Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello the Internet, and welcome to this episode of Mr
Morond the Big Trenders. That is courtesy of Chavanni on
the Discord and Discords A Gang, Thank you for surfacing it.
Are you through the album yet? It's a long one? No,
as it stands, I've I've just I'm like right up
(00:21):
to Auntie stories. Oh I'm happy, Like the best song
is about well, I don't want to funk with your expectations,
but the best song might be yet to come. That's
based on what I'm reading. I've seen people are saying
so much about that. I know that there's people who
you know that there's there's some interesting takes, something like
this albums fucking trash man, this ship ain't sucking hitting there. Like,
(00:42):
first of all, Kendrick does not make albums for the club.
Uh so you know, please don't be alarmed if there's
a lack of club bangers. And I think one of
the more controversialent is is that you know, you have
Kodak Black on the album when many people are like,
you know, to be speaking so much about you know,
talking about trauma and sexual trauma, family trauma and things
(01:03):
like that, and have someone like Kodak Black with the
allegations that he has and things that he's admitted to
on the album, seems a bit like a step back
based on what you're talking about in the album. But yeah,
it's it's you know, I think that. And I also
seen a lot written about Auntie stories. A lot of
people were saying, like, oh my guess, like so homophobic,
But then many other people were like, you really need
(01:24):
to like listen to the track because like he's he's
actually coming out in to show that he's grown and
how much he's evolved on the topic. So it's controversial,
but like, I don't I don't think you can just
say that and not not listen to it. It's it's art. Yeah,
I think I think there is a point to be
(01:46):
about being consistent right with like who your features are, uh,
and or like you know, you know, Drake caught smoke
because he was using like r Kelly samples and people
are like, doesn't like they're They're like, where's the growth?
And I think it happens very incrementally. Meanwhile, Future is
like looking at this album, He's like, do I grow?
(02:09):
I never liked you anyways? Okay, yeah, okay, cool, But
it's a big, big weekend for music. I like, there's
not only that, I know people talking about my chemical
romance The Smile, you know, the you know Radiohead basically
album is also so listen to that for the first
track on the Smile. Yeah, it's pretty it's pretty dope.
(02:30):
What's the first track on it? I wonder, let me,
I don't know, I don't remember the name, but it
just feels like Radioheaded. Well, I mean everything about it
is you know Radiohead because York and Johnny Greenwood and
I think that they are the only two featured on
the first track, but um right, but then Nice god Rich,
(02:50):
who's like big Radiohead producer, is also a part of it.
So like, you know, I'm not trying to take shots
at everybody in Radiohead, but Tom York and Johnny green
would inform so much of the sound of it. Hey, look,
I heart Radiohead. I'm a radio headhead, so I'm I'm excited.
But like a lot of their more recent albums, I'm
(03:11):
like listening to it, I'm like, all right, I'm I'm
looking forward to like the sixth listen when I'm like okay,
now now I get it. But this first track, I
was like damn this this feels I don't know, familiar
good anyways, A lot of good music, a lot of
you know, challenging music. Um, and I got a lot
(03:33):
of time. I got a lot of time to listen
to it, um and just sit back and enjoy because
my uh seventy six er season is over. Um, thankfully.
Do you feel do you feel free? You feel like
feel nothing but relief? Season is over. Before we recorded
(03:56):
boosties this week, to producer Jabari, was like watching that
game when they evened it up to two against the
Heat and James Harden was hitting threes you could see
the Heat just looking at him being like, wow, there
goes our season. I was like, oh, this is where
I wish I gambled so that I could monetize the
(04:19):
pain of being a Sixers fan because I knew for
a fact that they were about to lose the next
two games. Like I knew, I felt even watched them,
which I never watched the losses, but like I didn't,
I didn't even need to they I knew they were
gonna lose it. Um, So I was, you know, I
just checked the scores after the game was over. I
(04:39):
was like, all right, there we go. Um, the MAVs
extended their series with the Sons, who I think everybody
thought the Sons were the um, you know, the favorite,
the shoeing to like that was kind of the thing
that like heading into the playoffs, there were a lot
of exciting storylines, but the thing kind of laying over
(05:01):
it all is like, but the Sons are like better
than everybody, so they're just gonna walk to the finals.
That I heard, you know certain NBA prognostic cares being like,
I don't I don't think they're gonna lose a game
until maybe the finals, and the Mavericks and Luca don
Cheech and uh coach Jason Kidd and you know, a
(05:23):
bunch of role players around are are playing really really well,
and I don't know if the if the MAVs win,
they might be the favorite to win the title. Yeah,
I mean that's it. That would it will be a
tremendous boost for them if they come out of that
game seven on top. Yeah. And that was good seating
of the word boost or in the context of the
(05:44):
NBA where it brings people back. And it doesn't make
me mad at all to hear that. Yeah, it doesn't
make me mad. To hear boosts. This brought to you
by a boost by Insure nutritional shakes for the elderly. Um,
that was what we were trying to evoke with the
title our show, right. I just want to make sure
because I thought I got it. Look, we just want
(06:05):
to corner their meal replacement shake market for the elderly.
The Celtics are about to play the Milwaukee Bucks, and
you know it's an elimination game. They got Scott Foster reffing,
so we will see what happens. Um, but always always interesting.
They call Scott Foster the extender because he he can
(06:29):
make an underdog look good. But I don't call him
that they do. I don't because I don't think about
that stuff. I just enjoy the great play of NBA athletes.
There it is because it is fantastic. Elon Musk, he
did it to us. He's the dealers on Hold, deals
on Hold. I mean, this dude just like knows he
(06:53):
has somebody whose job it is to keep his name trending,
and he knows how to do it. Um. I don't
know if this is the thing that he did disingenuously
to get his name trending, or if the initial offer
was the thing that he did to get his name trending. UM.
But earlier this week, he had confirmed that he would
(07:14):
bring uh Donald Trump back to Twitter, or allow him
back to Twitter once once his purchase went through. UM.
But now it's looking like he's going to have to
reevaluate the offer. It seems like, um yeah. I mean
I think a lot of his things like it's there's
(07:35):
there's some bots stuff I need to to think about,
while there's you know, like that's why this is on hold,
while there's appointing this for the fact that you know,
the stock price has gone down and what he's offering
is over what you know, the market currently values Twitter at.
But I don't I don't know what. I'm not sure
what his end game is here. It's like he's like
(07:55):
one of those people like half the time he doesn't
do what he says he's gonna do, so you don't
know if he's gonna do in other times he can.
You know, he likes to be tricksy with us, So
I don't know. Uh, it's a it's a will, it's
a will he won't he that. I'm that's I'm I
have too many other things on my mind, I get
too invested at this point. It's why I have actually
(08:15):
looked at this deal from every angle, and I think
he's right to put it on hold and he should
not buy Twitter. Actually it's just bad. It doesn't make
business sense, ellen um, you know, so it doesn't compare
with the other businesses, you know, like being born with
an emerald mine, that's the type of return you're looking for. Yeah,
(08:36):
I think the like what a lot of skeptics point
to is the fact that because he's borrowing against Tesla
stock too, that that is fucking up the cost of
Tesla and now you know, his financing could be about
to crumble or something like that. So it's just it's
it's it's a lot, it's a lot, so it's over leveraged.
He's an understaked. I don't I don't know what any
(08:59):
of that should means, um, but I don't think you
should buy Twitter. My favorite is watching people in their
replies when they're they're pointing out there like he you know,
like like one person whose skepticals like this could be
what what's happening with Elon Musk and like his Tesla
stock And I just like these fanboys who just show
up Number one, Musk is one of the most successful
businessmen in the history of our country. That's undeniable. Making
(09:22):
your first claim absurd on its face too, must by
Twitter three times and still be the richest man in
the world. It's like, holy shit, he's quoted like he's
fucking Confucius by business bros like they I've I've heard
him quoted in like recovery meetings when the conversation is
about like you know, spiritual things that they'll bring up
in Elon Musk quote like that. That's where we're at. Yeah,
(09:46):
you know, all right, let's take a quick break and
we'll come right back. And we're back and we we
gotta hurry up. Yeah, I know, you gotta get get
the old corneas. I'm good run time, but you do
(10:10):
have better than vision um terms unbelievable like unbelievable vision
terms when the Dems lost it all times. It's my eye.
I've never heard anybody confident in their eyesight before, Like
(10:31):
I was never heard people just you know quietly be
like yeah vision but like miles eyes have been opened.
Uh and holy sh it, Look, I don't want to
talk about the reason I'm so gassed up. Is because
when I was taking my eye tests and the follow
up consultation, they were like, okay, for fun, see if
you can read this super tiny line. And I did,
(10:53):
and they're like, oh okay. A lot of people look
at that line and would say it's all white, they
can't see text. They started quiet taking notes and like
picked up the phone and whispered something into it, and
then like more guys and white coats came through. Exactly
know it truly sounds like you have superpowers. Now. That
was struck, which is hope, It's just I think it's
just if for anybody who's won glasses, I think that's
(11:14):
the difference. Is like to see what you would see
when you have glasses on without them is a fun time.
So anyway you'll hear more, don't worry. What's trying. Oh,
Friday thirteenth is also trying, because yeah, Friday out Jason,
I'm terrified that's Jason, right, Yeah, yeah that This was
(11:35):
like one of my favorite movie franchises when I was
like seven or eight. Right, do you think Friday culturally
became like this like spooky day? Because the number thirteen
has always been like that, and I know it's probably
goes beyond that film, But do you think that made
more people being like fun man Friday Man, because you
know guy, Yeah, I think it probably kept in the
(11:57):
like consciousness more than they There was a long time
where they were releasing a movie. Every time it was
Friday the thirteenth, the new movie would come out. Oh,
like they were I ding Friday on maps and we're like,
are on calendars and we're like, okay, so we know
our development schedule. Yeah, but I think it goes pretty
deep India history. Um originated with a North Smith actually
(12:21):
about twelve gods having a dinner party in Bahalla. That
sounds made up, but shout out to the twelve gods.
Do not go outside, is my advice. Because Mercury is
in retrograde and it is Friday thirteenth, you don't want
to double up like that. But it's also Stevie Wonder's birthday. Wow,
So you know, here we take that and Stevie Wonder
(12:45):
very superstitious. Stephen Colbert actually tweeted that. He said, it's
Stevie one. That's the only reason I saw that. It's
because it's the top tweet it said it's Stevie Wonder's
birthday and Friday third. I hope he's not very superstitious. Yes,
keep it back for Late Night. I know if I was, uh,
you know, cool enough. I don't know. Mike Pants trending. Yes,
(13:10):
the Devil went down to Georgia because he went down
to Georgia to go cape for Brian Kemp. But meanwhile,
remember Donald Trump, he's endorsing Mr Perdue. So you know,
we're getting to see a little bit of head to
head basically with their with their picked candidates. I mean,
I think in this one it seems pretty clear that
(13:32):
Kemp is going is doing pretty comfortably. Um so, like
they're jumping on a winner to be like, see I'm
better than Trump basically. Well, I think the big the
big deal is more so that like, you know, Trump
again with this race, he's so focused on revenge and
(13:53):
he blames Brian Kemp for not going full wrap book
on the election in Georgia's so he's like that's why
everything or due since like it, Like we said, he
opened the debate not saying what he would do as governor.
He said the election was stolen from Donald Trump, and
you're like, hold on, bro mm hmm. A lot of
people are past that. Some people want you to get
to the like homophobia and racism part. Yeah. Uh so
(14:17):
you know, well I don't think, uh, this is going
to be you know, Trump's picks and primaries have been
pretty good actually so far. But this is the one
where I think some are like that this is the
same it, but yeah, whatever, and its cult of it.
When's Pennsylvania happening? Because that that one's interesting because that
was the one where um Pompeo is like trying to
(14:40):
trying to like set himself up as the opposition um
by you know, with the guy against Oz Trump Lan Oz.
And then there's a third candidate who's like ultra super
mega Yeah, Kathy Barnett, who's like a mature Candice Owens
who's out here. And it's wild because it's kind of
(15:00):
one of those things that happens, like when you have
your top two performers just in a straight up scrap
with each other, it allows for someone there take the
inside you know edge right there, straight inside what do
you call that inside? Straight? Yeah? Yeah, because like they're
too busy with each other and it's like, well, oh
look who's look who's moving up, you know, and Trump
has already said if she wins, she'll have my support.
(15:23):
It's like, wait, hold on, I thought you were with ots.
But that's what it. That's inside Straight a horse racing
thing or poker thing. Inside Straight is from poker, okay.
And I mean, we don't even have time to get
into the Staircase. We'll just say, uh, you know, our
I p to Fred Ward who started yea, I am
(15:47):
watching the Staircase. We'll we'll get caught up. I'll get
caught up to everything that's been released and then maybe
we can talk about it trending next week. But that
is something I've got or is it weekly? The Staircase?
It's weekly? And there's four episodes. Though, is calling Firth good?
He's he's calling Firth? Isn't it right? Killing it? I've
(16:07):
only seen like three of the documentary episodes. And oh
and it says incredible and a prestige casting. No, she
won't give you prestige cast. I don't know. We got it.
We got okay, So it's a lot, folks, you got
you must tune in. Anna has already determined it's prestige casting.
Now I'm gonna watch it. Yeah, yeah. Um, he said
(16:33):
from the Acid eating alone spoiler alert. Um, I mean
that's not a spoiler. This man he knows what he's
doing back there. Yeah. Yeah, but it's somebody who very specific,
very strange, you know, on camera in the in the
documentary and calling Firth is absolutely nailing the performance while
(16:54):
bringing something to it. It's not just like an impression,
got it. But we do want to say, right, Peter
fred Ward for all the eighties kids out there. Yeah,
and like he's a recognizable face who's I did not
know that that person's name was fred Ward? And I
feel like I don't know fred Ward. I'm I'm picturing
(17:16):
a nineteen fifties sitcom dead but he's you'll know him
when you google him. Good and a lot of stuff, uh,
I mean if you're old old school Tremors, Naked Gun
thirty three and a third, yes, you know The Player
is a is a good prestige film that was very good.
(17:38):
All right, Well, those are some of the things that
are trending on this Friday the thirteenth. Stay safe out there,
be kind to each other, be kind to yourselves, get
the vaccine, don't do nothing about what supremacy, and we
will talk to y'all on Monday. Bye bye eight
