Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yes, Living and dream here once again on a fully
loaded sports Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday, and we're

(00:27):
They have this gentleman once again sitting next to me
here today the great olden Polonies is here, and olden
not one, but two two game sevens. Let me ask
you right out of the box. In your fifteen years
playing in the NBA, how many games sevens did you
participate in?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, unfortunately, we weren't doing seven games. We weren't doing five.
You didn't get to seven games until the finals. But
I think I did one. I think I did one.
I'm not even sure. But we're doing a lot of
five game series.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Well, and then those game fives. The same thing. I mean,
the idea of one of the reasons we love the
NCAA basketball tournament every year is the one and done right,
I mean, everything rides on every game. You have one
bad game, gone see you later. Doesn't matter if the
other team you beat the other team nine out of
ten times on that day, they beat you and you
get eliminated. So when you get into an elimination game,

(01:27):
give us a sense of just the heightened senses, the
overall feeling as you come out of that locker room
going on the court knowing it's either do or die.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Okay, So I have to put it this way. It's
going to be dependent on if you're the home team,
if you're the favorite, you know, road team, whatever. It
all depends on those situations as well. We had a
situation where we had Utah right in an elimination game,
game five, and so it was after the Riots. So

(02:02):
they beat us in Utah two games, We come down
here and beat them two games. We had to move
to Anaheim and then we go to Utah. So here's
the mentality when you get to that point. So when
we get to Utah, even before then, it's like wein
the no lose situation, all we have to do is

(02:24):
just relax, go out there and play. They were supposed
to sweep us. You know, you start doing all those
things in your mind. They were supposed to sweep us,
they were supposed to kick our butts, but they did.
Now we have a chance, and this is the one game. Man.
We got up on them nineteen points. Then Larry Brown
wanted to coach.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Wait a second, that's my guy, Larry Brown.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I don't give a damn. Larry summed me out the game,
and that was it. Sometimes coaches coach at the wrong time.
Because we got that nineteen point lead based on shait,
energy and dumb luck. Had nothing to do with coaching,
had nothing to do with anything we talked about. It

(03:10):
was just sheer, luck and energy. That was it, all right.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I want to ask you, I'm glad you brought up
coaching because in this matchup between the Pacers and the Knicks,
you have two veteran coaches. These guys have either been
head coaches or assistant coaches for a long long time
in this league, Thibodeaux and Carlisle. And it's again a
game seven Pacers just one of those. I mean, they

(03:40):
really reflect their coach, Carlisle in a lot of ways.
Thibodeau has done a marvelous job of holding this team together.
Is the next team with all the injuries they have
on an Obi, if he is back, I think that's
going to be a game changer. But when you have
veteran coaches, guys that have been here, done that, do

(04:00):
you think their perspective on their roles in this game
seven are clear to them. You just talked about over coaching,
do you tend to since the teams are obviously so
familiar with each other, you get to a seventh game
as a veteran coach, do you think that you may
take a step back and let the players pretty much

(04:22):
decide what's gonna happen on the court.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
You have to if it's close, the coaches come into play.
That's pretty much it. Indian, it's gonna come out hot
most likely early on. The Knicks are gonna make their runs.
Both teams are gonna make runs, and so to me,
it's gonna come down. It's not really gonna Like I said,
it doesn't come down and coaching until it's close. Then
you gotta call a time out and enjoy the right play.

(04:45):
It's stuff like that. But at the same time, your
stars have to show up. You know, stars have to
show up. Brunson has to show up. D Vinceanzo has
to show up. If Og plays, he has to show up.
Josh Hart has Pascal has to show up, Tyreez has
to show up, Miles Turner. You guys have to ball out.

(05:07):
You know, we watched the game yesterday. Those guys showed up.
But it was a guy like PJ. Washington who made
the most critical play of the game, you know. But
Kyrie stepped up prior to that, knocking down a couple
of threes, you know, getting to that right hand drive,
pull up jumpers, and so to me, and then you
get a kid like a Derek Riley who steps up
gets a double double. That's huge. So guys have to

(05:29):
step up and so to me, that's gonna be the
key for them. But coaching, it's I mean, you're right,
two similar style coaches that players tend to take on
the coach's personalities, and both of them are fiery to
a certain extent. Thibodeau's got like a little Tibodau' is
a guy. When I look at him, I'm like, if

(05:50):
you had a fight with Thibodeau, it will be the
longest fight of your life. You might end up beating him,
but you gonna know you've been in a fight. He's
just going to keep coming and coming and coming. And
so to me, that's the Knicks' personality. They keep coming
and coming and coming. It doesn't matter what the score is.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
We talked about your former Virginia teammate Rick Carlisle last week.
Let me ask about Tom Thibodau. I mean, this guy
was an assistant in the league for twenty years, twenty
years before he finally got that opportunity with the Bulls
and of course immediately was coach of the Year. He
did in Minnesota. Obviously he's doing it with the Knicks
right now. And you know, for instance, we're looking at

(06:32):
the Lakers right they're going through the process. I think
this is good for the Lakers to not make a
hasty decision. Let's let's review the candidates, let's see what
we've got. But when a guy like Thibodeaux, because we
saw Darvin Ham, he was another guy that had been
a long time assistant. He was a guy that was
glorified as a real locker room guy, like a guy

(06:54):
that has value on your assistant coaching staff that things
get a little chippy in the locker room. He has
a way as a former played or sort of you know,
settle things down a little bit, something maybe a head
coach doesn't deal with. But when you look at a
guy like Tom Thibodeau, why was it a that it
took so long for him to get an opportunity be
a head coach in the league? And why has he
been a successful coach in this league?

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Well? Number one, why it takes so long? Because it does.
I mean these guys they go through, they'll hire the
name guys, you know, make the splash highs and all that,
and eventually they find out that, Okay, this guy can coach.
I'll tell you this about Thibodeau. You hear a lot
of time people, Oh he's hard on people. Well, pat
Riley was hard on players too. He won championships. I

(07:39):
mean guys, I've golf with you know, former Laker players,
former Nick players, were on the golf course. You know,
everything goes and they're like, man, he took five years
off my career. He did you got a championship? Like, yeah,
we did. And so it's like this, there's a give
and take. I remember when he was in Minnesota, you know,

(08:00):
Jimmy Butler. Some players don't like to be coached hard,
which is a disrespect to the game. I don't mind
coaches that yelling, screaming, but it's like, if they have
a purpose to it, I'm okay with it. And so
to me, Thibodau is one of those guys, Hey, I
expect you to work hard, kind of like Jemmy Sloan.

(08:23):
You just got to come in, do your job, work hard,
give it all you got, and that's it. All the
extras they don't want to deal with. You know, Tiberdau's
one of those guys. He's old school. He's not trying
to deal with the extras. And so that's why I
took Thibodeau's side with that whole Minnesota situation, because when
you talk to every other player, they love playing for

(08:45):
him because those players play hard. It's always the guys
that are like the divas that don't want to mess
with Thibodeaux.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Jalen Brunson, I mean it really comes down to Brunson. Tonight,
you mentioned the fact that in games like this, your
stars have to be big, they have to have an impact.
Jalen Brunson top five voting in the MVP. That's pretty amazing.
Did you ever see that coming when Brunson came out

(09:15):
of Villanova, that he was going to be this level player.
And where did the Knicks go from here? Now that
Brunson has raised his game to this level, really in
the absence of Julius Randall, how does that work down
the road for the Knicks once Randall's back.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Well, the Knicks in a great situation right now. The
fact that they have those three Villainova players. They it's
the greatest thing I've ever seen because each one holds
each other accountable based on their history in college. And
so that's a great thing to have. You know, where

(09:54):
not only your star, the guy that's making a ton
of money right now, who people said that contract you
know wasn't deserved. They can hold jail In accountable. Jail
and can hold Josh. Josh can hold it Dante, Dante
holds you know, you know what I mean. And so
it's like they hold each other accountable, which is a
great thing. Now, the problem the Knicks have is a

(10:16):
great problem to have. You're succeeding without a couple of
your main guys Mitchell Robinson, defensive guy, Jewish Randall, Bogdanovich.
So but you're still succeeding I personally, if I'm Leon
Rose and I'm Worldwide West, I'm getting rid of Julius Randall.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I was gonna say, he does.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Not fit that squad that go hard, team first mentality.
He does not have it. I'm sorry, no direspect to him.
But he might want to do it every now and then,
but it's not consistent and it's not natural for him,
and so to me, I get rid of him. They
are poised to have to get a star financially with

(11:01):
the Sari cap. I will go after somebody that fits
that mold. You cannot bring a diva in. You gotta
bring another hard nos superstar, somebody that's gonna give it
us all. I mean, it's not possible, but along the
lines of a Yannis. But I think even Giannis now
is getting a little diva ish.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Interesting, all right, That game, of course, is gonna tip off.
Talking about the Pacers and Knicks at the Garden, that
game will tip off in a little more than an hour.
Coming up on the Earth, sir, We're gonna take a
look at what happened last night as the Dallas Mavericks

You'll see this show posted right after we had off
the air. We just have a tremendous amount to talk
about today. By the way, the PGA Golf Championship final
rounds going on. The leaders will be team off here
in about ten minutes, so we're going to keep our
eye on the final round of the second major of
the golf season. Let's get back to last night. The
Dallas Mavericks Punch. They're taking into the Western Conference finals

(13:13):
with a come from behind victory against the OKC Thunder. Remember,
going into the postseason, the Thunder were the number one
seeded team in the West. The mazret number five. They
took care of the four seed, the Clips. Now they
have knocked off the one seed, the OKASE OKC Thunder.
All right, let's let's talk first about a decision that

(13:34):
was made late in the game, and that was a
challenge by OKAC coach Diagnaal.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Two.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
They were looking at a play in which there was
a block and it was all ball. There was no question.
The question was was the was the block before the
arm hit and I'm not sure if Dingnall was one
hundred percent sure about this. This guy, of course, the
coach of the year this year, you're in the NBA.
But he challenged it. They ruled against his challenge, and

(14:04):
in the end, the thunder did not have any timeouts,
which could be critical obviously, and what ended up a
one point game. What did you think of the call?
What did you think of his challenge?

Speaker 3 (14:16):
I thought it a great call. I thought it was
a great call. Why do I was forgetting to press
that button. I thought it was a great call because
the referee. If you watch that play, the referee didn't
blow the whistle with the hand on the ball. He
waited until pass the ball on the arm band blew
the whistle. So to me, it's like you got to

(14:39):
know some of the rules and how it plays out,
but you know, not everybody's familiar with the rules, which
is fine, but as a coach, you have to use
the challenge in that point. Yeah, you may have needed it,
but it was the right call for him as well,
because I need to get that clear and so I

(15:00):
had no problems either way. You know, definitely a great
call because it was exactly right. And then he got
his three shots. I was most surprised by the fact
that he made both free throws and then had, as
you stated, the perfect miss.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Perfect miss by Washington. I mean, in a situation like
that where obviously okay see has no timeouts, you want
to miss that really prevents them from getting any reasonable
shot to win the game.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Exactly, it was perfect bounce high enough by the time
he got the rebound, you know, hit the rim, one
second rebound, secured one and a half two outlet buzzer.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
All right, Now, before we get into the Mavericks as
they move on to the Western Conference finals, I do
want to stop with OKAC. This is a team average
age twenty four, twenty four, number one seed in the West.
My question going into the playoffs were they ready for
prime time? And at times appeared yes, at times that

(16:02):
appeared no. But I want to, in particular ask you
about Gilgess Alexander who was gifted to OKC and the
now infamous Paul George trade where the Clippers not only
gave this young player, but also what four or five
number one picks in order to satisfy the desire of
Kawhi Leonard to come to Clippers only if he had

(16:25):
Paul George as a teammate, So the deal was done.
Every time I watch Shay Gilgess Alexander play, every time
I hear him speak after games, he has an amazing
maturity level. He has a mature game, He's clutch. He
hit some huge shots. You know that three point shot

(16:46):
and to look like that Dallas had the game won.
I mean, that was just ice by Gilgess Alexander. But
give me a preview what we're going to see from
this kid over the next five years or so.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Well, Oklahoma City's gonna be the team of the NBA. Wow,
because they've been built, they took their lumps. Presty is
incredible GM, he really is, and he still has more
in the tank. As far as draft picks, this man
is insane. He is insane. He's the collector of draft picks.

(17:22):
And so to me, I think, you know, Homegrown's bright future,
the Williams is bright future. They need a veteran and
they need another point guard. They need a regular old
point guard that can distribute because Shay is not a
point guard. He made a nice pass to home Grim
last night, but he's not a passer first point guard.

(17:45):
He's a scoring guard and that's all the is to it.
I'm gonna get my buckets regardless of my teammates, and
that hurts them sometimes. We thought it was gonna be giddy,
but he found his way in the dog some way somehow.
So I don't know what's going on with that, but
they do need a regular old point guard and another veteran.

(18:07):
You know, Gordon Haywood doesn't play enough to be that veteran.
It has to be a playing veteran. But their future
is bright, all right.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
So even though we've had over the breed what four
years now revolving to our of NBA champions you can
actually predict that Oklahoma City the thunder will win an
NBA championship in the near future.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
I will say that as sure as I said Dallas
is gonna win in six Oklahoma City if they do,
if they get that point guard and get that veteran,
they will win a championship before Shake Gilgers has gone
from that team.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
All right, Let's get to the Dallas Mavericks as they
are in the NBA Western Conference Finals now with the
big victory again. They were down sixteen in this game,
they were down sixty four to forty eight at the half,
and they came all the way back to win this game.
You add that plus minus stat, what do you think
of plus minus? Is that a valid stat? When we

(19:05):
talk about, you know, plus minus when you're on the court.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
I like it. I mean it is valid.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Well, let me give you a plus minus from Dallas
last night. By far, the best plus minus for any
player on the Dallas Mavericks yesterday was Dereck Lively. These
are the role players that are necessary to have if
you're going to be a championship content. I know you

(19:32):
talked about this last week. For those that missed it,
what is it that has done? Because you see obviously Doncic,
you see Kyrie, and you're like, okay, those are the guys,
But why is it The Dallas Mavericks are where they
are right now.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
The Dallas Mavericks are where they are right now because
of a move that was made by Nico Harrison and
the whole staff of Dallas getting Gafford m h from
the Washington Wizards, steal and the biggest steal, PJ Washington
from the Charlotte Hornets. And not only because they got PJJ,

(20:10):
they weren't able to unload that ugly contract that they
had given. Oh my god, to Williams, and I mean
Grant Williams. He he fit that Boston mold maybe, but
when he got the Dallas they knew they made a mistake.
As soon as he got there, they knew they made

(20:30):
a mistake. And that's coming from people I know in
the Mavericks organization. It literally like the first day like,
oh lord, no, he's not the guy. He rubbed everybody
the wrong way, like the first day there. And so
to me, to get rid of that contract and bringing
a PJ. Washington, a kid from the Dallas area, now

(20:54):
your defense all of a sudden was upgraded. PJ. Washington
kept shaking, He'll just in front of him the whole night,
but say, as great a play as he is, he
found a way to score. And so to me, you know,
those were the two biggest moves that Dallas made, and
they got Luka and Kyrie to buy into actually attempting
to play defense.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
It's amazing. Kyrie took eight more shots yesterday than Dancic.
Now that shows because he's I've been amazed from the beginning.
When Kyrie arrived in Dallas, I thought, how does this
work When you have two players that are at their
best when they control the basketball, there's only one basketball

(21:36):
on the court, and both of those guys liked the
ability to control the basketball. Somebody is going to have
to give it up. And Kyrie I didn't think it
was in him, but he did it. He played the
supporting role to Daunchets. He still got his points per game,
he still got his numbers. It still worked for him.

(21:58):
And even seeing Kyrie after that game yesterday, what's working
for him is he's step one step closer to yet
another World championship.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
Ring.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
We'll get into the possibility of a Dallas Denver or
Dallas Minnesota Western Conference Final, but first let's find out
what is trending right now. Monci, you feel like as
a diehard Clippers fan, Yeah, that when you look at
like O Casey, you just heard what Olden had to say,

(22:28):
like this, this is the team on the come and
they really it's almost like they're the Clippers, like they
that's what they are.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
I mean, yeah, let's not put that because it was.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Because of the Clippers giving them everything right for Paul
George that they've been in a position. You've still got
to make the right picks.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
You do have to still make the right picks.

Speaker 7 (22:46):
No, it's it's pretty incredible what they've done, and it
is annoying a little bit as a Clippers fan, especially
when you heard that they basically went to Kawhi Leonard
and was like, are you sure you don't want to
work with shake gilges Alexander He's going to be good,
and that he still said no, and like we gave
them everything and then some to get Paul George. Yes,
it's very, very frustrating, but give them credit because they

(23:08):
really have built something there. I hope it's not the
same fate as the Clippers. I don't want to wish
them upon that. Yeah, you know, but hey.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know what I was gonna say, what those guys,
the Williams is all them guys, Casey Wallace, those would
the picks the Clippers got ahead.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
So it's like that, so you were looking at the Clippers,
is what the Clippers?

Speaker 8 (23:36):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Okay, see just turned into what it's supposed to be. Yes,
they should have been here, those draptics should have been
here in La. Yeah, but I told Steve Kawhi is
never going to be Kauhi again.

Speaker 6 (23:48):
No, he is a degenerative me.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
At this point, nothing is going to get better, and
it's it's quite unfortunate, you know. I say, Lebron is
holding the Lakers hostage, Kawhi is holding the Clippers hostage
in the same exact way, and it's really annoying that
we got nothing.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
We have no idea, like it's always gonna be like
what if for four or five years, what if he
would have been healthy. It's very very annoying situation. Thank
you Steve for making me feel like this.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Well, I felt we let's get it away early.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
Yeah, for sure. No, I understand that free throw miss
that you guys were just talking about by PJ Washington.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
I think Luka Doncic is the best at purposely missing
free throws.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
He does it frequently.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
I wonder if they do that at practice, if he's
the one who's taught them, because he's and the way
PJ Washington did it, no questions asked, He's like, I
got it.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
It was incredible.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
But I instantly was like, I wonder if Luca has
taught them because he always always does that. Game seven
Fellas from Madison Square Garden tips off in about an hour.
Nicks PACER's Eastern Conference Semifinals. The latest is that Ogian
Anobi and Josh Harr are on course to play, but
a final decision is going to be made closer to
tip off again in about an hour than at a
pm Eastern time from Denver, it's the Western Conference semi Finals,

(24:57):
Game seven between the Nuggets and the Timberwolves. In soccer,
Manchester City beat west Ham United three to one. Man
City becomes the first team to win the Premier League
four years in a row. And then we have the
final round at the PGA Championship. The leaders, Colin Morrikawa
x Ander Schoffley are about to tee off like any
minute now.

Speaker 6 (25:14):
They are fifteen under par overall.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
Scotti Scheffler, who has been the story throughout this entire tournament,
he is eight under overall. He has one under through
nine holes for just the final round. In baseball, we've
got a full slate of games. Lots going on right now.
The Yankees have tied the game at home against the
White Sox.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
It's two to two.

Speaker 7 (25:32):
They're about to start the fourth inning. The Red Sox
have exploded. They're beating the Cardinals seven to one. Top
of the fifth Gunner Henderson with his fifteenth home run
of the season.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
It leads Major League Baseball.

Speaker 7 (25:43):
The Orioles are beating the Mariners five to one top
of the fourth, a tie game in Philly between Nationals
and the Phillies to two top of the fourth as well.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
The Blue Jays holding on to their lead over the Rays.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
It's one zero bottom of the fourth, Twins on the scoreboard,
but the Guardians are still on top, two to one.
Top of the fifth, Marlin's on the scoreboard, but the
Mets are still on top, four to two, bottom of
the third, the astro SoSE Altuve with the home run.

Speaker 6 (26:06):
They're beating the Brewers four to one bottom.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
Well, now they're about to start the second inning and
the Royals are beating the A's two zero bottom of
the second inning.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Back to you guys, all right, MONSI thank you very much,
so checking with you in a little bit once again.
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Steve Harbin, Olden Polonies with you.
This series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets has
been a very interesting series, to say the least, not
because of any compelling games. Almost every one of these

(26:35):
games has been a blowout But who would have thought
that the t Wolves would so easily handle the Nuggets
in the first two games in Denver, and then Denver
would completely flip it with two wins in Minnesota. Then
the Nuggets get an easy win at home in Game five,
and then the Timberwolves forty five point win against the

(26:55):
Nuggets in Game six. You talk about a mail in game,
and I from coaching this team has been a challenge
all season long. The Denver Nuggets have really had this
mentality of just showing up when they feel like it,
and because they've been able to get away with it

(27:16):
all season long. I mean, losing these first two games
against the against the Tea Wolves at home and then
going on the road and getting the two wins that
even up the series only heightens that ability to say, yeah, yeah,
when we want to, we can win this game. Are
they playing with fire? I mean, this is a t
Wolves team that obviously has got the talent to match Denver,

(27:39):
if not more so. Murray obviously is not one hundred
percent right now. But the way the Nuggets sort of
mailed in that Game six with the idea like we'll
be fine, we're home for Game seven. Are they playing
with fire.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
They definitely are and they might get burned. And so
to me, you're right throughout the season Denver, they had
that sampionship hangover. Yeah, with champions See, that's the difference
between Lakers, Celtics, and others in the Warriors, you know,
teams that have multiple multiple championships. When I win a championship,

(28:15):
I'm trying to get another one. The Denver Nuggets got
the championship, it's like, oh, we did it. That's it.
We don't care about anything else. To a certain extent,
that's not good because now you go through that lull
of the regular season, you know, the dragon is so
then it becomes all we gotta do is get to

(28:37):
the playoffs, get a decent record, just like the towards
the end of the season, you know, dropping to a
third seed, that makes a difference, you know. But they
got lucky enough, you know, to get a game seven,
and so I'm impressed by that. But at the same time,

(28:57):
I'm leary. I think that gonna win because I said
they would win, so they're not gonna let me down.
But I think it's tough doing that because it doesn't
last long. See.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
My feeling is if Denver loses this game tonight. That's it.
Let me give you an example. This is my old
school stuff. I like to even predate you, olden This
is how I do this. In nineteen seventy five, Rick
Berry and the Golden State Warriors played as the underdog

(29:34):
and the NBA Finals against the Bullets, and they shocked
the world by sweeping them four straight. They became the
hot team. They were like the first team in NBA history.
They were suddenly using not just you know, a sixth
and seventh man off the bench, say like eight nine, ten. Yeah,
like they had the deepest betch. Al Addams was the coach,
and they were the new wave. They come back the

(29:56):
next year. They have the best record in the league.
They are the talk of the town. Western Conference Finals
are playing a young Phoenix Suns team. They had Paul Westfall,
Alvin Adams. It was a young team. John mcclod was
the coach. They were heavy underdogs against the Warriors, but
the Warriors sort of tinkered around with them a little bit.
So ends up in Game seven, Golden State's the home team.

(30:17):
They lost, and guess who we never heard from again?
That Warriors team, the team that was Cover Sports illustrated.
They've changed the look of the NBA. They've got Phil Smith,
they had some really good play. They never were heard
from again after losing that game seven. I feel like

(30:38):
that could happen with the Nuggets if they lose this
game to Minnesota, see you later, it's gonna be okay,
See it's gonna be Minnesota, it's gonna be Dallas. These
will be the teams moving forward in the West, and
Denver will be yesterday's news.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
I get that, and there's a possibility of that happening,
but it's not gonna happen. And also, I need to
go back a little bit. Unlike a lot of media people,
when I make a mistake, I can come out and
say and be a man. I said the Nuggets a
three seed. They were actually a two seed.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Okay, yeah, but you also picked Dallas and six. Sorry.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Yeah, so I made a mistake with that. But the
Denver Nuggets will win this game because of the championship
last year, and that championship experience is huge. The Dallas
Mavericks beat Oklahoma City because they had that mindset, a
championship like mindset. Because Kyrie has already won a championship,

(31:40):
and he spoke to his team. That's why he spoke
at the end of the gamey say in the locker room,
you know, thanking everybody and all that, because he's been
there before. He's already expressed on him what it takes.
So to me that the only way to get that
is to go through it. And the Timberwolves have not
got through it. They have nobody on their team that's

(32:02):
gone through that. And so to me, that's that's gonna
be huge tonight, you know, the game seven because all
the pressure you think it's on Denver, but it's not.
Minnesota won the first two games in Denver.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Winning three times in Denver is a tall order.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
It's a tall task.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yes, And again when we talk about players that shine
brightest under the brightest spotlight, dont I mean, you know,
obviously with a guy like Jokich. Jokich is a guy
that we know is going to show up. But what
about Jamal Murray do you have concerns? I mean, if
they're going to win this game seven, he has to
step up. And he's been that kind of a player

(32:41):
over the most recent past that Murray is a player
that does play at a higher level when the game
matters most. Is he capable of doing that in this
game seven? Because if he's a no show in game seven,
Denver's in deep trouble.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Oh definitely. Jamal Murray, you know, people everybody the envy.
He is the MVP, you know, But there's some things
you can do with Joker, you know, where you can
like minimize some things. But at the same time, you know,
I've always been you know, like the Jordan rule thing.
Let Jordan get fifty, We don't mind. We want to

(33:15):
limit everybody else. To me, Jamal Murray's the most critical
player on this team. You know, basketball is a game
of makes a misses, So it doesn't really matter. He
got the same shots he got the game before, they
just missed. And so to me, it's not so much
that he's struggling. It's I think that elbow really is

(33:37):
bothering him because he's getting the same exact shots. Michael
Porter Juliet is getting the same exact shots. Kcp's getting
the same exact shots he just missing. So I don't
think they're gonna miss in Denver.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Monty over the last couple of weeks has made it
clear it doesn't matter who comes out of this Denver
Minnesota series, the Dallas Mavericks will be in the NBA Finals.
On the other side, well, we'll break those matchups potentially
down with old And this is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Radio, Steve Harbin, Olden polonies. Here Fox Sports Sunday. We
are live from the tire rack dot Com studios. What's
that deal? The NBC just signed with the NBA, Olden?
How much money are we talking about here?

Speaker 3 (34:29):
As far as what oh that deal? Yeah? From what
I'm hearing, seventy five billion for eleven years.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
Yevy five billion, John, test your back.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
And unfortunately inside the NBA you might be out.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Oh no, they're done because Ernie said he's staying at TNTO.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, that shot his back. I'm on his back. Who
I mean it is, here's the thing about network television
trying to survive. Let's face it. I mean, network television
is trying to survive, and one way to survive is

(35:17):
to carry live sports for our generation. And I'm older
than old and he's like a kid to me, but
I mean for our generation, we remember a time old
and when if you are a die hard sports fan.
You were still on the fringe. Now, it wasn't the

(35:38):
mainstream like it is. I mean it felt mainstream to
us because we are into sports. But now and there
just seems to be knowing in sight. Yeah, the NFL dominates,
crushes everybody in terms of their exposure and the desire
of people to latch onto the NFL. Well, but shed

(36:01):
no tiers from Major League Baseball, shed no tiers for
the NBA. And the money they're making now is insane.
We already have guaranteed contracts that start with sixty million
per year. Sixty million, next step will be seventy million,

(36:21):
then eighty million per year.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
I think we get to one hundred million in the
next three years.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Could very well happen per year?

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Well, oh no, we have a hundred million.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Well I'm talking about per year.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Well you have one hundred million.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
What was that for seven But it's all deferred.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
That's that's.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Hundred Well here's the great thing about Otani's deferred, right,
So he he doesn't need the money obviously because he doesn't,
oh he needs it, So he's deferring basic the entire
amount for ten years. And by the way, by the
time that money is paid out, it will have doubled
two over a billion dollars. Man, unbelievable. All right, let's

(37:12):
get back to potential matchups here in the Western Conference finals.
Manzie very confident. She has reiterated time and again on
our Saturday show. It will be the Dallas Mavericks crown
as NBA champions. How do they match up against Minnesota?
How do they match up against Denver? In your opinion, Olden.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
Okay, So Dallas is sitting at home right now saying
we want Minnesota. They were rooting for Minnesota because it's
a better matchup for Dallas and the fact again that
experience is going to play a part, and so to me,

(37:55):
you know, and they have two stars compared, you know,
two Majors stars and Kyrie and Luca. Minnesota has one
and a Cats and All Star. But he's not a
guy that you think of, you know, in the grand
scheme of things. Anthony Edwards.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yes, yes, that's a side.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
That's a superstar in the making if he's not there already.
So I think Dallas definitely wants that. They don't want
Denver because of the fact that the matchups are gonna
be really disadvantageous to them, you know, at every level,
because Aaron Gordon's gonna sit on Luca's right hand all day,

(38:37):
every day, or his left hand, actually, yeah, his left hand,
and Kyrie's gonna get Jamal, which is gonna be a problem.
Then they can throw Reggie Jackson at him, so they
have enough bodies to throw Christian Brown he can go
and god Luca as well. And then of course we
not even haven't even mentioned Joker because I like Gafford,

(38:59):
I like Lively, but they can't. They can't match up
with Luca. Yeah, Jokic, that's gonna be a problem. It's
a nightmare for Dallas to get the Nuggets in that series.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
I'd ask you if a young olden in his prime
were matched up against Jokic. But I mean, it just
seems to me the most dangerous aspect of a complete
game of which he has is his ability to get
his teammates involved. It seemed to me that you, once
again would rather Jokic take a lot of shots, yes,

(39:33):
then minimize his shots and get other players involved in
that offense.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
Of course, please one on one matchups. I got, I
got Joker by myself. I'm gonna make him shoot turn
around jumpers. I'm gonna just stay between him and the basket,
box him eyes after he shoots. You gotta remember also,
I was a defensive guys, so my mentality was all
about playing defense. If I can go out Shaquille O'Neil
and defend him and keep him off the low blocks

(40:00):
and keep Joke off the low blocks.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Now, so this is gonna be a game seven. Tonight,
we got a day night doubleheader Starry with the Pacers
and Knicks, and again that game is gonna be tipping
off real soon. And then of course later tonight we'll
have the Nuggets taken on the t Wells, two game
sevens in the NBA, and then our conference championship finals
will be set coming up. On the other side, we're

(40:24):
gonna also tech check in with John Paul Morosi, our
Major League Baseball insider, and we'll also talk about the
team that's just sitting and waiting right now. That's the
team that ended up the NBA regular season with the
best regular season record, that of course being the Boston Celtics.
Will break it down continue on This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Please don't listening to Fox Sports really Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Rolling along here on a Championship Sunday here on Fox
Sports Sunday, we're broadcasting live from the Tirak dot Com studios.
Tyrack dot com. We're gonna get you there and on
Matt's selection fast Reshipping free Road has a protection over
ten thousand recommending installers tirerack dot com. The way tire
buying should be doesn't get much better than this. Two

(41:10):
game sevens coming up in the NBA playoffs and of
course final round of the second major of the year
in golf, the PGA Championship. You just heard Montci say
that Xander Schaffley playing in the final pairing with Koala
Moricawa tie going into the round today, Shoffley, he gets
the berdie on the first hole, Maricar, We got part.
So we'll keep you updated on that later board for

(41:31):
the second major of the year. We have been talking
about the NBA playoffs and oh, by the way, we
are going to check in with John Paul Morosi, our
MLB insider. He's also going to give us some insight
on the also rolling along Stanley Cup playoffs. But let's
talk about the teams that's been sitting around again, and

(41:52):
that is the Boston Celtics. You know they have something
about game two at home in both their series against
the Heat and the cavil and then just turn around
and steam rolled their way. All Right, we have some
breaking news right.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
Now, breaking news from Fox Sports.

Speaker 7 (42:12):
All right, fellas game seven from Madison Square Garden in
about thirty minutes Eastern Conference semi finals. And ESPN reports
that oging On Unobi and Josh Hart.

Speaker 6 (42:22):
Are playing for New York all are playing.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Okay, well, let's let's talk about that's breaking news. Okay,
Well we didn't know we were the reports where they
were leaning in that tack, but now.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
We have maha drum because I'm like, oh my god,
who died?

Speaker 2 (42:40):
Well this is this is the way we do it
in news. Oh yeah, breaking news. Remember see again, this
is old school stuff here that Olden is referring to,
Like you remember when he used to watch TV Olden
when you were a kid, and then they would break
in with a special bullet. It would always be some
very famous person and just died.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
Let me tell you something right now, the blood rushed
out of my body.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
You're like, who died? But that's old school mentality, Like, oh,
it's breaking it's like God, who can okay? Anyway, that's
it's good news for Knicks fans obviously, especially Goji back
on the court. He has him in there for a while.
All right, Let's move on to the Boston Celtics again,
a team that regular season wise blew away the rest

(43:30):
of the league, not even close. And you can say, well,
they were able to pilot up on the Eastern Conference,
which is indeed a fair argument, and the fact that
they have. By the way, Alex Norn right now is
on fire at the PGA Golf Championship. He is what's
seven under on the day. I don't know if he's

(43:50):
got enough in his tank to get to the finish line.
But let's talk about the Celtics. Have you seen anything
from the Celtics in the postseason to give you any
real feel on what their ultimate destiny is for these
NBA playoffs.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
Uh, they just the stand in until whoever comes out
that West gets there.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
So they I mean again, this is a team that's
in the Western Eastern Conference finals now what fourth time
in the last five years. They got to the finals
a couple of years ago, losing to the Warriors, so
they have experience obviously have a really good team. Are
they just too dependent on the three ball for your taste?

Speaker 3 (44:35):
Yes, they are, and I hate it. I'm like, dude,
you got to mix it up. You know, the game
against Cleveland when they won, after Cleveland went you know,
won the game, they went back. I think it's yeah,
game three, It's like, dude, I get it, we want
to shoot threes, but you have to mix it up.
And finally I saw Jason Tatum driving to the basket

(44:55):
made the game a lot easier for them because we
it's always been and it's inside out. I don't care
how you get inside. I don't care if it's post up,
I don't care it's penetration, but it's always inside out. Dribble,
drive to the basket, kick out the three point shooters.
They're gonna be wide, wide open. But this guy Missoula

(45:17):
wants to rely on it's so much to where it's
a detriment because these guys are not great three point shooters. Yeah,
this's not the Golden State Warriors at all. And so
to me, that's the problem. And so you're so relying
on it. Again, you take a three, it has to
go in. There's no other choice because it's a long
shot and it's like when it's hitting that rim, it's

(45:39):
hitting hard. And so to me, especially when you know,
like Steph Curry shoots, his shots are so soft they
either swish or if they land on the rim, it's
a soft bounce Celtics when they miss, and it's like
we don't know where it's going. And so to me,
that's the problem. Man. You gotta mix all.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
Right before we check off Boston all the way through
to the NBA Finals. The winner of this game coming
up between the Pacers and the Knicks that will tip
off in about twenty five minutes. Can you see either
one of these teams taking down the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
Yes, I see the New York Knicks beating the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Really.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
Yes, they've had them in the past. I mean the
injuries got have deralled them last year or was it Miami? Yeah,
But I like the match up with New York a lot.
I like New York against Boston. That's a good match
up for the For the Knicks, I think they can
beat them and if that is the matchup, but they

(46:42):
gotta get by Indiana today, so you know, if it
does happen, I like the chances of New York.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
How much does n ANDOB mean for this next team?

Speaker 3 (46:53):
Oh my goodness, it's it's night and day. They're two
different teams. I mean, this guy does so much, you know,
with his size and length and the fact that he's
low maintenance. That's what I love about him. He's low maintenance.
Whatever the team needs for him to do, he does.
You know the terminology people use Swiss army knife, He's
that and then.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Some Well, we'll see what happens that NNOB and Heart
will go. I don't know again, how effective will they be.
They'll be on the court, and that is going to
be a big plus for the Knicks as they host
the Pacers in this game seven. So just continuing on
with your vein about the fact that it doesn't matter.
We're just holding a spot in the Eastern Conference to

(47:33):
be fodder in the NBA Finals for whoever ends up
out of the West. Whether it's Dallas, whether it's Minnesota,
whether it's Denver. It's not gonna matter.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
No, I don't think it is because the West is
too strong. You gotta remember the teams in the East.
I mean, we had about four teams in the West.
They're in the top four in the East. If you
take their records and put it in the East, they
like they rank in the top four, and so to me,

(48:04):
it's just a better conference. That's one of the reason
why you know who can't get past people because he's
not in the East. It was a lot easier to
run the East than it is to run the West.
And we've seen that for the last six years. And
you know who I'm talking about. So it's it's the
Western Conference is a.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Beast, yeah, and getting stronger every day. And this experience
that Okase, even though they went down to Dallas, is
something to build on for their future. If Minnesota goes
down today to the Denver Nuggets, that's a Minnesota team
with Anthony Edwards that obviously is going in the right direction.
So they're only going to get stronger. By the way,

(48:46):
Can I just throw in a little loops and we
talk about the West right now? Phoenix Suns didn't waste
any time. Budenholzer is going to be their coach. By
the way, did you see his press conference talk?

Speaker 3 (48:57):
Yeah? I saw that. Yeah, I coach him on the moon.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
They they had Phoenix, and I'm sort of getting into
that Phoenix market right now. They're just like what happened.
We had a team that won sixty four games two
years ago and we dismantled it to bring in Kevin Durant,
and then we add to a Bradley Beal, all guaranteed
contracts north of fifty million dollars a year, and you

(49:27):
think about the you know, guys off the bench, role
players that they had. Of course, he had Chris Paul
at the point, and you know, Devin Booker was your score.
He had one score, you know, and he had all
those great role players. Kem Budenholzer turned that thing around
in Phoenix. No, because they have no cap flexibility none

(49:50):
he has. He doesn't have the demeanor that's going to
be needed. I think that's why he got to let
go in Milwaukee because the super a star put his
foot down. Now you got three of them, you can't
combat that. The same thing that happened with Vogel. It's
like you cannot These the inmates are running the asylum,

(50:15):
and to me, that's a problem. And if you're not
going to bring in coaches that are just on par
with these guys, you're gonna have problems. Ooh. It's interesting
because I always said this about the success of pat
Riley and of Phil Jackson. I said, the reason they
were so successful coaching teams with multiple superstars is that

(50:41):
their ego is on the same level or even above
those superstar players that they coach. Yes, and I covered
pat Riley at the end of his Laker run. I
was there for most of the Phil Jackson rome with
the Lakers, and that's the thing that would impressed about me.
You know one thing I know about Phil JA all
those years. Never once did he take blame for a

(51:02):
game ever.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
Ever, No, he's not going to his ego on and
let him.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
If he would, never ever, ever, ever hint of a
single coaching decision that may have resulted in a loss
for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
In his mindset, he's like, I'm not out there. I
gave him to please.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
And what's interesting is both of them were role players,
as you know, players in the NBA, you know, just
second tier players, but their egos had to match and
even exceed those of the superstar players.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
All right.

Speaker 2 (51:35):
Coming up on the other side, this man deserves an ego.
He doesn't have one. He just covers sports like none other.
He's our Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider, also give his
insight on the continuation of the Stanley Cup playoffs. John
Paul Morosi will join us. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
Steve Harbinolden Polonies Here Fox Sports Sunday. We are live
from the tire Rock dot Com studios. We're watching the
golf right now. Shoffley has the one shot lead over
Marikawa and Shane da Lowry shot a sixty two yesterday
to get into contention former Open champion. We got two
Game seven's coming up in the NBA playoffs, and tomorrow

(52:29):
we have a Game seven in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Showing us right now are Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider,
also our hockey insider, the Great John Paul MOROSEI JP
and know me. I want to start with the NHL
right now, Stars, Panthers and the Rangers have moved on
into the Final four, waiting on tomorrow's Game seven between

(52:51):
the Canucks and the Oilers. Let me ask you this
it's been since nineteen ninety three the Montreal Canadians taken
out Wayne Gretzky and the La Kings and the Stanley
Cup final. Since we had a Canadian based team win
the Stanley Cup, is there any opportunity, any chance for

(53:11):
the winner of this game between the Canucks and Oilers
to go on to be crowned as Stanley Cup Champions.

Speaker 8 (53:20):
Good afternoon, a great time of year, and by the way,
we wish all of our Canadian friends a happy Victoria Day.
It's a national holiday tomorrow for them in Canada, and
so they celebrated with fittingly a Game seven between the
Canucks and the Oilers. So I do think that they
both have a good opportunity to win the Cup. The

(53:43):
question is going to be goaltending, and I think at
this moment in time, Dallas has a little bit more
reliability in goal, at least more of a proven commodity
in gold than what either of the winners will have
coming out of the Civic Division series. There. Between the
Oilers and the Canucks, certainly they both have a ton

(54:04):
of offense, and the Oilers in particular, you think about
that line with when they put them all together obviously
on the power play as well with McDavid and dry Sidles.
It's a treat to watch. I had a chance to
watch them in person this season and it's just the
show that when you watch Edmonton play. And meanwhile, you've
got the Canucks, which, interestingly enough, guys, is something of
a Team USA. Quinn Hughes who's likely to win the

(54:28):
Norris Trophy. On the back end, J T. Miller grew
up in East Palestine, Ohio. He is on that team
along with Brock Besser, who's been an extraordinary goal scorer
for them in the playoffs. So you've got, ironically enough,
a lot of Americans who are the reason why the
Canucks are one win away from playing for a Western
Conference championship. So so many great storylines. I've loved the

(54:51):
hockey so far. Meanwhile, Team USA is open in the
World Championships with a lot of their top players getting
ready for the four Nations face off a year from
now in the olymp twenty twenty six. So that's a
really high end international tournament. Of course, includes the best
players who are not involved in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
So between that and baseball, my cup Runneth over with

(55:12):
Amazing Sports right now.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
Hey, yeah, okay, I need your take on this. I mean,
in this day and age of hiring and firing coaches,
especially even when they winning, What did you make of
the Hurricanes you know, re signing Rod Brendamore in his staff.

Speaker 8 (55:36):
Sure, I think that Rod Brendamore is one of the
best coaches in the NHL, and he has his team prepared.
They they, I think, in a lot of ways typify
him in terms of the character that he brought during
his illustrious NHL career. Of course, he won a Cup
as a captain with the Hurricanes back in two thousand
and six, So for me, I think he's the right

(55:58):
choice to be with that franch And if they had
not re signed him, there would have been a list
of about a half a dozen teams eager to do
the same, to sign him and have him be their coach.
I think it's notable that a lot of teams out there,
whether it was the Maple Leafs up until recently they
made their decision on BRUBI, other teams that have still

(56:18):
kept their openings available. It's not an accident. I think
teams were waiting to see if Brendan Moore became a
free agent before making decisions and making their own choices,
and that, to me tells you a lot about about
the Carolina Hurricanes and how they know they've got a
good thing going with Rod brendanmore. Listen, they want to

(56:39):
win the Cup, as all teams do, but I tend
to think that he gets the most out of his
group on a continual basis. I had a chance to
watch in person Game two of their amazing Eastern Conference
semifinal series against the Rangers, and the Rangers, to me,
are the better team. They had the better goal tend

(57:01):
I think, the deeper defensive corps, the better depth scoring.
The Hurricanes were close, but I don't think that objectively
Carolina had the better roster, and that's not a criticism,
just a fact of where they were. So I think
the stronger, better team won that series. And I don't
see any way in which the Hurricanes should have moved

(57:21):
on from Rod Brenda Moore as a consequence of not
finding a way to beat what I think is a
very strong Cup contender in the New York Rangers.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Let's turn to some baseball right now. I want to
talk about Juan Soto, so here's a couple of bombs, yes,
four hundred foot bombs, and he's off to a great
start with the Yankees right now. Keep in mind, it
seems like he's been around forever. He's still only twenty
five years of age one. Soto when he came to
San Diego, JP, you and I and Rich we had

(57:51):
some conversations about him, like, you know, we expected this
superstar to blow everyone away when he came from the Nationals,
and at least for that rest of the twenty two season,
he just was there. That was nothing really happening. I
know he had some pretty good numbers a year ago
for the Padres, but are we going to get this
guy back on track of where he projected almost from

(58:16):
the get go of his major league career, where people
were suddenly saying this is a generational talent. He's not
just a really good player. But you look at his
twenty twenty numbers in the shortened season, he leads the
league in every significant category. Do you think as a
Yankee he's gonna get back to that level?

Speaker 8 (58:35):
I do, and I think he's already getting there. And
the question is, now, Steve, how long is he going
to be a Yankee, because as we know, he's a
free agent. Half of the season is over, and we
saw the bidding get so intense throw Tani last offseason,
and certainly that was appropriate based on what you see
Showy doing right now. But I think in a lot
of ways it's going to be just as exciting in

(58:57):
terms of the number of teams involved. For Wan Soto,
I think you look at the overall equation was show
A the Dodgers, And certainly there are some international marketing
reasons and off the field stardom and the profile of
the player business related reasons why you brought Otani in
when you're if you're the Dodgers, But when you look

(59:18):
at the pure numbers of it, Otani right now is
a DH and the fishing upside, while considerable, still carries
some risk. Whereas with Soto, he's a very young player
and his two way value of being a at least
I think he's become a solid defender adequate, but he's

(59:39):
able to play a position every day in the field
and give you defensive value beyond what he's doing just
in the batter's box. So I can already see and
hear what Scott boris the sales pitch is going to
be based on the numbers that he's putting up right now.
And a big part of those numbers, guys, I would say,
is the guy that's batting right behind him, Aaron Judge,
who loll and behold. For all the talk of him

(01:00:00):
struggling his ops right now, Aaron Judge is actually higher
than Juan Soto's nine to eighty five for Judge, nine
to sixty eight for Soto, Judge already having homeward today
his thirteenth of the season. So for as much concern
as there was about the lineup overall, Judge has answered
the bell. This team looks strong top to the bottom.

(01:00:21):
They're beating the White Sox handily today, seven to two.
They've been able to build this great record and standing
without Garrett Cole, the reigning Simon Award winner, because he's
down the il, because Luis Heel has been so magnificent
in his place. So I think, yes, Soto, his ability
stands alone. The ballpark has helped him, but I think

(01:00:43):
the atmosphere of the Yankees has helped him, and having
Aaron Judge behind him has helped. And you look at
what it means to be a Yankee. Some players don't
like it. I think Juan Soto thrives on it. He
loves the spot, like loves New York. And it doesn't
surprise me that he's already saying, in as many words, hey,

(01:01:07):
whenever we want to have a long term contract discussion,
I'm ready to do it, basically saying to Scott Boris publicly, hey,
let's let's have that conversation, which to me says he's
happy there. He likes New York. He knows how good
he's got it. With Aaron Judge batting behind him, what's
not to love about being won Soto? Right now?

Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
That's right, baby? The Yankees are it so JP and I,
for lack of a better word, he's considered a rookie.
But the boy is thirty years old. Show tell you
Managa with the Cubs. I mean he's doing stuff we
haven't seen since nineteen thirteen, since Fernando Venezuela when he
had his old old point nine to one eia. This

(01:01:49):
kid is what old point eighty four I mean, microscopic.
It's insane. So can you please talk about him a
little bit more? Because I don't think that people know who.

Speaker 8 (01:02:02):
I'm glad you asked told him because he is so
much fun the showta Ima Naga, left handed starting pitcher
for the Chicago Cubs his first season coming over from Japan,
and you're right, Olden. We talked a lot more of
this offseason about certainly Otani and also Yoshinobu Yamamoto was
also off to a great start with the Dodgers, but
Imanaga was in some ways a bargain relative to what

(01:02:24):
the expense was for other pitchers out there, and he
has absolutely dominated major league hitters. Now, I want everybody
who's who's driving the car today around our great country
to a travel ball tournament or wherever you're going to
listen carefully to these numbers, because Ima Naga is not
throwing one hundred miles an hour. His average fastball is

(01:02:47):
ninety two, which is still quite firm by the standards
of the game historically speaking, but not as much right now.
But it's because of where he locates it and the
action that he places on the pitch that makes it's special.
It also throws a great change up as well, which
is part of the reason why he's so good. So
to me, it's a really good lesson that the American

(01:03:09):
baseball developmental ideas about everything's got to be bigger, faster, stronger,
and you got to throw the ball a million miles
an hour to get recruited. It's false. Look at the
guy who's in a lot of ways the best pitcher
right now going in the National League. He throws ninety two,
which is again again plenty hard. But it's not lighting

(01:03:30):
up a radar gun at the expense of his health
or of his command. He understands this is hitching, not throwing.
And I really hope that everybody's getting getting a chance
to enjoy watching him work. The precision with which he works.
He's called the throwing philosopher for a reason, and he
gets it done with his smarts and his body and

(01:03:53):
his arm and all the things that he brings to
bear on this. And there's a lot of lessons out
there for all the people that have been involved in
this velocity obsessed American developmental system. We're clearly realizing that
in Japan they've developed an excellent way of bringing pitchers
along to the point that when Yammoto arrives here and
Imnada arrives here, they're not just good, they dominate so

(01:04:17):
I think it's time for us to learn a little
bit of their philosophies and then he'll hopefully incorporate them
into the way that we do things here.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Well. Pitching is like real estate. Location location location. There
was a guy named Greg Maddox that won three hundred
and fifty five games. Yeah, Greg Maddicks, remember that guy.
He won three hundred and fifty five games. Location, Location, Location, JP,
you are the best as always. We can't wait to
see what's next coming up with the Stanley Cup playoffs

(01:04:44):
and also the Major League Baseball scene. We'll talk to
you next Sunday, Stevin Olden.

Speaker 8 (01:04:48):
Always enjoy the conversations my friends, have a wonderful week,
and look forward to catching up next weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
There he is great, John Paul Morosi. He is on
top of everything, that is for sure. All right, let's
find out what's trending right now. We got a lot
going on right now, Manci, we do have.

Speaker 6 (01:05:03):
A lot going on, It's true. Now I'm gonna start
with the PGA Championship because things are getting interesting.

Speaker 7 (01:05:08):
Sandrew Schoffley was in the lead to start this final
round along with Colin Morricawa. Now it's just Shoftley he
is seventeen under par overall.

Speaker 6 (01:05:18):
He's through four holes in the spinal round.

Speaker 7 (01:05:21):
Bryson De Shamba, Shane Lowry, and Colin Marikawa are two
shots back. Scotty Scheffler is not completely out of it.

Speaker 6 (01:05:29):
He seemed like he may have been.

Speaker 7 (01:05:31):
He is now eleven under par overall, four under for
the day through fourteen holes. That is where Scotty Scheffler is,
Who's been a big story part of this PGA championship.

Speaker 6 (01:05:41):
Now let's move on to baseball. Aaron Judge alrights. He
has hit home run number thirteen on the season.

Speaker 7 (01:05:46):
The Yankees are beating the White Sox seven to two
top of the seventh inning. Gunner Henderson, though leads Major
League Baseball with fifteen home runs, and the Orioles are
up on the Mariners five to three bottom of the seventh.
The Red Sox still on top of the Cardinals nine
to three bottom of the eighth. In Saint Louis, the
Blue Jays are blanking the Rays five zero bottom of
the seventh. The Phillies on top of the National six
to three bottom of the sixth.

Speaker 6 (01:06:07):
The Guardians still have a slight.

Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
Edge over the Twins two to one bottom of the
eighth inning. The Mets are defeating the Marlins four to two.
Bottom of the six The Astros still on top of
the Brewers four to one.

Speaker 6 (01:06:19):
Bottom of the fifth inning. The Royals have added some runs.

Speaker 7 (01:06:21):
They're beating the A's four to one, and they're about
to start the sixth inning. The Arrangers have scored first
against the Angels, one zero, top of the fifth and
it's a tie game in Chicago. You guys were just
talking about the Cubs between the Pirates and the Cubs
tied on one apiece top of the fifth inning. And
I won't say breaking news, so we don't scare mister
Olden over there. It's not breaking news, but it is
big news for Knicks fans because Game seven Madison Square Garden,

(01:06:44):
Nick's Pacers literally starting right now, and they will have
og On Unobi and Josh har for New York. This
is Game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Now, this
is what's going on on social media, fellas. So there
is a guy named Tommy Beer who is a Knicks
fan and is the author of What's on Tap on Substack.

Speaker 6 (01:07:05):
So he's got like seventy plus thousand followers.

Speaker 7 (01:07:08):
He's a Knicks fan, and he tweeted something really sweet
to Knicks fans about five hours ago, just.

Speaker 6 (01:07:13):
Saying, like, enjoy this game. Talked about the history like
a really nice tweet.

Speaker 7 (01:07:18):
He said, it's been ten thousand, five hundred and ninety
two days since the Knicks last hosted a game seven
at Madison Square Garden. It may be another ten thousand days.
Enjoy this a really nice sweet tweet. John Wiguizamo, the comedian,
literally plagiarized, like he didn't repost this guy's tweet, He
just stole it and tweeted it himself, and everybody is attacking.

(01:07:40):
He's like, you literally stole it tweet. Why didn't you
give this man credit and repost it?

Speaker 6 (01:07:45):
And he did it.

Speaker 7 (01:07:46):
He copied it, paste put a picture of himself with
the New York Cat and it's just and Knicks fans
are like, this is why we suck.

Speaker 6 (01:07:52):
We're literally fighting each other, like we can't even be hard.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Was he unaware that would take that they would find out?

Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
Oh, I don't understand me.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Do we know this about social media?

Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
When we have somebody, anybody, anybody, it suddenly becomes a
name in the news out of nowhere. The investigation of
what they have posted on social media starts immediately immediately.

Speaker 6 (01:08:16):
I mean, and it's it's just such a nice tweet.

Speaker 7 (01:08:18):
You know, like it's long and there's a lot of detail.

Speaker 6 (01:08:20):
He just copied and pasted instead of reposting and giving
the guy credit.

Speaker 7 (01:08:24):
Well you know why, well obviously, but it backfired real
quick on it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
John hasn't had a hit in a while.

Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
Yes, no, I know, I need something.

Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
Remember in show business, there's no such thing as bad.

Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
It's true, but I think on social media it might
be a little bit bad for it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Yes, cancel culture your own.

Speaker 6 (01:08:46):
I mean it was. It was a bold move. It
was all and not a good move.

Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
All right, Well, Mancy, I know we are getting ready
for the start of this mixed Pacers game. Once again.
This is Fox Sports Sunday. Uh Nicks. This is really
hard for me with the Knicks because I recognize one
thing about the Knicks, the success in any major market.
I mean, there's certain franchises. I mean, we always start

(01:09:12):
with the Celtics and the Lakers because obviously they've been
by far the two most dominant franchises in the history
of the NBA. It's important that they're good but the Knicks,
because of their New York hub, are almost equal in
some way olden And it's been really a long time
since we could legitimize the Knicks as you know, contenders. Yeah,

(01:09:37):
I mean they've had brief runs. I mean think about it.
What's been their greatest run since the pat Riley days?
What two weeks with insanity? I mean they're I mean,
what are the Knicks really controlling the headlines? But it's
so funny the insanity thing. In fact, this is great.
I was in New York in twenty two twelve covering

(01:10:01):
the Stanley Cup Final between the Devils obviously in New
Jersey and the LA Kings. And I was in Manhattan
and I went to the NBA store. My son, Garrett
at the time, was like fourteen years old, huge NBA fan,
and I called him. I said, look, I want to
I want to get your jersey. I'll give you a choice.
I can get you a Mellow jersey or he gets

(01:10:23):
you a Jeremy Lynn jersey. He goes that insanity is over,
give me Mellow. He has never regretted that decision. But
I mean, the Knicks. When the Knicks are relevant, I
think it just raises the entire league. I'm not a
Knicks fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I
do recognize that if the Knicks are in the conversation,

(01:10:47):
that's a good thing for the NBA.

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
It is. And what's so funny about it, they haven't
won a championships since nineteen to seventy.

Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
That's it. You did it right there. And so and
by the way, that entire teams in the Hall of Fame.
They just inducted Dick Barnett to the Hall of Fase.
Here ear Roe, Wolfraser, Dick Barnett, Jerry Lucas, Willis Reid,
Dave de Busher, Bill Bradley, all of them in the
Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Oh yeah, definitely, and so to me. And the last
finals was the the Chase, the Chase Final oj the
Broncos scene and so oh who wha woa.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
They were in the final in ninety nine against San Antonio.
Remember they got blown out by the Spurs. Remember you
ain't was hurt. Oh remember the shortened year the fifies
that ninety nine season, right, Yeah, the next into the
NBA forget Yeah, And so that's right, it was a
forgettable finals appearing.

Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Yeah, it was because they put an asterisk on the
San Antonio Championship right.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
Exactly so, but the last time they made it seven
five years.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Yeah, so it's been twenty five years. But they are
always the team that people talk about. You know, we
know the Lakers with the seventeen, Celtics with the seventeen,
and the Knicks are in that conversation only because it's
New York City. It's New York. It's the capitol of
the world, media capitol of the world.

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
It was playing in the garden specialty.

Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
It is, Oh my god. I grew up in I
grew up in New York, so that was always like wow.
You know when we went downtown, you you walk by
Mansion Square Garden, you knew of all the great players Monroe, Fraser,
Willis and everybody, and so you know, I'm not thinking that,
you know, one day I'm gonna play in the garden.
But then when I got to the NBA, It's like, man,

(01:12:38):
my first game at Masson Square Garden was insane. I
was I was in such awe. And you know what's
so funny about it, it's it's not the nicest place.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Why not have you been any of these other ads?
You go to the Garden and it's like, I actually
took my boys there in the summer. Roo we did,
we did the whole tour. It was you know, it
was off season for the next and you're like, it
just has that has has that old lounge field.

Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Yes, it has like cigarettes, hot dogs, rat droppings. It
has that smell to it. And then as players, you know,
you go down the elevator, it's a it's not a
real it's the what they call those elevators, know the
where they bring in the the equipment right right right,
we're in one of those. We're not in a regular

(01:13:32):
what's that? That's what we go up and down in
players in a freight elevator. And so it's like and
then when you get down there, it's like the locker
room is dingy.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
And was it worse than the old Boston Guarden?

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
And you can see Willis Reed's tape wrapping.

Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
Was it worse than the old Boston Garden?

Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
They on par with each other? Oh my god, you
know my okay, let's jump to the garden right quick.
My first time at the garden, Boston Garden, I'm laying
on the floor at center court, stretching and I hear
there's rats under the floor. They I'm like, what the hell?

(01:14:15):
My tennis? Like, man, those are rats.

Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
I heard the old Boston Garden locker room visiting lot
the worst.

Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
It's the worst, and it's so small. It's like you
on top of each other, like got Some guys had
to change outside. Some guys had to be in the
bathroom because you all can't sit in there and change together.

Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
My classics seeing the greatest moment as a Lakers fan
growing up was when the Lakers finally beat the Celtics
eighty five Finals in the Garden. And I never forget.
I wasn't there, but I'm watching as the players are
coming into the visiting locker room. Once the players got in,
there was like no space for the media. I mean,

(01:14:56):
I've never seen a locker room that tiny.

Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
It's insane.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
And you got NBA players in it as well. All Right,
I got a question about a non NBA player, Well
maybe she is sort of oh she yeah, yeah, you
know who I'm talking about. I gotta break it down
with Olden. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
Steve Harbin and Olden, Paul and East Once again. This
is Fox Sports Sunday. We are alive from the Tyraq
dot com studios. All right, we're watching again the final
round of the PGA Golf Championship and Xander Shaffle right
now has a one shot lead over Bryson Deshambo. Of course,

(01:15:43):
to Shambo is playing live golf these days, making a
lot of money for a lot less play.

Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
Oh boy.

Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Uh. And by the way, they don't seem to be
any closer to any kind of union between live golf
and the PGA Tour. That could be a big story
moving ahead in golf. So the sham is taking a
rip at a shot right.

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Now as we are wearing that.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
Yeah, a little bit, and he hit a bomb but
short of the green. All right, I want to ask
you about the Caitlin Clark situation because the WNBA has
really screwed this up royally. So the argument about whether
or not Kaylin Clark is the best player is irrelevant.
What was relevant about Kaitlyn Clark's moved to the WNBA

(01:16:28):
is that even though they have great stars in the WNBA,
a lot of these women were great stars at the
collegiate level. I remember when Kannas Parker came out of Tennessee.
I thought, if this, if she can't move the needle
with the WNBA, nobody can't. She checked every box, she had,
the game, she had, the look, she had everything going
for her. Did not move the needle. But Kaitlyn Clark's

(01:16:52):
a different one that we never see anything like it.
I mean again, that championship game that she played was
the most watched best the ball game yep NBA college
men in five years. So she had that going for her,
and the wa NBA lucks out because their season started
so soon after the end of the collegiate season where

(01:17:14):
you can keep the momentum going. The Fever have been
the worst team in the WNBA for the last two
years running. It's a bad team. And then you open
up their schedule against two of the best defensive teams
in the league in Connecticut and Liberty.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
So you know, people that were watching w NBA basketball
for the first time simply to see Caitlin Clark are
watching saying, what happened? Here? Where's the girl that I
saw raining in all these threes from all over the
court pulling a Steph Curry impersonation? What happened to her?

(01:17:53):
And here's the thing, you should have scheduled the fever
a bad team against the worst teams in the league
early to give her an opportunity. And the other thing
is the coach of the fever. She said, I don't
want her holding the ball more than point five seconds.
When you get the ball, you can either shoot or
you pass the ball. I don't want any of that

(01:18:13):
holding on to the ball. And I'm thinking, well, you're gone,
because if you're the coach of a team going nowhere anywhere,
you let her do whatever she wants to do. And
by the way, if there are no teammates compliant, get
them out of here. And that should be a mandate
from the league. I'm telling you right now, Olden, they're

(01:18:34):
blowing it. They're blowing a golden opportunity to raise the
profile that league because it won't take long if she
doesn't do something really out of the ordinary for people
to lose interest to move on.

Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Well, I hear what you're saying, and so I don't
know if cancel culture is going to come get me.
The best way I can describe Caitlin Clark is to
take it outside of basketball. You know, I just got
to be outside of basketball it's not about her making

(01:19:09):
shots or anything else. To your point, you are absolutely right.
She moves the needle and that's all that should matter.
This young lady is moving the needle. She's making all
of you relevant. You guys all of a sudden have
charter planes. So leave it alone. The people that are

(01:19:33):
questioning whether she can play in the WNBA should shut
up because it has nothing to do with that. She's
good enough to play in the WNBA. When y'all start
talking about all this stuff, her playing against men and
all that, I don't pay attention to dummies like that.
She's good enough to play in the WNBA because she's
a WNBA damn player. She's good enough. She's a great shooter. Okay, Now,

(01:19:56):
the thing about the five seconds, that's a coaching philosophy.
But I know where she got it from. She heard
that on Steph Curry's podcast. So Steph Curry's YouTube channel,
Steph Curry talks about that. Okay, it's like a grenade.
If you haven't longer than five seconds, it blows up
in your hand. That's where that coach got that from.
Let it go. That girl should be doing what the

(01:20:19):
same thing she did at Iowa period.

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Let her play, let her be absolutely. I mean, that's
exactly what she should do. I'm telling you, I made
the comparison when Pete Marrivitch came into the league. The
Atlanta Hawks drafted him and told them, you're gonna have
to change your game, and everyone's like, what the heck?
We want to see that guy that was scoring forty
four points a game at LSU. It's a bad team.
When the Lakers got bad, what do they do? They

(01:20:44):
made the smart move. Let Kobe shoot. Score eighty one points,
score sixty points. That's what people want. We realize it's
not a championship caliber team, so let Kobe go off.

Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Coming up on the other side, we're all over the
game going on right now between the Pacers and Knicks.
Game seven PGA Championship. Keep it here. This is Fox
Sports Sunday. Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio
two Game sevens in the NBA fine round of a
major golf championship. Yeah, things are good here on this Sunday.
This is Fox Sports Sunday, and we are broadcasting live

(01:21:19):
from the tyrack dot com studios. Tyrack dot Com're gonna
get you there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping. Free
road has a protection over ten thousand recommended installers ti
iraq dot com the way tire buying should be. All right,
we got about three minutes to go in the first quarter,
Pacers leading the Nicks twenty six to twenty two. And

(01:21:41):
early on in this game, again you mentioned earlier olden
stars have to show up and one guy you talked
about with Siakam, how about five for five from the field,
he made his only three point at tempt eleven points
in seven minutes start this game for Indiana.

Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Definitely, Oh definitely. I mean that's what they do. Stars
have to step up, and he's one of those guys.
I made a trade for you. You have to perform, and
he's done that, you know, I think you know. Halliburton's
playing well. Also, Namhad's made a couple of threes, so yeah, oh,
look at that ugly jumper, but it goes in.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
And only counts of the box score.

Speaker 3 (01:22:17):
Meanwhile, they don't say how you shot it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
So they are it looks like gonna be careful with
the minutes. With Ananobi, who is back, as we had reported,
he's been out since Game two. Average twenty points in
the first couple of games, and good news for the
Knicks fans. He hit his first two shot attempts, one
being a three pointer. But again he is limiting his minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Oh definitely. Well, the problem is I saw him warming
up and oh Halliburton hit another one.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
All right now, all of a sudden, the Pacers are
on an eight hur run since we spoke, and the
lead is now twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Yeah, but Og looked really gimpy. You know. All his
movements were real slow, and you're gonna do really well
because the adrenaline factor. But when that wears off and
those pills wear off, yeah, you're gonna feel it.

Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
Man. The Pacers are on fire to start this game.
They are shooting seventy eight percent, seventy five percent from
the three point line. Haliburton off to good start. Here's
a guy that's obviously elevated his game to the all
start level. You know, for a lot of people that

(01:23:34):
you know are not just die hard Pacers fans or
die hard NBA fans. You look at this Pacers lineup.
You know Siakam because obviously he was part of a
championship team in Toronto, But how many people really know Tyrese.
I mean how I mean, how many people really understand
what this Pacers team about. Coached by your former Virginia
teammate Rick Carlisle. Where are they going? Like, what's next

(01:23:58):
for this Pacers franchise? I mean, how much do they
still need? How relevant are they going to be over
the next several years.

Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
I like the upswing of the Pacers, you know, Carla
coming in great higher, They're gonna go as far as Halliburton.
But also they need some more. They need another big bodied,
bruiser type power forward. You know, Miles Turner, you know,
he's he's decent, you know in that five spot, so

(01:24:27):
you okay there, you know, because he's inside outside guy
and he does know how to attack the rim when
he sets his mind to do it, but he doesn't
do it consistently. So to me, the problem for them
is going to be getting a power forward because Secom's
not a power forward. Seeacomes are three, and so if
they going out and get somebody like that, that could

(01:24:48):
just you know, man the like an Aaron Gordon would
be perfect for them. Somebody like that. So guard wise,
they set at the guards. They have some solid gods
and some good shooting, so they sat there. They just
need another big body and time and time. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
I had a friend of mine, we're talking about these
two game sevens yesterday, and he said he was gonna
double down on the road teams. He goes, I love
the Pacers, I love the t Wolves. And I'm thinking
to myself, has that ever happened before in the history
of the NBA, where two home teams lose a Game

(01:25:33):
seven on the same day. I'm gonna guess it's never happened.

Speaker 3 (01:25:38):
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
I mean, there's been home teams that have lost Game seven,
but two on the same day. But I did say
this to him, I said, I think he probably got
a fifty to fifty shot here. I think that one
of these road teams could win, and at least early on,
the Pacers look like a team that's ready to spoil
the party for the New York Knicks.

Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
Have more of a chance to beat the Knicks, then
the Timberwolves have a chance of beating the Denver Nuggets.
That's the bottom line, because I mean Pacers had the
Knicks beat in New York already, and through whatever everything,
so through no fault of the all, whether it was
you know, the referees or something something happened where the

(01:26:24):
Knicks came back and won. But I think they know
how to play the Knicks, and the pressure will mount
on the Knicks the more the game goes along. And
if they keep, you know, a deficit of double digits,
the Knicks are gonna be in trouble because they're gonna
start thinking about it. And then the fans, those great

(01:26:44):
New York Knicks that want to say go New York, Go,
New York Go, They're gonna start boom and when that hits,
it's a wrap.

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
Well, the story of this first quarter is what you
talked about. The stars have to show up, and for
Indiana it has been the case. Haliburton and Siakam twenty
five points combined in this first quarter for the Pacers
combined ten of thirteen from the field, so they've been
on absolute fire early on. The Knicks are going to

(01:27:15):
have to find some answers real quick air. So we
talked about Thibodeau and his abilities as a coach, and
you said, at some point, even though players decide games,
this is where coaches have to step in. If you're
suddenly at the end of the quarter and you look
up and the Pacers almost have forty in the first quarter.
Your defense ain't getting the job done. What does a

(01:27:37):
guy like Thibodeau do to turn this thing around?

Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
Well, that's not coaching, that's effort. It's too different.

Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
Wait but whit wait hold on, See I've always been
trying to justify and coaches roles period, because there's only
one staff for a coach. It's called wins and lossesp.
That's that's your stack. How many games you win, how
many did you lose? If you win more than you lose,
you have a better chance to keep your job. Nick's
trying to get something going here in the final seconds

(01:28:05):
of the first quarter, and a three ball is no
good and that is the quarter. So Indiana leads this
one by a score of thirty nine to twenty seven,
Haliburton with four to three point shots made in this
first quarter. But it just seems to me, if if
your team is lacking effort in a game seven at home,

(01:28:27):
you better do something as a coach to wake him up.

Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
Well, yeah, you have to, But at the same time,
there's so many different components. Ogi Adanoby coming back to me.
He was a liability on defense, because he's not gonna
be able to move laterally the way he was before
the injury. So you got to take that into account. Again.
They trying to conjure up the spirit of willis reed.
You know. Oh, here comes lipping and I think it

(01:28:51):
was the same injury too for og and so it's like, no,
you have to be healthy. I understand you trying to
give it y'all. Yes, he made two shots, but he
was a liability on defense and Indiana was taking advantage
of that. And that's why he came out the game
and they making shots. Remember I said, makes and misses.
That's all this game is about who makes more shots.

(01:29:12):
Right now, Indiana it's knocking down shots. Halliburton's knocking shots down.
If it doesn't go in, it's good for the Knicks.
We call that good defense.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
The Pacers could not have played any better in that
first quarter. They shot seventy six percent from the field,
seventy eight percent from the three point line, and that's
why the Pacers have a twelve point first quarter lead.
Switching over to the PJA Golf Championship Final round action
going on right now. By the way, if you don't
know this Olden's got quite a golf game and a

(01:29:48):
fierce love of the game. I know that now for
a seven footer to play golf always seems to me
like a challenge. How long before you could actually get
custom clubs that actually fit your frame and allowed you
to play a normal game of golf.

Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
Oh. The first time I started golfing, I learned how
to golf in Hawaii at Kapalua, of all places, one
of the greatest golf.

Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
Courses around, one of the most beautiful.

Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
So I was with former NBA player Eddie Johnson and
Mike Woodson and they're like, hey, we're going golfing. I
had never golf, so I went out there, just say
hang out, camaraderie. So I ran a set of clubs
and lo and behole. You know, of course I'm not
going to play well. These built for six footers, right,
So I'm hacking away. They're trying to teach me. I'm hacking.

(01:30:40):
I'm like, man, this is this is whack. So last hole,
I'm one hundred and seventy yards out and I grab
a five iron and I hit it and the ball
goes in the hole.

Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Yeah, you see this how golf is it's in city.

Speaker 3 (01:30:57):
The last hole, it goes like, Okay, I like this gig.

Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
This is right. This is how so many people get
hooked on golf. You could have the worst day ever,
but you'll remember that one shot. The golf gods smile
at least once on you. It could be a long pot,
it could be an iron shot, it'd be a drake
great drive, but you hit that one shot that convinces yeah,
I can play this game.

Speaker 8 (01:31:22):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
I was like, I was hooked and so But the
funny part is I got back to Seattle and I
went and got clubs made in this company called Redbird.
I hope I can give them a shout out because
and I've played. I played with Redbirds till this day. Really,
I've had three sets of Redbirds, and I'm on my
third set right now, and till this day, I still

(01:31:43):
play with red I have other clubs.

Speaker 2 (01:31:45):
Well, you told me you're actually I actually you know, what,
what do you got for the rest of the day?

Speaker 1 (01:31:48):
Old?

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
And you said, You're going down to San Diego under Reid.
He's got a golf tournament down there. You're gonna play
in that.

Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
Yep, and that's gonna be fun. It's always a great time.
You know, they put on a great event, and so
I'm gonna golf. Hopefully I got a good team. I've
struggled the last couple of years. You know, I'm used
to winning championships now at these tournaments.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
I got a story for you. So you know, you
play in a celebrity golf tournament and they put to you,
you're like the celebrity on a team, right, And I
got hooked up as a so called celebrity on a
team with four minor league hockey players their buddies. And
we had that one guy that just kept rolling in putts,

(01:32:29):
I mean twenty five feet and our score is I
think we finished at thirteen under. You're only allowed two
mulligans as a team. We used the two mulligans, but
we posted a thirteen under score. So I'm talking to
some of my other friends. Right, we're coming out the course.
What were you at seven hunder six center? I mean,
I'm like, we won. We won. So now you got

(01:32:50):
the post banquet, right, I knew this was going to happen.
So we get to the post banquet and they're going
third play so and so and minus ten second place
at minus thirteen Steve Hartman's group, and I'm like, somebody
beat us and in first place with a score of
minus nineteen. Deacon Jones. Oh wow, now, Deacon my dear friend,

(01:33:16):
the late great Deacon Jones, one of my favorite people
full time. But he was so notorious in these celebrity cultros.
I'm like, what, No, there's no way, no way. We
had two mulligans too. How many mullets, Steve. We all
used to liar, uh huh liar.

Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
Oh I run across those teams. Yeah, trust me. They
wait till the last score is posting, and they put this.

Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
It was unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (01:33:45):
I'm good, Yeah, it's all right though. I've won my share,
and so I'm happy with them. You got some trophies
and a lot of times I'll get with and again,
it's just fun. You know, you out there with a
good group. When you get a good group, it doesn't
matter anymore. Like I played in in Sacramento recently, Greg
Rohan baseball player, I played in his. I had the
pleasure of playing with these four ladies. But they were

(01:34:07):
all golfers. Yeah, and I loved it because they were
all can hit the ball. So I didn't even have
to drive because you know they tea from the women's
teas man, that's sixty seventy yards on some of the
holes already. I was like, I'm good, I'll let y'all
drive and then you know, we'll bring it in. And
we finished at sixteen under. Wow, which is a great score,

(01:34:34):
phenomenal in eighteen holes. But the problem with this golf
tournament was if you paid, you know, you can get
a hold in one based on if you gave a
five thousand dollars. So a lot of people were buying
scores and I didn't. I wasn't feeling that. I mean,
it was for the cause, you know, we're there to

(01:34:54):
make money, but I'm trying to play and win.

Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
I'm your editor, thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (01:34:58):
I'm like, what you know, the lady, you know, we
did the little you know, like we'll do like maybe
twenty dollars over here for something. But I'm like these
people were buying holes like they were like holding one.
If you pay one thousand dollars, you get to hit
your first shot from one hundred and fifty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
You just you go straight to the green and she's
just twenty five.

Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
Come on, there's only eighteen holes in go.

Speaker 2 (01:35:28):
All right, ridiculous. All right, coming here in the LS,
we'll update you on that's PGA tournament. And of course
we got to you all over this matchup between the
Pacers and the Knicks, and it's not looking good for
the home team. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:35:42):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
Steve Harman, Olden Polonies Here Fox Sports Sunday Live from
the ti Raq dot Com studios. It's getting ugly at
the guarden. How about this. Pacers lead the Knicks by
twenty fifty two twenty two, eight minutes ago. In the
second quarter, Pacers are shooting seventy nine percent in this game.

(01:36:16):
Seventy nine percent shooting, seventy nine percent shooting for the
Pacers in this game. And it has been a rough
go for the Knicks. So they're gonna have a steep
hill to climb. Uh And by the way, the Pacers
are passing the ball twenty two field goals made, sixteen assists.

Speaker 3 (01:36:37):
It's insane. They've missed five shots. Yes, it's insane. I mean,
I knew the Pacers were gonna have a run early,
but I didn't think they were going to continue that run.
I thought the Knicks would like man up and do something. Wow,
And it's only gonna get worse because the more time runs.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
That's another one.

Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
Pacers and the birds way way all have birds.

Speaker 2 (01:37:04):
They're showing. They've been showing every celebrity at the garden
and there are a lot of them all deck out
of their next gear and the Yeah, well, the Knicks
are just gonna have to catch fire here. So we
talked about stars showing up. Bruntson three of nine shooting
six points, three and nine shooting six points for Brunton.

(01:37:26):
Right now, to put that in perspective, Halliburton has got
fourteen points. And by the way, this run here in
the second quarter, extending the PACER's lead is coming from
their bench.

Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
Yeah, it's those guys. TJ. McConnell. He's done well, he's
he's posting up.

Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
They got Jackson in the game. He made both of
his shots. Shepherds in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Yeah, Ben Shepherd. Yeah goodness.

Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
Actually their bench is only this one shot, So the
Pacers are hey.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
Here we go. They made two in a row. Yeah, go,
Knicks go?

Speaker 8 (01:37:58):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
The Knicks are with an call me if they get
it into single digits, right, I.

Speaker 3 (01:38:03):
Tell you they gonna make They gotta make a run.
That's them. It don't matter what the lead is, the
Knicks will make a run. All right.

Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
So while that's going on, and of course we'll talk
more about the game later tonight between the Nuggets and
the te Wolves. We got this final round the PGA
Golf Championship going on right now. Xanderschaffley, acknowledged by just
about everyone, is the best golfer not to win a
major golf championship, his major. His major record is remarkable.
He has played in twenty seven majors. He's been top

(01:38:31):
twenty twenty times in twenty seven starts. He's got a
dozen top tens, he got half a dozen top fives.
He's never won, and right now he has a two
shot lead. And of course, pair with Morikaw has won
a couple of majors. The question of Maricaw has always
been his putter, and he's not making putts today, so
that's good news for Chaffley. So he is teeing off

(01:38:52):
right now with the two shot lead over Victor Hovelin
and Bryson Deshambeau. I'm rooting for this guy. I mean,
he's a San Diego kid, he's a San Diego State guy,
and we've been covering his career forever. I like to
see him finally break through and get the money because
you always feel like a guy like this who's always
in contention seemingly a major's if he just wins one.

(01:39:15):
Is how it was with Phil Michelson. You know, for
years Phil just could not win that first major. Then
he won the Masters, and all of a sudden he
was able to rattle off a couple of more majors.
So keep our eye on that. Let's see, are the
Knicks making any run here?

Speaker 3 (01:39:28):
No, it's eighteen, but I mean they at home and
they down eighteen. That's almost like down twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
Again, look at they're just showing every celebrity face.

Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
They're stunned right now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
They're just looking up like is this for real? Are
the Knicks already down eighteen points in the first half
of this game?

Speaker 3 (01:39:49):
You know what, can I say something about Xander Schoffley? Yeah,
you know, I mean you make a great point about
you know, you know, reading off his stats like that.
But it's insane. And when you think about it, that
this guy all those top tens, top fives, Yeah, and
you're nowhere near winning a championship, and it's like, how
does that happen?

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
You're playing well in the final round.

Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
That's why it goes to show you the craziness of golf.
I mean, this guy is insanely good, but he cannot
win a major.

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Ricky Fowler was that way, he could not win a major,
still never won a major. I mean, it's it's not
easy golf. Now, John Day won two majors. Don't you
like his game? The other day? So he smoked. He
shot an eighty two withdrew that he's in a cart,
but that here was the best part. He couldn't put
the bag in the cart, so they allowed him to

(01:40:42):
use a cart, but he's still had a cat. He
carried the bag and he smoked two packs of cigarettes
during the round. He ate four Snickers bars large one
and then drank two cokes.

Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
So they love John. Is he just.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
Testing to see how much he can do to his
body before finally says John, we're gonna call it a day,
or what's he doing there.

Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
I don't know, man, but I just love being around here.
He's one of the funniest people. Oh absolutely, I mean
I still remember that. I can't remember the tournament. It
might have been the British Open when he had the shakes.
Oh yeah, my goodness. I was scared for him at
that point. I thought he gave all that stuff up.
But apparently he hasn't. So he withdrew from PGA.

Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
Right, yes, yeah, he he just shot in eighty two
and just called.

Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
Call it okay, Steve. If golfers like that shoot eighties
in a tournament, what would we shoot?

Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
Well, I can only go by one experience. So in
nineteen ninety five, this championship, the PGA Championship, was at
the Riva or A country club, and they allowed media
members to play the course. That was about six weeks before.
But they were getting ready for a minut, which means
that Kokuia grass rough. It's gonna raise a little bit
and the greens are gonna be a little bit slicker.

(01:42:06):
I'd played the course a couple of times. It's at
a time I was playing a decent amount of golf
and forget it. I mean, I had the rough way,
it was like, literally, if there was one blade of
this Kakuia grass between the face of the club and
the ball, it would break your wrist like barbed wire.

Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
And by the way, the winning score is like seventeen
under for that tournament. They just tore up the course.
The proskill these guys are ridiculously good. By the way,
Scotty Scheffler, I think is finished either shot at sixty
five I believe today or sixty four too little too

(01:42:48):
late after yesterday's this seaeon he actually shot at sixty fives,
so he finished at thirteen hundred. It's not going to
be good enough. But Scheffler rebounding after yesterday's disappointing seventy three.
All right, let's find out what's trending right now. We're
talking about the game. She's watching these games and the
golf going on right now. It's a very busy day,
a championship day. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:43:07):
Yesterday, Steve, when we were talking to Mark Medina.

Speaker 7 (01:43:09):
I questioned the Pacers maybe having the edge and he
was like, no, no, New York has the edge, and
I just I was surprised if Pacers went to Game
seven again.

Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
Pacers are shooting eighty percent. They're twenty four of thirty. Yeah,
but seven to ten from the three point line. That
you are shooting eighty percent with five minutes to go
in the first half, you know you.

Speaker 6 (01:43:32):
Gotta step up, and they have stepped up. I understand
that that is not sustainable.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
How about defensively doing something here? And I'm sorry, I
mean at some point, knock somebody over, do something, get
them out of the rhythm.

Speaker 6 (01:43:46):
Yeah, yeah, but no, it's all Pacers so far. You
guys are right. Fifty six thirty nine is the score?
Is that the latest? Let's refresh just to make sure.

Speaker 7 (01:43:54):
Yes, five and a half minutes to go in the
first half.

Speaker 6 (01:43:58):
Tyrese Halliburn fourteen points. Leading scorer Dante DiVincenzo.

Speaker 7 (01:44:02):
Has twelve points for the Knicks, who are playing with
og On Nanobi and Josh Hart, but you know they
have been injured.

Speaker 6 (01:44:08):
So pacers so far in this first half.

Speaker 7 (01:44:12):
We do have another game seven later today in the
NBA from Denver Nuggets and the Timberwo Zach games and
start until.

Speaker 6 (01:44:18):
Eight pm Eastern time. At the PGA Championship.

Speaker 7 (01:44:21):
You just mentioned that Scotti Scheffler did come back a
little bit, a little too late, though he is thirteen
under par overall.

Speaker 6 (01:44:27):
He has done for the day. He did shoot a
sixty five in the final round.

Speaker 7 (01:44:30):
Xander Schoffley in the lead all by himself eighteen under
par overall.

Speaker 6 (01:44:35):
For today, he is three under through seven holes. Victor Hovlin, Bryce.

Speaker 7 (01:44:39):
And Deshambo are now two shots back. Colin Morrikawa, who
was in the lead to start this final round, is
now three shots back. And in soccer, Manchester United did
be west Ham United three to one, so man City
becomes a first team to win the Premier League four.

Speaker 6 (01:44:54):
Years in a row.

Speaker 7 (01:44:55):
And in Major League Baseball, we got the Reds and
the Dodgers playing right now for Mala, scoreless in the
bottom of the second inning. The Mets are beating the
Marlins by more now at seven to three bottom of
the ninth in Miami, the Brewers have added some runs,
but the Astros are still on top nine to four
bottom of the seventh. The Royals are beating the A's
eight to four top of the ninth in Kansas City,
and the Pirates have taken the lead over the Cubs

(01:45:17):
three to two.

Speaker 6 (01:45:18):
Top of the eighth inning.

Speaker 7 (01:45:19):
The Angels have taken the lead over the Rangers, excuse me,
four to one top of the eighth, as well, the
Rockies on the scoreboard, beating the Giants one zero in
San Francisco bottom of the second, and the Diamondbacks with
the early lead over the Tigers to zero top of
the second. The Red Sox they crushed the Cardinals eleven
to three. The Yankees have now won seven in a row.

(01:45:39):
They beat the White Sox seven to two to.

Speaker 6 (01:45:41):
Complete the sweep.

Speaker 7 (01:45:42):
The Orioles with the six to three victory over the Mariners.
Gunner Henderson now leads Major League Baseball with fifteen homers.

Speaker 6 (01:45:49):
The Phillies they beat the Nationals eleven to five. The
Blue Jays avoided the sweep.

Speaker 7 (01:45:53):
They beat the Rays five to two, and the Guardians
walked it off against the Twins. Five to three was
the final score. Spin five fellas back to you.

Speaker 2 (01:46:01):
All right, Monsie, great job as always. The Knicks defense
is showing some more intensity, but there's no slowing down
their shot making. The Pacers, who's shooting eighty one percent?

Speaker 3 (01:46:12):
Oh my god, they still knocking down shots.

Speaker 2 (01:46:15):
They're still knocking down shots. You can see the Knicks
are trying to step up their intensity on the defensive end,
but they're not making shots and it is still a
nineteen point Pacers lead with four minutes to go in
the first of sixty one points. Oh ready for the Pacers.
This is not exactly an offensive juggernaut team.

Speaker 3 (01:46:36):
My goodness, Well they are officers jugging out. They would
have number one scoring team in the NBA. Well, I mean,
in this seriace, they just shoot. They're making shots. But
it's like again, it's the Knicks home and they down
and so to me, they need more. Okay, they're scoring

(01:46:58):
right now. You cannot exchange baskets. You have to be
able to stop the Pacers. At some point in time,
you're gonna have to stop them.

Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
It's unbelievable. Twenty six out of thirty three from the field,
seventy nine percent shooting for this Pacers team. But again,
the stat that just jumps out of me as their
assist nineteen assists on twenty six field goals made. So
they're doing it. You're talking about the inside outside game,
Pacers getting into the middle line, passing out to wide
open shooters and they're making their shots.

Speaker 3 (01:47:28):
This game is not difficult, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
So the Knicks have closed within sixteen we'll keep our
eye on this and I'm just gonna pick the Pacers
to make their next shot. I'm just predicting. And there
it is.

Speaker 3 (01:47:40):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
And one, oh and one.

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
He just wanted to pat his stats, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
So again, since this team, this Indiana Pacers team, and
what did job Rick Carlisle's done over the last couple
of years to get the Pacers where they are? If
they hold off the Knicks and win this game. You
were talking earlier about the Knicks matching up against the Celtics.
If the Pacers play anywhere near this level, how do

(01:48:09):
they match up against the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (01:48:11):
Ah, it's gonna be difficult for them because I think
that matchup bodes well for the Celtics only because of
the Jays, Jelen and Jason. But again, you never know.
It's like but if they shoot like this, it doesn't
matter who's in front of them. But you can't sustain

(01:48:34):
this kind of effort, man, nobody can. I don't even
think they're gonna play this well in the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Well, they won't, and that's gonna be the real key, obviously,
is the third quarter. And we've seen him many times
before a team gets on a good run just gets
himself if the Knicks can you know, depending on what
the halftime score is, that we still got three minutes
to go in the first half. Pacers up nineteen. But
let's say if you get to single digits at home

(01:49:01):
going into the fourth quarter, now you're giving yourself a chance.
But again for the Knicks, right now, Brunston is three
for nine for the field seven points.

Speaker 3 (01:49:10):
Yeah, he's struggling right now.

Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
Now he has seven assist in this game. But they
need bruntson scoring.

Speaker 3 (01:49:17):
Yeah, they do, and it's gonna come. I mean, NBA
basketball is a game of runs. And the one thing
I've noticed over the last fifteen plus years, there's no
such sting as a big lead anymore, especially in today's NBA.
There's no such twenty points. Now, I watched a Dallas
Mavericks team come back from thirty one, you know, to

(01:49:39):
take the lead. So twenty thirty points is nothing because
of the three point shooting aspect.

Speaker 2 (01:49:46):
So all right, so Pacers now with a seventeen point lead,
we'll keep our eye on that. One quick jump is
people tuning in right now, old and want to get
your thoughts on the matchup where the Nuggets despite getting
blown out. It was the biggest blowout loss ever by
a defending champion team in their Game six loss on
the road against the tee Wolves. And yet the Nuggets

(01:50:11):
are healthy four and a half five point favorites at
home in Game seven.

Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
Yeah, as they should be.

Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
Well they should be, But will the final score reflect
the spread.

Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
They're gonna beat Minnesota whatever the points spread is.

Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
They even if Jamal Murray is subpar.

Speaker 3 (01:50:29):
Jamal Murray subpart at home as bad as Jamalburry subpart
in Minnesota. And that's what you gotta remember. Players play
better at home for the most parts. And a championship
caliber team see the Knicks at home. But they're not
a championship caliber team. They haven't won it yet. They
haven't won a championship Denver has, so they know what

(01:50:50):
to do. Malone's gonna make his adjustments. Guys are gonna
be raided to go. They slept in their own beds.
They happy. Hey, we got a game seven. At the
beginning of this series, no one was thinking that there
would be a game seven or six or five, because
they got annihilated at home the first two games, and

(01:51:13):
we talked about it. Also, you're not gonna beat this
team three times in Denver. I'll put whatever anybody wants.

Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
You can't see Ki walking off a loser tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
No, No, not tonight, not at home. If this game
was in Minnesota, then I'm then.

Speaker 2 (01:51:30):
Yesterday I went on the record saying that the Denver
Nuggets will win back to back NBA championships.

Speaker 3 (01:51:39):
I said that six months ago. Sit that on our.

Speaker 2 (01:51:45):
Couple something, right, So you are one hundred percent certain
that this Nuggets team, even though they've been really up
and down all season long, will ultimately prevail and hoist
yet another NBA championship.

Speaker 3 (01:51:59):
Yes, I do, and it was expected. You're gonna feel
that way because you know exactly what it see is.
I drove down this road. I know exactly the turns
that I need to make. I know which you know
which stops to make. I know it now, and it's
the same thing all over again. I'm following the same path.

(01:52:20):
It doesn't matter who's in front of us. We know
what to do and the rest of these teams don't.

Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
Justin Rose, there's a name from the past. Just dropped
another Birdie Putts, So he's within three shots of the
lead right now, Victor Hoblin just made a putties within
two shots of the lead of Zenner shotflet one shot. Oh,
that was a birdie to get to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:52:47):
Victor Hoblin one of my favorites.

Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
Wait a second, how many favorite golfers do you say?

Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
Hey, man, I love good golf, man, I can have
a multitude of them.

Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Are you Justin Thomas fan?

Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
Two times?

Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
He just dropped the birdie there on third.

Speaker 3 (01:53:00):
I love JT. I love Justin Rose. Let me ask you,
I love Colin. I'm a I'm a fan of Shoftley.

Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Are you a fan of Tiger Woods trying to resurrect
his career? Did you see those two triple bogeys he
had on Friday?

Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
Tiger's legend. Man, he doesn't need to play golf anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
Thank you. Now you're speaking to what I say. One
he owes the game of golf, nothing, nothing, zero. I
never felt like I don't want him to be a
ceremonial guy like you know people. Oh, I don't care
if he's playing well. I just want to see Tiger well,
not on the course. That pains me to watch him

(01:53:38):
on a course that they've been carving up and destroying
and he posts two triple bogies in a three hole span.

Speaker 3 (01:53:46):
Steve the best wagon.

Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Going shots out of the sand.

Speaker 3 (01:53:50):
I'm going to use this analogy and it applies because
there's a double ontandre with the word. You don't ever
want to be the old man in the club. I'm
not going to be in a nightclub at sixty years old.
You don't want to be the old man the club.
Right now at the golf club, you don't. You know,

(01:54:10):
let these kids have it. They you know, you have
the senior Tour if you want to continue play.

Speaker 2 (01:54:17):
You But you talked about competitive spirit. I mean there
was no greater competitor.

Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
Obviously they cut that away from They cut that out
of them. Well after that, right out of him, right
out of him, when he stood up there and apologized
and everything else, it was over. It was over. Yeah.
He ended up winning a couple more tournaments and a
major two, but it was old that that Tiger Woods

(01:54:42):
is gone. We have Eldrick.

Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
Now, wow, I've never heard it said that way. All right,
coming up on the other side, we'll continue to update
you on the Pacers, next predictions for the game tonight,
and of course more on the PGA Golf Championship. This
is Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:55:00):
You're listening to Fox Sports really.

Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
Steve Harbin, Olden Polonies here Fox Sports Sunday Live from
the tyrack dot Com studios. Want to thank everybody today, Monci,
she's everywhere, has her own show, she co hosts with
some guy and then hangs out with us on Sundays
updating every night halftime. Thank you very much. She's she's
doing enough. She's recording stuff there, Chris, Chris on the board.

(01:55:27):
There's she's talking all the time. You know that she's
always working one hundred percent of the time. And right
I I don't know what to say, Man, is this?
Are we getting spoiled here? Consecutive weeks to see you again?
I never know when it's I'm going to see someone
next time, so I just say until next time. Well,
I think I said that last week and then you

(01:55:48):
showed up again. Yeah, this is probably it, Steve. Yeah,
I don't think we're doing a threepeat. In fact, I
don't think you'll ever see me again. Oh that is
not true. Bo hanging out? What's he doing these days?
Oh yeah, he's Uh, I don't I don't know, Well
he needed, he told me. He told me very cleanly.
It's like Chris, I I can't stand Steve. I need

(01:56:09):
some time away. That's funny because he finally followed me
on Twitter, which the first or x first time in
all these years, and I said, with the real account,
not the burner account. You know, that's that's impressive, very impressive.
So bo Benson on, all right, we're at halftime now
with the Pacers leading the next seventy to fifty five.

(01:56:30):
Seventy to fifty five. The Pacers shot seventy six percent
in the first half. How many times have you seen
a team shoot on the road seventy six percent and
a half.

Speaker 3 (01:56:41):
It's been a minute for me. Yeah, we might have
to go way way back to find that one. But
you know, I told you, man, I appreciate OLG. I
don't I'll be making the attempt. But come on, man,
the Knicks can't be trying to pull that willis read thing.

Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
Mane welly, we played the first five minutes and he
hasn't been seeing that. Yeah, he played five minutes. He
made both shots. He threw up. The problem was defense
and that sort of set the tone for the Knicks
defense for the rest of the half. Yeah, and it
got the pacers off and running and they have not

(01:57:16):
slowed down a bit seventy six percent field goal percentage
in the first half. Meanwhile, the PJA Golf Championship, Xander
Schaffle is on his way if he continues to play
like he's playing right now to win his first major
golf championship. Four under on the front nine, four birdies,
five pars. He has a two shot lead Marikawa, who's

(01:57:37):
playing with nine holes, nine pars. Oh, you've got to
make the putts, and he is not making putts right now.
So Shaflet with a two shot lead over to Shambo
and Victor Hoplin and.

Speaker 3 (01:57:50):
Is in trouble after that drive.

Speaker 2 (01:57:52):
Now, are you one that's gonna watch this rest of
this golf turner?

Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
And yeah, I'm gonna be watching while I'm driving.

Speaker 2 (01:57:59):
Okay, I will be driving in a different direction then, Okay,
if you're watching the Gulf when you're driving, I'm going
the other way.

Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
Hey man, I haven't.

Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
I actually am going.

Speaker 3 (01:58:09):
You're going.

Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
I'm heading to Phoenix.

Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
It's hand held.

Speaker 2 (01:58:13):
I mean, it's up I know, and I can watch it. Everyone.

Speaker 3 (01:58:18):
Well, I glance, I have to follow you I'm gonna
be more.

Speaker 2 (01:58:22):
I gotta be following on my phone. In other words,
I'll be sort of gauging.

Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
I'll be more listening. It's like when you're driving and
you gotta look for the directions. Same thing. I just
glanced to see what's happening. Yeah's an watching full movies.

Speaker 2 (01:58:39):
Move Oh my, So are you pretty keen? Blowout? I mean,
I know we got people that want to wager on
this game between the Nuggets and Tea Wolves. Mentioned they
actually the line came down and opened it five and
a half. There's a lot of money on the Tea Wolves,
a lot of money. It's moving in the other direction.
Could you see a double digit victory for the Nuggets

(01:59:00):
at home tonight?

Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
I can see a double digit victory for the Nuggets, Yes,
because it's gonna get you know, Sea Wolves are gonna
come out hot, ready to play. Then Nuggets will settle
in and then they're gonna like pretty much run the
table and it's gonna end up being double figures because
at the end of the game, they're gonna have the
foul send people to the foul line. That's what you're
gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (01:59:21):
But you do have Anthony Edwards. So I mean you
and I are in accord when we talk about superstar
is a way overused term, and I'm not even saying
Anthony Edwards is there yet. Because you gotta win championships.
You got to you gotta be that guy. That is
the difference in a team winning a championship, as Jokic

(01:59:43):
proved last year. Yeah, as Jannis proved when he led
the Bucks to an NBA championship. But you know he
is capable. Edwards could go off.

Speaker 3 (01:59:56):
He can, but again, everybody else has to step up,
and so that's going to be the key. You know,
they made the shot. To me, the worst thing believe
or that was them doing what they did to the Nuggets.
They shot their load. They shot it at home. I
would have held on to something. They just emptied all

(02:00:18):
the cartridges. I don't think they're going to do the
same thing again tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:00:22):
I know we didn't talk any NFL today. Oh were
you as Did you have a watch party when they
announced the schedule?

Speaker 3 (02:00:29):
You know, we'll come to stop. I wish I would.
That's when I got thinking about getting in hospice.

Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
There are people that actually have watch parties. When they
announced the schedule.

Speaker 3 (02:00:40):
Are you serious?

Speaker 2 (02:00:41):
For the NFL? This is how I'm not kidding. They
were people posting on social media watch parties to see
what win the games because you already knew who was
playing and where they were playing, just the dates of
the games.

Speaker 3 (02:00:55):
That's a shame, man. People need to get out more.

Speaker 2 (02:00:58):
And of course one thing we're going to watches how
the NFL remember when they used to give Christmas Day.
Let me throw it at you. Here's what I would
do real quick. The NBA season instead of October to
June should be December to August. NBA Finals in August,
playoffs in August against Baseball. Would own it. Stay away

(02:01:22):
from the NFL, NBA, keep it here. This is Fox
