Welcome back to Artbeat Radio!
Today, we speak with Heather Thornton, a talented playwriter who speaks with us about her play titled “Slow Times at Aviation High” Heather describes this work as "Breakfast Club...but in wheelchairs"
Here’s a note from Heather- Born in 1961. Disabled in 1971. In those days, the school sat me in a corner as if being disciplined, simply not knowing to do what to do with a disabled child.
But in high school, Aviation High to be precise… we all lived our similar experiences together. That is why I have the love and respect for those years and my fellow students. It filled me with confidence and encouragement. Writing has always been a sanctuary. I encourage everyone to do it, no matter what the perceived outcome. It fills the heart and the soul with… whatever might be missing. You can make your own dreams come true.
