sideshow
stuff with him, the price to get him is a
lot higher than it was. So they obviously knew that
was a possibility. They were hoping they could work their
way through it, and it didn't work out for them.
Why Why do you think the biggest reason. What's the
biggest reason why it didn't work out? Is it a B?

(53:57):
Is it something that we don't know about internally with
the Raider that just in click with the two, you know,
I was just part of It's kind of gotta be
a B. I don't know. You know, there were a
lot of things going a lot, you know, a lot
of things going on. UM. You obviously the issues of
Pittsburgh's tie issues before you know, I think, you know,

(54:18):
John Grewden especially tried his hardest to make it working.
John really wanted want to maybe on the team UM,
and he really liked that idea. I think he tried
it as hard as he could to make it work.
You know. I think obviously there was some conflict between
the GM and and A being Mike Mac and AB um.
You know, for the things we saw, the relationship with
Derek and Abe was was pretty good. Now Abe went

(54:40):
to Bakersfield, of all places, and the summer to work
out with Derek. That worked out a lot in the
obviousites and away from the facility, UM that part team.
You know, on the surface, at least, it seems okay.
And we haven't heard anything to lead us otherwise, I
know John really wanted it to work, So it's hard
hard to understand it other than being a for whatever reason,

(55:01):
he was not you know, he's I didn't feel comfortable.
I don't know what it was with it. Yeah, it's
hard to write that. We didn't really get a chance
to get to know him very well, and he wasn't
around that much and were there on that long. So
Josh Dubo covers the Raiders for the Associated Press, joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas knocks Bucky Brooks
here on fs ARE. What is the feeling there with

(55:22):
the Raiders now that Antonio Brown is gone? As there
a sense of relief If you had to describe it,
how would you put it? Um, I wouldn't seem really Yeah,
obviously different for different people. I think I think disappointment.
For for Jon Gruden definitely, um yeah, I think for
sure for his standpoint, disappointment and he was really excited

(55:42):
to have him. Um. I think for you know, some
players are probably uh, you know, you know, probably some
guys in the locker room who are a little bit
relieved that he's the police, the circus part is over,
but you know they're not a better team today and
they were, you know, yesterday when he came and apologize,

(56:02):
it looked like maybe he'd be playing, you know that
your worst team and Adam than you are with him,
so like a guy over that talent. So um, you know,
maybe a little release that the circus partner is over.
But I think that a little disappointment that they don't
have them too. So so where do they go from here?
Like this guy was probably maybe their number one player
in the past game, maybe their best offensive player outside

(56:23):
of Dairy Carr. Where did the Raiders go now that
he's not going to be on the team heading into
the regular season. Well, the story that they tell us
that when maybe he was supposed to be going to
Buffalo way back in March and they thought that's what
it was, Uh may circle Tyroll Williams is the number
as the number one receiver they wanted and the guy
who they thought could be a number one receiver. Um,

(56:47):
so now they got a chancy whether that works out,
you know, I think he was probably better suited to
being a complimentary to A B and the other guys
they have, and they don't really have a guy at
least improvement as a number one receiver in league and
have Tyro Williams and then outside of him, you know,
they had to read from the rook idiot Ryan Grant
and j J. Nelson. They you don't have a bunch

(57:08):
of guys who have a long track record of success
even tight end. They've Darren Waller, they're excited about basic
guys only got a handful of captives in his career,
so that they really don't have much proven and there's
back catches for Derek at this point. Josh Dubo covers
the Raiders for the Associated Press. You can get him
on Twitter at Josh Dubo a P. Josh, thanks so
much for the time, man. We know it's been a

(57:29):
wild few days they're covering the Raiders, so we appreciate
a few minutes of your time here. Thanks, no problem.
Jonah Stocks Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio. So
now we were throwing this out there, Bucky that Antonio
Brown his availability for the New England Patriots on Sunday
night as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers to open up
the season. And so people have now shot that down
and said, well, you would have to have been an

(57:51):
active member of the team at four pm Eastern time today,
So he just narrowly missed being an active member of
the Patriots team in order to be available for that game.
Here's what I think happened. I think Bill Belichick intentionally
waited to complete the trade or to complete the signing
until after four pm Eastern time because he didn't want

(58:12):
to deal with that circus on Monday on Sunday Night Football.
That's what I think. I think Bill Belichick knew exactly
what the rule was, just like he knows exactly what
every rule was, and he knew if I signed the
guy before and it gets announced before four pm Eastern time,
he will be available on Sunday Night Football. We're willing
to take on a distraction, but this one's too combustible.

(58:32):
Let's go ahead and wait, we'll kind of table it
a little bit, and then we'll sign Antonio Brown and
that way he's not available on Sunday Night Football and
it doesn't turn into a bigger mess than it needs
to be. That's what I think it just and it's
too bad. I mean, it's a bummer, But that being said,
he is going to I would assume, I would assume
be in the stadium on the sidelines. They're watching it

(58:55):
all in, I would assume, but who knows what Belichick
maybe maybe he's not a big fan. But it just,
you know, like you listen to to Josh there, who
covers the Raiders, I mean, they seem exhausted, Like anybody
that covers the Raiders and covers Antonio Brown and anybody
involved with this Antonio Brown situation in Oakland just seems spent.

(59:16):
They seem exhausted. Mayock was over it weeks ago. I
think I think Mayok when he came out and said, listen,
he's either gonna be he or he's not. I think
that was Mayock saying, and then I'm done with this crap.
I don't care what happens from here on out. And
when Antonio Brown blew up on him a couple of
days ago, Mayok probably thought to himself, Oh God, this
is our this is our chance to get out of this.
And then he stayed around for a little bit and

(59:37):
they welcomed him back in and he apologized. Now lo
and behold, he makes a video and he's now gone
and no longer remember the New England Patriot or remember
the Oakland Raiders. So uh, just incredible. How this whole
thing is. Yeah, it's it's amazing stuff, all right, Bucky
Brooks Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to
you Alive from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, where

(01:00:00):
it's easy to say more on car insurance with Geico
dot Com or call seven Auto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. You will hear the
exact moment than Antonio Brown was released by the Oakland Raiders.
That's coming up next year on fs are but for
all the latest from around the world of sports. Tom Brokaw,

(01:00:21):
who's on the updates today. Yeah, that's bad. That audio,
I mean it is, Uh, it's it's bizarre. And you
can actually see the video to where he he's jumping
up and down. He's just thrilled with himself. Agents get
the better of them in the tuck Roll game, and

(01:00:43):
now you get them here again. Will they lose to
draft picks? Right? Well? And also this isn't the first
time a a wide receiver with quote unquote it's issues
leaves Oakland to go to New England and that worked
out pretty well with Rainy Moss for a short time.
So you're gonna have Edelman inside with Gordon and Brown
on the outside. How's that for a wide receiver trio

(01:01:05):
and entleman Antonio Brown and you've got Josh Gordon. That's good. Yeah,
that that might be the best end. Look, they don't
have Gronk, but I think I think they're gonna be okay,
And I think there's no rush to bring Gronk back.
And Grog did say he's just a phone call away
if Brady does call him. Let's go. Let's go live.
To Bill Belichick, who was joining us here on Fox

(01:01:26):
Sports Radio, Coach, your thoughts on the signing of Antonio Brown. Thanks, coach,
appreciate your time here. Okay, thank you, coach. No, we're
just trying to do a show, Coach, whenever you're ready
to exit. It's just so good for him, right, a
one year deal fifteen million dollars and think it's a
nine million dollar signing bonus for f him? What about us?

(01:01:47):
This is good for us? Are kidding me? Well? Yeah,
I mean we had this without the signing and now
we get it. I guess the timing would have been better,
like Gavin mentioned, if the signing was earlier in the day,
so he would have been eligible for would he will
we tell you this? You know what they is. This
is the show that we prepped before we came in.

(01:02:09):
We'll see you. Sorry, well, we'll let you slide this week,
Mitch Drabinsky, we got bigger things going on in the NFL.
Good god, man, it's gonna be fun though. Just imagine
that you get Kansas City and New England and a
f C Championship game rematch. Can I give you a
preview of Sunday Night when Chris Collinsworth, when they when
they when they pan over to Antonio Brown and uh

(01:02:31):
and they see him on the sidelines. Can we get
the Sunday and I D NBC Sunday Night Bootball music?
All right? Ready, I mean I gotta tell you like
you talk about all the talented guys in this league. Look,
I mean what happened in the off season was just crazy.
But Antonio Brown, the moves, the hands, everything this guy

(01:02:52):
is capable of. Tom If I'm Tom Brady and Bill
Belichick goal Lee, they got themselves a keeper here about you?
Al who do you like in this game? We'll leave
you Dave. All right, So that's really good. Now here's
my question for you guys, who does Michelle Defoy interview
prior to kick off? And if she interviews Bill Belichick?

(01:03:16):
Do you think she's got the stones to ask about Brown? Um? Yeah,
I mean, what's he He's not gonna answer it anyway,
exactly do it. No, you've got to ask a question. Though,
you have to ask the question. You gotta ask him.
I mean, that's the biggest story. I mean, you got
so you got to ask the question. Um, and he's
not going to answer it. But that's fine. They're gonna

(01:03:38):
ask that question. And then let's fast forward to Monday
night because Tom Brady does those Macy's interviews and what's
can we do a prop bet on that? What's the
over under on? How many? How many questions? In before
Tom Brady answers Antonio Brown question on the Macy's appearance
that he does for Westwood One? How many? How many? Before?

(01:04:00):
Where Jim Gray that goes on and says that you know, Tom,
are you still a nail bier? Tom? That's the breaking
news today of the National Football League with Brown being
released by the Raiders and then just hours letter he
signs with the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, college football Clemson
leading Texas A and M at home seventeen and three

(01:04:21):
Trevor Lawns in the day, eight yards passing. He's got
two t s, one on the ground and one through
the air. Wisconsin is beating down Central Michigan forty four nothing.
That ballgames at the half. Number two Alabama leading New
Mexico State thirty eight to nothing, Nebraska on Foxley's Colorado
seventeen nothing, and number three Georgia make him look easy
against Murray State five to seven. Earlier today Michigan survived

(01:04:45):
in double overtime. They beat Army twenty one or two
no on the young season back to just Knox and
Bucky Brooks in just ten seconds. But first, a word
from Farmers Farmers and sums knows the difference between a
car hitting your bumper and a clowne car hitting your
not that because at Farmers we've seen them covered. It
were under written my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges products

(01:05:10):
unavlable in every stage. And this is a bigger kick
to the to the groin to right of the A
f C East because you think about the holes in
the defense of the Jets. Yeah, and the Bills can
attack Brady, but man, you look at the defenses in
the a f C. I mean that personnelity will be
all kinds of problems. If you're if you're Brian Flores,
how about the like how about if you're Brian Flores,

(01:05:31):
you're like, oh man, this is uh can I get
a redo here? Um? How about how about Josh Gordon?
Like you know that this is all like Josh Gordon.
They want to really support him. Um, you know, show
him leadership, show him you know the way that the
way that it needs to be done. Um. By the way,
here's your new mentor, Antonio Brown. Whatever you do, stay
out of the cryo chambers, and you know what, don't

(01:05:52):
go to any massage parlors. No, kiddy, that's a great
point by Dave Gascon. Yeah, way to way to bury
the lead everybody. Let's not forget, all right, that this
is still a team who's less than a year away
from their owner going twice Uh to the Uh yeah

(01:06:16):
I did like it is it's oh man, um look
not to uh not not to tug this segment into
the ground any further, Dave, but very very bizarre past
less than a year for the New England Patriots. Um,
just you know, Bob Kraft and uh, Gronk is now
doing CBD commercials, and he's lost a bunch of weight.

(01:06:39):
And there's Tom Brady and he put his house up
for sale and Roger this what an amazing, amazing offseason
for the Patriots, and now they've got Antonio Brown who's
now a member of the Patriots. By the way, um,
for you people that are listening on what appears to
be about a half hour delay on the show, uh,
we are aware that the New England Patriots cannot play

(01:07:02):
Antonio Brown because he had to be a member of
the team by four pm Eastern time, which is why
we just spoke about how Bill Belichick did it intentionally
so that Antonio Brown wouldn't be a part of the
circus on Sunday night. So update your app and then
get back to the show. I'm not either coach, alright.
So that being said, Antonio Brown was released by the

(01:07:25):
Oakland Raiders. And of course, much like everything Antonio Brown does,
because he's got a social media addiction, Antonio Brown posted
this on YouTube. It's now all over his social media.
Ladies and gentlemen, the the premier of Antonio Brown being released.
He let me see fy, let's go they're free girl.

(01:08:12):
Oh god, yeah, so there it is. He's steriled. Man.
Grandma knew it was all gonna work out. They're all
gonna work out. Everybody needs have a brain. Okay, you
know where this conversation is going to go. Tampering on
the Patriots? Would I'm just telling you exactly. I don't
think they are, but it's already being floated out there.

(01:08:33):
I can guarante Rob Parker the biggest Patriot hater in
the world. I guarantee you, without even knowing whether or
not Rob Parker believed, we should almost call Rob Parker
just just to say, hey, Rob, do you think there
was tampler Uh? And it was said, oh, come on,
it's what I was saying. Uh, they're the Bissaudes, the
biggest scam artists in the history of the NFL. I'm

(01:08:55):
telling you like it's they're going to be accused of tampering.
Um leil. Later fans feel like they got took a
third and five. And now Antonio Brown is a member
of the New England Patriots. And then I saw this
also thrown out there on social media that the Patriots
might end up with a compensatory pick. Also, I don't
know how does that Okay, how does that work? The

(01:09:17):
compensatory picks for the New England Patriots based on like
it's something with tinder Um, like the level that you
you tender to tag, how much it comes back and
stuff like that, and so, um, if you sign a
player and he signed somewhere else, you guaranteed at least
a third round pick. But um, it's a little formula

(01:09:39):
and it goes with it. But I mean, this is
it's amazing, man. The Patriots continue to do better than
everybody else. That's why. Look, people can complain about the
organization and they can say, well, they've had all these
scandals and all this stuff within the Patriots, and they
do it whatever it is. They just know how to
operate their organization and they know how to work the

(01:09:59):
system better than anybody else does. And there's multiple examples
of it. Remember the playoff game against the Ravens, the
Patriots figured out a play that wasn't illegal at the time,
that was completely illegal that became illegal in the off
season against Baltimore and John Harbor. The Ravens are looking around, going,
hold on a second, you can't do that it was
nowhere in the rule book. It was in the off

(01:10:19):
season because then nobody had ever tried it. But the
Patriots did that. They just figure out a way to
land the best players, make the best moves, and all
fitted in nicely as they continue to try and compete
for championships. Yeah, he has, he has a master planning.
It definitely hasn't figured out. I heard uh In talking
and Brady Quinn told me this at the Super Bowl. Um,

(01:10:41):
that Bill Belichick meets with officials to go over how
certain guys call holding. Now that's that's that's probably true.
I've heard about Pee Carroll keeps charts on all the
officials I know, Um base who who's more likely they
called passive? All of that is so it's just no

(01:11:02):
stone on turn with the Patriots. Um, incredible what has
happened at Antonio Brown? Months ago was a Steeler, days ago,
was a Raider, an hour ago, he's a Patriot. And
so here we go the Antonio Brown saga continues. He's
Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox is his Fox Sports Radio
Company Alive from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios, where
it's easy to say more on car In turns with

(01:11:24):
Geico Go to Geico Comical eight nine seven Auto. The
only hard part figuring out which way is easier. Up next,
it is the debut of something we have never done
in the history of Fox Sports Radio, and I think
there's probably a reason for that if you want to
be a part of that history, though, don't go anywhere.
That's next on Fox Sports Radio. At Farmers Insurance, we

(01:11:47):
know there's a crucial difference between a kick drum pedal
and your car's accelerator pedal. Because at Farmers we've seen
and covered it. We are Farmers under written. My Farmers
took fire Insurance Exchange and affiliates prob unavailable in every state.
He's Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knocks is his Fox Sports Radio.
You can always listen to the show on the I
Heart Radio app. Quick Update number one Clemson as a

(01:12:11):
seventeen three lead over number twelve Texas and m early
on in the third quarter there at Clemson, so we'll
keep you posted as to anything that happens there. Jim
Harbon Michigan Survivors Scare. It took two overtimes and a
missed field goal at the end of regulation, but they
beat Army twenty four to one. But Jim Harbag gets

(01:12:33):
a little bit of a reprieve. He gets a little
bit of some some relief from the criticism because all
the attention is being paid to Antonio Brown, who, upon
being released by the Oakland Raiders early on, Antonio Brown
is now a member of the New England Patriots, signing
a one year, fifteen million dollar deal and the latest

(01:12:53):
number is ten million dollars guaranteed, not nine million dollars.
So uh, anton Anio Brown gets paid after not getting
paid by the Oakland Raiders. Good for him, and you
know what, good for whatever the company is that sponsored him.
In his helmet, they're getting a lot of pub I mean,
he's all over the place. If you're a sponsor of

(01:13:13):
Antonio Brown, you gotta feel good about things. So we
will keep you up to date on all of that
as well too, and the developments that happened there with
Antonio Brown. All right, So we decided because um, there's
a member of our show here who's got a real passion.
He's got a real passion for all things Iowa. His
name is Iowa sam Uh. He has forgotten more about

(01:13:36):
college football in the State of Iowa than anybody walking
the face of the earth. So we thought, you know what,
let's throw him a bone. What if we give him
sixty seconds every single Saturday we called the Iowa Minute,
and we let him tell us what has happened in
the state of Iowa when it comes to college football. So,
for the debut edition, something that we can almost promise

(01:13:57):
you is going to sound really, really a little rocky
here at first, because we're just putting this together last minute.
Iowa Sam is here for the debut of the Iowa Minute.
Al Right, guys, let's start off with Northern Iowa Cedar Falls. Well,
they lost Iowa State last week and triple overtime. A

(01:14:19):
lot of people saw that game, No they didn't, maybe not.
Northern Iowa is taking on at home in Cedar Falls
in the unidome Southern Utah University. It is seven nothing
in the beginning of the second quarter. Uh you and
I actually went up eight spots in the polls after
they're lost to Iowa State and uh yeah, so they're

(01:14:40):
on top of Southern Utah seven nothing. Now do you
know the Northern Iowa's mascot, Iowa Sam. It's a panther.
I don't know his nickname incorrect is they're not the
panthers Northern Iowa. Yeah, they're the silos. The Northern Iowa's
very good silos. It kind of sounds like cyclones. But
you got you managed to get the farm reference in.

(01:15:01):
They're very good, good, all right, the Northern Iowa. John
DearS reported, All right, let's go to Iowa State. They
are on a bye week, actually a very early bye week.
As you know, they survived you and i last week
in triple ot what I already mentioned. They prepare for
Iowa to visit next week. It's io ioas t You

(01:15:23):
can see that game on FS one. Actually, what a bummer.
They play the rivalry game early on in the season.
That's up they always do. Yeah, I mean, why not
do it later in the year. You know. The actually
time the only time that they did that was after
nine eleven. They had to move the game to the
end of the year and Iowa State won that game.
So Iowa State is idol. Forgotten about it though, but
at least you forgotten about it though. Yes, Iowa State

(01:15:43):
as idol. They prepared for Iowa And as we move
over to the hack Eyes there's two undefeated teams that yeah, absolutely,
don't worry. This is a totally He's got such an agenda,
like literally no energy for Northern Iowa and Iowa State.
But when it comes to the hack eyes, which by
the way, say that a play on the air, Iowa,
Sam's all over it. He's he's he can't get enough.
I'm giving up proper information here. It's been well over

(01:16:06):
a minute, so let me wrap this up. Iowa cruise
to a thirty to nothing win over Rutgers today. Iowa
had four hundred over four hundred yards of offense. Rutgers
had less than a hundred and fifty yards of offense.
It was a blood bath. Um yeah, not a very
good performance from Rutgers. Iowa just cruised alarm And that's
your inaugural Iowa minute. Well done. Look at that. That's

(01:16:29):
that's a stride. I tried. It's good. Listen. You you
broke it down. You broke it down, You gave out
all the pertinent information and you and you broke down
three schools there. I think a job well done. That.
David Gascon is a national update anchor here at Fox
Sports Radio. Gas what do you think of the Iowa minute.
I love it. Yeah. Like I said last week, this
is the most we've ever seen Iowa talk and embrace

(01:16:52):
a season of athletics, and it's right now at College
foot Well, of course I will say this much. Iowa's
two and all on the season sets such a good
of course it is the second the second day lose,
he'll look like Antonio Brown if he didn't get released
by the Raiders. I'll be pretty miserably, pretty miserable. What
do you think he would dip into the beer or
liquor when they do lose? God, um, where does he go? Both?

(01:17:16):
You know what he do? He go to a liquor
store and he'd buy one of those they'll sell like
like it's basically a glass full of tequila in the
shape of a handgun, and he would get one of those.
I'd tell you you can see those the liquor store.
I swear to god. They're right there, right next to
the right, next to the loaves. It's like some really

(01:17:36):
fancy tequila in a glass bottle shaped as a dust
on its lighter fluid it because nobody wants lighter fluid.
We'll tighten that up, we'll get it to be about
a minute. That was the first one I liked it.
Appreciate you guys, the Iowa minute. Um, all right, Bucky
Brooks Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio. So, Bucky Brooks,
the trade has been made. If you're the Oakland Raiders,

(01:17:59):
you're I'm just pretend you're John Gruden. That's a stretch
because you don't exactly operate the same way John Gruden does, wouldn't.
I actually think there's a rallying aspect to the Raiders
here that maybe they can rally around this and say,
you know what, this was a mess. We got the
guys that have been here all this offseason. We got
the guys that that that wanted to be here. This

(01:18:20):
guy has shown us multiple times on his social media
he didn't want to be here anymore. When it comes
to Antonio Brown, I can actually see the Raiders rallying
and playing pretty well on Monday Night Football. I think.
I think so? I really do he embarrassed the organization.
They welcomed him in with all the issues and all
the crap in. Antonio Brown embarrassed the organization even more.

(01:18:41):
And people could say whatever they want about John Gruden
and the Raiders got fleeced. I think that's crap. I
think the Raiders. Yeah, they gave up a third and
a fifth. They didn't have to pay him anything. They
tried it, it didn't work out, and they got out
of it without owing him a time. Yeah, they tried to.
Just it was unfortunately because this was the deal where
we thought it was gonna work out, because John Gruten
really liked the player, wanted it to work. It just
didn't work. Abe wasn't compliant, just didn't get it done.

(01:19:04):
And so, um, look, both parties move on, both parties.
May it maybe win win situation where a b gets
what he wants, goes to the Patriots. The Raiders continue
to build around the young core, and I just don't
think you can have a be acting the way he
acted around your young core because they're very impressionable. How
much how many more prime years does Antonio Brown have
as a receiver? I would say three or four? If

(01:19:25):
that three or four because he's thirty one years old.
Normally you can't he started phasing out. Yeah, thirty four
is yeah, he's but he's an incredible talent man. It's
for his size. Is he a Hall of Famer? Antonio
Brown depending if he fin if he finishes with no
more hiccups, which is a lot to ask. He's got
to be a Hall of Famer, right he might be,
But um, I don't know if he can go as
a one time because people are gonna hold, of course

(01:19:48):
Pittsburgh stuff against him. They're gonna hold this stuff against him.
So he's gonna have to be a model citizen to
be able to get it in all right. He's Bucky Brooks.
I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Trading. Coming up next,
we go live to Boston for insight on the new
England Patriots here on FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
So how did it get done? How did this deal

(01:20:08):
actually happen? We will have the latest on the Antonio
Brown bonanza that has been going on over the past
several days here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up here
in just a couple of moments. That guy over there's
Bucky Brooks. I am Jonas Knocks. This is Fox Sports Radio.
You can listen to the show on the I Heart
Radio app and wherever you are taking part in the program.

(01:20:29):
We always appreciate a few minutes of your time as
we come to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios were fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent
or more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for
a free rate quote. So we started the show and
we were gonna laugh and have some fun at the
expense of um, you know, Antonio Brown getting released by
the Oakland Raiders and all of that stuff that was

(01:20:50):
going on there. And then you had Jim Harbon Michigan
a took double overtime to beat Army. So we thought,
all right, we're gonna have a loaded show, and all
of a sudden, the Patriots swooped in. They signed Antonio
Brown to a one year deal or fifteen million dollars,
nine to ten million dollars of it guaranteed, And now
everybody is looking around going what the hell happened? So
that being said, we're gonna go live to Boston. Now.

(01:21:12):
Phil Perry joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. He
covers the Patriots for NBC Sports Boston. Uh, Phil, thanks
so much for the time. Jonas Knox, Bucky Brooks, How
did this actually happen? Isn't it incredible? You can just
never say never with this team. And I was talking
with As many people as possible inside the organization earlier

(01:21:34):
today about Antonio Brown and assuming we would be talking
about Antonio Brown on our pre and post game shows tomorrow,
whether he was here or not. I always approach any
sort of big name potential move. We just kicked this
around about a week or so ago when it was
reported that the Patriots were showing some interest in Lashawn McCoy.

(01:21:55):
And it seems crazy at the time because the Patriots
have a crazy deep running back group. But you just
can never say never with Bill Belichick when it comes
to talent acquisition. And that's even what people inside the
building we're saying. And I was told, listen, I have
no idea there's a high level executive inside the Patriots building.
I have no idea. There's only one guy in this

(01:22:16):
building who knows if we're actually interested in an It's
O'Neal Brown, and it's Bill Belichick. This is Bill Belichick
trying to improve a position that he has been trying
to improve. Now, Guys, for going on two years, between
Josh Gore and Eric Decker, Kenny Britt, they have been
doing anything and everything. They spent the first round pick
for the first time on a receiver, been doing everything

(01:22:36):
and anything to add talent at this position, and they
just added arguably a top three talent in the league
still at that spot. Phil Perry joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio. Phil, When when when you think about
just the culture in New England, how do you think
A B Is going to fit into that culture? Because
everyone believes that New England has buttoned up his detailed,

(01:22:57):
the structured, and A B looks nothing like that kind
of guy. You you couldn't envision a worse fit. I mean,
it's that bad. It's I mean, this guy is a
guy who it looks like from afar, both in Pittsburgh
and in Oakland, was to a certain extent until Oakland

(01:23:18):
finally put their foot down, allowed to do things the
way he wanted to do them. And that's just not
the way here in New England. And it's it's not
that way even with the guy who's arguably the greatest
player to ever do it, and Tom Brady, and it's
been the source of some consternation and it's been the
source of some frustration and some stress, uh between Brady

(01:23:42):
and Bill Belichick, because Brady is still one of fifty
three even in even in New England, where he's been
here for twenty years, and he's made the franchise billions
of dollars in value, uh and in six Super Bowl championships.
Tom Brady still gets chewed out in meetings, and he's
still expected to do every thing that everybody else in
the club is supposed to do. And so how is

(01:24:03):
a guy like Antonio Brown gonna fit? I imagine not
very well, but I would assume if it's such, if
it's such a mystic guys off the bat, I mean,
I'm fascinated to see what this contract looks like. Nine
million dollars signing botus. It seems like they're ready to
throw a pile of money at him right away, which
really blew me away. As much as they're always looking

(01:24:25):
to add talent, the figures financially are staggering because it
feels like, and who knows what the fine print of
the contract says, but it feels like, even if it
doesn't work out here, he's gonna walk away with about
nine million bucks. Those signing bonuses are hard to get back,
so that part of it is really a head scratcher
for me, knowing how Bill Belichick runs this operation and

(01:24:47):
knowing what we know about Antonio Brown. Phil Perry covers
the Patriots for NBC Sports Boston, joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio. I'm so glad you brought up the
contract because I could understand if it was, you know,
a minimum deal and hey, let's just take a flyer
out on a guy. These numbers aren't flyer type numbers.
Quote unquote this you know to your point, the nine
million dollars guaranteed. This feels like Belichick really sees big

(01:25:10):
things for Antonio Brown in this offense. From people you've
talked to in and around the Patriots, are they surprised
at the numbers that that were handed to Antonio Brown
here with this deal? Still trying to get reaction on
the numbers from some of those people in the building.
I would assume that there is some shock associated with
those figures, because you said it. When you look back

(01:25:33):
at some of the moves the Patriots, they've brought in
malcontents before and they've been able to make it work.
Look at how it works with Randy Moss, look at
how it worked with Corey Dillon. He didn't necessarily immediately
through all kind of the resources at these Randy Moss
in particular. I mean it's a it's a fourth round pick,
and eventually they signed them to a new contract, but
it costs them nothing to add Randy Moss. Corey Dillon

(01:25:56):
was a little bit more. I believe they gave away
a second round pick in that instance. Uh to give
away nine or ten million bucks guaranteed as as a
signing bonus, even if it's just a one year deal.
I understand you're not committing a lot in the length
of the contract, but financially for the Patriots, that's significant.
I mean, you're you're creeping up too. And this is guys,

(01:26:17):
This is something that the Patriots are well aware of.
They are constantly looking at contract values and then looking
at the locker room. They understand that the guys that
make up that locker room are human beings. And so
if things shift in a huge way where somebody all
of a sudden comes in on the eve of the
season and is one of the richest guys in the

(01:26:37):
locker room, having not spent a minute with the team
in the spring and training camp, having done nothing for
this organization, there might be guys who look at that sideways.
I think the Patriots are just assuming that, you know what,
with a lot of smart football players in our room
and a lot of guys who know just how talented
Antonio Brown is, and so this is what's quote unquote
best for the football team. That's what Bill Belichick always

(01:26:59):
relies upon, and that's why they made the move. You know,
I want I wanted to ask you something because I
think this is related. Jonas and I had talked about
um comparing this situation to the situation when chad Ocho
Sinko came over, very talented but more of a freestyle
player on the field. Does Antonio Brown's style fit how
the Patriots want to play. I'm fascinated to see how

(01:27:22):
that works as well, because when you look at what
he did against the Patriots, they gave him all kinds
of respect, as defenses did every single week, Bucky. I mean,
but you were looking at it was snap after snap,
third down in the red zone, doubling Antonio Brown double left, right,
and center. Didn't matter where he aligned on the field.

(01:27:42):
There was always extra attention thrown at that guy, regardless
of the other weapons on the field that Pittsburgh had
to offer. And so you know, there was a lot
of respect there. But how does he fit in the system.
How does he fit with Tom Brady who requires that
his receivers are at eight yards and coming back to
the football on certain routes, not seven and a half,

(01:28:03):
not eight and a half. He wants to know exactly
where those guys are going to be on the field
at all times. And that sort of thing starts early
in training camp with Brady and his receivers. We saw
a lot of that this year with his young receivers,
a lot of new faces out there on the field
that Jillett Stadium for camp, and Brady put as much
time in as possible during those summer practices because those

(01:28:24):
guys had no idea what he wanted and they weren't
ready for it early on. And it does take a while. Now,
will Antonio Brown be able to adjust to that more
quickly because of all his experience in the league, perhaps,
but entirely different offensive systems here in New England versus
what he was in in Pittsburgh. This is maybe the
most complicated offense in the league just because of the

(01:28:45):
breadth of it. I mean, this is an offense that
has been developed over twenty years with the same quarterback
in the same head coach and only a couple of
different offensive coordinators essentially, so there's gonna be a lot
on Antonio Brown's plate. Tom Brady is gonna be very
demanding of the guy, but he has been able to
make it work with superior talents immediately. I mean, we
mentioned Randy Moss earlier, but even last year with Josh Gordon,
they didn't throw everything at Josh Gordon. They weren't asking

(01:29:08):
him to run every route in the book, a lot
of slants, a lot of comeback, a lot of deep overs.
Maybe they just give Antonio Brown a handful of routes
and say, hey, master D's and we'll figure out the rest.
Phil Perry Patriots inside of NBC Sports Boston, joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio, Jonas knocks Bucky Brooks here
on FS are best guests because nobody really knows unless
you're actually in the room when the conversations are being had.

(01:29:30):
Do you think Belichick discussed this with Tom Brady with
Josh McDaniels or is this just a Belichick only move?
If you had to guess. If I had to guess,
I would say this is on Bill and Bill alone,
and he probably had the conversation with Spio, I would
imagine before making this deal. But there's a very good
relationship with through Eason House, Antonio Brown's agent and the team.

(01:29:52):
And so this is listen. There is one guy at
the top of the food chain here in New England
and he makes the calls and he's soliciting a lot
of input from anybody, even Tom Brady. Brady's been very
open about that in the past, that it's Bill Belichick
stops to put together the team. And I'm sure Brady
would love to have a little bit of input when
these sorts of big decisions are being made, but it's

(01:30:14):
just not the case here in New England. I think
there are other superstar quarterbacks across the league who will
get that sort of difference from whoever it is, whether
it's a head coach with a general manager, team president,
what have you, that are making these sorts of calls.
But here in New England it comes down to one guy,
and that one guy's Bill Belichick, and then everybody has
left to sort out whatever there is to sort out

(01:30:36):
after that move gets made. But it's a very small circle.
It's usually a one man circle here in New England.
Bill obviously has a ton of respect for Nikissaria and
what he does in terms of helping build that roster.
But I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't more than
two or three people in the building who were well
aware that this was happening before it happened. You know,
when you think about the last thing for me, when

(01:30:58):
you think about the chemistry and connection that Tom Brady
typically has with his wide receivers, how long do you
think it will take him to develop a rapport with
a by, especially if a b is one that comes
to as a Tennessee to play a little freestyle on
the field. Buy, I really feel like it could be
a while. I mean, listen again, that Brady is good

(01:31:19):
enough that he can make it work if he understands
where you're going to be. But that's a huge if.
If he's not sure that you're going to be at
the right depth on even a shallow cross, he's not
gonna feel confident giving it to you in traffic. And
Antonio Brown, we know what he brings to the table.
We know that even despite his frame, he's very good

(01:31:41):
in contest and catch situation. He's very good at making
things work even when he is covered, and a lot
of times he's not because he's still good at creating separation.
But how much trust can Tom Brady have in that
player when they've only had, say, going into week two,
they're going down to Miami, They're gonna play Brian Floras
and all of these other coaches, that new England system.
It's probably gonna be a hundred and twenty degrees twenty

(01:32:04):
degrees on the field Setriots always played miserably there as
it is. Is Tom Brady really going to trust him
on third and seven with two minutes left in the
game to keep a drive going when it's a one
score game. I doubt it, and all honesty, even if
it is Antonio Brown. I will say this, though, guys,
they have been so desperate to add receiver help that

(01:32:25):
Tom Brady, even without working with Antonio Brown at all,
is probably licking his chops to be able to work
with not just a pro caliber NFL receiver because the
Patriots have lacked those the last couple of years, but
one of the most talented plays Bradies generation. I'm feeling
Brady is dealing as though. Okay, as much as temistry matters,

(01:32:46):
even I will be able to figure out how to
make this thing work in the first month. Last one
for me for Phil Perry, Patriots Inside for NBC Sports
Boston here on Fox Sports Radio. So, Phil, just a
small conspiracy theory I want to throw at you. So
he's not going to be available for the Sunday night
game against his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, because because

(01:33:06):
he wasn't a member of the Patriots roster by four
pm Eastern time earlier today. I think that the deal
was already done, but that Bill Belichick intentionally waited to
complete the trade until after the four pm Eastern deadline,
because I don't think Bill Belichick wants to go into
that game with that drama on the field and Antonio
Brown trying to prove his former team wrong. Is that

(01:33:28):
a crazy conspiracy? It's not crazy, because we know Bill
Belichick is thinking about every single facet of a deal
like this, and he even he will consider the pr
ramifications and boy, okay, how are we going to deal
with the question beforehand or after the game or you know,
I would assume that, you know, if he was going

(01:33:50):
to play Sunday, we know he can't. You would see
some sort of statement almost from Bill Belichick trying to
nip it in the bud so that he wouldn't have
to answer questions about it after the game. Hunt As
it is Sunday night, he's gonna be there on the
podium Monday morning, he's gonna be there on a conference call.
He's gonna have to answer questions Brown. I would assume

(01:34:11):
that if it was actually done, he would be okay
with getting it done and getting this guy on the field, because, again, guys,
I can't emphasize this enough. The Patriots, I know, are
feeling like there are so many question marks at that
position that they are willing to go to great lengths
to add talent anyway they can at that position. I

(01:34:31):
think that would have even meant if they had had
it done soon enough that they would have tried to
get Antonio Brown in uniform Sunday night against the Steelers,
because they probably feel like even Antonio Brown, without a
single practice in the Patriots uniform, might have been better
than anything they had at the number he is. Phil
Perry covers the Patriots for NBC Sports Boston. Get him

(01:34:54):
on Twitter at Phil A Perry. Phil. We know it's
been crazy, uh morning into the afternoon here covering the
Patriots in the NFL with Antonio Brown. We really appreciate
you spending a few minutes with us here on Fox
Sports Radio anytime, guys, thanks so much for having me.
Jonas Knocks Bucky Brooks here on fs ARE. Yeah, it's
I mean, look, Phil Perry said it back. I mean,

(01:35:16):
this could possibly be the worst fit for Antonio Brown
going to the Patriots because, as you pointed out, it's
a really technical offense. Channel Josinko couldn't make it work,
and he was as talented as anybody in the league,
and so the question marks are still up in the air.
Everybody talking super Bowl, super Bowl automatically, We've got to
calm down here. There's still more to be seen, Yeah,

(01:35:36):
a lot more to be seen. Like here, here's the
problem with the Patriots offense and why it's so horrid
for even veteran receivers to go in and jump in it.
It is a system that requires some post snap reads,
meaning based on what the safeties do, what the corners do.
When you're running your route, it will change force you
to change your direction and what you're doing. So if

(01:35:57):
you're not on the same page, you can have these
stretches of ugly football where it just looks like you're
wasting time. Um with a B. He's outstanding catch and
run specialists. He's a former pump returner, which means that
he's terrificate the ball in his hands. I would look
for them to put him in the slot and allow
him to work. He really hasn't been a slow receiver

(01:36:18):
at any time during his career in Pittsburgh. New England
has a formula for producing these kind of guys that
play in the slot. I would think about putting him
in there and then letting him have an impact. He's
got the frame for it right. You can run fly sweeps,
he can run the bubbles, he can do all of

(01:36:39):
that stuff in getting space, and it's an easy way
to feed him a ton of receptions without even having
to do a lot. That's amazing, all right, Bucky Brooks
Jonas knocks here on Fox Sports Radio from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming up next year on fs ARE,
we may have identified the most motivated team the entire
weekend in the NFL. Don't go anywhere. We'll tell you
who that is. Next. On Fox Sports Radio. Farmers Insurance

(01:37:01):
knows the difference between a car hitting your bumper and
a clown car hitting your popper. That because at Farmers
we've seen him covered it were farmers under written. My
Farmers took fire insurance exchange' and affiliates prodcts un avlable
in every state. He is Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox.
This is Fox Sports Radio coming up in less than

(01:37:22):
ten minutes from now here. On Fox Sports Radio, We're
going to ask a former NFL quarterback his thoughts on
the news of the day. Antonio Brown released by the
Oakland Raiders early on Saturday, and just a few hours
later Antonio Brown now a member of the New England Patriots.
A one year deal worth up to fifteen million dollars

(01:37:44):
and depending on whose report you believe, anywhere between nine
to ten million dollars guaranteed. So Antonio Brown is now
headed new in New England, a member of the New
England Patriots. So a big day for Central Michigan altogether.
Antonio Brown is in the news. He goes to the
Patriots and Central Michigan, his former team, the Chippawas, are

(01:38:06):
only down fifty four nothing to Wisconsin. So so so huge,
huge day for Central Michigan. Um so all right, Uh
with that being said, I think that you are going
to have And even though he's not playing, Antonio Brown
will not be available for Sunday Night to play for

(01:38:26):
the New England Patriots. I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are
going to be as motivated as they will be the
entire season when they take the field on Sunday Night
against the New England Patriots. I think so, um, They've
been here on all sorts of crap. He's taken shots
at not only Mike Tomlin, but Ben Roethlisberger, Juju Smith, Schuster,
all of it. I think the Steelers are gonna be

(01:38:48):
fired up. And I actually like the Steelers a lot
in that game. My issue with the steel is it's
just a bad matchup. Typically when it comes to their
defensive philosophy, the Patriots just will go empty and spread
them out. And eleven and three against the Steelers, I
think in his career, he gets the ball out, he
gets the ball out quick. In the Patriots, I mean

(01:39:11):
Stillers were typically a team that refused to play a
lot of man man coverage. So I just wondered, Yeah,
and so you think it might be just a bad
matchup all the way around. Yeah, Um, now listen, I'm
just trying to find a bright spot for Gavin Kinsell,
who has the pits? What do you have? Gavin our
executive producer, also a degenerate gambler at night? Who do

(01:39:32):
what do you have? Steelers plus five and a half
And that line will stay because AB is not playing.
Yeah nice, So so Gavin Kinsell is a sweating out
that game. And I was trying to find a bright
spot there for Gavin and his Steelers plus five and
a half. Now, one thing that you did mention you're
you're as good at this as anybody when it comes
to why certain schemes work and what do they you know,

(01:39:53):
what do they see? Because a lot of people can
talk over our heads, and for people listening, they get
confused in the numbers and while the all tur the
twos and this and this coverage and this package. You
talked about, um a little bit ago about Antonio Brown
and why with the Patriots they do something different. How
the Patriots it's all about adjusting to what the coverage

(01:40:15):
is in the route, so you take off from the
line of scrimmage, being able to identify what coverage you're
seeing and where you need to be to adjust to
that coverage. How is that different from what the Steelers
have done and the systems Antonio Brown has grown up
and in the NFL in Pittsburgh. Well, it's just a
little different because it puts a lot on the wide
receiver to be able to kind of red things on

(01:40:36):
the fly. Meaning, um, if you can imagine running down
the field looking and seeing how the coverage is changing,
and based on how they change or move, I adjust
what I may be intended to do. So for instance,
I may have a curl route on me and I'm
gonna go down to twelve yards and I'm gonna turn
around and come back to the quarterback. But as I'm
moving in the air, I see someone inside of me blitz.

(01:40:58):
So because of the blitz, I break my route off
and run a slant. It just requires a level of
awareness on the run that you typically don't see, uh
from some NFL systems. Also in Pittsburgh, frequently I felt
like a b would just abandon his designated route and

(01:41:19):
kind of freelance and do his own thing. Oh I
see it. I saw the middle of field open, so
I just take off and I run. And so that's
fine in their system because like that's kind of how
they play, but everyone doesn't operate like that. Some offensive
coordinators like a little more structure in details so they
can control the pieces on the chessboard, uh, whereas others don't.

(01:41:39):
And so he just has to conform and make sure
that he is on the same page with number twelve
at all times because if he kind of gets out
of sync, if he's not at the right spot and
it leads to it an interception or pick six, Tom
Brady is not going to be happy. And look, it's
not even just Chadow Chosenko who didn't work out in
New England, who went over there, and and Belichick loved

(01:42:00):
at Sinco like he when they played against me, showed
him nothing but respect. There's even a funny clip to
where Belichick is telling Chad I'm gonna double team you
today and Chad's begging him not to and say no, no,
I'm not letting you beat us, and he's begging him.
And so it's not just remember Reggie Wayne, Reggie Wayne
went over the Patriots. He didn't he was there what
an hour and a half and it was done like they.

(01:42:21):
I think guys just find out that it's completely different
than what they were used to in other places. And
I think so while everybody's talking. And look, the betting
odds have already changed. It went from the Chiefs in
some places that were the Super Bowl favorites after the trade,
the Patriots are now the super Bowl favorites. Calm down, everybody.
What Bucky Brooks is telling you is it's not the

(01:42:42):
easiest system to just walk in. And but I will
also say this about the pages in Belichick. What he's
been known to do is take what you do will
and only ask you to do those things. So he
may very well be like, you know what, maybe don't
worry about learning the entire offense. We're going to create
a package for when you're on the field. You're only

(01:43:04):
going to run these things, know these things, and we
will work around that part of That's what they've done.
That's what they did with Josh Gordon initially when he
came in. It could be the way that they just, hey, look,
don't don't worry about getting him to learn the entire offense.
Let's just give him a part of the offense, a
small menu and allow him to work off that so
we can have success. No one thing that I would

(01:43:29):
say about a B when you look at some of
the guys that have had success there, those slot receivers
um a lot of quick screens, a lot of short
crossing routes, UM, a lot of things designed to get
the ball in their hands right away. That is something
that AB should be able to kill, like because he's
a former punt returner. And just know all of the guys,
the little guys that have thrived there, Wes Welker, Troy Brown,

(01:43:52):
Julian Edelman, on and on, and they all were former
punt returners. And the reason why you want punt returners
sometimes in the slot, they're very comfortable with the ball
in their hands. They can take advantage of Antonio Brown's
running skills and allow him to create explosive plays by
throwing him short passes and allow him to wiggle in space.

(01:44:14):
He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next, a former NFL quarterback tells you his
thoughts on the major move in the NFL, Antonio Brown
to the New England Patriots. That's next year on fs
ARE for all the latest though the gash Man David Gascon,
Are you sure we're getting to that, guest, because your
executive producer was asking me if I can give him

(01:44:34):
some pointers on craps as he's heading he's got an issue. Look,
I mean, look, you can do your best, but occasionally
you're gonna walk with somebody who's got a little bit
of an issue near a liquor store and it's up
to them whether or not they can control their habits,
all right, and Gavin just can't control his betting habits
he's got, I mean, he's just got a reason to

(01:44:54):
burn through money, right, it's blackjack, craps, gamble, young college football,
w w E. But he grew up wealthy. That's what
happens Orange counting it. It's Gavin Kinsel right there, guys.
Let's start things off from the National Football League. Antonio
Brown's got a new home. Less than twenty four hours
after he was released from the Oakland Raiders, signs a
one year deal with the New England Patriots worth fifteen

(01:45:16):
million dollars. Nine of that will be guaranteed. Julio Jones
also get himself paid as well a three year extension
with the Atlanta where sixty six million dollars sixty four
that guaranteed at the point of signing, So good on him.
In college football, Number one Clemson is slapping around Texas
A and M twenty four to three Trevor Lawrence twenty
three or thirty three for two forty three yards and

(01:45:38):
two scores. Alabama sixty two New Mexico State seven. Is
a big schedule for Alabama this season. In the look
at that they beat Duke last week, they got New
Mexico State Southern miss in two weeks. They also have
Western Carolina November twenty three before the Iron Bowl against
number ten Aubren. Yeah, they certainly did. Meanwhile, the scores

(01:46:00):
from around college football Wisconsin sixty one nothing over Central
Michigan a good one on Fox. Number twenty five Nebraska
had a big lead seventeen nothing over Colorado it's now
midway through the fourth quarter, and number three Georgia Leady
Murray State to seventeen. Earlier today, Michigan escapes in double overtime.

(01:46:20):
They beat Army twenty four to one, bat to Jonas
Knox and Bucky Brooks in just ten seconds. But first,
a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance We know there's
a crucial difference between a kick drum pedal and your
car's accelerator pedal because at Farmers we've seen and covered it.
We are Farmers under written. My Farmers truck fire insurance

(01:46:41):
exchange avaiable in every state. Jonas, I also found out
your executive producer is flying a private jet and is
not paying for his hotel room. Must be nice, none
of that, it's true. Oh my god, Orange County kidnap
should have guest, private jet and free hotel room. Are
you sure you work in radio? All right? All right,

(01:47:03):
Jonas Stocks, Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio, coming
up a little over ten minutes from now here on
fs ARE, somebody on the show is gonna try and
get us fired, so make sure you stick around for
that right now, though he's one of our favorites. Former
NFL quarterback now an analyst for Pro Football Focus, Bruce
Gradkowski joining us here on fs ARE. Bruce, I mean
sorry to drag you on, man with nothing going on

(01:47:24):
in the NFL. Our apologies. Oh man, guys, the last
two days have been beautiful. It's like a soap opera. Now, okay,
how first of all, how surprised, are you that Antonio
Brown is now a Patriot? And how do you see
it working in New England with Antonio Brown? Wow? Well,
I'm not surprised he's a Patriot, just because that's the Belichick,

(01:47:44):
the New England way. They just let guys pull off
other places, get them for the cheap, and bring them over.
And the greatest thing about it, guys is, I'm at
a wedding in Pittsburgh this weekend, so I'm around all
my cousins of family, huge Stealer fans, and they are
so mad the Patriots. So it's so funny to see. Uh.

(01:48:08):
But you know, when I think about a b going
to New England, you know, I think about a few things.
You know. I was kind of concerned they'd be missing
so much practice time during camp because Ab is a
practice guy. He practices like he played and he needs it.
Well with him going to New England, I think of
a few things. How long is it gonna take him
the grass of the offense. They're gonna have to dumb

(01:48:28):
it down a little bit, give him his packages. And also,
if you think about it, Tom Brady weekend and week out,
how many times did he have a number one receiver
every week. I mean, besides Gronk. You know Edelman, yes, sometimes,
but it's not like Edelman every single week. So can
a B be that team player with Josh Gordon, with Edelman?

(01:48:50):
The ball is gonna get spread around. And I also
look at the way Tom Brady is. I mean, don't underestimate,
don't overestimate how much backyard football an off script a
B is, you know, And I felt like when I
see all this go down and I see him get
released by the Raiders, my first initial thought was he
had a perfect set up in Pittsburgh. He had a

(01:49:12):
head coach that was laid back, had a great atmosphere,
was fun to go to work. He had the quarterback
that understood how to play backyard football just like a
B does. And now he's going to an organization and
the Patriots that are more structured than anyone. So I'm
so interested to see how this pans out. You know,

(01:49:32):
Bruce is something It's funny that you brought that up
about how much backyard football he played. Anyone that really
watched and play at Pittsburgh understands that. And when you
look at the Patriots, the Patriots are very structured in detailed,
the side adjustments and all the stuff. I don't know
because you've been there with A B. Is he a
guy that can conform to being a little more structured

(01:49:53):
in detailed in his play or is he a guy
that has to play street ball on grass to be successful? Man?
I think Bucky, I think he's a street ball player.
I mean, I think who'll try to conform to that structure,
but he reacts to what he feels in season the game.
I mean, so many times I'm backing up Big Ben
in Pittsburgh and A B is supposed to have a

(01:50:15):
five yard under route, and you never let the cornerback
cut you off. You always have to go underneath the corner. Well,
the corner starts to cut him off, A B puts
a foot in the ground, puts his hand up and
runs a go. Well Ben hits him. It's like a
six yard test out pass. And I'm just shaking my
head on the silad. Everyone's screaming, cheering, and I'm like,

(01:50:36):
oh my gosh, I would have just thrown a pick
six right there. So for Ben and A B, they
just had that chemistry, you know. So so I'm just
interested because Tom Brady Man. You know how it is.
He wants to stand up pocket. He wants to trust
that his guys are gonna be where they're supposed to
at the right time. The Rite debt, and he's built

(01:50:57):
so much camaraderie with Edelman over the years that that's
his you know, comfort zone, that's his covert blanket. So
I just want to see if Abe, though, can be
a team player, if he could show up on time. Look,
it's gonna be miserable for him going to work every day.
I'm just being honest. Friends that have played for New
England and it's not fun to go and work every day,

(01:51:18):
but you're gonna win. Bruce Gradkowski joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio, former NFL quarterback, also an analyst for
Pro Football Focus, joining Bucky Brooks and myself Jonas Knox
here on FS are Bruce, So, you were a former
teammate of Antonio Brown. You saw him early on in
his career. Um, you mentioned New England's not the most
fun place to play. Um, what did you see in

(01:51:41):
Pittsburgh when it came to Antonio Brown and behavior and
off the field That would be a little bit troublesome
if you were a member of the Patriots organization. Well,
the first thing I'll say, like, as I was thinking
about this last few days and even today, you know, honestly,
I was kind of sad at the situation because Abe
is a fun loving I mean he's he's one of
the hardest workers you'll ever be around. He puts it

(01:52:04):
in every day when he's on the field, and like
his personality is, you know, very attractable and you want
to be around him. And that's why you sold the
Raiders players have his back. Multiple times. You saw the
Raiders turn their head and try to make it work.
So you have that side of A B that guys
truly do like him. I mean, he's a good guy.

(01:52:24):
But then you have the side that becomes a competitive side,
the it's all for me side, I need to get mine.
And then you see that and and for the Patriots
the way they win and they win as a team,
and the way Belichick is even Belichick will stand up
there and hold his his quarterback accountable. You know, who's
who's the best quarterback player to ever play the game,

(01:52:45):
and um and A B doesn't have a problem with
that in meetings being called out and how held accountable.
But it's just the standpoint of if they if the
Patriots win and A B has zero targets and zero catches,
how is he going to be in the locker? Everyone
else is gonna be fired up because they just you know,
one on Sunday night against the Steelers to make it

(01:53:06):
to the playoffs. But then A B is gonna be like, well,
I didn't get my catches, I don't get my yards,
I didn't get my touch out. I've seen it and
witness sit on the sideline. So for me, I hope
I see a be conformed to this team atmosphere and
you know, conformed with the structure they have, because, like
I said to A B, personalities, A fun love with guy,
been around them, Um, so he's fun to be around

(01:53:27):
if he has the right mindset, you know. And thinking
about that mindset, I kind of want to go back
to his style of play. We talked about it being
so sand lot and freestyle. The one thing that the
Patriots will do is they will run option routes. We've
seen them for years do things with Julian Edelman over
the middle of the field where he'll run jerk routes
and the like. How do you think a B will

(01:53:49):
be in a situation if they put a package around
him where they give him option routes and he is
able to kind of freely move over the middle of
the field. Yeah, I think that's one thing Josh McDaniels
does a great job. I mean, he'll have a package
and he'll get a B some great mismatches in the
middle of the field. And that's where a B is
great is abes, you know, quick movements. He can separate,

(01:54:12):
you know. You know, I was talking to a cousin
in the wedding and it's so funny man this year
and how mad they are. But like, you know, Randy
Moss did a good job, you know, and I'm like, yeah,
but he's not Randy Moss. He's not your deep target
down field that you want to run a go or
post and throw it up to him. A B is
better at separating the big end routes, so comeback to
the out route even in the middle of field. Bucky.

(01:54:35):
I kind of worried sometimes that he doesn't understand like
angles in the sense that um, he might do his
own thing too much and it might be uncomfortable for Brady.
But he definitely has that quick twitch and the separation
ability that he would kill the inside versus linebackers. Last
one for Bruce Gradkowski here on Fox Sports Radio, former

(01:54:56):
NFL quarterback, also an analyst for Pro Football Focus here
on Fox Sports Radio. Former he made of Antonio Brown,
you mentioned, um, you've you've been on the sidelines when
you've seen the outburst for not getting the football or
not getting his numbers and all of that. Is Antonio
Brown worth the trouble as a player from what he
potentially could bring as far as damaging the locker room
there in New England. Well, I think, I mean, look,

(01:55:18):
we see it all the time. If if you've got
the talent, you're going to get multiple opportunities. And A
B does have the talent. And like I said to
A B is he's a good guy in a sense,
like I've known the A B that you like to
be around. So it's how he adapts there. I mean,
I think it's worth a shot, especially a coach like

(01:55:38):
Bill Belichick that his build, you know, such a great
reputation is the Patriots way over there, and we'll see
if he can you know, conformed to their ways. Because
I'll tell you what you don't show up late to
meetings in New England, and that that doesn't fly okay
with Belichick. So and I think that's just what Tomlin
did such a good job at in Pittsburgh. And think, look,

(01:56:00):
we're in the results business, and it's about winning games,
and sometimes you have to put up with something and
you have to get your best players to Sundays. And
that's what Toma did so well for so long in Pittsburgh,
getting big Bum Antonio Brown, Levy on Bell, getting them
to Sunday's performing winning games and and heading back home
and prepare for the next week. And I believe that

(01:56:22):
it's more than next as the os, it's how do
you get the best out of your players. So we'll
see Belichick and do that with with Antonio Brown, and
I'm super interested to watch it. And it's probably the
best soap opera to start the year for sure, no kidding.
Bruce Gradkowski former NFL quarterback also an analyst for Pro
Football Focus. You can get him on Twitter at b
Gradkowski five. Bruce, thanks so much as always, man, We'll

(01:56:45):
do it again next week. Yeah, thanks, guys, have a
good week up. Jonas knocks Bucky Brooks here on Fox
Sports Radio. Coming up next, somebody on the show is
going to try and get us fired. Here on fs
are Farmers Insurance knows the difference between a car hitting
your bumper and a clown car. Here about that, because
at Farmers we've seen him covered. Its under written my

(01:57:07):
Farmers rock Fire insurance exchange that affiliates products unavailable in
every state. Jannah snocks Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up top the next hour, more on the Blockbuster.
Antonio Brown move and now I member of the New
England Patriots. But right now here on Fox Sports Radio,
it's time for a little something we do on the
show called this he only fights the best stories. I

(01:57:30):
got a news flash the Cutter with David gag all right,
David gascon us here to try and get everybody fired
here at the network. Go ahead, Dave, what do we got?
Master things? They're a little table. Stir things off? First?
What a burger you guys are eating there? No, I haven't.

(01:57:50):
I've been. I've been to parking lot, but I was like,
I'm good in the market lot. Honestly, you got to
the parking lot. He's not like you're on a blind date. Well,
let me how she looks, and then you just drive off.
He goes through like the was like, I'm good, go
down the street to white Cows. I'll go to Wendy's

(01:58:11):
to get chili. Who needs all good? I bring that
up because this um a post on Facebook went't viral.
It has one point four million views in less than
twenty four hours, and it was shared more than fifty times.
What was it? Well, apparently some customers of water Burger
witnessed staff actually chasing around a mouse. Um it was

(01:58:36):
horrific because the mouse was running away and it appeared
to actually dive headfirst into the deep friar. Oh my god,
Oh I mean that's why. That's probably why I stayed
deep friar. Don't rescue me. I'm gonna just jump right
into this grease spot all right. So basically, who needs
like a Better Business Bureau or ABC or whoever does

(01:58:58):
those reviews her restaurants just have sucky take a look
at the parking lot and determine whether or not he
wants to eat there. So apparently you were what a
what a black eye for what a burger? Honestly, they
said we closed the restaurant out of an abundance of
caution and notified pest control. I mean, well, yeah, you've
got the like an hour and a half, like a

(01:59:22):
sewer rat pops out of the the soda fountain. Got
this red. It's good. That's good. Most of you guys
have ever paid for an alcoholic beverage or a dinner?
I'm sorry, dad, one more time? Like all a cart? Wise,
what's the most you guys have ever paid for all
a cart item or a piece of alcohol? I don't

(01:59:46):
know because I'm only really a beer drinker, so I
don't really I've never I've never done anything crazy. Um, alright,
food item, food item? Maybe maybe whatever? Yeah, something like that.
Sixty bucks for a steak? Okay, how about this? An
Australian jur analist was accidentally charged from his hotel a beer.
They charged him sixty seven thousand dollars for a six

(02:00:07):
dollars and seventy six beer six dollars and six cents.
Beer guy woke up one morning, saw his tabs to
see this beer. It's the most expensive beer in history.
The hotel and charged him sixty seven thousand dollars and
he grew him on the card. And I went through
good for him, I'll never know that feeling. By the way,
we do have that same Australian. Uh he actually had

(02:00:30):
some comments on the mouse that jumped into the deep prior.
What a burger here he was earlier today there it
is so more more coming up next year on Fox
Sports Radio. Don't listening, no Fox Sports Radio, no big deal,
Just a quiet day around the world of football on

(02:00:52):
a Saturday, Bucky Brooks. I mean nothing going on. I
mean just some football set. Doesn't look how the right
and listen what we're doing. We're watching a great game.
We got Nebraska and Colorado. Nebraska, for some reason, is
twenty five in the country. I have no idea. I'm
not really sure how they earned that after what losing

(02:01:13):
their first seven or eight games a year ago. But
year and it's Scott first and it's Scott Frost, and
so the agendas are out in full force when it
comes to the ap top twenty five. Uh so on
Nebraska is leading Colorado a minute under a minute and
a half ago, a former Big Twelve battle. You know what,
I wish they would go back to this. Nebraska Colorado

(02:01:36):
was always awesome to watch in the Big Twelve. Remember
some of those games when you had was Michael Westbrook
and Cordell Stewart and Eric b Enemy uh Colorado Buffaloes
and they won a national title from the mistakes. Yeah,
damn good team in Boulder. By the way, in Boulder,
a lot of a lot of the hippie lettuce, you

(02:01:58):
know what I mean? The uh you know, a lot
of people walk in the green wolf in h in
Boulder from what I hear. But nonetheless, Bucky Brooks, we
were company Alive from the Geico Fox Sports radio studios
where fifteen minutes could save you fift more on car insurance.
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote. So

(02:02:20):
we went on the air and we thought, all right,
let's open up because we're definitely gonna get to another story,
but let's open up with Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines,
because I mean, everybody was out pitchforks in hand. They
were ready to call for Jim Harbaugh. That's why we
say he's overrated. That's why we've been telling everybody he's
a bust as a as a head coach in Michigan.

(02:02:42):
Jim Harbon Michigan struggle at Home in Ann Arbor against Army,
it goes double overtime, a strip sack finishes the game
and Michigan gets the win and survives a game against Army, now,
the same Army team who gave Oklahoma all they could
handle a year ago on the road, but Army again
and comes up short to Michigan. And so we thought,

(02:03:02):
all right, what's what we're gonna do. We're gonna hear
from all the Jim Harbor haters are going to rip
him to pieces. And I know Jim Harbor is probably
thinking to himself, right here we go, Here we go,
we survive, but I know I'm when I'm here from
a bunch of people. And then all of a sudden, Uh,
the Oakland Raiders decide, you know, we don't want anything
to do with Antonio Brown, and so we were, okay,
we're definitely gonna get to that. But then Antonio Brown decided,

(02:03:22):
you know what, why don't we go ahead and why
don't we release the video of me being released? This
was Antonio Brown earlier today via his social media. He
let me see look at sod FuG Let's go there girl,

(02:04:07):
you know, for a guy who was on the masked
singer Um he's got a horrendous singing voice. It is
not good at all, voice cracking, all of that stuff.
But nonetheless, he probably didn't He probably didn't drink a
little lemon tea, didn't have hot tea before he was like, oh,
I'm gonna record his video. Didn't prepare And let me
tell you this though. I mean, when people tell you
drink hot tea like, it's actually that's actually not what

(02:04:29):
you should do it. As being a former singer, I
can tell you you want room temperature water. You don't
want to shock your vocal cords. You want room temperature
water to warm water. So that way it loosens everything
up and it doesn't shock you. That's why when people
are out there doing an interview and they're in the cold, uh,
it sounds like they've got a mouthful of Quicksand it's
because they can't really find their voice. It's just it's

(02:04:51):
it's it's very weird. But Antonio Brown was thrilled, all right.
So he gets released by the Oakland Raiders, and now
the big speculation goes on, where's he gonna sign, where's
Antonio Brown I'm gonna sign? And lo and behold, who
swoops in and gives him a one year deal for
up to fifteen million dollars and ten million dollars in
guarantees guarantee ten million. Nobody other than Bill Belichick and

(02:05:14):
the New England Patriots, and so Antonio Brown is now
a Patriot. So in a roundabout way, he found one
of the only quarterbacks in the NFL who's better than
the quarterback that he just left. It just took a
complete fiasco and his feet almost melting off in a
cryo chamber to get there. But Antonio Brown's now remember
the New England Patriots, Bucky Brooks. Look, somehow we got here.

(02:05:37):
Didn't know it would it would be possible. But look,
Bill Belichick will look fine players, He'll turn over every rock.
He'll give everyone an opportunity. He'll look for guys, especially
at wide receiver Gas who he has her minisus amount
of respect for based on how he gained planned against him.
If you go all the way back and look at
how the Pittsburgh still is in the New England pages

(02:05:59):
have massed up in what Patriots have done traditionally, double
cover him, put someone else on the number one. That's
how much respect that he had form now what he
would try to do is attempt to build a package
around some of the things that he can do, while
also encouraging him to learn this offense. But one way
or another, he's gonna be on the field. He's gonna

(02:06:19):
be a factor. And this Patriots receiving corps because I
remember Josh Gordon. Uh, they got to Marius Thomas. Then
they have a b um. They have a first round
picking to kill Harry. They have a lot of weapons,
a lot of older weapons, guys who understand a lot
of football. This should be a very very exciting unit
to watch grow with with Tom Brady at him. And

(02:06:41):
now there is an interesting element to this because some
of the odds changed immediately. So thus U Kansas City
Chiefs were the favorites to win the Super Bowl. The
trade was made, and there were reports that in some
sports books the Patriots now became the favorites. Um, you
talked about it just from a schematic standpoint. Let's let's
slow it down just a little bit here. The Patriots

(02:07:03):
offense is a different offense. And you talked about Shadoo
Sinko and the trouble he's had. He had when he
went to the Patriots based on where he came from.
Talented wide receiver could make all the grabs in the world,
but that offense is a different beast when it comes
to being able to read coverages. Different beasts because you're
required to play instructure, You're you're required to be at

(02:07:24):
a certain spot at a certain time, so the quarterback
can count independ on you. Shadoo Sinko a B. They're
guys who are more feel by field players. Oh, I
feel like he say he's going, I'm gonna keep it up.
That's safety, is backing up, I'm gonna sitting down. All
of those things aren't conducive to a quarterback. Kind of

(02:07:45):
mustling up high, complete percentage, stringing, it passes all those
other things. So it'll be interesting to see how it
plays out with a B. Canny kind of modify his
game to be a better fit for what they want
to do offensively. Now from a scheme standpoint, they're still
gonna be some questions there, although he's a really, really
talented player, obviously in a potential Hall of Famer. We

(02:08:05):
talked to former Antonio Brown teammate Bruce Bradkowski joined us
earlier in the show. Former quarterback for the Steelers. He
also talked about what may become an issue in New
England when it comes to Antonio Brown. If the Patriots
win and A B has zero targets and zero catches,
how's he going to be in the locker? Everyone else

(02:08:25):
is gonna be firing up because they just you know,
one on Sunday night against the Steelers to make it
to the playoffs. But then A B is gonna be like,
why didn't get my catches? I don't get my guards,
I didn't get my touch out. I've seen it and
witnessed it on the sidelines, and that's probably not the
right sideline you want to be on when you're bitching
about how what your numbers are and when and you're
winning games. I mean, I'm I'm gonna say this. All

(02:08:48):
those guys do it. They all complained, they they're all
look look they they they all do it. It's kind
of part of the job description. When you sign up
in Little league to play why receiver, one of the
things that you have to agree to is I I'm
going to be a guy that has to touch the
ball and I'm going to complain or sulk or pout

(02:09:09):
if it doesn't go my way. So you have a
couple of different options how you can voice or display
your displeasure with not touching the ball enough most of
them pout. However, he's not gonna be able to do
all that crazy stuff that he was doing in Pittsburgh,
slamming water coolers and water buckets and kicking and all that,
because the one thing that he will quickly find out

(02:09:31):
is Tom Brady. There's the other guys, and you're not
gonna show up Tom Brady because Tom Brady to get
you about it. I mean, look, let's just be honest here.
If this works and if they're able to quote unquote
tame the beast that is Antonio Brown and his ego,
I mean, there's nothing that this organization can't do. I mean,

(02:09:52):
just think about it this way. Um, they got Aaron
Hernandez a touchdown in a Super Bowl. They got they
got a mass murder a touchdown in a Super I
mean they didn't they didn't know he was a mass murderer.
I mean, I mean they didn't know. This This is before,
like this is free not post. It was like they
were like, oh come here, I got I got some

(02:10:12):
new stuff for you. After the fact, there's not a
lot of organizations in the NFL who can say, by
the way, a guy who scored a touchdown in the
Super Bowl for US also shot somebody in the face. Like,
there's not a lot of organizations in the NFL that
can say that. The Patriots can. So if there's any
organization that is you, that is dealt with a lot
of personality, it is the Patriots. But I don't know

(02:10:33):
if they've dealt with this kind of ego. I think
he's worse than Randy Moss here. Whatever you want about
Randy Moss and his transgressions in Minnesota and Oakland and
all that, he was nowhere close different types. But remember
Randy was very, very shaky and flaky Um during his
time he was a talented player like Burst on the scene,

(02:10:54):
but at the end of his tenure with the Vikings,
he was kind of a a guy that was kind
of loose when it came to destruction the discipline in
Oakland with the Raiders, he was gonna loose with the
structure and the discipline. Um didn't put up the numbers.
And one thing that you always know is you go
from not producing in Oakland to all of a sudden man,
the ball just kind of finds me. I go back.

(02:11:15):
He puts up a historic season and they run off
with it. Abe is a different type. Similar issues in
some regards, but different type. Um. He has to be
a guy that really chokes down. UM. And it's about
the team. We never saw Randy have an outburst in
New England about not touching the rock or whatever, even

(02:11:36):
though he would really admit to saying, man, thing's not
gonna win. They don't run it through me. And now
and and this is just me being you studying the NFL,
you break down tape, You've been a scout. You know offenses,
defense as well as anybody there is on on on
NFL college football, on radio, television, anywhere. To the to

(02:11:58):
the untrained eye, it would seem that Randy Moss had
less of a learning curve than Antonio Brown had because
you could use Randy Moss to run vertically and he
could just beat guys down the field, as opposed to
an Antonio Brown, who's gonna be put in different positions
to try and adjust to what's out there and guarding
against him. Yeah, they're different players. And also I want

(02:12:20):
everyone to understand a B is more quick than fast.
This means that he's not the burner that uh you'll
see on the perimeter in terms of just straight speed.
He's not a Deshaun Jackson where he just blows past everybody.
A lot of what he does is short burst explosiveness
to create separation. Um. He is a terrific runner after

(02:12:42):
the catch, which is why you want to get him
the ball on the move, crossing routes, quick screens, little
things that allow him that enabled him to be the
punt returner in space. He is terrific in those regards.
In terms of as a polished robber. And he has
some stuff now, he got all the tricks, um everything,
every every tool in the toolbox he has. However, in

(02:13:05):
this system, it doesn't allow for a lot of uh
sauce on the route. I mean you get in and
get out we talked about as a route running. You
have an opportunity to go to Basket Robbins. When I
go to basketb Robbins, look, I just want you to
have vanilla ice cream. I don't want to sprinkles and
the gummy bears and the worms and the crushed oreos

(02:13:27):
and all that. Just so with Tom Brady, it's a
timing deal. Vanilla ice cream, Get in, get out, get open,
get the ball, make it happen. Can't do all the
other stuff. Can be an and one mix tape. It's
not gonna work for him and one mix tape out there.
Bruce Grabkowski also talked with US earlier, former teammate of

(02:13:48):
Antonio Brown's guy who played in the league a long time. Um,
just what else might be a little bit of an
issue for a b as he had to New England,
the Patriots way over there, and we'll see if he can,
you know, form to their ways, because I'll tell you what,
you don't show up late to meetings in New England
and that that doesn't fly okay with Belichick, and I
believe that it's more than next as it's how do

(02:14:10):
you get the best side of your players. So we'll
see Belichick and do that with with Antonio Brown. I'm
super interested to watch it. And look, that was one
of the stories that came out upon leaving the Raiders
that one of his fines was the fact that he
missed a walkthrough in Canada before the game. So they
had the game in Canada in Winnipeg against the packers

(02:14:32):
and Antonio Brown missed a walk through like you were
in the country. Why didn't you just go? You do
that with New England. That's a wrap, that's stuff to do.
I mean, I get it. There's a lot to do. Yeah,
I mean, look, there's a lot of things to do
in Winnipeg. I mean you go to Tim Horton's. I
don't know if there's a hockey game going here here
to have good kill and spinish selling? Do they do they?

(02:14:53):
Have you heard that about Winnipeg? I have not aware
kicking hacky sacks around something that Nirvana this little sublime
while they but now, I mean, look, it's gonna be
fun to watch. But I also think Antonio Brown has
has sort of walked a fine line with Pittsburgh obviously

(02:15:15):
with Oakland, and Belichick is not gonna put up with
that crap, whether or not he gave him a guaranteed
money or not. Belichick is not gonna put up with
a guy who just decides he doesn't want to show
up to practice on time. He his work ethic has
never been in question. You talked to anybody, hardest working
guy they've ever seen, like, no doubt about it. It
just depends on what he gets there. Like, that's the

(02:15:36):
only problem, And I just wonder how that plays out
with Belichick in that locker room. That's my only issue. Um. Alright,
So Bucky Brooks Jonas snocks here on Fox Sports Radio.
Check out the show on the I Heart Radio app.
All right, coming up next, we are going to find out, um,
why there is somebody in the NFL and potentially college

(02:15:57):
football who also deserves some of the blame when it
comes to Antonio Brown. Find out what it is next
on Fox Sports Radio. At Farmers Insurance, we know there's
a crucial difference between a kick drum pedal and your
car's accelerator pedal because at Farmers we've seen and covered it.
We are Farmers under written my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance

(02:16:19):
Exchange and affiliates proucts un avlable in every state. He's
Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.
You can always listen to the show on the I
Heart Radio app. Coming up less than ten minutes from
now here on fs ARE we will have the scraps
as we get to some things in the world of sports.
We have not had a chance to touch on. So
we'll have that for you here less than ten minutes

(02:16:40):
from now. Obviously, the big news of the day, Antonio
Brown is now a New England Patriot a B, signing
a one year deal worth up to fifteen million dollars
ten million dollars in guarantees. That according to Adam Schefter
and others on the story. This after Antonio Brown no
longer remember the Oakland Raiders they asked to be He

(02:17:00):
asked for a release earlier on Saturday after a video
and an argument and calling Mike Mayak and name and
threatening to punch him and all that stuff. So Antonio
Brown is now done with the Oakland Raiders. Now he's
a member of the New England Patriots. So a little
bit more on that here coming up in in a moment.
We do want to update the on the biggest game
of the day. Are the best game of the day,
I should say in college football, Colorado Nebraska has been fantastic.

(02:17:24):
They are now in overtime from Boulder, with Colorado holding
onto a thirty four thirty one lead in overtime. Nebraska,
for some reason, is a top twenty five team in
the Cutter. I'm just saying Apparently, if you go on
a seven game losing streak to start out the year
last year, one game after the season uh starts, you

(02:17:47):
become a top apparently. I guess that that's how it works.
But Nebraska is going for a field goal to tie
the game. Second, yeah, and force a a second, we're
talking forty eight yards in Boulder. The second ever attempt
for this field goal kicks. My god, what the hell

(02:18:08):
was that? Um? Yeah, that looked awful. So it is wide.
I guess right for that field goal attempt. And Colorado
has quote unquote upset number twenty five Nebraska in an
old school Big twelve matchup. They're storming the field in Boulder.
Not a shot in hell. Anybody in there hasn't smoked

(02:18:31):
weed in the last twenty four Not a shot. I'm
just saying, do a little green eggs and ham with
a twist, you know what I mean? Uh? And And
also an update, San Diego State is beating u C

(02:18:53):
l A with two minutes. What's the let's go live
to our let's update you on on two unranked teams
that nobody cares about. Nationally Insider Gavin Kinsel for the
latest Gavin San Diego State, whose son picked to lose
to U c l A. They are beating U c
l A fourteen two and a half minutes left and
then all right, let me tell you what's happening here, Bucky. Um,

(02:19:15):
I happen to be good at a couple of things,
all right, And I'm not good at much, but I'm
good at two things. One, I can identify an off
duty stripper and and I'm working at a percent clip.
All right. I can tell you just based on the appearance,
that's an off duty I'm telling you, man, Listen, we

(02:19:37):
both go to the same twenty four hour fitness go
there at three am. Off duty strippers. I'm telling you,
I know what I'm talking about. I'm working on a
percent clip. The other the other person that I can
identify without having any more information, just based on their
town and the way that they're acting, is somebody who's
got money on a game. Right. That's that's a person
I can identify the way that That was just delivered

(02:19:59):
to us by Gavin Kinsel, our executive producer. The San
Diego State u c l A score, which was force
fed on national radio when nobody asked for it, is
a telltale sign that Gavin has money on that game. Gavin,
did you bet or make a pick on that game?
I did both spread. I really thought chip Kelly was
gonna Yeah, I'm off the chip training guys. This is

(02:20:23):
this ship. Yeah no, look, I mean chip Kelly. See,
I think people forget how bad U c l A
was when Chip Kelly got there. It's not like they
were loaded with it looked outside of Josh Rosen. There
were some questions about Jim Moore at U c l
A and and the and the kind of players that
he was bringing in. So chip Kelly got there and

(02:20:45):
and he's working a little bit and it's going to
take him some time. But I still like Chip Kelly
as a head coach, and I think of ultimately that
it is going to work out. So, um that is
your update from a bunch of games. It's not a slouch.
It's not sex State Marshall Folk still on the team.
Or is that I've been looking at them. They've been
going to bowl games, they been winning games. Come on, yeah,

(02:21:06):
I mean, look look at maybe Airs on a state
like last year. Right, Yeah, I mean I just think that,
um uh, and now Colorado now the head coach of Colorado. Yeah,
melt Tucker, former d C of the Jacksonville Jaguars, If
I'm not mistaken, yeahs Alabama Georgia was the defensive coordinator
for the Chicago Bears and was the defensive coordinator one

(02:21:28):
of the worst defensive units in the history of the
Bears organization. To point that out, but everything I've heard
is he's a great guy. Kirk Morrison, a former Fox
Sports radio alum, swears by melt Tucker, says he's a
great guy, and he's a great guy. He's a great guy.
Um so a big win for Colorado. They're not to
and o on the season after they knocked If he

(02:21:49):
knocked off even I wouldn't be surprised if Scott Frost
and Nebraska in the top fifteen after this game. I mean,
I mean the way the AP works, I mean, it
is a jet. They should change it from the Associated
Press to the Agenda Press top. I just I can't
stand it, man, you we don't know who these teams are. Sorry,

(02:22:12):
that's my Antonio Brown, uh screaming to get out of
my body there? Um ant he damn righty? Did Tom?
I agree? Tom Brady? Alright? So Bucky Brooks, Jonas knocks
here on Fox Sports Radio. We're going to have the
scraps here next. On FS are from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios, where it's easy to say more on
car insurance with Geico, go to Geico dot com or

(02:22:34):
call eight nine four seven Auto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. Uh So the scraps
coming up next for all the latest though from around
the world of sports. Ladies and gentlemen, open up your
ears and shut your damn mouths. It's the gas man,
David Gascon. You can't talk about an agenda pull and
then backtrack on Alabama schedule for this season. They deserved it.

(02:22:56):
I can that's b s. I can listen. You know.
Want Sports Radio is pro wrestling. That's true. I could
do whatever I want steel folding chair one night, uher
purposely just being disqualified the next I can do what
I want. Dave, Well, that's true. You can throw out
your executive producer for gambling and live on the show. Yeah. Look,

(02:23:19):
I know how to spot these things, all right. The
fact that cabin in my area have a switch. Didn
I just say Alabama was a fifty five point favorite.
In that game they won by fifty two. Oh yeah,
I just got your I just got your Vemo deposit
to thanks for Pam. I mean, look, Alabama is smart

(02:23:40):
about it. Man schedule soft opponents early on. It's a
way way to do it. They're in the playoff every year.
Something's working. Yeah, that's true. That is true. Uh speaking
of college right now, the scene is set for a
couple of teams. Right now, it takes center stage because
all the midday games have gone final. Clemson beat Texas
A and M. Alabama won by fifty to Nebraska. They

(02:24:01):
were up seventeen points at the end of the first
half and gave it all up. They got beat by
Colorado on the road, one in Georgia. One today they
beat Murray State, and just underway right now, Oklahoma leading
in Norman over South Dakota seven to nothing. Ceedee Lamb
four receptions for eighty five yards and the one score
Central Florida trying to go for another encore. They beat

(02:24:22):
Florida and they're beating up on Florida Atlantic fourteen nothing
this ball games, only eight fifty two to play in
the game's opening act, and we're still moments away from
l s U in Texas being kicked off seven thirty
East during Longhorns in this ball game six and a
half point underdogs, even though they're at home Iowa Wand
earlier today you taught did as well. Maryland beat up

(02:24:42):
on twenty first ranked Syracuse sixty three and twenty and
Michigan prevailed in double overtime at home to Army twenty one.
Of course, National Football League news today, Antonio Brown has
a new home goes from the Raiders after he was
released earlier this morning to the New England Patriots on
a one year deal at a paying fifteen million dollars.
Back to Jones Knox in Buckey Brooks in just ten seconds,

(02:25:04):
but first to work from Farmers. At Farmers Insurance, we
know there's a crucial difference between a kick drum pedal
and your car's accelerator pedal because at Farmers we've seen
and covered it. We are farmers under my Farmers Truck
Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products un avlable in every stage. Jonas,
I know that you will you can relate to this
and you will probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

(02:25:27):
And they did a great job. The camera crews of
taking the shots of the courtside um, atmosphere and some
of the uh, some of the decorations. What I see
what ESPN, Fox CBS do with the college football scene
with the student bodies. Um, I want to go back

(02:25:48):
and get like a PhD or something. Man, I need
to go back to school. Just man. It's uh a
lot of talent. Matthew McCarty, Hey, going back to Texas
to be a professor of that's pretty good. That goes
back to one of his old school movies where he
talks about, you know, the older they get, the more
he stays the same age or something like that. Very yeah.

(02:26:09):
I went to a a an SEC versus a c
C tailgate party daytime or night daytime, and I said, uh, yeah,
I gotta get out of here. This is not there's
land mines and trip wires everywhere. It's not a good idea.
I gotable. Sometimes you just got to remove yourself from

(02:26:31):
situations you're not I know how, you know how to
you know how to disarmed bombs, there's no The problem is, um,
you don't want to disarm those bombs. You want to
you want to show it off. So it just wasn't
worth It wasn't worth doing. The ability for you to
be self aware in that kind of an atmosphere is

(02:26:54):
undervalued right there? Because I was sober Oh all right, yeah,
because I'm sober an It's not about me. It's about
the booze, I mean, trust me, all right. So, so
he's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Socks here on FSR. Bucky
Brooks mentioned something earlier about the Antonio Brown situation that
I think doesn't get talked about enough, and we're going

(02:27:14):
to get back into that in about twelve minutes from now.
Right now though, here on Fox Sports Radio, it's time
for a little something we do called this how could
you not get to? These stories? Are are the scraps?
And for that we turn it back over to the
gas Man, David Gascon to find out what the hell
we've missed so far on the show, Dave, Guys, we
talked so much about football today, college ball of the

(02:27:36):
National Football League. Let's dip into a little lady action today.
US open it. Jes says Jesse U champion and rescued
nineteen years of age. She upsets Serena Williams in the

(02:27:58):
final today six three seven five, Sirrina Williams thirty seven
years of age. But she's stuck right now on twenty
three majors. Stuck. I say that very loosely because she
is a dominant force in the latest ode of things.
I mean, she didn't get another one. She's got right, Yes,
she will. Yes. It's funny because she dominates up until
it she gets into the final game and something happens
in the final, but she she's always there. She's kind

(02:28:20):
of like tennis's version of the Patriots. She's always in
pestili into the finals. She just has to find a
way to win it. Now she just if I were
just win one more and then just retire, correct, just
just get get out of it, move on. I don't know.
I don't know if she's she's ready go play those
celebrity tournaments. They get paid a grip like you get
like Pete Sampras versus Michael Chang and take it to

(02:28:41):
two thousand dollars. Yeah. Like there's these weird like tournaments
all over the country where they have these legends come
back and playing. People love it, man, they go out
and watch them. It's it's been a big deal. I
guess it's tennis's version of the Big Three. I mean, look,
if you found out it was Craig Hodge is verse

(02:29:02):
verse versus Danny Ainge and a three point shootout at
a park nearby, wouldn't you go watch it? I go
watch it? Why not? Some legends? Yeah, I wouldn't be Look. Look,
some bands play like carnivals and fairs as they get older,
because you know, listen, people want to go out and
they want to see those those classic bands, and so

(02:29:24):
I just think this is the equipment of that. So
if you're Serena, go make a bunch of money and
tour and have a good time. Speaking of touring, what
about this? What if she joins the poker tour? What
does she plays poker? What does she play poker? No?
But I mean you like to see these professionals go
on to something else and they're competitively driven at right,
Because didn't she marry a multi multimillionaire the guy who

(02:29:47):
started read it? There? There you go? So right? So
I mean he's got coin, she's got coin. But so
you want her to go play something that she doesn't
know how to play and lose money at it? Who's
to say she would lose. I mean she never played before.
That would kind of you know, she's got a two

(02:30:08):
seven off suit and goes all in. I mean, I
don't know, Like that's probably not a good idea. We
see these guys online that make a name for themselves
because they hit the tour live and all of a
sudden they win a couple of tournaments and things happen.
So you can't discount someone like Serena Williams. Did you
get into the Texas hold him Craze, Bucky Brooks? You
get I never really learned how to play this kind

(02:30:31):
and so I know how to play, but I was
never all that good and I got into it for
a little bit, but it just felt like everybody was
a try hard, Like for no reason, They've got on sunglasses.
They just like like you're you're playing in somebody's house
at the kitchen table and they've gone on a hooded
sweatshirt and sunglasses, Like what are you doing? We just
have fun with this. It just it's too much for me.
Too many over dramatics are my liking. Speaking of trying

(02:30:54):
hard in Chicago Cubs right now, in the middle of
a race for the National League um bad news for
them today. How your bays. M R. I revealed the
hairline fracture of his left thumb. He will be out
for a little while. I don't know if he'll be
back towards the end of the regular season. Interesting, by
the way, we do have Johnny Ringo joining us live
from the set of Tombstone talking about the Cup season.

(02:31:17):
Smell that alright. The two and a half games back,
Central toe tags are printed. Jonas Knox is the prince
of darkness, but the king of the reverse jinks. Give
me that crap. That's toe tags are printed. That coffin,
it's over. You do this every single time. You do

(02:31:37):
this against the Indians of the World Series, the Penguins
a couple of years back. It's all, man, it's all
this song standing. Yeah, turn that damn song off. What
are we doing? This is that cornball Midwest music taste
that he's got. Oh my god, this song is so bad.

(02:32:00):
I can't believe they actually think this is a decent song.
I look, it's not good man. And if you're a
Cup fan, and you're an honest Cup fan, you know
this is not a good song. Like you, you should
be upset. If you straight do you do you like
North Carolina's um fight song Bucky Brooks even though you're

(02:32:21):
a North Carolina tar Hell, are there any said or
any better? Like Michigan's got a great one? Michigan is
a great one, has a great one. U. C. L
As isn't bad? No, I kind of like when the
Trojans kind of run out. Oh what in the world
is on our screen? Michigan State uniform, Michigan State. Yeah,
they look like a highlighters, bunch of highlighters. Yeah, that

(02:32:44):
thing is hideous. Guys. Back to the National Football League.
A nice president being made today by Julio Jones. He
gets an extension from Atlanta. That's like the big story here,
sixty six million dollars. But at the point of signing
he will get sixty four of that gear and teed. Okay, hold,
So Julio Jones is getting sixty guaranteed. Yeah, but it's

(02:33:06):
at the point of signing. Okay, I got I really
have to know, because this is one of the most
amazing things about Julio Jones. He doesn't score touchdowns, I know,
and he's and he's awesome, and he's he's a great player,
and there's never any issues with him whatsoever. Even when
he's unhappy about his contract, he doesn't make a big
production out of it. They just figure out a way.

(02:33:27):
He says that if you don't like it, you can
dig Roddy White up and put him back on the team.
For God's sakes. I love Roddy White, but I'm just saying, man, um,
here's here's the one thing about Julio Jones though, so
he doesn't score a lot of touchdowns. And who was
it that got the blame in Atlanta for the fact

(02:33:50):
that they had issues in the red zone? Steve Sarkiesian. Okay,
all right, and I posed this question, and I'll pose
it to you, Bucky Brooks. You tell me and tell
me if I'm way off on this. Had Steve Sarkisian
not had his issues off the field when he was
a coach of the usc Trojans, would he have still
gotten to blame for the red zone inefficiencies of the
Atlanta Falcon Maybe that had made him an easy mark.

(02:34:12):
I think a lot of that's on on Matt Ryan,
isn't it not being able to Yeah? Ryan not connected
with him or met Ryan Moving on to the next
read as opposed to kind of feeding the pig. Sometimes
it happens, and sometimes you know, coverage can take away
some of the things that you want to do in
the red zone. And they just made a concerted effort
not to let Julio Jones. Yeah, so good for him though,

(02:34:34):
just sixty more million dollars in the bank and probably
is probably his last deal, I would think, Yeah, how
to check and see how what he is, Um, guys,
A couple other quick notes, Um Jordan read tendant for
the Washington Redskins in concussion protocol. Still he's not gonna
be playing Week one against the Philadelphia Eagles. At some
point got hang out, Yeah, at some point this is

(02:34:55):
a Jordan Cameron situation to where how many how many
concussions has Jordan Reid had before we got to start
having a conversation about whether or not the guy should
play anymore? Seriously. I mean, he's had a handful, He's
missed some games due to it. It can be a problem.
And he's a talented guy really really every every time
he's out there, he's a difference maker. But it just

(02:35:15):
and you never had a concussion plane, did you, Bucky?
I might have had one, but nothing like that. I
try to stay away from all day content. Yeah, no,
noisy down, that's what idea. Man. Whenever, whenever I don't
feel like dancing, I just pretend like I suffered a
hamstring pulling. You always tell you always tell the guy
and guys in football practice who didn't want to be

(02:35:35):
a part of angle tackling or any of the tackling
drills because there was always something wrong with their helmet.
They just couldn't get the buckle on the top of
the helmet buckled in right there. Just for some reason,
they just wouldn't strap in right Every time this doesn't happen.
A good move, guys, that is it, well done, Appreciate it.
H Bucky Brooks Shoonna knocks. Here on Fox Sports Radio,

(02:35:57):
we're trying to figure out what the hell the mission again,
State Spartans. We're thinking by picking these jerseys, it's like
a cross between the Seattle Seahawks and vomit. Yeah, it's
not a good look at all. Not not a good
look at all, But I agree coach. All right. Coming
up next here on Fox Sports Radio from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio Studios, we're going to Bucky mentioned something

(02:36:22):
about the Antonio Brown situation. I don't think it's been
talked about before. We're going to get to the bottom
of that, and we'll do it next here on FSR.
At Farmers Insurance, we know there's a crucial difference between
a kick drum pedal and your car's accelerator pedal because
at Farmers we've seen and covered it. We are Farmers
under written my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates

(02:36:42):
products unavailable every state. He's Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knox.
This is Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in ten minutes
from now Here on fs are all the latest developments
of the Antonio Brown signing with the New England Patriots.
That's right, if you're just tuning in, Antonio Brown now
re member the New England Patriots a one year deal

(02:37:03):
for up to fifteen million dollars, ten million of which
are guaranteed. Antonio Brown will be a Patriot at least
for the time being, but who knows. It's a long weekend.
That could all change based on what's happened the past
couple of days. So all the latest on that ten
minutes from now with Brian no and Nick bah here
on Fox Sports Radio. Now, Bucky Brooks, you mentioned something

(02:37:26):
earlier that I wanted to, uh to go back on,
because I love hearing these stories, the stories that you
don't actually get because everybody's too afraid to, you know,
air anybody out or whatnot. So I like to probe
a little bit. You mentioned one of the conversations we're
having about Antonio Brown is if he doesn't get the
football and he doesn't put up his numbers, but the

(02:37:48):
Patriots are still winning games, what sort of problem could
he be like on the sideline? And you pointed out
that listen, everybody does it all right. It's not just
Antonio Brown. It's not just Chado chose that they are
all right, So who is the Who are a couple
of guys that don't get the attention for being the

(02:38:09):
needy diva type wide receiver that they actually are, just
based on the fact that it hasn't been made public.
Who are some of those guys? I think I think
they all are. I think every every every receiver they
have to feel like they're involved. They have to be
used promptly in the game plan or it's like running
attract me. I guess that's the only way I can
equate it like, if you don't touch the ball playing

(02:38:31):
wide receiver, you're basically running a track meet all day.
You're just running forty yard sprints up and down to
field for no reason. Like what what is this? And
I like, I'll be the first one to say that
I've said this, Like what is what? What am I doing?
This is attracted me? For me? Can I at least
touch the ball? Um? I think if you go all
the way through from Michael Thomas to Deshaun Jackson to

(02:38:51):
Michael if they go launch stretches without touching the ball,
all of those guys are prone to complain. In fact,
when I was in Green Bay playing for the Pack
under Mike Holbran, Gil Haskell was the wide receiver coach
and one of his responsibilities was to remind Mike holgran
to give the ball to Robert Brooks Antonio Freeman. And
in fact, on a play card sheet like we've all

(02:39:13):
seen Matt Naggie's play card sheet. Somewhere on those play
card sheets when you're looking um at TV, the offensive
coordinator should have a thing, a little section that is,
get the ball to number thirteen, get the ball to X,
Y and Z. Because the thing that you don't want
to happen is to go two or three series where
your star player hasn't touched the ball, and then in

(02:39:35):
the fourth quarter you throw to him and then you
know what you're gonna get. Oh now, oh now you
want to throw to me? Oh oh, now now you
