It looks like a flu game for my partner today, VJ.
Are you feeling all right?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Caven here doing the elbow dap, got a little watery eyes,
confidence season.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Man?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
I've had a hillacious week. I did, guys, I had
a hillacious week, not a bad week, because there's no
such thing as bad days and bad weeks. Just some
days and weeks are tougher than others. But yeah, I'm
playing a little injury to that. I got my You
can lift this oil here. You just seen me sniffing
That normally clears up the sign It says, clear up
the brain.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
But yeah, man, now it smells like massage envy in
the studio. There you go, spat spa day baby. This
is this is Burke William, This is Martin VJ. Presented
by Burke William.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Can I get some cucumber water please? First of all,
it's the cucumber and mint water. Yes, and some Asian
hot stones, Oh my god, yes, baby, a little massage,
a manicure, pedicure, and ah, what is an avocado facial?

Speaker 2 (01:15):
You know, never had a fishal had a lot of
other stuff, never never a fish.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You don't need one. You're cool, thanks, Bud said, he said,
I got good skin.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Cool.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I think everybody here though, I don't think anybody here
needs a facial. Pat's got good, young skin, Mary's got
good Mary's got beautiful skin. Mary's got that smooth brown
like chocolate Hershey type of thing going. And then of
course then of course me. You know, I'm the big vanilla.
So this is this is like you know, you ever
see a perfect honey comb from from like the Cereal,

(01:43):
the Serreal honeycomb. You ever pull a perfect honeycomb out
of your bowl, man, and look at that, bad boy,
it's perfectly just colored.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
It's really good Cereal.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Thank you very much, baby, honey combes. Baby, That's why
I think vanilla man. So yeah, I'm cool, I'm cool.
I'm just I'm not gonna probably get this hype today
because I don't want to be coughing all on the air.
But hallacious week.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I know one thing that had me hype as I
was listening to the radio on the way in. I
was listening, you know, super excited for this Western Conference
somebody final between the Timberwolves and the Nuggets. And I'm
listening to the Timberwolves broadcast. That's pretending straight whatever team
I'm rooting for, listen to the home broadcast. Yeah I want,
and I'm I picked the timber Wolves in this series.
Oh bidji, we'll get to that. We'll do that about

(02:24):
five six minutes. I was gonna say this real quick
when I heard that Carlyon Town's got a foul on
the opening tip. Oh my, oh my god, here we go.
Here we freaking go yet again. Karl Anthony Towns doing
I mean, just just amazing some of the things that
this man does on a basketball card. Now, I don't
mean that as a compliment. Sometimes it's just like what

(02:45):
on Earth? Or you're thinking, what were you doing? But anyway,
the Nuggets right now and the Timberwolves tied up and
not tied up Denver with a two point lead as
approaches halftime. Monty Bolanos will be all over that throughout
the rest of the day. What are your initial thoughts
on the series? VJ Man, This.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Might be one of my favorite second round series in
the Western or Eastern Conference. I've seen him probably, I
don't know, Man, maybe the last four or five years. Man,
you talk about stars defending champions, a guy that people
think is next, and speaking of next with Anthony Edwards,
can we stop the MJ comparisons? I got one for you, guys,
and you're all gonna love it. He's not MJ. He's

(03:24):
not MJJ yet, but do you do you know who?
He really does? Remind me of young budding right before
he hit the prime Dwayne Wade. Flash that watch his game.
That's flash right there. You guys gotta go back and
put back on. Oh what what that would be like?
Oh six oh seven tape of Dwayne Oh fourteen fight

(03:44):
of Dwayne Wade when he just he didn't even look
like he knew what he was doing. He was just bawling,
dunking over everybody, leaping and blocking people, hitting half court
buzzer beaters, scoring forty to fifty points. I mean, just
locking guys up, ripping guys in the open court, picking
their pocket and going the other way for it was
just crazy. And that's why when they got Shock, everybody's like, Oh,

(04:07):
they're gonna championship. They're gonna win the championship. I mean
because Shack hack Cole. But now you're giving Shack this way.
This kid from Marquette, he that's who he reminds me of.
But getting a chance to cover the Nuggets up closing
person over the last two to three weeks, Man several
times for regular season games and then and the playoffs
against the Lakers. This is just a complete basketball team.

(04:30):
Joe Kich is that guy. I was a little worried,
and I think I mentioned this to you last week
about Jamal Murray. He has not been shooting well, even
though he's hit two game winners in that series one
he had two really good fourth quarters.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yeah, but I'd say overall for the series, not what
we were, you know, especially when you consider the last
time the Lakers played the Nuggets in the playoffs when
Jamal Murray was a certified serial killer exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
So then you look at the Timberwolves. You and I've
been talking about a def travels man. This is going
to be as you see right now and there at
the half and neither team top fifty because defense is
going to be the factor in this series, but the
number one factor for me in this entire series. And
why I'm going Nuggets. And I want to say seven

(05:16):
because I would love a seven game series here, but
this could be six and just all really close games.
It's just Michael Porter Junior, Michael Porter Jr. This kid
is coming too his own now. Most people and upset
this before, and I'll make it quick. Most people forget
this kid was the number one overall kid coming out
of high school. Everybody in they Mama wanted them. Dude, Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas,
everybody there wasn't no school that was like, yeah, we'll

(05:38):
be okay if we can't recruit Michael Porter Junior. He
was picked to be the number one overall pick. People
thought he played one year. Missouri paid the price tag
would it paid to get him and got him. He
had the two back surgeries. Young bodies though they repair
very fast and very quickly. You can see he's put
weight on, he's in the gym, those shoulders, those arms.
I had a chance to talk to him personally, face

(05:59):
to face and really just stood there talking to the
man Marvel and like, Wow, this is a big young
kid right here. Man and his jumper, his defense, his rebounded,
he is going the Wolves have to figure out how
to neutralize him, because I don't think you can neutralize Joker.
I don't think you can neutralize Murray. You gotta figure

(06:19):
out what you're gonna do with Michael Porter Junior and
then you got a shot. But if you don't give me,
give me the nuggets and six man.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So for the Lakers series, the Lakers Nugget series, that
was my kind of my takeaway, right cause the thirty
from Jokic, you expect that, Yeah, and it didn't feel
like it though, right, But it's like you kind of
you bake it in. You play Yokich he's gonna have.
This is gonna sound crazy, but you know you bake
it in that he's gonna have thirty points to twelve
to seventeen rebounds, eight to ten, twelve assists, Like you

(06:47):
just bake that in, like you understand that that's what
you're gonna get. It's like when you go to McDonald's,
I want to mc double. You know you're getting the
piece of you know what you're what you're getting. It's
the same across the world, right exactly, it's the same, man,
it tastes a little different. And Slovenia no no, no, no, no,
they got Slovenia in the same so right, so uh
and then Jamal Murray is the same thing.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
But the thing that kills you is what Michael Porter
Junior is.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I don't know, seven for ten three, you know, six
for eleven from three when he's in the midst of
going crazy.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
That's what That's what you you don't account for.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
It's like when they go to halftime at TNT they
show the teammates. You can't have Michael Porter Junior's name
pop up there if you wanted to. You know, it's
got to be Joki and Murray. Not Yokis Murray and
Michael Porter Junior. Is Aaron Gordon's gonna do his thing,
gonna rebound the basket. Yeah yeah, They're not gonna run
plays for Eric Gordon. So if you can keep him
off the glass, right and keep Michael Porter Junior as

(07:42):
a passer and not a scorer, I think you have
a good shot with this Denver team. But I'm going
with the Timberwolves. Man, I'm taking like them all year.
That doesn't surprise me. You liked them, You liked them
all year. I'm taking Minnesota in six. Oh wow, not
Minnesota and six.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
To put a two leader on that.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
The key now is making sure they got to steal
one of these two games at home, obviously, in order
to try to really make that happen. But this is
the type of stuff that I you know, I just
look at where the NBA is in this point in time,
and I don't think the Turberwolves is anybody. I don't
think the Nuggets have anybody to guard Anthony Edwards.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
And I think this is his coming out party. You
let them go get his though. Look at like right now,
they got this stet twenty five points. The rest of
the team it was fifteen. So here's the thing. If
I'm if I'm Mike, Mike or Michael, whatever's going by now,
I'm alone he's Michael. Now, go get yours, Go get
We saw this with Popovich with Lebron in Miami. Go
get yours. So everybody on the talk shows can next

(08:39):
morning can say how you went and got forty and
thirteen and eleven? Okay, fine, But if everybody else is
shooting twenty two percent from the field eighteen percent from
the field nineteen, I will take that all day long,
and I'll take a one point win, and it'll be Man,
they almost had if they could just get somebody else.
If the narrative of this series is gonna be if

(09:01):
they can just get somebody else to score with Anthony Edwards,
this is over and six his coming out party will
be there. But we saw this with way go back to.
I think it was the Pacers back in the day
where they had Paul George and and uh David West. Yeah,
Paul George and David West and the way I think
pushed them to like a six game series and that

(09:21):
was all man. Did you see what Wade did? But
they had nothing else. Nobody else is that consistent. Go
Bear's not gonna go get that for you. Town's is
gonna shoot too many threes and too many jumpers in
order for him to be effective enough over a seven
game series to offset what Anthony Edwards is gonna do.

(09:42):
I didn't get a chance to watch too much because
of course we're both coming into the studio. I was
listening to it like yourself, but I'll go back home tonight. Man,
when I try to well myself and rewatch and go, okay,
let me see how are they letting him if they're
guarding him one on one and like, dude, go to
what woo wooll try to d you up? Sure, but
go get yours. We're not gonna let you have twenty
five and twelve assists because then that means somebody else

(10:04):
is going. But if you got thirty five thirty seven
at the end of his game, five dimes, seven boards,
and a two point loss, hey, brother, go get yours.
So I think that might actually be strategic. But I'm
with you, there's just nobody. I don't know if there's
anybody in the league that can guard him, not just
the Nuggets Martin, I don't know. I don't think there's
a guard in the league that can guard Anthony Edwards

(10:26):
right now.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I think Anthony Edwards at this point is at the
place where you're trying your best to.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Bother him, right you know, it's like make it tough.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Who was now he used to work in ESPN, who
used to wear the bell ties because Ruben Patterson Keva
said he was the Kobe stopper and the other guy
came out.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
He played for the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Bruce Bruce Bawn Bruce Baw and Bruce said he was
the Kobe botherer, right, So I think you're out of
place now with Anthony Edwards where you're trying to bother him.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
You know what I'm saying. You're trying to bother him.
Make him work, make them work as hard as possible.
For his point, Grant Hill said the same thing about Kobe.
He's like, you're not gonna stop him. You got to
just make him work as hard it's possible. Dirk is
sitting here on the TNT broadcasting, which is really cool
to see. I've always been a huge Dirk fan, and
he's a smart basketball guy. But when like when you
were playing dirt, you're not stopping seven foot with the

(11:11):
leg up me in a way to separate so you
can't block his shot, fall away jump shot dirt. You're
not gonna stop that dirt. But you gotta kind of
bother him. You gotta kind of get him off his spot.
If you let him get to the elbow, it's over.
If you let him get to the baseline, it's over.
You gotta just try to make it hard for him,
and I think that's what they'll do with Anthony Avers.
Go get your points, young man, but we're gonna try
to bother you as much as we can. But if

(11:33):
nobody else is gonna score over twenty points, there's no
way they're winning this here.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
The final point that I had, the reason why I
picked Minnesota in this series is because I thought, you know,
with the idea that Jamal Murray has not been playing
like you started out, Jamal Murray has not been playing
up to the level that we have expected out of
Jamal Murray up to this point in his career, especially
when you consider.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
They shooting horribly exactly.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
He's a guy who is you know, people say this
is like, how come he was never an All Star? Well,
when you look at the All stars who make it
in the Western Conference.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Sometimes, well, okay, I can kind of see.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Why Jamal Murray wasn't this tough out of guards, prime
time proven playoff performer. He's a four p guy right there,
prime time proven playoff performing pig that five.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Times fast drop, that save, that save that yeah, say
that's ours, tell all the other shows leaving on that's Martins.
So now, so he's a four p guy.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
You know what I'm saying, But he has not been
evidence by what we saw in the first round objectively
from his performance what we're used.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
To seeing, not like that.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
But then it comes out, bang, Anthony Davis, would you
like that for game two? Oh?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Can I help you with another one? The Clintons, Yeah,
they closed the door. Would you like another? Right?

Speaker 2 (12:49):
And so if he keeps playing like that, though, I
think that Minnesota's defense is so good that it's gonna
be too hard to turn it on in the fourth quarter, Right,
it's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
This is a game is gonna serious? To me? That
comes down to how well does Yokic play?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
And when you got Minnesota, this is probably the best
team matched up to defend against Jokic with Rudy. You
got the combination of Rudy, Gobert, Carl, Anthony Towns and
nas Reed. You know what I said the other day,
it's fourteen for the man. That's twenty one feet a man.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
When the county as well, Right, that's that's twenty one.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Feet a dude who can go ahead and body with
Jokic and make it harder for him.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Murray Ozero for five in the first half, you see
what I'm saying now for five. But if you flip
to Minnesota, Anthony Edwards ten or seventeen, the next closest
person Carl Daniels, oh for six, called Anthony three of seven.
It's not go beart one of three. Stop it, stop
it and listen. Here's the thing. I'll take that Jamal

(13:48):
Murray right now, because it doesn't matter how you win it,
just Matt, did you win? What's the bottom line? Did
you win? Sure? So the games are closed? Old the games, okay,
who's home and who's not? Plus take the playoffs and
some level look good. Yes, exactly. Sometimes with Dan TONI
that's one of his famous Sometimes the other guy's good

(14:09):
like you. They's just it's just is what it's like
in boxes. Hey, sometimes the other guy lands a punch.
It just is what it is. But if you're if
that's the shooting seventeen shots for him, the next closest
person with only seven off the bench, that they're getting
nothing on they shooting thirty six percent. Uh as a
team twenty six percent from three four fifteen, I just

(14:29):
don't think over the span of a series that's that's
I don't think that's gonna get it done. Well.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Luckily, it's not over the span of a series quite yet.
It is only over the span of the first half,
so we will see what happens as this game progresses. Uh,
but your official pick right now, you said the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, give me Nuggets in six. Yeah, give me the
Nuggets in all close games though. These games are gonna
be all close. But I'm leaning on the defending champions
to snatch one on the road, because that's what champions do.
They don't just win all their home games, real champions
and they go get a road winning the series. That's
what real champion just go to look through history, That's
what real champions do. Yeah, I expect I think that.

(15:07):
I just think that the.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Timberwolves are a deeper team than Denver. I think Denver
lost a lot in the postseason, I mean the offseason
last year, and I think it'll probably bear its head
as we see coming through right now. But again, you know,
I am picking against the champions, which is never a
great place to be coming up next. Let's go ahead
and break this down because this is like we're in
this weird time right now, VJ in the NFL, where

(15:32):
it's like I like.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
To say this. I believe what.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
I believe what makes sense, right, I believe what makes sense.
What we're logical, minerological, I believe. Yeah, I believe what
makes sense here, you know what I'm saying. And this one,
oh god, I just read I just read it. Okay,
Calling Tom Fuller, Yeah, calling BS.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I don't buy it. I would buy with your money.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
I don't buy it one bit. And I'm gonna tell
you why. Coming up next, Martin and Vja. Fox Sports Radio.

may have occurred to the dugout maybe in the nineteen eighties.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
It's the Book of Joe Podcasts.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
I can't wait for this, Joe.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
We're going to dive into what goes on in the
dugout and behind the scenes in Major.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
League Baseball, cars, wind whatever else we want to talk about.

Yeah, well, there are no boundaries, right.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Oh, get out, all right, Martin and Vjay coming to
you live from the ti iraq dot com studios. If
you don't like the I'm sorry if you If you
don't like, well, I was reading I was reading this
article about the reference is that if you don't like
the show, put a direct all your tweets.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
To Patrick Sweeka.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
If you do, just tweet us at Martin Wise. That
the big vanilla funny of course at Fox Sports Radio.
But what I was getting to is the story that
I did not like. It was on Cam Hayward's Not
for Football, Not Just Football podcast where Jalen Warren said
Justin Fields potentially could be returning kicks.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
The Steelers have since shut this down.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
According to Steele, Curtain Network's Jeff Hartman, Steve's cousin on
Pittsburgh Building, says the rumors of fields are quote preposterous
and that it would never happen. They go on to
say it's quote complete effing horsecrap.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
And I will say good.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Because if you were about to have Justin Fields returning
kicks as I don't want to steal with VJ just
said the commercial break, but it was a good one.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
You're absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I'll just say this, what are you trading for a
backup quarterback to return kicks for?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Yeah? Cut him and let him go. They're trying to
ruin this kid man. I don't know what secrets does
Justin Fields know? Like what did he do to somebody?

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Like?

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Who girl? Who girl did he mess with behind their back?
Like what's going on? It's almost been like a conservative effort,
like to ruin this kid man, like returning kicks in
the simple fact that a player said, that's told mart
doing commercial break. He got it from somewhere. He didn't
make it up in damnself.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Some coach, someone in the coaching circle of that team
threw it out there joking.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
No, you weren't joking. They always do this with certain
types of players. Oh we can, we could use him here.
Do you guys remember Cordell's Stewart. I'm old enough to
remember Cordell's Stewart not hearing about it. I lived through Slash,
I lived through Martin LL know about this. The hell
Mary passed in Week three back in nineteen ninety four
against Michigan to beat Michigan. Cordell's stewart to Michael Westbrook,

(18:45):
who was then drafted by the Washington Redskins now to
Washington Commanders as a wide receiver, and then when he
got drafted by the Steelers, they were trying to figure
out what to do with him. He did everything. He
played running back, he played receiver, he even punted one time,
and played Denny was in trench as the starting core back.
But Bill Cowarder gave him the nickname Slash because he
had done so many things. If you want to do

(19:06):
something like that with Justin Phiel's all right, But to
say that we might have him returning kicks, do you
know how dangerous that is?

Speaker 2 (19:13):
For a quarterback to return kicks. All it takes is
one idiot.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
One practice squad player that got moved up because of
an injury to not stay in his lane and block
a guy and for him to get blind side, hit low,
hit to the knee or the hip or something, and
it's over.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
And then people go, oh, what hell them out there
returning kicks? Well, yeah, yeah, dummy, we're all thinking that.
We're all thinking, how is this even talked about? This?

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Was this pissed me off, man, This was mad, disrespectful.
I told Martin when I saw it, I didn't even
click on it. I kept scrolling.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
If I hadn't seen the video Kayler Warren saying it,
it would have been very much my reaction when I
saw that Michael Pennix was drafted by the Falcons.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
That's not true, that's not true. And then he see
the video. No AI advance, but not this far. Hold
on the damnit. Our video got a lot of heat
last week too, on that.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
That's not true. There's no why that happened. And then
sure enough it did happen. But again the story basically,
I mean, at this point with the reporting from Hartman
saying that it was complete effing horse crap, that's about
what it should.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Have been from start to finish. But if you're adjusting,
how do you feel, Martin, like real talk, because they're
not together, right, So everybody's in different parts of the culture,
different parts of the world. No, there's nothing going on
right now, working out in different If you hear this,
if you're just in feels, you gotta just kind of
go all right, man, Wow, yeah, okay, y'all talk about
me returning kicks. Okay, it's just illogical.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Why would you have your I mean, don't get me wrong,
backup quarterback. You love to find some more utility out
of the position. But I don't know, maybe maybe help them,
have helped call plays or something.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I don't think that on our package. Maybe a running
package form bring him in and split Russell out wide
and and some you know, some gimmick tricker reads something.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Along those lines. Yeah, that's but you know, no a
V day, you know it is not trickery. Right now,
what's up? In just about a minute, Montel will be
coming over the air doing an update, you know.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Doing he's been here since like Wednesday. This is what I'll.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Call Now I'm gonna come with another original. This is
the this is the reverse Martin. She's doing the reverse
mark she did her show. Now she's anchoring right, you know,
saying most of the time on Saturdays when U c.
L a Is playing, I'll slide in for the loquacious
and and verbose Brian Finley and then so I'll slide
it on there and then rotate right over.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
It's it's a longer walk than it should be no.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
Yeah, literally when when Dan was like.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Martin can't do both, because it was later on He's
like he can't do both.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
And I was like, yes I can. I can be
Martin for the day.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
When I looked at the schedule, I saw because I
always look for the red right because the red tells
you something different, some.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Different, And I saw I was like, what she's been
there since? Like Wednesday? Is there a cot? Did they
make a room for you? Got a bid?

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Hold on a second? We should build a cot, not
just from.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
We should Martin, we should build a sleeping room here.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
We should.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
I'll tell you this, and you know what that other
other studio over there, it's why why open? But you
know because especially when when I get off the air
at eight pm Pacific and then come back for the
eleven o'clock updates, I don't do anything. There's nothing to do.
It's like it's like a twenty minute It's like twenty
minutes do it?

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Do you go home?

Speaker 2 (22:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Why right back?

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Go home?

Speaker 2 (22:33):
But you left one night though. I'll go get I'll
go get dinner, Okay, I'll go get grub.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Okay, I'll go get dinner and then try to stretch,
dinner out for two and a half by myself, nothing
else to do.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Mars sitting at the cheesecake factory across the street. I'm
selvy and me so salmon and having no Vietnamese spring rolls.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
For the record, I don't mind eating by myself.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
I mean a lot of things by myself, many of
which are to need it. But the thing that makes
it the worst is I'm in there for like two
and a half hours.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Bart then, I mean Barton the cook. Hey you want
another one? No, man, I gotta go to work. Where
did it come from? Work? Work? Where's work? The right
across the street. I'm sorry, i gotta be people on
the side clowning. I'm like, yeah, that dude ain't got
no girl, yo. He always over here on Saturday nights.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
That's by himself. That's the other thing. It's always Saturday night.
So the rest of America is out here having a
good time, gallivating, throwing a party. You know what I'm saying.
They're over there toasting shots to Jeff's promotion, and you
know all this. You know, Sally over there is happy.
She just finished moving, you know, Mary by himself looking

(23:43):
away to the watching the replayer Jeopardy that comes on.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
You know what I'm talking about, watching the replay of
Jeopardy with the sound off. Don't get the answers right.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
I still live that in my life right now.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
So that's how I'm getting down. But you know what,
that's enough of me yapping, moncie. What's going on, my friend?

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Well, fellas, we're gonna start in the NBA.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
Obviously, Game one of the Western Conference semi finals between
the Nuggets and the Timberwolves. Denver started off a little
bit slow, which we have seen. They did the same
thing with the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
But they are on top.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
It's sixty to fifty seven halfway through the third quarter.
I mean Anthony Edwards twenty five points. He has yet
to score in the third quarter, but he does have
twenty five points. Nikola Jokic coming to life. He's got
seventeen points for Denver. Still plenty of game left right now,
Denver on top by three.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
In Major League Baseball.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
It looks like the White Sox and the Cardinals are
about to continue the game. They were on a rain
delay in Saint Louis. It is the bottom of the
tenth inning. White Sox are on top six ' five.
The bases are loaded. The Cardinals are down to their
final out. It's been all a's against the Marlins. The
Marlins lose Luis Araz who is now with the Padres,
and they literally cannot score. It is twelve zero, bottom

(24:53):
of the third inning, all Phillies against the Giants, nine
to one. Bottom of the third, Orioles outed another run.
They're beating the Reds to zero. About to start the
seventh inning. The Rangers are up seven to two against
the Royals. Bottom of the fifth. A tie game in
Tampa Bay between the Mets and the Fox. You can
catch this on Fox. It's one one. They're about to
start the sixth inning. The Mariners with another run, blanking
the Astros in Houston. You can probably also catch us

(25:14):
on Fox if you are in Houston. Three zero bottom
of the fifth, and the Padres are beating the Diamondbacks
one zero, top of the second. Other games that have
finished in baseball, the Yankees took down the Tigers Anthony
Rizzo with the three run homer five to three Blue
Jay's over the National six to three.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
The Pirates snapped their five game losing.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
Streak with the one zero victory over the Rockies, Cubs
edge the Brewers sixty five, the Twins beat the Red
Sox three to one, and the Guardians all over the
Angels seven to one. Is the final Mystic Dan wins
one hundred and fiftieth running of the Kentucky Derby. I
hate the Kentucky Derby. That's all I'm gonna tell you.
Other ESPN or other NBA news that I am gonna mention.
Mavericks big man Maxi Kleiba is expected to miss the

(25:52):
rest of the postseason after suffering a dislocation of the
AC joint in his shoulder in last night's Game six win.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Over the Clippers.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Back to you guys, thanks Montine. Don't go too far
about to say don't know too far, because I just
saw a report come down from the.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Bleacher Report app push notification allegedly Jason Kidd linked to
the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
Jayson kids still at work right now, so let's see
how that goes. You know, Jason let the man coach
is still working right now.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
But the guy coaching is he's busy.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
He's busy. I don't think he's available for an interview
right now. He's paying for the thunder. He's not leaving Dallas.
Why would he Mark Cuban, Listen, he's not not to come,
not to come coach the Lakers, right, not to come coach.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
The Lakers, especially with Groove.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
So the thing with the Lakers coach and let's just
do this now, Vja. The thing, the thing with the
Lakers head coach. This is the thing Lebron at this point,
if you wanted to call him a coach, Keller couldn't
be too mad at you about it, couldn't really couldn't
be too mad at you about it. But I also
think that there's something to the case. Like if you're
George Clooney or Brad Pitch.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
I like them, right.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
I'm just saying to the best actors of our generation, right, sure, right,
like two people that still get you to go out.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
To the movies, a top cruise, right, somebody who's still
get you to go out to the movies.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
And you pair Denzel and you pair them with a
first time director, right, And it's like Denzel said, nah, bro,
I'm not going to stand here. I need to stand
here because this is how I need to stand right,
Because He's like, look, I've been doing this since you
before you were born, you little TikToker. I've been doing this,

(27:40):
I've been doing this, I've been Have you seen Gloria
came out in nineteen eighty nine. I feel like there
has to be a level of mutual respect between director
and actor. Right for that way, you could take the
direction from either side, take take the advice from either
way that take the constructive criticisms.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
And still be like, all right.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
What I think was evident through the end of the
Lakers tenure this season was whether or not Darvin Haam
is a good coach or not. Lebron and Anthony Davis
did not respect him. You saw Lebron hop up and
down like a child who got his bottle taken away
when he wouldn't challenge the call. Right then you saw
Anthony Davis with his saying, oh, sometimes on offense and defense,

(28:26):
we just don't know.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
What we're doing. We don't know what we're doing. There's
not special teams in basketball. All you do is offensive defense. Defense.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Will say when we're out there, the Lakers are more
important than anything. If they do not hire a coach
that these two people respect, then there's no sense in
even doing it.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
They might as well just have no.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Coach because that's the person who's gonna be thrown under
the bus over and over.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
And over again. I think at this point it doesn't
matter who you hire. It doesn't matter who you hire,
and the respect is just not gonna be there. Lebron
wants a coach where he could just do what he
wants to do. That's not respecting somebody. It's like being
in a relationship. All three of us, excuse me, all

(29:10):
three of us are in relationships. Right. In a relationship,
you're not allowed to do what you want to do.
You have to give and take with your partner, or
you're gonna either be divorced or you're gonna be crying
the blues, packing your stuff, moving into an apartment, or
moving there with a fredit til you can get back
on your feet. Because you guys couldn't understand that respect
comes from both sides.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
I don't want to hear Darvin Ham can't coach. The
man's got a championship ring as an assistant.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
The man play has got a championship ring as a
player for my Pistons that beat those Lakers, that beat
Kobe and Shock and the Lakers. Darvin Ham's on that team.
When when you start rolling your eyes when you start
being demonstrative, when you start the body language. Psychologists will
tell you eighty percent of communication is body language. And

(29:58):
you mentioned Hitch listening. On the way hand, you mentioned Hitch.
Remember he was like, so basically, eighty percent of what
you're saying ain't coming at your mouth. It's not It
doesn't matter who they get these JJ stories. You gotta
be bleeping me. This kid has.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Coached nothing, not a damn thing. He already got pushed
up to call in TV, NBA, ESPN.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Fine, whatever, man, I'm I'm privileged, nepotism or whatever. Dude.
I'm not against it because if it worked for me
in my life, I would take it too. But they
I just think it's time they might have to just
blow this up because the deeper you get into it, Monci,
it's like they're three coaches now. So first it was
first it was Walton okay, and all the young guys okay.

(30:44):
Then it was Vogel and now Darvin Ham. So in
six seven years you've been through three head coaches. Two
years no playoffs, three years first round exits, the Bubble
championship in the Western Conference finals. I just like, what
are we doing.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
See, I think with the Lakers, there's a lot of
factors to it. I'm with you VJ that it doesn't
matter which coach comes in, and I'm with you Marin,
it's about respect.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
It is about respect.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
But I don't think there's anybody that's gonna come in
there because the other factor is that playing with Lebron,
anybody that's coming in as a role player is probably
going to be a young role player, young talent. They
have to be playing on egg shells around Lebron. And
if you bring in veteran role players, then you're all
of a sudden the slowest team in the NBA. Like

(31:35):
you need the young, fresh legs, but you're not letting
those guys develop because everybody.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
Is on egg shells with Lebron. And this happens with
all veterans.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
It's just Lebron is the worst of them in my opinion,
to play alongside. It's probably like your dad, like you
don't want to disappoint him, right, So everyone's.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
On egg shells.

Speaker 6 (31:53):
But I said this to carry on the last show,
all of the great ones are attached to a coach. Jordan,
Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson, Tim Duncan, Greg Popovich,
Derk Nooviski, Rick Carlisle, all of the greater the great ones,
Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Bill Belichick.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
Who is Lebron attached to.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
The coach that I think he probably one of the
few coaches that he has respected.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Is Eric's bull and he has not attached to Lebron.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
But do you want to Eric fire him? Then?

Speaker 2 (32:23):
It took a minute before like he because he was.
But the thing the other thing too about the coach
Lakers coaching situation is this, if you shop for groceries
at seven to eleven, you're going to be limited in
what you can Now, if you.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Go to your grocery store to buy the groceries.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
For Thanksgiving dinner, you're going to be limited in what
you can make. To me, the biggest issue with the
Lakers is not necessarily who is sitting in the head
coaching position. It's who's making the decisions above them. And
here's the thing. When you and the boss you can't
get fired, you own the team. You can't get fired.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Has a great position to be an owner because you
can run however you want. Speaking to what months he
was just saying. So the whole it's just basketball sound
bite that Lebron that came out. I was in that
press conference, and I know the reporter that asked him.
They didn't play the whole clip. The question that was
asked to Lebron was do you how do you feel
about the pressure that your teammates face because of the

(33:23):
pressure that's him on you. He didn't went and trying
to poke at Lebron, but he was saying, you know, basically,
these guys face a lot of pressure because of what
is you know, expected of you. You've been through so much,
all the pressure on you. He tried to dress it up.
Lebron sat there for like three seconds before he answered.
He just he posed. I'm sitting there right next to
Ramona Shellboard and Bill Pulashki's sitting in front of me,

(33:44):
and we all just kind of think at each other life.
Can we get a bag for these names he's dropping.
Mister mister knows every broadcaster he's worked with it, all
these networks over here, right god Man, let her brother
be proud. I'm advance of my career, trying to catch
up to you, Martin. But he goes into this, I
don't know, you'd have to ask him, and it's just like, bro, no,

(34:05):
you you know what this is. You know it's hard.
You could see Austin Reeves, the guy did oppressed with
his hand on his head, looking at the statue. He
looked I got the video on my phone. He looked
beat down, and I felt for him. I sat there
like wow, because I actually really like this kid. He
plays hard. He played eighty two games this year. He
gives it as all.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
He doesn't complain, he's very available, he'll he'll talk to
you there.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
But you could tell in his face it was, oh, man,
you know I didn't shoot well in the first half,
but I really tried to reassert myself in the second half.
You could tell that he was fixing his answer because
he knows. The next morning, every debate show, every radio
station and people that are bought into the narrative that
we can't blame Lebron or we can't put nothing on him.

(34:52):
So we got an AD played great. Guess what AD
played great this year? I mean, it's just it's it's
it's a tough it's a tough deal man. The coach
they bring they bring in JJ Raddick. Bro, you can't
tell me they respect him. No, you can't tell you can't.
Why would I? Why would I?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
If they brought in a producer for us right now,
Martin and gave us a producer who is a senior
in high school.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Let's be a senior in high school, be honest, would
you respect them? Martin? Off the break, off the break
walking in the door. He'd have to show me where
they would have to show me a little something more
than that.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
No, no, he he produced the high school football's high
school she or she or she?

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Sorry or she. I'll be real with you. I wouldn't
because I was. My first question would be like, year,
how old are you? When I'm seventeen? Okay? Oh wow? Uh?

Speaker 6 (35:39):
Who? Hey?

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Can somebody calls s double for me? Let me like,
what are we doing?

Speaker 2 (35:44):
They won't respect JJ Man, So I'm with you. Mar's
gotta be respect coming up next.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
If you've listened to this program before, you are aware.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
That VJ is a comedian. So sometimes I am. I
got a special coming up too. Well, you know what,
there is another special coming up up as well. You
may or may not be a part of it.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
I don't know you. In the room of Lebron Ramona
Shelburne Bill Plaski, who knows. Maybe VJ let me keep
naming them.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
He'll be righting for this spescial as well. But every
so often sports a comedy combined. We'll get to that next.
Martin VJ. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Martin VJA coming to you a lot from the tire
rack dot com studios and real quick on the game
at hand. The Minnesota Timberwolves in the Denver Nuggets. All
I gotta say is one thing to one person, James Capers.
Ain't nobody here to see you, otis ain't nobody.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Here with the whistle. God, my goodness. First it was
game five, but the Pacers in the series, the one
of the Bucks gonna win. Probably not, you know what.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
They would have helped them a lot though, if he
didn't eject Bobby Portos with four minutes into the game.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Double technical fouls left.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
The three minutes into the game on either side because
Patrick Beverley said somebody was too small to guard him.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
I don't know if you've been watching the NBA. But
Patrick Redley done all the time. You know, he does
it all the time. Who's worse? Hemmer Scott Fostern him?
Really him? This is over, Scott Falter right now? He
why now?

Speaker 2 (37:18):
On my NBA blank list, James Capers is number one
with a bullet I actually tweeted out a picture of
him a while ago and said, would you just cut
it out?

Speaker 1 (37:26):
After Anthony Edwards bodies up Reddy Jackson Jackson and.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
The bodies up, Reddy Jackson goes baseline, dunks all over
the whole damn on Denver Nuggets team and then walks past.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
He just turned around the stairs at he just started
to run.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
And looked at you that he just looked at the
guy like, what are you the police?

Speaker 1 (37:45):
Relax? Goodness great, God, Like I just let the boys play.
Are you guys old enough to remember Steve Javi as
an official? If you don't, you can see him on TNT. Yeah, yeah,
he's one because he's one of the senior guys in
the replay. But he was whole bowl. Steve Javvy was
and this was before social media, so he can get
away with a lot of the things he used to do.

(38:08):
And they used to say, Man, even Michael, even Michael Jordan.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Couldn't say, I'm sorry to off to completely derail everything.
But James Capers is interesting to derailing all these playoff games.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
So I'm forced to do it. He has forced my hand.
I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to.
But can you relax, police and let these guys play?
Let him express.

Speaker 2 (38:32):
This is a baseball right. He would have to be
boring here, right. There's no one written like just stop it, get.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
Some help stop it anyway, Tom Brady. Tom Brady roast
is already being called the.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Greatest roast of all time, which I imagine is a
playoff of goat.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
But VJ as the.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Resident comedian, that's right. What are your opinions on this?
I thought it was great, but it wasn't the best
one yet.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
It is. Uh, it happens, You're right, Sorry, it happens to night.

Speaker 7 (39:05):
Sorry.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
The way, the way I need to say it is,
I think it will be great because Tom, you have
to be a good you have to be a good
sport when you're getting roasted. And what a lot of
people don't know about roast is there are writers that
hand certain people that are just celebrity names there uh
to do to do the roast thing. There was a
roast with Gary Payton and Tiffany had his shack a

(39:27):
bunch of other NBA personalities, and the writer gave Gary
Payton the worst jokes. No one laughed and Gary doesn't
have a very fun personality. He's one of those. He's
one of them West Oakland. He wanted them, sorry East,
one of them East of Oakland cats very serious guy. Uh,
you guys can go look up stories about Gary Payton.
But I think it's gonna be great. I think Tom

(39:50):
Brady will be a great sport about it. But I
just don't know what material interesting to see, the type
of material to try to go at him with because
his wife, I mean, he can't really go with that
top model in the world for what the last decade.
What are you gonna say about his career or anything
like that. There'll be some deflate balls type jokes. I'm

(40:11):
pretty sure. Uh, I got I got the premise of one.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Okay, Tom Brady's face has deflated similar to the balls
that he used in that game.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
If you look at his face from two thousand and
four to twenty twenty four, how do you tee.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
He looks like he's permanently biting the inside of his
cheeks as VJ is coughing up a lunk trying not
to laugh.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
No, because that's that's a good one. That's that's what
I'll go there, I go there. Yeah, speaking of comedy,
real quick, man, you remember your friend that she told
we both know her, but Delo Brown, sure you see
how well she's doing. She's killing again. She's killing it
out here. Deal. If you ever hear this, salute to you,
my sister.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
The great job coming up next, Dallas, Okay se preview

Excuse me, sorry, every.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Wow belching belchin didn't know where that came from. I know,
all right, gross, we ain't got no food belching boom,
all right. Anyway, the thunder in the mass, remember the
Oklahoma City thunder?

Speaker 1 (41:24):
They have it.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Fields played the game in a month and a half.
Thanks a lot of New Orleans Pelicans, thanks for showing up.
But oh no, Zion, my dad is the biggest anti
CJ McCollum force on the planet.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
I just thought about it. He just texted me so
much nasty stuff.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
About CJ McCollum. He's like, he's out there getting cardio.
That's the nicest thing.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
But my dad, who is the pot who has become
a pretty big New Orleans Pelicans fan over the past
couple of days. I texted them the news that said, uh,
the Pelicans were not considering uh what is it? Re
signing brandon Ingram And he was like, good riddance. Good Yeah,
Like he's got a very average bag man.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
Yeah he needs a first step in the worst way.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
But anyway, those are the loosers, and we're not gonna
spend too much time talking about them.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
Let's go ahead talk about the Oklahoma City Thunder, who
were the most the.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Most high school version of an NBA team I've ever
seen a AU.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Right, they do real talk.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
I feel like I feel like they're all they all
just go home and play video games after. You know,
they have a bunch of kids led by shake Gildess Alexander,
who is like probably one of the older players on
the team in the first place. But the Dallas Mavericks
dispatch of the Walston Little Clippers last night told you
the Mavericks were gonna go ahead.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
That was the upset. That was the one. But no, no,
it wasn't no one. But we'll get to that next
next hour. That wasn't the one. We'll get into. Well,
we'll get into the one next hour, all right, we'll
get into the one next hour. Yes, but no, So
the Mavericks go ahead.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
Kyrie Irving hits basically the series clinching shot over the
ghost of PJ Tucker, who was on the bench for the.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
First four games.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
All of a sudden, Tyler was like, get out there, PJ.
Which is on a quicker side. What are the things
that impressions me the most about professional athletes? Because if
you're a bench player, you've got to stay ready if
you don't like that is what being a professional is about.
And the idea that PJ Tucker could go DNPCD to
playing over thirty minutes a game in the last two

(43:24):
and being productive. Vince has the production you expect out
of PJ. Tucker's I tip my cap to you. That's
a great way to stay locked in. Ultimately, was not enough,
as the Mavericks beat the Clippers in six. But what
is your predictions here for this other side of the
Western Conference bracket.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
Well, now that the MAVs got guys that are going
to be out, that fall was nasty. Actually, Cleveland, I've
separated both my shoulders and football in my years. I
know how that feels. It is not a good feeling
at all, and it takes a long time to recover
because once the ligaments start to stretch, they don't stretch back,
and you have to end up having surgery and have

(44:02):
them clipped and cut. Chris Webber was one of the
most famous NBA players that has shoulder issues. Until he
had that type of surgery, was able to avoid it.
But I know all about it. The thunder ladies and gentlemen,
they're real, the thunder real. Let's let's stop trying to
figure them out. It's like Minnesota, right, Let's stop trying
to figure it out. Let's stop listen. Put the tape on.

(44:22):
You guys know my saying put until you put the
tape on. They play defense, they move the ball. They
don't really care who's scoring, they don't really care how
the game is going. Chet Holmrim is a for the
next ten years, the same thing I said about Victor
for the next ten years. He'll defend the Rim for you.
They got They got Shay Gilges Alexander, who is a

(44:43):
certified MVP candidate dropping thirty at night. And you add
an all door. I mean that guy's gonna fight through
screens picks, he's gonna play defense. He's a D and
three guy. They got it, man, the MAVs. I like
what they have going. I just don't think they have
enough to play with the Thunder's explosive scoring. So give

(45:07):
me the Thunder in a highly contested top flight seven
game series. They will take game seven at home in
about five months from now when they get to that.
The way they spread out the NBA playoffs, give me
the Thunder, give me the Thunder and seven I'm gonna
go ahead. I'm actually on the opposite side of this
with you.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
Maxie Cleever's injury does concern me, though, sprain day seed joint.
As you've heard Manzi Bilano say, and guess what you
hear say it again to the bottom of the hour.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
But he's done. Yeah, he's gonna be a he's spraining
your a seed joint.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
That's gonna be a tough injury to recover from, something
that you're not gonna be able to recover from in
the spirit in the span of these, uh these seven
games at least, And I do think this is looking
towards a seven game series. I'm just I just don't
know how Oklahoma City matches up defensively against Kyrie and Luca.
Those are the two guys I expect to carry the

(45:59):
Mavericks studient this series. I know, spoiler alert, that's a
big time wait to go out on the limb Martin
Home Grim at the Grim though, Chet at the Rim
is going to cause a lot of problems for those
guys finished trying to finish. But the thing about Chet
that impressed me was I thought that he would be
getting pushed around by your traditional NBA centers like Jonis

(46:19):
Valanceievenis for example.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
And don't get me wrong, he.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Had a few moments where valentuners would bang him and
check with fly into the first row and run back
and bang him again, Chet flying in the front row
and then bring him back but you know what, though,
to the skinny boy's credit, he's he was always there
to contest the shot, which theottle More you can ask
for in the NBA, you got if you could get
a hand of somebody's face, good to go.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Good for you.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
But yeah, I think I would go with the Mavericks
here just and you know what, the thing is not
even about Luca, because Luca, you look at his numbers,
you might say, Martin, you're crazy.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
I said he didn't have a very good series.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Well, he did not have a very right now. Members sure,
if you want to play fantasy basketball, that's one thing.
But the way that he played to me, I don't know.
And this is gonna sound insane if you've been paying
attention to the basketball discourse for the last twenty four months,
But I think Kyrie Irving is really truly at at

(47:16):
a level of peace in his career and at his
life where like, and I'm not ex choosing any of
the stuff that he had done prior to or none
of that. I think it was pretty much all of
it self inflicted, self injected. But anyway, Kyrie Irving and
the rest and what he had done from Boston to
Brooklyn and all the different kind of things that occurred

(47:38):
and behind the scenes in his career that ended up
coming out in that way, it seems like none of
it is happening at this point in time. In Dallas.
He's been nothing but I hate the I don't know,
I'm not even going out. He's been nothing but about
the basketball, right and when you watch him play, it's
it is evident that he is at a position in

(47:59):
his career where.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
He doesn't give a damn about anything but winning.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
He doesn't care if he scores too much, he doesn't
scores too little.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
He doesn't care if he gets.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
A double, double, triple double, whatever. He doesn't care if
he scores forty, if he scores ten. Right for him,
right now, he's at a place where it's about winning,
and I think he's truly the veteran leader on that
team because when you look at Luca, like, how many
times you watch the Mavericks and you see Luca just
bitching out a referee. How many times you watch the
Mavericks and you see Kyrie complaining about anything, nothing, nothing,

(48:32):
He's just He's all he's doing is going out, minding
his own business and just throwing half court alley, you
blobs where he's looking all the way to the other
at the other rim and just putting guys on highlight
reels and just getting up and shaking their hand and saying, hey.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
Thank you, have a nice day. I was just telling
Mary doing commercial break that the older I get, I
realize in life it's not about you. It's about the
people around you. So about what you do for people.
It's about what you lead. It's one of the reasons
why I respect Rob Parker the way I do. You
guys know about MLB bro. Now he's got this radio
station that he's put together and building that that will

(49:08):
earn my respect regardless of whether we bump heads of
whether I like a guy or they like that doesn't matter.
I respect what you're doing because you're at peace within
yourself and you realize it's the there's a bigger picture
than you.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
And I think a lot of times in life we
miss that. We miss it ain't about you. It's about
the people around you, and it's about what you leave
that's gonna be a legacy. And Kyrie talked about it
in the post game the other night, where he is
really at peace right now and He just wants good
people around him that appreciate him, and he wants to
be around people that he can appreciate.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
Eight. It's as simple as that, and you're seeing it
in his play on the court, and when you see
him live and in person, you could feel it like
you feel energy. I'm an energy guy. I pray over
energy crystals. I talk about the universe and you know, Venus,
Mars and retrograde and all that stuff, like I really do.
I believe that stuff. I feel that stuff. That's where

(50:05):
Kyrie is right now. But he's always been that guy.
I think a lot of times media likes to twist
and poking proud and whatever happened with Brooklyn and whatever
happened with him leaving Cleveland and then with Boston. I
just think now he is at a real peaceful part

(50:26):
in his life and you can see it on the court.
And then Jason Kidd to talk to your point. Jason said,
he is the veteran leader on our team, and guys
are talking more and guys are spending time together, and
he's the leader. Luca might be the big marquee name,
he might have top billing on the building, but Kyrie
is definitely the leader and the veteran leader on that

(50:49):
team right now. He talked about Lebron, He talked about
they they really did try to get him to LA
last year. That wasn't just a rumor. And he talked
about how they're still great friends and that's his big brother,
and those type of things when he could take shots
and oh, yeah, that's the past. I don't want to talk.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
No, he's openly talking about those things, and that's what
leaders do. Yeah, Kyrie has been to me very impressive
thus far in this and I think ultimately he is
going to be. Probably it may not look so necessarily
on the scoring or on the stat sheet, I think
Kyrie is gonna be the reason why they win this series.

Speaker 1 (51:24):
He's playing, he's playing at a different level. Man. He's
playing defense in a way. He did defend his.

Speaker 8 (51:31):
Right.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
And the thing about the thing about it is a
lot of times NBA defense, you're not stopping these guys, right,
you're really truly not stopping these guys.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
But if you get up for somebody's.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
Shirt and you bother them enough, right, and really a
lot of that, you know what it comes down to,
want to where is your want to level?

Speaker 1 (51:52):
Where's your effort level? Kyrie's right now, off the charts,
off the freaking charts. It's very impressive. I just think, okay, see,
he's just god man. I'm watching them, and it's like
they blitch you like like it comes out of nowhere.
You'll be in a tight game with ok see, you
go use the bathroom, or you go make a ham sandwich.
Not sandwich. You gonna make yourself a ham sandwich and

(52:14):
get your glass of kol A and come back in
the living room. And it's a thirteen point game. They blitch. Okay,
see blitzes you so fast offensively. I just I worry
if the MAVs can fight that. The Clippers didn't have that,
And the games the Clippers won, they jumped out on them,
jumped out the big league. Paul George was unconscious in

(52:37):
Game four, Paul, But you know Paul George is not
gonna continue to shoot like that Game one, they were
dumping the ball down to Zubac. When have you seen
the Clippers dump the ball down the Zubac four straight
opening possessions of the game, and he was scoring. He
had eight points before you blinked. And it's like, hold
on they're dumping the ball to Zubac, but as soon

(52:57):
as they started to double that, Tyler never went right
back to it. Luca takes over, Kyrie does his thing
series over in six. So I like seven. I think
it's competitive. I think it comes down to it. But
Okayse's offense.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Man.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
God that though. Those young kids are just so good,
and they're very well coached. And I asked you last
week their head coach, man, he kind of mirrors Eric Spostra,
been with the organization, coaching the G League guys like
you know, doing doing been with the He's been around
these kids. He knows them. He didn't just get the job.
They all know each other. He knows these kids deeply.

(53:37):
And when you're young sometimes you just don't even know.
Just go play. When you're young, you ever go to
the park and watch kids, they don't They just don't know, man,
They just go play. They don't know. I'm from the
era of a merrygo round. I'm from the air of
a metal slide. Okay, that burns the hell out of
your legs in the summertime. Kids know, they got the
nice pretape My kids did apart everything is plastic. They

(53:59):
got covers over the apparatuses now so the sun doesn't
beat down on them. Kids don't know no better man.
Just go play, just go enjoy life. They always say,
if you want to know the truth, ask an old
person or ask a kid, because they just don't know.
Old people are like, listen, I'm too old to be
bs and you know you're yeah, you look fat in
that they're not gonna date. But young kids they just

(54:21):
don't know.

Speaker 2 (54:22):
These young kids for the OKC thunder Man, they just
don't know mart And they.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
May not even feel like, listen, let's just go play, dude.
They're doing group interviews at the end of the games.
They got this barking thing going on now. They they
don't know. Man. I just I just think the offensive
weapons will be a little much. I feel everything. Agree
with what you're saying about the mass, but give me
OKC and seven. You're taking mads in six oh seven? Okay,
all right, who'd you taking? Six? Oh? You took? All right?

(54:47):
You taking Minnesota and six?

Speaker 2 (54:48):
Right there you go, speaking of Minnesota. That game coming
down to the wire right now. And you know what
I'll say this, uh well, actually you know what I'll
say it In just a minute, because one of the
X factors that I outlined for this series.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
Is stepping up in a major way right now. We'll
get to that. Coming up next, Martin and VJ. Fox
Sports Radio, Martin.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
VJ coming to you a lot from the Tireck dot
Com studios. You can hit us up with their two
cents on Twitter. I'm at Martin White's VJ at the
Big Vanilla Funny, and of course you can always get
us at.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
Excuse me, like, oh, of course, little Chewy, little Chewie
Rick Coon.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
He said, he's tuing again.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
While he's over watching UFC three oh one and the
Nuggets and the Timberwolves game one.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
Man, it's crazy to chew Chew again. Chewy gain real
feisty too. Man, he'd be trying to Chewy funny. He'd
be trying to come at us now, man, with his
opinions and stuff, and it's all it's all a good fun.
I don't take none of it. Definitely.

Speaker 2 (55:46):
I guess Mancy gets two pays today yeast share. Yeah,
as she said, as she would say, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:56):
Yo, Manci, is there anything for single demio tomorrow? I
want to do.

Speaker 2 (56:00):
I want to buy myself. I don't want to go nobody.
I'm just is there anything that you know because I
heard you and carrying here?

Speaker 1 (56:05):
Party?

Speaker 4 (56:05):
A party?

Speaker 1 (56:07):
I know, yeah, a lot.

Speaker 6 (56:08):
I know.

Speaker 1 (56:09):
I used to do security for Quincaneta's.

Speaker 4 (56:11):
Well, I mean I don't know about King Sennetta. So
that's not a Costa Rican thing.

Speaker 1 (56:16):
Oh that's okay, yes, yeah, at least.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
Like it, not to the extent of what King signettes
are here.

Speaker 1 (56:22):
Oh no, Mexicans. Yeah, it's a party. Yeah, it is
a morning party.

Speaker 4 (56:26):
Much more so.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
It's a passage of life. Right.

Speaker 6 (56:30):
Some people spend like as much as like a wedding
to do a King signette.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
You know, it's like crazy, have.

Speaker 1 (56:35):
Five thousand dollar dresses, yeah for thirteen for a thirteen
year old?

Speaker 4 (56:38):
Right, yeah, no crazy.

Speaker 6 (56:40):
I mean live your best life, honestly, just go anywhere.
Go to El Toito, go to a Mexican place.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
You know it's going to be popping, all right.

Speaker 1 (56:46):
I want to do something tomorrow. Shut myself tomorrow, man,
and go get a little tequila. Oh yeah, that's my thing,
that's my training. I'm a tequila go.

Speaker 4 (56:53):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 6 (56:54):
But I think anywhere you go that maybe is like
a like a Mexican restaurant.

Speaker 4 (56:59):
I think it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (57:00):
I just thought maybe there was anna vent somewhere.

Speaker 4 (57:02):
You know, it probably is because I'm gonna be working.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
I didn't look into it.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
This is Los Angeles, that's true.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
I feel like you could, you know, throw a rock
and run into it.

Speaker 1 (57:11):
And run it to it, run it to a spot.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Right but right now it's going to be a party
in Minnesota, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
Right now, is Aaron Gordon attempts to three, that's a brick.
This game is over.

Speaker 2 (57:21):
Monsey Belanias will have all the fun facts for you
in just about four minutes.

Speaker 1 (57:26):
But quickly, let's say it. I want to do want
to touch on this. Karl Anthony Towns.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Picked up a foul literally as soon as you can
pick up a foul in the game, on the opening tip.
So he had five fouls entering into the fourth quarter.
The only played from my vision only played about three minutes.
In the fourth quarter. Nas Reid hit a three dounk
thrown people twice.

Speaker 1 (57:51):
I was saying, this is it.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
This is what I'm talking about when I talk about
this Minnesota team.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
They have explosive depth.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
Damn like Nikolelexander Walker, great defender coming off the bench.
Nas Reid can handle the ball well for a guy
who's six eleven, can shoot the three, can go and dunk.
And you know he was recruited by the ultimate Collins gangster,
Will Wade, who will if you ever.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
Watched the documentary on Netflix, no on HBO.

Speaker 2 (58:16):
Rather about how they got down with the paying kids
at LSU, Will Wade was unrepented. He's like, how much
does it cost to get nas read? I'm breaking the bank.
I couldn't believe that he went undrafted in the first place.
But this shows me to me like this and the
thing that I feel like I have not heard really
anybody say about this series. If there's a team designed

(58:37):
to beat Denver, it's Minnesota. And here's why DJ familiar
with the name Tim Connolly. Yeah, that's the guy that
built Denver. You know where he worried, the GM that
built Denver. He's now the GM in Minnesota. Traded what
felt like a kajillion picks to pick up Rudy Gobert, Right,
Rudy gober who people laughed at.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
I laughed at it to us. People laughed at.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
The rest of the NBA was talking about, Hey, what
are we doing? How is this gonna work? How were
we supposed to have Rudy? Like remember people were complaining
like we can't trade Kevin durrayt because Rudy Gobert's put
a four first round pick, Like how are we supposed
to Like that's gonna dead the NBA trade market.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
Well, when you look at the roster.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
Construction of Minnesota, you tell me another team that could
knock off the champs. I'm not saying that they're predicted
that they will, but I'm not saying it's gonna be
a sweep. And I say it's gonna be easy. But
like we look at Oklahoma City, look at Dallas. Do
they have the big guys up front to bang with Joki?
Don't think so.

Speaker 1 (59:35):
And I'll tell you this, man, I side Anthony Edwards
forty three points. Like I said, I think this is
a series where it's coming out. He's showing that he's
one of the top I got in top five in
the league right now. If I were just to throw
it together the top five guys in the league, Anthony
Edwards would would be there for me. But Michael Conley
is another name too. About this series that I'm gonna

(59:56):
be real close looking at fourteen points Tennis sys the
night of plus twenty, you talk about a veteran and
Michael Conley goes all the way back to Ohio State
playing Florida in the national championship game. I mean, that's
how long that man has been around and been a
basketball name. And he's a steady point guard. I love
steady point guards. I don't need Trey Young. I don't

(01:00:18):
need you know, super scoring point guard. I like steady.
Don't turn it over. Get everybody where they need to be.
Get the ball to the guys that you need to
get the ball to. And there's sweet spots. Play d
and just don't And when things get a little hectic,
things get a little helter skelter, get it to your
point guard. Heap Mark reminds me a lot of Rod Strickland.

Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
If you guys old enough to remember the listeners out there,
Rod Strickland was that type of point guard.

Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Just get him the ball. He was gonna get you
ten domes a night. He won't gonna make stupid mistakes.
He's gonna get the ball to the stars. And there's
sweet spots. So one nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Minnesota and as I just said during the commercial break
to Martin series on, Yeah Yeah, series on. You know,
one of my least favorite phrases of sports. I have
a I need to make it. I know what about
to say, go ahead? Series doesn't start to routine wins again,
so I can't stay. Yes, it did start. It absolutely

(01:01:16):
did start. So I guess I guess we're still waiting
for Oklahoma City to get to get through the first
round because the road team didn't, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Like, no, it absolutely. I actually love that saying because
it's true. Yes it is, because when you come out
in game two, Game two for this series, I guess
will be on the sixth. So all right, so Monday,
Monday night, you got if you're dinver, I don't must win.
That's one of my things. That's kind of but I'm

(01:01:46):
telling you, guys, man, this Monday night, they gotta go
get it. You don't. You can't go back to Minnesota
down to Oh that crowd is gonna be rocking. Also,
real cool stat from this game. It's Minnesota's first second
round playoff win since two thousand and four. That's the
last time this franchise won a second round game in

(01:02:10):
the NBA Playoffs, So kudos to them. They've done a
good job of the team. I've liked them all year long,
that as much as smart. But I like defensive rebounding
because I think that travels, and it traveled again today.
I think they're rebounds forty two rebounds to Denvers thirty four.
There it is eight rebound difference. There's the game. So
I'll go ahead and pull up Mike Conley.

Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
He said he's great at getting their best players the
ball in the right positions. I'll go ahead and get
one of our best players the ball in her position.

Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
MANSI, you're up. What's trying to turn it over? Manzi?

Speaker 6 (01:02:42):
Everything VJ just said, EVERYTHINGJ just said, and then so
but yeah, I guys, the Timberwolves took Game one from
the Nuggets in Denver. What altitude? They had no issues
with that. They just played defense a hole.

Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
That's another thing.

Speaker 4 (01:02:55):
That's another one.

Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Altitude did not bother them like it bothered the other team.

Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
I think that's a real thing, you know what's right.

Speaker 6 (01:03:01):
So it's like, I'm giving credit to the Timberwolves for
lasting like this. Nas Reid off the bench six Men
of the Year sixteen points, fourteen of those came in
the fourth quarter, but it really was Anthony Edwards who
put on the show forty three points, seven rebounds.

Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
They did out rebound the Nuggets.

Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
You could just tell that the Nuggets were maybe not
ready to play this aggressively since they had just played
the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
So we'll see how Denver bounce is back for Game two.

Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
One O six ninety nine was the final score in
a Koli Jokich thirty two eight and nine was.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
His stat line.

Speaker 6 (01:03:35):
But yeah, nobody I think was too surprised that the
Timberwolves would take game one. We have a Game seven
going on on the ice between the Maple Leafs and
the Bruins. Fifteen minutes ago in the second period, they
are still scoreless. In Major League Baseball, Max Munsey has
hit a two run shot for the Dodgers. They're beating
the Braves two zero, bottom of the second in La
Padres have added another run against the Diamondbacks three zero,

(01:03:58):
bottom of the fifth. The Mariners still blanking the Astros
in Houston five zero, top of the ninth. Still a
tie game in Tampa Bay one one between the Mets.

Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
And the Rays.

Speaker 6 (01:04:07):
Bottom of the eighth. All Rangers against the Royals ten
to three, top of the eighth, Phillies on top of
the Giants nine to three, bottom of the sixth.

Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
Also Phillies trade Turner.

Speaker 6 (01:04:16):
He's expected to be out about six weeks with a
hamstring injury. The A's can't stop scoring against the Marlins.
It's fifteen to one, top of the seventh and Mystic
Dan one hundred and fifty fiftieth running of the Kentucky
Derby Fellas.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Back to you, Thanks, MONSI.

Speaker 2 (01:04:34):

Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Off the air. My bad, I didn't mean to step
on you. It's all good. Listen real quick with Anthony
anders and we're watching these highlights. Edwards, Adams, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
A very different people know because Anthony Edwards being all
the games man sitting next to Anthony Anderson.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Yeah, and plays in the game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sorry, man,
I told you got Its been a relacious week. But
Reggie Jackson is the wrong call to guard this guy.
Stop putting my Michael Hello, stop putting Reggie Jackson on this.
That is not gonna work all series long. I think
you gotta switch. I think it's gotta be more Michael

(01:05:25):
Porter Jr. And more and more. Uh I, Aaron Gordon,
can I stay? You know, I just stay. Let you
gotta have some liptos, stay in front of Anthony. You
gotta stay. Yeah, you got some lypt on It's gotta
be a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
And if it's Reggie Jackson or it's just gonna be
Oh okay, can I can I let me take you
into the paint. You deal with me, now right, that's
what it's gonna be. Nas read fourteen fourth quarter points.

Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
That'll get it done. Is Murray hurt? Remember he is?

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
He said the cap string him and you know, and
that's actually let's have a moment of silence. And for
the NBA, way too many calf strains drink water and
stretch guys, Way too many calves drink water and stretch.
You see map strains did Milwaukee in you didn't even
get a chance to see it. Block was the doc
was gonna blow it because it was just so many
calf strains, you know, like we don't even know.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
He was gonna blow it or not.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
No doc still blow it. Yeah, I guess he blew
the injury. No, well, I mean, you know, it's like
we didn't even get to see him blow It wasn't
even a fair fight.

Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
And then the one damn game that it had a shot.
Dam Caper's just throwing guys out in the minute.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Anyway, though, speaking of blowing it, oh my god, what
hapen in Los Angeles?

Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Needs to blow it up? Bigger, faster, stronger team in
Los Angeles needs to end this era right now. Is
it the Lakers or is it the Clippers?

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Because I'd say outside of the desk, outside of the
Bubble Championship, which again it's kind of a crazy thing
to say, because it still was a championship. Everybody had
to deal with the same stuff when they went into
the bubble.

Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Lakers won it.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
But outside of that, we've seen I know you got
it off the top of your head. I don't know
if the Clippers, but we've we haven't seen either one
of these teams advanced to a conference finals since no
well one for the Lakers. One conference with the Lakers.
Oh that's no playoff appearances swept out of my brain. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
It was just sweet. I might surprise some people with this, Eric,
I know people always looking for me to do some
Lebron bashing. If you're the Clippers and Manti, you could
jump in and chime in on this. If you're the
Clippers though, at this at this point, honestly and watching
the team real talk up close, and it's just they

(01:07:39):
they just they just don't have enough. And the Kawhi
thing is just it just might be too big his bid.
And I'm not trying to knock him. His body's just.

Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
Let him down degeneratively issue.

Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Yes, yes, and it's and if and if you're old
enough to remember Penny Hardaway, Penny Hardaway had to say
when he had the first I profracture injury on his knee,
he was just never the same guy. Jamal Mashburn, I
could go on to Larry your grandma, Ma, Larry Johnson, Guys,
those your knees, they just they don't repair, they don't
get better. Acl Yeah, but when you have.

Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
An injury that's just read occurring all the time. I
feel for the guy, but then the story comes out
where Russ today, or the story came out today where
he kind of took took the high road, didn't really
like being relegated to the bench, but never.

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Said nothing energy off the bench. I tweeted at one
game where the biggest ovation all night long is when
they said him checking in now Russell. That was the
loudest I heard the arena all night. Lord. They love
that guy. He's their energizer bunny.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
And we went down when he got hurt.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
I think, oh, yeah, you will find you a five
and six. Yeah, five and six. I think Pag's gone,
you can feel I trust me. I think pg's gone, Pete.
I don't think he's living at home and all that stuff.
That stuff's overrated. You can fly back and for if
guys are going to live and buy mansions all over
the damn place. I think pg's gone. Tyler's got one

(01:09:14):
year left on this deal. I don't think they fire him.
So if anybody thinks they gonna get him as a coach.
I know there's the stories about the Lakers. Okay, well,
you gotta get You have to give up a whole
lot to get him. Bombers not giving him to you
definitely want him going into that new beautiful stadium that
they have that have had a chance to see recently.
But if it's between these two teams, I think a

(01:09:34):
D is still viable. I like D low and it's
more than most people do. But when I do look
at your Clippers, Monte, you know, I think maybe I
think it's time, I because because what do you what
are you gonna do?

Speaker 4 (01:09:45):
It was time two years ago?

Speaker 6 (01:09:47):
Oh wow, I said that. I said that, like Wire
or Paul George. I said that two years ago, one
or the other. I was just like, we're.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Harden right, you know, I harden like what here? We
are right right exactly. I don't know if Paul George
is gonna come back.

Speaker 6 (01:10:11):
I think signing Kawhi to that extension is really what
is a little bit hurting us. The idea was signing
him so that it would bring fans into into it,
don't which is ridiculous because guess what, Clippers aren't getting
new fans the fans that we have in the fan.
It's a ridiculous thought. You know, we were still going
to show up. There's nobody new because of Kawhi Leonard.

(01:10:34):
That already happened, you know, So it's silly that that
was the idea behind it. I really, I don't know.
It's like starting over. It's not going to happen. It's
not gonna happen by having Kawhi Leonard on this three
year extension. So I actually think I don't I don't
think I'm on board fully, but I think they're going
to run it back. I think they're.

Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Going to run it back.

Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
I think they will too. They're gonna lie to themselves. Yeah,
which is you know, it's it's easy to do. It's
easy to do. It is really easy to do.

Speaker 6 (01:11:02):
And it was a really frustrating, I said to Carry Rhodes, like,
out of all the years have been a Clippers fan,
out of all the series that we've lost, yes.

Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
Three to one up that we ended up losing, this
was one.

Speaker 6 (01:11:12):
Of the most annoying ones because they looked like they
didn't care.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
The other night, Yes, the other night it looked bad.
The last did.

Speaker 4 (01:11:20):
Yesterday it looked like that. The last game at Crypto looked.

Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Like I mean yesterday, Yeah, last night am I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
The last game you're fine. But the last game at
Crypto looked like that.

Speaker 6 (01:11:27):
Aside from game one, honestly and game three where we
almost lost a thirty one point lead, it was like
Jacko and Hyde, what team.

Speaker 4 (01:11:37):
Am I going to get out here?

Speaker 6 (01:11:38):
Only Norman Powell and Russell Westbrook looked like they actually
wanted to be out there every game.

Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
And also to man and yeah, man, Bones Highland, they
got some guys.

Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
And it's just Bones Highland is not in the rotation though.

Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
At all at all at all. HEJ PJ was hot
tailing it out of there before we could get to
the damn press room. He was walking by us, speed
walking like I'm out of him.

Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
He's been mad.

Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
Look, I ain't got nothing nice to say.

Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
And I don't blame him for being mad.

Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
But also like you can't keep up either, Yeah, so
it's I feel for the guy. But also you're you're
not keeping up. That's why you're older and your bread
and butter butter game is older, right, and that.

Speaker 1 (01:12:24):
And they're slow. It's old and slow.

Speaker 4 (01:12:27):
You know what you need to be in the NBA,
young and fast.

Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
That's you. And that's true, o Ma, because analytics is
really taking over a lot. I want to trade young
rumors with l A.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
I don't like it because it's like, Okay, you're gonna
bring another point guard in, stop lining yourself and stop
lying to the society.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Lebron's gonna come off the ball. We know that's not
going to happen, sooner or later, he's got to be
the guy with the ball. But the Clippers, man, it's
I think PG, we're running it back. So you're resigning
PG to what two?

Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
Three?

Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
What do you?

Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
What are you doing with that match Kawi?

Speaker 1 (01:12:58):
Imagine with Kawhi three act? So what a two year
two year at this point two year hundred or so
we're doing? What are we doing? A hundred? I know
what I would definitely do if I'm the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
You. If there's anything that I feel like is a
definite fact in the NBA over the last ten years,
it is that James Harden was going to not perform
in the posting. Yeah, he will have two games a
series where he's like, oh, yeah, this guy's definitely a
future Hall of Famer, and then the other two it'll
be like, man, should we really not be playing Bunch
Island over him like it is like because it is

(01:13:30):
the way that he and you know what I've often said,
if I was in the NBA, I would like to
live the life that James Harden lives. He looks like
he has a blast, but it also looks like at
this age it is caught up to him. He's he's
good for two out of six games every series he'll drop.
He'll have eighty points across two games, and then the
rest he won't score eighties, he won't score the average.

(01:13:51):
You know, he's got more two four eleven games than
anybody in the NBA. And the thing about it is
Russell Westbrook is past his prime and whatever, but.

Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
The Clippers need him to just do the dirty work.
But the problem with Rovick Russell Westbrook doing the dirty
work is he's still out there.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
And it was like, like it's kind of similar to
like Rudy Gobert, right where Rudy Gobert in Utah was
largely ignored on the offensive end. He's a much better
player now simply because they don't they don't mind throwing
a ball to him. They're like, all right, we're gonna
not burn this possession. You can't play five on four exactly.
You can't and did not. He didn't hit a shot

(01:14:32):
after game one. After game one, it was absent.

Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
For and get to him.

Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
I mean, wouldn't you It would bother me too.

Speaker 4 (01:14:40):
Right, But you know like he was, he got emotional.

Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
Yes, how much of this is on Tyler?

Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
Guys shopping at If you're shopping at seven eleven, it's
hard to make Christmas dinner?

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Like you if you're shopping at the gas station, it's
margin so great. I'm stealing often. I'm still entertainment value
over it is.

Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
It is when you look at that roster, what's she
supposed to do? What's he supposed to be?

Speaker 7 (01:15:05):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Like, is he supposed to check himself in the defensive
first point guard?

Speaker 6 (01:15:09):
He should not have allowed Kawhi Leonard to play Game two.
He should not have played Game two.

Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
Why do they play them? You think because you played him
that one game and then.

Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
It was like pating him to play.

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
I think that's reason why.

Speaker 6 (01:15:21):
I think that's the reason why. But it's like he
shouldn't have played. The momentum was on the Clippers side
after game one, and then he came in and was
the wrench that kind of threw everything off one last.

Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Point, quick point I made two. And this team always
feels like they don't know who's the guy. Some games
Harden some guys. Sometimes Harden wants to get going. Sometimes
PG wants to get there's no system of who's gonna
get going.

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Coming up next, Producer Pat with the game of Who
You Got? Mark You Radio, coming to you live from
the Time Right dot Com Studios on May the fourth,
May the Fourth be with you, by the way, it
is up on social media. Two cents on Twitter, I'm
at Martin Weiss, Vjy's at the Big Vanilla Funny and uh,

(01:16:05):
you know George sayings eighty five or fifty eight. He's
always tweeting us all these interesting trivia questions. Yeah, George,
this one's for you. It's time for an addition of
who you Got?

Speaker 9 (01:16:17):
All right, that's right, it's time for who you Got
with Martin Weiss and Vijahiski and yours truly, producer Pat
in the booth. Guys, it is May fourth, and what
we know that as is May the fourth be with you,
It is Star Wars Day or May the Schwartz be
with you. May the Schwartz as well. So with that

(01:16:37):
said that is actually our theme of today. It's athletes
who are Star Wars fans. It's pretty broad. Wow, And
I did my research on this one, so I know
this one's true. So with that said, why don't we
get into who you got.

Speaker 1 (01:16:52):
Guests?

Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
Number one?

Speaker 9 (01:16:53):
This man is a two time Super Bowl champion and
a one time first team All Pro. He is a
former second round pick, and he also has coached for
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 4 (01:17:10):
With that said, Martin VJ. Who you got.

Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Coach for Tampa Bay and the Lions? Yes, two times
Super Bowl champ and a one time first team over
so let me start there. So two time Super Bowl champ.
So guys won two Super Bowls. It was a second
round pick, second round pick Byron Leftwich.

Speaker 9 (01:17:33):
Good guess, but no I like that though, goodball VJ.
Golle wouldn't it Byron left which win a Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
I think maybe it's a back a.

Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
I would think like that too.

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
By the way, I was a good ass guy. Okay, man,
if you need me to, if you need a second
round pick, first team All Pro, two time Super Bowl champ,
and coached Detroit and Tampa Bay.

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Mm hm hmm, yeah, I'll pass on that, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
All right, next one.

Speaker 9 (01:18:09):
He won the Big Ten m v P and Big
Ten Offensive Player of the Year once in his collegiate career, so.

Speaker 8 (01:18:17):
He's from the Big exactly. He's from the Big Ten.
That's correct, with the Big Ten MVP and the Big
Time Offensive Player of the Year OFFENSI play of the
year Antoine Winfield. No, but I like that. That's my
dad would love that answer.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Anthro plays defense, offensive player of the year. I will
played the Buccaneers and the Lions.

Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:18:41):
I don't know Staley, that's all right, So I'll even
throw it even more to this. He was He went
to Indiana and he played for his entire career at QB.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Antoine Randall, we got there at the same time.

Speaker 1 (01:18:59):
Hi goes to the runner. I'll take that, good job. No,
we both get that one. Yea yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that was ye what you said that? It's like that
was five. That was in five. That was oh with
the Steelers.

Speaker 9 (01:19:13):
So he won his first Super Bowl as a player
with the Pittsburgh Steelers and as a coach with Tom
Brady Sampa Bay Bucket.

Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
Wow, I didn't know that he was on that coaching staff.

Speaker 9 (01:19:23):
Technically he is a two times Swatchef differing I never specified.

Speaker 1 (01:19:29):
I don't know how big of a Star Wars fan is.
How'd you know this?

Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
So?

Speaker 9 (01:19:32):
I actually there was a picture of him actually with
a Darth Maul cosplayer. Uh, I want to say probably
in like, oh it was around a Star Wars a month,
and all of a sudden he was taking pictures like
during like a big movie Madison. He was getting all
hyped up with with Darth Maul and all that stuff.
And he's notoriously like big Star Wars nerd.

Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Mar Were you just teasing me do a commercial record?
Have you really seen all eight of those movies?

Speaker 1 (01:19:55):
Have seen the first three?

Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Then the three that came out out and all.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
That stuff that was the prequels? Close. I saw the
ones that came out about eight.

Speaker 10 (01:20:06):
Years ago, the sequel trilogy. Yeah, I saw two of those. Okay,
so that that makes eight right that? No, there's nine
of them, damn it, that makes it. Yeah, you see
you have seen eight ninth. You're not missing anything with
na scene.

Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
So tonight I'll watch I'll watch, Uh Empire strikes Back,
hen't return it to Jedial. You should watch that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
You should watch first mean four four, Thank you, but
I want to watch them how.

Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
They came out. People giving me, well, no, no, no.

Speaker 9 (01:20:30):
Then then if you want to do the original first
first episode four, first.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Episode four, then five, then six, then go watch Spaceballs
before I came in. Coming up next though, we will
debate is this diminutive point guard the superstar Martin and
v J Fox withor Tradio.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
And we're broadcasting live at the tireight dot com studios
tirac dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):

feriodizer protection and over one thousand recommend the dollars tire
rack dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:20:56):
It's the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
Well of tomorrow, Jay Morris, MLB bro Content Reporter, Baseball
Insider at the bottom of the hour. But right now, VJ,
let's go ahead and hop in the way back machine
and just go because we must be in the nineties
and the Knicks and the Pacers are playing in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (01:21:13):
Right right the nineties early two thousands. Man, this is
I'm excited for this because I think it's gonna be
a great series.

Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
Both teams can score. Jalen Brunson's doing this thing. Halliburton
is doing this thing. I mean, this is this is all.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
The first thing I thought about was Reggie Miller when
they when they win, the series is over, and you
saw who's gonna be matched up. I said, oh boy,
here we go. And I'm gonna tell you, Martin, I'm
torn on who's gonna win the series as of right now,
watching the way the series broke down between the Bucks
and the Pacers and the Nick Obacchas and the Sixes,

(01:21:50):
I'm really looking at this series like, man, damn, I
don't I can't even I'm really trying to figure out
who's gonna win. I'm trying to really fair who's gonna
win this? Who's gonna win this damn series? Because I
think the teams are both evenly matched. I think the
Knicks have the edge here. The Pacers did not play
well in the first round.

Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
I know that they obviously kind of won some of
the games that won hand leave it to me was
I was not impressed with the way the Pacers got
down in the first round. And I think that if
the injuries hadn't, like if we had not seen the
injuries impact Milwaukee in the way that they did, I
think especially if even if you just had Damian Lillard,
I think Milwaukee would have been in a good position to
win that series when you look at the way that

(01:22:28):
Indiana played, And I just don't know about this team,
And I think Tyrese Haliburton is not necessarily playing at like it.
Don't get me wrong, he's playing well, but he was
playing at first team all NBA level before he injured himself. Yeah, oh,
absolutely absolutely, And so now I think he's lost his step.
And maybe it's maybe it's you know, injury management, injury recovery,

(01:22:50):
so on and so forth. But I mean he was
thirty five and twelve at some points in the season. Yeah,
in terms of points in the Cists. He was mister
double double to start the year off. And now he
he did not show me in the first round that
he is a guy that you can really sit and
I don't want to say depend on, but like, he
didn't bounce back the way Jalen Brunson bounced back after

(01:23:12):
two bad games. Jalen Brunton at two bad games in
the first two games in the series, hit that front
rim three that went way up in there, and then
bounced back in and since then he's been like six
foot Michael Jordan, just just shooting everything, making a ton
of shots. Being the engine that runs the Knicks offense.
I haven't seen like tyrees Haliburton didn't do the same thing.

Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
Do you know what I'm saying? Throughout the series?

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
And I think that the big men of the Knicks
will do well against Miles Turner and that I don't
know about that. Miles Turner, I mean the job, well,
he can get Miles Turner can shoot it, Miles Turner
can get on the glass. I the Pacers is he
I don't. We can't carry from one series to the next.

Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
In my opinion, I think, I think, I think, I
think Haliburton be fine. They can't score the ball, but
their thing is assisting the ball, and they're getting thirty
thirty five to thirty three. Then when they're moving the
ball like that, they're gonna be hard to beat. Now,
I do think the Knicks can win this series and
probably will because the one flaw I do see about

(01:24:17):
the Pacers is they like to go real fast and
they like to jack a lot of threes early in
the shot clock. But when your hand it's beautiful. If
you look at their scoring against Steve Bucks ninety four one,
twenty five one, twenty one one, twenty six, ninety two
one to twenty. So they had two games there where
they couldn't crack a hundred. But for the most part,

(01:24:38):
they're cracking one twenty the number one scoring offense in
basketball this year all season long. So they just they
score more than anybody else. But I do caution they
should move the ball a little more. I do feel
like Hart the Vincenzo Brunson that those three in the
back court right there are gonna be hilacious to deal

(01:25:00):
with and they will defit especially hard. Speaking of the Lakers,
going back to that for a quick saying, you think
they couldn't use a guy like Oh, that's right, they
had him. You think they couldn't have used a guy
like that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
So if I got to pick somebody right now, give
me I have the Nixon to the Eastern Convice.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
When you know I did our playoff preview. I have
him in the East Convice finals. So I can't change
that now, So give me the Nixon six. I mean
you can change it. No, No, I don't like doing that. Though,
you know men tattooed to you you know me, not
like my Michigan tattoo is gonna be waiting to see that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
By the way, we're doing it this I told we're
doing it. I said before the season. It's happening. It's happened.

Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
I'm done. I don't put it out there if I'm
not going to do it. I'm not that radio guy.
I didn't sell you know. I just I'm doing it.
But no bigger than gyms.

Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
I picked them to get to the Eastern Conference finals.
As I pull out my notes here when we did
our playoff preview, Uh yeah, I'm gonna stick with that.

Speaker 1 (01:25:59):
Man, give them, give me, give me them in six.
They're just they're they are rolling right now. I do
like what they have as far as Brunson going back
to back in forty point games. Only at the player
in the league right now that have back to back
forty plus playoff games, not anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
Well, not anymore, not Jamal Murrs. One of them, Anthony Edwards,
had back to back forty point playoff games.

Speaker 1 (01:26:24):
Oh yeah, that's right. Okay, that's right, that's what I say.
Not anymore. I'm sorry you're adding yeah, you're adding the
guy to it. So I had the Like I said,
I had the Pacers moving on from the Bucks. I
had the Knicks moving on from Philly. So go ahead, yeah, man,
go ahead and get me. Give me the Nickson six
and this one. I think this just might be their

(01:26:44):
year to get to the conference finals. And then the Garden.
There's something there's something Martin about May basketball and the
Oregon and the Oregon and the defensive chance and massive
square Garden, the you know the uh, it's something about
basketball and MSG in May. I've always loved it. I'm

(01:27:08):
gonna love it even more here. Man, give me the
nick A Bocas. I'll take him in six. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
I like the Knicks here too. And the question we
have is Jalen Brunson a superstar? I think he's. I
don't see why he's not.

Speaker 1 (01:27:21):
You know what I'm saying, Like, I was floored by
the response from the other day when people were saying
he's not. I'm like, Okay, then what is he? Then?
He just a good player. But I mean, I think
there's levels. I think there's levels to it.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
But again, when you look at Jalen Brunson, it seems
to me that every time he had the opportunity to
be the man he has taken, taken three steps up
and said thank you, Sarl, having another like you remember
when Luca was out.

Speaker 1 (01:27:48):
That was part of the reason why Rudy Gobert ended.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
Up getting traded because when Luca was out against Donovan Mitchell,
Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz, Jalen Brunson came in
Game one and two of that series and had thirty
plus points in tennis, right like, And I don't know,
maybe it's just comed a Michigan fan, Michigan. Michigan basketball
is one of my favorite teams.

Speaker 1 (01:28:06):
To you love Michigan basketball, you had to remember the timing.
When you love Michigan basketball, you love Michigan football.

Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Well, Michigan basketball is giving me more to love. On
the subject. Terrible scene the Darius Morris passed away man man.

Speaker 1 (01:28:25):
That was already used to play at Michigan at three
years old, Laker.

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
We used to eat in South squad, not together, but
at the same time all the time. Uh but uh
but anyway, now I lost my train of thought.

Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
Uh talking about talking about Jaylen Brunton. The Knicks.

Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Yeah, these Nova Knicks, the right the Nova Knicks they
got crowned. The villanova got crowned. I guess Michigan, not once,
but twice. Mind you you know what I'm saying, Like
it was twice that Jaylen Brunson was had me on
my couch like, would.

Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Somebody stop this guy? Somebody get in front of him,
he's five ten, do something about it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
But I saw people like alluding to the Knicks as
kind of like Boston Celtic Isaiah Thomas, which to me
is short sighted. And I'm not even trying to make
a punt on that one. Like it's not trying to
make a joke.

Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
It's just like are you doing a Tom Brady roase?
Are you part of it?

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Look, that's why I said I was legit being serious,
Like I was being absolutely serious with that. But it
does seem to me that like he is a true
traditional point guard who's also not afraid to take big time,
huge shots. And when you look at the way, it's
much more to me, and I know Maxie was getting
this comparison, but it's much more to me Alan Iverson

(01:29:40):
than it is than other guards. Because here's the thing,
Jalen Brush is a better outside shooter. I'm talking that
he's a better distributor of the ball. But when those
seventy six or seams in early two thousands were playing.
The reason why it wasn't that Alan ivers was like
a selfish play or anything like that. It was who
else the hell? Who the hell is going to shoot
the ball? Yeah, who the hell eus is going to be?
He didn't one is driving them? Who's the engine of

(01:30:02):
his car?

Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
If if Jalen Brunton goes down, the knicks are finito, Right,
They're cooked, It's over. It's the same thing with Iverson,
I don't think so like the idea like Isaiah Thomas
when he was in Boston, they had to design the
entire offense around him, right, Everything was about Isaiah Thomas.

Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
That's part of the reason.

Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
Why I was like, it's got an in a max
contract because he can't do enough to where if it's
not all about him, then it's not gonna work.

Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
So with with with Jalen brunts And I think he
can play multiple different ways, multiple different styles, But when
you see him in the biggest moments, he steps up
and though honestly.

Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
The one time he didn't, I it was that. The
only time I can really.

Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
Think on recent history that he made a crunch time
mistake was throwing throwing the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
That one on him, though, well I guess it was
on him and his teammate because he's going to shoot
into kids. Kids out there. My older brother Dinnis is listening.
He trains kids in AAU. He put his son into
the NBA and a bunch of kids in D one college.
He's listening. He knows I'm telling the truth right now.
Never leave your feet to pass. You're not Magic Johnson. Okay,

(01:31:08):
magic could do that. It is not good to leave
your feet to pass. What happened on that play was
he was gonna go up to shoot and then thought
better of it and then went to look the pass.
It's like, no, you might as well just take the shot.
Once you leave your feet. Put the orange up to
the basket. Just put it up to the beat. Don't
try to look and pass unless it's a clear uh

(01:31:29):
indication that you're the guy is gonna be prepared and
be ready for you. And that just wasn't the case.
Guy cuts to the basket because he's going for the rebound.
He's like, well he's taking a shot. Let me do
what big men are supposed to do, let me go
to the glass and let me try to get a rebound.
So that was the only mistake that he made. But
I thought that was on him and his his teammate.

(01:31:49):
But I tell you too. Two things I do want
to point out about these two coaches, And I mentioned
this a few weeks ago in a in a in
a league where we're talking about who the Lakers are
gonna hire three different coaches in six seven years. Tom
Thibodau and Rick Carlisle old school guys, Guys that hold
their superstars accountable, Guys that are that respect it, guys

(01:32:13):
that know the x's and those and can flat out
coach the pill They have their teams in the second round,
and one of those coaches are gonna coach in the
Eastern Conference playoffs. Stop telling me coaching doesn't matter. You
sound dumb as hell every time you say it. And
I'm gonna keep telling all of y'all who say that
you sound dumb as hell every time you say coach.

(01:32:36):
That's like saying parenting don't matter. Oh, parenting doesn't may
it's not, it doesn't matter how you were raised.

Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
I didn't say any of this, by the way, Okay,
So this is where VJ sometimes responds to you know,
his timeline because I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:32:48):
I'm not, You're not.

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
But you have to understand how cation is when we're
we're having a conversation that I won at one point
said this thing.

Speaker 1 (01:32:56):
Don't tell me that coach doesn't matter. It's like, who
did I did that? Martin is the one that does that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Is he ran around his studio all football season a
long about Jalen Milrow.

Speaker 1 (01:33:06):
You got they said you can't play. I'm like, who
are you talking to? Because I never said that. Martin
was right, they said you can't play Jalen Milrow.

Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
Doing here's a little revision of history, because here's the thing. Preseason,
everybody said, well, you know, Alabama, the quarterback position is
a big question mark the quarterback position. It was though
something like I said, nobody said he couldn't play like
I said, I never said it. I just thought that
there would be a game that his inexperience would show,

(01:33:35):
and it happened to be the Rose Bowl against the
Michigan wolver His inexperience to be able to get out
of bad plays, get out of situations, move lineman, the block,
these defensive Linemen.

Speaker 1 (01:33:47):
That's what I'm saying. But no, man, I wasn't you
know directing that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
You you don't say that about coaching over there, saying Alabama's
quarterback positions.

Speaker 1 (01:33:54):
I don't know Martin was running.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
It was mart was running around the studio doing just
because the kid is not freaking Mac Jones or to
a tongue about Lower or Bryce Young.

Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
All of a sudden, he's chop lever. He just can't
play anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
You think Nick Saban is recruiting a quarterback, they just
can't go outside.

Speaker 1 (01:34:13):
Just don't buy it. I just don't bounce.

Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
You see how easy it was to get I told
you you see how easy wasn't get him going on Jailer,
Bill Road. I love you guys. I can't I Ki
can play. No he gets I mean, is he a
first round pick? Probably not.

Speaker 1 (01:34:26):
We don't know. We don't know. I'm just saying, but
who cares?

Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Yeah, this is your Actually you're right right exactly what
there's a ton of guys who were not first three.

Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
You didn't have three first round getting on three quarterbacks
this year? Sure didn't. Yeah, so who knows rest of
the NFL did. But look they had top twelve grades
on him, not just first round six went in the
top twelve picks. It is still mind boggling. He can't
get over it. Can't.

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
Somehow the sixth, sixth best quarterback, right six quarter No
matter how you spin it, this sixth the best quarterback
had a higher value to certain teams than the than
any defensive player yep, than any.

Speaker 11 (01:35:08):
One of them was Turner, any one of them, like
than any that's and the next quarterback didn't go until
pick one fifty from twelve to one fifty one.

Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
Spencer Rattler, who I think is going to do very
well with the Saints. I thought he I think he's
going to do very well.

Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Like honestly, I would have rather had Rattler than McCarthy,
Pennix or Knicks.

Speaker 1 (01:35:34):
You you play you wowling? Now I was right.

Speaker 4 (01:35:40):
The ball.

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
I said it after the senior I was sitting there
watching senior ball practices and watching the different the way
they was interacting. Oh, like, YO, give me that kid,
give me me that one with the red hair. I'm
riding with j.

Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
J Aldoway. J is gonna shut so many people up.

Speaker 9 (01:35:55):
I can't wait to get his jersey if he becomes
good man, I can't wait to rocket. I'm thinking Viking jersey,
the white Viking jersey in it.

Speaker 1 (01:36:03):
If he becomes good, get the problem? How long?

Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
How long Patrick does he have to play well before
you make the determination that that's the jersey you're gonna get.

Speaker 9 (01:36:11):
Well, if he plays this year and looks good, I'll
get it immediately.

Speaker 1 (01:36:15):
Okay, let me but how long in the season is
a seventeen games?

Speaker 9 (01:36:19):
I mean it kind of has to do like if
he has like, let's just say, has a good game.
Like I'll give this as like a good example. When
I got my Devin Witherspoon jersey, It the exact moment
I knew I was getting that jersey and said go
get it was Monday night football against the Giants. We
did the pick six, and that was like, I immediately
it was like I already know he's gonna that's what
it takes.

Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
It takes j J Week three, Thursday night. Four touch
But if he does something.

Speaker 11 (01:36:45):
And I'm not gonna be thirty four touchdowns fifty two
rushing yards because he got.

Speaker 9 (01:36:50):
The like, if it's a really good, really really good night,
I'm like, all right, he's probably not gonna be like
a total like you know, bust. So I'm like, all right,
I'll risk it. I'll at that point there you go.

Speaker 1 (01:37:01):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
So that's that's all it takes JJ my Michigan, JJ
is on the way, Baby. I had to get a
custom made my Michigan get JJ's on the way.

Speaker 1 (01:37:09):
He want me and Natty. I get the jersey. When
you win me and Natty, then you get the tattoo.
That's Oh. I can't wait. It's gonna be It's gonna
be beautiful. I can't wait. Coming up next, Uh hell on,
coming up? We got Themarse uh coming up?

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Yeah, our first wive of conversation about what to do
in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (01:37:29):
And I'm not talking about sink of Tomaio Martin and
v J Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Martin VJ comes to your life from the Tirereck dot
Com Studios.

Speaker 1 (01:37:40):
You can have something two cents on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
It's at Martin Weiss, at Big Vanilla Funny and of
course at Fox Sports Radio. Between at Martin Weiss and
that Big Vanilla Funny, I let you figure out who's who.
Uh So, George says has a trivia question.

Speaker 1 (01:37:55):
I know the answer to.

Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
Let's see if you do vj Okay, George Sands rights
Briani to the Lakers. The two thousand and seven two
thousand and eight Lakers had four sons of former NBA
players on their roster.

Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
Who were they hold on? What's the question again?

Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
The two thousand and seven to two thousand and eight
Los Angeles Lakers had four NBA legacy players, right, players?
Who's off the top of my head the NBA walling Yep,
that's all I got?

Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
You got one more? I got one more? Oh oh man, Sorry, sorry, mamba,
my bad mamba. Cole Okay, I was about to say
my bad Cove. I'm sorry. I was into that bond
Jovi going right now. That's from space Balls, and I
believe the other two would be no, tell me now?
You got me invested? Well? Right?

Speaker 6 (01:38:48):
You?

Speaker 1 (01:38:49):
Oh you said you got him?

Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:38:50):
I knew you got it and I knew him.

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
I was just I have to think of the team, okay,
Kobe Kobe wall and and this is old old what teams?
This is the eighth seven o eight, So this is
the year they go and they lose the Boston.

Speaker 1 (01:39:05):
Okay, this is the year they go and use the Boston.
So pal no Lamar hell, no, we know that story.
Sasha Shannon Brown. Shannon Brown was not on this team.
Shannon Brown went on the squad. Okay, he didn't win
a ring.

Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
With them, Uh cold Walton and being guy's not him,
that is that he's he was on the roster.

Speaker 1 (01:39:28):
I know, I know he was on the roster. Mom,
Ronnie terry Off did is dad? Blayne Ronnie Torriov don't
believe that's all right? Give me the other two. You
said you got it. Brian Cook's dad played a season
in the NBA. Oh god, I would have never got that.
The only reason I know that, How do you know

(01:39:48):
that I was watching a Summer League game about ten
years ago. This is no joke.

Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
I was watching the summer that gave up ten years ago,
and I always like, this is bat before Summer League
was the thing that other people did.

Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
It's like I was just watching it because it's the
middle of the summer. I would DVR all the games
and I will watch him and pull up the rosters
and so on.

Speaker 1 (01:40:09):
I saw that Brian Cook. You know, you look at
the experience on the sides, it's like a lot of
his A R. R.

Speaker 2 (01:40:14):
Rookie, rookie, rookie, rookie rooie, and every so often you
got like seven year guy, eight year guy, ten year guy.

Speaker 1 (01:40:19):
Well, Brian Cook. At that point, it had been in
the Bay for thirteen seasons, I think.

Speaker 2 (01:40:23):
So I googled him and I learned then just like
googled him, went through his Wikipedia page and then found
that out.

Speaker 1 (01:40:28):
And George Carl's son was a rookie on that team.
Oh wow, Keoby Carl Oby.

Speaker 2 (01:40:35):
Yeah, not do much in the NBA at all, but
was a is a is answer to a trivia question.

Speaker 1 (01:40:40):
And if you know anything about me, that's that's George.
You ain't stomp us baby. It's a team over here,
Maren God, but we a team over here. Man shout
out to George Carl former Tar hill Man went through
cancer and all that stuff that he went through and
Keemo and stuff and beat them. Remember when they were
playing in the playoffs and he was going through going
through like the chemo treat I.

Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
Wish you would sign off social media these days though. Yeah,
he's how about this Martin White's update desk as we
wait for Moncie In just a moment here, Anthony Edwards
has joined one other player consecutive forty point games at
age twenty two or younger.

Speaker 1 (01:41:21):
Do you have a guess who the other player is?
Now this set?

Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
This feels like it would be easy, but I do
have to remember that Jordan played three years in Carolina.

Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
So it is not Michael Jordan. Okay, so that takes
Jordan out. And what's the age twenty two or younger?
Forty in just one forty point game consecutive forty secondive
forty point games in the postseason at twenty two and under.
This feels like an old guy. You know what we'll do?

Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
Moncey, Why don't you go ahead and give vej about
two and a half minutes to try to think?

Speaker 1 (01:42:00):
But also, MONSI loved the highlights I just picked. I
just I just noticed that the way the light is
hitting you now that the sun is setting outside the highlights. Mama,
I see you? Is that the summer? Is that the summer? Look?

Speaker 4 (01:42:13):
That is just something?

Speaker 1 (01:42:14):
Okay? You know.

Speaker 6 (01:42:15):
I went to see my girl and I sat down.
She's like, what are we doing? I was like, I
don't know, just.

Speaker 1 (01:42:20):
To do something work. It's time.

Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
Like I've seen enough movies to know that when a
lot of times when girls are going through something in
their personal life, they cut their hair, change their hair.

Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
So I'm sorry the clippers did that to you.

Speaker 4 (01:42:31):
Right, No, I didn't the clippers, but I just was like,
I need you. I don't know if I saw me
all last year, I had like purple hair, and I'm.

Speaker 1 (01:42:38):
Remember the purple. I remember the purple. Light little she
think you were doing.

Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
Yeah, so she was like, we're gonna do purple again,
and I was like, I don't think so, but let's
go lighter, gonna go in and she just went in.
Shout out to Bianca. Thanks girl, Bianca, Thanks girl. All right, guys,
we're gonna check it in Major League Baseball first, because
I don't know what's in the water, but everybody is scoring,

(01:43:02):
everybody is running. So for the Dodgers, it started with
Max Munsey, a solo shot, then or a two run shot.

Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
Then it was Shoeyotani.

Speaker 6 (01:43:11):
He officially broke the record for the most home runs
by a Japanese born player in Dodgers franchise history. Who
did he surpass his own manager, Dave Roberts. Then Anti Pahes,
who is a rookie that the Dodgers called up about
a month ago. Hit another home run. So the Dodgers
are beating the Braves seven to one. They're about to
start the sixth inning. The Padres eleven zero against the

(01:43:33):
Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
They're about to.

Speaker 6 (01:43:36):
Start the bottom of the eighth inning. The Padres just
acquired Luis Aries from the Miami Marlins. He's the first
Padre in history to have a four game hit in
his debut. The Marlins really missed him. Guys against the
A's twenty to four. Oakland scored ten runs in the
third inning, ended with twenty against the Marlins.

Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
Just ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (01:43:59):
Phillies teen to three against the Giants, the Rangers fifteen
to four against the Royals. I don't know what is
in the water, but everybody is scoring tonight in baseball.

Speaker 4 (01:44:10):
Now in the.

Speaker 6 (01:44:11):
NBA, it was Anthony Edwards who's scoring and forty three points?

Speaker 4 (01:44:14):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (01:44:14):
Do you know who it is yet? VJ consecutive forty
point games?

Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
Yeah? I got three names written down here, but I'm
gonna take a stab at it. Is it Lebron?

Speaker 2 (01:44:22):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:44:22):
But keep thinking, do you have it?

Speaker 1 (01:44:25):
I do know it finish?

Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the Timberwolves took Gay one from
the Nuggets.

Speaker 6 (01:44:30):
What altitude one O six ninety nine was the final
Edwards forty three points Nicola Yogics thirty two eight and
nine was his stat line. Other NBA news, Maxi Kleiba
of the Mavericks. He's expected to miss the rest of
the postseason after suffering a full dislocation of the AC
joint in his shoulder in last night's Game six win
over the Clippers. A Game seven happening in the NHL,

(01:44:53):
fifteen minutes to go in the third period, maple Leaves
Bruins are still scoreless, so this is.

Speaker 4 (01:44:58):
A Game seven. Nobody he wants to lose.

Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
Toronto has twenty four shots, while Boston has nineteen shots
less than fifteen minutes to go, still scoreless.

Speaker 4 (01:45:07):
Game seven in hockey.

Speaker 1 (01:45:10):
Back to you, hey, Monty, I need overtime, Yes, yeah, yeah,
overtime in this you know the hockey game.

Speaker 4 (01:45:15):
I thought about you. You figured.

Speaker 1 (01:45:18):
I got one more. I just a one more name
real fast for the doors. We gotta get Bird, Larry Bird.

Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
You're thinking too hard, No, you're thinking too hard.

Speaker 2 (01:45:24):
Here, I'll give you one more hit and we'll do it.
At the end of this sepondent with the marsh. I
don't want to keep a hold along the line too long.
We have said his name today. There's your hint said
is that today? Let's get Demarja in here, you suck Mark.
We ain't talking at Larry Bird today. Okay, all right,
we've said his today. Okay, all right, that's us DeMar J. Morris,
MLB bro Content Reporter as we come to you live
from the tire rack dot Com Studios.

Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
Themar Jay.

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Do you know Anthony Edwards has joined this player with
consecutive forty point games at age twenty two or younger
in NBA postseason history.

Speaker 1 (01:45:54):
You know the name.

Speaker 3 (01:45:55):
He's gotta be Kobe.

Speaker 2 (01:45:57):
Demarja from baseball all the way to basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:46:05):
Look at him? What can I say?

Speaker 7 (01:46:07):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:46:08):
The Bee? You got it. It's the Bee.

Speaker 7 (01:46:10):
Let's go baby.

Speaker 2 (01:46:12):
All right now, I hate to turn around and do
this serie, but you said you wanted to the Marja
the Angels.

Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
What's going on? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
All right?

Speaker 7 (01:46:20):
Look? You know, look man hitting me out. Look, you
know it's fans. There's times you can become delusion though.
You know Laker fans and Cowboys fans know what I'm
talking about. But yeah, sometimes you can force itself to
become delusional. You start seeing things and scenarios that you
know just aren't gonna happen. I got a little too excited,
and I wasn't just wrong. I was tripping. Yeah, Angels

(01:46:41):
ain't win No. Eighty five games.

Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
Man, I saw the picture of you, your son at
the game. Your son is rooting for other teams.

Speaker 7 (01:46:49):
Now you took the game, watched the video. I didn't
notice ho I watched the video. When I heard the
guy say, now batting for the Phillies, that's when he said,
let's go, I said.

Speaker 1 (01:47:01):
For the other team. That's hilarious. So so let's stay there.
What's wrong? Twelve and twenty one? What's I mean? Ron
Washington was supposed to come in here change things. Trout's
now hurt. What's like? What's what's what's happening here with them?

Speaker 7 (01:47:17):
The main thing is the pitching. That's the main thing.

Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
I mean.

Speaker 7 (01:47:20):
Offense was cool for a minute, and you know, we
kind of slowed down a little bit, but I figured,
you know, we would pick it back up at some point.
But of course, going down that doesn't hurt when don't
hurt again. Uh, But yeah, it's mainly just the pitcher man.
That's how I understand why we didn't make any moves
in the offseason, knowing that's what we needed. So I
don't know. And then we drafted all those pitchers a
couple of years back, and you know where they at,

(01:47:40):
you know, so I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:47:42):
One guy.

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
One guy who did make a move today wasn't in
the off season, but two time batting champion Luis Rayas,
who I mean just knocks the cover off the ball right.

Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
He just is an ultimate contact hitter.

Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
He moved from the Miami Marlins, who last week checked
were down half a trillion, to the Oakland A's today
and now it's gonna be in the batting lineup for
the San Diego Padres.

Speaker 1 (01:48:03):
What does this mean for San Diego?

Speaker 7 (01:48:06):
They couldn't have made a better move. In my opinion,
I think he's going to be a great spark for
this offense. I mean, just having the two time batting
champ lead that lineup and you know, follow them up
with Tatis Bogart's, Cronenwerth Machado like, they're gonna be fun
and exciting to watch. I already enjoyed watching them this season,
even though you know they kind of been up and down,
off to a slow start, but it's a huge It's
a huge signing.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Man.

Speaker 7 (01:48:26):
I just I want to see if they can compete
with the Dodgers of the division. I'm pretty sure Dodgers
are still winning, but I want to see if this
would be that extra little unk they need. And it's
gonna be interesting in the postseason. Look, I definitely think
they'll make the postseason the season.

Speaker 1 (01:48:39):
Tomar Ja. When I was a kid, one of my
favorite players was Kirby Puckett. Kirby Puckett used to play
for the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota Twins are a twelve game
win streak right now, it's still a game and a
half at the first place.

Speaker 2 (01:48:51):
The hell how you win twelve games this early in
the year and not in first place?

Speaker 1 (01:48:56):
But is this sustainable? Is this who they are? They
just on a little run or is this a team
we should seriously look at us? Say hey, August September,
y'all better be looking up towards the Twin Cities. They've
been getting to the playoffs, but they can actually make
some noise and make a run in the postseason.

Speaker 7 (01:49:12):
Yeah, I think they heard me. A couple of weeks
ago when I was saying, oh, it looks like there's
gonna be a rough season for them. Well, I mean
when you looked at it at that time, though their
offensive stats are terrible, they were ranking at the bottom,
in the bottom of the league and almost you know,
a bunch of different categories twenty five, twenty eight, twenty seven,
so and then all of a sudden, right after that
are what was it? Yeah, I think it was like
two weeks ago. Right after that, they turned it around,

(01:49:34):
picked it up, and they got on this roll. And
I mean, yeah, they're balling right now. First, what was
the first twelve game win streak and thirty three years
something like that. That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:49:42):
How they've been able to do it, though, break it
down for us, man, give us a little more how
they've been able to do it.

Speaker 7 (01:49:46):
Oh, the pitching's been phenomenal. Yeah, the pitching has been great.
The pitching has been a strength of this team pretty
much all season. So they've been able to sustain that
and hold it down. Then obviously, you know, the offense
has picked it up over this win streak, definitely scoring
more runs. So yeah, but I got to give it
to the pitchure though, they've been holding holding it down
for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:50:03):
All right, let's go, let's move on and talk about
real quick.

Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
Let's see where here it is, all right, Garrett Cole,
he's talking about the picture for the Angels, the picture
for that. How about Aaron Judge getting ejected to the
first injection today in his career.

Speaker 1 (01:50:16):
But Garret hole is ramping up for a June return.

Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
What does that mean for the Yankees as they progressed
the season?

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
Just real quick?

Speaker 7 (01:50:23):
That umpire that was he was soft for that, for
throwing Judge that he shouldn't have been thrown out for that.
He got, he got in his feelings. He was super
sensitive on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
James is transitioning to the.

Speaker 7 (01:50:37):
But no, Garrett Cole, you know he's ramping up for
his return. You know, he finally threw off the mound,
so he said he felt good. So I think they
said they're expecting him to be back in about June.
But I mean that's another picture rotation. Who's been holding
it down, So shout out to those guys. But yeah,
that's gonna be huge once they get him back. Good
thing they've been able to keep winning because who would
have been rough if they were losing.

Speaker 1 (01:50:57):
Cole the margin. You and I were talking late last night, man,
we were talking about Corey Seeger and my beloved Texas Rangers,
and you know, there's there's always a championship hangover sometimes
for teams like that. I've watched almost just about every game.
They're not getting blown out and just beating up and
down the diamond just feels like little things here and there.
There's still a plus twenty three right now, and they're

(01:51:19):
they're wallaping uh their opponent today and looks like they'll
be able to move in the first place in the
Al West. But is this is this a World series hangover?
Are should I be looking a little deeper into my
Rangers and there might be something there that we just
don't see now because we're saying, oh, it's just a
World series hangover.

Speaker 7 (01:51:39):
I think it is. I think it is just a
World Series hangover. This team is so talented, man, they're
so lowly like they're they'll be fine. There's just a
rough start. The whole team in general got off to
a slow start.

Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Yeah, just so, and regard to say.

Speaker 7 (01:51:52):
Yeah, once Nathaniel logets back in his groove, like, you know,
because he just came back recently. You know, he's got
a couple of games under his belt. But once he
really starts going like this, offense to be fine.

Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
All right now, finally, I'm looking here at the Dodgers.
Right now, they're pounding the Brave seven to one. As
the ending ends and a Zuna strikes out, Uh, what
do you think? What's the Dodgers outlook, especially when you
consider the pitching as Tyler glasne is on the mount today.

Speaker 1 (01:52:16):
Look, seventy three pitchers or so through six innings.

Speaker 7 (01:52:20):
That's one of the main reasons to be excited for
the Dodger fans. You know, they're pitching is starting to
get healthy. They got Bieler coming back soon. I believe
he was throwing off the mound as well. Bobby Miller.
He's throwing not on the mound or off the mound,
but he's throwing right now. And then Dustin May he
should be back in about maybe a month and a half,
two months, you know, two months, two and a half months.
So once they can get those guys back, we already

(01:52:41):
know what the offense too. We got to you know,
talk about that. But yeah, once they get those arms
back and then with the guys they got watch out
one hundred plus games. That's we already know that.

Speaker 1 (01:52:50):
That's easy.

Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
Well, if there's any Hunter game winner on this show,
it'll be you, Tomarsaymores. I'm sorry, man, sorry for your angels.
But that's the thing about kids. Man, They're gonna do
what they want to do. You can't force it on him.

Speaker 1 (01:53:00):
You know what I'm saying. He's forcing on him one father,
my father to another. You tell him who he's cheering for,
I said, one father to another. You tell him who
he's cheering for.

Speaker 7 (01:53:12):
Oh yeah, you already. I'm gonna keeputting that angel gear
on him.

Speaker 2 (01:53:16):
Well when you gonna when he's gonna turn nine and
be like, why do I root for this?

Speaker 1 (01:53:21):
Exactly? All right, Thanks for joining us.

Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
Thanks always for your insight and intelligence when it comes
to the diamond and also in basketball, knowing Kobe Bryant.

Speaker 1 (01:53:33):
Was that was good. Yeah, Wade was gonna be my
next guess. Appreciate gods man. All right.

Speaker 2 (01:53:41):

I saw this video. You know, VJ doesn't follow me.
He blocked me on all.

Speaker 1 (01:53:58):
The social media accounts.

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
But our former producer, Brand the Truth actually texted me
this video, Brandon, of you just sitting there eating.

Speaker 1 (01:54:07):
A sandwich in response to some news. What news was that?
We'll find out next, Martin VJ, Fox Sports Radio. Martin VJ.

Speaker 2 (01:54:17):
Coming to your line from the Tirereck dot Com studios.
A little Miami field going on right now from Mary
mac and it's probably because they go there Maya quickly
approaching Sinco de may Own. But also some news out
of vja's favorite football team.

Speaker 1 (01:54:38):
Ah man, how was that sandwich? By?

Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
It was the first of all. Was delicious is hell?
It was coming off of us, ruined the taste?

Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
Nah, I didn't. It actually made me eat it faster,
just so I can have some pleasure in my life.
I have no idea why my beloved Dolphins would do this,
I really don't. I know.

Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
We need well they can tell the people what they did.
They know up everybody know they signed Odell Beckham Junior.
There you go, they signed Odell Beckham Junior, who I've
been banging on for the last three years, possibly because
the guy's done.

Speaker 1 (01:55:09):
I took the under on all his Vegas numbers last year,
and I cashed in on all of them. Catches, yards
and touchdowns. I cashed in on all of them. He's
just not a He's not a productive player anymore. He's
not a player you can win with anymore. Being what
is he there for?

Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
Now?

Speaker 1 (01:55:28):
You go to Tyreek and Waal are the horses. What
are you gonna do? You're you're not gonna play in
the slot now. That is one thing that I do
think it does, dude, that I do like is it
now puts Jalen in the slot where he can just
murder or and kill defensive acts. But Odell Beckham Junior

(01:55:50):
just got out of a seven month relationship with Kim Kardashian.
I don't want that on my team, man, I don't.
I don't want that on my I don't want you to,
he was. I don't want because it matters. It does matter.
If y'all think, well, pro at least they don't matter,
You're dead wrong. I think it doesn't matter. Oh I do,
I do? I go, I don't give a good go. Yeah.
Who I didn't say I cared. I didn't say I cared.

(01:56:10):
But don't think it doesn't play in some mindset. How
you take care of yourself, how you focus, how you
lock it. Oh yeah, it's got a lot to do it,
all of that. But I just I'm you know, And
then I saw three different numbers marks, So maybe you
can't help me out here because I was so disgusted
with this move, I ain't even really looking to the numbers.
I saw three, five and eight. How much is he getting?
The basis three? Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
So it was reported initially as see that's the thing
they love doing up to.

Speaker 1 (01:56:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:56:38):
Yeah, Like imagine this guy says, you know, you can
make up two one hundred thousand on the radio, but
we're gonna pay it in exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:56:45):
Cause I would because now I want to know what
I gotta do to get to one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
Grand, right, So it's heavily incentivized this contract. Okay, but
the base pay is three million dollars, okay, that I'm
not mattering to eight point two five million dollars, which
means there is five million to twenty five point two
five million dollars that are you know that he'll never see. Well,
it depends on what he does that. Okay, here you go,

(01:57:09):
Here you go, here you go. If he does it,
he'll get the money. He is not going to do nothing.
I'm telling you this sitting here on May fourth, twenty
twenty four, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
On Martin VJ. Right now, I've been cool off show.
Don't y'all piss me off at the end. He ain't
doing a damn thing for the Dolphins this year. Why
would you do this move? We need a possession guy.
I get it. You want a bigger guy. I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
This feels like he signed with Miami so he can
chill and chase all the beneath the SaaS around down
there and Miami because there's plenty of them, and that's
what he does.

Speaker 1 (01:57:40):
He not in the football. This ain't way he do.
He missed games football. I told you guys last year
when he was gonna be foot Baltimore. Oh VJ. Who
was right? Just tell me who was right? Who wasn't?

Speaker 9 (01:57:51):
Like?

Speaker 1 (01:57:51):
Stop man, this this pissed me off. Wait till the
June one cuts. There'll be another receiver coming. I saw
Clay Poole just signed with Buffalo. You tried that last year,
that didn't work. You're gonna just keep trying.

Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
You're about to say, would you rather have Chase Taple,
because yeah, that was the last pass of the season.

Speaker 1 (01:58:07):
Yes, sent to Chase. That's fine. But I much rather
would have kept him, had him, had him in.

Speaker 2 (01:58:12):
A facility and worked with Tour and the other receivers
all this year. Because we got him at the trade deadline.
So you're trying to you know, you're trying to get
him acclimated.

Speaker 1 (01:58:20):
Yes, I would have much rather kept a younger guy
who's trying to really prove himself. All Odell Beckham is
trying to do is collect checks. Right now, I'm never
about veterans trying to ring Chase or collect checks because
you're not getting the real player. You're getting the reason
why they want to be there and why they still
want to play. He's got nothing left in the tank.

(01:58:41):
Tell me what Odell Beckham's got left in the tank.
Put the tape on. This ain't the Rams three years ago.
Put the tape on.

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
You know, Jaylen Ramsey said, you know what happened the
last time that the two linked up.

Speaker 1 (01:58:52):
It was cute, I retweeted it. It was cute. I
fill him on that. But that's not the same guy, man,
that's doesn't here. Here's the deal. There's no guarantee he
makes this team. They drafted a receiver right of UVA.
You guys need to go put the tape on them
with this kid. They drafted a receiver from UVA who's
got burners, just went for fourteen fifteen hundred yards at UVA, okay,

(01:59:14):
with nothing else around him and the average quarterback throwing
him to. The VA was one of the worst teams
in Power five less exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:59:21):
I mean, there's a lot of other things that make
that helped along the way.

Speaker 1 (01:59:25):
Yeah, of course, of course, of course, yes, yeah, yeah.
And I went to high school and played winning against
a lot of guys who went to UV and played football.
Sod Brooks, a good friend of mine, went on to
play for the San Francisco forty nine ers, being one
of them. But this move right here, man, it's just
you know, Martin, you know what, I'm gonna go out there.

Speaker 2 (01:59:44):
I'm gonna go out. I'm gonna go out, Mark. Can
I put one on the board today? Can I put
one on the board?

Speaker 1 (01:59:48):
You can put it on the bar. Yeah, and put
it on the board. Man.

Speaker 2 (01:59:53):
Odell Beckham Junior might not even make this roster he he,
but it's gonna be tight. It's gonna be tight.

Speaker 1 (02:00:03):
They got some receivers, man, I'm telling you they bringing
some guys in this might have this, you know, cut
some cut some losses. Early smart businessmen will tell you
what works, double down fast, what doesn't.

Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
Get rid of It's like dating advice. I give what works,
double down fast. What doesn't work in your data life,
get rid of it fast. Don't try to make things work.

Speaker 1 (02:00:25):
You're gonna eat the three million dollars that's gonna be white.
Vj's fed up. That's all right.

Speaker 2 (02:00:33):
Aaron Martin, I mean Aaron Torres and Jason Martin coming
up here.

Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
Bless guys. We out
