Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Andrew Lloyd Webber and this is my most
requested live Ask Anything chat now. My new musical Cinderella
has just been nominated for the Best Cast Album section
of the Grammy Awards, which is very, very exciting, and
I'd like to thank Romeo and iHeart for having me

(00:21):
on the show tonight. So I've got a whole series
of questions. Another first one is from Valerie from New Orleans,
and this is a weird one. Do you ever announce
yourself as Baron Webber or Baron Weber would slightly better
when sounds a bit more Germanic. No, I don't because

(00:41):
I'm not Baron Webber. It sounds like there was a
group called the Baron Knights once, but not Baron Webber. Now.
I think the reason for your question, Valerie is is
that I'm a member of the Hustle Lords, or was
until I resigned from it, which means that I'm a
lord and technically a baron, but I'm an ex baron
and an ex lord now because I'm no longer a
member of the House of Lords. And also it's very

(01:02):
difficult to say Lord Lloyd Webber, so you try it anyway.
Thanks Valerie seems. Um gosh, Marilyn from Norfolk, When you
win the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album Award all
of that, how will you and the cast be celebrating. Well,
we've got to win it first. I don't know how

(01:23):
we're going to celebrate unless we win it. And you know,
tough competition this year. Good things there too, So Marilyn
from Norfolk, I'll let you know it won't be a
Norfolk turkey. I can promise you. I sense that, can
Fee Bailey from San Diego. If you were on the

(01:48):
mask singer, what would you sing and what costume would
you wear? Well that's a good one. M Well, of
course the phantom is masked, but I can't see, so
it really wouldn't go very well. But I could I
suppose come on as the phantom. I don't know. Maybe
we have masquerade. Lots of costumes in that, lots of
choices there. I recognize you from Days gone by? Janis

(02:14):
from Toronto. Will we ever find out who let the
dogs out? And how did that project come together? Well,
it's got nothing to lose with me, So I don't
know who did let the dogs out? I mean an
interesting one. I am let the cats out. I might
be able to help you with, but not the dogs.
This is at last my moment of trial. Okay, Carlo

(02:36):
from NYC. If you had to have a theme song
you've written play whenever you entered a room, what would
it be? I think you go the other way. I
don't know. I don't even want to hear on one
of my own songs when I come into a room.
I really want Andrea from Mexico City from your set
of works. How much time does it usually take from

(02:56):
Finnish script to opening night? Well, if it was a
normal musical and not something done in COVID like my
Poor Cinderella postponed and postponed and postponed, I always retton
it's about three years, I think, from the beginning of
finding an idea, then writing it, and then of course
you've got to find the right team, the right director,

(03:17):
the right cast, the right designer, the right everything. And
one of the things about musicals is that they're the
most collaborative of all forms, and if any one ingredient
in the musical is not right, then the show could
get buried and it could be a great show like
Chicago was first time around. And it didn't do very
well in New York initially, or did okay, but nothing

(03:39):
like chorus Line, and it didn't win the kind of
major awards in the Tone is. But some years later
a new production of it, completely differently interpreted in that
became a huge, huge hit. And so the team is
really really important, and that's why it takes a long while,
really to put a musical together. But three years is

(04:00):
the kind of average. Sena Senna Sena from South Korea.
Any plans for a BTS Broadway show written by Alew?
We love our Alew and BTS. I'm not sure what
BTS is behind the scenes is it? I don't know
why everybody always calls everything by initials. It means that
absolutely nobody gonna understand what the earth you're talking about.

(04:21):
So we love our Alwan. Behind the scenes, I don't know.
I think you know, we've been so many show business stories,
you know, and behind the scenes stories and the other
I'm not convinced that i'd like to write that. Beth
from Nashville. If the answer on Jeopardy was Andrew, I've
webber what was the question? Well, looking at this list
that I got, who put the dolls are Gina from Rome.

(04:43):
How many of your musicals can you name quickly in
ten seconds? The answer is I got amnesia and I
can't remember. And Joseph in the Amazing Technicolor Greencoat took
ten seconds, So there you go. Well, thank you for watching.
I'm sure you've been bored out of your skulls, but
if you ever want me again, suddenly knows me and
probably call me on speed dial where I to have
a mobile phone, which I don't, so bye bye,
