Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. It's Annie and Plank
on a Fox Sports Sunday eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven. You don't want to speak
to anybody after that raider to Baccle. I know you don't.
I'm good, I'm good. I'm fine with it. Uh number one,
pick Aarnie, We get at Oliver at Plank Show, on Twitter,

(00:22):
at Stinking Genius one s t I and k I
N Genius in the number one, and of course at
Fox Sports Radio, and as always we come to you
alive from the Getico Fox Sports Radio studios, where fifteen
minutes could save you fifteen cent or more on car insurance.
Visit geo dot com for a free rate quote. I don't,
I mean we're not getting the Sunday night game like
we had last week. The way things are going right now,

(00:46):
the Captain obvious moment right off the top. Congratulations to
Bobo's cowboys who look like they're gonna hold on. But man,
I don't know how you felt about today, Arnie as
a whole, but just looking at the slate from the
noon games to the even the late afternoon games, even
though they didn't necessarily live up to the hyde great
finish in the Raiders Broncos game, but it really wasn't
a good game. Jaguars kind of pulled away from the

(01:08):
Patriots late. But I thought from start to finish, this
was another fantastic day for the NFL and the league
where worse. It had a little bit of everything, aren'tie.
You had a couple upsets, You had a couple underdogs
nearly pulling it off. You had favorites getting wins. You
had last second wins, you had comebacks, you had disappointment,
tiring and halftime. You had another tie. We had a

(01:29):
little bit of everything in the NFL today. I knew
I should have bet that there'd be a tie in
Week one and week two. I could have gotten some
good odds on that. Yeah, the Packer Viking game was
a good one. That was a phone one to watch also,
And was I dead on about Jacksonville over the Patriots.
The changing of the guard had started. My friend, are
we doing this again this year? Do we have to

(01:49):
go back to the tape from like five of the
last six years where you've buried the Patriots after Okay,
so all right, well, let's let's do this right off
the top. What's different about eighteen as opposed to say
last year when they lost in Week one to Kansas
City and you said they were done, and they went
on to win ten of the next eleven. I can

(02:11):
go back to sixteen when they were shut out by
Buffalo in Week four and you said they were O
V E er over And when I said, come on, Artie,
I was told to wake up. Dorothy an e m
is calling the Patriots are finished. And they won eleven
in the next twelve games. There's twenty fifteen, where they
lost four of six and still managed to have a
decent run that year. Oh and then there's the infamous

(02:34):
run when they got smoked on Monday Night Football by
the Chiefs. The infamous onto Cincinnati were onto Cincinnati and
they ended up winning seven in a row. So how
is this difference? A bunch of reasons. First of all,
New England's got no running game whatsoever. Uh Sony Michelle
did not cut it. I know it was only his
first game, but as a as a whole carries eighty

(02:57):
two yards. That won't cut it against any but these
defense too. He's got nobody to fill the ball to.
And yes, I know elements coming back in week number five.
It could be a little bit too late to a
little too late by then, so and Tom Brady can't
stretch a defense anymore. Twenty four completions yet you only
got twenty yards. That's what we should keep thinking and

(03:19):
dunking and thinking and dunking. That won't play anymore. The
Patriots looked awful. They got down Bay. It was twenty
four to three. I was at the Patriot watch party.
I wanted to switch over to law and order, and
nobody gave it a fight. They're like, okay, switch the game, right,
go ahead, switch the game. And another thing that you

(03:39):
don't understand this. The Dolphins are better, the Jets are better,
the Bills are but at least those two teams aren't
pushovers like the Patriots push them over every year and
get four wins or at least three and one against
those And they'll get the two wins against Buffalo. That's
not happening again this year. At least they'll they'll get
the two wins against Buffalo. But the Jets and Dolphins
will be no pushover. There's not gonna be an easy

(04:01):
years for the Patriots. And and you saw it against
Jacksonville in this game, I honestly think, Arnie and no
offense because I think deep down inside, you're just a
paranoid Patriots fan, and I think you do this every
year because you want to see you want to see
your team win. I think it's something in the water
up in the Northeast and everyone's got to act like
they're not all in. But we say the same thing

(04:23):
every single year. Arnie, do you know who they play
next week? They played Detroit? Did and then listen, I
love the fact that you're Dolphins, and then the Dolphins
the first place Dolphins, first place Dolphins, and you're more
confident in Miami because they beat the quickly, the quickest
christened Hall of Famer in the history of the NFL.

(04:43):
And Sam Donald today the Dolphins to go to the
Super Bowl this year? It was at last year? Was
that year? You picked the Dolphins to go to the
Super Bowl? Every year? That just checking because I have
a year ahead of everybody else around the world. Eventually,
you shoot a gun in the air enough times are
you'll hit a bird or Dolphins. The Dolphins, you've picked

(05:04):
them every year. And then Indie the following week on
a Thursday. I'm sorry their favorite in all three of
those games. And I love how passionate you are about
the Dolphins. But come on, so they're gonna win their
next three games. They're gonna be four and one heading
into Kansas City, which is gonna be a hell of
a Sunday nightdea that we'll get to watch together. I
don't I don't chance watching to know something one day,

(05:25):
have no chance against Kansas City to This is what
I told you last week, or this is what I said.
I don't remember if I told you, but this is
the paper cut that the Patriots got. They they've got
a paper cut now on their hand. You know, paper cuts,
no big deal. You go ahead, you put a band
aid on it. Maybe what were they call that? Neo sporing,
and and and you keep it from getting infected, and
everything's gonna be five. But what happens if you don't

(05:47):
put a band aid on it? Next thing, you know,
that thing gets affected, and then it gets old gooey.
Next thing you know, you're chopping off that finger. Next
thing you know, you can't go to work. You're sitting around.
You can't make anybody your homeless, and that's your whole
life is over. That's what could happen to the Patriots.
Remember it happened to the Portland Trailblazers when they gave
up a sixty point lead to the Lakers and ended
up the Lakers going to win a championship in Portland

(06:09):
has never been the same twenty years later. This could
be finally the changing of the guard we've been waiting for.
Let me get this just straight, so as we welcome
you into Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. You're
comparing what's happened to the Portland Trailblazers to a team
that's that's won five Super Bowls and still has the

(06:30):
same head coach. And how many titles did the Portland
Trailblazers win during that stretch? Arnie, Come on, may put
it that way, it sounds pretty stupid, but come on
the sooner or later. Sooner or later, he's got to go.
Tom Brady, he's forty one years old. I don't know
the way they protect quarterbacks anymore. As Troy Aikman said
on Thursday night, he may make it till he's fifty,
can play two more years anyway, at most he'll be

(06:53):
I still have yet to meet that person in life.
Guys who things really went downhill with that paper cut
and then it all start. If you're listening, you go
straight to the front of the line at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Sure, I think this That's
why I love this show. That's why I love doing

(07:13):
this show with you, Arnie, because there's so many things
that I just I honestly think you root for so much.
You were for all of my teams to lose. If
I started saying I was a fan of the uh
of the Dolphins, I don't know what you would do
with yourself because I change teams but for some reason,
and I don't know if it's again, I think at

(07:35):
the core of it is you trying to find a
way to sell yourself that they're doomed when they're gonna
be okay because you're really a fan. But why is
there this sincessant need to bury a team that has
always proven those of us who try to bury them wrong.
By the way, did you see the tweet I put
out when the score was ten to ten in the
Iowa State Oklahoma game When I'm I do you think
Plank would get mad? If I text him and ask

(07:57):
him how things are going right now? You you know,
I still think that the best tweet about you watching
a football game, because everything to me goes back to wrestling.
Somebody had said Arnie is the kind of guy that wins,
say the Brooklyn ball Brawler or some WWF spare starts
to mount a rally, He's like, Oh, he's gonna win.
It's gonna win. Look out. I mean, my gosh, man,

(08:19):
it's a four quarter game. And were you freaking out
at halftime when you guys were tied with Southern Utah
yesterday or only up a touchdown? Yes? I was, And
I said I was going to resign if Arizona didn't
win that game. That would be wet. I said, who
are we playing? Southern Who? And I go, isn't that
an online school? I'll go, we're losing to it online school?
I go, how can we losing to it? Online school?

(08:42):
I hate to be literal crisp, but about every college
seems to be an online school. But we've got a
lot to get to on the Patriots tonight, on the
incredible start for the Kansas City Chiefs, wild wild day
to Arnie for some off the field news, and it
started late yesterday afternoon with the Josh war. I know
you and Aaron had a chance to talk about that

(09:02):
a little bit last night. And then of course we
have the Vante Davis halftime retirement. But let's real quick,
but just because just because it looks like it's about
ready to come to and we got about fifteen seconds
left in the game. But I don't I don't know.
I I think I got fool's gold last week with
the Giants because they played well at times against Jacksonville.
You see the way that they're trying to use, say

(09:23):
Kwan Barkley, but they I mean, Eli Manning looks jittery,
he looks inconsistent. Their defense gave up a couple of
big plays. I don't know if we plan our flag
and say yes, Dallas is back, this is the team
we expect. But man, this is uh an atrocious start
for the New New York Giants this season at oh
and two right now, I have another I don't know
how much hope you could have out of that. Another

(09:45):
year of being eliminated from the playoff race halfway through September.
Um the whole last year left a bitter taste of
my mouth that I'm gonna have to do the same
thing again. I thought Eli was going to get better.
I thought Kwon Barkley was gonna be able to help
him out. I thought that they were gonna get the
ball to O'Dell a lot more since he's got his contract,
that he's gonna be happier. The offensive line got shirt

(10:08):
up with Nate Solder. What more do you want? Yet
you're gonna start off the season Nolan Tubas. The offense
can't even get out of their way. This is embarrassing.
And look, I understand that Jacksonville is a real good team,
but the Dallas team ran over you and that you
gotta a touch on the first play of the game.
And this Dallas team is not very good. You could
tell they struggle. Also. Both these teams are embarrassing. But

(10:29):
but the Giants owing too. It's like the season's over already.
Chris So, it's twenty thirteen, with eleven seconds left in
the game. The Giants are gonna try an onside kick
here and then I don't know what a hail mary.
Maybe if they get the onside kick, you go ahead
and try the hail mary, and if you hit it,
you go for the two point conversion, right, but that
that may have been the worst can tie it off?

(10:50):
That's all It was too right now for I was
being sarcastic, but I mean, think about it, you have
I don't even know what the giants they may do
that who knows as as a gonna be big time
play by play guy. At some point in my life,
Mark Davis called me, but Arnie, that may have gone
down as the worst on side kick I've ever seen.
And I don't even know how to describe it. It

(11:10):
was almost so far to the side. Why don't you
do it up the middle so you know it's not
going to go out of bounds? I have. I have
no explanation. They tried to do a little pooch pop
up kick down the sidelines and literally dude kicked it
straight out of bounds. So I don't know what gambling
repercussions it might have. I'm pretty sure that you're not
looking at an over under that was around thirty or so.

(11:33):
But the final score is gonna be Dallas twenty, New
York thirteen. So my question from tonight's game, I think
he kind of answered it, Arnie and will throw it
out there on Twitter at Plank Show at Stinking Genius one,
and of course everybody should be following us at Fox
Sports Radio. Is this more about Dallas bouncing back? Or
is this more about maybe just how challenging it's going
to be for Pat Shermer and the New York Giants
this year. No, it's more about how challenging it's gonna

(11:56):
be for for Sermer and the New York Giants. Um,
they just don't look their offense, can't even get out
of their own way. Let's face it again. I know
Jacksonville is a lot better defense, but in this game
to be held, and I don't care that says thirteen
on the board, it was really three for most of
the game, and you got one there at the end.
And like I said, the Cowboys weren't any better. Dak
Prescott a hundred and sixty yards. Tried throwing for a

(12:18):
hundred and sixty yards against any other team and you're
losing by double digits. So no, this is about how
disappointing though other New York Giants are. I certainly believe that. Hey,
by the way, that's that's Blaine Gabbert type number. Is
that Dak Prescott put up today, which by the way,
I guess I can't make fun of because the Titans
still found a way to win and send everybody Super

(12:40):
Bowl picked the Houston Texans to oh and two. But
one amazing stat from tonight's game before we wrap up
our first segment. Here, Oni from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios say, Kwan Barkley just twenty eight yards on
eleven carries. Eli Manning tonight was checked down. Charlie hitting
Barkley four teen times for eighty yards a p p

(13:04):
R fantasy dream, But fourteen receptions for eighty yards batsy,
that's crazy. And they weren't set plays either. It's not
as if we're talking screenplays. Cowboys either did a good
job of coverage or Odell Beckham and Lattimer and Shephard
didn't do a good job getting open. But Arnie fourteen
targets for your running back. That's the way they're gonna

(13:25):
have to get him the ball in many different ways
because their teams are gonna go ahead and and key
on him if he's just strictly gonna try to run
out of the backfield. So and he's good at catching
the ball out of the backfield. He did a good
job tonight. Alright, your tweets, some audio, and we've got
an entire slate of games we haven't touched on yet,
which will do next? With Arnie and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio tweets rolling in hot and heavy skitar as

(13:54):
always Arnie and playing brought to you by Granger. The
products and services as you need when you need him.
Granger's got your back to help keep your facility running.
Granger for the ones who get it done. I like
this from U C l A Dodger Frank to kick
off the show today. Rumor is that if an he
reads too many negative tweets about himself in the first hour,

(14:15):
he might retire at halftime of tonight's show. Is this true? Yeah?
You know I saw that story. Who who retired m
Vante Dave Davis. Yeah, he couldn't. He just he couldn't
hack it out. One half was enough of football. He's
just like, I can't make it the second half. I'm
gonna have to wrap it up right now. Guys, I
find it kind of admirable to be honest with you,

(14:36):
because I see enough guys out there stealing money as
it is. Why not just go ahead and say I'm done.
Who was the guy in football that transferred halfway through
the game or right after the game? That was I
don't know how to google to do some gig. That
was last week? Yeah, that was last week. That was
just a week ago. Right out. I forget who was
Somebody right after the game said, you know, oh he

(14:57):
was on he was on the team? Was who was
the Kansas two weeks ago? Oh? Central Michigan? No, wasn't
when't them? I forgot? You lost the Kansas two weeks ago?
I don't know. You have to see whoever. After the game,
they're like, you know what, I'm out of here. I'm
gonna I'm gonna just transfer. Goodbye, thank you. I don't
even know what I would google with that explanation, Eric,

(15:17):
what would we google guide transfers after transfers after game?
I mean that it was. I can't believe you didn't
see that. When you always know stuff like this, I mean,
you're always on top of stuff. It. It's better than
quitting it at halftime. No, that that's unbelievable. Eric Robbers,
by the way, die hard Bills fan, I have no
problem with anyone quitting at halftime if they suck and

(15:38):
Vante Davis was not very good, right, hadn't he? He
wasn't even active in the first week of the season, right, Well,
the whole team is not very good, man. I just
want to I've retired from being a Bills fan multiple
times during halftime and games. Did I did fall into
a trap, Arnie, that I do fall into quite a bit,
and I get mad at people for I was ready

(15:59):
to celebrate a victor halftime today for the Raiders, but
as it's Dan's right now, I have to go back
to a patent. Take that. It's a four quarter game.
Johnny be Good hits us up and says, Arnie, your
team is making players retire at halftime. Now, this is
where having at the week, I can see that right now. Well,
I mean, but you're not a Bills fan anymore, right,
Dolphins slash Giants. It's it's done for my Giants. But

(16:23):
at least my Dolphins. They don't look great, by the way,
I gotta tell you, I'm surprised they actually got the
victory over the Jets. They looked okay in the first half,
second half they were atrocious. Are our marquee member of
the Bills mafia, Alex P Keaton want to be checks
in and says, I'm an Auburn and Bills fan. It
was like I was Arnie watching Arizona during March Madness.

(16:46):
This weekend, very painful. I can imagine huh LSU coming.
Now get that last second field goal. Oh, that was
a great game, Coach Joe about that. I still can't
understand the damn ward the guy says. But I love
him to death, man, I I can agree with everything
he says because nobody can argue. Yes, yes, absolutely, coach,
because if you argue with him, he'll take a shirt off,

(17:06):
and next thing you know, you're in a fight, you know,
real quick. Just to kind of fall back on college football,
you know, now they have their next two biggest games
at home for l s U. I I don't know
how great their season is going to end up. They
always have a couple of games that maybe they stubbed
their toe. But if you just want to say Auburn
is a little bit overrated, so we don't get too

(17:28):
carried away about an l s U win, Suddenly, aren't
you have maybe the most tested team in college football
with what L s U has done already? At three
and oh, on the season. They destroyed Miami, who people
having the top ten to start this season. Uh, they
hold on to beat Auburn, and now on October thirteenth,
they get Georgia at home, and on November three, they

(17:51):
get Alabama at home, their toughest road game left of
the don't forget Arkansas. Oh wait a minute, they just
got clavered by North Texas. Let's forget about that one. Well, yeah,
but that's my man, Seth Litchel. He's gonna be a
lot of people this year. She's gonna be favorite of
the rest. Well, maybe not in the Alabama game, but
they should be favorite in every game. Maybe a pick

(18:12):
him in the Georgia game, but they'll be favorite in
all the other games. You know, I don't. I don't
know what to make of Florida right now. I really don't.
But they they traveled to Florida on October six, and
then they wrap up their schedule with ain't him. I'm
bouncing around. My point is they get both Georgia and
Alabama at home, and I think that's just that has
the potential to be the team that nobody was talking

(18:34):
about in the preseason. And the next thing, you know, Arnie,
here it is January and they're playing for national championship. Um,
and this from Ernie here real quick. Then we'll get
to the browns. Arnie. The good thing about having five
favorite NFL teams is at least every week one of
your team's wins. And did anybody even know it was
you at that Patriots viewing party or do they think

(18:54):
you were a part of the catering staff. Pats fans
love your curses, Yeah, hats fans. Wasn't like in it today?
Were they They were dominated? I mean absolutely dominated by Jacksonville.
Now all of a sudden, Patriots are one on one.
Jacksonville's got that upper hand for the home field advantage
for the a f C championship all of a sudden.
You're not laughing at that now. By the way, we

(19:17):
got an answer, Arnie, to the question of you know
the guy the transfer that left the school after they
lost it was a Florida after the Kentucky game. I think,
there you go, that's absolutely right, and uh he his
name is Darius Lemons, and he announced his intent to
transfer as soon as Florida lost to Kentucky for the

(19:39):
first time in thirty two years. So that was right
after the game. He moved on. He moved on to
get in that winterers. What's worse retiring at halftime or
leaving and transferring right after the game? Yeah? Thank you
to j T and Attacking Champions for checking in on
us on that one. I can't believe I missed that one.

(20:00):
That's an awesome story to creative a team. After you lose,
you go to the team that beat him, and the
next thing you know, it's like, I don't know if
he got in the wall. I don't know. I don't Yeah,
I don't know where he's transferring to. But he's like,
I can't take this. He just we had the worst
laws in history. I'm out of here, Uh, Arnie, I
think as we segue back to the NFL, more of

(20:20):
your tweets keep him coming. Arnie loves to read him
at Stinking Genius One only positive tweets. If you seen
mean tweets to RNY, he may retire at halftime. Everybody
should be following us at Fox Sports Radio. We'll play
the game that nobody else in sports radio plays. Coming
up at the top of next hour by Sell. Nobody
does this the only one. We're the only one. So
we'll do that coming up at the top of next hour,

(20:43):
But just a real quick kind of preview. Can we
buy that the Browns are better this year or not?
Because I'm kind of digging watching him. I am a
firm believer that if Baker mayfields their quarterback or two
and oh right now, despite that dying that to Rod
Taylor through late in the fourth quarter, but I'm kind
of buying the Browns is a team that's gonna I'm
not saying make a playoff rum binding stretching the imagination

(21:04):
they're gonna win some games this year. Either the Browns
are tremendously better or the Saints got some serious problems
because they're coming off a forty forty loss to Tampa
and thinking, Okay, they're gonna clad this Browns team playing
at home, They're gonna score a hundred on them. They're
gonna go and and punish them for what they weren't
able to do last week. And they come in and
have a stinker like this, a game they probably should

(21:25):
have lost. To be honest with you, I mean, the
Browns were were in control of This wasn't an eighteen twelve,
and um, you know, obviously Saints come down, they tie
it up, Uh, miss the extra point and they go
on the winteen. But Cleveland had to add this one.
And yeah, they're much better. Um, but the Saints, I
got some serious questions about them. There's a really good chance.

(21:47):
There's a really good chance the Browns could win their
next two games because they play the Jets at home.
I'm wo that game be before or after Sam Donald
Tall of Fame jacket ceremony was that when when's that take?
And they he had a good, edit, decent game. The
two interceptions caused him today though, Arnie, I'm telling you
what you know. Well, maybe we'll get to it a

(22:08):
little bit after after the break. I yes, he did
not play awful, but we're we're treating this guy in
the media as if he walked out and through for
five hundred yards and six scores in his opener. I mean,
my word, we'll get to that coming up in just
a bit. I mean, they can't put him in the
Hall of Fame. Mahomes is already in there. You're out.

(22:30):
But they get the Jets next week. H that's the
Thursday night game, and I think they get the Raiders
and Oakland's not playing well, so by that point you
could be looking at a team pets to one and
one posting the Ravens on October seven. So maybe not
as bad as you think, but I'm thinking they're a
team that if Baker Mayfields are starting quarterback through two
and oh right now, we come to you live from
the getic Fox Sports Radio studios. When we come back,

(22:53):
we're gonna dive into a little bit more about two
horrific calls today, one that cost a team will win.
But first, ladies and gentlemen, Steve the Sakers in the
house to make sure we're caught up on everything going
on in the world of sports. What's going on? Steve,
good evening, gentlemen. There will be an induction at halftime
of the Monday night game. By the way, in Chicago,
Hall of Famer Brian Urlock are going into the Bears
Ring of Excellence, and it will be Khalil Max playing

(23:16):
a soldier field for the first time since the trade
from Oakland Seattle at Chicago Tomorrow night. Seattle linebackers Bobby
Wagner and kJ Wright will each miss the game due
to injuries, as Wheal wide receiver Doug Baldwin. By the way,
Tonight's game at Dallas was twenty to three Cowboys late
in the contest the final O of the Giants, who
are O and two. How have teams done as far

(23:37):
as postseason with an O and two start in the
NFL since two thousand two, Only eleven percent of the
teams that started owing to qualified for the postseason. Eli
Manning was sex six times. Tonight, Jacksonville beat New England
thirty one to twenty. Now Tom Brady had two touchdown
passes to Chris Hogan two hundred thirty four yards through

(23:58):
the air, one fumble, Blake Portal's four touchdown passes, one
interception three hundred seventy seven yards, and running back Leonard
four Nette did not play due to his hamstring injury.
It was ninety seven degrees at kickoff and humid. Rob
Gronkowski held the two catches fifteen yards. Jacksonville wins at home.
Keelan Cole had seven catches for one sixteen and a touchdown.

(24:19):
The Jacksonville offense on third down conversions ten for fourteen
in beating New England. Today Denver with the comeback win
over Oakland twenty nineteen on a late field goal. Rams
shutout Arizona thirty four to nothing. The Cardinals with only
five first downs total. San Francisco beat Detroit thirty to
twenty seven. Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes was six touchdown passes

(24:40):
and only five in completions at Pittsburg or the Giants
or any other team, the fans are saying thirty seven.
The final Mahomes was twenty three eight three hundred twenty
six yards. Pittsburgh had thirty three first downs and lost
at home Ben Roethlisberger. For total touchdowns, you have three

(25:00):
touchdown passes just the second quarter in the comeback, it
was tied at the break. Roethlisberger sixty pass attempts over
four hundred fifty yards and they lose. Each team with
twelve penalties and Minnesota missed the lake kick and lost
in over. Well, it feels like a loss. Tied after
overtime at Green Bay twenty nine. All big late comeback
for Kirk Cousins, but no victory for either side. Late

(25:22):
field goals get home wins for Tennessee and New Orleans.
Alabama is still number one in the new College Football polls,
but Georgia is now number two in AP Clemson fell
to a close number three. L s U was up
to number six in the country, with Stanford number seven
in Oklahoma State moved up to number fifteen. Wisconsin is
all the way down to number eight. Team baseball final
at St. Louis tonight, the Cardinals shut out the Dodgers

(25:44):
five nothing blast from the past. Adam Wainwright got the
win with six scoreless innings and nine strikeouts. The Cardinals
had lost four in a row. They had been a
game back for the final wild card spot in the
NL until this win Tonight. Home losses for Atlanta in Philadelphia,
home law us is for the Cubs and Milwaukee. NASCAR
win for Brad Keselowski and the breaking NBA news earlier

(26:05):
tonight that Dwyane Wade says he'll return for one last
season with the Miami Heat. He averaged eleven points per
game last year. Back to you all right, thanks guys,
We go straight to the guy called Fox Sports Celebrity Hotline.
Joining us right now is a man who picked up
a big touchdown catch tonight to start the game. Tavon
Austin on the heels of the Cowboys over the Giants. Tavon,
congratulations on the win. Man, Welcome to Fox Sports Radio.

(26:27):
How did it feel to get back in the end
zone and do it on the big stage. Oh, man,
it's so amazing, man, awesome matter of fact. So you know,
I'm just thankful right now at the day happen, he Tavon,
There was there was a lot of talk before the game.
Giants were talking a lot of smack, especially at dark Prescott.
Uh did you guys kind of pick up on that? Uh?
To be honest, I didn't hear nothing about that. I'm

(26:49):
gonna type of guys to be out of the media.
I want to be on Twitter and all those things.
But for the most ill already behaving my own type
of just coming to each and every week so I
always are with you man for the host Part eight, Tavan,
How much of a challenge is that in today's society
to keep that pigeonhold focused because it seems like we
need jerk like crazy anymore. But you guys stay focused

(27:09):
on your business. How big of a challenge is that? Man,
It's a It's a very big challenge. And depending on
what type of guy you are, you're a social media
type god and emotional the type person you know what
definitely get to you but you know you hear, you
hear about it. You hear about it. Uh, all right,
so you hear about it, and you just gotta just
block it out. We've been through it our whole life.

(27:31):
Just block it out and go make a play and
keep on going from there. Tavon, last week there was
a lot of criticism about the offense. I think you
guys played better this week. What did what did coach
say to you guys from from last week to this week?
Because I'm sure you guys felt the pressure. Uh, it
was just talking about the game management. I'm staying on
top of you down, not putting outselth a second or

(27:51):
twelve and second and sixteen. Uh, that's all about, you know,
getting y'all down and stand on the game plan. And
you still on the game plan. You're pretty much that
something going. So that's that's all it was. Hey, Tavon,
I know you don't have a lot of time. Last
one from me, but how impressed were you with the
composure of Dak Prescott today? Giants tried to get after him,
but he stayed composed in the pocket. To be honest,

(28:13):
I didn't seen that for the time I've been here.
I haven't seen him as great. I always knew it
was just he always had it in him. It just
it was the first game of the season. We all,
we all haven't been out there together and were getting
better and better each day. Man, and that I feel
like he definitely gonna show a lot more than he showed. You, Tavan,
thanks a lot for stopping by gratulations on the victory.
All right, thank John Man. All I we'll see that's

(28:35):
Tavon Austin back on track for the Dallas Cowboys. Man
big time? Did uh surprise what he said? He doesn't
really get on Twitter and if he's probably the one,
the one athlete that doesn't get on Twitter. And but
by the way, who did Dak Prescott say to uh
mission accepted or something like that. But before the game
and they were talking, it was it was it was

(28:55):
Landing Collins. It was the safety Landing Collins who kind
of talked a little trash to him. You know what,
every time Tavon Austin's name comes up to an Oklahoma fan,
you kind of get the nerves going, you get the
shivers going, because he was the guy that absolutely positively
destroyed destroyed Oklahoma in two thousand and twelve, aren't He
ran for three hundred and forty four yards on twenty

(29:17):
one carries and had four catches for eighty two yards
and by the way, yep, eight kick returns for a
hundred and forty six yards. That night in Morgantown six
years ago, he had five hundred and seventy two all
purpose yards. And get this, that wasn't a record. He
came up eight yards shore of the record. So it's
good to see him back on track. Unbelievable. I didn't

(29:39):
how did you remember all that? For crying out loud, Google,
It's just how I found out about the Florida Kentucky thing.
How could I remember all of that? That was six
years ago? Of course, so you won the game. But
guys like Tavon Austin our players that and I'm not
just sitting here gonna try to suck up to him
because he came on. But in all reality, aren't either
players that you kind of forget about, and you forget

(29:59):
about their explosive nature and the difference that they can make.
And tonight that was as if Dallas was shot out
of a cannon and you get a play like that
to start the game out like they did sixtr touchdown pass.
It really sets the tone for the entire game. And
sixty four yards to be exact, and in all honesty
for Dallas, I mean, it was about all they needed

(30:22):
tonight to beat the Giants. Right. You get something like that, uh,
and all of a sudden, it's a it's a big game.
You go up seven nothing, you're at home, the crowd's
going crazy. Next thing you know, you're the Giants and
you're shaking your head. You're downed, had nothing. And then
you're like, what the hell is going on? We're already
behind the eight ball. And give the Giant sub credit there.

(30:42):
They're always dounted, had nothing at a halftime. I thought
they were gonna be able to come back to get
that offense going. They no such luck. They never really
gotta go in. No, No, did not happen. All right,
a couple of quick tweets. I do want to clarify
one thing, because I had brought this up and I said, Hey,
if if you're gonna retire at half time, go do it.
I'd rather you not go out go out there and

(31:03):
and are not go out there and sucked than just
steal money Uh, and Alex p. Keaton want to be
checked and he goes, no, no no, no, he's totally stealing
money because his contracts guaranteed well not not not necessarily true.
According to uh Joel Corey, who's been on with us
many times, former agent. Now, Uh, he writes for just
about everyone. I think he does some stuff for football
posts and CBS Sports. But he said they can actually

(31:26):
get back nearly all of his signing bonus and void
his base salary guarantee. The remainder of his per game
roster bonuses won't be paid. Maybe that much. Maybe I
want to come back now, termination pay, which can be
collected once, isn't applicable. Uh. He collected three point seven

(31:47):
mill of it from last season when he got cut
by the Colts, So they'll get some salary cap relief
from it. That's almost two mill they're not paying, and uh,
it won't go against their roster bonus. Thank goodness. He
wasn't on the roster for you know, activated for the
first game. I'm sure that would have made him quit. Yeah, no,
no kidding, Maybe they would have known quicker. Yeah, he

(32:08):
was a healthy scratch in the first game, and he
was the first game. First game didn't want to make
your quit. It took the second game to make you quit. Well.
And here's the thing that's kind of funny about it
is you go back to the off season and guys
like Vonte Davis, if your team was looking for a
cornerback like say, maybe mine was you. You look at
him and realize, you know that dude's been to a
couple of Pro Bowls and maybe he's someone who could

(32:30):
come and make a difference. And you end up losing
him to Buffalo, and you kind of get a little depressed.
And then lo and behold, when he gets that opportunity
to play, the dude quits. Here's what's even crazier about
it is Lorenzo Alexander, the linebacker, having to explain to
everyone what happened. I mean, you're in the post game
locker room, and it's kind of how to feel like, well,
we had a player quit at halftime. I retire half time.

(32:55):
Oh my gosh. All right, the questions are rolling in
hot and heavy. Will get to him coming up here
and just a bit from the guy, go Fox Sports
Radio Studios and again nobody else is doing this is
sports Radio by Cell coming up here in just a bit,
and Peter says what Spaniards is interesting? On the airs,
the Arizona Cardinals offense that scored zero points today a
little bit more than that, Am I not? Or what

(33:17):
did you see how they had the last name of
Sam Bradford on his jersey. It looks like his name
was brad Ford because for some reason there was there
was a space and I'm I'm watching that whole game
and the love I love right, I love Sam Bradford.
I think he's had an interesting career after an incredible
collegiate career. Arnie, it's time. It's time in Arizona, it's

(33:40):
time in Cleveland. Let's hit over drive. Let's give these
rookies a chance. I want to see Josh Rose and play.
I want to see Baker Mayfield play. It's time. And
when we come back, it's time for your tweet. It's
Annie and Plank Fox Sports Radio. Miss this at the

(34:00):
bottom of the hour, but I want to remind you
that Areni and Plank brought to you in part as
most of us Sarah Fox Sports Radio by Geico. What
does it mean when Geico says just fifteen minutes could
save you fifteen per cent or more on car insurance.
I means you probably should have gone to Geico dot
com fifteen minutes ago. Everything's final in the world of sports.
We'll hear from the Sager coming up here in mere moments.

(34:24):
You guys got to retire tonight's game six sacks Man
six and he got destroyed by Jalen Smith. Speaking of
retirement for Eli Manning, I really think CBS has to
take another run at their rules expert. The dude that

(34:44):
is Jane is a Jean Tours steratoris or sarators something
thoughts territory. You know, I've adopted this new theory in life. Okay, Vermont,
did you tell him he's awful at his job? Because
I kind of felt that in my life. If I
if I say bless their heart before anything, I can

(35:07):
say whatever I want. So here we go, Gene Territory.
Bless his heart. Dude seems lost everything that Bruce arians
and Trent and Green said during the games, and oh,
you guys, I agree with you, and it was always wrong,
always wrong. He was like Mike carry the dude they
had before that was always wrong. Though, I will say
I couldn't wait to ask you about this tonight. I've

(35:29):
never heard a call happened like it did today in
the Raiders Broncos game. I think the officiating was suspect.
I think the Broncos had a touchdown taken from them
that should have been a touchdown. But I double pass
interference was called on the same play. Offensive past interference
and defensive past interference. Offensive pass interference on Marii Cooper
defensive past interference on the guy covering him. Don't you

(35:53):
just kind of say, no, hey, how could you have
a pass interference because the offensive guy in the defensive
on the same Exactly what was it called? In like
in reference to like when there's uh offsetting? Um, you know,
misconduct penalties? You know where you was one one was

(36:13):
in fraction early in the route, and then the one
wasn't fraction late in the ron No, I have no actually,
after watching the play, I don't know where either one
of them happened. It almost looked as if they were
jostling for position and the umpire kind of freaked a
little bit and just through a flag and like it's
on both of them. Better do something there, you know.

(36:35):
So how pass interference on the defense? Pass interference on
the I really would love to be an NFL ref.
I you know, I I hate to quit this show,
but I don't think I could work some days doing
this show and be an NFL ref coming on after
going Wow, this cowboy he really does steak. I was
rough in the game today and man, they're horrible. Guy

(36:55):
that doesn't go good. You know, you guys have no
idea how bad they really are. And people were getting
angry at what the one of the umpires that was
a replacement umpire official, excuse me, referee whatever job he
had because he was working a Saints game as when
they had the umpire, I keep saying, up our official
strike and he, I guess was what a Saints fan.

(37:16):
I found it on his Facebook page and everyone lost
your mind. So Annie, I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't
be able to keep coming on here and telling everyone
how much the the Cowboys suck and still be and
giant games. Then how about that? Well, I I think
then there would be your allegiances that would come into
question quite a bit. I can I can do Oklahoma
football and throw a faggo how about that pike? You know?

(37:38):
Let me is the true story my high school principal
in Pacific Pali Stades High School, was a ref at
the Rose Bowl at a Rose Bowl game and it
was out of hand, and there was a picture of
him on the you know, on his desk, of him
throwing a flag, and I looked at I go, that's
pretty cool because I was in trouble. I was in
his office and he goes, yeah, you know, he goes,
I hadn't called I hadn't called the pet the all day,

(38:01):
and that was towards the end of the game, and
I wanted to get my picture taken, so I threw
the flag so that we could take the picture. I'm
not getting around. Did he get fired? Please tell me
he got fired for that. He was a high school principal.
Here's a couple of quick tweets to get to to
wrap up our number. No, it's not you should you

(38:22):
should never be uh. Brian Colangelo's burner account just hit
us up and said, Arnie, last team to start oh
and two and win the Super Bowl the two thousand
and seven New York Giants. Don't stop believing kiss of death. Yeah,
I'm not believing. I'm not believing that I did. Just look,

(38:43):
my dolphins are tour No, and I don't even believe
in them right now with the way they looked. Arnie.
Good question from t J. Who had the better game
the quarterback? The quarterback would pass for two d nine
yards a touchdown and a one four team passer rating.
Are the one who didn't throw a touchdown through a
pick and had a sixty one passer raiding in a win?

(39:03):
It's Kdom. All he does is win, win, win, right, Derek,
you can't be much better than Derek Carr was today
thirty two, two and eight yards a touchdown, only had
one sack. He was ridiculous today for the Raiders. But again, uh,
in this case, to the victor, go the spoiled. I

(39:25):
don't know what to think of Denver right now. We'll
we'll get into this with our two and o teams.
It's kind of like last year. Denver and Oakland both
two and oh last year, and everyone was losing their
minds and neither one of them ended up making the playoffs.
And and one more quick one here from Dean who writes,
has the state of Florida ever been six and oh?
After the first two weeks of the NFL season, the Bucks,

(39:48):
the Dolphins, and Jacksonville. Wow, I was about to say,
I don't know what he's like. He's obviously not talking
about college. No, no, no, no, because that's all about
UCF right now. Yeah, I will say, of all the
teams that are off to that hot two, and I'll start,
and I love how much fits magic. Ryan Fitzpatrick is
digging all of this right now. Good for him. I mean,

(40:09):
people forget he's had some pretty good runs in his career.
He had a pretty good run in Buffalo, he had
a nice little run for a time in St. Louis,
but things tend to fall apart for him. But I
love how he's digging this right now. That has to
be the most unlikely to and OH team in a
long long time. So we'll see how things continue for them.
But I don't know Arnie dolf Fins being two and

(40:31):
it's kind of a shock too. Right then, we're trying
to count out your boy Tannehill. I thought, yeah, I
didn't know they were. I was hoping for just one
in one and I'd be grateful. Then did you see
Tannehill get hit and limp off because he got hit
to save me? I'm like, oh, that's just great. There
you go two games, and that he's going down now
to stock up, stock down who you're buying and selling.

(40:53):
We'll get into it next with Arnie and playing here
on Fox Sports Radio. Let's go, let's go, coming to
you alive from the guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We're fifteen minutes. I could save you or more on
car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free rate.

(41:17):
I want to read draft. I don't want Ezekiel Elliott
with my fourth pick. I want my homes. You want
to go back and draft draft? Well, through two games,
he's the number one picks. So what am I laughing about?
But keep keep in mind are now it's it is
very early, and I know it's fantastic, and the show

(41:40):
is today, not two weeks from now, so we can't
apply too much logic here. But but teams are gonna
get more tape, They're gonna find more ways to scheme,
They're gonna be able to attack them differently. Got so
many weapons, Christie. That great job, said Chicago. Great job
by the Chiefs front office and their scouting department to

(42:02):
see the vision that Andy Reid had and go out
and find guys to fit that and I mean it's
real simple. Whenever I mean Tyreek Hill, Let's be honest,
he fell into his lap. For those who don't know
Tyreek story, he had some issues, got him kicked out
of Oklahoma State, ended up going to I believe it
was a D two school. I don't know off the
top of my head, dropped about the fourth, fifth round,
and you know, had some issues, but to his credit,

(42:25):
to his credit, he's worked through them and it's become
one of the most explosive playmakers in the NFL. You
find Cream Hunt, the kid that they got in what
second third round, who becomes one of the more versatile
backs in the NFL. They go out and they had
Sammy Watkins and oh, by the way, Arnie, they have
a tight end and Travis Kelsey who went today. When

(42:46):
they say, hey, what was what was working for you
to to to get you the two touchdowns? Adages, Well,
I I was wide open. That was his response. I'm
watching over there. The Chiefs will be the best team
in the history of the NFL. Uh to lose in
the first round, I just well what they do it
every year? Whatever? But you don't know already, Come on, no, no, no,

(43:09):
Chiefs like, oh wait a minute, now, we got a
different quarterback. This has been going on for decades. You've
had different quarterbacks for decades. Now. You can't go back
to Len Dawson. Yeah, you know, he can't go back
to Bill Kenny. Don't try to sell me Todd blacklind
Or Steve Peller here, Kansas City chief fan. I like him,
I mean, and listen, I'm supposed to hate him because

(43:29):
I'm a Raider fan, and I hope they lose every
game they play because they're just that unbearable. But damn
they're fun to watch offensively, I mean and and I'm
not gonna get too carried away here, but this would
be one of the first quarterbacks to really go out
and excel from the Big twelve. Now, keep in mind,
Robert Griffin the third had this hot start, run one

(43:50):
Workie of the Year his first year, and then it
all fell to you know what, he was a one
hit wonder. They've got an opportunity here to put together
a couple of wins. But man, this this schedule gets
real challenging. They got San Francisco next week at home,
then they go to Denver and Arnie, they host Jacksonville
and traveled to New England and back to back weeks,

(44:10):
so we'll learn a lot about this offense. Well, I mean,
I know in your world, New England stinks. Yeah, I
was about just about I was just about to say
no problem against New England, that's for sure. So I
guess we can kick things off this hour talking stock
up stock down. Uh, this is a runaway in the
a f C West right now, because there is no
stock higher than Patrick Mahomes through two weeks, is there.

(44:33):
You know, it's not just so much the ten touchdowns,
it's the way he's seeing the field. It's getting it
too different people. Matter of fact, he got that he
got thirty five points. I don't even think Tyreek Hill
had any touchdowns until late in the game, and he
would like picked up touch on number six or something
and number five number I don't even remember. Um. Yeah,
so you know he's hitting other people around and and

(44:56):
by the way, Kareem Hunt had less than a hundred
yards I think get like seventy five yards, so it
isn't like he's running like crazy. Also, it's it's just
really battanced. I mean, that's that's how much I love
this team right now. Yeah, and in fact, Kareem Hunt
from a numbers perspective, as soon as I say, the
still run for three hundred yards speaking, but it's it's

(45:17):
really been the passing game so far of Patrick Mahomes
and using the weapons like the Sammy Watkins of the world.
I mean, through what two games? Now is he? What
is he at two games? Uh? That's that right? Forty
nine yards that can't be right, forty nine yards in
the opener, thank you, forty nine yards in the opener
for seventy five yards in the second game. So I
mean you're not getting that number one back type of

(45:40):
contribution from Kareem Hunt right now. All right, So buying
her sell and stop going. You can't have a lot
more yardage because teams have to go ahead and play
the pass and worry about Mahomes picking up apart like
they did today. Yet he's still not breaking it open.
He had eighteen carries today. I'm an ex and no,
I'm not an ex and no guy, but I follow
a lot of people on Twitter that are, and may
be that's the adjustment. Whenever teams start dropping more dbs

(46:03):
are going to nickel to try to slow down. What
the Kansas City Chiefs are doing so. We we touched
on the old Cleveland Browns a little bit, Ani, But
are you buying and selling that it's time for them
to move on to Baker Mayfield? Are you okay leaving
Taylor in there for a little bit? I think I'm
okay leaving Taylor in a little bit. I thought that
they could have had a win today. Obviously they had
the tie in the first game. Um, I know the

(46:25):
schedule is gonna get a lot easier from here on out,
or at least it is for the next couple of games. Um,
I think I'm gonna go ahead and have to keep
them in there, uh and not make a move just yet.
Let's see what they do in the next game. What
was the number that the sager had earlier? Oh and two?
Teams only have made the playoffs eleven percent of the time.

(46:46):
It's just crazy. So, I mean, but they'll they'll be
oh two and one if they lose. So that is true.
That is true. What's the numbers on that one? Uh?
Buying selling Panic time in Pittsburgh? Aren't panic time to
win a Super Bowl? Or just well, if you want
to go back to our a f C North preview

(47:08):
that I know you've probably already forgotten about. The Steelers
were running away with this division and no one was
close to him. As a matter of fact, if I'm
not mistaken, I think you had him going to the
super Bowl as far as your pick now and oh
one and one, let's just talk in general of being
a good football team first before we talk super Bowl
panic time. No, it's not panic time, obviously. You know

(47:32):
you've got to tell Ben you've got the cut down
on the interceptions. I don't know what to say about
the defense because the Kansas City is gonna do that
to a lot of teams, So I'm not too worried
about that. And at Pittsburgh gets better as the season
goes along, though, I don't think it's panic time just
yet with the with the Pittsburgh Steelers, well, I'll say
this much. If it's not panic time, when is it
going to be? You tie to Cleveland Brown's team at

(47:54):
twenty one? That I mean you should have lost to
late in that game. You should have won. Okay, he
fumbled the ball in overtime with the chip shot field
goal as well too, so we can we can go
six and one. Had half a dozen and the other
all night if you want on that one. But then
you got destroyed at home, and I know the score,
like destroyed and they got destroyed. It took a fumble

(48:15):
late to even give him an opportunity to cut it
to what a two store a two score game at
one point. So I'm telling you what, Arnie, I'm war
And they're going to Tampa next weekend. And I don't
know if you've noticed this, but Tampa's strengths are what
have been the weaknesses so far for Pittsburgh. I don't
think there's a magic fix in their secondary Arnie. They

(48:35):
get the Ravens and Falcons back to back at home
following this. This is a killer stretch right now for Pittsburgh.
But am I falling into a trap? I guess, I mean,
maybe need to check myself. I try to be logical
sometimes I try not to be a hot take warrior.
But if I'm not going to allow you to bury
the Patriots yet, I guess logically I can't bury the

(48:55):
Steelers right because they do this seemingly every year too,
where they have a game or two that leave you
scratch your head wondering what the hell is going on.
But at least they have an offensive. At least they
have weapons. You know, I don't think I could say
the same thing for the Patriots. They've got so many
question marks about this team. And that starts with the
first team defense. That starts with the running game. They
couldn't even run the ball today. They've got no weapon.

(49:17):
The wide receivers are just a bunch of question marks
out there. They'll get Edelman back, but I don't know
if that's going to fix everything. And let me tell
you that the Brady does not get a lot of
time to throw the ball. This is the worst New
England Patriot team they've had in fifteen years. With that said, uh,
they're going to the playoffs, right, That's exactly what's gonna
happen every year at New England. You think they stink

(49:38):
and they turn things around, all right, Arnie, Since we
were on Tampa just a little bit, are you are
you buying that it's Jamis Winston's job when he's back
in week four? He no, what do you get? Have
you not seen Ryan Fitzpatrick? You want me to put
this guy in about how many touch on he had
for today and howbody did he have in the first
weekend another four. Uh. They put a note out earlier

(49:59):
that he is Uh. His seventy two fantasy points are
the most through two games by any player in the
last fifteen years. So there's a good fantasy note for you.
Touchdowns and you want me to put this guy on
the bench, What is wrong with you? Wake up Dorothy
any ms calling. I'm not putting anybody on the bench
that took my team to two And oh, I don't

(50:20):
care who you are. He's gonna stay in the game
and until he proves that he can't win anymore. I know.
But it's I feel like we've been here and done
this before with Fitzpatrick. I feel like we've had these
stretches where you go, oh, hey, I think the Bengals
have found their quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Oh no, that the
decision is very easy. Of course you go with Fitzpatrick

(50:40):
because I don't think the bucketeer is one of the
pay Jamie's Winston the money anyway. So here's the good
excuse to put Jami's on the bench, going Fitzpatrick, Let
Jamis go after the year and move on to another quarterback.
I can't help it be impressed. I think it's one
of the coolest stories going in the NFL right now.
I mean we're through two We're not through two weeks.
We still have money that football tomorrow night between the
Seahawks and the Bears. It's like, ask it very much

(51:04):
is if Kurt Warner had played for eighteen teams before
we finally ended up with the with the Rams, can
you just talking about the old man slinging it around
type thing? If I were to say Ryan Fitzpatrick seven
without cheating, how close do you think you could come
with the seven teams that he's played on, Um, I
would probably get about four, Okay, Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans,

(51:27):
Jackson's Jets, and Buccaneers. Interesting, I don't think I would
have gotten. I hope you would get the Buccaneers. Uh.
On one more quick one before we grab a break
and we'll continue to roll through some of the things
we've learned from Week two of the National Football League. UM, Arnie,
I know that you know we need jerk. We have to.

(51:50):
That's our job. That's what we do here on Fox
Sports Radio on Sunday night. So when I lay this
lay up here for you, when I put this on
the t are you buying or selling that the Dolphins
And when I say good, it can be in whichever
way you describe it, or a really good team this year,
capable of making a playoff run. Though, yes they're capable

(52:12):
of making a playoff spot. But I I watched like
that whole game on my phone while I had the
Red Zone channel on my big TV, and I don't
want to miss one play out there. Um, and let
me tell you something. They're lucky. Sam Donald made some
mistakes through a couple of interceptions. Um, they really benefited.
They got out to a good lead was twenty to nothing,
but they were far from impressive. Tannehill again just doesn't

(52:36):
have you know, he just he has bad decision making. Man,
he really does hundred seventy yards go on the road.
Try winning with that. And the running game. I know,
when you look at the final numbers and say it
doesn't look all that bad, it wasn't all that great.
A lot of the run came out Dannehill and that
was the first play of the game when he ran
for like thirty yards. It it let me tell you something,
this Dolphin team. I give him credit for going to

(52:59):
and oh but the screws are gonna come out. I
can see that happening already. I hope it starts next week.
Though the Raiders have never played in Miami. That's Raiders
offens coming up next week. Alright, we've got more than
specially just rips me say, it's just the Steelers flat
out sock. Come on, Artie, you know that the defense
looks terrible at this point. It looks like Tampa will

(53:19):
destroy them. Kansas City is gonna make a lot of
teams look like that plank. You better tell him that. Well,
I don't necessarily disagree, but it's what are the Steelers
historically known for? What were they the Steel Curtain? They
were the steel curtains. Interceptions Now, I'm just kidding, that's
what it's become and and not not getting interceptions. So

(53:43):
when you see something like what happened today, even though
we all know how powerful the offensive weapons are and
how much potential Kansas City weapons, the weaponry is. If
I could speak English, nobody goes into Pittsburgh and does
that now. In know someone will go back and say, oh, yeah,
I put fifty on them last year. I don't care.

(54:03):
It's not supposed to happen, And I don't think it's
a Levy on Bell issue. James Conner hasn't been awful,
But are we talking about a different story right now?
If Levian bells you're running back as opposed to James Conner,
that's a question for Steelers fan. That's a question from
Mike Tomins. I don't think so from Afar. I don't
think Arnie that suddenly there two and oh and not

(54:23):
oh one and one. If Ladonia Ladinian listen to Ladania
Tom listen, or Levan Bell is out there right now,
form do you know. I don't think it would change dramatically,
especially because you know he doesn't by defense, So what
was he gonna do? And stop in Kansas City? By
the way, Um, somebody just put out a really cruel,
cruel uh tweet to us. Very upsetting. Um, they had

(54:48):
the nerve to put down our picks uh that we
made at Fox Sports in the studio and retweeted out
and there's mine that says green Bay over Pittsburgh. Very
upsetting to see that, as well as everybody else's pick
at the network. So I'm very upset about that. I
still feel good about mine, which we can get into
next we're talking NFL as we do here with Annie
and Plank, dive into some more things. What do you

(55:11):
mean you just don't feel good about yours? Yours out
Atlanta in New England. Yeah, they're one and one. Right,
you're done. Oh my gosh, it's Fox Sports Radio, Sarni
and Plant Comedy Live and the getic Fox Sports Radio
Studio Steve the Sagarin less than ten minutes from now

(55:33):
with everything you missed. But right now we're going through
some things we learned. We're buying and selling. I'll say
this much interesting mix on Twitter right now. For instance,
our buddy Bakersfield Rod checks in. He said, Chris, when
the cards are hot, you don't get up from the table.

(55:53):
You righte Fitzpatrick until his arm falls off. I'm not
necessarily saying that I disagree, but Jamis is uh, he's
supposed to be the franchise guy. I think this is
a better debate for next week, probably right after what
Tampa Bay. Who did I just say? Oh, they play
Pittsburgh next week to see what they do against the Steelers,

(56:14):
and maybe it's for next Sunday. But stops you guys, uh, Max,
writes Ryan Fitzpatrick is the Jeremy Lynn of the NFL.
What are did have a great? What ten games? Didn't
hear what he did? He and he's still playing. He's
made a career out of it. I think he's on
the Hawks now. I think uh and then uh Bill's

(56:36):
mafia checks in sell Ryan Fitzpatrick. He does this all
the time. He lights it up for five games, gets
a huge contract, then goes back to playing like a
guy who went to Harvard. Though. I will say I
love that he's digging every minute of this. The post
game get up. You'll hear from him post coming up
in the final hour. I think that's part of this too,

(56:57):
is you see how much he's enjoying this. They've got.
You know, those are coaches in Tampa right now that
are coaching for their jobs. They were lucky to come
back this year. I think if the Buccaneers knew that
John Gruden was trying to come back, we said, that's
worked out. I don't know if they I don't know
if they have a job right now. They they can't

(57:17):
pay Gruden what they're paying them in Oakland. I I
still don't know that's possible. They weren't gonna fork over
that type of money, that's for sure. Um, you may
be right, you may be right. We were joking during
the break. I wonder how many times And by the way,
Todd Monkin might be the best offensive coordinator in in
the NFL that we don't talk about. He did an
incredible job when he was the head coach of Southern

(57:38):
miss He was in Oklahoma State for a while. Dude
to stud and I think he's really getting things uh
clicking obviously in Tampa right now. But how many times
do you think, arenie that John Gruden when he's been
on the sidelines with that Denny's menu that he has
in front of him that he's reading off of. How
many times do you think he looks up at the
press box and just shakes his head and says, how's
there in the a c where I had to watch

(57:59):
this a little bit of him talk to a couple
of coaches in here, watch the game and say that guy,
this guy right here, over and over again. You think
that regret has started to see, you know what, They're
actually better than I give them credit for. I mean,
they really whoa what wait hold on, did you just
give the Raiders some credit. I thought Denver was going

(58:21):
to just crush them, you know, just go ahead and
destroy them in this one. And and not only did
they have a chance to you know they competitively, they
had a chance to pull this game out and and
win this game then lead or something. Did that if
Chris and this and and by the way, car was phenomenal,
let's let's not b s he was. He was great today.
He was. I don't know if everybody had better numbers

(58:42):
than he did. Okay, well, hold on, guy, and I'm
just talking to pleach a percentage. I don't mean touch
on Like Mahomes, I have always said that if I
ever get a hole in one in golf, I'm quitting.
I'm leaving my my clubs, right I think I'm I
think I'm going Vante Davis here, guys, aren't He just
gave some credit to the Raiders. I don't care that
they lost. I could have more than three or four

(59:04):
wins this Year's that's all. That's all I wanted though.
I just wanted you to It's like getting approval from Dad.
I just wanted to do. They're just not the worst
team in the NFL. You know, there there's not only
like the fifth worst team in the NFL. Can I'll
do an Arnie, Arnie, give me your kids college fund,
I will take that over. What will you give me
over under on Raiders? Once you give me four, I'll
take that over. What was it at the beginning of

(59:25):
the year, So I think it was like seven, wasn't it.
I still would take the over. I think that's better
than anyone's given me credit for. Again, we're two weeks
into the season. You're gonnaknee jerk like crazy. You told
me that nothing was wrong with the Steelers unbeatable there
oh one and one right now, which, by the way,
you're getting roasted on Twitter, which deservedly so from uh

(59:46):
whatever sorter handle is. Wait, Arnie, Pittsburgh gave up a
forty burger with fries at home and nothing to worry about.
What a stinking genius unless he's not. Wow, take that on.
Like I said, though, Kansas City is going to do
that to a lot of teams. You're gonna base how

(01:00:06):
good Pittsburgh's defense is against one game against that great
Kansas City offense. You're making a big mistake there. Especially.
We just talked about the weapons that the Chiefs have
why are you applying logic to the Steelers? And but no, no,
a serious question here, aren'tie. Why do you apply a logical,
well thought out take to the Steelers. But yet with

(01:00:27):
the Patriots it's just other done. I mean, Brady's old,
They've gotten no weapons there. I gave, I gave you
a logical thing for the Patriots. I gave you more
logical than I did with the Steelers right now, and
by my point is you're willing to give the Steelers
some leeway in what is probably I'm sorry, Sam Donald sheep.

(01:00:49):
You're a bunch of sheep. The dude has one good
game in his debut and you act like it's the
second coming. Yeah, but it came after a pick that
was like the pig you know. Oh yeah, I know
you all buried him afters. But no, My my point
is New England's in an easier division than Pittsburgh is.
You've pounded that in my head for the better part
of every season that we've worked together. But yet here

(01:01:10):
you are almost saying, well, Kansas City is pretty good.
New England lost on the road to Maybe they played
them the a f C Championship game this year, maybe
the second best team in the NFL, even right now
in Jacksonville. But we're not going to say, Hey, I
think New England's gonna be okay, but you're willing to
say Pittsburgh is gonna be okay. I don't. I don't

(01:01:31):
get why, because I gotta hear the damn accents up here. Hey, Hey, hey,
Tom Brady gonna be okay. You're gonna play the least
sixty and we're gonna win five or maybe ten more
super Bowl. If I got to hear that garbage all
the time, you'd be saying the same thing. Also, I
will say I thought it was funny on Thursday night
when Joe Puck was just I raided about a couple
of the not Joe Buck, pardon me, Troy Aikman, was

(01:01:53):
I raid about a couple of the roughing the passer calls?
And he said Tom Brady might be able to play
UNTI least fifty if they keep contacting the quarterbacks like that,
which gets us to a final thought here before the
Sega rolls in, I know we need Does the NFL
have to do something about really reevaluating the roughing the

(01:02:14):
pass or call, especially whenever it's costing a team, a game,
it's going through the roof. I think of record pace
or what Chris I saw. It has to be, has
to be. I don't have the exact number in front
of me, Arnie. I'll get it during the update. But
I mean, Clay, Clay Matthews, you and I both thought
it was a little bit of a week call. But

(01:02:36):
last week against the Bears, okay, I mean I can
understand that that was a step today against Minnesota on
that throw, on the timing of the hit, saying that
he I don't know this whole body pressure thing that
somehow NFL people are able to gauge as referees. That
was awful and it cost Green Bay Alin. And I'm

(01:02:58):
not trying to be over drem attict, but you never
know what that one win and it ended up as
a tie. Did you ever know that one win could
end up costing you? Did you happen to see the
hit on Cam Newton today when he went down sliding? Yes, now,
that that atrocious as I've ever seen it. That was crazy. Yeah,
And I just I don't know if there is I mean,

(01:03:21):
these these are thousands of conversations that take place on
a regular basis I don't know if it's just become
subjective between certain officials to where some referees will let
it go a little bit more than others, and maybe
there's those that paid attention a little bit more in
class than the other. Is about what is truly considered
egregious and what isn't. But yeah, Arny, that's an obvious one.

(01:03:42):
I mean, that's one where you're like that, dude's gotta
go the claim Matthews hit. Yeah, that was just horrible
in my It doesn't matter who's also playing quarterback on
who gets the calls. Also, that's a great debate. Let's
talk about it next. But first, before we go any
further on the ever popular roughing the passer con for Station,
Steve is in the house to get us caught up

(01:04:02):
on everything going on in the world of sports. What's
going on, Steve? That conversation is replacing the I don't
know what it catches anymore. It's moved up to number
one on the depth chart beyond did he make a
football move which was dropped at least three times during
the Raiders game. Today, at least we don't have the
going to the ground anymore. Fortunately, we had a very

(01:04:25):
fast Sunday night football game, and even more fortunate for
the Giants because they were almost not on the field
at all for much of this game. Down twenty to
three at Dallas late in the contest, laughing at my Giant,
that was your partner, but I I in spirit laughed Dallas.
The final Eli Manning was sex six times. New Orleans
on a field goal with under thirty seconds to go

(01:04:46):
a forty four yard or beat Cleveland eighteen. Tennessee got
a field goal with a minute left to defeat Houston
twenty seventeen. Minnesota missed a thirty five yard field goal
attempt on the final play of overtime, finished with a tip.
I have twenty nine all at Green Bay and by
the way, this is two straight weeks to open the season.
We have a tie game, first time since nineteen seventy

(01:05:07):
one that's happened in the NFL. Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes,
as we mentioned earlier, six touchdown passes, only five incompletions
in the game at Pittsburgh thirty seven Chiefs. The final
Tampa Bay in Atlanta, with wins Miami and Indianapolis as well.
Chargers won the game at Buffalo thirty one twenty as
the veteran dB Vonte Davis, so the Bills retired from

(01:05:29):
football at halftime. Also, the head coach, Sean McDermott, a
former defensive coordinator, took over the defensive play calling in
the second half. Why did not just wait like the
second down in the third quarter? Things are just going
swimmingly there in Buffalo? That was a playoff team really
last year. If the Chargers had a field goal kicker,
that would not have been a playoff team last year.
Rams in San Francisco each one home games today and

(01:05:52):
it was Denver coming back. They were down nineteen seven
to Oakland late third quarter and beat him twenty to
nineteen on a late field goal, and Jackson Bill did
defeat New England thirty one to twenty Blake Bortles with
four touchdown passes. Alabama is still number one in the
new college football polls, but Georgia now number two, l
s U up to number six, Texas A and M
is in at number twenty two, Boston College number twenty three.

(01:06:15):
B y U was ranked at number twenty five. More
on college football at a moment tonight, in baseball, St.
Louis shut out the Dodgers five. Nothing great news for
the Cardinals because they lost four straight and were a
game back going into tonight for the last wild card
spot in the NL. Colorado won its game, so they're
a half game ahead of the Dodgers in the NL
West right now. Two weeks left in the baseball season

(01:06:37):
and the Rockies are at Dodger Stadium for three starting
tomorrow night. Cubs in Milwaukee each lost at home. Atlanta
and Philadelphia each lost at home. Brad Keselowski won NASCAR's
playoff opener at Vegas, his third straight week with a victory.
Dwyane Wade says he'll return for one last season with
the heat. NBA preseason games start in just under two weeks.

(01:06:57):
Jimmy Butler has a meeting with Minnesota tomorrow to discuss
his future there, and Florida State has been so awful
guys their first three games, fortunate to get even one
win that some fans have started go fund me accounts
plural to buy out the new head coach, Willie Taggart.
Of course, he's just starting his contracts, so it would

(01:07:17):
take one million dollars to do so, worth not including
the assistants, but as of tonight they have raised fifty
six bucks. So go for it, I say the athletic
With these numbers on Florida State's offense so far for
the season, they have failed to gain any yardage ont

(01:07:39):
of their snaps. In the opener when they got crushed
by Virginia Tech, it was fifty cent of their plays.
They gained no yardage. At Syracuse it was fifty percent
of them. They had sixty plays. Thirty out of the
sixty they gained nothing. Jau tho. That is Florida State football,
which will be at best six and six this year.

(01:08:01):
They're only win so far a couple of weeks ago
when they struggled mightily at home against Samford, not Stanford,
Samford and it's uh Northern Illinois visiting this Saturday, so
good luck Sammon in Northern Illinois. You've taken the Huskies.
I like it. Let me write that down now, that
put me on the track of that one. Never write
that one up. The line on that this is Steve

(01:08:22):
will rejoin is coming up in ten minutes. What does
it mean when Geico says just fifteen minutes could save
you fift or more on car insurance? Means you probably
should have gone to Geico dot com fifteen minutes ago. Yeah,
we haven't talked much college football tonight. We'll get into
it in the final hour. But to two schools on
Saturday that I just again I feel for their fan
base is kind of Florida State that was embarrassing, Arkansas,

(01:08:45):
oh my gosh, and then one any member of the
Big Ten not named Ohio State. I guess you kind
of feel bad for conferences now. I thought the Pack
twelve was bad? How about them? Hey? By the way,
uh a pac twelve. I stayed up and watched all
of it, all of it last night. Arnie. Oh, I mean,
I know why kids were in bed. I like pain.

(01:09:09):
I guess maybe more than anything else. Were You're watching
the Washington game? Which when were you're watching? I was
watching Washington, Utah, and I was watching a little a
little bit of the Arizona State game. But I forgot that.
I guess whenever you cover an Arizona State game, you
are contractually obligated to gush over HERM Edwards the whole time.

(01:09:29):
So I guess this is a new rule that I
completely missed out on. But when you call for future broadcasters,
when you call an Arizona State game. All you're supposed
to do is talk about how great Arizona State is
in San Diego State ended up upsetting them. No, that
had a crazy finish. They had to hail Mary where
the guy caught it at like the three yard line

(01:09:51):
and he got absolutely blasted and they called targeting in
an incomplete pass and it was just crazy finished and
congratulation Arnie win column Wildcats. Who've gotta feel pretty good, right,
I mean, beating Southern whoever h and online school really
makes me proud. So I meant I can sense the

(01:10:12):
excitement in your voice. Okay, So we've got to find
a way to talk in depth about this just disaster
today for one Zane Gonzalez. And I'm willing to bet
that a majority of us had no idea who Zane
Gonzales was before this day started. Uh it's it started
out pretty poorly for Zane Gonzalez. Whenever Cleveland had an opportunity,

(01:10:37):
Arnie to take a lead after an I mean just
incredible throw by to Rod Taylor to Antoine Callaway. All right,
a big extra point now because the game has tied
at the play clock is down to nine as Britain.
Cole Quick wanted it reset. Now it's at three. Gonzalez

(01:10:57):
for the extra point, snap back balled, I'm gonna kick
this up and he missed it again. Sane Gonzalez misses
the extra point again. You can almost hear the life
go out of the booth, right, you can all I mean, seriously,

(01:11:19):
you can almost hear just the absolute dejection. Now it
wasn't finished. Somehow, I think New Orleans Arnie might have
the worst defense in the NFL. I know that Pittsburgh
was bad today. I I understand that the Raiders haven't
been consistently getting pressure. But how the Browns were able

(01:11:39):
to get not only the forty seven yard touchdown pass
from Taylor to Callaway, but put themselves in position to
potentially tie the game makes absolutely no sense to me.
But despite all the problems, Zane Gonzalez still had an
opportunity to force overtime. This is gonna be a long
shot for Zane Gonzalez. They're gonna put the ball down

(01:12:00):
at the forty two yard line, fifty two yard field
goal attempt. He's missed two, he's made one, and he's
missed an extra point eighteen. New Orleans snappers back falls down,
he's into it and over and the kick is no
good with three seconds to go, and Gonzalez, with his

(01:12:22):
helmet off, takes the long walk over to the Brown's
bench area. Again. Two for four on field goals. Oh
for two? Wow on extra points. Yeah, you're supposed to
leave your helmet on so nobody can see your face
as you walk to the bench. You never you never
take it off? What are you thinking about? You know?
So is we typically do in the world of sports.

(01:12:46):
Everyone brings up their frustrations on Twitter, and they don't
really check to see if they're actually going after the
right guy. For instance, if the Browns kicker's name was
Chris Plank, there's a pretty good chance people would because
sing at me on Twitter because no one really takes
that extra step to see am I tweeting at the
right person? Well? I, I guess there's a Zane Gonzales

(01:13:09):
that is a college baseball coach who was lit up
over two hundred times on Twitter with people just destroying him. Uh,
here's a couple of them. How does it feel to
be the reason the Browns franchises still winless? Here's one
from Haley. Haley probably Haley. What what? What a wonderfully

(01:13:31):
uh place name for this from Haley? Zane, you gotta go. Uh.
Here's one from Handsome Luke, which is which is actually
quite creative. He says, I hope you stub your toe
every morning for the rest of your life. I hope
you get stuck in traffic every single night. So poor
poor Zane Gonzalez the college baseball coach is getting lit

(01:13:55):
up tonight. But hey, when you've been in this rut,
it's now eighteen stray without a win. I think it
goes back even further than that, stretching into the season.
But you can't help but feel snake bit as a fan.
Can's did we have We didn't have Twitter when Scott
Norwood went wide? Uh, I can confirm we did not
have Twitter. That guy, Oh my man, you gotta do that.

(01:14:19):
Eric's it's been a rough day for him already with
what happened with the Bills. Dudes are quitting and halftime.
You don't have to bring up Norwood, but I think
we both agree Browns are in a better place. They're
going to break this trend at some point now. The
Raiders in two weeks. My living just south of Cleveland.
He's waiting for the free beer. I might kid, you
just go to the supermarket get your own beer. You
gotta wait for them to win a game, dude. Can

(01:14:40):
you imagine what that rush is going to be when
they do actually get a win towards those bud Light coolers.
I will say, Arnie, there was a small part of
me that was rooting for that dude to Zane Gonzalas
to hit that field goal because I really wanted the
possibility of the brown starting the season O O and
two oh oh and too would have been awesome. But

(01:15:02):
the Saints gotta done. Feel bad for your Browns fans.
We'll talk more about what's next for Hugh Jackson, and
there's another saga we haven't got into yet. We talked
earlier about Vante davis retirement at halftime, but Friday night,
the NFL where our Saturday night excuse me, the NFL
world was set on its ear with some Josh Gordon
news will get get you the details of that and
what might be next for the now former Brown Here

(01:15:23):
with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Welcome to
our friends in Los Angeles. On a m five, seventy
after Dodger talk with Arnie's buddy Tim Kate's just wrapped
up right A sports they love? Is that true? Do

(01:15:45):
they go because because I would yell, Oh, Laker fans like,
I don't know why bout all of a sud would
drive you crazy. I don't understand why anyone. Here's the
thing about Arnie. Arnie works in the mark Kid and
then bashes the team of the market that he's in.
I'm New Yorker, okay, but you still you bashed the

(01:16:08):
Knicks and that's your team. Well, they're horrible. I gotta
be honest. I'm supposed to come to Los Angeles just
because I went to high school with Genie Buss and
and and Steve Kerr and all that and become a
Laker fag. Yes, you are where you are? Could you
imagine because I was a good looking guy in high school,
I really found I really find that you were a

(01:16:29):
good looking guy. Your belief I would ask Genie out.
She would have easily fallen in love with me. With
my you know, great charm, we would have gotten married
and I'd be half phone of the Lakers. Right now, Hey,
did you know the Easter Bunny's Room? You could save money.

(01:16:49):
Switch to Geico. Go to Geico dot com and in
fifteen minutes you could say fifteen or more on car insurance.
Take or kick it off next hour. More details coming
out on Vante Davis. A lot of Titan fans in
our mentions will get to that and obviously some Gruden thoughts,
but Steven Sager is in the house to catch us
up on everything we've missed. What's going on, Steve, give
a shout out to Frank Gore and the Jets did

(01:17:11):
have three turnovers lost to Miami at home twenty to twelve.
Ryan Tannehill two touchdown passes late second quarter. Frank Gore Miami,
now with the Dolphins, has over fourteen thousand yards rushing
for his pro career. He's up to fourth on the
all time list if you gave me a hundred uses
and against the Jets past Hall of famer Curtis Martin today,

(01:17:32):
so he only trails Barry Sanders Walter Payton at number one,
Emmett Smith on the all time rushing unbelievable, it really is.
As for a great start to well, he has to
be absolutely has to be fourteen thousand rushing yards Barry
Sanders had fifteen thousand. Yes. No, it's kind of like
Dave Kingman hitting all those home runs but not getting

(01:17:52):
Roughiel Palmero. But that's another story. Uh. Michael Thomas, Saints
receiver in two games, has twenty eight receptions. That's a
record start to a season. Andre Risen had twenty six
in his first two games of Jacksonville. Finally beat Tom Brady.
A p said they had been oh and eight in
the career against Tom Brady. This game at Jacksonville today,

(01:18:15):
which they won without Leonard Fournette. He sat out with
the hamstring entry point. It was ninety seven degrees at
kickoff and humid and Blake Bortle's outplace. Tom Brady and
Rob Gronkowski finished with two catches fifteen yards. Oh, he
looks horrible. Brady look like dog to a dog? Do Also,
did you have a to drop a ball to have
a couple of touchdown passes of Chris Ogan and the loss?

(01:18:36):
But thirty one twenty Jacksonville the final and the Rams.
Since trailing the opener at halftime at Oakland, the Rams
have outscored their opponents fifty seven to nothing the last
game and a half. The final stop The final at
the Colisseum today was thirty four zip against Arizona. The
Cardinals finished with five first downs and NFL team had

(01:18:56):
five first downs, eight punt spike comparison, and nine penalties.
Sam Bradford finished with ninety yards passing one hang off
hanging off. Larry Fitzgerald left with a hamstring injury. It
was called minor. Meanwhile, Jared Goff over three fifty yards
passing Todd Gurley three touchdown runs and this with the
kicker Greg's Urline suffering a groin injury in warmups didn't

(01:19:19):
really matter with a thirty four nothing final against Arizona.
In this game, the amazing day for Patrick Mahomes ten
touchdowns now through the first two weeks. That's an NFL
record through two games, and Ryan Fitzpatrick with another four
touchdown passes. You know, in NFL history, it had only
happened once before where a quarterback started out with four

(01:19:40):
t d passes in each of his team's first two
games of the season, and al Mahomes has done it
and Fitzpatrick has done it in the first two games
to start this year. Ben, you know, I gotta say
something here. You know who saw this coming, not only
with Fitzpatrick, but I mean, who saw this coming with
it with just average quarterbacks. That goes to show you
don't have the babies quarterbacks top dollar. Well, eventually someone's

(01:20:02):
gonna have to pay the young quarterbacks top dollar, and
Mahomes might be one of those. On the other hand,
we had a rookie and Josh Allen getting the start
at Buffalo and the Chargers led twenty eight to three
late in the first half, and Alan looked like a
rookie and he got sacked five times, but he was
not seeing open receivers. He was throwing behind other receivers.
There was a screen pass that would have been a
big game that he just flat out missed. And the

(01:20:24):
Bills next week are already sixteen point underdogs at Minnesota.
Love Minnesota, and on the call of the game, by
the way, for CBS, steep Urline, who's from southern California,
called them the San Diego Chargers four times in the
first eight minutes of the game. I mean, we're all
gonna be doing that for a while, I'm sure, but
this was really something. It's gonna be the same with
all of us. When the Raiders move in a couple

(01:20:45):
of years, but changing the name anyway. L A's Melvin
Gordon had three touchdowns first half the Chargers. The next
three weeks they play the other three California teams and
all three games are in l A, ram San Francisco, Oakland.
Their next three opponents all in a row and as
far as Atlanta. Devonte Freeman with the knee injury, out
two to four weeks, so Tevin Coleman stepped in. Had

(01:21:08):
over a hundred yards rushing on only sixteen carries as
they beat Carolina. Matt Ryan two touchdown passes late second quarter,
then two touchdown runs second half. Christian McCaffrey on the loss,
running back fourteen receptions for Caroline. I think Tevin Coleman
is one of those guys it's gonna make himself some
money in the off season. He's got an opportunity, I think,

(01:21:31):
to really end up being a big time get for
someone and go and be a potential every down back.
He's up for unrestricted free agency next off season. Thanks
Steve Will come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio
studios with some trips through the locker room postgame audio.
Next with Arnie and Plank, we are coming to you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, where fifteen

(01:21:51):
minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on car
insurance and all you have to do, Arnie is visit
Geico dot com for a free rate quote. Okay, we'
I don't know how this happened. Maybe we've maybe we
credit Clay Travis and the incredible following he has in Nashville.
We have a lot of Titan fans that check in

(01:22:12):
on the show regularly, and we probably haven't given them
the love they deserve for pulling out a game with
their backup quarterback when there was zero offense played. I
saw the Miami game. Well, this is true, this is true,
This is true. But I'm trying to keep things on
the Titans game here for just a bit not very
good offense. Look at this headline from John McClain. Uh,

(01:22:37):
just a great rider out of the Houston area recapping
this game. All right, I think about this Texans a
very hip pick in the preseason to potentially make the
Super Bowl. You we all put the Shawn Watson in
our Six Game Hall of Fame. He and Jimmy Garoppolo
proud of members currently of that Six Game Hall of Fame. Well,

(01:23:00):
but again, Mahomes isn't to six yet. Mahomes is is
the after two game Hall of Fame right now. Not
quite in the Dak Prescott Preseason Hall of Fame yet,
but you know, we'll see what happens next year. The
headline Texans lost one of the most embarrassing in team history,

(01:23:21):
one of them, one of the most embarrassing losses in
Texans history. Here, here's just a couple of notes, and
he brings up, Uh, they're in dead last, but I
mean we're after two games. They allowed a fake punt
for a touchdown. Jadeveon Clowney, who didn't play, was penalized
for taunting on the sideline, and that was a penalty

(01:23:44):
that helped contribute to a field goal that made it
seventeen to seventeen. And on their last play when they
were trying to get into field goal position, I mean, again,
I don't think that they didn't have a time outlet,
but they were just trying to put themselves in position.
They weren't a bad field position. Deshaun Watson held onto

(01:24:04):
the ball so long that the clock expired by the
time he had completed a thirty one yard pass to
DeAndre Hopkins and oh, by the way, Arnie, eleven penalties
for eighty eight yards. The case may be made that's
not good. I glad I'm saying no this Houston t

(01:24:25):
wats On's watch out for them. DeShawn Watson. What this
guy did last year before he got hurt. Oh my goodness,
he's gonna be the best thing ever. Okay, okay, oh
my god. Quite a mess in one of the games
that we probably haven't talked about at all. I can't
even say enough at all here today. But you lost,

(01:24:46):
and Blaine Gabbert tried to throw two passes on the
same play, and you lost to that quarterback. And I
loved Blaine Gabbart afterwards. Oh no, no, no, I I
knew what I was thirty completions. He probably thought that
here's a chance for me to get two completions at
the same time. All right, before we it to some
locker room audio, Arnie, I'm here all week. If you're
a team, let's just hypothetically, say a team that needs

(01:25:08):
some weapons, a team that's lacking a deep threat, a
team that might not have playmakers, say a team like
New England. Right, you willing to take a flyer on
Josh Gordon right now, maybe even if necessary, go give
up a pick to try to get him from Cleveland.
I don't think um depends on what the pick is.
My thing is this in the entering drug rehab. So

(01:25:31):
can you trade somebody that's in the drug protocol rehab thing?
I I didn't know you could do that. I think
you have to wait to get clean, come out and
then you could make a move. But let's just put
that aside for a second. I think it'd be a
great move by New England. They lack uh any you know,
quick strike person. In a matter of fact, Brandon Cooks
was their deep threat um and once they got rid

(01:25:53):
of him and the Rams picked him up and gave
him all that money. Uh now, Tom Brady, look how
many completions he had today? Tom Brady at his yards,
he just does not throw the ball downfield because he
has nobody to stretch that the defense and Grod was
taken out of the game today. He needs another weapon.
They don't even have a good running back, Sony Michelle's
just get the hang of things. They gotta go ahead

(01:26:13):
do something for him. Well, okay, maybe we need to
rewind on this story a little bit because I think
you bringing up has he hadded to rehabt magnifies what's
going on here. So let's clarify what's going on here.
We don't know what's going on here. There's been like
eighty six different stories that came out. First there was

(01:26:34):
the report that he showed up late Saturday and he
wasn't himself. And then there was the initial report that
he was doing a marketing video and he got hurt
while doing the marketing video. And then it was now
actually it was his own film crew, but he's going
to get released on Monday. And according to Mary Kay Cabot,
who has covered the Browns for a long time, the

(01:26:55):
feeling was that he showed up on Saturday and he
wasn't himself. When Gordon showed up in the Brown facility,
he was quote a little tardy according to a source,
and complained of a pulled hamstring when doctors examined him,
and in addition to the tweaked tam string, they were
concerned that perhaps he was struggling with his sobriety or
on the verge of relapsing. So Gordon put out a

(01:27:17):
statement earlier today that thanked Cleveland, but didn't hint it
any potential trip to rehab. And as it stands right now,
as many times as he's been in trouble y, you know,
he's getting tested like crazy. So on. I don't even
know what today's date is. Right now, on September six
of two thousand and eighteen, he's still eligible to be

(01:27:40):
on any roster that he wants to as long as
the Browns cut him or trade him. So as of
right now, there's no reason why he would be suspended.
The Browns are just tired of his act for him.
Is there something that's going to come up that says, Okay,
now he needs to get help. He needs to get
his life right otherwise, like kind of agree with you.
I think it's a Belichickian move to to get somebody

(01:28:03):
like this. I thought it was a bellichicki in move
to get Dez. But I guess dest went eight million
this year by the Cowboys, Um, and he'll get that
entire eight million. I don't think it really makes difference
if he comes back to play earlier or not. Um.
That's why I think he's waiting a little bit before
he decides to come back. Yeah, And I kind of
got a sense today that the more this story developed,

(01:28:23):
when you when you heard the Niners, John Lynch was asked, Hey,
we're doing our due diligence. You heard the Patriots name
brought up. Suddenly you hear that Josh Gordon is floating
it out there, Arenie, that he wants to be a
Dallas cowboy. So whenever a guy is able to kind
of at least change the narrative, he might be around
for a bit. It's get it does to bring in

(01:28:45):
Josh Gordon. I mean, come on now, well maybe he
might be a more explosive receiver. But with that in mind,
I'm telling you right now, Arenie, I love playmaking receivers,
but if they're if the Martavis Bryant saga has taught
us in anything by raiders, hey he had a pretty
good day to day, to be honest with you, but
it's a ticking time bomb. And I don't mean that

(01:29:05):
anything personally towards more Davis. But you're waiting, You're waiting
for the NFL to make a decision. Apparently he's hired
a lawyer. If you sign or trade for Josh Gordon,
isn't it just a matter of time before something happens
that ends up ends up costing you. This guy, I
hate to be that guy. I love giving second chances.
But Arnie, we've reached that point now where I don't

(01:29:25):
know if you can risk it with him. Yeah, well,
especially with the Patriots, I'm not sure. I mean, if
they really wanted to get the wide receiver, they've brought
in about five and they've signed a couple of them recently.
But if you really were that desperate for a wide receiver,
like I said, des would have made perfect, perfect sense um.
And he was even you know, a lobbying to go
to New England. They wanted nothing to do with him.

(01:29:45):
So I don't think New England they feel they're in
a desperate situation. I feel they're in a desperate situation. Well,
i'll tell you one person who may or may not
agree with you, as Bill Belichick, will hear from him
coming up here in just a bit. Do you want
to go out on a limb and guess kind of
what the hindering? The tone was a Bill Belichick's post
game press conference, Arnie, he was pretty upset about is
he on the Kansas City? I don't know who they

(01:30:07):
played next? Is he on the wherever or while No, No,
it's it's not quite to that level yet. Now as
the week progresses for everybody up in the Northeast, there
might be a pretty good opportunity for it to be. Hey,
we're on too here, We're on to wherever it might
be next. But I will give him credit on one front.
He is um. He's trying to do his best to

(01:30:29):
dare I say, stay calm and own what happened today.
Here was Bill Belichick post game for the New England
Patriots's not a good enough performance of money of us.
So it's got a'll do a better job. Just get
back to work here. You're ready for Detroit. But it's
disappointing the kind of day we had today, but that's
what it was. So it move on, live with it,

(01:30:50):
own it, and move on on to Detroit. I love that,
by the way, It's so funny that he was somewhat calm,
cool and collective as you know, who wasn't tom ad
really well, I got it, you didn't see well, I
have the I got the picture of him. I don't
know where this is from tsn ur or wherever it says.

(01:31:11):
Tom Brady absolutely went off on his teammates while trailing
against the Jaguars, and you can see a picture of
him screaming at somebody with his finger pointing to his
head like think think you know what I mean? You
could tell he's really upsetting that. I got video of
him being heated when they were down twenty one the
three at the half against Jacksonville, So you can see
him just barking at everybody playing. Kind of goes in

(01:31:33):
line with this take then from Tom Brady. You know
you have a bad day against a good team, it's
a recipe for losing. You know, we certainly had a
bad day, and we gotta learn from having bad days.
And there's just things don't magically happen. You gotta make
them happen. I can completely and totally understand where his
frustration was today, though, I uh on the old Twitter
sphere on the website, I don't know if you've heard
of it Twitter dot com, ARNI, some were questioning whether

(01:31:56):
or not you truly were into the game and paying attention.
Jay are right, I had I I had a Patriot
viewing party today, but you even admitted you were watching
your Dolphins. Well, I guess that was a different or
the earlier game. Uh, did Arnie really even watch the game?
Brady wasn't great, but he wasn't dog do Thank you

(01:32:17):
for cleaning that up for me Jr. The O line
couldn't block, and the wide receivers got as much separation
as Arnie would have had. The Patriots desperately need wide
receiver help. She's what I've been saying. And you know what,
maybe he's right about that. Maybe Brady wasn't that bad,
but they just couldn't move the ball. And you know,

(01:32:38):
when it was twenty four to three, I'm like, I'm
blaming everybody. I'm blaming the running game, I'm blaming Brady, Um,
I'm blaming the lack of wide receivers. Everybody took a
blame at that point. Uh. And then Eddie writes, I
just heard you say, my Rams, there goes any chance
of sniffing his Super Bowl. Why would you do that
to the Rams, Arnie? I know I used to like

(01:32:59):
the Red when I was a kid living in that way.
Add another team to the list, Eddie, Add another team
to the list, Ernie, I mean, my gotch Arnie, you're
adding the Rams to your list of teams. I will
say this, Uh, our final hours sometimes is for catching
up on the games we didn't give a lot of
attention to in our first two hours. But man, a
team that's almost necessitating more attention to him is the

(01:33:21):
Los Angeles Rams to the first couple of weeks of
the season. Yeah, the Raiders might not be that great.
I don't think Arizona is all that great, but I
know this much what I've seen from Sean McVeigh and
that team, that's a well oiled machine. I think that's
looks in mid season form already already. I have to check.
I'm looking it up right now, but yeah, yeah, it's

(01:33:43):
I think what we've learned too, is that a lot
of teams around the league have been helped by seeing
more of Jimmy Garoppolo. So teams are defending him a
little bit differently. So San Francisco might not be the Juggernaut,
but they're not awful. Arizona is awful. Seattle or third
and fourth done, it's sealed. Well, we'll learn a lot
about Seattle tomorrow. If I don't need to see Seattle anymore.

(01:34:05):
Here we go again, all right, When we come back
to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, I'll take you
on a full trip through the locker room. I don't
even know why we would preview tomorrow night's game because
Seattle stinks. Right, So it's Mitch Robinsky over Russell Wilson,
that's what you'd go with at quarterback. No, I'm not
too crazy about the game either way, to be honest.
All right, Well, when we come back more from the

(01:34:27):
locker room after Week two, the second Sunday of the
NFL season, Next with Arnie and Plank on a Fox
on A Fox Sports Radio. It's Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you live from the
Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. Arnie there is. I've had
a hard time wrapping my mind around a football player

(01:34:49):
basically quitting at the half. I don't know why. I mean,
in any other walk of life if you work at
in a in an office, someone deciding I'm done here
and just quitting, like all right, man, jobs before and
not come back. Yeah, I mean, come on, it it
happens in life. Go look at watch the movie office space.

(01:35:11):
Do you just leave a c p A at one
point and you just walked away from it? Well, I
I don't have any accounting background, so you know that
wouldn't really help you out. I still was a c
p A, but I mean football player leaving at halftime
and not just leaving, but basically letting everyone know, yeah,

(01:35:34):
I'm I'm retiring, guys, I'm done showering, changing, getting in
the car going home. I understand, And maybe my little
brain can't comprehend this, but I would understand sitting there
for a little bit, talking yourself through it, maybe going
to your teammate or friend that you trust, and all right, well,

(01:35:55):
I'll get back out there and finish this. It's not
making emotional decision that like that kid that's wanted the
tram traft that they lost to Kentucky. Huh well, now
not keeping mining already. You act like he was in
the locker room and went to the other locker room,
but that I don't even think he was on the team.
I think he had been injured. So my point this
was a dude that was in the locker room. He
was there, or whenever they gave their pregame speech, he

(01:36:16):
tweeted the hard work, grying all the stupid things that
people try to tweet to let you know they're working
out and next thing you know, he's gone. Many people
have heard about it. This was Lorenzo Alexander, the linebacker
for the Bills, who was stuck trying to explain what
happened to the media. You've seen anything like that, You're
gonna never seen it ever, Pop Warner, high school, college pros,

(01:36:39):
never heard of and never seen it. And it's just
completely disrespectful to his teammates. And he said, saying nothing
to nobody. You know as much as I know, I know,
I found out going in the second half of the game, Uh,
coming out and saying they said he's not coming out
he retired, So so said what I mean, guys heard

(01:37:07):
about it and said that he wasn't coming back out
and it was a nice day out. I why not
at least say faking injury and hang out. It's a
beautiful day. Why we even halftime? I can understand if
it was like snowing and it was cold and you're like,
I don't even want to go back out there, But
it was a nice day out. What what do you
go just that's happen in Buffalo, Man, It's not It's

(01:37:27):
it's not tough enough. Like we got through one week
with you know what the they kept bringing up the
Bills getting blown out in the Ravens game earlier this week. Oh,
they kept reference in four seven, three, four or sevent three.
So now next week, all the references Vonte Davis retiring
at halftime. It's like it's if it's not one thing,
it's another buffalo so badly needs just one winner, just

(01:37:50):
one winner. It's like it's a dark cloud, you know,
like like the kid from the Peanuts that the cloud
over his head. Just one winner to remove that cloud out.
It's been hanging over and for so long. There's probably
some guy somewhere that is realizing everything that he had
prayed forward during that final week of the regular season

(01:38:11):
is now he's having to pay up. There's some dudist like, listen,
I don't care what it takes, big man upstairs. Just
let Andy Dalton lead the Ravens to a touchdown against
all Right, all right, lead the Bills too, touching on
against the Ravens. Let us get the playoffs, and I promise,
I don't care if we ever went again. I just
want to get in the playoffs. Please. And then when
it happens, you realize it's great. We're going to the

(01:38:32):
playoffs and then you oh wait, you were listening to
all that. Damn you, you were actually paying attention, big man.
I mean, come on, this is embarrassing enough. It has
a fun little playoff game we had, But does anybody
ever go to the playoffs and then come back the
following year to go oh and sixteen? This might be
a first Listen, the Bills aren't gonna go. But it's
it's real. It's got to be so frustrating, man. And

(01:38:54):
I know radio guy sitting here letting you know how
frustrating it is does nothing but anger you even more.
I just can't fathom a team that went to the
But I see my wife. In Dallas and in Buffalo, Arnie,
you had teams that had gutty, gritty little rosters at Oh,
let's start messing with it a little bit, and the

(01:39:14):
next thing you know, they're all awful. Right now outside
the Cowboy. My wife is a Bills fan. The very
first present I bought her when we were dating was
a throwback Buffalo Bill's helmet for her birthday. How about that?
Do you realize if I bought my helmet that I
would have the couch sitting out of the yard were married,
and it was a throwback the old Bills. You know

(01:39:35):
what it was like, like the O. J. Simpson type helmet.
Oh my god, I gotta get this. How thoughtful that is.
She's a big Bills fan. I'm I'm seeing the helmet.
What a great present that was. Well you still have her,
so I guess it worked right. It wasn't a good present.
I can hear the murmuring in the background, but that well,
I will say this much. It's better than my wife

(01:39:55):
calling me with eight minutes to go in the game
and wanting to tell me about her trip. And I'm
and do you go in the game? You know what
she said? I love my wife ten years? She goes,
can't you just pause it? And I'm thinking to myself,
I can't because I'm on Twitter while I'm watching it.
I got the red Zone channel up, so if I pause,
it's gonna screw up my whole function that I got
going on that party. I tell my wife, do you

(01:40:17):
know what I do for a living? Do you understand
what I do for a living? When she tells me
that I can't watch a game, I always walk outside
to the driveway and and I turned and I pointed
to the house and I'm like, here, this is why
we watched sports. Now. With that said, let me get
back to talking sports before I lose that house. To me,
I still think one of the best stories going period
this season is what's going on in Tampa right now.

(01:40:39):
And Ryan Fitzpatrick is absolutely living, love and enjoy every
minute of this. He was on fire earlier today. Here
was his touchdown to former Ain Maggie Mike Evans got
done form from and Barbara side car to the left.
Chip was why I fetched Pathrick Evans wide to the
right side, dropping switch Patrick sold was a frost fought
fall touch out. Tip of my fire, Kevin why a

(01:41:00):
strike ran Jean decker Hoff, the legendary voice of the Buccaneers,
by the way, also the voice of Florida State. Things
going much better for him on Sunday than on Saturdays.
Florida State, Florida Miami were all this bad combined. Oh
it's horrible. Oh it's just not pretty. But what was
pretty was Ryan Fitzpatrick's get up in the postgame press

(01:41:22):
conference where he what do you have like a leisure
suit and a jumpsuit on? Had the the chest hair
show too. Don't forget the blame had the gold chain going,
he said, he uh, he robbed a certain teammates locker.
I got like two more jack needs and stuff there. Yeah,

(01:41:45):
I borrow your stuff? Sorry, what is yours? The chest hairs?
All right, so it's the stand up comedy time with
Ryan Fitzpatrick. But but he but he wasn't done. It's nothing.
I mean, I think we just have to stay humble,
you know, we gotta make sure we know how to
handle success and all those things. Uh, so we can't

(01:42:06):
change who we are again. I don't know how long
it's gonna last. I don't think they're gonna pull the
plug on him. If Winston gets healthy, I think they're
gonna have a hell of a game next week against
the Pittsburgh Steelers. But of all the stories early on
in the season, this is a pretty fun one to
follow out of Tampa, right The biggest surprise right now
in the NFL Tampa Bay Buck and there sitting at
two and oh with him. It's uh, it's a story

(01:42:28):
that nobody really saw coming and you couldn't even imagine it.
He's played so well that now we're deciding whether jamis
Winston is gonna come back and play this year, or
whether that he has even a future in Tampa. And
by the way, if you didn't have a future in Tampa,
there's I'm sure there's some other teams that may be
interested in in his likings and and and his availability.
So I mean, that's a whole another story. But that's

(01:42:50):
got to be the biggest surprise. Um, maybe Miami being two,
and oh I'm a little surprised at that, and also
the Saints being so loudy even though there one and one.
I'm I'm shocked that that one. Also, Chris could easily
be Owen two should probably be Owen. Philadelphia they couldn't
easily been too. Philadelphia could easily be owing two. Right now.

(01:43:11):
If Matt Ryan looked more like he did Sunday last Thursday?
Did I say that right? Because he was really he
was really good today. That's the Matt Ryan we know
and love. That dude that was playing against Philadelphia last
Thursday night was horrible. All right? Let me have about
to their too, and oh my goodness, see they played
on Thursday. By the time we get to Sunday, I'm

(01:43:32):
done with Thursday games. I mean, that's for the Friday guys.
All right, we we got Sunday games to talk about. Now,
how's your confidence Arnie right now? In this? Dude, Eli Manning,
are you done with him? Are you ready to move on? Here?
He was post game and I'm I'm confident. I'm confident
in the guys we have. I'm confident in myself and
in the players that we have. And it's just a

(01:43:53):
matter of guys just working together. That's that's why it's
a team. And it's not four guys or five guys.
It's all eleven guys all on the same page doing
the right thing. This it's untaped to be successful and
to fix this? Is this all guys playing a little
bit better? Okay? Boy, how many coaches did he get
in there all at once? Um? You know the thing
about Eli is it's not all his fault. He's right

(01:44:13):
about that. They didn't have the running game going today
we're with se Kwon Barkley caught out of the backfield,
but um, you know, the fourteen catches, but as just
a straight off handoff he was nowhere to be found.
The running game was nowhere to be found. Um, really,
you've got to think about moving on from Eli after
the next couple of years, maybe enough the next year
or this year. Um, just the money you've invested in him,

(01:44:35):
and now you've cost yourself a chance to get your
future quarterback because all the quarterbacks last year, you could
have had a good one at number two. Instead you
go with the running back and now you've you've passed
on any future quarterbacks that they really put themselves in
a strange situation, a bad situation. Chris, and I know
I'm not gonna start talking NFL draft for next year.

(01:44:56):
Please don't thank you. I'll just say I'm not is
fired up about that quarterback crop next year, as this
past year as was, or even the year following. Now
we got a long way to go though. Hey, when
we come back to the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios,
I have ignored Twitter. Let's get after it. But first,
with everything that's going on in the world of sports,
Steve the sagers in the house, what's up, Steve. Well,

(01:45:18):
it was twenty to three Dallas at home against the
Giants late in the game tonight the final as Eli
Manning was sack six times. Rookie running back se Kwon
Barkley did have fourteen receptions in the loss eighty yards.
Jacksonville beat Tom Brady and the Patriots thirty one to
twenty as Blake Bortles had four touchdown passes at Denver
nine two degrees at kickoff, hottest in Broncos history for

(01:45:40):
a home game. They were down late third quarter to
the Raiders nineteen to seven, but on a late field
goal beat Oklan twenty nineteen and Denver blocked an extra
point try late in the first half, wound up winning
by one. Arizona Cardinals, which is five first downs for
the whole game, got shut out thirty four nothing in
l A against the Rams. Todd Gurley with three touchdown runs.

(01:46:00):
San Francisco held on thirty to twenty seven over Detroit
le Garrett Blunt, now with the Lions, was kicked out
defending his quarterback after a hit. Jimmy Garoppolo was sacked
six times but had a couple of touchdown passes. Matt
Breed of San Francisco, on only eleven carries, had a
hundred thirty eight yards, including a sixty six yard t
d run. Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City with six touchdown

(01:46:22):
passes only five in completions in the win at Pittsburgh
two to thirty seven. Pittsburgh had thirty three first downs
and still lost the home game. Ben Roethlisberger thirty nine
of sixty passing over four hundred fifty yards. He had
three touchdown passes just in the second quarter to tie
the game, touchdown run later. Antonio Brown was targeted seventeen

(01:46:42):
times Today had nine catches. Juju Smith Schuster of the
Steelers targeted nineteen times. He finished with thirteen catches for
one one and a score, and Pittsburgh loses well. Minnesota
Green Bay wound up a tie after overtime twenty nine.
All Vikings missed a thirty five yard goal attempt on
the final play. Rookie draft Joyce Daniel Carlson went over

(01:47:04):
three on field goals to misses in the overtime. At
least Minnesota's home to the Bills next Atlanta. It's just
dealing with facts at the news desk. Atlanta and the
Chargers with wins. Tampa Bay in Miami, as well New
Orleans and Tennessee each got wins with late field goals.
The Titans did not have Marcus Mariota. He didn't play

(01:47:25):
with the elbow injury, and they still beat the Texans
seventeen because they got an early touchdown on a fake punt,
so it didn't matter that they didn't have much offense
Houston with eleven penalties. Today, the Houston Texans have lost
eleven of their last twelve games. And I must repeat
the Cleveland lost you mentioned earlier on the show about
Zane Gonzalez and the Browns. They lost on the lake

(01:47:46):
field goal at New Orleans eighteen. Gonzalez missed four kicks,
two field goal attempts, and both extra point tries. They
lost by three and Indianapolis to nine win at Washington
by far the lowest ever crowd at FedEx Field for
a Redskins game in the regular season and they've been
there over twenty years. Instead of the usual seventy seven thousand,
they list attendants at fifty seven thousand. Yes, and Adrian

(01:48:10):
Peterson also was horrible for Washington. He did have a
fourteen yard game, but on his other ten carries just
six yards total. Redskins running back Chris Thompson had thirteen receptions,
but Washington lost at home, and Colts rookie linebacker Darius
Leonard had fifteen solo tackles. Dwyane Wade says he'll return
for one last season with the Miami Heat NASCAR winning

(01:48:32):
the playoff opener at Vegas for Brad Keslowski. Baseball. St.
Louis shut out the Dodgers five nothing tonight. And are
you guys aware that Jeff Van Gundi has been coaching
Team USA basketball during the qualifying NBA guys take over
next year, but the US this year in the qualifying
games six and one Friday night in Vegas, they beat Uruguay,
doubled the score on him, beating fifty seven. Good question. Uh.

(01:48:56):
They then got on a plane and tomorrow night it's
USA at PanAm Aw. They're using G League players mostly
this year. And then, as I say, the World Cup
of Basketball is in China with the regular guys next year,
and they just asked me to plug them. Uh, well,
we'll just skip because it's kind of obvious. NBA preseason
games started under two weeks. The n h L preseason

(01:49:17):
started this weekend with an exhibition in China. P g
A Tour Championship starts in Atlanta on Thursday. Great stuff, Steve,
What does it mean when Geico says just fifteen minutes
could save you fift or more on car insurance. Well,
I means you probably should have gone to Geico dot
com fifteen minutes ago. I want to hit some of
these tweets, aren't that I've been ignoring for too long? Uh?

(01:49:37):
Here's one from Parker. He writes, guys, thoughts on the Broncos.
Their secondary is scary and the offense is awful. Six
and ten if we are lucky, they're two and oh
right now, So you're what third of the way there?
I was about to say, what, only four games the
rest of the year. You forget that? You got the
Raiders again. Hey, hey, hey, real tough division. Though, oh

(01:50:00):
you know, we thought at the beginning of the year
that it was gonna be Kansas City of the Charges.
I still think it's that way, though I'm a little
surprised Denver off to the two and old start. Uh,
they'll probably win a majority of their home games. They
got a nice schedule with their first two games at home.
But I'm not a case Keenum guy. I dig him.
I think he's probably a good dude. But as far

(01:50:20):
as a football player being my quarterback. When John Gruden
is gushing about a dude, a guy being oh, this
was the best offseason acquisition. I automatically tune out, and
I've seen enough case Keenum to be done with him.
I don't understand the tweet by Mike, and he tweets
all the time. I'm not figuring this out at all.
Have you seen that one that says I told you

(01:50:40):
last week it's Radio Gold in Minneapolis when the Vikings lose.
I'm not kidding. I had to find your show on
some underground dark website. You guys even talked about the
biggest embarrassment of a NFL game ever. If I missing
something here, Chris, I mean the Vikings the biggest embarrassment
all of a sudden that it's a Radio Gold they tied.

(01:51:01):
I'm not so sure. I'm I'm quite understanding about Wow
one oh and one is you know, all of a
sudden desperate need for help here. I think though the
way that it all played out, it was one game,
though it was not very well officiated, and that's kind
of Mike's point. Everyone loses their mind whenever you have
one game not go their way. I mean, Arnie, you're
you're you've basically pinned an obituary tonight for the New

(01:51:25):
England Patriots off one game, so I mean, does what
oh and one? Though? And they've got a great defense.
What are you, pat Who's what? Viking fans are sitting
there screaming bloody murder over the first two games. I
don't know you're what? Oh and what? You haven't even
lost yet. I think one of the people who's got
have been screaming a little bit of bloody murder was
Kirk Cousins. He was afterwards, he was confused. I didn't

(01:51:48):
know what to say. How do you feel about? He goes,
I don't we tied? You know what, though, you've been
good for me when it comes to not getting too
carried away. Try to change things. Because when you and
I started doing this show together, I'll never forget. I
think it was what shows you how long we've been
doing this together. I think it was the NFC North

(01:52:10):
that had every team in under I'm sorry, it was
the NFC South had every team in about under five
hundred and a team made the playoffs at like seven
and nine, and I was all helping. You've got to
reset the way you structure. The lead was Seattle. That
was Seattle that got it will happened about three times
in the last eight years. But you know, you always say, listen,

(01:52:32):
calm down, It's just it's not gonna be and and
every year thing best teams are gonna get in period.
This is gonna be an anomaly. I know that we've
had two ties and back to back weeks. It's an
anomaly because it hasn't happened since nineteen seventy one. I
believe the saker has been saying all night long, but
I can't help. I can't help Arnie, but think the

(01:52:54):
NFL has to do something. All these years and all
the times we've had through the year, I'm still not
sure if it hurts to get a tie or helps
to get a tie at the end of the year
when we're looking at the you know, division standings, and
if that tie doesn't help them or hurt them so
with the division, I still can't figure it out. I
know a loss sucks, Captain obvious here tonight, next week,

(01:53:17):
take it easy, everybody, But you would have to think, Arnie,
somewhere in the NFL offices, somewhere with owners that chat
our general managers who have the ears of their owners,
somebody is saying, you know, we gotta do something about
this overtime. We can't have games ending and ties, as
unique as it might be. I mean, is it time

(01:53:37):
to address maybe the college model? Is it? I mean,
I know, well here's tweeked the last couple of years.
Well here's the answer. And I even have to hate
to bring it up as I get fired for this. Um.
Hockey used to have ties, um, and they took that out.
Of course with the shootouts you get the extra period
or the the extra five minutes and then the shootouts.
Did hockey become any more popular? Did the ratings go

(01:53:58):
up that we took ties out? I'm not sure I have.
I have no idea, to be honest with you on that.
So let me counter with this. Is it about making
the sport more popular? Or is it about actually getting closure?
I don't know, not having a time. I don't know.
It's a great question. A couple of other tweets here
real quickly, I mean, oh, go ahead, bub, I'm sorry.

(01:54:20):
How would you break a time in the NFL? Though? Like,
you don't want to just keep going and going, so
you do the twenty five yard line, and and and
even after the third touchdown, instead of kicking extra points,
you go to force some which would end up making
the potential of really long games that long, it won't
go past like three or four overtimes at the most, right,

(01:54:41):
and that's a lot. That's a lot of overtimes if
you're looking at that, like three or four, not fifteen
minutes of overtime. We're talking about like three four possessions
just to the college. Yeah, that that type of thing.
In other words, you take the clock out of the game.
You basically say this is about starting you here, and
maybe since it's the NFL, you push it back to

(01:55:02):
the thirty five. I don't know, but I would I
would love to see them adopt that, even even if
it's in the preseason, to just test it out and
see how it would work. I think it'd be great.
You know, how many times do we find out that
if you got the remember the old way, if you
got the ball first, you only one overtime, but like
fifty one percent of the time, and then we change that,
we go way, that can't happen because we've got overtime.

(01:55:24):
People went out, they but we happened of the time overall, Yeah,
we have to score touchdown or the other team gets
the ball right and that's the way it used to be, though,
do we have time, Arnie, The Titans, led by Gabbett,
will meet your Dolphins in the a f C Championship game.
That the Chiefs are just paper champions at this point,
but Dolphins clearly for real. You get mad at me

(01:55:45):
for not reading tweets, and then you stomp all over
their tweets. Darryl Rights, I'd like to go ahead and
think the New York Football Giants, for participating in the
football season, may as well forfeit the rest of the
games and save our eyes. Uh. And then and then
one more from Casey, who writes I was uncertain about
this year is a Chief fan, but Mahomes looks to
be the real deal. Offenses on fire. If we get

(01:56:08):
Eric Barry back to help shore up the defense, look out.
I can't argue with that too much. They're looking good
so far, all right. Everyone's been waiting for it. We've
been counting down to it all night long. Arnie's picks
will take us home next and get you ready for
a big Ben Mallard, It's Arnie and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio Fun Show Tonight flew by thanks to Bobo

(01:56:31):
breaking out a little of the new eminem thanks to
e Rob all the great editors man so much awesome
sound that you'll hear not only through Ben's a show tonight,
but that we played. So appreciate all their hard work.
And Steve de Seger speaking of Ben Mallard, Big Ben
coming up next to take you through the early morning,

(01:56:52):
late night. I can imagine Ben is gonna be little
fired up over Fonte Davis leaving at the half, so
that all those out Way guys bother me. Everybody back
in Los Angeles, it's like they, Oh, we're Ram fans. No,
I mean we're Raider fans. I mean we're Charger fans,
and we're the every year they change your team, I'm
getting little sick of that. You know, I was just
giving him credit on helping out with the shot. Had

(01:57:13):
to say that man has to enjoy embrace it. Great news.
You could save money to switch the Geico. Go to
Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say
fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Good question or
point here from t J. Before we get into your kicks,
Aren'tie are our picks? It's about a kick? Arnie Minnesota

(01:57:34):
and Cleveland, will be looking for a kicker. You should
give kicking a shot. The Packers gave Carlson a game ball,
the Vikings told him to find his own way home.
I think the Vikings are your best shot. Lebron may
end up kicking for Cleveland. What do you think Aarnie
for Minnesota? Is it so? I wish I could kick?
That's one thing I can't do. I think I could

(01:57:56):
make an extra point though, um, the old extra point
now it's just too far away for me to boot that.
But it's so tough to get a kicker in the
NFL nowadays, especially when you've got so many great ones
out there. Uh and teams? What about what's his face?
Bailey for the Cowboys, the old kicker for the Cowboys.
Why why are people I'd rather go with somebody like him? Yeah,

(01:58:16):
Dan Bailey still looking for a job. Former Oklahoma State
and Dallas cowboy. I think with him right now. Well,
and the Raiders, you know, it's funny. We've talked about
the Vikings kicking situation. We've talked about the Browns. The
Raiders loose today because they can't make a damn extra point.
Now that might not have been on the kicker that
was more on the blocking, but still always blame the kicker.
With that in mind, let's wrap it up the only

(01:58:38):
way we know how Arnie, it's uh, you know, I
was looking at the games. Give me a little music,
put me in the mood. I'm gonna give you three
college football games, but I'd rather get to the really
high profile games. Nothing really stuck out at me when
I was looking at the line. Um. Obviously one team
inside the top twenties. Penn State. Uh, they're gonna be
going to Illinois, who's just stinks. I had to watch

(01:58:58):
one of their games against Kent State the beginning of
the year that they came back in one. But I'm
gonna take Penn State minus twenty six and a half
even if you care about that game. No, tre Dame
has not been impressive against Ball State. They weren't impressive
against Vanderbilt, so I gotta give in the build credit.
I want to take Wake Forest plus the seven half
against nore Dame and look for the upset there. And
TCU in Texas, Look, USC is not a great team.

(01:59:21):
Texas pretty much put the you know, put the the
handles to them. TCU had Ohio State beat if it
won't for that horrible five minutes in the third quarter
where they got outscored twenty to nothing. They were turning
the ball over left and the right. Now, it's gonna
be tough for TCU to get up again, but they're
the better team. Give me TCU minus the two and
a half against Texas. Let me get some stuff in

(01:59:42):
the NFL. I'm all over the Cleveland Browns. They will
get their win. They will beat the Jets. The bud
Light Refrigerators will opens it. Bud Light, Chris, is that what?
Bud Light refrigerators will open up and my kids gonna
be there. Take get one. Give me the Browns minus
the three. I'm going to stick with my Miami Dolphins.

(02:00:04):
Um a small price to pay for even though Oaka
look good today, But to go into Miami and that
defense hopefully may even get some offense going. Give me
the Dolphins minus the four. Can you believe I'm gonna
lay sixteen and a half with the Minnesota Vikings against Buffalo,
But they're Buffalo and they're the Vikings. I mean I'd
lay twenty six and a half. Give me Minnesota minds

(02:00:26):
to sixteen and hal and here's the big one. I
don't want the six and a half. I don't need
the six half. I'm gonna take the six and a half.
Detroit back on track beats the Patriots after the Patriots
have a let down with that terrible loss to Jacksonville.
Give me the Lions plus the six and a half
over the Patriots and they will win the game. Chris.

(02:00:47):
So there you have my picks. Do with them as
you please, but remember they're strictly for entertainment purposes only.
Clap clap, clap, thank you, thank you, thank you. You're
really taking the Lions over, sir. Do you do you
do that thing where you talk trash on the Patriots
here and then when you get on your local show
you build them all up. Game I ripped the we

(02:01:10):
were having a viewing watch party. I said, come on
out and watch the game with me while we see
the Patriots lose. Well, you you were right on that one.
I mean to be real honest with you. Uh, Josh Gordon,
here's a pick for you. Does he have a job
by the time we're back on the air next Sunday?
How about this? Will he play next week? No, he
won't have a job. He won't play. It will take

(02:01:33):
a couple of weeks to the you know, straighten this
whole thing out. No, he won't be on a team,
all right? And uh is are we talking about the
three and oh Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday? Do they
do it against the Steelers? No, the Steelers are just
gonna be too tough for them. And plus, you know
what's everybody crepping on the Steelers for? I mean, just

(02:01:54):
because they had a tough game against Kansas City. No,
I'm not buying into the whole Tampa Bay thing just yet.
Give me the Steeler. Now. You might notice that Arnie
sticking up for Pittsburgh because he has already proclaimed them
to be his Super Bowl pick, so he'll defend them
until they get beat by Tampa Bay. And from to
oh two and one, Arnie, have an awesome week. Can't

(02:02:15):
wait for next Sunday Night. Should be fun. We'll have
tons of games to recap as well. Big Ben Mallard
coming up next. Go check out our podcast Fox Sports
Radio dot com for bobbo I robbing the Crew on playing.
We'll see you next week.
