Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello the Internet, and welcome to this episode of Good
Zight Moon. I'm Jack O'Brien. Nice, Jamie is Jamie Hi,
Jamie Hi. Jamie loft us right, Yeah, hasn't changed, no
plans to change it, No need j Lo. The original

(00:25):
j Lo I think, yeah, we used to. According Yeah,
popular opinion will say that they're prior j Lo's, but
I think you'll find that I was the first one.
There was like a really cute when all those old
Carl Reiner tweets were circulating. Yesterday, he like tweeted about
seeing the same j LO movie four times over the

(00:46):
course of like five years. Yeah, I forget which j
Loo movie it was, but he like he watched it
once a year and it was amazing. The with the
Net is so great. I I didn't realize. I mean,
unfoor most most great art isn't appreciated till the artist
is gone. I didn't realize this Twitter mine existed until yesterday. Uh,

(01:10):
what a genius? Do you think he's joking? You've seen
the Net? Do you think he's like seriously loved the
movie The Net? I don't know. I I like it
better if if he if he means it, I hope
he genuinely enjoys it by the end. I don't know.

(01:31):
I guess I feel like it's hard like as you
get older, it's your your you know, maintaining the level
of irony of your youth. It depletes and it should.
I hope he loved it, but he was still funny
to the end. But yeah, irony and funny do not
mean the same thing. I would agree with that. I
hope he loves the net. You just said that was

(01:53):
such a faraway, wistful looking you're I wish I could
ask him. All right, let's talk about what's trending. Uh,
Elon is trending, and I think it's about Elon Musk.
Uh that's okay, Uh, brave assumption. I do. I know,

(02:15):
I unfortunately know why this is trending. I don't know
the details of why it is not immediately clear to me.
What I do know is that Kanye West and Elon
Musk hung out and there was a picture that cropped
up of it. This morning. Kanye tweeted, when you go
to your boy's house and you're both wearing orange, great Captain,

(02:39):
So we don't that's so like, I guess they're both
wearing orange. I think it's the picture has so many layers.
I guess I don't really know, so I guess they're
at Elon's house. I am. I'm not well versed in
terrifying celebrity like prison homes, but this is I think
that this is his house. They're wearing matching yeasies. But

(03:02):
the interesting thing about this photograph is that you can
see in a reflective surface who is taking it, and
it's Grimes taking the picture. She's being literally like, does
she have a sign that says help backwards so that
you can read it for it? And like red rum
is written on the there. I mean, you know, of

(03:22):
all the things to extend your empathy to Grimes is
not my number one priority. But every once in a
while when you see her, you know, when she catches
her reflection, you're just like, is she okay? We don't know.
They both look like such dorks and the shoes are
not cool at all? Also cool and they yeah, they
look like such Dad's Like, yeah, they really look like dads. Also,

(03:44):
Elon Musk is not wearing orange. Am I wrong about that? Right?
Orange jacket and traffic cone. Musk is wearing all black
with like a tiny little like we're in jish apple
over his heart, um and which is probably something terrifying.

(04:06):
I I yeah, I resent that they're trending. I feel
like this past week, especially the Kardashians, which like I
lump Kanye into as well, have been making Molly Lambert
was tweeting about this, like they've been making a lot
of like attempts to go viral again. And I think,
you know, people are like less interested in hearing about

(04:27):
what billionaires are up to, but which is good. But
but this pick slipped through the crocks. It was it
was too cursed. Now you have seven days to live.
I have seven days, seven days to live. Unfortunately, it's
like I don't want to like whatever they were talking
about guaranteed the most terrifying ship ever, just like they're

(04:49):
they're probably very wistful of like that month seven years
ago when they both peaked in terms of fame, and uh,
like I feel like they probably like are you know
how like some celebrities just stopped, like their fashion sunse
stops evolving when they were at their most famous. And

(05:09):
I feel like they are each other's friends for like
a similar reason they were. It was so good in
the world. It's not good. There was also a really
good tweet of have you seen Jennifer's Body? I haven't,
but I hear it's an underrated classic. It's a classic,

(05:33):
but they they post. Someone posted a clip of there's
like a scene where Megan Fox is always pushing Amanda's
sive Fred. Yeah, she's pushing Amanda ce Freed around because
she's not the uncool friend. And people were saying that
that is how Kim Kardashian would treat Grimes, which is true.

(05:54):
Does anybody know how to pronounce Amanda Seafred's last night
so fridden? I feel like it's been a couple of
years since anyone's had to I don't know I was.
I guess it wasn't since Mama Mia. Here we go again,
the people have had to say that. I think it's
Sea Freed. Okay, Sea Freed. Yeah that when you just
said that with confidence, it sounded right. Um, well, I've

(06:16):
been I mean I've been very wrong before and I
never hear the end of it. Uh. J k Rowling
is one that people got really mad at. It's rolling,
like rolling idiot, But who cares if you say her
name wrong? She's the worst person alive. Well, so Ellen
degenerous is that something Olivia I appreciate. Olivia to Haveland

(06:44):
is trending for being the oldest person. She's a hundred
four today. She's like the last relic of old Hollywood.
What it was she in? Well, she was in many
things back in the day, but she I think most
famously she was in Gone with the Wind um another

(07:08):
movie that is uh, not fun to talk about but misunderstood.
No uh no, so but yeah, she wasn't Gone with
the Wind uh. And she also I feel like my
favorite thing about Olivia to have land that I don't
know how common knowledge it is anymore, I don't know,

(07:29):
but was that she had this like brutal competition with
her sister uh during the old Hollywood period, and they
had different last names. Um, so people were like I
guess I didn't know that they were sisters, but they
were in such intense competition with each other. They would
go decades without speaking to each other. They hated each other,

(07:51):
like she's like the past. I think that Olivia to
Haveland is kept alive solely by spite, and I I
have to respect it. But her and Joan Fontaine, who
is her younger sister. Um were just like, oh my god,
they hated each other so much. Um, and she was
suing f X as of a couple of years ago

(08:13):
over that feud show. Oh was that about them? Uh No,
but she was like they were featured and I think that,
I mean, they knew that, like Olivia to Havelin was alive,
But I don't think that they knew that she was
alive and litigious at like age hundred and two. Uh,

(08:34):
but you know she's still alive. She's kept alive by spite.
The last thing I found out about her recently was
that she um like her most famous Oscar's gown was
made by a black dress designer named Anne Lowe, who
I had never heard of. But she has a very
like I mean, she's fascinating where she was making some

(08:56):
of the most glamorous gowns in old Hollywood Awards show history. Um,
but was always what was never like credited properly until
um like late in her career. Um, so google and
low she's the hidden figures of Hollywood glamorous. I think

(09:20):
she did. I think she did. Uh. Yeah, Jacqueline Bouvier's
wedding gown like when she got married to JFK. Like
she's made some of the most famous dresses in the world,
but the the famous white ladies she would design them
for would never credit her. Ah, but she's fascinating and

(09:41):
a legend. Um, you know a lot about old Hollywood stuff.
So I just didn't vain. Isn't Karina Longworth? Okay? Uh.
Gavin Newsom is trending because I think he's trending for
the same reason like a lot of other um governors
are trending. Is because like we're having to roll back

(10:03):
all the all that fun stuff, all indoor things that
were open for business. Stores, restaurants, bars, uh no longer
open unless they are outdoor, which most of them are not,
which most of them are not. This is so I mean,
it's not just like uh blatant disregard for human life,

(10:25):
but it's all I mean, it's also deeply embarrassing to
have to like Gavin Newsom, who who could possibly take
him seriously at this point where he's just so clearly
you know, going whichever way the pr wind is blowing
for what he can get away with. Um and now
that the pr is bad because people in his state

(10:47):
are dying because because he allowed people to reopen just oh,
what a loser. New York is doing the same thing there.
I think there you might be able to keep restaurants
open more because more people eat outside. Yeah, it just
seems like we're headed for a weird, weird place, terrible place,

(11:11):
especially if a lot of people decided to travel or
go to parties on the fourth of July. Don't what
what are you celebrating? If you do that, it is
to want to celebrate cassing yourself quick side side trend.
Canada's trending because they it's Canada Day. I guess it's

(11:35):
Canada Day. Canada Day, uh and shout out to them
are at half and finally, beat Us and butt Head
are trending because that that's being rebooted by Mike Judge

(11:55):
with Mike Judge involvement, which is I mean, at least
there's my Judge involvement. I don't know, I Jack, do
you have like an intense attachment to Beavis and butthead?
I did not grow up with them. And then I
watched it later and I liked it, But I'm not
like super attached to it. Yeah, No, I watched it
when it was on and thought it was very funny

(12:16):
and but sort of one like I got tired of
it after a little while because it is somewhat one
note and the movie was like solid, but it was like, Okay,
that joke ran its course. Um yeah, uh so yeah,
I don't have an intense attachment. I don't know who

(12:36):
would that would be excited about this. I honestly thought
that of all people like Mike Judge would be this
is the first thing of his it's been rebooted, right,
Like I thought that he evolved. I thought he had
the uh, I guess integrity isn't the word. I thought
he would have resisted reboot culture. Yeah, you would think so. Um,

(12:58):
but I don't know. Maybe maybe he has maybe Bavis
and butthead have more to say now when we say
rebooted or art are they going to be um? Are
they going to be new characters? Are they going to
be old men? Are they going to be the same
as far as I know their teens again? But this

(13:22):
time there gen z and I don't know this is speculation,
but like commenting on TikTok's like, I don't know what
I'm assuming that they would be. Like commenting on gen
Z media. I don't know. People are also Daria is
also trending because people are like, why wasn't it Daria
and you know fair point? I don't. But just like

(13:45):
I don't know, make give gen z e their own cartoon?
Why why why they have to get their parents scraps.
Doesn't seem fair. Yeah, well, I'm sure they will completely
reject their parents scraps. Uh that's what it ends up being.
U uh yeah, I mean if it's this or tash
point oh, then I'm happy Mike Judges. Something Mike Judge

(14:09):
is involved with is replacing tosh Point. Oh. But it's
so unfortunate. Yeah, I guess millennials got you, like jen
X got Beus and butt Head, and the millennials got
tosh point oh, and then gen Z gets beat Us
and butt Head. Again, doesn't seem fair, although baby Boomer's
got tosh Point. Oh. Also, my my dad and his

(14:31):
friends did love tosh Point oh. And when I was
his father hosted that. When I was going into comedy,
my dad was like, have you seen tosh You like this,
just like you've seen this? Have you seen this guy? Oh?

(14:54):
It's all right, it's Cannon that is going to do
it for UH this Wednesday, Jamie, thank you for joining us.
UH guys, have a good day. Be kind to yourselves,
be kind to each other, wash your hands, stay at home,
don't do nothing. We'll be back tomorrow with the whole

(15:17):
last episode of the podcast and we will talk to
you then. Bye.
