Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello the Internet, and welcome to this episode of All
Along the Washed Hour by Jimmy trend Ricks. Trend Ricks. Uh,
that's courtesy of Juju. Hey man, fuck you all right,
you don't get to call us washed. In the trending
show title, go go gontar, Don don don don don't
start doom Doom Doom Doom doom. Man, what a great song.

(00:24):
I honestly thought that was the only song that played
in Vietnam, That and unfortunate song. Yeah, Like, honestly there
was a time when I really because it was repeated
so often like as a music bet in any Nam scene,
that it completely fucked up my idea of what music was. Uh,
and I was like, there was more than two songs
and m and gimme shelter. Also like I associate that anyways,

(00:50):
thank you for the very clever trending show title, you jerk.
We are not washed. We are hip. We're hip. Yep,
we're about to dust off our atari turbographics. Six team
play some fucking bonk, y'all. Thank you told me I'm
not on the knife sedge of technology right now. Uh shoot, uh,

(01:13):
let's talk about she won't say a ship and then
he says, shoot, shoot, what let's tell the people it's trending.
Showy your miles, Jack, That's correct, all correct, so far,
correct so far. And Echo Park is trending because the
l a p D came through and started arresting and brutalizing. Yeah,

(01:36):
and they were in the park. Yeah, and it was
a huge thing in the city. The This is how
it works, you know. The city has this like neoliberal
idea of like, well, we want we want to help
these people, so they'll announced things like we're gonna be
doing a sweep to help the last few unhoused residents
find um some place to relocate to, which is code

(01:58):
for we're about to bust up this encampment. Hit people,
fucking draw guns on people, whether their journalists, activists, people
just standing in solidarity solidarity with these unhoused people, or
the people living in the encampment themselves. It was just
more of the same, watching police brutalized people that are
standing with I guess the humane uh sentiment that is

(02:21):
that exists, which is, what are you doing? Why is this?
Why is this a policy to sweep people away when
you're not actually a when the amount of uh, the
cost to have over four hundred police officers do this
to shut down Sunset Boulevard hours before. It's basically it's

(02:41):
was a set up and you could tell the l A.
P D came there to just funk with all the
people that were there trying to support the unhoused people.
Jamie Loftus was there like along with many other people
and yeah, it's just a fucking shame and it's just
but again, I don't think this is anything new, um
especial not in l A but just around and how
like as a policy we are treating unhoused people um.

(03:05):
And then there was a whole other thing when they're
saying we want to support them, um. For people that
were accepted housing from the city, like from the city services,
they were put in like hotels and like with so
many fucking strings attached, it might as well have been
a trap net. It was like you gotta be about
in two weeks, we're not we're gonna take certain amenities
out because we want to shame you because you're don't

(03:26):
have a certain income. It was all it's all bad
and you know, just another stain on the city. Yeah,
the well you have to go look for a job
in order to get help from it, like that sort
of ship is It's not, yeah, like figure out first
you need to give people stable housing to first create

(03:47):
a bit of momentum, so it's not just chaos that
they can say they have an address that you can
send something to, that you have the the space to
be able to you know, shelter or stay out of
the elements and have the wherewithal to begin to repair
your life and to have all these like two week
minimum you better find. It's like that's it's just it

(04:07):
misses the point and it just shows how like backwards
the policies are and how any person you know, trying
to do good it just has the hardest fucking time,
especially with something like this that unhoused population is so
significant in this city, and we all were dealing with
their nimby fucking citizens who don't want to actually allow

(04:27):
for temporary or just housing to be built to support
these people. Um and then in a police department that's
all too willing to just clock in some overtime while
you know, hurting physically hurting people. And one event that
notoriously uh is bad for the unhoused population in any city,
the Olympics l A has the Olympics coming in. Um.

(04:54):
Past Olympic cities have just like bulldozed entire encampments to
build like soccers, stadiums and ship Um. Yeah, it's yeah,
this is definitely gonna like come to a head for sure.
And it is and I think they're not. I think
the city is misreading how people actually believe this needs
to be solved, because it's not like, yeah, there are

(05:16):
assholes who want to put fucking rocks and things under
the underpasses to prevent people from setting up any kind
of shelter or whatever, But there are many people who
understand that this is the absolute like least effective way
to solve a crisis that we have the money for, um.
But rather this is just another thing, which is, let's

(05:37):
just put money into policing and into the l A.
The Olympics thing there's gonna need to be I think
the estimates are like a thirty percent increase in policing
to accommodate the Olympics. And Okay, so tell me, why,
tell me why any of this is good. Yeah, I
think there's gonna be a They're they're facing a major
problem that they don't allies. They have yet because they

(06:02):
think that they can just get get through it with
the same old like you know, neoliberal just kind of
well it's good for business and type ship. And I
think that l A is moving in a very different
direction just generally as and there they are just you know,
just taking journalists away. There is one was like I'm

(06:23):
with Spectrum News and they're like, yeah, all right, what
are you on the side of people in need? It's
just it's just a fucking shame. And you know, again
police provoking and attacking people like they were going to
escalate the ship the whole time. This is what they
did over the summer there there was like it was
just so transparent and yeah, not according to the report

(06:43):
they paid for. No, according to the report they paid
for they crushed it both people's skulls with projectiles and
also crushed crushed it and the cloaqueal term and I'm
not a few activists are saying that based on the
amount of officers that were there, four hundred lap D
officers for at least eight hours, the average pay for

(07:05):
lap D around a hundred thirty five thousand a year,
or sixty five an hour including over time, So doing
a little back of the Napkin math, that sweep and
the brutalization of just human beings trying to stand together.
Two D eight thousand, eight hundred nine dollars potentially, God,

(07:25):
I don't know where you could have used two D
eight thousand dollars, and like too for the people that
were literally just sitting in front of Mitchell Ferrell's fucking
city council office. They were sucking there to burn the
fucking ship down. They were there to show this is
how many people know what the funk you're doing, and
we're just sitting down. It wasn't but again the police
have to come in to escalate and justify their own brutality.
So yeah, um, alright, let's talk about Suicide Squad new

(07:51):
trailer out. I was like vaguely aware there was a
new Suicide Squad movie coming. I had no idea it
is not a sequel. It seems like they're just like,
all right, we're gonna hit reset on that other one
with like Jared Letto as the Joker. This one has
no Will Smith, has no Jared Letto, but Margot Robbie

(08:14):
is back. Uh, and they got John Cena, They got
a dress Elba uh, and the trailer just dropped in
it looked dope, because yeah, my whole thing was Suicide
Squad is like I remember watching or not watching it
because in the beginning like it's so bad, and then

(08:35):
I think on a flight or something, I watched it
and I was like, all right, whatever, And then when
I heard I'm like, why is this trailer trending? It's
because it has the feel of Guardians of the Galaxy,
Like it is almost that they're like, let's reskin Guardians
of the Galaxy with d C I p uh intellectual property.
And it turns out that's almost that's quite literally what

(08:56):
they did. I didn't realize James gunn Iss corecting it
except is this or is this going to be rated R?
Because they they because Guardians wasn't rated R, right, No,
But I mean I watched the Red Band trailer, so yeah, yeah,
the Red Band trailer for this. It looks like they're
really using the studio space of the R rating, which

(09:17):
turns out the older I get, the more that I'm
just like, well, it's rated, are all right? That that
gets it the past my first because and then your
second question, is there a shark that just choose on
a bunch of people like actually, yeah, and this one
there is Yeah, that is actually second commission. I don't
even know who that character was, but I like, yeah,

(09:38):
that the shark character Sharkman, Sharkman looks great. Uh. Pete
Davidson shows up in an orange prison jumpsuit and orange
crocks and it's not necessarily clear to me, at least
as ann Suicide Squad fan, who he's supposed to be. Uh.
The shark, however, is laid by like the Honestly, if

(10:02):
you had told me this was going to happen when
I was five years old, I would have shipped myself,
and not just because I was not potty trained yet.
The shark is played by Sylvester Stallone, are my favorite
actor when I was for the first five Wow plus
Shark my favorite shark. It's a Rocky and Jaws together.

(10:25):
You get King Shark, the character from the New Suicide Squad,
with like some Jason Vorhe style kills thrown in like
he ripped the motherfucker in in half from the waste
from your upper torso in half, the lengthwise straight receipt
rippage like goodbye, it's fucking Sylvester still I thought I

(10:50):
recognized him. Don't don't have got any bites? Oh my god,
Oh my god. Oh okay boy, all right, no, I'm done.
I'm done. That's it. That's it for alright. See in

(11:13):
a week, dominion voting is trending because they're suing Fox
News for one point six billion dollars, which I thought
we knew this, but I think the suit actually hit
and yeah, looking always threatening, they're like, hey, you know,
we gotta we got a one point six billion bang

(11:33):
on us right now. And uh, you know who is
the fucking news Max or oh and one of them?
Like they already found out that, you know what I mean,
Ruby's about to find out? What's her face? Uh? Sidney Powell,
who we didn't cover this during the week, but her
defense about all the cracking ship she was doing, like
her lawyers are like, no reasonable person would actually take

(11:55):
anything that Sydney Powell said and take that for actually
being true information. Oh wow, the older my client defense. Yeah,
lame of ship. So yeah, I mean I hope I
hope they get that one point more than let's double
it about a three point two billion dollar Biden ass
king shark. I don't know how they defend themselves from

(12:17):
this because it's like what everything to me and saying
is true. They've like completely made up facts. Um, they're
gonna have to claim that nobody watches their channel with
the intent of like getting news, even though they have
news in the title. I don't know. It's gonna be

(12:38):
a tough one. It's gonna be a tough one, but
I hope that again. Best of luck to Domini in
their pursuit of money. And Rhonda Rousey is trending. Uh
why is roond because we stand a black queen. That's
why we found out. The internet found out today that
Rhonda Rousey is black. Uh. And it all happened when

(13:03):
like TMZ tried to talk to her and her mom.
They were like having lunch somewhere, and the TMZ guy
was like asking her, like just asking her some stuff,
and clearly Rowssey wasn't feeling it. And then the this
guy was asking, like, hey, like, what was the last
movie you guys saw? And then her mom said, we
just watched Before His Time and like a movie about

(13:23):
her great grandfather, Dr Alfred Waddell, who was one of
the first black physicians in North America. And I was
like what So obviously Twitter has come with all kinds
of memes, you know, hilarious racial draft memes like that.
But yeah, it's uh yeah, look at Rhonda Rowsey's learning
all kinds of things today. Today we found out Rhonda

(13:45):
Rousey is black. Wow. I don't know who any of
my great grandparents are, um for real? Yeah, I don't
know a single one of them or you just never asked.
You mean like I couldn't tell you their name, I
couldn't look tell you like pick them out of a picture.
I've heard like a story about one of them. Right,

(14:07):
it's yeah, because it's wild too, Like especially if you
if your parents grandparents pass away early in their lives,
they don't have like a lot. I was lucky enough
my my great grandmother on my dad's side, she was alive,
called her Granny Babes and you know, I got to
hear all kinds of shift from her. But on my
mom's side, I only know like very vague things like

(14:28):
occupations and ships like that. Yeah, a couple of names,
but like it's hard for me to be like, who
were they? Yeah, that's shout out to Rhonda Rousey for
having such distinguished ancestors too, I know, right, and then
she's over here, I mean happening about that time she
got knocked out though, uh in that one fight that

(14:49):
was kind of epic whenever was like a machine and
then she was stoppable and then so stoppable for like
the hand full of fights. That Holly Holme fight. I remember,
I watched that interesting fact about that Holly home Verse
Rhonda Rousey fight. I watched that at Andrew T's house

(15:10):
and I met Iffy there for the first time there.
Oh well, yeah was that so that was a while
ago November. As I look at this article, as you
look at your poster of Iffy on the wall, yeah,
or it's that meme of like the X Men cartoon
where it's Wolverine looking at like that picture in his

(15:30):
bed and then like you know, the angles like the
reverse on what the picture is and it's it's the
date and me like looking at if you're like, uh, ship,
all right, well those are the things that are trending. Uh.
We hope that you guys have a pleasant weekend, h
and week Miles. Good luck next week. I'm off to

(15:54):
I got some get dust off for the kids to watch.
Wait were you where your road tripping just across this
great state. Uh yeah, we're going north. I'll tell you
that much. But I can't tell you anymore because because
I told me not to. Um, yeah, I'm going undercover

(16:14):
with my kids, with my kids, Jack, that's kind of reckless. No, not, honestly,
I never get smoked when I got the kids with me.
You remember I walked in that Hills Hell's Angels meetings
with my kids, and I said, he was just looking
for a bathroom. I think to realize I had all
these goal pros, I had all the footage I needed.
You know, we're just looking for a bathroom, looking for

(16:35):
a bathroom? Man? Oh cool man, mongols here, Hell's Hell's Angels.
That game, y'all, y'all like bikes? Are? I see you later?
Just the worst undercover room format, Just terrified. You're so nervous,
you drag your kids along in my bad. I guess
I'm in the wrong room. Do you guys get that?

(16:57):
You see that? Yeah? Man, we saw well I didn't
have the camera rolling. Oh ship, you gotta go back, kids,
We gotta go back. All right, all right, I guess
you gotta turn this plane around. We're going back to Bolivia.
I gotta see how they're refining this cocaine. Sorry, folks, Uh,
don't looking to the bathroom again. Damn this underground drug

(17:22):
lab jug ship? Is this the is this the bathroom? Alright? Alright, well,
I didn't see anything. Didn't see you. Guys. Keep your thing, man,
I love you, love your work. All right, guys, be
kind to each other, be kind to yourselves. Wear a mask,
don't do nothing about what it supremacy, and we'll talk

(17:44):
to you all next week.
