Listening is a bonus series brought to you by Family
Secrets High Family Secrets Family. It's Danny. I've been listening

(00:30):
hard in all sorts of ways as we're putting together
a truly stellar sixth season of Family Secrets. I'm listening
to my extraordinary guests who have navigated the secrets that
have been kept from them, the secrets they've kept from others,
and the secrets they've kept from themselves. Secrets, it seems,
are everywhere. People tell them to me at dinners, at parties,

(00:55):
they send me handwritten letters, or drop me messages on
Facebook or Instagram. Well, secrets have been always a part
of human nature throughout history. I think that in these
last few years where at a real moment of reckoning
Why Well, in part because it's so much harder to
keep a secret the Internet, for instance, cell phones, text chains,

(01:18):
and of course DNA testing. Someone recently asked me if
I think all of this unavoidable transparency is a good thing,
and I really do, which doesn't mean it isn't painful
or rocky or complicated to have your world up ended
by all you didn't know. But the thing is, it's

(01:38):
the truth. And if there's anything I've learned in the
last few years from my guests and from my own story,
it's that the truth is liberating. It really does set
us free. I'm also listening to the messages you all
are leaving on our private call in line dedicated to
family secret stories. I hope you'll keep them coming. Please

(01:59):
don't be shy. I can't even begin to tell you
how much sharing these stories means to all the folks listening,
millions of you. You may think of it as an
act of confession, but it's really an act of generosity.
I look forward to hearing from you and responding to
more of your stories. Just call one eight eight eight

(02:20):
Secret zero. That's one eight secret and the number zero.
You can also follow me on my favorite social media platform,
Instagram at Danny writer. That's d A n I Writer. Meanwhile,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
