(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh five second air guitar.
Let's get it going. Let's see. I was gonna saying
away for a couple of days. Bill Belichick still hates
the song. Yeah, where the hell you've been? You grew
out your hair. I've been here, you got a zz
top beard. Look, I've just been here. Maheim still sucks.
And here we are. Got in very early for the show,

(00:46):
so early that I got to do Dan Patrick the
last couple of days and you were not in, so
I had left. I didn't know what the memo what
I mean, what are you gonna do on the memo?
I mean you were on the memo. I'd like to
see a copy of said you were on the memo.
I think I got deleted. How are things in absentio?
While I was while I was away. Well, we got
to talk about Duke. I buried him. Dan was in

(01:07):
for you, Dan buyre my my Sunday partner from Fox
Sports Sunday. We watched Duke. We both buried him, and
then Louisville puckered up, stopped playing, couldn't break a press,
and all of a sudden you got coach k and
Zion Williamson. The legend grow Nicks, Nicks, Nicks, Nicks, Nicks,
Nicks gotten fourteen is a magic number, fourteen percent chance

(01:28):
and Nick, if they get the number one, We're gonna
put up a little toweboard up here in the Geico studios.
There's no question about it. But the Lakers losing to
the Hawks, I mean, sky is falling. Radio Papa John
and he was in Kentucky gear Kentucky gets jobbed. I mean,
there was a lot going on. So it was good
to hear you on My My Morning Drive. And uh,

(01:49):
I thought about calling in and berating you, well some
some of the hot take nonsense, so I just have
to wear it tonight. I got enough of that on
Twitter from liking the Joe Flacco trade and who Michael
Jordan would be if he was playing the NBA today.
I got a lot of that today. I mean, my
buddy Jerry Harriston came at your hard. I'm not saying
I was Jay Glazer upset on Twitter. I wasn't that upset,

(02:09):
but I would have liked to see you go, Jay
Glazer upset. Yes, the big story today the Ravens trading
Joe Flacco to the Broncos. Jason lockinfora is gonna stop
buying about fifteen minutes with us for all the latest
on that. But a couple of big stories in the NBA,
none bigger than what happened just a few minutes ago.
You know, I looked at the box score in the

(02:30):
first half of when I was in the car on
the way in, and I said, oh, Harden's only got ten.
Is this gonna be at night where he struggles to
get to thirty? Uh? The short answer is no. Hardon
left side angle with twenty seven points, Beard straight away
looking for thirty, He's found, it goes and it's out.
Thirty one consecutive games of thirty points for James Harden

(02:56):
and more importantly on four point opportunity. It's not more important.
That's really not come out don't lie Rockets Radio Network. Importantly,
it's come on. The guy's grinning ear to ear when
he hits a three, you know, up seven to get
him to thirty at the end of the game. It's
really not more important. It should be. It's a four
point play. But more importantly, thirty one straight games or

(03:18):
James Harden with over thirty points midway through the fourth quarter,
Hardened right now at thirty three, this game not going
the Rockets way, however, the Timberwolves with a six point lead,
but again still a lot of time left here. Harden
having a very typical James Harden night. He is twelve
or twenty eight from the floor and five out of
sixteen from three points, only four free throw attempts last,
so going about it a little bit differently tonight, not

(03:42):
getting the the support of his teammates as a team,
they're shooting just for freed with ten Chris Paul four
of eleven, thirteen points on the night. You know you're
getting balanced, but nobody really stepping forward. The shooting percentage
off and the tea Wolves rising up, but James Harden
Street continue. Yeah, if the only you'd laid down a bet,

(04:03):
but you didn't. If I had, you did not go
and seek out that way after the first time he hit,
after the street got to like eight games. If I
had gone to Vegas and said, here's all my money,
the odds he's at thirty points the next day, obviously
the odds are going to decrease because what you were
going to get for James Harden for a thirty point
games because he's scoring thirty every night. But if you

(04:23):
bet all this money and you keep invest everything you're making,
you bet every night, James Harden gets the thirty, James
Harden gets thirty, James Harden gets to thirty, you you
would be absolutely, so incredibly rich right now. And you
would have well, if you started with a five dollar bet.
I think we figured it out two weeks ago that
if you've made a five dollar bet and you kept

(04:45):
betting all your winnings every night, you would be at
somewhere around six grand. And now I have to go
back and do the math. The odds, the odds in
the last couple of weeks would have gone down a
bit because you know, well, obviously being getting the thirty,
you know three games, we're gonna say, Okay, the guy's
gonna get there, So the odds are not gonna be
as long as they well, but you're still you're still
well over a million dollars, well, probably a two million.

(05:07):
If you're at six hundre grand two weeks ago, he's
had about five games since then, you would probably be
if you're betting six grand on the winnings and then
you're getting the like eight hundred grand or even nine,
you would be you would be over two million dollars
just betting on James Harden getting to thirty points. Yeah,
just keep it rolling, no question. Well, I mean, look,
we're talking about volume shooting and the way James Harden

(05:30):
has gone about this streak, and obviously you look at
the way their team was constructed. You still don't have Capella.
I think the Freed acquisition is going to be underrated
and will benefit them immensely once we get towards playoff time.
But we're not there yet. Right now, we're just celebrating
what what the guy has done is basically carrying the
piano up the stairs on his back by himself. Okay,

(05:51):
that that's really where we're at. Because even Chris Paul,
he's been back a week, he's no set. He's a
shell of what he normally is. He's still working himself
back in the game shape. So it's still the James
Harden Show, night in, night out. They'll take some lumps
along the way, but it's it's a fun ride and
one of the great stories for the NBA. Right we
had all the trade deadline stuff, whether you liked it

(06:11):
or got tired of it, that that owned super Bowl
week and the week right after the chance like what's
normally media week and just random stories coming out of
super Bowl Nope, NBA following NBA. James Harden keeps that
going right streaks are good for business. Now, I got
one more for you here that Jason spe with Mike

(06:31):
Carmen live from the Geico Studios where fifteen minutes can
save you fifteen percent of more in car insurance. For
more information, visit Geico dot com. Is that with the
Jordan's story from the last twenty four hours. That's Michael
Jordan's having a press conference because you know, Michael Jordan
just wanted to have a press conference. Game they're hosting
the All Star Game. Talk to people now they're hosting it,

(06:52):
so it makes sense and you know, people are talking
too much about Harden and Westbrook, and I want to
remind everybody that I was the best player in the NBA.
Uh he to think that guy that asked it was
a plant. Come on, and then you're gonna ask this. Uh.
Jordan has asked yesterday about the streaks that Russell Westbrook
and James Harden are having. Harden at ten straight games
with triple doubles and uh, sorry sorry, Westbrook at ten

(07:14):
straight games with triple double and Harden at thirty games
now with thirty or more points. And he said, it's great.
It's great what they're doing. But you know, it's most
impressive his six rings all right at six right, you know, saying, hey,
this is great. Remember I went six for six, I
went three for three. I took two years off to
play for the White Sox. I went three more and
then I was no it forgets. Those years are the
Wizards at the end, you didn't really go anything for
anything or the other years before we he didn't win,

(07:36):
but it was okay, he's taken the I have to
get to the finals and win is the only thing.
Getting to the finals and losing is like not even
making the playoffs. That's what Jordans did. He convinced everybody
that getting to the finals and losing is really doesn't
mean anything but not a bad trick. If you could
ride that out. I mean, that's that's a pretty good run.
I mean, we we don't lose. I like, well, I
mean that's the goat argument everybody makes for Joe Montana.

(07:58):
So it works in both sports, right, I mean, that's
just the way it's done. But the thing is now,
and this is the ironic part of it. And this
is what I got a lot of hate on Twitter
force because everybody's saying the same thing, which, oh my god,
I want to bang my head against the wall. But
that's okay. If Jordan was playing now, who would he be? Right?
If Jordan was playing, you took Michael Jordan's and you

(08:20):
plopped him in today's NBA, who would he be? The
answer is he would be James Harden. Offensively, he would
be James offense. Don't come at me with that's ridiculous
because Jordan was First Team All Defense. Yes, Jordan was
a phenomenal defensive player. We're not talking about defense. When
James Harden scores thirty points in thirty more games. We're

(08:41):
not talking about James Harden's defense. Defense does not sell
radio tickets. No one listens to the radio to hear
you talk about defense. I just want to say that
we're talking about obviously hardened playing. But Ben Wallace more
than I do know, and that Afro was great. He's
a legend, I mean, all offensive team. And then and
that's the hard part, right because when you're starting to

(09:04):
compare it and you just have to keep qualifying it
on the offensive end, yes, because that's what you think.
You don't say, we're not thinking about but if you're
talking about if you're talking about the total player, like
when you say who's better? Is Kevin Durant better? Or
is Lebron James better, you're never talking about defense. You're talking, well,
who's a better scorer, who's a better rebounder, who's a
better Kevin Durant? But but that but that's the thing

(09:28):
that you realize when these arguments come up. No one
ever says yet, but don't forget defensively, No, that doesn't happen.
When you say who's the better player, is it Cody Bellinger,
Aaron Judge? No one says, but but you know Bellinger
defensively can play. No, we we're talking about hitting. That's
that's the main thing. I like the qualifiers because you know,
being the the Chicago guy, I gotta I gotta get puffy,
and I have to ask the questions are we talking

(09:50):
all around? What are we what are we doing here?
Here's why Harden would be Jordan's is because think about
Jordan's Game one and it's very so I'm not saying
Jordan would be look hard the scoring thirty game. This
is something Jordan never did. Oh, by the way, Michael
Jordans never did this. But what was Jordan's big thing.

(10:11):
He liked to get one on one, back down defenders
and either get to the hoop or hit that fade
away right. His big trademark was hit in that fade
away jumper right. That's what he liked to do. And
you could do that in the NBA back then because
of the way the defensive rules were. He was very
rarely doubled because you get called for a legal defense.
It was hard to switch. You see, he'd be one
on one with guys and he was impossible one on one.

(10:32):
But nowadays in the NBA you see them with the
with the different ways the teams play defense. There's a
lot more sagging and a lot more help dy and
the players are more athletic. So if you take a
really athletic Michael Jordan, who, let's face it, when he played,
the guys weren't nearly athletic as they were now. But
but but they beat the hell out of each other
and it was more physical and you didn't have the
possession possession per minute you right, you had in the

(10:54):
late eighties or mid to late eighties where it was
still a fast paced Denver Nuggets running up down, and
then you got into the let's beat the hell out
of each other years. So when he went thirty seven
one and thirty five, that was those were outline. I mean,
those were a big deal because of the scoring average,
whereas now you've got a lot of guys that are
that are suspect, that put up fifty point nights every

(11:16):
now and again. I mean, yeah, but but still it would.
What what it means is, it doesn't mean suddenly because
when I say that, oh, you scoring twenty points, no,
James Harden scores thirty some on points to night. What
it means is is that that big move that he
would have his field goal percentage would go down a
little bit because more shots would be contested and it
would be a little bit harder. Now on Jordan's end,

(11:37):
he would shoot more threes because now the game has
completely gone to he you have to be able to
shoot threes and not like he didn't shoot threes, but
not like the way the big players do today, I
mean chewing game. So his his shooting percentage would go down,
but he would hit a few more a few more threes,
and he would take So if you realize that that's
what Jordan would be on and everything else the same.

(11:59):
Jordan's fade way is like Harden step back, all right.
That that's the that's the same thing. It's the same shot.
It does the same things, except Jordan's fade away was
usually a deuce, and James Harden will do that step
back fade away from three. So if you're if you're saying,
if you're realizing agreeing with me, that that would cancel
each other out, and that Jordan would shoot and hit
more threes, but his field goal percentage would go down. Uh,

(12:21):
that's James Harden. I mean, Jordan would still be a
volume shooter. He would still get he would he would
you know, James Harden still is a guy that passed
passes a lot, you know, still winds up dishing the
ball out. They would kind of have the same type
of impact on the game. And Jordan's obviously defensively, would
be a much better player. But we're talking about what
James Harden is doing. What kind of player Jordan would be.

(12:42):
They be very similar, even though it's a little bit
slightly different styles. Their impact on the game, what they
do offensively would be very similar to where they are.
He would be James Harden if he played in the NBA.
Now we would be interesting to see, is the development
of the game right. We always try to do the
comparison between generations, and in this one, you know, Jordan's
for his career, as much as folks might have said

(13:03):
he was always at the free throw line. He averaged
eight three free throws a game for his career, not
nearly the James Harden I'm living at the line process
that we have. I mean, we talk about the three
point attempts, fewer than two per game for his career.
For Jordan, the assistant rebounds are awash. Although Jordan in
big spots passed more frequently than hard never will you know. Yeah,

(13:25):
I mean because Jordan, like three out of every four
big shots George would take, but he would give you
that one pass. He would go, all right, now, we
can't let you gotta the next couple of times you're
you're off them a little bit more, and then he
takes two shots. He had a great feel for that.
He knew when to pass the ball to horrors grant,
you know, and he knew when I gotta take this myself.
You know, he has packs and here's you know, I mean,

(13:45):
all those iconic passing attempts and the big shots that
helped make those careers. Yeah, I think that's if you
were just going offensively. It's apt problem is, you know,
Jordan's still played at that offensive level while playing on
the other end of the I know, I know, I know.
I mean, that's a big deal that I get it.
But we're talking about thet we're talking I get, but

(14:07):
Harden's tripping over his tongue just from playing offense. Alright,
we don't talk about how good Patrick Beverley is, even
though one of the best defenders we did it. We
never once when he shut down Lonzo. That was good
one time we celebrated him. Just now Twitter, and how
about a fresco Mike has swollen down The Jason Smith

(15:36):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
and the Big Story the day. Of course, the Baltimore
Ravens have an agreement to trade at Joe Flacco to
the Denver Broncos. The deal can't be made official until
the new league here starts on March thirteenth, but all
reports are it will be for a mid round pick.
Potentially a fourth round pick will go from the Broncos

(15:58):
to the Baltimore Ravens. No one better talk about that
right now than joining us from Baltimore. CBS Sports NFL
Insider who was actually getting ready to take a sabbatical
from CBS in the NFL to go cover Tim Tebow's
year with the Syracuse Mets. So excited. It's Jason locking
for a Jay. What's happening, dude? Hey, what's going on?

(16:20):
I actually covered him? Uh? I went up to was
it Hagerstown, Maryland, when he was in the South Atlantic
League with I don't know if it was the some
kind of bug. Was the team's fireflies the firefly Yeah, yeah, yeah,
And it was a total s show up there. I mean,

(16:42):
people waiting for the bus and everything. It was pretty amazing.
And then we were supposed to see him in the
Eastern League last year, but I feel like he got
hurt before we were before. Yeah, he got hurt before
they came to Bouie. The Orioles double a team here
in Maryland where where we go to a ton of games.
So I am very fired up for the start of

(17:02):
baseball season, and mostly from minor league baseball season, because
the Orioles are gonna lose a hundred games. Again, you're
gonna say mostly minor league baseball because I'm going to
see the Orioles player. Yeah, and then it will be
the equivalent of four eight ball when I go to
cama Yrts starting in right field Jason lockanfora not that
bad thanks, thank god. It will never be that bad,
all right. So what do you make of the results

(17:24):
of this trade today? I like the fact that Broncos
went out and got Flacco just because I don't know
who else they would have gone out to get it
was better than Flacco if they wanted to improve the
quarterback spot. I don't know that Flacco is better than
Keenom though, you know. I mean that's I think ultimately
what it comes down to, and how much better at
this point in his career, And specifically when you look
at the war to that team, which is the offensive

(17:46):
line um, not a lot of outside receivers who are
going to win. You know, Emmanuel Sanders will winning the slot,
but not not a tight end really to to speak of,
or a stretch the field tight end, and and nobody
on the outside. And Lacco when when he's been good,
it's been because he does have a cast around him
and it's not there. And he's been hurt the better

(18:08):
part of three seasons now. And nobody in the NFL
has thrown more road interceptions than Joe Flacco since the
Ravens won that Super Bowl. And I don't know, man,
I think they kind of probably need a moving pocket,
and yeah, they can run the ball a little bit,
but if this is who they are offensively, I'm not
sure that they're gonna be able to protect well enough
for Flacco to have five and seven step drops and

(18:28):
beat people with play action and all that stuff. Um,
you know, he's basically making the same money as Keenum.
But the problem is the stuck with both of them.
And I don't think they're gonna be able to trade
keenom because he's got seven million guaranteed on that contract.
It's still a lot of money, and everybody knows he's
gonna get cut. Um. If I was Denver, I mean,
what's the harm in letting this play out a little

(18:49):
bit and seeing if you can get him cheaper or
just force the Raven's hand, Because just like Denver's situation
with Keenum, they're not going to keep Joe Flacco around
when they have to be out compliant. The middle of March,
they had to cut him, and from what I gathered,
nobody else was often more than maybe a six or seven,
and they just worked that many teams that need a quarterback.
So at the end of the day, guys, I think

(19:11):
Denver is still taking Drew Lock in the first round.
I just don't think he's playing this year. He's probably
playing next year. But John always track record with quarterbacks,
I don't believe will look better after this transaction. There
you go rolling the dice one more time. The lock
tweet gets out about how much he loves him, and
everything flows from there. I like Courtland and Sutton, but

(19:33):
he's just a guy. Everybody else is hurt. So a
lot to rebuild there in Denver. All right, So earlier
this week, look, the NFL finally rose up. Right, it
was the NBA's time during Super Bowl week, and all
of a sudden we got trade talk and signings. So
let's start with Kareem Hunt going to the Cleveland Browns.
They already have Chubb, they have Duke Johnson, and you

(19:54):
bring in Hunt on a minimal deal. Uh, sound investment,
But the time, I mean curious from where I sit. Yeah,
I mean, look, they basically have his rights for four years.
They've got him this year on a dirt cheap, one year,
one million dollar deal, and that if he hits all
his incentives, then you've got him as a restricted free
agent the year after that, and then you've got him

(20:14):
on potentially to franchise tags if you wanted to go
that route. So if and Chubb's a guy who had
his injury issues in college. So and Freddy Kitchens Todd Mounkin,
very innovative offensive minds on that staff. You've got a
quarterback who's tremendously well versed in the air raid and
RPO concepts and mesh points and doing cute stuff at

(20:36):
the line of scrimmage. And imagine Kareem Hunt in the
same backfield with Nick Chubb on a handful of plays,
or Kareem Hunt the Duke Johnson in the same backfield.
They don't have a lot of guys who went on
the outside just yet. We'll have to see what Callaway becomes.
Obviously Jarvis Landry in the slot, and Joe who's an
emerging tight end. They've got a solid offensive line. This

(20:57):
is this is John Dorsey buying low on an individual
who he's known since he was an underclassman at Toledo
and since you know he's first got on the chief
scouting radar. So I'm not surprised. Dorsey is the ultimate
gambler when it comes to character risks, and this was
a bylow probability. I don't know that Kareem Hunt spends

(21:17):
multiple seasons there. Heck, they could trade him in season
before this year's trade deadline. Remember a year ago he
signs Carlos Hide, then he drafts Chubb, and he's able
to flip Hide for a decent pick to Jacksonville when
Jacksonville's and dire straits um with for Nette being down
in season. So I get it. And if you know
the young man stays out of trouble and doesn't have

(21:39):
an incident like this again, you might be able to
flip him for a whole lot more than what it
took you to sign him. Jason Locke and for a
CBS Sports NFL Insider with Us at Jason Smith Show
with Mike Carmen, Fox Sports Radio. All Right, Jay, you
ever see one of those movies where where the main
character keeps having this vision and he tells people about
it and everybody goes, yeah, I don't know, you might
be crazy, because no, I keep seeing these things. I

(22:00):
gonna tell you about a vision. I keep having you
tell me if this is gonna come true? All right?
I see the press conference. I see them standing behind
in front of the logo, and I see Antonio Brown
and Levy on Bell holding up twenty and eighty four
Jets Jerseys smiling for the camera and they're saying, Hey,
the hundred million the Jets at they spend it all
on us. Tell me if that is going to be

(22:20):
a vision that comes true. I think the Lean Bell
portion ultimately comes true. The problem is you're gonna have
to trade for both of those guys, and you know,
the Stewards are gonna put that transition tag on Levan Bells.
I reported to the Super Bowl that's not going to change,
and they're gonna you know, they're not giving Antonio Brown away.
I don't know if they'll have the draft capital to

(22:41):
pull all that off. And I also think that when they,
you know, they're assessing their their roster, they've kind of
really decent group of young, cheap tight ends. And I mean,
I'm sorry, I have wide receivers and I don't know
that Antonio Brown inserting him into that group right now.
Robby Anderson has been kind of volatile at times, who
I don't know that, and you know, Sam Donald, I

(23:03):
young quarterback. I'm not sure they go that route. I'd
be surprised. And also, the Stewards don't want to trade
Antonio Brown in the a f C if they don't
have to, but I don't think they're gonna have to.
I think you've got the Saints, the Eagles, maybe the Bears,
maybe the Packers, Seahawks. There's any number of teams who
Antonio Brown could maybe put over the top in the
opposite conference. Um, but I do think it Jets come

(23:25):
away with one of those two. I like that. Alright, alright,
goe alright one. And we saw a series of tweets,
Uh insider for Fox Ja Glazer putting out the potential
of Odell Beckham Jr. Being traded. O'Dell on Twitter puts
up the emoji of the zippered lips and then like

(23:46):
that smiling cheeks blushing. What do you make of that? Jay?
Anything there? There's something can happen there. I mean Wayne
Gretzky got traded twice, right sopoting anything could happen. Um.
I reported in season last year that that there was
a group of Giants receivers who felt like this was

(24:07):
diminishing returns with Eli, that he's throwing a lot of
medicine balls, that he can't even throw a screen pass
without dudes having to leave their feet and be you know,
vulnerable to kill shots, and that they were looking to
see other options there. And it doesn't mean that they
don't draft a quarterback sixth overall, and and he beats
Eli out and away we go. And I think Haskins

(24:28):
will very much be on their radar. Um. I mean,
could it happen, Yeah, I don't think it will at
the end of the day. That's a team that still
seems to be in a motive we think we can
win something right now. You're gonna get draft picks for
Beckham and all likelihood not players to help you right now.

(24:49):
And I think if you are bleeding a younger quarterback
in then why are you going to start taking away
assets from him? So I think they draft a quarterback
at six. I think that or back beats Eli out
in the early part of the season, kind of like
Eli once took over for a Kurt Warner. And I
think they want to have as many weapons on offense
as possible. All right, Lastly, Jason we we saw earlier

(25:11):
today charges g M Tom Salasco saying that, hey, he
sees the a F the New Alliance of American Football,
as a feeder league towards the NFL. Now, I know
the big A F and you are you do a
F fantasy? You actually you run your own league. Can't
get enough you give fantasy tips all throughout the week
on Twitter. I know how you are on it. Do
you see that eventually that's what happens. The a F

(25:32):
is here and people like enough of it that it
becomes a true NFL minor league. I think it could
reach a point where league the league, you know, four teams,
it gets to be an eight team whatever it is now,
maybe it multiplies to sixteen teams and every NFL team
sends you know, four eight players from its January futures

(25:53):
contracts or from last year's practice squad or whatever to
a particular team, and it works sort of like affiliate
to doing in league hockey or split affiliates. But I
still think in all likelihood it's rounding up the back
end of rosters and not really the top end of rosters.
I think they may be able to help develop and
cultivate and incubate guys who play special teams who are

(26:16):
back up, you know, good backups, but backups here or there.
I don't know that it's going to have the star
power to make it economically unless it, you know, unless
somehow they are finding um guys who become star quarterbacks
are guys who were star quarterbacks in college. I'm more
intrigued about this Pacific Pro League that's set to start

(26:39):
UM in June July, because they're going right after the
n c a A and they're going after the best
eighteen nine year old football players in America and saying,
come here, we'll pay you a legitimate salary. You'll own
your marketing and merchandising rights from the guinea up. You
can sell your likeness, you can you can have people
pay you for autographs. You can do all stuff that

(27:00):
you know, do with commercials, do all the stuff that
UM professional athletes do. Will give you money towards tuition,
will pay for your books, will cover your insurance, and
every single every single practice we have in the spring
will be like a Senior Bowl. Every single day. The
NFL would be invited their GM scouts everybody else to
check you out all through the week and then be
their own game day as well. I wonder if if

(27:23):
that's the model that works. The way the World Hockey
Association wants to challenge the NFL, the way that Joe
Namath once said, I'm going to go, you know, apply
my trade in the a f L instead of the NFL.
We've seen that model make things happen and short of
sort of rattle the status quo and other sports, and
I think that league has the potential to do it

(27:46):
much more than the Alliance does or the XFL does.
You can follow on Twitter at Jason lock and for

Great stuff there from Jason lock and Forward. We got

rain there Friday as well. We'll be back to the
show in ten seconds. But first snow word from farming.
From a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a
dog taking a joy ride, We've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers. Under written my Farmers

(30:20):
truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state.
The Big NBA story James Harden forty two points in
forty minutes. Rockets lose at Minnesota guy. Inspec to you,
thank you s D. Thanks to Jason lock and for
stop and by talking all things NFL with us, including
the big trade of the day, Joe Flacco to the Broncos.
I like to trade more than many people do. Honestly,

(30:42):
I was surprised at the lack of critics, at the
amount of criticism for this trade. For a couple of reasons.
For the Broncos. One, you saw a Case keenom isn't
the guy all right? He couldn't get it done. This
team is built around success in the running game and
a really good defense. You have a defensive minded head
coach who is going to be the head coach of
the defense and needs a veteran type quarterback that still

(31:04):
has a lot left in the tank to come in
and and kind of take care of things. That's what
Vic Fangio needs. Joe Flacco is still playing at a
decent enough level. Is he playing at the highest of
high levels? No? Is he in the middle of the
pack quarterback? Yeah, but Case Keen wasn't even the middle
of the pack quarterback. He had a moment in time
with the Vikings and that was what it was. Joe
Flacco was someone that has more of a track record,

(31:25):
that is still someone who can move the football, move
the team down, and throw for a ton of yards.
Playing in Denver, he's gonna get more zip on that football.
That was the thing about Peyton Manning signing with Denver
is that when they played at home, because of the
thin air, he got at least ten yards more on
his deep passes. Because of he's playing in that situation,

(31:45):
Flacco is gonna get ten more yards on his passes.
He's got deep and fast receivers that he can throw
the ball ten miles too. That's kind of what Flacco
is is predicated on. So when you look at that,
you know, okay, well that's a good move, But what
about the other quarterbacks? Who else you're gonna get. I'm
telling you Derek Carr is gonna get traded, but the
Raiders are gonna trade Derek Carter the Broncos. So now, okay,

(32:06):
that's out. Is nick Foles really the solution because you
just just did the same thing you traded for Nick
Foles last ye when you traded for case Keenum. So
who else was out there? Are you picking high enough
to get a franchise quarterback? In the draft. No, are
you gonna mortgage your future to move up to get
Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins. Probably not. So when all
the dust settles and you realize those are the quarterbacks
that are out there, you go, oh, well, what else

(32:27):
were they gonna do? I mean quite on. Did they
overpay a little bit? Yeah, but you overpaid with a
fourth round pick. You didn't give a second round pick,
and you have a first round he probably a fourth
round pick that's a guy you're hoping shows up and
can contribute. You can sign a guy off the street
that's the same thing as your fourth round pick and
can play special teams. So when it comes when you
when you throw all those ingredients in, you realize, oh,
well Flacco kind of made sense. Oh not, Now I

(32:49):
get it. And you know you said from the beginning
you thought Flacka was gonna be a Bronco. I thought
he'd end up there. I was curious to see how
they would handle case Keenum, just for the fact that
he was still almost at yard thrower with really no
wide receivers that stayed healthy. Right, Sanders was on the
shelf they got rid of to Marius Thomas, Courtland Sutton
had his moments. You don't really have a tight end.

(33:11):
Philip Lindsay was a one man gang behind a bad
offensive line. So looking at it for what they're paying
case Keenum, what he was on the hook for for
to some degree it was, well why don't you you
let that wait? But all of those things, as you
laid out with the the new coordinator, make sure you
get his name right, s Gangarrello coming over. He was

(33:33):
the quarterback coach for the forty niners the last two years,
top ten in passing yardage despite needing to go all
the way down to Seawan Mullins. All right, Nick Pollins,
but you have the shuffling of exactly only completes. So
that's the other thing that's curious there. So you put
a put a star on that one. It's not like

(33:55):
they were completing a a high percentage, but they took
their shots down field. You had some success with Goodwin
and other receivers. But when you look at it a
guy like Joe Flacco, they haven't exactly armed him with
a lot of stars in Baltimore these past couple of years, right,
And I know it's been a lifetime and it raises
the obvious. Well, here's a guy getting another shot. His

(34:18):
super Bowl is that long ago. And we get the
Colin Kaepernick because anything that happens in the NFL, Colin
Kaepernick gets brought up. But for Joe Flacco, you don't
have you don't. You didn't have the the same level
of talent Nazi knew some lost his fastball in the
evaluation process. They did not have the same offensive weaponry

(34:40):
that they did years ago. Deep ball is the game now,
They've got to go attend to the offensive line. That's
the one point. Well, I'll agree with with Jason lackavor
if you can get an offensive line that can keep
him up right. But they're not playing a game tomorrow.
They have the entire off season of the draft and
free agency to upgrade playing tomorrow night. And plus, don't
forget this, Joe Flacco is one of those guys. He's

(35:01):
got a huge chip on his shoulder right now. And
he's one of those guys that you can do that
and you can kind of diss him and and he's like,
you know what, I'll show you how done I am.
He's that kind of guy. So you throw the I
mean really, I mean what else are you gonna say
was gonna be a better move to winging around in
that that division? Also because you're gonna have a lot
of scoring going on Twitter at how about a fresco

Mike at Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen.
Coming up next, a game you're gonna want to play
with us. It's it's such a slam dunk game. I
have no idea why we're not doing it before it
makes its debut. Coming up next, Very very excited. It
doesn't involved tebow. Fox be sure to catch live editions

The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon. And now a
game that really has been well overdue. You know, we
played the Magic Johnson Twitter game the last year or
two was pretty interesting. It's pretty fun, often imitated, never duplicated,
and then he got boring. As soon as he got
a real job. That was tough. He started tampering. He

(36:27):
stopped being fun on Twitter and instead started talking about
everybody else's players. And now how the league comes down
and says, hey, there's nothing nefarious here with the Sixers,
Ben Simmons and Rich Paul. Come on, I want a
clown show. This has become. So we move on from
the Magic Johnson Twitter game to the Twitter game you
didn't know you wanted, but you absolutely need. The jose

(36:49):
Canseco Twitter game. Oh yes, big Foot, ain't no joke.
It's the jose Canseco Twitter game. It's very easy. I
give you a tweet from jose Can Saco and you
tell me if it's real or if it's completely made up.
I love this. Playing is myself. Mike Harman justin Frostburg
and Steve to say, are you guys ready? All right?

(37:10):
Hopefully you've not been on a Consaco's Twitter. He's on
the Oh yeah, all right, here we go. One of
many ways to live in extra thirty years is that
you have to sleep in almost freezing temperatures. Is that
a Jose Conseco tweet or no? You can live thirty
more years if you sleep and freezing temperature. I have
a feeling he could say just about anything you're about dispute.

(37:32):
That's what makes this game so yeah, I'm say, yeah,
it's way too normal. The tweet that is absolutely conco
to straightforward. When you're in Vegas, come and let me
teach you the art of power hitting baseball or softball?
Contact Morgan and then leaves the phone number. Oh yeah, always,

(37:58):
I've always seen the phone number tweet. I could also
I've also seen the Twitter, so I could put the
put in contact Morgan. Is that a real Jose and
Saco tweet or not? I could see that. Sure, No,
he doesn't know anything about softball. That is, come spend
the day with me and my family and my alien buddies.
I'll show you big Foot and a real alien called Morgan.

(38:20):
He gives the number. No he does, no Bigfoot, Yeah,
big ain't no joke. That is a real tweet from
Jose and Saco. And who knew that Bigfoot was hanging
out with the aliens? And the fact that he could,
I mean, that's amazing the fact that what I would
tell Bigfoot dressed as well Bigfoot on the strip is

(38:40):
that one of the guys you gonna shake you down
for five bucks? A guy's Bigfoot. No, that's actually Bigfoot. Yea,
he makes money now, he's been here for years. No,
I would like to see big Foot on the zip
line down. Come to Vegas and I'll take you on
an underground tour of an alien spaceship that landed during
World War One. The government sunk it in the desert.
Call Morgan and the phone number. Yeah, I can see that.

(39:03):
Why not? No, I made that one up. Wow, they
was there. It was just testing. It's a bridge too
far right there. Actually just tweeted that, uh, stay away
from bitcoin and has the same structure as my pyramids,
as any pyramid scheme, but controlled by one individual. Is
that jose can Saco tweet anything about stay away from

(39:26):
bitcoin and has the same structure as any potential pyramid scheme,
but controlled by one individual bitcoin. Uh nose dives. So yeah,
I know that's not not him though. That is he
got into your finances, got in there, he got in there.
We've all actually lived this moment in time on millions
of occasions. But every time we do the same thing

(39:49):
Groundhog Day. I could see jose telling me that we've
actually lived this moment in time on millions of occasions,
but every time we do the same thing. Sure why not?
Yeah No, I made that up. This may be the
toughest game ever because I could just say whatever and
you could go, yeah, this is a really hard game.

(40:10):
I love it though. Last one, selling my two thousand
eight r V super Custom, contact Kelly with a phone number. Yeah, yeah, nope, No,
Kelly's not his guy. That is a real tweet from
j Yeah, he's selling a two thousand eight custom RV.
You call the other guy. Kelly's the guy in charge
of the RV. Morgan's the guy in charge of the

(40:31):
Aliens and Bigfoot. Just so we know to hang out
with him the baby. We'll play the jose Can Sack
on Twitter game. Now, there you go. Two big stories
from the NFL. This is Fox. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox

(40:52):
Sports Radio and the I Heart radiop Fox Sports Radio.
The Jason Smith Show with My biss friend Mike Harmon
back after a couple of nights away filling in for
Dan Patrick. Harmon has been able to be here without
having to hear talk about the Jets and the Well, no,
we talked about the Knicks a little bit. I want
to just spend the rest of the week pondering how

(41:15):
I have a big proposal to the NBA about tanking
and getting rid of this atrocity that we've hit at
this point in the year every year by not just
the Knicks, but what ten other teams that have their
various levels of charades going on now. In in my defense,

(41:35):
when I came back, I did come back with the
Jose Canseco Twitter you did, which is that is adding
value we didn't know we wanted, but we absolutely have
to have. I mean, the Knicks still lost eighteen in
the row, but you know still now we have the
Jose Canseco Twitter games. But just like the James Harden
game of if you had bet every time he was
gonna score thirty and parlay in it, the Knicks and

(41:57):
their level of futility, it's and Frostberg was telling us
they canceled Latvian Night now because they don't have the
team's difference. What if you sold a bunch of tickets
to that, Hey we're gonna have a club out even
if you're not celebrating Porzingis. I think that tells me
they didn't sell a lot of tickets. No, I'm not

(42:17):
saying gone, sat there. Welcome to Latvia Night, as we
celebrate the life and career of our tours earbag, Come
on our Yeah, why not? You can celebrate some run
that Porzingis head. It's like a unicorn. You weren't supposed
to see him at all. You got that flash of
greatness night? Do you have? Is here another great lat Van?

(42:40):
Do you know? Tiny Tim? Is he a Latvi? Might
as well be? No, come on, he's not sounds like it,
you know, I want to I want to know how
this tiny Tim thing started and why why this happens?
This is kind of odd. This is an organic tai
shirt thing, all right? Yeah, you just lets his hero.
It was pretty good though, I mean, and then we
got to watch Uncle Elmer's wedding from Saturday Nights main events,

(43:01):
you know, I want to know. And last week that
was pretty cool. You got something the truth on this
tight shirt? Are you a government agent? And when they
play this on the radio. It means to activate some
sort of operation. You can't just close that like you
are on Ready you listen to the Jason Smith Show
with Mike Carmen. You hear tiny tim you know operation whatever,
it's go time, there's a go let's go. But no,

(43:22):
there is nothing that I'm doing right now. You want
to Now, I will say this. If you know what
you rank dot com and you find the list of
famous Latvians, there are a lot of guys name archers.
Who's the most famous Latvian you can find Chris stops well,
besides him because he's out. Now we're not going to

(43:43):
celebrate in well, yeah we will once he suits him.
There's a model named Hinta Latino and then Inga draws
Dova don't know them, I don't know. Well we'll send her.
How can you have a lot of you when when
I said the name of the two most famous lot
Vans Porzingis and Artism, but they're not sure they are,
you know, not in Latvia. No, don't lack you have

(44:05):
famous porzingis Is in Latin? You know Rosco and Rothko
the painter. Not if you're not more famous in Porzingis
and arts. Earbay. I've actually recreated Rothko's with in my
hands on art, really, you know I did the other day.
I went to Roscoe's and had chicken and waffles. Did
much better. Oh yeah, it's one of those where's where's
the call? Roscoe's is right. I was out during the
day doing stuff. You were probably painting at school or

(44:27):
you know, whatever you do during the day. We're napping.
I don't complain. I pick up the digits, you mean,
pick up the phone, pick up the dial, the digits,
pick up the pick it up. I called Morgan's Morgan
to get through to me, and it was great. But yeah,
we had a lot of fun. We talked about aliens
and all kinds of Now you're working on projects with

(44:48):
jose Consanko, some friend. You are my best friend. You
go and you hang out with Morgan, eaten chicken and waffles,
and you leave me in the dirt. Bigfoot was my waiter.
It was awesome. Dit Yes, turned on me just that
fast chicken and waffles. Yes, dark meat please, Yes, an
extra thigh. Yes you're welcome. Oh uh, cherry coke, all right,

(45:12):
thank you very much. You know I want to go
to Roscoe's on the way home. Not a sponsor, but
good chicken. Nonetheless, Yes, if you like chicken, you guys
want to go, I'll buy Bigfoot. And if you miss
the jose Can Sago Twitter game, it was like eight
minutes ago, and boy, you missed it. But we can
still sit there, ties you don't have to judge me.
Enok at, what are you looking at me asking me

(45:33):
about chicken waffle? I can't. I can't if I'm near
a waffle. I game. You can lick a bread crumb,
I puff up. I can't if I parked the car
in the parking lot, I'll wind up. You break out
if you lick a bread crumb. I get ammonia if
I get too close. These carbo hydrates are going to
just really be the death of me. I. I don't understand.
Carbo hydrates are just really really bad, fighting them constantly.
I'm like the guy on Fox News and you know

(45:53):
it doesn't believe the germs are real, but carbo hydrates
are real, and they're constantly attacking you. What I'm doing
my jiu jitsu and karate to try to get rid
of them, and knocked the carbo hydrates out in front
of you. Just got a good workout in in that
last minute. That was pretty good, wasn't it? Alex? What
do you think? How many? How many calories? You think?
You a couple of big NFL stories to get to Ubously.
We spent last hour talking about Joe Flacco and the

(46:15):
trade to the Denver Broncos. We'll have more on that
coming up in a second. But j Glazer absolutely, yeah,
what what what? We want to call it? A J
bomb today on Twitter today? Well, he did have the
f yeah, well bomb in there. There's two parts. There's
two parts of this story. One was the bit he
had in his mail bag. He was asked for a

(46:36):
couple of bold predictions in the off season by by
a Twitter user, and one of the bold predictions was
the Giants would trade Odell Beckham Jr. Now, after this happened,
apparently Jay got some tweets who that you know he
didn't like or call them names or you know, got trolled.
And this is one thing. You go after Jay, this

(46:57):
was boy, you go after his family. This is Jay's
response on Twitter to people who came after him after
his mail back today For all you blank sticks who
spewed blanket me, my kid, my mom my mom's kid,
my kid's mom my head size, body size, intelligence, my
mom's intelligence, all because I made a prediction about your

(47:17):
team today. Save your ridiculous blanking insults for that blank
that matters in life, Jay Glazer, everybody there, you go,
that's how you do it. Jay, I totally like that
here on boxing portraating. What people who know is that's
how he actually talks to us, and we actually have
to blank it out of and you know, beep it
out a little bit. Well, he does get a little
loose when we're conversational with Jay during Super Bowl week

(47:39):
when he was in here. You know, when you hear
a couple of times, you know when you get mad
at me and go, I don't know that I would
talk to trolls sometimes the way you do and everything.
And I look at Jay and you're clapping for him,
and that's like ten times crazier than than stuff I know.
But that's the point is if you're gonna go go
all in, you tiptoe, so then it just becomes an agitation.
You know. I like to look like I'm like the

(47:59):
I'm like the one liner. Okay, here's the one it's
like Batman, you had to say tiptoe right. Don't forget
to get those tulips before you go home tonight. People, Look,
you don't want to be at a store tomorrow trying
to buy your tulips or your roses or any of
that stuff on do it tonight. Also, don't buy tulips,

(48:21):
buy roses. Screw roses. Everybody buys. You're supposed to be
something different. Do you go to Red Lobster and have steak? No? No,
I don't go to red Roses. Well that's your fault.
Do you go to Black Angus and postures overrated? You
got a black Angus and get pasta? No, but I
won't get a nice lego lamb. And if that's what
they get, why do you do that? That's insane? Go

(48:41):
to a lamp, go to go to you know, black
lamb Angus or whatever it is to anything? Are us
went out of business? Now they're coming back though, so
they want to come back on the comeback trail. Wanting
to come back and actually coming back or two different things.
I want to come back. The long road back begins
the first step. You know, you know how many guys
in radio I have heard say that either got fired

(49:04):
or let go from a place, and they go, you know,
I'll come back if they ask me. But you know,
I think, and I'm like, dude, dude, no one's asking you. No,
no one's going No one's gonna ask you to come back.
You don't go to Del Tacco, would get well? I
I do go to Del Taco and get a cheeseburger.
You know you don't go, well, okay, but you got
my point. I mean, Del Taco does have a really
good cheeseburger, but it's fantastic. Yeah, but Dell Taco really

(49:25):
under rating. Well, you got my point. Now about Odell Beckham,
this is something that I have said obviously for how
long year and a half the Giant should part ways
with Odell Beckham. He's not worth it. His antics and
what he does off the field, combined with his injury history,
his potential for drops, and the fact that you're always

(49:48):
living with some kind of drama with him makes it
not worth it. And now you're locked into him, and
last year was difficult. It was the same kind of thing.
You gave him a lot of money, so he's not
gonna grow up. Oh I remember the Giants went crazy
and they fell over themselves because for three weeks in
the preseason, Odell Beckham was silent. Yeah, because he knew

(50:08):
that you'd be stupid. Hey, if I don't do anything
for three weeks, they'll give me money. Oh great. So
he was quiet for three weeks and the Giants paid him,
and he turned back into Odell Beckham Jr. Causing controversy
with stuff he has said that had to be put out.
He was at odds with Pat Shermer, and it's become
Odell and the Giants, And now the Giants know they
gotta move on. Look, Jay Glazer is not saying this

(50:29):
unless he thinks there's a really big chance gonna happen.
I mean an even. Look, when I give a bold
prediction on something, I don't throw it out there and say,
you know, hey, bold prediction. Yeah, it might happen. It's
crazy enough. Like when I say Lamar Jackson will be
in the Pro Bowl next year. You know, isn't right?
Is it a bold prediction that he makes it? Yeah?
But at the same time, I'm telling you why I

(50:49):
think he's going to be a pro bowler. An argument.
I don't just say stuff just to say I would say,
it's like, you know it's gonna be the problem next year?
Is Andy Dalton? You know you know it's gonna be
the problem next year? Is Derek Carr? Why? Well, I
don't know. I mean, no, I'm not. I don't do that.
There's Oh, when people bag a bolt prediction about something,
it's something that they think is going to happen now
and me, it's my opinion. For you, it's your opinion.
For j it's Jason bleeping inside No, but that he's

(51:12):
the best insider you know we have in football, and
he breaks stuff and he when he says this, he
knows that this has a big chance of happening. He's
not a guy connecting dots and trying to well sometimes,
let's face it, we all get into a little bit
of hot take nonsense of what would be a good story,
what would move the needle in the not just for us,

(51:34):
but in the NFL and teams and and really, you know,
inject some energy to conversations with Jay No, you've got
a twenty plus year track record of only coming forward
with information when it's rock solid. There's not a lot
of missus in the j Glazer. Our guys as you
go through. So if he's putting it out there, he's

(51:56):
hurt enough. Right, he's got his start being connected into
that Giants world with his buddy Michael Strahan and all
these years later, that's how his reputation grew because he
didn't talk out of school, not in right here. If
you're talking talking bold prediction, that means there's there's a
little bit of a fire that's already been started about this.
And look for the past year plus, it's gonna been

(52:18):
circled about there. We've gone through it a number of times, like,
all right, here's a team, go find they've got enough
draft picks, they need a receiver. Maybe they've got enough
of a locker room and veteran coach that can handle it.
We've done all that. Now you're you're talking about the
next era. You've got, say, Kwan Barkley, You're gonna go
find a new quarterback in this draft because you have to.
Even if Pat Shermer tells you Eli Eli Eli, and

(52:40):
even if Barkley does all his interviews and tells you
how close they were and that Eli is still the guy. No, No,
that's that's good pr But the reality is they're gonna
move on. So in the new regime, do you want
the receiver that's gonna control that's that's not gonna weigh
the way it works and the way the NFL works anymore.
So if you can get a a deal on the

(53:01):
table from Oakland or one of these other teams, rich
and picks, you're gonna listen if you get any deal,
because you free up money and you're gonna get something
good because somebody is gonna give you something big for him,
because he's still on the right side of thirty. But
in New York he has been such a big distraction,
and I'm wondering if the Giants whole strategy wasn't if
we sign him long term and it doesn't work out,

(53:22):
we're gonna be able to trade him. So I'm not
worried about that. We'll be able to move him if
we have to. But they're on mars where they got
themselves in the situation now they have to try to
extricate themselves. When you realize the Steelers are saying, hey,
we want a first round pick for Antonio Brown, meaning
that the offer that's gonna commit is likely going to
be less than that. So the offer for Odell Beckham
is not going to be what they expect or hope

(53:42):
it to be in a vacuum because he comes along
with a lot of baggage. And what guys like Beckham
have to realize is that you can be upset with
your team and be publicly upset and maybe you're right
and maybe you're wrong, but whatever image you put out there,
that's what all thirty one other teams see. So when
they're looking to try eight few, they go, boy, he
really can't help himself. He's got to be a distraction

(54:06):
all the time. He's got a assault, kicking nets, he's
got to get bad penalties, he's got to do all
of these things. He can't do it. And now he's
got money and now here he is. It's Odell and
the rest of the Giants. Yeah, I don't know about that.
I don't know they're gonna give up something for him.
I don't know that I want to bring him in.
He got that's Odell Beckham. He's not worth it for
the Giants. He's not worth it for what they're trying

(54:26):
to do. And that's starting over with se Kwon Barkley.
And now, okay, let's go get a quarterback. For me,
most of the knucklehead stuff I can rush away, even
if it piles up. The penalty is obviously dumb penalties,
we know that in the NFL. Absolutely soul crushing to
your offense. But yards per game. The bigger question is
just two years in a row he's hurt mhm. It's
the injuries that are that are bigger deals to me,

(54:48):
Like the rest of the stuff. With the right locker room,
the right leader, and a quarterback you know that's still
productive downfield, I think he'd be fine. It's the I'm
gonna trade for a guy who's already got injury history
and a sizeable contract. Valentine's Days Tomorrow, February fourteenth. What
gift are you getting for the one you love? Save
four hundred bucks on the half carrot, total weight diamond

(55:10):
hart pendant now only to show cube and Who's boss
this Valentine's Day at Hellsburg Diamonds. We'll have more football
on the way later on this hour, but coming up
next James Harden another day, another game at thirty. Would
Michael Jordans really be who James Harton is if he
was playing? Now? What's next for the Lakers Apparently Luke

in the NBA. A loss for James Harden the Rockets,
but yet another thirty point in game, make it thirty
one in a row for him to get to thirty
points forty two tonight in a losing effort not to
be outdone. The l A Times reports the Lakers are

(56:38):
gonna keep Luke Walton for the entire season, and also
the Knicks have lost seventy eight games in her own
fantastic streaks. Hey, it's all about streaks. Way to go.
He's not gonna get to seventy eight. He's not gonna
get a call, not gonna get Hey, this is Alex type,
Mike Francesca. Can you count from forty two to one?

(57:00):
Dred for it? Just we we do a thing on
the show, and we use you. We need you to
keep going. Joining us now on the hot line for
all the big news in the NBA. You can follow
them on Twitter at Chris B. Haynes. That's at Chris
be Haynes, Senior NBA insider for Yahoo Sports. And a
brand new friend of the show who's gonna be joining
us weekly. So let's start things out. Brand new friend

(57:20):
of ours now, Chris, what would you like your walk
up music to be? And we introduce you when you
come out, and what do you want your walk up
music to be? Man? You put me on the spot. Guy, Well,
thanks for having me first of all, of good to
have you in. Welcome on board. You know what, at
the at the interview, I'll have the song ready for you,
all right, as long as it doesn't come off with
a guy immediately dropping a bunch of expletations. We're all good.

(57:43):
We've had a couple of random requests through the years. Chris,
I can't. It takes the editing staff and they gotta
go ahead and take those first three lines out, all right,
So Chris, let's let's start here tonight. A conversation we
had the top of the show, and I brought this
up today. Earlier on Dan Patrick Show, we watched James
Harden score another night tonight at thirty or more points,

(58:04):
and he's having a run that we've never seen before.
You couple this with Michael Jordan yesterday when he was
asked about harden streak and Westbrook streak of triple double saying,
you know, six rings is kind of you know, the
thing that impresses me the most salty Michael Jordan's. We
know that guy. But if I'm gonna compare for I
was gonna say, who would Michael Jordan's be offensively if
he was playing in the NBA right now, I would

(58:26):
say he was James I he beat James Harden, this
is who he'd be that. You know. The Jordan's backdown
move that he'd like to use in the nineties wouldn't
work as well because the way teams play defense now,
but his fade away is the same thing as Harden
step back, and Jordan would shoot more threes, and I
think offensively they'd be pretty similar players they were. I
don't know if Jordan would initiate as much of the

(58:48):
offense that James does right now. Um, but I will
say this, I think you know, when you talk to
a lot of um, a lot of older NBA players,
the ones that's retired, you know, they talk about much
the game has changed, three point balls, the spacing on
the floor, and then the emphasistem just get up quick shot.
And then you add the dynamic of the the shot

(59:09):
clock on offensive rebounds being you know, not going all
the way back to twenty four and so that leads
to quicker shots. There's more offensive possession, which is why
the teams are scoring a lot more. And so they
look at that and they say, hey, you know, when
when guys are elevating their game, like James Harden with
these triple doubles, and you know, they got some resentment
towards that when when people start trying to say that

(59:31):
they're better, you know that they're putting up better numbers
than the players before and it's just different times, different games.
And look, I love Jordan's coming out and saying that man,
that's DNS Jordan Man, I mean, we shouldn't expect anything less.
And he's He's exactly right. You know, it's the day
you know that they're supposed to be out there fighting
for championships, planning to compete for the for the highest

(59:51):
for the highest um award, and that's that's the that's
the NBA Finals US now Yo, Bryan's trophy and I
liked it. I first did, and he probably giggled a
bit today when the Timberwolves won by ten uh for
the Rockets to help in that discussion a little bit
more right, you know, a little little little chips as
you get into the All Star weekend that you can

(01:00:13):
needle him at at a festivities to go along in Charlotte, Hey,
Chris here in Los Angeles obviously, Laker watch. We've had
Walton Watch. We even have a sounder for it, where
you know, reverberation and you know, it's like the old
television shows of what's gonna happen next. Genie Buss says, well,
Luke Walton safe even though they got beat by the Hawks.

(01:00:35):
Yesterday and Lebron looked completely disinterested. What do you make
of where this team is now post trade deadline in
terms of trying to rally their spirits and getting these
young guys off the mat. Looks that there's a move
that that that needs to be minuted within that lots
of room, and um, you know Luke Walton, you know

(01:00:57):
he's definitely at fault uh to in the stint when
you look at the rotation, Uh, there's there's no continuity there. Um,
guys don't know when they're when they're going to play
like that. You know, God, you know that that that
frustrates players. And I think that that definitely led to
the altercation that was had, you know, a few weeks
ago with Luke Walton and a couple of the players.

(01:01:19):
But I will say this, man, like, when that chance
you guys know what I'm talking about, I've never I've
never experienced or seeing anything like that where the whole
arena was on one accord and the timing of it
to go at those jumpsters like that with Lebron would
trade you chance like that? These are young, These are

(01:01:41):
young players, and I know Magic Johnson went out on
the fifth of a couple of days are gonna say,
you know, media, stop treating these uh, these players like babies.
But they're young players. They're not used to that, you know,
and and so there's gonna be So it's not Luke
Walton's problem right now. You got had his issues. But

(01:02:02):
I think players they need to have a sit down
and talk them of themselves and and get with Lebron
just to see where everybody's at and trying to give
the same page, because that's the right now. They look
like a bunch of individuals that don't want to play together.
See because when when I try to think what's the
best thing for the Lakers going forward, knowing this is
likely the team they're gonna have, they could have had
in his canner, he picked the Blazers today over the Lakers,

(01:02:23):
which tells you something is that Lebron has still kept
the Lakers at arm's length. He's never really become a Laker.
You know, when even his whole uh, the whole wooing
and the signing agreen to sign, he was here for
twenty minutes and then he left to go on vacation.
He didn't meet with the media. You know, you could
see he's apart from his teammates. You know a lot

(01:02:43):
of them know that he wants them to be traded.
When Rondo hit the big shot the other night, Jordan's Uh,
Lebron celebrated with Rondo and the veterans, not with the kids.
When he's interviewed about what he's chasing, he says, I'm
not chasing anything anymore. And you know, Laker fans are saying, Uh,
we brought you here to win titles. What do you
mean You're not chasing anything. I think they need to
get Lebron to buy in to realize, dude, you are

(01:03:06):
the Lakers in his time to embrace this, but he
still has that hired gun mentality. The first time, the
first time that I because I covered Lebron was a
cast beat writer. Uh, when Lebron went back to Cleveland
for the second time, so I covered up for two
years there. But I want to say, like, the first
time I saw that there was a disconnect between let

(01:03:27):
the fans Lebron was when I forgot it was earlier
in the year. I want to say it was preseason
training camp and Lebron was asked in the scrum after
practice about I can't remember it was something with his jersey.
I don't know if he didn't he didn't practice with
the right jersey or something like that, and somebody asked
him about that and Lebron was like, his response was,

(01:03:51):
hold on, you, you haven't been following my career. I've
been doing that all year like And so what that
showed me was that as as accomplishes the Bran News,
you know, he's arguably known as as the best player
in the game, there's still a level of winning, winning
over the Lakers that he still has to overcome. And

(01:04:12):
it wasn't going to come just by him signing on
the on on the dotted line. And I think he
recognized that and saw that. And you know, you know
earlier the year, you saw people it was before I believe,
before even play the game, people were um uh painting
over his painting over his um, his um picture on
a on a wall or something and putting Kobe like.

(01:04:32):
So there's still some buying hate that he needs to
get here. And look, he he made it clear that
this decision to come to l A with a family decision,
and I've been told that, you know, basketball is still
the priority, but definitely when he comes and says things
like that, like, hey, there's nothing in this league that
I havn't having, you know, having gotten or having a change.

(01:04:53):
So I'm not worried that that that. I can understand
how the Laker fan base will be discouraged with that.
He that's wanna have to change. And look, I'm gonna
tell you right now, guy cover with Lebron, he's not
a patient guy. If they somehow do not make the
playoffs this year, all hell is gonna break loose and

(01:05:14):
quartered off season, well, I can't wait to see if
there's no question about Remember three years ago he was
talking about chasing the ghost in Chicago. Hasn't won anything since,
and suddenly maybe he's recognized that you're never finding, uh
that level. It's Chris Haynes, with a senior NBA inside
of for Yahoo Sports. Host of the Post It Up

Gonna join us each and every week talking all things Association.
All right, we get into the All Star break, post
trade deadline on the Eastern Conference side of things. Who's
in the driver's seat. Elton Brand wants to win now
the Bucks grab mirror, Titch, where are we going here?

(01:05:56):
I'm going with as it right now. I'm gonna go
with Solano because I think from top to bottom, watch
the deepest team in the NBA. And you know the
move that bringing Marc the Saul, somebody who follow who's
gonna have the opportunity, opportunity to win at a high
at a high on the high stage. I give them
the ask, but look, I can't discount what Philly has done.

(01:06:17):
I still think they have to uh find some continuity
and and and learn how to play play together. And
in Milwaukee, you know, they're they're they're making that surge.
But as great as Milwaukee has been this season, you know,
I still believe that you have to pay your dues
and build those steps, and I think that's what Milwaukee
is doing. I still don't think they're deep enough um

(01:06:40):
to get out of the East, but I definitely think
they're gonna be a thicker thing. So so to answer
your question, I think Toronto as a right now has
the lead, but I don't discount Boston as well. Once
Kyrie gets healthy, and even even though there's some locking
room issues, I just think they're too good to just
forget about. You can find my Twitter at Chris B. Haynes.

looking forward to it. Thanks a bunch, christ next week, buddy,
all right, brand new friend of the show. There you go. Welcome.
More is gonna have some work you know you got
now you gotta find the bleeped out version, so we're
gonna need that. We okay, Well, well say that's what
I know. Oh we okay, we're okay with this. Find
out about you gotta really surprise me. I really thought

(01:07:48):
he was gonna say, past the Kasi, we'll have more
in the NBA and everything that Chris Haynes just broke
down with us coming up in a minute. But first,
here's what's trending with Steve to segers me only three
games tomorrow and then the Star break. The NBA All
Star Game is in Charlotte's Sunday Night. Two games going
on right now, three and a half minutes to go
till halftime at Portland fifty six fifty two Blazers ahead

(01:08:09):
of Golden State. The Warriors started the night three games
ahead of second place Denver in the Western Conference standings.
Denver has won in a comeback over Sacramento one eighteen.
The Nuggets were down seventeen mid second quarter and Isaiah
Thomas of the Nuggets did make his season debut. Phoenix
has lost fourteen in a row. Sons are losing in
l A to the Clippers right now, late first half

(01:08:29):
fifty eight to forty seven. Eighteen straight losses for the
Knicks in New York. Philadelphia beat him one. Joel and
b by the way, was fine twenty five thousand dollars
today for criticism of the refs. Last night wins for Chicago,
Miami and Minnesota, which beat Houston one one eleven despite
forty two points from James Hardenew now has thirty one

(01:08:49):
straight games with at least thirty points in each. Boston
a winner, Toronto and Milwaukee as well. For Toronto, that's
six straight victories, but they are still one game back
of first place mill Hawkeey in the East. And it
was Brooklyn and three overtimes winning at Cleveland College Basketball.
So number one Tennessee when it's nineteenth straight game beating
South Carolina, seventy three victories for Villanova and Texas Tech.

(01:09:13):
Wins for Florida State and Virginia Tech. In the NHL
just two games. Pittsburgh a three one winner over Edmonton
the late contest end of one ducks one nothing over
the Canucks. The Broncos will acquire quarterback Joe Flacco from
Baltimore for a fourth rounder. Baseball Phillies Gay Picture Aaron
Nola a four year deal. Yankees pitcher C. C. Sabathia
will announce this weekend that will be his final season.

(01:09:36):
He turns thirty nine this year. He had angio plasti
in December. We'll be back to the show in ten seconds,

Get me dealer's choice. Thanks to CHRISP. Haynes for stopping

every Wednesday. Awesome to have him in the fold. Now, Um,
we can talk about one of two things. We can

(01:10:19):
talk about the Lakers situation with Luke Walton, sure right,
not firing Luke Walton Yellly Times reporting that Luke's gonna
be safe for the rest of the season. Or I
can give you what's behind door number two and that
is an embarrassing story about the New York Knicks. So
I'm gonna take much in the Lakers Nicks, right, Lakers
Nicks big. We can come back to the Lakers in

(01:10:41):
a little bit, SERI. There's plenty of ways to go
after that. No, I'm gonna take the mystery box of
the Knicks. Yeah it's been Hey, you guys haven't been
here in the last couple of days. Next tight shirt,
and I didn't take the baseball bat to the Knicks
over the last forty eight hours. Okay. So now I'm
gonna get out the Louisville Slugger and let's get after it.
On T and T this Saturday, the documentary Finding Janice

(01:11:04):
is gonna come out, and it's all about how is
Albert Brooks one of the voices of that one. Just
keep dribbling, Just keep dribbling, Just keep Oh look, turtles, Uh,
it's gonna be out, and it's all gonna be about
how Jannisnakunbo went from, you know, being a basketball player
in Greece to being the best player in the NBA.
So it's all about that journey. What do we do?

(01:11:26):
We just keep scouting, just keep scouting. When Janice was
playing in Greece, every team in the NBA sent a
scout over to watch him play, every single every single monster.
His agent said, every team sent a scout over. Well

(01:11:49):
you should have had to. I mean, that's one of
those so you could turn to the guy on your
left or right, go or a woman if she's scouting,
and just say, am I seeing this? Are you seeing
the same thing? I am? Look at this guy. He's transcendent.
He's incendiary. Every single time. Every team should have been there. Yea,
almost every team was there. Every team is this where

(01:12:13):
they're your team's logos behind the box, but one. According
to Janice's agent, Phil Quote, scouts started flying to grease
every day, executives, GM's assistant coaches, every team came. Teams
except everybody sent someone to scout Janice except the fare

(01:12:42):
it out? Whether can they go fare it out? Whether
James Dolan just didn't want to spend the money. No,
it was not filled. This was not the fil jet
you can hang stuff on filled. No, was it Isaiah?
Who was it Phil? Was this you? Phil? It wasn't you?
Was it Phil? No? This is when Glenn Grunwald was
the GM. Then he got fired so Steve Mills could
take over. That was um, that was yeah, that was

(01:13:03):
not on Phil. It's still gonna fall on Phil. Not
on Phil. That's that's just ridiculous. Not how do you
not wow that you hear a lot of bad organizational
issues right right, we got this big flat now between
Cleveland and ESPN and the Flying Chair the scenes and

(01:13:26):
the Browns Mexico. So slap fights there and then you've
got the Knicks. Don't scout top three right now? Donate
him now. Look, it's not like everybody loved him because
he went in the middle of the first That's fine,
but you still get on a plane. We don't need
to now, we don't need to go too. Does anybody

(01:13:47):
want to fly to Grease now? Yeah? Yeah, okay, Neil,
And we're not gonna take him. It doesn't matter. But
you go through this whole process away Jr. And then
we'll let him go and then we'll bring him back
and then we'll trade him away again. That's what we're
to do. Yo yo, Wow, that's the next level. Are
we talking about the international game? And the going all
the way back to Tony ku coach? You know it's

(01:14:10):
all those years ago, go scouts everywhere. They were probably
scouting a drummer for Dolan's band. About that anybody worthwhile
in Greece Now I don't think I Well, let's let's
go to London instead. We'll get somebody there. The guy
is a one man band like in Mama Mia Too
and kisses the fire burning burning even shock you at all? No,

(01:14:31):
of course you say, yeah no, but it's the it's
the type of thing. It's like where you assume this
stuff to be true on some level, you don't don't
want the confirmation, right, it's the I called it the
magic Johnson. It's just lunch theory. Just punch myself and
he's gonna keep calling your and and keep looking after Hey,

(01:14:52):
it's not tampering. It's just me. It's magic. It's just lunch.
We're hanging out. No magic is trying to steal your
best player. There go your girlfriend. If you want to
take that analogy a little further, you want to believe
it's not true. But no, he wants your guy. Twitter
at how about a fresco and dump no nix yo.
We need a new show. We have so totally mets

(01:15:15):
that's the Browns and now we need nix Yo. That's
gonna be the new show. That's good. We need we
need some theme music to it, though, Tiny Tim not
gonna be Tiny Tim? Why not because just to put
it on there, because no, it's not. It's got to
be something different. I'm going down down, No, No, it's
kind of like that. That's going uh coming up next

Harden coming up in a little bit Another night where
Harden goes for thirty making thirty one nights in a
row and night off for Russell Westbrook as he gets
set to put his streak of ten triple doubles in
a row on the line. Doesn't mean we were bereft
of Russell Westbrook News today because he didn't interview in

(01:16:42):
which he talked about criticism that he gets. Many people
don't like Russell westbrook style of play. He doesn't make
the team better. He's too much of a ball hog.
He takes too many bad shots. Russell Westbrooks said today, quote,
I've been blessed with the talent to not give a
blank Oh boy, that's one of the greatest one liners.

(01:17:03):
But he's been quiet, right for all the criticism. Remember
there was about a nine day period where Durant didn't
speak and it was Durant's not talking butout and then
he finally talked, and then he didn't shut up. And
now he's a mo goal and everybody's dropping fifteen page
layouts of his rise to brilliance and power. And he
does a lot of great things. You read up on
Kevin Durant behind the scenes, not just about while complaining

(01:17:26):
that people hate him or whatever on the court. No, no, no,
he does a lot of good things in the community.
But for Russell Westbrook, he's been silent. He's been absolutely
you know whatever, you've got the zipper like I talked
about with the Odell Beckham Jr. Tweet earlier, he's not
spoken at all. Well, he's been silent until today. Yeah,

(01:17:49):
I've been blessing the talent to not give a blood.
That's a talent. That is a talent. It is. It
takes a while to get there. You know, it took
me a while to get there. It took me a
long time through the Honestly, when I left ESPN, I realized,
you know, if I'm going to be you know, if
I'm going to continue to grow in radio and different
things I do, I have to have adopt that kind

(01:18:09):
of mentality. And ESPN never wants you to have that mentality.
They always want you to be controllable and in the
box and this and everything and and you know, protect
the brand at all costs. Like, okay, you know you
can do all of these things and you can still
be a talent that gets out there and says things
that are provocative and get people listening. And you know,
so I realized I hit that point when coming to Fox.
I'm like, you know what, I have to have a

(01:18:31):
little bit of I d G A F. And you know,
that's really helped and it's helped me, it's helped the show.
It's and and I've become a different kind of radio
host because because as you know, as much as I
like doing proud of what I did there, there still
was that well, if I say this, this is gonna
come back, this is gonna I mean ridiculous stuff. Well
you're playing the game of what ifs, depending on affiliates,

(01:18:53):
depending on the boss in there was I was very
critical of Bud Sealing for one day and and I said,
you know, the thing with Bud Sealing is, and I've
said this on this show, is that he strugged this
when he was commissioner that Major League Baseball is that
he struggles with the moral decisions that should be easy
and the business decisions are easier. But he struggles big

(01:19:15):
time with that. And you know I I went through
all that and I made my time. I didn't take
him on. He struggles, you know, he struggles with this.
And the next day or two days later, one of
my big bosses, UH called me on the phone and say, listen,
I don't know about that ceiling thing. I said, what

(01:19:36):
did I say? That was rowing? It's nothing. It's just
you know, Bud Sealing listens to shows and and you know,
if if he get upset I don't know that I
could save your job. And my first reaction, honestly was,
but if Mike and Mike said it, or college, you
could say their job, right, I mean really, I mean basically,
you know you're you're saying, oh, I don't know the
UK I can't save your job because they protected who
they wanted to protect. Everybody wants. Everybody wanted to be

(01:19:59):
protected like like those shows were. Because that's the way
it should be done. You should say, oh I can,
But it was I don't know that I can save
your job really because I said something critical he was.
It was like a moral decision about like teams didn't
a team didn't want to play a game, was unsafe
travel because of a hurricane. I think it devolved the Astros.
I'm going back now, this is like seven or eight years,
but I think it was the Astros didn't want to

(01:20:20):
travel first series because of because of a hurricane and
or or something going on, and Ceil he wanted to
keep playing the series. It was it's an easy decision
to make to let them not play. But and that's
and he's I don't know that I can save your job.
So the fact that Westbrook is here is awesome because
you know what, He's able to not give a blank
about anything, and as a result, he has been one

(01:20:43):
of the few guys that has stayed relevant and polarizing
without saying anything. It's all about what he does on
the court. There's no other guy where we just talk
about him on the court, it's always something that says that.
It's always what Durant says or Lebron says or something
else that. But but for Russell Westbrook, it's on the court.
It's awesome. Well he's done that brilliantly. I mean, look,
I get people attacking me all the time. Mike Harmon

(01:21:05):
has overrated Calves. I laughed. I said, it's just motivation.
That means I gotta get back to the gym, the
road to swallow. Look, you want to be liked or hated.
You don't want people to be indifferent either way. Each
requires learning on your part. Twitter at about a Fresco,
we get back to the big story of the night.

one games in a row with thirty points. We'll break
it down, coming up in twenty minutes. And I'm kind
a board with the streak. Now. Like you guys all
complained about the Patriots or whatever else, I'm tired. I'm
tired of that we get to watch and do every
other night. Every other night we're gonna watch hard and
go for thirty and the other one you see every
six to nine months, Yet you hate it. How about

(01:22:08):
that Jets fan? Oh you mean the Jets losing streaks
or the next losing games? Nicks we get to see
every night. Nas really quick, you know, speaking before before
we get to the Joe Flacco story. Ryan Hollins, who
I've filled in with Dan Patrick today on on earlier today,
had a great story on how teams tank late in

(01:22:30):
the season in a way that people don't realize. And
I said, all right, what we were talking about the
Knicks And he said, you know, when I played in Cleveland.
You know, obviously we had a year we were tanking
and we needed to get a bit high draft pick.
But what happens is that when you get too late
in the season, you practice a lot, and it's easy
because the coaches say, we need to practice, we're not good,

(01:22:50):
we need to practice gonna figure out who can do.
But by the time you get to this point in
the season, you're fifty five sixty games in. If you
are practicing really hard between game, your teams have no
legs left in the fourth quarter. He goes, so you
look at why the Knicks are losing games the way
they are with they're staying close in three quarters and
losing in the fourth quarter. I said, well, it's because
David Fizdale is yanking guys in and out of the lineup.

(01:23:11):
But he said, no, well that's true. But that's the
fact is that guys, when you practice hard, you have
no legs left at this point because the season is long,
it's a travel in to play because now it's it's
one one one one one days, which is you travel,
you play, you travel, the next day you play, you travel,
next day you play, and most teams are doing shoot
arounds they're doing film, they're out on the court that
very that long, they're doing other things. But when you

(01:23:33):
have these monsters, when you practice an hour hour and
a half, all right, you're getting up for practice and
you're trying to get up for a game. And that's
a way, that's a way of taking. We're gonna keep
practicing and all it does is take your legs out
in the fourth Well, I mean it's always works for
Tom Thibodeau teams deep into a season in the playoffs
where nobody's got legs left. I really thought you were
gonna have the alternate theory of about weakening legs from Burgess,

(01:23:54):
Meredith and Mickey out of the Rocky series and you're
gonna have some body tails. So we're gonna only opriate
here in the slide over Baby pregame show. But instead
you went to the harder practices. All right, Well, I
mean there's many different ways to get to that end
game where guys out. Yes, we're scouting and evaluating, but

(01:24:16):
as sucker move that is, come on, keep ron egg,
we're evaluating you, coach. I'm on a minimum deal and
you've already told me repeatedly in weeks past that. I'm gone,

Flacco is gonna be a Bronco Officially when the new
league year begins on March thirteenth, Flacco will be a Bronco.
A mid round pick is headed back to the Baltimore Ravens,

(01:25:01):
likely a fourth round pick, but the actual pick itself
is not known right now. Again, we'll know everything March thirteenth,
but that trade is happening. Joe Flacco will be the
new quarterback for the Denver Broncos. I'm surprised at how
much I saw criticism for this move over the course

(01:25:24):
of the day. Well, too many folks that didn't watch
the Ravens. It's because when Flacco played the first month, Yeah,
there were there was some promise there and then they
hit a wall. Between injuries and effectiveness. Just it disappeared,
and all of a sudden, the calls for Lamar Jackson. Well,
weel that day, there's not much more we were so
on the nose about than telling you last August Flacco

(01:25:47):
is gonna be the quarterback for a while. Unless he
starts out like Gangbusters, Lamar Jackson will find his way
into play because first round picks play, and it's gonna
be an ugly last couple of weeks of the season
when when it's obvious that Jackson's the quarter back in
the future and he is playing, and Flacco will be
traded in the off season. And that's exactly what happened
to a T. Flacco played from that one, either couldn't

(01:26:08):
get the team going, Lamar Jackson took over. You had
the Flacco's injury is keeping him out again this week
and again and again, so we didn't have to really
lose the job. He just had to be injured enough
so he couldn't play, but at least they put him
on report. We're still wondering what's going on with certain
players from a certain Super Bowl runner up Girlie uh
in terms of injuries and injury reports. So you know

(01:26:31):
he's giving credit. They said, hey, he's hurt. I think
it's broken. But for the amount of criticism I've seen, oh,
I don't like the trade for the Broncos. I saw
the like ESPN gave it a D plus and other things.
I don't like it. Don't like it. I'm like, Okay,
people are just looking for something to hate. Here's why
the trade works on so many levels. Works for the Broncos,
and it works for the Ravens. It works the Ravens
because they had to get rid of Flacco, right they knew.

(01:26:53):
They knew because Lamar Jackson is their guy. He is
their guy. And I went, you know, I reiterated again today,
Lamar Jackson will be in the Pro Bowl next season.
Bold prediction. Lamar Jackson Pro Bowl quarterback next year. I
dig that that means he's only got to finish eighth
in terms of any statistical very low bar. Look, my guys,
Trevor Simeon was gonna be a Pro bowler a couple

(01:27:14):
of years ago. There you go. But so Blaco had
a good start to the season and then there they
were at a point where they were what they were
four and three after a loss to New Orleans and
they lost to Cleveland twelve nine, So all of a sudden,
it's like, well, what do we got here? And he'd
gone to seventy nine or better and every one of

(01:27:36):
those games. But as soon as you've drafted the quarterback
of the future, the clock is ticking, so it becomes
a at the first slip and with horrorball in battle like,
there was so much going on at the end of
the he knew some run HORRBA on the odd seed,
everything else. It became a all right, we gotta roll
the dice. The Pittsburgh Steelers are all slap fighting everywhere,

(01:27:57):
and everybody's angry at each other, so you've got to
make your attempt to go and steal the division, which
is exactly what they did. So they trade is gonna
be a fourth round pick likely, which is good because
other teams would have waited them out because they couldn't
go to camp and they couldn't go through the off
season with Jackson and Flacco both on the roster. So
it works for the Ravens, it works for the Broncos

(01:28:17):
because they need an upgrade a quarterback. It's clear case
Kedom's a backup, right, he had one moment in time
with the Minnesota Vikings, and it's clear he's not the guy.
The Broncos are built on a good running game and
a really good defense. Their offensive line stinks, but it's
not like Joe Flacco has gotta go play a game
tomorrow behind a bad offensive line. They have this entire

(01:28:39):
offseason for the draft and free agency to get a
better offensive line. So that's what they're going to do.
Joe Flacco is still a player who can play at
a high level. Is he one of the elite quarterbacks
in the NFL? No? Is he middle of the pack? Yeah,
and you know what, that's good enough. That's good enough.
But now you throw into the hopper that who else

(01:28:59):
were you gonna at? A few? Were the Broncos? You're
not drafting high enough to get a franchise quarterback and
maybe you're not sold on Haskins or Kyler Murray. So
that's out. Who are the quarterbacks who were available? The
best one is as Derek Carr, but there's no way
that the Raiders who are going to trade him, they're
not going to trade him to you inside the division,
So that's out. Are you gonna go get Nick Foles? No,
Nick Foles is like getting case Keenan again. Here's a

(01:29:21):
career backup that's had some moments and now we're gonna
go No, you went down that road. Flacco is still
young enough, he still has a can and he still
throws for three yards any given week, and going to Denver,
he's gonna get that extra ten yards on his fastball,
just like Peyton Manning did when he went there because
of the thin air Nat helped jump start to continue

(01:29:42):
Peyton Manning's career when his shoulder was breaking down. That's
gonna happen to Flacco, who could always throw a great deeper.
He's got great deep threats already in Denver. So he's
the best guy you were going to get. And when
you throw. All on the top of this is that
this guy now has a large chip on his shoulder.
This is a Super Bowl winning quarterback who went through

(01:30:04):
all the ups and downs with the team and with hardball,
who was shown the door. Oh yeah, you think I'm done,
I'll show you I'm done. And sometimes that be being
bitter and being upset and being met is an awesome motivation. Yeah,
they rode the chip all the way to the ship.
He made it up. This is real. Tom Brady made

(01:30:25):
up the drama and was living the real drama. But
you saw what he did. I mean he led him
do a super Bowl title. That's exactly what happened. Overcoming
the ship and they had that chip on the should
Losing games is not overcoming adversity. Oh the Patriots lost five. No,
that's not overcoming adversity. That's losing football games. That's not

(01:30:46):
overcoming adversity. People didn't run on the field to make
tackles when you were gonna score touchdown, run back up
into the stands. I can't. They're still gonna play this
They're gonna play this card and then they're gonna play
Ariana Grande seven rings from now until the end of
next season. Oh, we're going after our seventh thring, seven rings.
Here comes the Grande song. Here and all those teams

(01:31:08):
failed to do anything to stop them. There's Florence, he
goes down. They got Jim Wow, there you go. But
with Joe Flacco. What was interesting is in Baltimore this
year you had crapture. You had John Brown. You know me,
I'm John Brown is one of those guys I on
my uh Man crushes from a fantasy football standpoint, but

(01:31:30):
love seeing what he could do in that offense. They
worked out field a bunch and it was successful. Crabtree
had stone hands at times, so you know, beset some
of their best off offensive output along the way. But
in Denver, this is where I thought he'd end up,
just from John Elway, shuffle up and deal of all right,

(01:31:52):
big arm with the thin air, but you gotta go
find the receivers. Now you've got Sutton, you'll get Sanders
back off his injury, and now he got a round
out your receiving corps. And obviously, but he just said
that done. He hasn't shown other than other than getting
Philip Lindsay because his mom wanted him to play closer
to home, and my mom did the jennything that helps

(01:32:15):
you get a guy that helps. But think about that,
that that he was also on a draft it makes
no sense. And then goes to the Pro Bowl and dominates,
and really he was one of the great stories during
the media week leading up to the Super Bowl. But
you know, John Elway, you just got the feeling that
no matter what Keenum did, even though he was on
the two year deal, still on the contract, so either

(01:32:36):
a pay cut or some low round draft picks come
back and trade to them that that they were going
to move on from him. And he's a guy that
through for yards, like quietly. He put up some numbers
with all of his receivers going down to injury, Lindsay
doing his thing out of the backfield runner receiver on occasion,

(01:32:58):
and a bad offensive line. So I can't lay it
at the feet of case Keenum fully right now. Now
you go to the well and you're gonna say, Okay,
I can resurrect Joe Flacco, and that's fine. I like
Joe Flacco. I think you had a situation here that
was just untenable. The way the team got constructed this year,
and Lamar Jackson coming in, he was fighting a losing

(01:33:19):
battle from day one. Every mistake magnified and you roll through.
And so now you've got scrangdeloh or yeah, sang Scangarrello. Sorry,
I gotta get his name. Scangarrello is your offensive coordinator.
It's like that that's a big law for name. He
got fan jail and Scangarrello. Oh, I'll tell you they're tough.
You gotta look out. They'll come after you. They've won

(01:33:41):
millions of dollars for their clients, no question about it.
But you know, he got a top ten passing yardage
number over the last two years. Out of the pot
pourri at quarterback for the San Francisco forty niners. They
only completed about sixty one of their past attempts, so
certainly some efficiency needs to be gained there. But when

(01:34:01):
you look at the way the a f C West
figures to play out, you're gonna open up the offense
and you're gonna need to start winging it. And if
your defense is up to the task, and Fangio gets
the best out of these guys and everybody wants to
stick around and go for another run together, then you're
gonna have opportunities for Flacco to be that veteran leader

(01:34:22):
in a reconstituted offense with an unproven guy. All right,
I mean he was a quarterbacks coach. He was not
the O C in San Francisco, so you're you're shuffling
up there. But for folks that want to pan it
all together, I don't think it's a monster move and upgrade,
but certainly you're just trying to make incremental uh at

(01:34:43):
at that position. You're not finding that star sitting out
on the waiver wire. It just doesn't happen in the NFL.

So well, that's a funny thing when we had Jason
Cole on for Dan when it was when it was

(01:39:14):
Ryan Hollins and I um Frostburg told me. He told
them in the morning, says, hey, so when you come on,
this show is a little more serious. So just so
you know, it's a little more serious. He came on
and I'm shocked he didn't hang up. No, he could
have hanging up on you. We actually told her. He
told her the fun thing. First thing was a couple

(01:39:34):
of really fun stories about guys who don't like to
wear their losers super Bowl rings. You know the rings
that you want to teach using the Super nine. It's
a loser ring. I'd like to wear it. So it
turned out it turned out pretty good. There's a lot
of guys that don't want to flash around. Their Winter's
gonna be a little more serious than when you really know.
I know, we finished, say no, I understand. No. We finished,
and he said goodbye, and you're missing something. You you

he didn't say lose my number. Yeah, but come on,
who else puts Jason Cole on and put them in
positions like this? He knows it'll be back to normal.
I listened to him. What did I hear him on once?
Like a year ago, he went on Rome, he went
on Jim Rome Show. And hearing him on on Rome,
it's like I'm listening to a like he sounded like
a professor. Yeah, but he sounds like he sounds like

(01:40:18):

and go, that's my professor. I mean, it's the best
fifteen minutes he has all week when he comes on

Maybe that's something I can do because he's a professor.
Rob Parker is a professor. Maybe I can do that. Well,

(01:40:39):
I've taught, I've actually taught radio, and you can do that.
Why not? Rob Parker tells me, not a lie, Not
a lie. Rob Parker teaches at USC and he does.
He tells me that he does a thing with his
students one time when he wants to get their attention
right away from being in the class. He he tells
him come in prepared for the hot take, and he
calls on people for hot takes, and they, you know,
give their hot take go and he grades it and

(01:41:01):
tells him. I'm like, yes, come on, that's not hot enough.
And I mean just think, you know when when you know,
think about this, when you're gonna have a hot take,
you need to yell. Jason's when when I was in college,
Right when I was in college, this is in the
early nineties, right when I was in college. You think
about what it's like for people who were over forty
to break into the business. Right, it was you had

(01:41:21):
to get out of college, you had to get a
job someplace small, you had to work your way up.
You do all of these things right, and now, because
of the way we are, you can get noticed in
Rob Parker's classroom, right, you can. You can be a
student at college and cover a game for one of
the ESPN plus minus division Square Root apps they have

(01:41:43):
and you, hey, oh you're on campus because we're not
gonna pay you, but you know you want to cover
the Syracuse game against Boston College. Yeah, you'll do a
stand up for us and report. It's like, you know,
I have to worry about, you know, trying to go
to Rochester and Ithaca to get a job and these people.
Oh yeah, I'm reporting on the North Carolina for north
for ESPN tonight. Oh hey, yeah, that's great, congratulations for you. Yeah.

(01:42:05):
It's a different world from where he came from. Oh
my god, it's insane. The world evolves, and you know
what we evolved with it. He can folks at Bay
continuing to get swolled, eating our carbs, gemming up with
our hot takes, and great debates and having our friends
on the show. That's they're friends of the show man
you no longer. I mean, they're not interviews and other conversations.

(01:42:27):
We'll get to James Harden coming up in a couple
of minutes, but just a couple of quick things on uh,
talking about Lamar Jackson and Joe Flacco, the fallout from
the Flacco trade of the Broncos today. You know one
thing that's underrated, that's really tough to do. This part
of this Flacco trade of the Broncos is that John
Harbaugh here he was. He and Joe Flacco were tied
at the hip. Yeah, and it was Flacco's basical his

(01:42:49):
entire career and I came together his entire career was
was John Harbaugh. And they went through the ups and
downs together, and he was Flacco's guy and Flacco was
his guy. They want us super Bowl. They had great times,
bad times, and then when it came time for Hardball
to choose in the middle of the season, normally the
guy says, I'm sticking with my quarterback for this year

(01:43:10):
and then after this season we can figure it out.
He knew if he stayed with Flacco, there was gonna
be so many other people in the organization that wanted
to see Lamar Jackson. If they got to the end
of the season, it would be clearly Jackson is not
hardballs guy. They would ask Lamar Jackson, how do you
feel against hardball? He would say, ah, I don't know.
I didn't really get a chance to do anything. They'd say,
you know what, we need a new coach to come

(01:43:30):
in for Lamar Jackson as we start over next year.
I would have been a clean stop. Knew some leaving.
You get rid of Flacco, you get rid of the coach.
It's Lamar Jackson ship. So he saw that ahead of
time and said, you know what, it stinks, but I'm
attaching myself to Team Lamar. And he did it. And
what happened. He kept his job because he showed I
can be on Lamar Jackson's side. I believe in this kid.

(01:43:52):
And now he doesn't have to go looking for a
new job. He keeps this job in Baltimore because he
made that tough decision. He kicked his Super Bowl winning
quarterback to the Curbans. Hey, you know what, We've had
great times together, but yeah, this is where the future
is and I gotta do it if I'm gonna stay here.
We go back to Nino Brown was self preservation, always business,
never personal. Am I my brother's keeper? Your fine all?

(01:44:14):
You know? I think my favorite part of New Jackson
was when who is the best friend called called Nino
Uh called his girlfriend's house that she knew. He knew
that she was messing around with him, and he calls
and says, Hey, it was something serious. Hey, put Nino
on the phone. Baby, he's here, I know. Just put
him on the phone and she just goes. He gives
a funk to him because he knew they were there

(01:44:36):
having that actually something really important. So that's a big
deal for Joe Flacco. Is for Lamar Jackson? Is that
John Hardball saw that and kept his job. Now for now,
for Lamar Jackson. I know there's a lot of people
who are anti Lamar jack In fact, Doug Gottlieb I
had a back and forth on Twitter today that was
phenomenal about Lamar Jackson doesn't believe in Lamar Jackson. Says,

(01:44:57):
Lamar Jackson is going to be too inaccurate. Uh now
gonna be able to get to that next levels of quarterback?
You know what yescent of his passes he completed this year.
But now he's got an entire offseason as the number one.
He doesn't need to complete sea most of the time,
can't hit the broad side of a barn. He's had
a hell of a run. You're gonna see Lamar Jackson's

(01:45:18):
gonna run the football fifteen to twenty times a game.
He's gonna run for a hundred yards a week. Now,
when you're doing that and every third play on offense
is Lamar Jackson run, you can complete fifty of your
passes and be successful. It's not the Lamar Jackson is
gonna turn into a three yard a game passer. But
if he runs for a hundred throws for two hundred,
the Ravens are gonna win a lot of games, and
Lamar Jackson will go to the Pro Bowl. You're giving him.

(01:45:40):
You threw him into that offense last year. You threw
him in and he got you to the playoffs. Joe
Flacco wasn't getting you to the playoffs. Lamar Jackson did.
He brought a new energy, a new skill set that
other teams can't account for. Sometimes you can't account for speed.
All he's gotta do is improve his completion percentage a
little bit, not to be up at but fifth the
eight percent, a little bit better than that, because, like

(01:46:02):
I said, when every third play is him running for
a first down, that's gonna be okay. It's gonna be
there as long as they keep him the quarterback that
he was. They don't try to move around say okay,
you gotta throw more from the pocket. Listen, your prime
maybe shorter, because when you're a running quarterback, obviously you're
gonna absorb more hits and your your peak will be
a little bit shorter. But he's not a hero runner.

(01:46:23):
He doesn't he doesn't seek out contact. He's fast enough
to get away from guys and slide, he runs out
of bounds. There's no reason why he can't stay around
really long and for long. I mean, you have a
nice five to seven year span of being in your
in your peak being an NFL quarterback because you stay
away from the hits, but still that running. That's gonna
take it till I'm not I'm not I'm not gonna

(01:46:43):
say it doesn't take at all. But that's what it's
gonna be to keep Lamar Jackson in his prime and
keep him at that level. So that's what you kind
of have to do with him. Yeah, just quickly too.
I mentioned Cam Newton. It's the same formula. You want
to change how he's going to play, you get a
lesser version of that player. Right when you wanted to
change Cam, it's not gonna work. Right, you're taking away

(01:47:05):
one of the big elements that is part of his game.
Lamar Jackson's not too far off physically from where Cam
Newton is so absorbed the hits, knowing that that shelf
life is gonna be a little bit shorter and you're
gonna maybe miss a little time to injury. But what
you can do is more dynamic with your offense if
you build it to his skill set. Twitter out, how
about a Fresco might get swollen dome? Why? And how

(01:47:28):
is James Hart and Michael Jordan's We'll tell you in
a minute, But first it's what's trending with Steve de
Seger as they The Broncos did acquire quarterback Joe Flacco
from Baltimore for a fourth rounder. He might reportedly need
to redo the final three years on his contract. Will
Denver still draft Missouri quarterback Drew Lock this year Jacksonville
resigned kicker Josh Lambeau a four year deal. Oregon will

(01:47:48):
reportedly part ways with defensive coordinator Jim Levitt. Brady Hokets
back at San Diego State as defensive line coach. Eleven
NBA games two in progress. Early fourth quarter at Portland,
it's the Blazers ahead of Golden State still one hundred
to ninety nine. Kevin Durant thirty two points for the Warriors.
Steph Curry with thirty two points. Clay Thompson two of
sixteen shooting for Golden State. He does have eight assists

(01:48:11):
and no turnovers. And mid fourth quarter in l A,
the Clippers whipping the Suns one seventeen to eighty seven.
This will be lost number fifteen in a row for Phoenix.
New York lost its eighteenth straight game, lost at home
to Philadelphia one to one eleven. Boston beat Detroit one,
eighteen to one. Ten. Kyrie Irving was out with his
strain knee. Toronto won as six straight game, beating Washington

(01:48:32):
one nine to one twenty and Kawhi Leonard of the
Raptors was out with his sore knee. Pascal Siakam at
forty four points. For Toronto, and Toronto did sign Jeremy Lynn,
who averaged eleven points per game with Atlanta. The Bucks
are still first in the East, still a game ahead
of the Raptors. Milwaukee one at Indiana one oh six
ninety seven that ends the six game winning streak of
the Pacers. Janis Autenant Coompo with a triple double including

(01:48:54):
nineteen rebounds. Denverse Nicola Yokich with a triple double including
eighteen boards in a comeback when against Sacramento one one.
Eighteen victories for Chicago and Miami Brooklyn one and triple overtime,
and Minnesota beat Houston one one to one eleven despite
forty two points from James Harden. In college basketball, Number one,
Tennessee won it's nineteenth straight game, beating South Carolina five

(01:49:17):
to seventy three. Yankees pitcher C C. Sabathia will announce
this weekend that will be his final season. Sabathia was
drafted in the first round over twenty years ago by Cleveland.
His career e r A and the major's three point
seven oh. He's only fourteen strikeouts away from three thousand
for his career. This week's PGA tournaments is in l A.
But the likely rain for tomorrow's first round as it

(01:49:39):
is still in the forecast, plus the chance of rain
there Friday as well. We'll be back to the show
in ten seconds. But first starward from farmers. From a
dog accidentally flooding a living room to a dog taking
a joy ride. If we've covered it, talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers
Struck Fire Insurance Exchange and affiliates products unavailable in every sty.

(01:50:00):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, back to you, Thank yous d.
Another big night for James Harden. Make it thirty one
straight games at the thirty Harden left side angle, which
on a seven points beard straight away looking for thirty
he's found it goes and it's out. Thirty one consecutive

(01:50:24):
games of thirty points for James Harden and more importantly
on four point opportunity. Well that's a lie. More importantly,
it was thirty one straight games for James hard And oh,
by the way, it was a four point I mean
that's really that's really the truth. That's a bonus. I
love it one and the bonus So for James Harden,

(01:50:47):
it's You're getting more difficult as every night goes on
to try to find something to say about the streak
that he has. But I'm gonna go back to Michael
Jordan's because yesterday he talked about the streaks that Westbrook
and Kevin during that Westbrook and Hardener having in which

(01:51:08):
they are both just passed Will Chamberlain obviously with the
thirty one game streak. Now for Hardened and Russell Westbrook
at tend straight triple doubles, both breaking records they held
with Will. Jordan was asked about the records that it's impressive,
but you know what's the most impressive is six rings.
You're saying, you know, these things are nice, but don't
forget I'm the greatest player to ever play. Yes, it's me,

(01:51:31):
and don't forget that because I have six rings. Meanwhile,
never mind, what would you expect from Michael Jordan's saying,
you know he credit not just that he always has
to remind you I'm the greatest player of all time. Yes, okay,
yes you were great, Michael. I understand, I get it,
But do you always have to keep saying that, yes

(01:51:51):
he is? He can't let go the fact that he's
not playing and he can't find anything that goes along
with being able to compete on a basketball court. He
still is still trying to find that, whether it's a
GM or an owner, and he's not succeeded at that,
and he's got to find a way to continue to
be and push those competitive juices. All right, that's what
he does. But I'll say this for Jordan's if Jordan

(01:52:15):
played today, you'll talk about being the best player ever.
If Jordan played today, he would be James Harden. Not defensively,
because we don't talk about defense obviously, Jordan talk about defense.
Everybody on Twitter today and we I talked about this
earlier tonight in the show and on Dan Patrick today
was like, oh, you're stupid. Jordan was a better better

(01:52:36):
We're not talking about defense. Nobody talks about defense. When
we say who's better Katie or Lebron, nobody says, well,
Katie is a better defensive No, nobody says, so just
stop because there's not a lot of loafing going on,
like Lebron has been doing. No, And look, and Harden
is not a great defensive player. They hide him a
bit because they do a lot of switching. He's not

(01:52:57):
He's not not a great defender. Come on, so okay,
because there's two pea. There's two kinds of defenders in
the NBA, the good ones and the guys who were okay,
and James Harden is okay. But offensively he's Jordan's because
one of Jordan's big patented things to do was always
to try to back down guys in the half court offense.

(01:53:19):
Right he'd be covered one on one because it was
hard to be able to to suck down and to
and to you know, try to put bodies on Jordan.
Because the way the rules were in the nineties and
early two thousand's when Jordan's played, that's the way it was.
You'd see him back smaller guards down and either make
a big spin move to the hoop. He had a
pass descent, he had a fade away jumper, which was
his signature. He had all of those things that he did.

(01:53:44):
He wouldn't be able to do that now because of
the way defense and playing defense has changed, Guys sag more.
There's more help defenders that would get down and make
it more difficult for Jordan to get to the rack.
On that big move. So what's gonna happens. It's not
that Jordan wouldn't score. When I say Jordan's Harden, it's
not like, what are you gonna go? Harden scoring over
thirty points a game. Although, by the way, he's doing

(01:54:04):
something that Michael Jordan never did with one straight games
of thirty or more points. So his shooting percentage would
go down a little bit because he would miss these
shots because guys would come down and they would help.
Now the flip side is he would take more threes
because this is the way the game is now, instead
of only taking a couple of games. Jordan would take
maybe seven or eight threes a game. Would he take twelve?

(01:54:27):
Probably not? Would he takes seven or eight? Sure, would
he hit a couple of them? Yeah. Jordan's fade away
is the same thing as hard and step back. It's
the same kind of unstoppable. What are you gonna do
when Jordan wants to do that? And when Harden wants
to do that, really, what can you do? So offensively,
they're both very similar. Jordan was still a guy that
would find players for baskets. He would still pull down rebounds.

(01:54:49):
James Harden is the same way. That stuff is negligible.
So offensively, what these guys did Jordan, if he was
playing now, would be James Harden. I appreciate that, and
certainly you're you're putting the defense off to the side.
We look at these shots per game, and the amount
of times he gets to the free throw line would
be curious to see in today's NBA, right, Jordan average

(01:55:10):
one point seven three point attempts per game for his
career average only about eight point five free throw attempts
per game. I mean, if he was getting to the yeah,
like if he's doing it, would be he'd he'd be
at the line more. He'd make a couple more threes,
but a shooting percentage would go down. And I appreciate
you know the Hey Jordan never did this. I'm questioning

(01:55:31):
in today's day and age, where we throw up streaks
like we but I mean we throw those up everywhere. Hey,
there are nine games in a row where this guy's
taken at least fifteen shots. I mean, we've got that
at our fingertips. And if Michael Jordan's just knowing Michael
Jordan and look at what he did with this, Hey,
you can choose between ten triple doubles in a row

(01:55:54):
or thirty thirty point games, like, well, they're both great,
that's fine. Hey, six rings immediately goes to that. But
if he thought that this kind of thing would be celebrating,
you don't think he would have been going after this
every night, and guys of that era wouldn't have been
trying to just have random streaks like this. I think
it's the proliferation of our media culture and needing to

(01:56:15):
have more lower thirds in the later part of games
of Hey, there's a streak, there's another street. They've held
their opponents to, you know, nine of ten, like we
do it in the fantasy world all the time when
you're trying to talk trends and and everything else. But
I think the comparison's app you talk, the rebounds and
assists are very similar. You know, part of me wanted

(01:56:36):
to throw Carmelo, Anthony or Allen iverson atcha just by
volume shooting and taking care of but that would have
meant that Mello would have had to pass the ball
twitter at how about a fresco Mike had swollen down
the Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen coming up next,
the game you didn't know you needed, But you have
to have the jose Canseco Twitter game. Oh yeah, sure

(01:56:59):
to live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike

Mike Harmon Fox Sports Radio. Because it was so great
we did earlier in the show. We're gonna bring it
back again. Double up the game you didn't know you wanted,
but the game you absolutely need. The jose Canseco Twitter game.
Do you think if he played it he'd know which

(01:57:43):
were real and which were followed? Maybe not. We had
the Magic Johnson Twitter game for a while. That was awesome.
Then he stopped tweeting and just started tampering. Is this
where we guess what number of tweets are on steroids?
And this is where I give you a tweet from
jose cans Echo, and you tell me if it's a
real tweet or if it's a tweet I made up?

(01:58:03):
We ready playing? Is Mike Carman justin Frostburg? Steve de
Seger hoping for a better round the second time round,
really was flummixed by this game. That ye can't help you?
All right? Hey, how is a Consaco? Is this real
or not? I'm not sure about that one. Another way

(01:58:25):
to live part of him? Are we talking about his calves?
Are definitely vake? Another way to live thirty years longer?
You must have sex at least three times a week?
Yes or not? I thought he said thirty times a week,
and then he said Happy Valentine's Day, everybody three times
a week? Is that a Conseco tweet? That is a

(01:58:46):
jose body very nice. Come play golf with me and
learn about aliens and time traveling. Yeah, it's jose Can
Saco tweets. It's got aliens in it. Yes, If it's not,
it will be all right. That is jose Canseco tweet.
Very nice. Anyone wants to go snake and scorpion hunting

(01:59:10):
excursion in the Arizona Desert followed by a campfire cook
contact Morgan with a phone number. I did that. I'm
gonna say, no anyone, Well, maybe we are. We offer
that snake and scorpion hunting excursion in the Arizona Desert,
followed by a campfire cook contact Morgan. That might be
Steve McMichael. He's all about Vegas. So I'm gonna say, oh,

(01:59:32):
that is not We're on a roll now. Boys, You've
already time traveled, but you don't know it. When you're unconscious,
your brain moves across waves to the past and future.
We'll have the technology to harness it. Yeah. I mean,
I don't know about the year part, but the rest
of that sounds not too many big words. You've time traveled,

(01:59:54):
but you don't know it. When you're unconscious, your brain
moves across waves to the past and future. Will have
the technology to harness it. He did use the word harness. No, No,
I made that one up. I think the harness I
have the final page of the script of the final
episode of Game of Thrones. I'll autograph it for you

(02:00:16):
was part of the deal, called Morgan. No, that sounds
like you. I don't watch Game of Thrones. Yeah you did.
You were all about it. Of the script of the
autographic for you was part of the deal. How would
he have that? No, how would he have sake exactly?

(02:00:38):
Not a real jose Can sac pretty good, though one's
cloning is legal, will be able to purchase bodies of
ourselves in our prime? One's cloning is legal, will be
able to purchase bodies of ourselves in our prime? I can,
but I wanted to be true. That is a real

(02:00:58):
jose Can Saco tweet. Wow, that's a real tweet. And
as you yell, Steve Kerrs just used the F bomb
about nineties seven times and he got himself ejected and
he will not leave the court. As the Warriors trail
the Blazers. So I guess the game's over seven because

(02:01:19):
you had a squirrel moment. No, that's not a squirrel moment. Squirrel, squirrel.
We have a squirrel moment coming up next. We're gonna
squirrel next. Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of

the fourth quarter, Golden State is getting thumped forty five
seconds left to go. Portland's leads the Warriors one twenty
nine to one oh five. Things have gotten really testy.

(02:02:32):
Steve Kirk was thrown out a few moments ago, and
I will tell you this. Portland's got a twenty four
point lead and they just took a three to give
to put the lead. It was, they were up by
twenty one. They just took a three to give them
a twenty four point lead. Then instead of dribbling out
the clock, they just took another three and missed it.

(02:02:54):
So all they gotta do is just dribble the ball out.
The game's over. But instead Portland's going up the were
and they're shooting threes with time left on the clock,
and all I gotta do is dribble it out, so
the clock is about to hit zero. I don't know
you're gonna see handshakes after this game. The Warriors go
down one nine, one oh seven, and Steve Kerr, with

(02:03:15):
about four minutes left to go in this game, was
thrown out. And I don't know that he's been that
upset since he was the only person being interviewed for
the next job. You know what that was when I
declared him the smartest man alive, five million dollar deal,
said now I'm good. You want to hear how it happened.
This is Steve Kerr getting ejected. You're cool, you know

(02:03:43):
he did. He did drop a few f bombs well,
and he got run pretty fast so well because he
walked over the official he said, are you are you
blanking kidding me? That's blanking blank blank, And the official
just said you're gone. That's it, and he got eject.
Did just got arrested. But I'm gonna say he maybe, yeah,

(02:04:05):
maybe he was might have gotten angry enough. I mean,
he did throw his entire clipboard down, really man, and
he got double team when he got thrown out. We're
talking three fifty four left in the game. It was
a seven point game. It was clear everything was closed.
And then the Portland Trail Blazers went on a huge
run and they win the game. Watch Out, watch out.

(02:04:31):
That's how it went down. Decendi Area. You saw a
couple of hard fought and look, and this is clearly
when you see the replay, and I've now watched it
a number of times. We have here in the studio
that that's a reputation call. And Draymond Green, if ever
there was in terms of the flagrant fall, he basically
stopped in the man in his tracks and just wasn't

(02:04:52):
gonna let him have a layup, and because he got
turned around, it became a flagrant fall. We actually do
have the all of Steve ejected, so if you want
to take a listen, it's right here. Just got ejected changed.
It is a flat red ball and necessary physical contact

(02:05:14):
against Draymond Green. Steve Kerr is going nuts. Oh he
just slammed down the board, he gets a technical, he
might get broad. He does, and you rarely see Steve
Kerr get that He's still done. We All Star Break

(02:05:39):
starts earlier than Steve Kerr was anticipate. There we go.
You know what I like. You can actually here on
the broadcast the slamming of the clipboard. It sounded like
a slat. Not that was was it? That is fake news.
You are fake news, Alex Tichert fake news. Here and
again listen, you can hear him slam the clipboard out

(02:06:00):
on the ground. Has changed, Lord, It is a play
room call, a necessary physical contact against Draymond Green. Steve
Kerr is going nuts. Hoh he just my day. You
hear it raises here, you hear Steve Kerr is going nuts,
and you hear the clipboard hit the ground one more time.

(02:06:21):
Has changed, Lord, It is a flat room call, a
necessary physical contact against Draymond Green. Steve Kerr is going nuts.
Ho he just slow man and there it's like a
w W when you hear guys in the turn get
hit with a chair. Oh my goodness, he's hit someone
with a chair. I'll tell you what. He looked like

(02:06:42):
a guy that needed to be. You would have me
and Gene in the ring going, oh my godness, like
Steve Kerr, he's lost it, you know. Uh, just yesterday
Zoe saw for the first time She's ten a little
bit of the end of Naked Gun, right. It just
so happened to be on and I had and I'm
watching it, and she was like, Dad, what is this?
And she's watched he starts laughing hysterically because it's all

(02:07:04):
slapstick commedy and everything else. And if you remember how
it ends, in the end, there's a big brawl. Reggie
Jackson is you know, programmed to shoot the queen. But
there's a big baseball brawl and she starts laughing hysterically,
and I'm like, what's so funny? What do you think
is funny about this? And she goes watch that, Go
go back, go back, what does it? Watch what the
one guy does in the in the fight? So I'm
looking back, I'll go back and see she was watching

(02:07:25):
the guy right here, right here, and it's one of
the one of the baseball players comes out with a
chair and the players over the head with the Mariners
and the Angels in a brawl, and he just it's
one of the players. She goes that he hit him
with a chair. I said, yeah, that's okay. Ye wait
and get to get her introduced to the ladder matches
and the Extreme Wrestling of ECW all those years ago. Yeah,

(02:07:48):
that No, that escalated quickly. I mean there was showing,
there was a lot of jostling down low, and they
were calling it tight, so you know, bodying up and frustrations.
But Steve Kerr that that call. Look, it's a terrible call.
He's gonna get fined. He's gonna go, I'm sure, to
the podium and have some choice words for the officials.

(02:08:09):
Remember Joel Ebid got fined twenty five grand for saying
six words. Yeah, that's a pretty hefty fine. You can
get his money worth at all. Steve Kerr, no doubt
will He's like, look, if I'm gonna take a k
there's four minutes soliloquy. Yeah, he'll get it. You know,
he'll get in on a lot of different things too.
It's not just gonna be about the officiating. He's gonna

(02:08:30):
it's be a why It'll be like Steve Kerr State
of the Union, because you know he's gonna get in
on everything. There's a lot from this past week. I mean,
he can certainly wax poetic on a lot. So I
ask you this now, Yeah, more expletives. Steve Kerr getting
tossed Jay Glazer on Twitter today, which one which one?
Which one? Which one? Jay Glazer? Because we can confirm

(02:08:52):
those I think ear and you and I knowing Jay Glazer,
there's a few more that are in there, but not
in there. Earlier today, Jay Glazer put his mail bag
out on Twitter when when readers and and Twitter followers
get to ask questions and Jabe you know, puts him
in and in and answers him. And one of the
questions from a Twitter follower was, Jay, you know you

(02:09:14):
have a big, bold prediction for us for the offseason,
And his bold prediction was that the Giants would trade
Odell Beckham Jr. Right now. For the longest time, I
have said the Giants need to do this. They shouldn't
have given him money. He's not worth it what he
brings to you on the field with everything else that
comes off of it. And part of the off the
field is on the field stuff, because part of it
is not being able to stay healthy dropping passes. So

(02:09:37):
we didn't drop as many this year. Um, the Giants
aren't winning with him, and what he brings you is discord.
He's already bigger than the team. Didn't get along with
Pat Shermer. They paid him and he still stayed the
same guy. So really, is that really worth it when
you want to build around see Kwon Barkley and whoever
you're taking a quarterback this year. So but now here's

(02:09:58):
Jay saying the Giants could do it like you were
a guy for the stars all the time, right, I
tell you all the time, Odell has been the guy
in your cross. You don't need him. He doesn't. He
doesn't help you win. You finished poorly with him. He
doesn't finish seasons anymore. He gets hurt, He does too
many things that rips your team apart that you have

(02:10:18):
to deal with knucklehead stuff. And he's not gonna change
because you paid him. But Jay apparently got the same
kind of hate that I got when we started talking
about Odell Beckham. People were saying things about him on
Twitter and family members that he didn't like. Here's Jay's
tweet in response to people who didn't like his prediction
the Giants to trade Odell Beckham Jr. Apparently a lot

(02:10:40):
of upset Giants fans for all you blank sticks who
speed blanket me my kid, my mom my mom's kid,
my kid's mom my head size, body size, intelligence, my
mom's intelligence, all because I made a prediction about your
team today. Save your ridiculous blanking insults for that blank

(02:11:00):
that matters in life, Jay Glazer. Everybody that is a
flamethrower takedown, and I like that to use blank stick.
That's one you don't hear very and that's a pretty
good you know, I gotta say, of of the curse words,
you know, that one is one of those that's always underappreciated. Well,
there's some out here and we're in southern California for
those that don't know. Thanks for giving us a few

(02:11:21):
minutes of your time. We appreciate you. As you're out
and about, probably shopping for Valentine's Day on do it
get it done before tomorrow so you're not standing in
line like a dope public service announcement. But for Jay Glazer,
I mean for him to to finally pop like this,
How how long has he held those in? Because he'll
give you something on Twitter every once in a while,

(02:11:42):
or sometimes it's just if you check Twitter at the
wrong time and you're in the wrong frame of mind,
it can happen. It's like you know, they say, you know,
don't tweet drunk or there's many things you shouldn't do drunk,
but like you know, don't you need that. Don't make
late night phone calls, don't call people when you're drunk,
don't call ex girlfriends, don't do any of this. Have
but sometimes if you're just not that you're drinking, I

(02:12:02):
don't mean that, but I mean, like, just to give
an example to just if you just hit Twitter at
the wrong time and you see the wrong thing, you
see two or three people or ten people saying really
bad things, you're like that you can just snap and
say you know what, blank you and you go on.
And especially when you bring the family into it, right,
It's one thing if it's attacking me and just saying, hey,
you're fat, which is usually the argument I get when

(02:12:23):
people don't like something I've said here, like okay, fine,
I'll go to the gym again. Thank you for the
encouragement for me to continue the road to swoll. I mean,
it's okay people making fun of the size of my
calves saying they're not real and not impressive. All right,
we gotta get back to the gym and Quadzilla. But
for Jay Glazer, you push the button, but there's some

(02:12:43):
elements of the Odell Beckham side of this that are
really curious in terms of well does how does it
match up with your predictions? Low and hold these last
eight team months. We'll have more on Odell coming up

that thing survived. But and you can sell it on

talk some National Football League. We got big stories today.
Gonna kick it off of the Joe Flacco story traded
to the Broncos for a mid round pick. No one
better to get their reaction than Jason Locking for CBS

(02:14:49):
Sports NFL Insider, who is actually leaving CBS for a
sabbatical so we can go cover Tim Tebow's season with
the Syracuse Smets. You you got it, Tim? J How
you doing? Hey, what's going on? I actually covered him? Uh,
I went up to was it Hagerstown, Maryland? When he

(02:15:12):
was in the South Atlantic League with I don't know
if it was the some kind of bug was the
team's were the Firefly Yeah, yeah, yeah, And it was
a total s show up there. I mean, people waiting
for the bus and everything. It was pretty amazing. And
then we were supposed to see him in the Eastern
League last year, but I feel like he got hurt

(02:15:33):
before we were before. Yeah, he got hurt before they
came to Bowie. The Orioles double a team here in
Maryland where where we go to a ton of games.
So I am very fired up for the start of
baseball season, and mostly from minor league baseball season, because
the Orioles are going to lose a hundred games. Again,
you're gonna say mostly minor league baseball because I'm going
to see the Orioles players. Yeah, and then it'll be

(02:15:55):
the equivalent of four a ball when I go to
camyon yard Ts starting in right field. He's a lock.
It for not that bad. Thanks thank god. It will
never be that bad, all right. So what do you
make of the results of this trade today? I like
the fact that Broncos went out and got Flacco, just
because I don't know who else they would have gone
out to. Get it was better than Flacco if they
wanted to improve the quarterback spot. I don't know that

(02:16:17):
Flacco is better than Keenom though, you know. I mean
that's I think ultimately what it comes down to, and
how much better at this point in his career And
specifically when you look at the war to that team,
which is the offensive line, um, not a lot of
outside receivers who are going to win. You know, Amanuel
Sanders are winning the slot, but not not a tight
end really to to speak of, or a stretch the

(02:16:38):
field tight end, and and nobody on the outside. And
Flacco when when he's been good, it's been because he
does have a cast around him and it's not there,
and and he's been hurt the better part of three
seasons now. And nobody in the NFL has thrown more
road interceptions than Joe Flacco since the Ravens won that
Super Bowl. And I don't know, man, I think they

(02:17:01):
kind of probably need a moving pocket. And yeah, they
can run the ball a little bit, but if this
is who they are offensively, I'm not sure that they're
gonna be able to protect well enough for Flacco to
have five and seven step drops and beat people with
play action and all that stuff. Um, you know, he's
basically making the same money as Keenum. But the problem
is they're stuck with both of them. And I don't
think they're gonna be able to trade keenom because he's

(02:17:21):
got seven million guaranteed on that contract. It's still a
lot of money, and everybody knows he's gonna get cut. Um.
If I was Denver, I mean, what's the harm in
letting this play out a little bit and seeing if
you can get him cheaper or just force the Raven's hand,
Because just like Denver's situation with Keenum, they're not going
to keep Joe Flacco around when they have to be

(02:17:42):
capped compliant. In the middle of March, they had to
cut him, and from what I gathered, nobody else was
offered more than maybe a six or seven, and they
just weren't that many teams that need a quarterback. So
at the end of the day, guys, I think Denver
is still taking Drew Lock in the first round. I
just don't think he's playing this year. He's probably playing
next year. But John always track record with quarterbacks I

(02:18:03):
don't believe will look better after this transaction. There you
go rolling the dice one more time, the lock tweet
gets out about how much he loves him, and everything
flows from there. I like Courtland Sutton, but he's just
a guy. Everybody else is hurt. So a lot to
rebuild there in Denver. All right, So earlier this week, look,
the NFL finally rose up. Right, it was the NBA's

(02:18:26):
time during Super Bowl week, and all of a sudden
we got trade talk and signings. So let's start with
Kareem Hunt going to the Cleveland Browns. They already have Chubb,
they have Duke Johnson, and you bring in Hunt on
a minimal deal. Uh, sound investment, but the timing curious
from where I sit. Yeah, I mean, look, they basically
have his rights for four years. They've got him this

(02:18:48):
year on a dirt cheap, one year, one million dollar deal,
and that if he hits all his incentives, then you've
got him as a restricted free agent the year after that,
and then you've got him on potentially to franchise tags
if you wanted to go that route. So if and
Chubb's a guy who had his injury issues in college.
So and Freddy Kitchens, Todd munkin very innovative offensive minds

(02:19:10):
on that staff. You've got a quarterback who's tremendously well
versed in the air raid and RPO concepts and mesh
points and doing cute stuff at the line of scrimmage.
And imagine Kareem Hunt in the same backfield with Nick
Chubb on a handful of players, or Kareem Hunt then
Duke Johnson in the same backfield. They don't have a
lot of guys who went on the outside just yet.

(02:19:30):
We'll have to see what Callaway becomes. Obviously Jarvis Landry
in the slot, and Joe who's an emerging tight end.
They've got a solid offensive line. This is this is
John Dorsey buying low on an individual who he's known
since he was an underclassman at Toledo and since you
know he's first got on the chief scouting radar. So

(02:19:50):
I'm not surprised. Dorsey is the ultimate gambler when it
comes to character risks, and this was a by low probability.
I don't know the Kareem Hunt spends multiple seasons there. Heck,
they could trade him in season before this year's trade deadline.
Remember a year ago he signs Carlos Hide, then he
draft Chubb, and he's able to flip Hide for a
decent pick to Jacksonville when Jacksonville's in dire straits um

(02:20:13):
with for Nette being down in season. So I get it.
And and if you know the young man stays out
of trouble and doesn't have an incident like this again,
you might be able to flip him for a whole
lot more than what it took you to sign him.
Jason Locke and for a CBS Sports NFL Insider with
Us at Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen, Fox Sports Radio.
All right, Joy, you ever see one of those movies

(02:20:34):
where where the main character keeps having this vision and
he tells people about it and everybody goes, yeah, I
don't know, you might be crazy, is no? I keep
seeing these things. I'm gonna tell you about a vision.
I keep having you tell me if this is when
it comes true? All right? I see the press conference.
I see them standing behind in front of the logo,
and I see Antonio Brown and Levy on Bell holding
up twenty and eighty four Jets Jerseys smiling for the

(02:20:57):
camera again. They're saying, Hey, the hundred million the that's
that they spend it all on us. Tell me if
that is going to be a vision that comes true.
I think the Levy on bell portion ultimately comes true.
The problem is you've got to trade for both of
those guys. And you know the Steelers are gonna put
that transition tag on Levan Bells. I reported to the

(02:21:17):
Super Bowl that's not going to change, and they're gonna
you know, they're not giving Antonio Brown away. I don't
know the draft capital to pull all that off. And
I also think that when they, you know, they're assessing
their their roster, they've kind of really decent group of young,
cheap tight ends. And I mean, I'm sorry, I have
wide receivers and I don't know that Antonio Brown inserting
him into that group right now. Robby Anderson has been

(02:21:40):
kind of volatile at times, who I don't know that,
and you know, Sam Donald, young quarterback. I'm not sure
they go that route. I'd be surprised. And also, the
Steelers don't want to trade Antonio Brown in the a
f C if they don't have to, but I don't
think they're gonna have to. I think you've got the Saints,
the Eagles, maybe the Bears, maybe the Packers, Seahawks. There's

(02:22:01):
any number of teams who Antonio Brown can maybe put
over the top in the opposite conference. Um, but I
do think it Jet's come away with one of those two.
I like that. Alright, alright, alright. And we saw a
series of tweets, Uh insider for Fox J Glazer putting
out the potential of O'Dell Beckham Jr. Being traded. O'Dell

(02:22:24):
on Twitter puts up the emoji of the zippered lips
and then like that smiling cheeks blushing. What do you
make of that? Jay? Anything there? There's something could happen there.
I mean Wayne Gretzky got traded twice, right sore pointing
anything could happen. Um. I reported in season last year

(02:22:46):
that that there was a group of Giants receivers who
felt like this was diminishing returns with Eli, that he's
throwing a lot of medicine balls, that he can't even
throw a screen pass without dudes having to leave their
feet and be you know, vulnerable to kill show and
that they were looking to see other options there. And
it doesn't mean that they don't draft a quarterback sixth overall,

(02:23:07):
And and he beats Eli out and away we go,
and I think Haskins will very much be on the
radar um. I mean, could it happen, Yeah, I don't
think it will. At the end of the day. That's
a team that still seems to be in a motive
we think we can win something right now. You're gonna

(02:23:27):
get draft picks for Beckham in all likelihood, not players
to help you right now. And I think if you
are bleeding a younger quarterback in then why are you
going to start taking away assets from him? So I
think they draft a quarterback at six. I think that
quarterback beats Eli out in the early part of the season,
kind of like Eli once took over for a Kurt Warner.

(02:23:48):
And I think they want to have as many weapons
on offense as possible. A lastly, Jason we we saw
earlier today charges g M Tom Salasco saying that hey,
he sees the a A after New Alliance of American
Football as theater league towards the NFL. Now, I know
the big a FN you are. You do a f
fantasy Actually you run your own league. Can't get enough.
You give fantasy tips all throughout the week on Twitter.

(02:24:10):
I know how are on it. Do you see that
eventually that's what happens. The a F is here and
people like enough of it that it becomes a true
NFL minor league. I think it could reach a point
where league the league, you know, four teams, it gets
to be an eight team whatever it is now, maybe
it multiplies to sixteen teams, and every NFL team sends

(02:24:31):
you know, four or eight players from its January futures
contracts or from last year's practice squad or whatever to
a particular team, and it works sort of like affiliates
do in minor league hockey or split affiliates. But I
still think in all likelihood it's rounding out the back
end of rosters and not really the top end of rosters.

(02:24:51):
I think they may be able to help develop and
cultivate and incubate guys who play special teams who are
back you know, good backups, but backups here are they're
I don't know that it's going to have the star
power to make it economically unless it, you know, unless
somehow they are finding um guys who become star quarterbacks

(02:25:15):
are guys who were star quarterbacks in college. I'm more
intrigued about this Pacific pro league that's set to start
UM in June July, because they're going right after the
n c a A and they're going after the best
eighteen nine year old football players in America and saying,
come here, we'll pay you a legitimate salary. You'll own

(02:25:35):
your marketing and merchandising rights from the guinea up. You
can sell your likeness, you can you can have people
pay you for autographs. You can do all the stuff
that you know, do with commercials, do all the stuff
that UM professional athletes do. Will give you money towards tuition,
will pay for your books, will cover your insurance, and
every single every single practice we have in the spring
will be like a Senior Bowl. Every single day. The

(02:25:57):
NFL would be invited their GM scouts everybody else to
check you out all through the week and then be
their own game day as well. I wonder if if
that's the model that works the way the World Hockey
Association wants to challenge the NFL, the way that Joe
Namath once said, I'm gonna go, you know, apply my
trade in the a f L instead of the NFL.

(02:26:19):
We've seen that model make things happen and short of
sort of rattle, the status quo and other sports, and
I think that league has the potential to do it
much more than the Alliance does or the XFL does.

the Portland Trailblazers. You're here him slam his clipboard and
what he had to say after coming up in a minute.
But first, here's special delivery Steve to Seger who actually now,
I don't want to say anything, but I've seen Steve

plus a chance of rain there Friday. Also, Tiger Woods

in the late game in the NBA at Portland was
dominated in the fourth quarter by the Blazers, eventually beating

(02:28:33):
Golden State one one oh seven, ending the Warriors five
game winning streak and Golden States now only two games
over the Nuggets, who came back to win over Sacramento.
Golden State only scored twelve points in the last twelve
minutes of this game. Tonight, Clay Thompson finished two of
sixteen shooting from the floor center and his cantor did

last week. Knicks lost their eighteenth straight game, lost at

(02:28:56):

lost badly in l A to the Clippers one thirty four,
one oh seven wins from Miami, Chicago and Minnesota, which
beat Houston eleven despite forty two points from James Harden,
he had six assists six turnovers, now thirty one straight
games with at least thirty points in each, and for

(02:29:16):
the Rockets in the loss from three point range, they
were nineteen for fifty three from long distance. Boston with
a win Toronto one at sixth straight Milwaukee got a
road win. The Bucks are still first in the East,
still a game ahead of the Raptors, and tonight's win
at Indiana, breaking a Pacers six game winning streak. Janna's
attendant Compo did have a triple double including nineteen rebounds,
and Brooklyn won in triple overtime at Cleveland. We'll be

(02:29:39):
back to the show in ten seconds, but first, a
word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a living
room to a dog taking a joy ride, if we've
covered it, talk to farmers. We know a thing or two.
Because we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers
under written my farmers drop fire insurance exchange cent afil.
It's a products unavailable in every state. Only three NBA

All Star Game is in Charlotte on Sunday nights. Jason Smith,
Mike Carman, Back to you, Thank yous d Live from
The Guy Goes Studios, The Jason Smith Show. I'm Jason.
The man on my left is my best friend, Mike Harmon. Hi, everybody.
So tonight Steve Kerr had him melt down and got ejected.
Here's the background with just four minutes left to go

(02:30:21):
in the Blazer's blowout victory what turned into a blot
victory over the Warriors. They were up seven at the time.
Steve Kerr gets ejected and things go crazy from there
and the Blazers wind up winning by four. But you're
gonna hear it right now. This is the sound of
Steve Kerr getting ejected right after he found out he

(02:30:41):
was traded to the Knicks to become their head coach.
Nothing has changed. It is a flavoring and necessary physical
concept against Draymond Green. Steve Kerr is going nuts. Oh
he's just slang down the board. He gets a technical
he might get through. He does, and you rarely see

(02:31:07):
Steve Kerk get that. He's still gonna we All Star
break starts earlier than Steve Kerr was anticipated. So there's
the call right there Blazer's Radio network. You can hear
Steve Kerr slam his clipboard down on the ground. That

(02:31:29):
is a difficult that's a bad night for you know.
You wake up, you're the clipboard. You're like, hey, this
is pretty exciting. I'm gonna be Steve Kerr's clipboard. He's
bragging into the other clipboards in the locker room. Yeah,
they're gonna use me to night. Well, you're back here
with like the shoot around schedule or who's doing laundry?
I would be Steve Kerr's clipboard. Then you get worked
and broken and suddenly it's ah, not so tough. How

(02:31:50):
are you So is that clipboard day to day? I mean,
it's not a long All Star break to recover. I
think you're hoping that clipboard can come back. And if
that clipboard comes back any time this season, it's a bonus.
But if you're a top of sales marketing for the
company that supplies Steve Kerr's clipboard, aren't you trying to
find out? It's where endurability is fast? Getting that survived right?

(02:32:13):
And then I'm putting out a press release. This is
a type of blows that you can do to our
clipboards and they keep working. They'll still be ready for
you to dominate your next meeting or if you're a
coach the sidelines. Either way, we got a long All
Star break for that clipboard to recover. So what did
Steve Kerr have to say following the game. Well, he

(02:32:34):
actually walked into this post game scrumb and the first
thing he said is get the blank out of my way,
because you know, except without saying blank. He did drop
a lot of f bombs during the tirade during the game,
So here he was meeting reporters and trying to figure
out why he got ejected, why he didn't get an explanation.
All the good stuff that set I was just chucked.

(02:32:59):
That was called the flagrant foul. I'm not sure how
it's determined. I don't remember if it's determined in New
York or if it's uh the officials on the floor.
But that's uh. That was head scratching that that called
the flagrant foul. I mean, the guy's gonna go in
for a dunk, you got to make sure he doesn't
dunk it. So I told Kenny that I begged to

(02:33:21):
differ the clipboards Spike. I forgot about that part. There
might have been a couple of other words in there too.
Is that better than the than the break? Is what?
I don't know. I'm gonna have to ask the odor
of the clipboard broke when I threw it down. But
I got a little anger out, so that was good

(02:33:43):
for I was too busy yelling to ask for that.
But I'm really proud of our guys. A battle like crazy, Um,
you know, really tough schedule game at the back to
back with three guys out, and I thought our guys

(02:34:04):
really fought. One of the reasons I was frustrating because
he was you know, our guys were fighting. We were
scrapping and clawing and uh, you know, tough one. But
sway goes. But I'm really pleased with where we are
at the Elstar break and everybody's gonna get a chance
to get away a little bit and come back from
this trap. So there you go. There is Steve Carr,

(02:34:27):
A little bit calmer Steve Carr. This is kind of
what you expect. He's not someone that loses his mind
on the court and then you know it goes off
and does it a post game. But you know, it's
interesting when he said you what about the clipboards, say, oh,
I forgot about that, because sometimes, and it's happened to me.
I'm sure it's happened to you where you get so
mad about something and you yell at you say something,
and someone says to you, dude, I can't believe you

(02:34:49):
did that. You sometimes you can't come back like I
did that. I did do that. Oh my god, you're right,
I did do that. I forgot. Oh wow, and then
you feel bad, You feel worse about like I wonder
if he remembers strowing the clipboard down and slamming. Maybe not.
You have that moment that you just so enraged and
your first thought is, all right, I gotta get to

(02:35:09):
the official and give him a piece of my mind.
So whatever you're freeing yourself, you go to do your
gestures with your hands. Not that you're gonna flip him
off or anything, but you know, you're just like you.
You're excitable, and you're you're speaking with your hands, You're emphatic.
It's a frustrating first half for Steve Kerr, whose Golden
State Warriors are Oh my goodness. They go to the

(02:35:31):
break still in first place in the West, coming off
of four straight finals appearances and three titles. Oh the
first world problems of Steve Kerr. How do I keep
the season entertaining? How do I make sure my players
are motivated? Don't you feel sorry? He goes out in style.
You know what I'm done. I'm starting the all start breaker,

(02:35:52):
I'm duller a minute mark, I'm out looking away seven
point game at the time, he got ejected and turned
into the burial that it was Kevin Durand and everything
he could to get him off the court. Draymond Green
still was instigating the final four minutes, surprised he didn't
get run and that there wasn't more of a dust
up because he he started throwing some bows down. Like

(02:36:14):
to think, if you're a Warriors player or coach, and
anytime you get ejected in the game, that Draymond Green
is not ejected, you gotta look in the mirror and go, Okay,
I was out of control. You got a little far, Draymond.
If Draymond found a way to stay in the game,
and I did, I all right, I think I gotta
I did back off for a few minutes. Yeah. For
Steve Kerr, that auto body experience there for that moment,

(02:36:35):
everybody's had him. Wherever you are pause, take a deep breath.
So awful. It's so to try to move back from it.
I feel so badly for the Warriors in their first
world problem. Twitter At how about a fresco Mike get
swollen downe The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmen coming up next, the play of the Night.
You gotta hear it because well, I think it's factually incorrect,

(02:36:58):
plus the only thing that knocked the Joe Flacco trade
off of Twitter today? What was it? Find out next
on Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app. From a dog accidentally flooding a living

(02:37:21):
room to a dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two. Because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under written,
my farmers truck fire insurance, exchanges and affiliates, products unavailable
in every state. Oh, we don't get to stick with
I like paper and I don't want to hear you
saying boo. But it's a slide over baby hour, that's

(02:37:42):
just move. I hate tight shirt and I hate tight shirt,
and I hate tight shirt and I hate tight I
don't know if I like the remix. You know Alex
Tisher actually had a piece of pizza tonight on the show. Well,
I've bought a pizza before. Yeah, uh, they that's breaking new. Well,
we told you was vegan pizza. Yeah you did it,

(02:38:03):
wasn't it. We just told you you had real cheese.
You had real cheese. I don't believe it. Don't you
feel great? I feel terrible. You got got, you got gott.
We replaced the fine vegan cheese that is eating away
at tight shirts bones and replace it with real cheese.
It has calcium and other good things for your body.
Fake news. Calcium is not good for you those parts.

(02:38:24):
Calcium is not good. Forums good. Not from a cow though, Okay, okay,
from from where? Then? There's many places. Get calcium from where?
From a paddle? I mean almonds. There's a lot of
calcium and almonds. Yeah, but get calcium and milk. Now,
don't drink milk. Don't drink milk. Milk is bad. Now,
drink beer. Milk is from baby. How is milk propaganda?
What do you mean milk is propaganda? So all the

(02:38:44):
kids in the world drinking milk, don't your arms don't
fall off if you don't drink milk. Don't believe it.
No one said, wow, wow, that was dark. What do
you mean you haven't seen those milk commercials about people's
arms falling on They look out the window. The guy's
doing the lawn work and his arms fall off because
he couldn't pick it up and then they start drinking milk.

(02:39:04):
It's milk. Welcome to the Alex TI shirt. So, Alex,
what do you have to say tonight? First? Open things up? Well,
I want to start by saying, no milk, John things.
Anything you eat will kill you. Doesn't matter what it is,
it will kill you. I want to know if he
was hanging out with JSAC and Sako uh that you

(02:39:25):
have to say you know eating aliens is not healthy.
Either you know too much salt and aliens or something.
Don't blame me. I voted for Kodos. Time now for
our Play of the night, Playing the Night, brought to
you by Geico. Great news, quick an easy way to
save money. Switched to Geico. It only takes fifteen minutes
to see if you could say fifteen percent or more
in car insurance. Go to Geico dot com and see

(02:39:47):
how much you could save. And well, when you get
to thirty one straight games of thirty or more points,
you get to be the play of the night. Hard
left shot angle which what a seven points? Beard straight
away looking for thirty he's it goes and it's out.

(02:40:08):
Thirty one consecutive games of thirty points for James Harden
and more importantly on four point opportunity. Uh so that's
a lie Rockets Radio Network because more importantly it was
Hardens at thirty points and oh, by the way, it's
a four point play. There's no what you're telling me, Oh,

(02:40:31):
he's there. But more importantly, yeah, yeah, you're trying to
do the whole team thing. It's much more important team team, team,
team team. Yeah. Now, more important that James Harden gets
to thirty That's what it was. It's the end before
the All Star break. It's more important that the streak lives.
The streaks far better story. And by the way, the
Rockets went on to lose the game by ten, So yeah,

(02:40:52):
the streak far more important. So we've talked about it tonight,
James Harden. If Michael Jordan was playing today in the
NBA offense, Lee, that's we would be. Their games are
very similar. Harden was trending on Twitter for a long
time today, but trending for the most part today was
Joe Flacco. The Flacco trade was agreed upon to send
Flacco to the Denver Broncos. Everything Joe Flacco was trending

(02:41:15):
Flacco Lamar for Lamar Jackson, Keenum Broncos Ravens, knocking it
off the top of Twitter. The only thing that knocked
the Flacco trade off the top of Twitter was the
fact that the trailer for Frozen two was released today,
that the return of Elsa. I mean, how many times

(02:41:36):
did you watch it? Uh? Just a couple of times.
I watch it a couple of times. My kids are
done with it. Well because it came out when when
your daughter, your youngest daughter in my daughter five years,
it was awesome. It was the perfect time for them.
Zoe would dance to let it go all the time,
and she would dress like Elsa for Halloween. But now
it's like, hey, Frozen two. She was, Oh, yeah, do

(02:41:56):
you want to go see it? We'll go see it.
And I'm sure still don't lobby to go see it,
but we don't get let me see you in a
second time we get silence, Wow, go that dog alone?
Why is it gonna be a dog? Wasn't from Silence
to the Lamp from myke I'm Jason ben Maller's coming

(02:42:23):
up next. Lotion in the Basket
