Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of I Heart Radio.
Good Morning, This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.
Today's tip is to become more intentional about your time
by thinking about what you would like life to look
like at this time next year. I always love those

(00:26):
best of the Year lists that come out in the
last few weeks of December, and I love using this
time to reflect on the past twelve months. Twenty nineteen
has brought all kinds of wonderful things to my life.
Like this podcast, I hope that as you reflect on
the last twelve months, you also have much to be
grateful for. But as you're thinking of the past, I

(00:48):
find it's helpful to spend a little bit of time
thinking about the future too. No one is guaranteed tomorrow,
but most likely twelve months from now, you will be
reflecting on another year come and gone. So take a
few moments today amid any New Year's festivities, to picture

(01:10):
future you. Let's say future you is quite happy with life.
He or she is in a celebratory mood, and this
is partly because future you has successfully dealt with whatever
is weighing on current you. Right now, Think about how
you might tell this story of your current problems with

(01:32):
their happy resolutions. Maybe current you is feeling overwhelmed with work,
but future you, on New Year's Eve next year is
feeling far more in control. Why is that, Well, maybe
you hired a great new assistant. Or maybe you raised
your rates and moved on from clients who weren't worth

(01:52):
your time. Maybe you've got a different job. I have
no idea how you resolved this particular situation. Yeah, but
if you picture the story you might tell, you can
start to see potential solutions that you can work on now.
You can also start to plan in what will become
the year's highlights. Maybe future you is happy because he

(02:15):
or she is more energetic than current you. Why is
future you so energetic? Maybe it's thanks to those twice
weekly early morning workouts that you've done consistently. As you
picture your future self reaping the rewards of your choices,
you become more motivated to talk with your family members

(02:35):
or tweak your work schedule to make those workouts a reality. Now.
In any case, one way or another, time will pass.
The new year is starting now, but eventually it will end,
as all years have ended. Most likely you will be

(02:56):
looking back on your life twelve months from now. Those
twelve months will be filled with something, but right now
they are completely blank. What they are filled with is
up to you. So what will fill this time? If
you were to really feel like popping the champagne corks
next New Year's what would you have done in this time?

(03:20):
Picture this a happy future you and you can spend
the next twelve months helping to make this a reality.
In the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening, and
here's to making the most of our time. Hey, everybody,
