Hello friends, are you getting ready for bed?
Let’s make sure we’ve brushed our teeth and washed our hands. Oh and don’t forget your comfy things. Now it’s time for the perfect bedtime story.

About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello friends, and welcome to bedtime stories with mister jim O.
I was just getting ready for bed, are you as well?
Oh good? I hope you brushed your teeth and found
all of your comfy things like pillows and blankets and stuffies.

(00:27):
Oh yes, oh good. Well, as long as you have
all those things ready, then it's time for our story.
But first we must close our eyes so that we
can travel to an imaginary world. Sylvester stared at the

(00:57):
moon while his tummy rumbled. He looked at the craters
and thought about how hungry he was. Were the craters,
he wondered, like the holes in Swiss cheese, or were
they dark chunks like chocolate chips. He wondered what made

(01:20):
the moon look like it was different in color, sometimes
white some nights, blue, orange, or even red on special occasions,
and decided that maybe it was frosting a new shade
on a new moon for special occasions. It made sense,

(01:46):
since the moon was beginning to look more delicious the
longer he gazed at it. He was sure the aliens
couldn't resist taking a bite each day. It must be huge,
since it never disappeared all at once, but each night

(02:07):
a bit more of the moon seemed to be missing
until a whole new one took its place. Sylvester wanted
to taste it too, so it was that night that
he decided, I am going to eat the moon. Hmmm.

(02:30):
Sylvester wanted to make it to the moon tonight, so
he got right to work. It was a new and
full moon, and he wanted to be the first to
eat it. Plus, his tummy was rumbling and grumbling like
a monster was trapped inside. He didn't want to waste

(02:52):
any time. First, I must build a rocket ship. Sylvester
collected all the cardboard boxes he could find, then tape
markers and pillows. He constructed his rocket ship with the
expertise of a rocket scientist. Boxes were taped together and

(03:14):
windows and controls were drawn and pillow seats were placed inside.
Rocket ship complete, Sylvester smiled and skipped off to continue
his preparations Inside. He grabbed his astronaut costume from the playroom,

(03:38):
boots from the mudroom, and a plate and fork from
the kitchen. He packed his supplies into the rocket ship,
but something was missing. Before he could take off. Tuxedo,
Come here, Tuxi Boy, Sylvester's black and white dog came

(04:00):
trotting over, looking handsome with his white paws and chest,
making him look like he was dressed in a suit
for a fancy event. But he wasn't dressed for the
moon yet, so Sylvester popped the extra helmet over his
doggy face. Now that his best friend was ready, Sylvester

(04:23):
and Tuxedo boarded the rocket ship and readied themselves for takeoff.
Sylvester turned on the jets and the rocket ship began
to rumble. He sat on his pillow seat next to
Tuxi and waited to blast off. The rocket rumbled louder

(04:48):
and shook even more until it zoomed through the clouds
and off into space. He held on tight until the
rocket slowed down and beat began to float toward the moon.
Sylvester got up and looked out the window. The moon

(05:08):
was glowing a bright blue color today, he could have
sworn he saw little rainbow sprinkles covering its surface. As
the rocket ship floated closer, Sylvester noticed the small peaks
of frosting coating it. He licked his lips hungrily, his
tummy rumbling at the sight. The rocket ship landed and

(05:34):
Sylvester and his dog leaped out of the rocket ship
onto the moon. He stuck his fork in and sank
it through the sticky frosting and got stuck. I'm gonna
need a bigger fork, he told Tuxedo. The dog wagged

(05:54):
his tail and followed Sylvester back to the ship. I'm
getting sleepy, how about you? The boy grabbed a shovel
he had packed. He dug into the moon, through the
sticky frosting and down to the cookie center. What Using

(06:17):
two hands, he lifted the shovel and took a bite
home the sweet blue frosting mixed with the sugar cookie
center of the moon or a sweet flavor explosion. Sylvester
was right, the moon was delicious. He kept digging and

(06:39):
devouring the moon bite after bite, until all that was
left was the spot where the rocket ship was parked.
Sylvester was no longer hungry. He was very full and
very sleepy. Come on, TUXI, let's head home. He yawned

(07:02):
and bounced his way back to the rocket ship with
his best dog friend. The rocket ship powered up and
floated back through space. Sylvester buckled up on his pillow seat,
but fell asleep before the rocket blasted back down to Earth,

(07:25):
landing in his backyard. He woke up to a big
dog kiss and wiped the slobber off his face. The
night sky was dark as Sylvester climbed out of his
rocket ship. He looked up at the sky and saw
that only a small sliver of the moon was shining.

(07:45):
He didn't need to wonder about where the rest of
the moon had gone as he patted his full belly.
Sylvester went inside and climbed into his bed, Tuxi jumping
on to the bed beside him. Closing his eyes, he
snuggled his pup, looking forward to taking another bite of

(08:09):
the next full the end. Well, friends, as we all
drift off to sleep, you have very sweet dreams. Good night.
