listening to Fox Sports Radio. Boom Up America, Doug Gottleave Show,
Fine Sports Radio Man. Do we got a lot of
things to do today? Reckon shop on the Doug Gotlap Show.
Chris Sims will join us UH twenty five after this hour.
It's two a time in Miami. Too soon, too late,

(00:43):
we'll find out. Doug Whale will join us. Former Bills
general manager get his thoughts on the Bills, his thoughts
on the Cowboys, his thoughts on the Chiefs, his thoughts
on the league. Right, got great perspective having tried to
build what they've ended up building in the in Buffalo.
Plus Robbie good as Gould will join his kicker for
the San Francisco forty Niners. Let me let me start

(01:03):
with this, um. Does Mike McCarthy have a scantly dressed
assistant or maybe an assistant that doesn't say a word
and simply does the walla thing. Does he wear a
wizard's hat? Does he have one of those things that

(01:27):
magicians have with the he does he have a Wand
the answer is no, no, Doug, he does not. Well,
then he's not a magician. And of course it would
take a magician to make this team any good against
a reputable NFL team. Because they lost Zack Martin last

(01:47):
last night, he of course is they're starting right guard
arguably the best or one of the two or three
best guards in the Nation Football League. They already lost
their book end tackles, their center retire before the season began,
and last week they lost their quarterback for the rest
the season. Outside of that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the show? Right?

(02:08):
How was the show? Now? Now? I hear the criticism
that Jane Slater has relayed, Where you have players saying
they're not good at the coaches aren't good at their job,
we're not prepared, they don't teach. I hear you. I
can also point out that the players themselves aren't good

(02:31):
at their job and aren't learning. But regardless, honestly, regardless
of the outcome, I I think there's a chance McCarthy
gets a pass because does anybody realize that Cowboys are
still in first place? As bad as it seems. The

(02:52):
Cowboys are still in first place. As bad as it seems,
It's not like the Giants are gonna overtake them. It's
not like the the Washington football team is going to
overtake them. And however bad the injuries are for the Cowboys,
the Eagles seem to have it worse with the exception
of having their starting quarterback Carson Wentz, who, as we

(03:15):
pointed out, played incredible football Sunday and they still lost.
So look, you can take a lot of pride in
dancing on the grave of the Dallas Cowboys. One, they're
not dead too, They're actually in first place. And three,
I think they can figure some things out. And they

(03:36):
walked into a bit of a buzz saw with a
Cardinal team that I'm gonna admit I questioned their defense
to start the year. I've never had questions about Kyler Murray.
I realized they would score some points. I just didn't
know if they could stop anybody and if the defense
and offense could coexist. Based upon what's happened with Cliff

(03:57):
going back to when he was at coach Texas Tech.
And the answer to this point is yes, good enough.
We'll see when they're get into more divisional play because
their division is arguably the toughest in football if the
Niners get healthy. But but I look last night and
we have all these panic buttons with the Dallas Cowboys,
and we got to realize, Bro, I don't care who

(04:19):
it is. You lose your quarterback, You're gonna stink. You
lose your left tackle, your right tackle, your right guard,
and your center and your quarterback, and the likelihood that
you can you can even play NFL football is minimal.
Those guys are backups for a reason. And just so

(04:40):
you're aware, they're not the only team with all of
those injuries. The Charges have lost most of their offensive line.
We pointed out the Eagles have lost most of their
offensive line, and then even to get a replacement that
does do people understand how difficult it is this year?
Even if you trade for somebody who's been in the
COVID protocol, do you know they have to quarantine for

(05:02):
six days in a hotel room before they can even
show up at your facility to start working. Out. Yeah, listen,
I understand that some of you are gonna do this
thing to where you're gonna go. You know, Godlim is
a basketball ax part a basketball player, so I hate dish.

(05:22):
I know flatball because he was a basket ball player. Well, okay,
that's that's cool. I don't know it on the level
of my friend Jeff Schwartz or or Chris Simmas is
gonna join us, or Doug Whaley or Robbie Gould, But
I know it on the level of a guy who
playing professional sports and having connections and talking to people.
I learned. I've learned things every year that I've been

(05:44):
doing this job, and I'm gonna tell you right now,
this year is eating people alive with these injuries, and
it makes makes good coaches look like bad coaches, makes
bad coaches look like a joke, makes great coaches look okay, Like,
would anybody question the quality of coaching in New England?

(06:07):
If I said to you, Hey, how good do you
think that New England staff is with Josh McDaniels offensive
coordinator and Bill Belichick's head coach, you would say, I
think it's pretty pretty damn good, wouldn't you? Did you
watch them play Sunday. They looked like they hadn't had
a practice in a month. And you know what, they
struggled to have practice recently because of COVID. You're not practicing.

(06:29):
You didn't have O T A s in preseason. You
expanded your roster, but it doesn't matter. Those guys are
backups for a reason. You lose your offensive line, you
lose your quarterback. Everybody. Now, on the other hand, when
you start to understand that the players aren't into the
coaches you still do, you start to figure out maybe
we made the wrong call right, Maybe we made the

(06:53):
wrong call. Yes, the owner picked the offensive coordinator, but
the offense up until last night hadn't been the problem
the defense had. I've heard Cowherd say, start all over.
Why would you possibly start all over? You're still in
first place. You've got plenty of dudes, plenty of weapons.
You got to move some pieces around. You're in better

(07:13):
shape than everybody else in your division. Then, not right
now because you don't have DAK, but long term you are.
So listen, I understand it's really easy to hit the
panic button. And I too, watch the Cowboys and think
he aches, But what did you expect to see you

(07:34):
know what, what what did you really expect when it's
not just that they lost their offensive line. That team
is built around the offensive line. And when you put
that much money in the offensive line, what do you
think their backups are gonna look like you got a
ten million dollar tackle. You're not gonna have a ten
million or a five million dollar tackle behind him. That's

(07:56):
not the way it works. You get whatever you can
get and you throw it out there and you hope
you figure it out. Now. Look, quality coaching would be
keeping guys together and you'd see comments like, you know,
we're really depleted, but these coaches, they are in with us,
and we were gonna figure it out eventually. You don't
hear that. And I do think there's a good chance,

(08:21):
a better than average chance, that even if he makes
the playoffs, Mike McCarthy could be out of a job
because McCarthy acted like he was some changed guy. Studied
this analytics that went through a year watching film and
it's been the same thing. But if you're ever gonna
give anybody a pass, losing essentially your entire starting offensive line,

(08:45):
when your team is built around your offensive line, then
losing your quarterback who led the league in offense last
year and was leading the league in passing this year.
I kind of think that's deserving of some sort of
a pass for having no offense. I didn't have having
no offense of don down me right now. This is um,

(09:06):
Mike McCarthy after the game last night. Most importantly, I
didn't coach very well. I have a continuing issue with
with ball security on my football team. Um. That's something
I'd personally take a lot of pride in and and
and how it reflects how you played the game of football.
And I'm not getting that done right now. I love that.
I love that fake that that that what is it? Fake? Um?

(09:30):
When you when you take things on yourself, it's like
being fake humble, right, that's on me. Fake accountability, that's
on me. We didn't hold on the football to night.
I take special pride that, like, dude, stop it. We
know you're calling out the ball handlers that fumble the football.
We get it. Of all the things to be fake
accountable for that one's it's that it's not that this

(09:55):
is not that hard. We got our butts whooped. We
obviously weren't well coached. If we were well coached, this
wouldn't have happened, but instead you go to ball security.
Now you're like, all right, you're doing the I'll take
this finger myself. But really, I'm pointing at that guy.
You point at that guy, you know. Yeah, you fumbled

(10:15):
too much. Yeah, you turn the football over too much.
Andy Dalton through two picks they looked awful, I mean horrendous,
worse than awful. But don't do the fake humble thing.
That doesn't work for us either. All right, A lot
to get to, uh Chris Simms in fifteen minutes. Coming
up next, I think I think we saw something from

(10:39):
Kyler Murray which gives credit to something I said last week.
Why is it working in Arizona. It's a very simple answer.
I'll share it with you next. Be sure to catch
the live edition of The Doug gott Leap Show weekdays
at three p m. Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio in the I Heart Radio. Whap uh. Pat Mahomes
is the fastest to nine need touchdown passes. That shouldn't

(11:01):
surprise any of us. His fourth year quarterback reached the
mark in thirty seven games, passing Dan Marino, who did
it in forty games should be pointed out that Pat
Mahomes only played one game his rookie year. Those games
don't count against him because he didn't start those games.
So look, when the story is told, I hope we

(11:23):
tell a fair story. That's all you can really really
ask for. Right, Like most of you know, I I
think the world of Sam Donald as a person, and
I think he's still a hell of a player. I'm
not bailing him my same. I don't think any quarterback
Pat Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady could play with that

(11:44):
piece of crap team poorly coached. Uh, they don't have
good enough players and they just looked completely overwhelmed. And
maybe maybe if you're old enough, vet, you can just
take what the defense gives you and get rid of
it quick and and live to play another day. Maybe
that's that's the flaw to him, as he's he's actually

(12:06):
trying to win games instead of just taking the taking
what the defense gives you. Where Mahomes he he walked
into a perfect scenario, right because he lasted until the
tenth pick, and because the Chiefs traded up, the Chiefs
are already a playoff team. Are you a playoff team?

(12:29):
And so by being a playoff team, and remember he
took over Alex Smith, who led them to the playoffs
in the year. He was the backup. He didn't have
to bail, he didn't have to make plays behind a
makeshift offensive line. He didn't have he didn't have to
wait for offensive weapons. Yes, and then they went out

(12:50):
and traded and signed Sammy Watkins. It was like they've
overpaid him for he's like the fourth best wide receiver.
So the things that they were a to do to
put a team around him or nothing short of magnificent,
which is a lot like what happened with Kyler Murray.
You watch Kyler Murray last night, and you can be

(13:12):
blown away, as I am, by his arm, his accuracy,
his feet, and he didn't even play great early in
the game, and he kind of got it together the
Cowboys game obviously expert extra opportunities when they you know,
when they kept turning the football over. But like, let's
not act like Kyler Murray was just killing it early

(13:34):
in the game. He wasn't. But he's really really good,
and he's playing an offense that he's essentially played his
whole life. Definitely what he ran most of what he
ran in Oklahoma, so he doesn't have to relearn things
and be thinking. He can just be instinctive and react
and play to his strengths. The marriage of Kyler Murray
and Cliff Kingsbury is perfect. It doesn't mean they're gonna

(13:57):
win a Super Bowl. I don't know. If it means
they get to the playoffs, we'll see a lot more
to it. But you get the best out of your
players when they get drafted into a ready to play
situation where it fits their style and they don't have
to really relearn how to play the position. I mean,
we talked about fit last week. Ryan Tannehill with the Titans. Perfect. Perfect.

(14:22):
You know, Lamar Jackson comes in and they're not making
Lamar Jackson run the same offense Joe Flacco ran. Why
would you you know? He's a read option quarterback. He's
probably the best one there has been. But that's what
he is, right you see, you see New England trying

(14:45):
to trying to use a lot of the stuff that
makes Cam Newton successful. So look, I'm not trying to
take away from the homes but if we're telling the
story accurately, we say, look, he inherited a playoff team
with an unbelievable offensive coach, a a an already built
offensive line, incredibly talented, skilled position players, and he got

(15:11):
a year to learn and to evolve and to become better,
which a lot of these guys don't. They get thrown
in the fray with a bad team, a losing team,
without good weapons, without good protection, with the coach who
is probably gonna be fired. That's what happens to most
of them. It's happen to Jared Goff, the Mits, Robinski. Hell,
that's basically what's happening to uh Sam Donald, right. I mean,

(15:35):
he's already on his second head coach, and he's gonna
be on his third if he survives till next season. Now,
is is the losing some of it his fault? I guess,
although last year they end up winning what seven games,
and he was the quarterback from many of them. Now
you add in the fact that they have a bad
roster to the fact that they have massive injuries, and

(15:57):
the team seems to quit on Adam Gaze, and I
don't know that anybody would do in that in that situation.
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Easter noon Pacific Doug
Golic Show, Fox Sports Radioize, is this running? Can I
can I make sure this is running here? I want
to make sure this is running so we can put
this out on social media so we can stop this nonsense. Okay,

(16:20):
what what this is is complete and utter nonsense. We
have we have to stop at this very moment. Okay,
I'm gonna read you a tweet from somebody who I
I respect and I like, but he's doing the thing
which is embarrassing. Okay, it's it's it's flat out embarrassing
and frankly, it sucks and I'm not gonna put up

(16:42):
with it anymore, all right, Kendrick Perkins. It's a really
good player, respected guy who's now in the media with
UH with the espn UH. Nate Jorkins just got the job,
his first head coaching job in the NBA. Nate is

(17:03):
uh forty five years old. He's from Iowa. So sports
Senner puts out the tweet. The Indiana Pacers have agreed
to a deal to hire Toronto assistant Nate Jorkin as
head coach. Sources tell Adrian Woznowski, Kendrick Perkins tweets out
it's other coaches out there that was more deserving TB

(17:26):
H To be honest, carry on, why why why are
they more deserving Kendrick? Why because he's white? He doesn't
deserve to get the job. Like, look, if you're gonna
say that somehow, race don't like, don't do the halfway thing.
Oh the dudes out there, like why? Started coaching in

(17:46):
high school basketball? Was an assistant uh with the Iowa
Energy Iowa Energy back then we're coached by Nick Nurse,
who he just worked for. Then he was the head
coach in the G League for the Dakota Wizards, UM
and the Seneca His Warriors and the Iowa Energy and
the Bakersfield Jam. He traveled around the country in the
G League and worked his way up and then made

(18:08):
his way to the Suns and then was part of
the Toronto Raptors over the last two years where they
won a championship and then after losing Kawhi Leonard, there
was no drop off in their performance. So exactly what
does he have to do in order for you, Kendrick
Perkins to think he was deserving of a job, Right,

(18:28):
I don't, I don't, I don't We just saw two coaches.
Eric Spoelser started in the film room, worked his way up,
got a job. Now, Eric Spolster probably had a little
bit of leg up because his dad was the GM
and the Trailblazers back when, but he started in the
film room. We just saw the former head coach of
the Pacers, Hey Frank Vogel, who started in the film room,
was a grad assistant at Kentucky, followed Patino to the

(18:52):
Celtics and got some video room job, worked his way up.
We would all agree that the Toronto Raptors were well coached.
Does anybody have any disagreement there? I think they're well coached. Right.
The guy put in his time, put in his effort,
gets the job. Why is he not deserving? If you

(19:13):
want to call out race, which is not a factor here.
They interviewed guys. I don't know why Nick got the job.
I don't know who else was up for the job.
All I can tell you is that, dude, at some
point you have to go. You know what, I'd like
to see what this guy's got. He worked a long
time in professional basketball. Because if his bio looks a
whole hell of a lot like the guy who he

(19:34):
worked for in Toronto in Nick Nurse, who's one, I
don't know, A hundred twenty games in two seasons as
head coach? How do we get to this point where
we can't just go like, huh interesting? Higher didn't see
that one coming, right? I love it. I love the

(19:56):
the subtle shot at racism. When they just had Nate
McMillan was black kid coach. Maybe they thought, hey, we're
probably gonna get young. We need somebody who's canna develop guys.
This is a guy who can develop guys as he
develops as a head coach. Maybe just a thought. Chris
Sims joins us on The Dug Outlip Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Um, look, I don't I don't know what

(20:20):
to make of the Cowboys, right. I don't think any
coach would be able to look great offensively when you
lose your tackles, your right your starwright guard, your center retires,
and your quarterback gets hurt. On the other hand, you're
you're hearing comments from current players saying they're not well
prepared and they're not teaching us. What do you make
of the job that Mike McCarthy is doing well? I mean, listen,

(20:43):
I think you you hit the nail on the head.
As far as the offensive side of the ball, I
don't think there's any doubt about that. You know, listen,
they're making mistakes. Certainly that's not helping a zekkiellets bumbles
all those types of things. Yes, I mean Dak Prescott again,
I think he's gonna you know, people are gonna realize
it's a little better than everybody wanted to give him
credit for their I think everybody saw that a little

(21:03):
last night. I'm not trying to, you know, bag on
Andy Dalton or anything like that. That was his first
game in a while too, so I'm sure he wasn't
hitting on all cylinders. But there is something special about
Dak Prescott, all right. And I think the biggest thing
just when I hear comments like that, Doug, it's really
more about the defense and the defensive side of the ball.
That to me is where I don't know who you blame. Hey,

(21:25):
Mike Nolan's a de coordinator there. I get that. I've
been with Mike Nolan before. He's a smart defensive mind.
But where the disconnect is is really what happened in
the off season. Why do you hire a Mike Nolan
if you're not gonna get some three four parts to
go along with him and what he does on his defense.
So he's being asked to run a defense right now

(21:48):
players with players that don't fit his defense. And that's
that's the first big issue they have. Let alone, they're
not as talented as they thought they were on that
side of the football either, so I think they kind
of miss evaluated their talent. And then yes, you know,
it's a big part of coaching, the players gotta fit
the scheme. The schemes gotta fit the players. Right now,
that doesn't work, and I think that's the biggest thing

(22:09):
you see on the defensive side of the ball, and
you see blown assignments and guys it just doesn't seem
to know what they're doing. Yeah, no, it's it's it's
not it's it's not good, not good at at all. Um,
How do we evaluate their offense with all the injuries? Yeah, well,
you know, I I've been saying this for a few weeks, Like,
you know, the run game, it ain't coming back. You

(22:32):
already hit it. I mean, it's not This is not
three four years ago where they could just impose their
physical will on any team in football. It's still run
for a hundred yards of Zekial Elliott. He's not as
good as he was three or four years ago. And
then the offensive line certainly is not there there. This
is not one of the five best offensive lines. It's
not the top ten. It is somewhere in the middle

(22:53):
of the pack, probably below, you know, the middle of
the pack a little bit. That way, they're gonna have
to continue to win games with the offenses out of
the ball, and I think they're gonna have to continue
to win it with throwing the football and Andy Dalton.
That's the strength of their team. I mean, when you
really look at it right now, the best thing they
got is those wide receivers and Andy Dalton and Ezekiel Elliott,

(23:13):
you know, getting the ball in his hands, running and
catching it. Whatever. But I don't think a whole lot
is gonna change as far as like the style of play,
or they're gonna find a new way or reinvent themselves. No,
I think we're seeing what they are. It's just hopefully
they can do it a little bit better than what
they've done so far. Doug gotlip show, you're on fox
Board Trader that that's the voice of Chris Sims, who

(23:35):
joins us, Um, how did it go so wrong so quickly?
For the Packers? They they're up to nothing, they got
the football back, the Buccaneers aren't doing much, and then
all of the sudden, all of a sudden, it felt
like Aaron Rodgers. I'm obviously it gets sat on the route,
but it just kind of felt like he just kind
of flung it out there, assuming Davante Adams was gonna

(23:56):
be open, catch it first down, a little get arrogance
in that throw, and all of a sudden it was
a house of cards that told out how did that happen? Yeah, well,
it is interesting. I think you explained the interception pretty
much the right way, you know. And Davante Adams not
a huge speed guy either, and the kid there, um,
I'm banking on his name and Winter stepped in the
past there. But either way he can fly. I'll get

(24:18):
to that name in a second, but either way, he
can really run, and he didn't. He never at any point,
you know, showed that he was gonna move back or
move away from his position, and Rogers did. Rogers should
have thrown the fastball there, and he kind of just
threw it out there. I think thinking he was gonna
back off and he would have that completion. But I
think where the game is misleading. Yes, it's end nothing, certainly,

(24:40):
But the first two drives, Doug, Like when I watched
back on film, you know, on TV, I looked at it.
You know, Green Day looks good, right, oh yeah, here
we go. But really the first two drives there was
really nobody opened and it didn't look good. When I
turned on the coaches film, it was Rogers got out
of the pocket a few times and hit a few crossers.
They caught can Tampa Bay in a blitz another time

(25:01):
and hit a little shallow cross it got a first down.
So it was work and it was Rogers making plays
Green Bay. Doug is built to play from the front,
from the lead. They don't have the great defense and
they want to jump out in front of you. Now
have the ability to run with Aaron Jones. They know
Rogers will make a few plays and take care of

(25:21):
the ball, and then that allows their pass rush to
tee off on you. And they got some good corners
in the secondary where they can be a little creative
back there. But when they get into a real dog
fight against a team that's, okay, we're balanced and we
could play. You could see they're physically outmatched and it
takes away, you know, some of the Rogers magic, but

(25:42):
they can't stop the run and that becomes an issue,
and then that leads to big passes down the field.
But I'll say what I think I said to you
last week. It's not perfect yet, but the Bucks are
trending upward in a big way. And when I look
at them and they're still getting better, They're in this,
you know, one of the most complete teams in the

(26:04):
NFC conversation for me already, and the offense isn't even
there all the way. Yet they did that to the
Packers without a healthy Mike Evans or Chris Godwins who
were playing injured the other day. I mean, that was
very impressive, and I just still say watch out for
the Buck. Okay, let's let's let's get to some of
the other things going around the National Football League. What

(26:24):
the heck happened to the New England Patriots. Oh well,
it's just too many moving parts, too little practice, and
they made too many mistakes. There's a lot to like,
you know, I I watched the game on film this morning, Doug.
I mean, they wasn't like this is where you could
take the positive you can go. It wasn't like they
were physically dominated or anything like that. But you know

(26:47):
you're in field goal range and somebody snaps the ball
over Cam Newton's head. They hit a big pass down
the middle to the tight end is oh, right into
field goal range. He fumbled and he's going to the ground.
Uh the tip pass interception. You know, just a little
off on things like that to where Yeah, I think
no practice and Cam Newton having played football in three weeks.

(27:09):
It came back to bite them in the butt, and
they made mistakes that we usually don't see them really make.
I think that's the biggest thing. They let up a
few big plays on defense early on in the game.
But you know, I will say this, I'm not panicked
by the loss, not to say I'm sitting here they're
gonna run the table, but we're a patchwork offensive line.

(27:30):
They had to move people around. I still think what
they got as far as their core pieces, Cam Newton,
that offensive line and that secondary that they're still gonna
be a player in the a f C. They just
got caught on a bad day and made some stupid
mistakes that we don't usually see the Patriots make. What
happened to Kirk Cousins, Well, you know, they're they're just

(27:51):
one of those teams that you know a little like
you saw Jared Goff on Sunday night, and maybe not
quite to this extent, but when they can't run the ball,
their drop back pass game just can't carry their football team.
That's the big problem. Schematically. It can be a little
underwhelming that way. And you know, Kirk Cousins is a
guy that really benefits from being a guy with like

(28:12):
McVeigh or Shanahan. That's why they loved him, because he
can process nine million different plays and knows all the
information and he'll dissect you with a good decision and
a smart throw. Minnesota doesn't play that way, you know,
it doesn't really fit Kirk Cousins that way. It doesn't
really take advantage of all that he has to offer.
He's not the kind of guy that you just want
to go, Hey, sit back there, throw lasers all over

(28:34):
the field. There's nobody's open. You'll just move around to
make a play. Now, that's not who he is. He
needs a little system to really bring out his greatness.
And that's why they're a little hit and miss at
some sometimes on the offensive side of the ball. Chris
Sim's joining us a Football Night in America. Analystis Doug
Otlive show here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, all right,
what what what's your sense of Jimmy g and uh

(28:56):
and and how he's playing and how he's doing with
Kylie in hand. Yeah, well it was certainly, you know,
better this week than last week, right, I mean, he
obviously was out there last week against the Dolphins, not healthy,
couldn't push off. We talked about it a little. I
believe that ball was fluttering all over the place. He
couldn't move in the pocket. Hey, this was a this
was a Shanahan special the other night. I mean it

(29:17):
really was the first drive of the game. I mean,
he he, I believe, goes four for five or five
or five with completions. Four of the passes are five
yards behind the line of scrimmage. So he got done
with the first rock going. Oh and I was five
for five for sixty nine yards. Didn't even throw a ball,
you know. So that's that was great Shanahan game planning

(29:38):
and everything like that to get Jimmy g feeling good,
positive vibes. Okay, get back in the flow of the game.
And as it went on, he made a few throws
that a court helped them move the ball down the field.
They're getting healthy on the offensive side of the ball.
With Deebo Samuel back with I. You can kindle that's special.
It stinks that mostart out, but I'm not giving up

(30:00):
these forty yet. I'm not. You know, if they can
get some of another corner healthy opposite of Jason Barrette.
They still got a lot of big athletic people up front.
And not to say they're gonna be a number one
seed team here or anything like that, but I think
the forty niners are still a playoff caliber team even
though they're sitting here at three and three. Two is
going to get to start after the after the bye week. Uh,

(30:21):
They're coming off a dominating performance. Granted it was over
the Jets. What do you think of the Dolphins and
they're the timing of their decision, Well, I think they
had to do it, you know, and and and this
is why, because well, what are the Dolphins are getting
it together? They're playing pretty good football. What Were they
gonna wait until they were, you know, eight and four
and in the playoff hunt and then make the switch, right,

(30:41):
or were they just gonna let the season play out
and go, damn, we stuck in the playoffs. Are we
really gonna like just ben Shrine Fitzpatrick and go to
two and next year? I think that's probably what they
were worried about, that they were getting into a situation
where well, everybody's just said, well, leave Fitzpatrick again, let's
just keep going. So I I think the time is right.
They're not worried about this year. They know they're not

(31:03):
gonna win the Super Bowl. But man, I mean they
killed the off season. You're seeing some of those free
agents and some of those draft picks really pop for
their football team. I mean the Dolphins that everything last
year for what a rebuild team should do. Should's like
it's textbook that. I mean, that's what teams should do.
If you're the Falcons and you're looking to rebuild or

(31:23):
any other team like that. You know, the Miami Dolphins
put the outline out there, but man, good old line.
D line pops a lot great corners. You see two good,
really good wide receivers. You know, and now let's see
if two can go in there and run the show
and be the guy they hope he can pick awesome stuff.

two thousand, twenty Dan Fire what's the game today, Doug?
The game today is alright, Grank. What you think the
NFC ET standings will be at the end of the season.
M uh, I'm gonna go Eagles in first place, Cowboys

(32:52):
in second place, Giants in third place, in the Washington
football team in port place. Alright, Cowboys have Washington in
coming up in Week seven. As a DUB rank your time. Honestly,
the the Week one game for the Eagles may end
up maybe I maybe prove me wrong and that may
be the difference. Yeah. Yeah, that was the shocker of

(33:15):
of all shockers. And now yeah, we'll leave it at that.
Rank Your top three teams in the NFL through Week
six of the NFL season three, I'm Beaten's Seahawks, Steelers
and Titans. Titans and Steelers playing in week seven, by
the way, Okay, I'm gonna go playing each other. Yeah,

(33:39):
I said Chiefs on TV with Cowherd, and I don't
think I'm right. I'm gonna go Steelers one, Chiefs two,
Titans three, which is interesting because then the in the
a f C stink and the NFC is good and
and sure looks like we missed that one too, Doug
World series starts tonight. Rank your three more memorable world

(34:01):
series of your life. Any world series that stick out
for certain reasons? Um, d thousands? Do the Angels in
the World Series, Kirk Gibson home run the other one?
Mm hmm. I would say, uh, well for with the

(34:22):
game seven Twins Braves, Jack Morris going ten innings and
I'm not gonna know that one. I mean, I know
what happened, I don't remember it. Um, I I don't. Oh.
I know when the Cardinals won the World Series. My
boy Holiday was in it when they when they beat
the Rangers, they were down and last strike twice. David Freeze,
David Freeze, hero the hometown Kid, not where. Rank your

(34:47):
three likeliest outcomes in the world series. Bet Online gave
a variety of options. The odds on favorite would be
Dodgers in six games. But what do you think that
would my most likely Dodgers and six Dodgers and seven
Raisin seven. Those are my Raisin seven the third most likely,
Dodgers in seven second most likely, and Dodgers in sixth

(35:09):
of most likely. You like the extension be on? Bet
Online likes the Dodgers basically in all of them. It's
four Dodgers in six games, the most likeliest than Dodgers
and five Dodgers and seven, then Raises seven, and then
the Dodgers sweep. I don't even think they have odds
for a Raise sweep. Finally, dug story that uh mentioned

(35:30):
about twenty minutes ago. Bubba Wallace. We know that he's
gonna be driving for the new team that's founded by
Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, and we now know that
they've filed for trademarks and that Bubba will be driving
the number twenty three cars Nascar wise, car wise, Rake,
your top three best numbers to drive in NASCAR? What

(35:53):
looks the coolest? Maybe, what what resonates the most? You've
got the I mean, I know what number one is,
so I would say, uh, I would say ninety nine
is third. Bill Elliott was nine right now he's like
Bill Elliott now. And then forty three is where he

(36:14):
used to drive, right that's the king. I thought maybe three,
with Earnhardt being in there, even even the deuce, you know,
the two Rusty Wallace Kurt Bush drover for a while.
I mean like, look, I'm not I'm not being morbid.
It's a real story. I would have trouble. First of all, Dalhart,
you know, I'm like legendary, mythical sort of, but he

(36:35):
also like died on the course in daytone. I'm not
sure I want drive that car, that that number. Yeah,
that's it. This is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show.
I am really excited about today and um, I'll tell

(36:55):
in in an hour, I'll tell you why there's one
guy you should absolutely be rooting for, even if you
have no no affinity for his team, no offfinity for
his team. But coming up next, Uh, it is to
a time in Miami. Too soon, too late? Is it?
Is it Fomo from the Dolphins. You know all the
other rookie quarterbacks are playing. Why why why can't our guy?

(37:17):
I'll tell you next in the Doug Gotlip Show, Fox
