Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello the Internet, and welcome to this episode of Pardon
Me Boys. Is that the Chattanooga chug chug Um? I'm
scared to see uhus or Brian Jeffries who woke up
with that song in his head on his way to Vaudeville.
I guess, yeah, that's uh. I had never heard it,
but I went back and looked at some old videos. Uh,
(00:21):
and hey, they knew how to have a good time.
He wasn't lyon play some horns, uh sing a song
about trains, and as you want was like, oh, like,
it's like, is that the Chattanooga choo chow? I love
how conversations were Ye, Hey, I'm Jack, You're Miles, And
(00:45):
here is what's trending. We have a special EP tomorrow,
So this is your chance to hear us way in
on the day's events, because a lot happened. Yeah, Joe
Rogan got COVID first and foremost, top story, most important.
We don't know if he got the vaccine or not.
He was very vaccine skept early on. He strikes me
(01:10):
as a dude who did and won't say nothing right,
but also strikes me as a dude who might not
have done it and it's like just being like, yeah, dude,
my ripped immune system. Yeah, because that was his thing, right,
He was like, young people don't need to get the
vaccine healthy. Yeah. Yeah, you're a fifty year old who's
wider than you are tall. How are you healthy? But anyways,
(01:33):
he you know, said Sunday was scary man. And but
then he's apparently, you know, been taking all the things
that our dear president got when he was in trouble
from COVID. He got the uh what what are what
are they called? Like immuno? Oh, he got regeneral yeah,
oh he got it all. He also got he claims
(01:56):
to have gotten the horse to warmer. Yeah. I know
I saw that thing where he was like, dude, hit
it with all kinds of supplements, man, fucking kitchen sink approach.
I took real medicine supplements and horseshit improver. And I'm okay,
I guess I don't know this. It's just like does
(02:17):
my head in mate just like listening to him like
ramble on, like trying to point to these other things
as being like his secrets to living. Yeah, when you shouldn't.
Just don't fucking weigh in on it. Like this clip
of when his like positive test thing came out. This
clip of Bill Burr on his show kind of went
viral again because like Bill Burke, he's like, dude, like
(02:39):
because at a point he's like, you know, I'm wearing
a mask, bottle. Joe's like, you wear a mask, bro,
and he's like, I'm not doing this with you, Joe,
just you're not a fucking medical expert. I'm not a
medical expert, and we're not gonna just start talking about
ship we don't know about. And it was just and
again you just saw like sort of this back and
forth between them. But yeah, it's Joe. But it's funny
(02:59):
because Joe Rogan has this like very cynical laugh throughout
it when Bill Burke calls him on a bunch of
ship um where you're like, yeah, ship had like on
some level, you know what you're doing. But that's what
people tune in for to hear me speculate about ship
that I don't understand. And even though I'm looking at
you going like, I know, dude, I'm kind of bullish it,
but you know, like you're like, but that's truly wild
(03:19):
that he claims to have taken the horse de warmer
because you got to man, are you are you even magavul? Yeah.
Rogan also said he had received a vitamin drip as
well as inver mactin, a drug primarily used as a
veterinary de warming agent. Uh. This is a quote from
the New York Times. That's that's where we're at. He
(03:41):
is he is a story that's covered in the New
York Times. I mean it got to the point where
like a woman sued like a hospital to make them
treat her husband with ivor mactin, and you're like, they're like,
I guess you win. But then like doctors like, what
are you fucking talking about? Like you might as well
just say, beat them with a fucking read stick or something,
(04:03):
not a treatment. Yeah, no, I think that works. Actually
I heard the beating with the read stick works. It does.
So on this morning's episode, we were talking about the
fact that the Preme Court failed to intervene and you know,
acknowledge out loud that the Texas Abortion Band was unconstitutional.
(04:24):
They hadn't said anything yet at that point, so we
were like, well, they ultimately like realize what a bad
idea this was. Even so that would be horrifying because
it just proved that they're like doing this as a
weather balloon for when they do decide to overturn row. Anyways,
they went all in. They in a five four ruling
decided to let it ride. Let a abortion band ride
(04:47):
in Texas. And the way they're getting around it is
by making it so that people can sue each other
for tens of thousands of dollars for or either getting
an abortion or being party party aiding in the betting one.
As they would say. Yeah, I mean, a lot of
(05:09):
people pointed out, it's like, oh yeah, this there was
I remember another time when this was happening. It's when
people could report slaves that had freed themselves. Yeah. Um,
in a similar fashion of reporting on people for a bounty.
So yeah, I mean, and and the other thing we're
saying yesterday was just about how, you know, these laws,
once they are allowed to rock like this, other states
(05:31):
copy very quickly. And I believe Florida had already announced
that they're looking into applying this you know, version of
the Texas law in Florida. Yeah. Then meanwhile, we were
just hearing very little inspiring, you know, words from the
leadership of this country as it relates to people's access
to healthcare. I know Biden was like, we have to,
(05:53):
you know, do something. But it's like fullier the president,
like what what are we going to do? What are
you going to do? He just said, I'm instructing agencies
to quote, see what steps in the federal See what
steps the federal government can take to ensure that women
in Texas have access to safe and legal abortions. You
can make real v. Wade an actual law with Congress.
How about that? How about that? About that point? But again,
(06:18):
you look at the these fucking ghouls and goblins like
in the in both parties, who just have no idea
like what is at stake or they do know, they
just don't care because they've you know, they've sided with
much larger powers like the Koch Brothers network or something
like that to just get in the way of the
simplest things like voting rights or you know, abortion acts.
(06:40):
And this again ultimately like puts the ultimate line of
the idea that the Supreme Court is an impartial, like
purely legal entity. This is by anyone's standards, completely unconstitutional
based on like all the things that Supreme Court is
supposed to consult the minority opinion was like, huh, how
(07:00):
the fund are you all doing that? And but it
doesn't matter because they're an ideological political body. Uh that
anybody you know that. We we talked before about how
the democratically appointed elder Statesman of the Supreme Court um
was talking about how like, well I think that always
other justices like have fairness in mind. When I'm talking
(07:25):
about why he wasn't going to retire, Well, you know,
Biden could ensure he was replaced by a liberal justice. Anyways, Uh,
completely fucked. Nancy Pelosi seems to say that when they
return from their break, they will bring up Judy cho.
She had a bill called the Women's Health Protection Act.
(07:46):
Say we'll take that up to make this a law,
right exactly, to make really codify that and we'll see
what happens. You know. In the segment bodily autonomy, a lah, Yeah,
I decided by a bunch of geriatrics. Al Right, Well,
and less important news adults, Swim is trending because it
(08:09):
is twenty years old. I gotta say, uh, put me
onto a lot of obscure comedic comedic comedics like Aquitine
was one of my was my favorite shows um. And
you know, more than that gave people like Flying Lotus,
you know, a start too, because like those interstitial ads
(08:30):
were like always the kind of things like kind of
gave me an imagination for like cool music that I
was not interacting with on the radio. And I was like, no,
man like adults swim like I remember, I'd YouTube like
adult swim music, um, because they were just so forward
thinking with the kinds of music they had playing those bumps.
All right, let's take a quick break and we'll be
(08:50):
right back. And we're back. Let's check in with the
funory going on in Congress currently, Joe Mansion just like
we're talking a piece of trash allegedly, especially as it
(09:15):
relates to this law in Texas that's banning abortion everyone. Like,
I thought Democrats had the Senate, the fucking House, the
fucking White House, but it looks like the Conservatives are
just running ship. And you know another indication of that
is when you're trying to pass a fucking infrastructure bill. Um.
(09:35):
During you know, as you can tell, both coasts of
this country are going through hell, whether it's fire or flooding. Um.
And you know, just again underscoring our climate crisis. Um.
You know, there's still no infrastructure is like a fucking
hot topic issue. And Joe Manson said he won't support
the three point five trillion dollar bill. He said just
(09:57):
basically said, I can't support it or anywhere near that
level of additional additional spending without greater clarity about why
Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt
have on existing government programs. Get the fuck out of
the fucking Senate, you turn, what are you talking about.
We're like, you're we have the most severe ship going on,
(10:20):
but this person, because they're still insulated by their wealth
and status, it's like it's a fucking it's an abstraction
to them. It's like a thing that they can just
scroll past on a fucking news feed or someone on
an app, rather than human beings lives being adversely affected.
And not only that, we have terrible issues with people
about to lose unemployment benefits. Uh, Eviction moratoriums are only
(10:44):
really around in a handful of states. Yet we're talking
about if you're if you're worried about debt, how about
you actually put your head in the game here. But
it's all just fuck nons. Somebody got to them clearly
like this, it's the brothers. It asked for the Chamber
of Commerce. I don't know, but him in Cinema. You know,
(11:05):
like if you're if you're a real shysty political maneuver
like and you know how to maneuver, you look at
the math and you go, who can I put the
squeeze on to really stop shipped up? And you're like,
because if I can get two people just to disagree
on this one bill, then I got something. And it's
probably a very efficient use of their influence to do that.
(11:25):
But I mean, this has to be I don't know,
you you'd hope that the media could then zoom out
a bit and rather just being like, oh my gosh,
I mean Cinema and Manson said that they were him,
but now they're not doing it. Why don't you go
a little bit deeper and try and actually discuss what
would what what it would take for a senator to
be such an obstacle to this kind of thing and
(11:47):
the influence of outside money. But it's just easier to
be like, there's just there's just real stubborn hume and
avoiding a deeper conversation about like said, our debt and inflation, Like,
can he point to a specific like that's such a
such a fucking just vague, Like, Okay, I'll say this,
(12:11):
your biggest concern should be that Americans have what they
need to survive. These are concepts for you as a legislator,
for sure, to think about. But when you're talking about
what this is uh in service of to say, I'm
going to obstruct this because I think inflation and debt
are a bigger deal. Who do you answer to and
whose day to day realities and struggles are you actually
(12:33):
taking into account to make this determination whether or not
you're going to support a bill like this? And I
think that's when you really see your like, dude, this
like he couldn't even articulate probably that unless he's gonna
be so paternalistic and be like, well, you guys, I
know you're saying you don't have jobs, and an infrastructure
bill could create a lot of jobs and things like that,
but you've got to think about inflation and debt on
(12:53):
existing government programs, Sonny, And I think that complicated economic
phenomenon like that kind of turns people's brands off. So
it's just like a hypnotism trick where you like when
I say inflation and debt, you will your brain will
shut off and you'll choose to stop paying attention right when, Like,
really working people need to know that it's people like
(13:15):
this who do the bidding of the wealthy that are
the fucking real threat to any upward mobility or sense
of autonomy or agency. You know that that we have
very social fabric of our country. Let's talk about Canadas
els a bit of good news. This is chock full
of I mean, you know, she wanted to go get
(13:39):
a COVID test and she was denied a COVID test. Uh.
They basically she I think she's somewhere in Colorado. And
someone wrote this, um it just said I've just learned
of this testing request, and as the owner of this business,
I'm going to refuse this booking and deny service. We
cannot support anyone who has actively work to make this
(14:01):
pandemic worse by spreading misinformation, politicizing and discouraging the wearing
of masks, and actively dissuading people from receiving life saving vaccinations.
The only other local testing option is the free kiosk
by city Hall. They mail their tests to Texas and
have inconsistent result times do not take appointments, so it's
walking only mid day, midday weekdays in their back alley.
(14:22):
My team and myself have worked overtime to exhaustion, unpaid
and underpaid this past year, spending our own capital to
ensure that our community remains protected. It would be unfair
to them and to the sacrifices we have all made
this year to serve. Shout out to them that was
well put. Yeah, And it's funny because then Candice Owens
suddenly is like there, I was refused it because I'm
(14:45):
I'm a black woman and they're discriminating against me, and
I've seen takes like that. They're like, zoom out for
a second. This is about a woman who has denied
healthcare access. Um. You know, she's able to get it
other where other places. But for someone like Candice Owens,
who herself says ray Sism does not exist, I don't
understand how suddenly that this construct is something she's now
(15:06):
agreeing to. But again, it's always selective outrage and there's
no consistency to any of their philosophical beliefs. So it's
hard to have any kind of empathy for someone who
says racism doesn't even exist. Um, and it's just it
seems like they're intentionally trolling the world and everybody's sense
of justice by complaining that a woman is being denied
(15:28):
healthcare as they're overturning row Like but yeah, it's like, really,
are you your energy is going to cape for Candice
Owens because there's an entire state of people who are
being denied healthcare access. And yeah, anyway, okay, nice try
all right, let's talk briefly about some of the images
(15:53):
coming out of New York, New Jersey, South Jersey, Philly
area where to my people are. And it's pretty it's
pretty wild. There was like a massive tornado in the
Philly area. Um, and in Jersey. The flooding that we're
seeing in New York City is just wild, like just
(16:16):
water like pouring up out of the out of the ground. Uh,
Like manhole covers like blowing up, like blowing off because
of like the pressure changes underneath. Uh. But Postmates are
still out there delivering food. So that's good. You saw
you you saw that, yeah, of that guy fucking like
delivering a meal in fucking two and a half three
(16:39):
ft of water. It was the most dystopian ship, didn't
postmates like send it or tweet it. Maybe maybe I
might have that wrong, but it seems I don't. I mean,
it seems like a tweet someone would do satirically, but
you'd also believe it because this is hell. Were still
they're making sure you get your food um and underpaying
(17:01):
people and trying to miss categorize them as independent contractors
so we don't have to give them any benefits. But
they say about twenty seven people UM in the Tri
state area. So it's man, it's it's really harrowing. And
again like what this is such an emergency and again
(17:24):
we're we are in the hands of leaders who, like
Joe Biden is saying like yeah, yeah, yeah, just to
get up to get up to getting more drilling and
stuff like that. Let's not really get too focused on
changing the energy makes of what our investments are because
this is all fucking not real. Yeah, absolutely, it's just
(17:46):
it's just like odd. And again we're like, it's just
an omni crisis constantly where we're still in the pandemic
and we still have we're trying to cut off benefits.
People are made to feel that it's over and don't
have the ability to take care of themselves and continue
to like experience this ship and still clock in and
(18:06):
all this other stuff. It's fucking you know, it's tough.
Like That's why I feel like every day there's a
tweet on like there's a tweet that goes like it's
hundreds of there are a ton of likes, because it's
mostly like being like everything's fucked up and we're just
still meant to keep going. Like that constructive tweet is
like very common, and I feel like resonates with a
(18:27):
lot of people. But it's I don't know, it's just
a tough situation too, where even like the media discourse
around it is through the lens of people who this
these aren't really existential threats. Yet more evidence that this
is not normal. Manhattan Central Park saw the most amount
of rain ever to fall there in a single hour,
(18:48):
and New York experienced the first flash flood emergency ever
issued by the New York Office. New York has been
there for a while, it's been up and running for
a while. I I hear yeah. Any Ways, shout out
to the people of New York and New Jersey and Philly.
Stay safe out there. Yeah, please do awful and I
(19:11):
I hope you can return to some sense of infrastructural
stability soon. All right, that's gonna do it for this
Thursday afternoon. We are back tomorrow with the whole last
episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other,
be kind to yourselves, get the vaccine, don't do nothing
(19:32):
about white supremacy. We'll talk to you all tomorrow. Fight
