Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of I Heart Radio.
Good Morning. This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.
Today's tip is to connect with far flung friends and
family by going on a virtual scavenger hunt. This tip
comes from Before Breakfast listener Amy, who, like many of us,

(00:27):
has been trying to find ways to stay close to
family as COVID nineteen has made getting together in person difficult.
Lots of us have done family zoom calls, but Amy's
family got a little bit more creative with a virtual
scavenger hunt. My parents, sister, and I set up a
time to meet on the video chat at Marco Polo.

(00:48):
She told me. I announced each scavenger hunt item and
each person searched their house or apartment and reported back
on video. So what did they search for? Well, the
list included something expired, something odd from under the bed
or couch, something from another country, something they just bought,

(01:08):
something that was very old, something they were proud of,
something that looked like a face but was not a face,
and something to be set aside and given to someone else.
As Amy noted, there were no points or winners, just
fun discoveries and laughs and sharing with each other. We
are very sentimental, so there were also a few happy

(01:29):
tears for the categories of something you're proud of and
special memories for something from another country. Some more highlights.
My sister shared nine year expired fish sauce, my other
sister found hilarious faces in logs, my mom found inexplicable
nail piercings under her bed, and my youngest sister shared

(01:50):
the plants that she was proud of growing. It was
so fun. We made lots of new memories and reminisced
about old memories. I love this I year from Amy.
Conversations are great, but they can sometimes get a little
tedious or just rehash the usual family tails. A scavenger
hunt gives people something to do together and it takes

(02:13):
very little planning, just a handful of people willing to
have some fun. You can create new memories even if
you're not seeing each other in person. Do you have
creative ways that you've stayed close to friends and family
over the last few months. I'd love to hear about them.
You can let me know at Before Breakfast podcast at

Thanks for listening and here's to making the most of
our time. Hey everybody, I'd love to hear from you.
You can send me your tips, your questions, or anything else.

(02:55):
Just connect with me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram at
Before Breakfast pod. That's B the number four, then Breakfast
p o D. You can also shoot me an email

Thanks so much, I look forward to staying in touch.
